Q4 – who would be the audience for our media product
1.
2. First of all, we had to consider what the best target
audience would be for our thriller. We presented our ideas
in our one page pitch which described the details of our film
and our audience. We came to an agreement that the age
group 15 – 21 would be the most suitable age range for our
film because the aspect of schizophrenia and the effects
that it can have on people may be unsuitable for viewers
younger than this age.

3. The age range that we finally decided on was 15 – 21. This
is because however there may not be any gore or graphic
content in the film, the issues surrounding schizophrenia
may be unsuitable for younger viewers to watch.
Alternatively, we believe that viewers over the age of 21
wouldn’t be as interested in this style of film and some
people may get offended in how we present the disability.
In addition, our primary research and surveys indicate to us
clearly that that this is the most popular age range of
people that watch this style and genre of film.
4. The genre of our film also played a key role in the decision
of which audiences would be most suitable for our media
product. For example in our primary research of a survey
we discovered that this age group is the most popular age
group for watching this genre of film the most. This is most
likely because of the fact that they like the suspense and
action inside a thriller film. Thrillers can also be hybrid-
genres. For example, horror thriller and action thriller. I
think that our film fits perfectly into the genre of a
psychological thriller due to the conventions of a thriller and
the fact that a mental disability plays an important factor in
our film. This could interest older viewers but we chose our
audience off of our research as it is more reliable that just
what we think.
