Fast Fashion Achieving Global Quick
Fast Fashion: Achieving Global Quick Response (GQR) in the Internationally Dispersed Clothing
Industry
Bart L. MacCarthy and P.G.S.A. Jayarathne
Abstract The clothing industry is one of the most mobile industries in the world. Global supply poses
signiïŹcant challenges in ensuring the right volume and mix of products within retail stores. Here we
deïŹne a new concept Global quick response (GQR) which strives to combine the cost and scale
efïŹciencies arising from sourcing globally with quick and accurate response to market requirements.
GQR is based on lead time compression, effective information management, dynamic planning, and
strong logistics. We examine GQR in the context of the new garment development process, the initial

GQR strives to combine cost and scale efïŹciencies by sourcing globally with quick and accurate
response to speciïŹc market requirements. We examine how GQR affects the major operational
processes in clothing design, manufacture, and distribution. We discuss its requirements with respect
to market intelligence and rapid new product introduction; network planning and staged
postponement; and network capability. Different approaches to GQR are possible and two contrasting
examples are discussed brieïŹ‚y.
2 Globalization in the Clothing Industry 2.1 Globalization and Mobility in the Clothing Industry
In the last three decades, clothing manufacture has migrated substantially from the developed to the
less well developed economies. The major clothing producing nations in 2005 were China, India,
Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan (Audet 2007). The growth in Chinese as well as Indian clothing
production has been substantial in the last two decades. In 2002, over 70% of the Japanese and over
77% of the Australian apparel markets originated from China (Nordas 2004). Chinese manufactured
clothing entering the US and the EU apparel markets grew by 43%

2016 proved to be another success of Spanish fashion retailer Inditex. In June 12, after the annual
review conference of the last financial year, Pablo Isla, Inditex s Chairman and chief executive, sat

one of the most successful CEO s in the history of Inditex. He made lot of changes within the firm, but
the competitors are still vigilant. Several booming brands, huge product lines, successful campaigns...

specific times. Already labeled and priced garments are ready to be placed in the store, and that

Zara has also very strong distribution network, which felicitate incredible fast delivery to its stores (In
Europe within 24 hours and in American and Asian outlets in less than 40 hours).
Moreover, Zara s is able to produce goods from the concept in just 15 days, while the industry average

Inditex s aim is to offer high quality products to all its customers at the same time as striving to
develop a sustainable business. One of the most important Inditex principle concerns the customers

of the fashion value chain: design, manufacturing, distribution and sale in proprietary stores as well.
Another important point is connected with the integration of Inditex sustainable and environmental

Examples Of Satire In The Pardoners Tale
Following the Pardoner s short story about the rioters, he divulged into a peroration of his medieval
sermon. The Pardoner s eloquent haranguing appears as he exclaims, My holy pardon frees you all of
this, provided that you make the right approaches, that is with sterling rings, or silver brooches
(Chaucer 301 303). Even though the statement appears to free of irony, the Pardoner s opening story
brings a sense of satire to his closing remarks. Throughout the tale of the rioters, the Pardoner hoped
to exhibit how greed is a negative characteristic, yet he is exceptionally money hungry himself. The
utilization of irony thus showcases the Pardoner s characteristics of being self seeking and egotistic.

The Ugly Renaissance Discussion Of Italy
The Ugly Renaissance Discussion
1. Why did the Renaissance originate in Florence and prosper for so many years?
In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and
accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor in
this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and beneficially
located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy had little choice
but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the market and foreign
trade. Therefore, Italy became prone to the extensive continuity of goods and novelties earlier than
other European areas. Accordingly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Florence was exposed to the principles and ideologies of foreign regions and immersed them into the
art and literature produced thereafter. That then percolated to the rest of the other European nations
and the rest of Italy itself. The Medici maintained these connections rooted and stable by way of
finance and politics and guaranteed that Florence, throughout the Renaissance, was an advocate of the
arts. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the Medici and the
Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under the essence of
partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many Florentine artists with a
harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the papal funds.
2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the
Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that the
Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages? If so,
what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the Renaissance?
Regardless of the likenesses to medieval art encircling subject matter and theme, Renaissance artists
undoubtedly interrupted the stagnant standards of medieval art. As previously stated, the themes of the
Middle Ages were rather consistent, but the Renaissance style was unprecedented in its

drug that has been used for years have been made illegal after the extensive usage. Cocaine has had

What Does God Mean To Me Essay
God is everywhere, God watches and cares for you and is something different to everyone. To me,
God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God
watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some
advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have
about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other
living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day
and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me
to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full
instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is
to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created
in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to
school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of
God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my
image or changes it. Overall, God is a provider and someone who watches over me through nature and
other living things. Additionally, throughout our world, there are many issues that the Catholic

Santa Sabina Research Paper
The principal architectural elements of this design are the three aisled basilica with no transepts. The
basilica is an axially planned church with a long nave, side aisles, and an apse for the altar. Santa
Sabina also has a long, tall, broad nave, following an axial plan. The spolia are the tall slender
columns. Santa Sabina has windows made not of glass, but of selenite, a type of transparent and
colorless gypsum. Santa Sabina also has a flat wooden roof, coffered ceiling, and thin walls
supporting a light roof. As an early Christian basilica, Santa Sabina has thin walls supporting wooden
roofs with coffered ceilings. Lastly, Santa Sabina has a bare exterior with a sensitively decorated
interior, which represents the Christian whose exterior may not be very attractive, but whose interior

