Essay about A Very Brief History on the Existence of God
The subsequent essay will provide a brief overview on the existence of God from René Descartes
through Immanuel Kant. First, section (1), examines Descartes proof for the existence of God. Section
(2), explores G.W. Leibniz s view on God s existence in addition to his attempts to rectify the
shortcomings of Descartes proofs. Before continuing, it is imperative to understand that both
Descartes and Leibniz believed that the existence of God could be proved via reason. The remainder
of the essay then examines two additional philosophers, David Hume in section (4) and Immanuel
Kant in (5), who contend that God s existence cannot be rationally proven.
(1)
Being a devout Catholic, Descartes undeniably believed in God. He makes this ... Show more content

Putting this in simple terms, the innate idea of God is like a stamp which says Made by God .
Additionally, Descartes reasons that because he exists with an innate idea of God, God then must also
exist. He explicitly states this: I have no choice but to conclude that the mere fact of my existing is and
of there being in me an idea of a most perfect being, that is God, demonstrates most evidently that
God too exists (34).
In the Fifth Meditation, Descartes offers a second, but similar proof for God s existence. Descartes
begins by asserting that a triangle, even if it does not exist anywhere in the world still has a certain
determinate nature, essence, or form which is unchangeable and eternal which is not fabricated and
which does not depend on the mind (43). He then uses this idea as the basis for his second proof of
God s existence. Based upon the notion of a triangle, Descartes believes that the existence of God
ought to have ... some degree of certainty that truths of mathematics have (44). For Descartes there is
no less a contradiction in conceiving a supremely perfect being who lacks existence than there is in
conceiving a triangle whose interior angles do not sum to 180° (Oppy). Descartes again presumes (like
he did for the proof in the Third Meditation) that because he has an idea of God, God must, therefore,
exist. After establishing the second proof for God s existence, Descartes then bases many things,
including

Why Did You Choose For Pursue A Career For The Television...
This past summer, when I had time to investigate upcoming shows for this season, I happened upon a
show that captured my attention Time After Time. At that point, not much was written about it, but I
discovered that one of the directors and executive producers was a man by the name of Marcos Siega.
He quickly agreed to an interview (they were in the throes of filming at that point). Due to my crazy
schedule, I had to postpone the posting of this fantastic piece until now, but seeing how the premiere
of his new show is tonight (March 5th), it seems like a perfect time to understand a bit more about one
of the men who is behind this remarkably intriguing show.

Since you weren t able to go to film school, were you just learning on the job or were people
mentoring you?
I would say it was a little bit of everything. I became a production assistant here in New York and
started working on any production that I could. It was what I wanted to do. When I started directing
music videos, you go out and surround yourself with like minded people. So I learned a lot by just
doing. I didn t have any formal training, but when you re doing it and you re figuring it out on your
own, I think in some ways, you learn faster and you learn more cause you re forced into it. I have done
all sorts of things. I have been a cinematographer, an editor, and a producer. I got my hands dirty with
having to do a little bit of everything on the music videos I was directing cause they were not big
budgets. I couldn t hire a ton of people to do the work. So that was my learning experience. I also had
a real love for theater, and as a director, you lean into the visuals of directing. There are directors who
are known as actor s directors, and I think I fall somewhere in between cause I really love storytelling
and I had a real appreciation for filmmakers and directors who could adapt something to the stage and
make you feel something by watching something in person without artificially doing it and without all
the gloss of what I was doing in the music video world.
As far as film school goes, I have a lot of my friends who went to film

The Shroud Of Turin Analysis
The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth bearing the image of a man who appears to have
suffered from physical harm in a fashion resembling Roman crucifixion. This image, in accordance
with the belief of millions, is the imprint of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. However, there is much
indecision over its authenticity. Science has not yet come to a conclusion on the legitimacy of the
Shroud. This paper will present the evidence for both the Shroud of Turin s authenticity (that it was
the burial cloth of Jesus), and the reasons for the belief for its possible forgery.
The Shroud of Turin is currently preserved in an underground vault in the Cathedral of Saint John the
Baptist in Turin, Italy, within a climate controlled casket. The material measures 4.4meters by
1.9meters. Down the center of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frederick Zugibe examined the Shroud and how accurately the injuries matched the process of
crucifixion. He looked at how the nails were driven through the hands and feet. The shroud shows a
pool of blood near the one visible wrist and the feet looked punctured as if by one nail. Also, as the
romans strike the nail into each hand, the nerve damage causes the thumb to twist inward and under
the palms. A thorough examination of the shroud revealed exactly this. The thumbs were hidden
underneath the palms, just as one would expect. The facial imprint wasn t symmetrical and showed
signs of a beating.
Blood flowing from small cuts that seeped into the material made by the crown of thorns accurately
matched the trail the liquid would follow when the forehead muscles contract in pain. Lacerations
covered the back and a pool of blood was identified in the upper side of the torso, with blood flowing
down from that place. All these injuries were consistent with Jesus described execution. Zugibe stated
that from the Forensic Pathology point of view, it is totally consistent with a crucified individual. I

