Evaluation Question 5
1.
2. Our Target Audience
Here is an image of our generalised
target audience. We have gathered data
on various people as these responses
came out as the most common response
for a thriller film. Our target audience
was 15-24 and was generally male, we
also found that most people who liked
thrillers had horrors as their second film
genre choice on our survey. Judging by
the choice of horror as the second
choice we decided to make our thriller
slightly eerie and conjoin the two genres
so to speak. Our target audience was
also a relatively normal person who
listened to rock music and shoped in
typical high street stores wearing the
same apparel as many ordinary people.
3. Attracting film aspects
We gave our film opening a very eerie and almost horror effect as most of our target audience also
enjoyed watching horror films aswell as thrilers. This would not however appeal to some other people as
they may not enjoy films with a horror or scary twist, despite our films 15 age rating. For example shots
like our extreme close up of the kidnapped girls eyes with mascara running, giving an intimidating and
scary atmosphere to the scene.
Some people however may not find this film as appealing if they are not a fan of scary films or horror films
that they may find disturbing. People also may not enjoy the film if they are more a fan of comedy films etc
as the film would not be genered as closely to that genre, so people may not enjoy the film as much.
The audience would be drawn into our film through our exciting storyline that they would find interesting
and hopefully a word of mouth would be generated attracting our audience. Also people may want to keep
watching as the storyline intensifys as time goes on for example our short opening begins with the girl in
the shower, then we see a man watching her, and then it leads to the big climatic ending when she is
kidnapped. A big creation of suspense is created throughout and would attract the audience and also keep
them intregued.
4. Attracting film aspects
The audience would be asked to relate to leah and hopefully feel sorry for her in the
situation she is in. The audience are only able to see as much as leah can see up
untill the point when the persona changes and we witness a short clip of the stalker,
breathing heavily outside the house. This has an intensifing effect on the audience
as the suspense is built constantly and makes us fear as of what is to happen next.
We collected ou audience feedback from peers and our target audience. We
showed them our film opening and then recorded them both watching it and also
recorded them answering several questions that we have set out for them,
forinstance what did you find effective, what could have been better etc.
There are several moments that I have gathered from our feedback that the
audience found interesting and effective. Firstly was the the scene where the man is
standing behind leah in the mirror yet she cannot see it and our responses told us
that this scene was very effective. They also liked the scene where the persona is
changed and we see the outside of the house from the stalkers perspective, creating
suspense and signifying the tension.