Early Christian art has several features which are adapted from Roman elements. Santa Sabina
employed several Roman columns from Pagan temples. This type of reuse of architectural or
sculptural elements is known as spolia. Early Christian churches also came in two ways, both of which
were inspired by Roman architecture. Santa Sabina is an example of the more numerous axially
planned building, which has a long nave focusing on an apse. Early Christian basilicas, just like in
Santa Sabina, had thin walls supporting wooden roofs with coffered ceilings. Another example of an
element of the Christian design which was adapted from non Christian sources are the spolia, or tall
slender columns. Spolia is the reuse of architectural or sculptural places in buildings generally
different from their original contexts. These were taken from the Temple of Juno in Rome and erected
on the site of Santa Sabina. This serves as a statement of the triumph of Christianity over

Religion In James Agee s A Death In The Family
Whether a person is religious or not, everyone has a different viewpoint on religion. Some people see
religion as a helping hand, something that is meant to do good. Others see it as a negative force used
for evil and to cause harm. A lot of people have no opinion on the matter whatsoever. One of the main
themes in James Agee s novel is religion and the causes of it. In A Death in the Family, the characters
are very set in stone with their beliefs. While one character turns to their religion for comfort after a
tragedy, another uses a person s lack of beliefs as a reason not to perform an act for their family.
Throughout Agee s novel, religion is used as a constructive force for some characters and destructive
for other characters.

Father Jackson does not give his regards to the children or say his is sorry for what has happened.
After Father Jackson enters the Follet house, he goes over and sits in Jay s chair in the sitting room
which causes the children to stare at him. He does not even introduce himself to the kids he just stares
back them with such displeasure. He begins to lecture the kids about staring at him and how they

the room and brings Father Jackson to see Mary. While the adults are in the room, Rufus and

imagine Father Jackson being killed in different scenarios, which reveal their distaste for the man. The
more we read on, the more we see that Father Jackson has different motives with his religion. Father
Jackson is shown as a very close minded individual who does not seem to have any respect for
someone who is not religious. He also refuses to complete Jay s burial service because Jay was never

Compare And Contrast Greece And Persia
Two dominant civilizations of the Ancient World; Greece and Persia; were similar in multiple ways.
Both civilizations were heavily invested in militaristic assets which including military forces over sea
and land. As a result of being highly invested in their military assets, both civilizations used military
force to gain power. However, the two civilizations differed in the manner in which they were
governed. For example, Ancient Persia was united under a single ruler that was known as a king.
Ancient Greece on the other hand, was governed by military officials, aristocrats, and occasionally
tyrants. In return the manner in which each civilization was controlled by their ruler, molded how each
civilization would become and created differentiations

Education And The Portrayal Of Women
During the Victorian Era, the right to a proper education for women was at the forefront of politics.
Although England has Queen Victoria in parliament, nevertheless woman face oppression daily on the
basis of their gender; primarily through the lack of education they receive throughout their lifetime.
The struggle for education causes men and woman to compose multiple types of literary critiques to
argue the social structure that currently exists in their society. The main statement made in political
works in Victorian era address the patriarchal male society that existed during this time The work
created by Elizabeth Wollstonecraft, Sarah Stickney Ellis, John Stuart Mills, Elizabeth Browning and
Alfred Lord Tennyson demonstrate key examples of writers who contain a strong voice for feminist
issues, specifically about education and the portrayal of woman. The information these individuals
discuss in their writings emphasizes the importance of feminism in the past and present. The use of
literature provides writers with the opportunity to create different forms of written work that advertises
on specific subjects that holds important merit. The literature these authors present address the strong
forms of evidence that surround the topic of women s right to an education.
Women face their lives counterstained to the home in order to cook, clean, give birth, care for
children, and only devote themselves to one job, family. Sarah Stickney Ellis writes about the role

Basic Terminology For A State Of Affairs
Basic Terminology: Unit Three
Sheila Elyse Brooks
Stanbridge College
April 27, 2015
Introduction As we continue our journey through the trials and errors of understanding basic statistical
terminology. Let s focus our attention on the following: understanding what is the difference between
a hypothesis, statistical hypothesis, and an experimental hypothesis. In addition, I want to explore how
researchers determine the appropriate sample size. Now, some of you might be asking the question
what do we do once we have our hypothesis and sample population? Well, now is a wonderful time to
start experimenting with statistical methods like the chi square test. I will explain this later on.