Swot Analysis Of Fonterra
1. Introduction
The purpose of this business report to be made is to specifically analyse a multinational company on
how well they use their marketing mix strategy from their original home country and the foreign
market that they venture in.
In this report, a well known multinational company from New Zealand called Fonterra will be analyse

Essay on Political Culture of Mexico
Mexican Political Culture
As once put by Mexican Nobel laureate Octavio Paz, Mexico is a land of super imposed pasts
(McCormick, p.326). It continues to be and is seen as a melding pot of its European and Native
American ideas about society, law and government. Its history has had a major influence on the
political culture of Mexico, seen through years of revolution, violence and corruption. Mexico is a
considered a new democracy, but there is a tension still seen between democracy and authoritarianism.
The country we see today has impressive growth yet is still enduring poverty. It s a geographically
diverse country, with a population of approximately 106million people. Latin American political
culture is seen as elitist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that in December 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared on three occasions to a Christian Indian,
Juan Diego, six kilometers north of Mexico City, and identified herself as Guadalupe. It is said that the
Guadalupe symbol links family, politics and religion; the colonial past and the independent present;
and the Indian and the Mexican. It reflects the salient social relationships of Mexican life and
embodies the emotions they generate. (Merrill Miró, Religion) Devotion to the Virgin Guadalupe
remains strong even as Mexican society changes. For example, in a national opinion poll found, nine
out of ten Mexicans still continued to ask intercessions from the Virgin or another saint. (Merrill Miró,
Religion) Another huge aspect of Mexican political culture is the Constitution of 1917. Many
Mexicans attribute the origins of the political system in Mexico to the Revolution of 1910 1920 and it
s Constitution of 1917. Unlike their American neighbors, the people of Mexico focus and look to the
past, not the future, to there missed dreams and hopes. Many people of Mexico support and have faith

institutions. (McCormick p.333) The Constitution is seen more as an outline of the goals Mexico has
aspired for. Their believe in the Constitution but recognize it as a work in progress as it still contains

Abstract: I have selected the following paper, Streptococcus Pneumoniae Invades Erythrocytes and
Utilizes them to Evade Human Innate Immunity, to present and review for an assignment.
Streptococcus Pneumoniae is the cause of pneumonia and sepsis. Erythrocytes, which are found in
blood, contain nutrients that factor into bacterial growth. Yamaguchi et al studied the interactions
between S. pneumoniae and erythrocytes. The researchers found that the Iron ion present in human
erythrocytes helped the growth of a sepsis pathogen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While all of this information has been gathered, the behavior of S. pneumoniae in blood remains
poorly understood. Erythrocytes, making up 40 50% of blood volume (Yamaguchi et al 2013), are a
key component for cellular respiration. Erythrocytes contain abundant nutrients like iron which is
required for life in nearly all forms. In this study, the researchers provide evidence that iron in red
blood cells partially inhibit pneumococcal growth and that S. pneumoniae has the ability to invade
human erythrocytes, supporting their hypothesis. By using a neutrophile bactericidal assay, the
researchers were also able to show that the survival rate for S. Pneumoniae in cultures with
erythrocytes increased 3x. The results also display that the pathogen s use of erythrocyte components
enables it to evades the immune system of the host.
Materials and Methods: As describes in Yamaguchi et al, the researchers purchased S. pneumoniae
strain D39 from the National Collection of Type Cultures. S. pneumoniae strain R6, which is an
unencapsulated derivative D39, was provided by Dr. Shin ichi Yokota. The primers used are given.
Primers are short sequences of DNA or RNA that is used as a starting point for transcription in DNA
synthesis. The PCR technique is used in biology labs to create a large amount of copies of a piece of
cut DNA, specifically DNA primers in this experiment(McEntee 8) S.pneumoniae and S. aureus were

