Instagram was used to gather feedback on logo designs for a record label by posting the options and having followers vote. It also helped with research, planning, and evaluation for ancillary tasks by gathering opinions on design options. YouTube hosted focus groups to get feedback on ideas and completed work, and was used for inspiration by finding similar music videos. Prezi created mind maps for research and planning ideas by linking inspirations and explanations. Survey Planet created surveys to research target market preferences and evaluate perspectives, which were linked to blogs. Adobe software like Premier Pro, Photoshop, and InDesign were key to constructing the music video, magazine ad, and digipak cover through editing, layering images, and template design.

1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?
INSTAGRAM:
Firstly and app that was used in both my ancillary task and main tasks was Instagram. We created
an Instagram account for our main task in order to retrieve feed back on which logo was best
suited to our record label, we uploaded two images of different logos and followed peers of similar
music interests to the indie genre we had chosen and within our age target market. Similarly I did
the same process for my ancillary tasks - when it came down to choosing images for my digipak
cover and magazine ad, I uploaded two images and let people who follow me with similar music
interests and within my age target market. I found Instagram to be an extremely useful tool when in
need of audience feedback, further, the accounts act as a way to promote our record label brand
and upcoming music video/ancillary tasks - Instagram has even helpful in the research, planning
and evaluation stages of my production - it has given me the ability to research what exactly my
target market want, plan for my future work, and to assess and evaluate different perspectives of
my target markets opinion on my work.
YOUTUBE:
Youtube is a website that has been useful also in the planning and evaluating stages of my
production. On two occasions we set up focus groups of peers within my target market and
questioned them their opinions on my ideas for our main task and later their opinions on my
completed main task and ancillary tasks. Youtube has given me the ability to document there focus
groups, upload them and use them for further analysis and evaluation of my work. Also, Youtube
has been a useful website in helping me find inspiration for my music video and ancillary tasks - for
example, throughout the planning and researching stages of my productions I have been inspired
by other media platforms such as films, TV shows and other music videos - YouTube has given me
the ability to search up different platforms of similar genres, watch other music videos and trailers
and link them onto my blog for further reference.
PREZI:
Prezi is a website that features presentation software, enabling you to create ‘mind map’ styled
presentations. Prezi has been a website that I have used consistently throughout the creation of
both my ancillary tasks and main production. Especially within the planning and researching stages
- the use of the mind map style presentations enables me to place down all my research for
example this could range from inspirational images, links to other media platforms i have taken
inspiration from (such as tv shows, films or other music videos) as well as text so that I can explain
why I have researched a certain group/topic or platform. Prezi has also been useful in the planning
stages of both my main task and ancillary tasks, again, the mind map style of the presentations
has enabled me to post my ideas easily.
SURVEY PLANET:
Survey Planet is a website that enables you to create free surveys. I used this website for several
stages of my production, it was especially helpful in the research and evaluation stages of both
ancillary tasks and my main production. Firstly it enabled me to research what exactly it was my
target market wanted in terms of a music video/digipak and magazine advert - I was able to link the
surveys i created to people of my target market beyond my local area, for example, when
researching my what my target market preferred I was able to send my survey to university
students, delving further into my target market age bracket of 16-21 year olds. Further, survey
planet helped me to evaluate different perspectives of my work - as I was able to link the surveys
into my blog I had the information necessary to evaluate different perspectives of my work.
2. ADOBE SOFTWARE - PREMIRE-PRO/INDESIGN/PHOTOSHOP:
Adobe software has been the most useful in terms of the construction of my main production and
ancillary tasks. Our music video was completely edited using Premier Pro, although I wasn't the
editor of our production, Fern has stated that she found the software easy to use and it gave her
the ability to alter our music video to the way we both had pictured it (E.g the appliance of colour
treatment, merging together different scenes, adding text over the video).
For my ancillary tasks I used both Indesign and photoshop in order to construct them. Photoshop
was especially useful in the editing of my magazine advert and my digipak - I was able to add a
‘drunken’ effect to my magazine advertisement by layering over different images and adding filters
to them, for me photoshop made this process easy, I did the exact same for some of the images
for my digipak covers. However, for my digipak I did use Indesign in order to construct the digipak
itself together using a template.