However, most clinical research associates do not hold medical degree of any type. This makes it
rather to master the skills I need when I see my patients. Often, we are not allowed to open any lab
kits (because they are in sequential order) which makes nurses prone to more mistakes. When I first
came to Mount
Carmel, I notice we had simulators. So, I began to think how these simulators could reduce the clinical
errors in research. My hypothesis (state of affairs) could be: Clinical research nurses who practice on
simulators are more likely to have fewer medical errors then those who do not. My
Experimental hypothesis: Clinical research nurses are 25% more likely to make mistakes when
performing clinical skills (such as lab draws and administering study medication) then those nurses
who practice on patient simulators. My experiment: Compare the performance of nurses who use
patient simulators to practice specific study related skills versus those who do not. After you figure out
your hypothesis, you must consider what makes a good estimate .
Making Good Estimates We obtain a sample in order to obtain a statistical measurement such as a
mean form our observation. One can say that different sample sizes would produce different values or
variations. The variation between these individual estimates is due to sampling error (Fowler et el,
2002). It is important to note that sampling

Religious And Spiritual Aspects Of Human Service Practice
In this paper, I will be writing about spirituality and religion. I will be referring to the textbook called,
Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F. Ellen
Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of
spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development,
and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss
the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on
the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings
have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire
to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met
with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who
moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of
having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human
experience for people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults
in attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is
increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define

Outline The Doctrine Of R2P
OUTLINE THE DOCTRINE OF R2P
Over centuries the international community has witnessed the deadly harm of sovereign states that
have demonstrated acts of colossal inhumanity, such as the atrocities of the Holocaust, Khmer Rouge
and Rwanda. All these episodes have contributed of an introduction to a new paradigm of international
of law, The Responsibly to Protect (R2P). This was adopted unanimously in 2005 by United Nations
General assembly World Summit. The R2P doctrine is based on 3 pillars of responsibility: 1. Each
nation state is obligated to protect its populace from crimes such as genocide, war crimes, ethnic
cleansing and crimes against humanity . 2.The international community has to encourage states to
uphold their role in ensuring R2P is adequately met. 3. If the nation state fails to protect its populace
from these crimes, it therefore it becomes an implication for the international community to
collectively take action. Notably this must be in accordance to article 39 of the United Nations
Charter. Hence, academic scholar Bellamy reinforces this; R2P offers the best change in our own time
to build an international community that is less tolerant of mass atrocities and more predisposed to
preventing them . However it must be noted that the doctrine of R2P is not legally binding.

Notes Of A Biology Watcher, By Lewis Thomas
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an ant? Author of The Lives of a Cell: Notes of a
Biology Watcher Lewis Thomas, has. In his essay, he compares ants to humans. He has a theory that
they are very similar. I believe this comparison is accurate one because both humans and ants act
similar in the way they live, both are a stronger force when they work together, and both have a nature
to cause destruction. He accomplishes driving his point home by exposing his readers to a new
explanation of human nature and how related it is to ants human nature. Lewis Thomas starts the
comparison from the very beginning of the essay. He starts with the lifestyle of both creatures. Ants
are so much like human beings a to be an embarrassment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also hints that actions require consequences and someone taking responsibility for those actions,
ants being superior in this situation. They...Launch armies into wars, use chemical sprays to alarm and
confuse enemies, capture slaves,. The families of weaver ants engage in child labor.. (Thomas 1 6).
This quote compares ants destructive nature to humans. People cause wars and we use chemical
sprays, and many years ago we captured slave. Even though it is illegal, humans still engage in child
labor, as well. Thomas also states, I am unsure of the meaning, but I think it has something to do with
all that plastic that, and the distance from the earth... But I think it was chiefly the plastic, which
seems to me the most unearthly of all man s creations so far. I do not believe you can suspend army
ants away from the earth, on plastic for any length of time. They will lose touch, run out of energy,
and die for lack of current. As written before this compares the destructive nature of humans. If a
human was taken from their home and their resources, they too would become home sick and could
possibly die. Both humans and ants are meant to live their natural habitats. In this quote, he also
alludes that humans need to take responsibility for their actions. He in a way holds them

The actors all sing while dancing, which makes the fact that they always hit their notes perfectly, even
more impressive. The cats dance throughout the entire play. All of the dances are complicated and
include difficult turns, leaps, and some acrobatics. The background of the stage is a 3 dimensional
setting built to look like a dump. The cats use the dump as part of the stage. They enter and exit
through old tires in the floor and jump across the other objects as if they were real cats playing in a
dump.
The play included all types of dancing, including Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, and Lyrical. Most of the
dancing, however, was a form of Jazz. At one point in the play a group of bugs perform a tap dance.
This scene was comical, but the tapping was outstanding. Most of the actors are accomplished singers,
actors, and dancers with a lot of previous experience. Many of them have attended performing art
schools and not only rehearse their main role, but also understudy 2 to 3 other characters. The actors
are all well practiced, which is evident in the quality of the show.
I would strongly recommend this play to anyone who loves music, dance, and/or cats. It is a very
unique play that continues to fill your thoughts for days after you have seen the play. The play is too
long and too complicated to fully appreciate the first time you see it, so I would love to see it again