Shawshank Redemption Research Paper
Ever SINCE the popularity of movies exploded, film geeks continue to debate the single movie to rule
them all. WITHOUT A DOUBT, The Godfather is considered a masterpiece by many.
FURTHERMORE, the subsequent Godfather sequels are excellent in their own right. The Shawshank
Redemption is unquestionably a classic film, AS WELL. ALSO, one or even several movies in a series
have their share of bragging rights. CASE IN POINT: the original Star Wars trilogy, The Lord of the
Rings trilogy, and the Indiana Jones films, to name a few. (Speaking of which, did you catch the Lord
of the Rings reference PREVIOUSLY?) NATURALLY, one could never forget the movie Psycho,
with its chilling storyline and plot twist. ADDITIONALLY, The Wizard of Oz still holds up extremely
well, despite its age. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ALTHOUGH it is easy to award older and more classic movies with a badge of honor, there are
numerous recent films that deserve praise. CURRENTLY, animation studio Pixar is the champion of
this category. In the face of outstanding animated works such as Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Wall E,
Inside Out, Up, and countless short films, most other animated movies pale BY COMPARISION.
YET one film is strangely absent Forrest Gump. One cannot open up a discussion about great movies
and not mention Forrest Gump, and though it may not be the best movie ever, it is STILL a superb
work of art. (That classic line will FOREVER be remembered: Run, Forrest, Run! ) OF COURSE,
foreign films are also a huge contender in this debate. Spirited Away, FOR EXAMPLE, won the
Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2002. ON THE WHOLE, people can feverishly support
their best film until the end of time, but what it all comes down to is a matter of opinion. AS A
RESULT, it must be understood that it is okay to like something whether the general opinion on it is
good or bad what matters is that it brings you joy in some

I Read Is Hatchet Book Report
Hatchet Book Report The book I read is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It is about a thirteen year old boy
named Brian. This story takes place in the Canadian wilderness without a specified time. I think this
book is both interesting and helpful because of its contents.
To summarize the story, Brain was the sole passenger on the tiny Cessna 406 bush plane. He was
flying from the U.S. to Canada to spend summer break with his father after his parents divorced. The
pilot has a heart attack and the plane ends up crashing in a lake after Brain controlling it for a few
hours. Brain survived. He is now alone in the wilderness. Al he has there are himself and a hatchet that
his mom has given him.

He kept telling himself There, keep it that way. Short thoughts. (44) he did that in order to organize his
thoughts and not freak out. I admire that part about him because there won t be someone always there
to help you. Sometimes you are the one who has to comfort yourself.
Brain went through so much alone in the wilderness. He had faced wild animals such as a bear, a
skunk, and foxes. He knew how to deal with them for the most part. When the foxes were near him, he
knew to keep calm, not move, and wait until they leave. When the bear entered his home, he scared it
with fire so it won t come back. The skunk had attacked him without a warning but Brian knew how to
deal with the aftermath. He ran to the lake, took off his clothes, and jumped in. If it wasn t for this
story, I wouldn t have know how to act when there is a dangerous animal in me, how to build a home,
or catch fish and food.
His first attempt to get food was search for fruit. He walked around keeping the lake in his sight so he
won t get lost. That was a smart move because I would have wandered around forgetting about the
lake. He wanted to stay by the lake not only for the water but because when people come to rescue
him, they will notice him by the water rather than between trees. Which, again, I would have never
thought about.
I also learned how to make fire, home, and catch fish thanks to him. When making a fire, he needed
fuel, so he got bark. He also needed oxygen, so he was

The Fashion Industry In The Devil Wears Prada
It can be said that the Fashion industry is not for everyone, especially Anne Hathaway s character in
the 2006 Film The Devil Wears Prada. The fashion industry is one of the hardest business to work in

Mirandas demands for a year Andy can only hope she will score a job as a reporter or writer else
where, so the question is will she do it? When Andy begins her job as the junior assistant you can
definitely see that she struggles a lot. Andy walking in had no sense of style, had no knowledge of
what Runway Magazine was, and also had no idea that many people had wanted her position at this
company. In fact the first day that Andy arrives at runway magazines home office she is absolutely
appalled. Emily Charlton, Miranda s Senior assistant was supposed to interview Andy, but

