A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Assessment and Planning in Educational technology.pptxKavitha Krishnan
In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.

1. Q4
HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND EVALUATION
STAGES?
2. TECHNOLOGIES USED IN RESEARCH
During the research stage of my coursework I used laptops and computers to
research different genres and conventions, as the Internet was needed to find
the majority of information that I needed regarding various artists, genres and
their audiences.
To find out information about new artists that I was unfamiliar with I used the
search engine Google, and the website Wikipedia. Google images was also
useful when finding pictures of pre-existing Digipacks and images of different
artists. I also used laptops and more specifically Google ad Microsoft
PowerPoint when creating a mood board of my genre, I got the images of
different gangsta rap artists, styles and images from Google and also social
media sites such as Instagram
I also used my iPhone to look at various artists Instagram page and websites
which allowed me to see different how they have laid out their information and
attracted their audience attention.
Also looking through their social media accounts allowed me to find out more
about them and their artist values, this helped me discover the common
alternative artist values of pre-existing artists in the indie pop genre.
I used a laptop to access the internet and find a range of sites that helped me
to gather my research. I used sites such as VEVO and YouTube to watch and
analyse music videos that I might be inspired by and to see what conventions
of music videos they fulfilled or challenged. I also researched conventions of
gangsta rap and other music styles so I can implement them when creating
my own digipack and music video
In addition, I created a survey on Survey monkey in order to receive
information about what my target audience like to see in music videos. To get
a broad range of feedback I used my phone to send this survey to others
through WhatsApp and iMessage.
3. Planning
In terms of Planning, my phone was used to send
text messages, WhatsApp messages to the people
in my group, the artist and the model performer so
that we could plan when to film/shoot and where to
meet. This was vital for our production work
because the any problems with the weather or
illness of a group member meant we could re-
arrange via the group chat. In addition, I used
Google and Google Maps to plan our journey and
acted as a navigator to direct us to our filming
destination. I used ‘Table’ on Microsoft PowerPoint
to collate information such as shot lists and
troubleshooting.
4. Construction - Ancillary Tasks.
Technology was a big part of creating my ancillary
tasks as without it, I wouldn’t have been possible for
me to create them the way I did. I used a cannon
D3200 DSLR camera to take the pictures that I used
in the digipack and website. I then used various
programmes such as Adobe Photoshop, Gimp,
Canva and Polar to edit the images. I found that
editing the colour and vibrancy, and then placing and
editing them into the digipack temperate involved
great creativity and knowledge. There was some
situations where I struggled, therefore I went on
YouTube and looked at tutorials to guide me. I used
the website ‘dafont.com’ to find fonts for the text I
used on the front and inside of my digipack;
5. Construction - Music Video.
During the construction stage of our music video, technology played a significant role
in the construction of it.
As mentioned previously, we used a cannon 3200 DSLR camera to shoot the music
video, this camera has a manual focus which allowed us to change the focus of shots
to create interesting effects within our music video. I also used my iPhone to play the
song ‘Immortal’ so that my model artist in the video could lip sync to it.
In order to upload all of our footage and edit, we used the following editing software ‘
Final Cut Pro.’ This software allowed us to physically create our music video, in AS
we also used this software to edit our title sequences however at the time I wasn’t
that familiar with it, however during A2 as I had used the software before, so I was
familiar with its features which allowed me to be more creative with our edit for
example when the model performer is opening the alcohol bottle, we used video
effects by increasing the speed of him opening the lid.