Lady Macbeth Feminism Essay
Feminist issues have always been controversial throughout history and gender topics remain debatable
matters in the context of the democratic society of the 21st Century. Over and over again these
representations are revisited, seeing just how many degrading representations the modern day woman
can overcome before finally adopting these stereotypes as the norm in her everyday life. It is almost
like a game to see how many obstacles women can overcome; each obstacle yet another generalised
representation of women in literature and film. Shakespeare exampled this through the classic, 1606
play, Macbeth, as did director Sam Mendes in one of the iconic James Bond films, 2012, Skyfall.
Through classic pieces of literature and modern day film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, this is perceived through the exaggerated emotive language of having them replaced by a
direst cruelty . Lady Macbeth pleads, make thick my blood, stop up the passage to remorse ,
conveying that if her blood was made thicker the blood flow throughout her body would slow down
and natural human functions would shut down. Metaphorically she wants the flow of remorse and pity
to be cut off, and to be unhuman. Furthermore, she pleads that her breast milk is turned to bile. A
woman s breasts have the natural function to feed, and is a source of life for a growing baby, while
bile is a bitter, foul green coloured substance made in the liver which provides no nourishment.
Allegorically, this links back to Lady Macbeth s reversal of nature and challenge of gender
expectations. Shakespeare cleverly weaves this allegory through the play to symbolise a warning to
Lady Macbeth and or women of the 17th century, for what will happen if they rebel and challenge
societal expectations. Consequently, Macbeth gains in murderous masculinity, ordering killing after
killing, while Lady Macbeth lapses back into the feminine helplessness she had earlier rejected.
Madness, curiously, forces her back into the stereotypical femininity that

Williams collection of poetry entitled Spring and All which was published in 1923. One of the most
famous poems of the twentieth century, The Red Wheelbarrow is an illustrative poem. This poem is

Case Study Of Starbucks Success In Australia
Introduction Starbucks finally failed in Australia. The company closed almost all of its 84 Australian

in Australia. Starbucks entered the market in 2000. At that point, McCafe and Gloria Jean s were
already established there. The thing is, Starbucks stores were also opened in low traffic areas and were
charged more money than the other competitors. Although the disappointing sales in Australia didn t
set back Starbucks that much. But we still should learn something from it. The company has reported
that 2 main factors had hold their business back: the worsening economic conditions in the US and
some poor real estate decisions, these plagued the company at that moment. Others have suggested
that the increased competition from the likes of McDonald s has contributed to the decline. But surely

Importance Of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Ernest is a comedic play written by Oscar Wilde. It was set and written
during the Victorian Era, and is a parody of the Victorian culture. In the play, there are many different
contrasting characters, including the main character Jack, and Algernon, who we find is his brother
later in the play. Algernon is a very unserious person, who is also quite irresponsible, and just wants
things in life to be fun. We see this a few times throughout the play. For example, when there has been
a big argument between Jack and Algernon and their fiancés, he eats muffins, and says, when asked
about it Well, I can t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter would get on my cuffs. One should

One similarity is that they re both quite deceptive in order to achieve what they want. The reason we
know this is because they both Bunbury . One point where we see Algernon reveal that he thinks
Bunburying , or using a fake identity or person, is an okay and a normal things to do is where he says I
naturally want to talk to you about Bunburying. I want to tell you all of the rules. From this, we know
that he thinks it s a fine thing to do, and we know that he himself is also quite deceitful in that way.
Also, it shows us that he s happy to find out that Jack does the same as him, and him not finding it
strange means that he thinks it s quite a common thing to be done. Both characters are untruthful about
their true identities at different points in the play, with them both pretending to be Ernest

Essay about The Words of the Dying Gaunt
The idea of England as a second paradise in a postlapsarian world was a popular thought in
Shakespeare s day. Not only did Englanders compare their land the to Biblical Eden, but also to
Classical legends that would have flourished in the Renaissance era. The fact that Britain is an island
isolated from the rest of the world invited the comparison of England to mythical islands such as the
Islands of the Blest and Homer s Ogygia (Mackenzie 319). Such comparisons surely originated in the
strong patriotism that thrived in the Elizabethan era. Shakespeare capitalized on this feeling through
his history plays, which both instructed his audience on England s past and fed the patriotic ego of her
citizens (Reese 46). Nowhere does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This warning foreshadows Richard s confiscation of Gaunt s estate and the rebellion staged by
Bullingbrook, Gaunt s son and rightful heir.
The next portion of Gaunt s speech reverberates the idea of England as a second paradise. The image
of England throughout Richard II is not only presented through pictures of glorious landscape and
well tended gardens, but through its citizens, both royal and common (Stauffer 92). Gaunt fluidly but
forcefully presents images of England throughout his speech. He gives a list of qualities in a rhythmic
tour de force (Best), which connects all of England s attributes with the word this :
This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself (40 44)
These images present England as embodying physical attributes given by God.
Gaunt continues this list of attributes by also praising England s citizens by referring to them as This
happy breed of men (45). The land is therefore credited for producing high quality men, lending to the
theme of England as female, fertile and mother to all her inhabitants. She is further

A Revision Of The Controlled Substances Act Essay
Considering a Revision of The Controlled Substances Act Drug abuse and misuse are prominent
problems in the United States, whether the issue is with trafficking, overdoses causing death, illegal
recreational use in adolescents, or even improper prescriptions by medical professionals leading to
physiological dependence. The formerly listed problems stem from outdated, yet current, classification
system of drugs in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The Heroin Epidemic is an example of a
problem concerning improper prescribing in medical practice; this issue began when many medical
professionals began to prescribe potent painkillers to their patients early in their treatments. Over time
and with consistent use, the patients grew to psychologically and physiologically depend on the
painkillers. Eventually, the prescribed painkillers became unaffordable and patients began to depend
on a cheaper drug with similar, yet more dangerous, effects: heroin. As a result, many are addicted to
heroin as compared to prescription drugs. There is also an issue concerning qualified medical
professionals that pill mill, meaning they prescribe Schedule II drugs such as oxycodone with the sole
purpose to make more money; this puts the patient in danger in exchange for the doctor s personal
benefit. As a student pursuing a career in the medical field, I find that the proper implementation and
use of medicine and drugs is vital to providing quality health care, so that events like the heroin

