and Research, Planning and
Evaluation Stages

2. Computers
• I used Apple Mac computer to use software such
as Final Cut Pro. Without this piece
of technology I wouldn’t of been
able to of used this software and therefore
wouldn’t of been able to put my music video
together.
• I used other computers to use other software
such as Publisher, Indesign, Word press e.t.c.
• The computer was the primary source of
technology used for my research and planning,
construction and evaluation.

3. SEARCH ENGINES
• I used Search Engines, in particular Google for my research
and planning.
• This has been very useful in the research and planning
stage
• It has allowed me to research CD covers and magazine
advert from other bands of my genre.
• This has been useful as it has allowed me to find out the
conventions of my genre, how my genre is represented and
other techniques
• I also used it to research institutions, layouts of
preproduction paperwork and other research.
• I also used Google, for pictures, in this question of the
evaluation stage.

4. PHOTOSHOP &
INDESIGN
• I used New technology such as Photoshop in the construction
stages.
• I used it to make the picture for my CD cover and magazine advert,
and the pictures in my music video.
• In Photoshop I used the different tools to cut out the artists from
the background.
• For my ancillary text I used other tools to give a cracked effect on
half of my artists face.
• For my music video I used tools from Facebook to make the artist
look young and old.
• I used Indesign to construct the ancillary text. I did this by putting
the background and the photo-shopped picture together and then
placed the text after.

5. FINAL CUT PRO
I used this software to edit my music video.
I was able to put all the shots I had filmed onto
the computer.
I then could play the clips I had filmed and choose which clips I
wanted in my music video.
By using the cutting tool , I could cut out bits of the clip I
didn’t want to use
Finally I could piece together the different clips to create my Music
Video.
Final Cut pro also allowed me to use different transitions and
effects which enhanced my music video.
Without this software I wouldn’t of been able to of made my music
video and therefore it was a very important piece of technology in
the construction stage of my music video.

6. CAMERA/VIDEO CAMERA
I used a camera in the planning stages to take
pictures when location scouting.
I also used it for the construction stage. It
allowed me to take still pictures for my CD cover
and Magazine advert.
I used a video camera to film my music video.
By using the camera in a certain way, I could do
different shots such as zoom in, zoom out and
focus pull shots. It also allowed me to do simple
shots such as close ups, medium shots and long
shots.
I used a Tripod and Steadicam wheel to assist me
while filming. Both allowed me to film clear and
steady shots. The wheel allowed me to film
these shots while moving.

7. WORDPRESS
I used Word Press to present to people what
was involved in making my music video.
I used it to show people the planning stages
of my music video.
I used it to show people my music video, CD
cover and magazine advert.
And finally I used it to show my evaluation of
my music video.

8. Social Networks
By using Social Networks, such as Facebook, I could ask
a wide range of people what they thought of my music
video and ancillary texts. This helped me in the
evaluation stage as it allowed me to gain feedback and
see what I could do next time to improve them.
By using social networks it meant I could get feedback
from people of all different ages and genders.
It also helped me in the planning stages to get a
random sample for my primary market research.

9. YouTube
I used YouTube to research other music videos of
my genre. This has allowed me to research the
codes and conventions of the genre I was doing,
which in turn allowed me to plan my own video.
Once constructing my music video I put it on YouTube which
means the public can see the music video.
By using YouTube I could show people the music video, this
was helpful for my evaluation as it allowed me to get
valuable feedback.

10. Prezi
I used Prezi in the evaluation stage. It allowed me to show my
evaluation in an interesting and creative way.
I used Wix in the evaluation stage. It allowed me to show my
evaluation in an interesting and creative way.

11. SlideShare
• Using Slideshare I could present my research
on my blog. I used Slideshare when
researching the conventions of CD covers and
magazine adverts.
• I also used it in the evaluation stage to present
one of the questions.
