2. Shot #1
• In this shot, there is the use
of artificial lighting coming
from below. This creates the
effect of intimidation on the
viewer. This use of lighting
also my create the idea of
the character being under
interrogation which makes
the viewer want to know
why he is being interrogated
and what he might have
done to get into the position
that he is in.
3. Shot #2
• In this shot, there is the use
of natural lighting coming
from behind the building. This
gives an uncomforting feeling
to the audience and maybe a
slight confusion as to why the
character is here at this time.
4. Shot #3
• In this shot, there is the use of
natural lighting from above.
This makes the character seem
hidden and like they are
appearing from somewhere.
The use of the low shot as well
as this lighting shows that this
character can be quite
dominant and powerful and
makes the audience feel
uncomfortable as to who he
actually is and what he is
doing.
5. Shot #4
• In this shot, there is the use of
the natural lighting coming from
the right hand side so that half of
the characters face and body is
covered. This gives the
impression that this character
may be being interrogated and
maybe he has something to hide.
This could also be seen as a point
of view shot coming from the
interrogator if one is present.
This makes the viewer want to
uncover and learn more about
this character.
6. Shot #5
• In this shot, the character is
stood in front of a window with a
backlit lighting. This puts the
whole front of the characters
body in darkness. This gives the
effect to the viewer that again
the character may has something
to hide. This then adds on to the
effect that the audience may not
know or be able to decide
whether they think that this
character is a good person or a
bad person. This adds an
uncomfortable tension to this
shot.