Homecoming Warrior-Personal Narrative
Ten years ago, on June 6, 2006, what seemed to be a regular day turned out to be the worst day of my
life. It was my dad s birthday, and my family planned to go to a family friend s house to eat. If I knew
then what I knew now, I would have talked my dad out of going because it was the day my life
changed.
We got ready and headed out to their house. When we came into the house, I remember the house had
a strong dog stench, and there was dog hair everywhere. There were so many people when we got
there; it was like a family reunion. We greeted everyone, and then headed inside. Everyone sat around
and waited for the food to be finished. After thirty minutes, we finally started to eat. I remember there

Therefore, Ms. Singleton brought an action against her employer. Ms. Singleton claimed the sexual

Thus, an employer violates Title VII when the workplace is filled with discriminatory sex based
intimidation, ridicule, and insult that is sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter the conditions of the
victim s employment and create an abusive working environment. In order to establish that she has an
actionable claim for sexual harassment in the workplace under Title VII, Mrs. Singleton was required
to exhibit that the offensive conduct was unwelcome, was based on her sex, was sufficiently severe or
pervasive to alter the conditions of her employment and create an abusive work environment, and was

whether a work environment is sufficiently hostile by looking at all the circumstances, including the
frequency of the discriminatory conduct; its severity; whether it is physically threatening or
humiliating, or a mere insulting statement, and whether it unreasonably interferes with an employee s
work performance. It is established that simple teasing, offhand comments, and isolated incidents will
not amount to discriminatory changes in the terms and conditions of employment. Title VII is not

Analysis Of Born A Crime By Trevor Noah
Born A Crime by Trevor Noah, is a compelling memoir allowing its readers insight into Noah s daily
life, under apartheid. Just like the title, Trevor Noah was born a crime. To explain, During apartheid,
one of the worst crimes you could commit was having relations with a person of another race...my
parents committed that crime (Noah 21). Trevor Noah was a mixed child. As a child, he had
difficulties fitting in, but that didn t stop him from identifying with both races. Trevor Noah became a
chameleon. Although, some may say it s impossible to identify and relate to various cultures Trevor
Noah proved them wrong. He says, My color didn t change, but I could change your perception of my
color (Noah 56). Trevor Noah used language and behavior tactics to become a cultural chameleon.
Just like Trevor Noah, is able to adapt to his environment and culture; a chameleon is able to change
its color to merge into his environment, as well. For example, Noah was fluent in many languages and
that became one of his strongest tools. Noah explains If you spoke to me in Zulu, I replied to you in
Zulu... Maybe I didn t look like you, but if I spoke like you, I am you (Noah 56). Language is a
powerful tool used to unite various strangers to comfortable acquaintances. Apartheid knew this and
part of the effort to divide black people was to make sure we were separated not just physically but by
language as well (Noah 49) to further racism. Throughout Trevor Noah s life, he learned to use the
tool of language to his benefit. Furthermore, Noah used his abilities to blend in during life
endangering situations. For example, one day Noah overheard a group of Zulu guys plotting to mug
this white guy. Speaking Zulu, Noah was able to turn around and say Yo, guys, why don t we just mug
someone together (Noah 55). The fact that Noah was able to speak Zulu, it saved him from an
unfortunate experience. The boys realized he was just like one of them and decided not to harm him.
Additionally, Noah and his mother was able to get out of a sticky situation in a store, because his
mother was able to speak Afrikaans (Noah 55). Additionally, as another example, Trevor Noah found
himself in jail. There was a man, who looked intimidating

Sensitive Periods During The Caterpillar Of The Prosthesis...
SENSITIVE PERIODS
Introduction:
Sensitive periods is a term developed by the Dutch geneticist Hugo de Vries and later used by the
Italian educator Maria Montessori.
Montessori cites DeVries example of a Sensitive Period in the caterpillar of the Prosthesis butterfly.
The caterpillar must feed on very tender leaves, and yet the butterfly lays its eggs in the most hidden
fork of the branch, near the trunk of the tree. Who will show the little caterpillars hidden there, the
moment they leave the egg, that the tender leaves they need are to be found at the extreme tip of the
branch, in the light? Now the caterpillar is strongly sensible to light; light attracts it, summons it as by
an irresistible voice, fascinates it, and the caterpillar goes wriggling towards where the light is
brightest, till it reaches the tip of the branch, and thus finds itself, famished for food, among the
budding leaves that can give it nourishment. It is a strange fact that when the caterpillar has passed
through its first stage and is full grown, it can eat other food, and then loses its sensibility to light. This
has been proved in scientific laboratories where there are neither trees nor leaves but only the
caterpillar and the light.
According to Montessori sensitive periods, refers to several overlapping periods of development
where a child is sensitive to a particular stimuli or type of interaction. A child passes through special
times in his life when he easily incorporates a particular

