2. The audience for the movie Seven taking into
account the National Readership Survey social
grades would favor the Social grade B, and C1
life style in my opinion, this is mainly due to
the character choice in the movie, and the in
depth of the story being based around religious
ideologies, stereotypically the lower class don’t
tend to watch films that go over their heads
also the lower class market is more aimed at
simple comedy family films that require little
thinking and to pass time.
3. Based on simple Demographics I would say this film would
be aimed at a older audience (around the age of 20-55) this is
due to the concepts and the complexity of the film as there is
a lot of information to take in to fully understand it. I think
it would be hard for a younger person to take in the
complexity, also the film is rated 18. This is due to violence
and language that young people may be frightened by (as
the film is about catching a serial killer who kills based off
of the Seven deadly sins known to man) I would go on
further to say this film is aimed at the white western market
as it is set in America and due to it being very realistic, and
while a very elaborate film, it still has minor characteristics
of a typical American film. I would say it fits the middle
class very nicely, I think it would appeal more to males
stereotypically due to the ‘scary’ concept that may typically
put females off from watching it.
4. Based on Lifestyle (Going by the guidelines the Cross
Cultural Consumer Characterization) I would say this
appeals to mainly Reformers, This is due to the concept
of the film and though the antagonist is indeed insane,
he does have good points to make on broken society
and this is something a reformer would perhaps think
about and take in whilst watching the movie as it
opens up almost a new aspect of how the consumer can
experience the film. An explorer would also appreciate
this film as while it has all the prime aspects of a
crime/ psychological thriller, it does also have many
aspects that are original and new that an explorer
would appreciate, this originality being the dark
lighting and rain throughout the whole film.
5. based off of the Values Attitude and Lifestyle (VALS) framework, I would say that those with
higher recourses and innovative attitudes would appreciate this film and genre more. I think
this as people such as Thinkers, who would analyse the film in depth and have a further
understanding of the philosophy behind what the serial killer has to say, and to also
understand the complex emotions of the different characters. The reason for the complexity of
them is mainly because Thriller films and the characters within are meant to be realistic, and
human emotions are a very hard thing to interoperate. This would disadvantage a Survivor
watching the film as they would typically have lack of imagination and maybe lack the
intelligence to understand what’s happening in a Thriller with the many twist and turns.