Alfred Gell calls the art nexus. In his book Art and Agency, Gell s theory of the art nexus considers the
living presence response where viewers, or recipients, react to works of art as if they are living beings
or even persons, that in turn act back upon the viewer, entering into a personal relationship with them
that elicit a feeling or reaction. Through the art nexus, Gell demonstrates how art objects are able to

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the
addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their
bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary being
my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in
the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. In many of
the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers movements in the

The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a
deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement.
During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The
areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while
doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements
such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much
training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do
splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body
movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it
requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz
derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be
and how it supposed to be articulated. One of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is
that in jazz gravity is felt a different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

A Comparison Of Malcom X And Malcolm X
Malcolm X, over the years, was an interesting man, in the terms of his beliefs during the civil rights

his views within the first few months of 1964 when he went to Mecca for a pilgrimage. But unlike
Malcolm X, Martin Luther was a Baptist like his father and believed that desegregation can occur by a

also believed that with the combined efforts of blacks and whites desegregation is possible. Within

The Ethics Of Computers With Ai

Rules can be implemented easily since they are categorical. Another approach would be to teach the

The Importance Of Global Citizenship
As Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader, once said, I have no country to fight for, my country is
the earth, and I am a citizen of the world . Countless of once exclusive societies are nowadays
associated with each other in one way or another through various fields such as communications,
business, travel, entertainment or political figures, and various more. Throughout the past few years,
the attention surrounding the topic of Global Citizenship has increased at an abrupt rate by being
addressed via many individuals among a wide range of religious, social, political or economic
establishments, or educational institutions that are constantly encouraging students to pursue interests
in the enhancement of their knowledge towards an increasingly interconnected world. Throughout the
Faith, Global Citizenship and World Religions course it has been shown through the material that was
taught that by constantly scrutinizing personal points of view, while at the same time enhancing
tolerance towards that of others, defining and correspondingly respecting identities, in addition to
incorporating mindfulness and concern to everyday lives may impulse individuals to act towards the
making of a global community. During the course, it was established that faith undoubtedly plays a
substantial character in the development of the understanding of how an interconnected society
functions, specially in the framework of varying personal or social philosophies. A significant factor in

The Invention Of Inkjet Printing
The concept of inkjet printing originated in the 20th century, and the technology was first extensively
developed in the early 1950s. Starting in the late 1970s inkjet printers that could reproduce digital
images generated by computers were developed, mainly by Epson, Hewlett Packard (HP), and Canon.
Although inkjet printers only appeared on the consumer market in the late 1980s, they had been under
development for more than twenty years by that time. In the mid 1970s, printer companies realized the
potential of the technology that would make dot matrix printers obsolete. The challenge, however, was
to come up with a way to create an affordable inkjet printer that would reliably create high quality
print outs .In the worldwide consumer market, four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet
printer sales: Canon, HP, Epson, and Lexmark, a 1991 spin off from IBM.[1]( IBM Archives: 1990s .
03.ibm.com. Retrieved 2012 09 12.) Continuous Ink Jet
The continuous ink jet method is used commercially for marking and coding of products and
packages. The first patent on the idea is from 1867, by William Thomson. The first commercial model
was introduced in 1951 by Siemens. In continuous ink jet technology, a high pressure pump directs
liquid ink from a reservoir through a microscopic nozzle, creating a continuous stream of ink droplets.
A piezoelectric crystal causes the stream of liquid to break into droplets at regular intervals. The ink
droplets are subjected to an

Two Differences And The Characteristics Of Business...
1) There are several characteristics that make business communication a form of problem solving.
Within business, there are a lot of moving pieces with employers being assigned different tasks that
are all part running a business successfully. Without being able to communicate well with one another,
then the issues or tasks would not be coordinated correctly. Like other problem solving activities,
business communication helps close the gap between a situation and a solution. As a goal focused
enterprise, business is all about solving problems, and so, therefore, is business communications. 2)
Before becoming a stay at home mother, I worked for a flight school in San Diego. Every day was
comprised of external operational and internal operation communication since I was a Client Relations
Manager and usually the first face our clients would see. A few examples of external communication
would be when I spoke with our clients in regards to their scheduling and accounts this then would
turn into internal communication when I would relate the information to my co workers (the flight
instructors) and the president of our company. Another example would be whenever we would post on
Facebook our public post would be external communication because it would be reaching others that
are not within the current business structure, but when I would plan the advertisement through our
marketing/Facebook technician this would be considered internal communications. 3) The

Informative Essay On Donald Trump
Naomi Benford Thad Prater U.S. Government 124 December 2017Trump epitomizes Abuse of Power
The day of November 8th 2016 would be a day that changed the United States forever. This was the
day that Donald Trump, a professional and very much so emotional tweeter, was elected as the 45th
President of the United States. Commonly known as a business mogul, he is also a reality TV star. A
mogul is a very influential and powerful person in a business or industry. A reality tv star is a person
who has gained social recognition through their appearance on television. Reality TV is supposedly an
inside look into the un scripted documentary into the life of someone. Donald John Trump was born in
Queens New York on June 14, 1946. Donald Trump stated that he was strongly influenced by his
father in his decision to pursue the career of real estate development, despite his degree in economics.
He graduated from Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Donald Trump first
became best known when he was able to take an unprofitable hotel, revamp it, and then make huge
profits. The Trump tower brought Donald national recognition. Donald Trump is known for his
immature tweeting and controversial decisions as the president of the United States. He is the reason
that there are more hateful people coming out in the US. He makes them believe that they can be more
open and aggressive which is not right. I believe that Donald Trump will be the reason or at least hold
a key role in the creation of World
2War III. There have been many occurrences that have had negative outcomes with Donald Trump. He
is very impulsive, overly dominant, and inconsiderate. There have been many instances where Donald
Trump has been accused of abusing his power. When Donald Trump was first elected into office, on
the same day of the beginning of his presidency period, he signed an executive order that intended to
dismantle the Affordable HealthCare Act, commonly known as Obamacare. Donald Trump says that
by doing this he will lower certain taxes but he was oblivious to the fact that he was disassembling
healthcare for almost 20 million people. He is an elderly incompetent businessman who has no
consideration for the people in the United

Investigate and find the relationship between heat loss...
To investigate the relationship between surface area : volume ratio and heat loss.
INTRODUCTION:
The aim of this experiment is to investigate and find the relationship between heat loss (of water) and
surface area to volume ratio of animals. To investigate this, we are going to use three flasks of
different volume (as the equivalent the animals) and thus different surface areas filled with water.
BACKGROUND:
Surface Area : Volume Ratios
We will be using the following formula for calculating SA:Vol ratios:
SA : Vol
Vol : Vol
100ml flask = 115 : 100 = 1.15 : 1
100 : 100
250ml flask = 230 : 250 = 0.92 : 1
250 : 250
500ml flask = 330 : 500 = 0.66:1
500 : 500
The factors effecting heat loss:
1.Energy Levels
2.Climate / air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second and third experiment was also accurate, however the line of best fit does not go through all
the points, in the evaluation section I can explain why this could be.
On the graphs I have plotted the basic formula of a linear line of y = mx + c. As we can see the
gradient for the 100ml flask at 0.97 was fractionally (0.01 out) more than double that of the 500ml
flask at 0.48 which proves to us the prediction was correct. So as a statement we can say: Heat loss
occurs at twice the speed for the 100ml flask than the 500ml flask due to the fact that the gradient of
the line of best fit for the 100ml flask is double that of the 500ml flask. Also we can see that the 250ml
flask lost it s waters heat at somewhere between that of the 100ml and 500ml flask, proving my
prediction correct.
From the results I can say that, SA to volume ratio does affect the rate of heat loss.
Evaluation of Results:
I thought that most of my results were very accurate. However there were a number of points out of
place that I could improve on. On the 250ml experiment the reading between six and eight minutes
appeared to be incorrect compared with the average heat loss in the same experiment. This could have
been

In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor in this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and beneficially located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy had little choice but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the market and foreign trade. The Medici maintained these connections rooted and stable by way of finance and politics and guaranteed that Florence, throughout the Renaissance, was an advocate of the arts. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the Medici and the Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under the essence of partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many Florentine artists with a harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the papal funds. 2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that the Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages? If so, what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the Renaissance? Regardless of the likenesses to medieval art encircling subject matter and theme, Renaissance artists undoubtedly interrupted the stagnant standards of medieval art. To me, God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my image or changes it. So, I began to think how these simulators could reduce the clinical errors in research. My hypothesis (state of affairs) could be: Clinical research nurses who practice on simulators are more likely to have fewer medical errors then those who do not. I will be referring to the textbook called, Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F. Ellen Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults in attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Outline The Doctrine Of R2P OUTLINE THE DOCTRINE OF R2P Over centuries the international community has witnessed the deadly harm of sovereign states that have demonstrated acts of colossal inhumanity, such as the atrocities of the Holocaust, Khmer Rouge and Rwanda. All these episodes have contributed of an introduction to a new paradigm of international of law, The Responsibly to Protect (R2P). This was adopted unanimously in 2005 by United Nations General assembly World Summit. The R2P doctrine is based on 3 pillars of responsibility: 1. Each nation state is obligated to protect its populace from crimes such as genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity . 2.The international community has to encourage states to uphold their role in ensuring R2P is adequately met. 3. If the nation state fails to protect its populace from these crimes, it therefore it becomes an implication for the international community to collectively take action. Notably this must be in accordance to article 39 of the United Nations Charter. Hence, academic scholar Bellamy reinforces this; R2P offers the best change in our own time to build an international community that is less tolerant of mass atrocities and more predisposed to preventing them . However it must be noted that the doctrine of R2P is not legally binding. Ironically, this is perceived through the exaggerated emotive language of having them replaced by a direst cruelty . Lady Macbeth pleads, make thick my blood, stop up the passage to remorse , conveying that if her blood was made thicker the blood flow throughout her body would slow down and natural human functions would shut down. Metaphorically she wants the flow of remorse and pity to be cut off, and to be unhuman. Furthermore, she pleads that her breast milk is turned to bile. A woman s breasts have the natural function to feed, and is a source of life for a growing baby, while bile is a bitter, foul green coloured substance made in the liver which provides no nourishment. Allegorically, this links back to Lady Macbeth s reversal of nature and challenge of gender expectations. Shakespeare cleverly weaves this allegory through the play to symbolise a warning to Lady Macbeth and or women of the 17th century, for what will happen if they rebel and challenge societal expectations. Consequently, Macbeth gains in murderous masculinity, ordering killing after killing, while Lady Macbeth lapses back into the feminine helplessness she had earlier rejected. The fact that Britain is an island isolated from the rest of the world invited the comparison of England to mythical islands such as the Islands of the Blest and Homer s Ogygia (Mackenzie 319). A Revision Of The Controlled Substances Act Essay Considering a Revision of The Controlled Substances Act Drug abuse and misuse are prominent problems in the United States, whether the issue is with trafficking, overdoses causing death, illegal recreational use in adolescents, or even improper prescriptions by medical professionals leading to physiological dependence. The formerly listed problems stem from outdated, yet current, classification system of drugs in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The Heroin Epidemic is an example of a problem concerning improper prescribing in medical practice; this issue began when many medical professionals began to prescribe potent painkillers to their patients early in their treatments. Over time and with consistent use, the patients grew to psychologically and physiologically depend on the painkillers. Eventually, the prescribed painkillers became unaffordable and patients began to depend on a cheaper drug with similar, yet more dangerous, effects: heroin. As a result, many are addicted to heroin as compared to prescription drugs. There is also an issue concerning qualified medical professionals that pill mill, meaning they prescribe Schedule II drugs such as oxycodone with the sole purpose to make more money; this puts the patient in danger in exchange for the doctor s personal benefit. Thus, an employer violates Title VII when the workplace is filled with discriminatory sex based intimidation, ridicule, and insult that is sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter the conditions of the victim s employment and create an abusive working environment. In order to establish that she has an actionable claim for sexual harassment in the workplace under Title VII, Mrs. Singleton was required to exhibit that the offensive conduct was unwelcome, was based on her sex, was sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter the conditions of her employment and create an abusive work environment, and was imputable to her employer (Wellington James, 2015). Essentially, the case could go in light of the defendant. Despite the fact that Ms. Singleton did not prove that the offending conduct was sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter the conditions of her employment. Generally, we determine whether a work environment is sufficiently hostile by looking at all the circumstances, including the frequency of the discriminatory conduct; its severity; whether it is physically threatening or humiliating, or a mere insulting statement, and whether it unreasonably interferes with an employee s work performance. It is established that simple teasing, offhand comments, and isolated incidents will not amount to discriminatory changes in the terms and conditions of employment. Just like the title, Trevor Noah was born a crime. To explain, During apartheid, one of the worst crimes you could commit was having relations with a person of another race...my parents committed that crime (Noah 21). Trevor Noah was a mixed child. As a child, he had difficulties fitting in, but that didn t stop him from identifying with both races. Trevor Noah became a chameleon. Although, some may say it s impossible to identify and relate to various cultures Trevor Noah proved them wrong. He says, My color didn t change, but I could change your perception of my color (Noah 56). Trevor Noah used language and behavior tactics to become a cultural chameleon. Just like Trevor Noah, is able to adapt to his environment and culture; a chameleon is able to change its color to merge into his environment, as well. For example, Noah was fluent in many languages and that became one of his strongest tools. Noah explains If you spoke to me in Zulu, I replied to you in Zulu... Maybe I didn t look like you, but if I spoke like you, I am you (Noah 56). Language is a powerful tool used to unite various strangers to comfortable acquaintances. Apartheid knew this and part of the effort to divide black people was to make sure we were separated not just physically but by language as well (Noah 49) to further racism. Throughout Trevor Noah s life, he learned to use the tool of language to his benefit. Furthermore, Noah used his abilities to blend in during life endangering situations. For example, one day Noah overheard a group of Zulu guys plotting to mug this white guy. Speaking Zulu, Noah was able to turn around and say Yo, guys, why don t we just mug someone together (Noah 55). The fact that Noah was able to speak Zulu, it saved him from an unfortunate experience. The boys realized he was just like one of them and decided not to harm him. Additionally, Noah and his mother was able to get out of a sticky situation in a store, because his mother was able to speak Afrikaans (Noah 55). • 30. Sensitive Periods During The Caterpillar Of The Prosthesis... SENSITIVE PERIODS Introduction: Sensitive periods is a term developed by the Dutch geneticist Hugo de Vries and later used by the Italian educator Maria Montessori. Montessori cites DeVries example of a Sensitive Period in the caterpillar of the Prosthesis butterfly. The caterpillar must feed on very tender leaves, and yet the butterfly lays its eggs in the most hidden fork of the branch, near the trunk of the tree. Who will show the little caterpillars hidden there, the moment they leave the egg, that the tender leaves they need are to be found at the extreme tip of the branch, in the light? Now the caterpillar is strongly sensible to light; light attracts it, summons it as by an irresistible voice, fascinates it, and the caterpillar goes wriggling towards where the light is brightest, till it reaches the tip of the branch, and thus finds itself, famished for food, among the budding leaves that can give it nourishment. It is a strange fact that when the caterpillar has passed through its first stage and is full grown, it can eat other food, and then loses its sensibility to light. This has been proved in scientific laboratories where there are neither trees nor leaves but only the caterpillar and the light. According to Montessori sensitive periods, refers to several overlapping periods of development where a child is sensitive to a particular stimuli or type of interaction. During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts.