The Arrows Between Cortisol And The Three Core Needs
The arrows between cortisol and the three core needs are shown as a dashed arrow to reflect the
negative relationships against fandom/ fanship formation. The solid arrows circulate from output to
sporting events participation reveal the impacts of different psychological or behavioral consequences
may influence the desire to participate in sporting events, therefore, activate next round of
neurochemical release. Hence, the fanatic behavior will be continually reinforced or weakened.
For example, a blowout loss to an archrival or a shocking loss to a lower seeded opponent may cause
negative emotions such as displeasure, anger and shame, thus trigger cortisol. At that moment, the fan
realizes that he cannot satisfy his needs, so he tries to do something to stop the anger. He may avoid
discussing the shameful experience with his friends or refuse to read or watch any media coverage of
this embarrassing loss (Partridge, Wann, Elison, 2010). If he undergoes this suffering frequently, his
fandom identification and spectating motivation will eventually vanish and then he may try to involve
in another activity that can trigger his happy chemicals and satisfy his needs.
Spectating sporting events does not produce negative outcomes all the time; it actually can trigger
another type of chemicals that make sport fans want to maximize their participation. For instance,
when a football fan steps into the stadium, the rhythmic swaying of fellow fans or the coordinated

Franz Joseph Haydn s Symphony No. 94 Symphony
When listening to Classical music I think of rich, precise, high quality, and pristine music that either
gives you relaxing feeling or gives you that want to dance feeling. One of my favorite composers of
this era was Franz Joseph Haydn and he incorporated both of these feelings in his arrangements.
Franz Joseph Haydn was born in 1732 in Austria. He struggled early in life and worked as a freelance
musician. He began his career singing soprano at Saint Stephen s Cathedral and later started giving
keyboard lessons, playing in street bands, and singing or playing violin and organ at three different
churches every Sunday (Wright, C. M., 2014, p.159, para. 2). In 1779, Haydn signed a contract with

movement minuet and trio. The piece has a stately dance feel to it with a very solid rhythm, nice
melody, and a rich full sound. It is written in ternary form and the entire minuet trio minuet forms an
ABA arrangement (Wright, C.M., 2014, p. 166). The divisions between sections of the piece are well
indicated and recognized by a change of theme, instrumentation, and volume. I really liked the way
the timpani helped accentuate the beat and help give the piece a driving tempo at times. The
woodwinds and strings also flowed well together as if telling a story. Some of the things that stuck out
to me and make this an enjoyable symphony were the rich full sound of the orchestra instruments
along with the bouncy rhythm and tempo. While listening to the arrangement I could hardly sit still,
the music just made me want to move with it. It gave me the mental image of a large stately ballroom
with numerous dancers dancing about. I also liked the way different sections of the arrangement were
easily recognized by a change in volume and

A myth that many college age users like to believe is that there are numerous ways we can speed up
the process of becoming sober. These commonly believed methods include, drinking coffee, taking a
cold shower or exercising. There is only one way that a drinker can sober up and that is to let the liver
breakdown the alcohol. This process can differ in people depending on their individual rate of
metabolism, but overall this is a slow process that requires a significant amount of time and cannot be
sped up by outside means. Another commonly accepted myth and one that is often encouraged is that
drinking hard liquor will get you drunk faster than drinking beer. In fact, the amount of alcohol in one
beer is equal to the amount of alcohol in one shot of hard liquor, (U.S. Department of Health, 1977).
Although many of these myths would be beneficial to our drinking experiences, they are all in fact
false and users of alcohol must be aware of them.

We made it to Whitman Mission. It s burned down and there is nothing left. Literally everything is

Amanda Todd Analysis
The two symptoms that Amanda Todd exhibits is: Feeling of worthlessness or Guilt, and Depressed
mood brought about, by a mistake she had done when she was 7th grade which was flashing her boobs
in the internet, the symptoms at this point was only at the distress criteria maybe level 2 to 3 because
she was out going and vibrant before the incident until she was called out then she felt oh well I made
a mistake I have to pay for it life goes on. Then she felt alone and left out or she feels she does not fit
in anymore after she was called out by a cyber bully who showed her nude pictures to everyone she
knew, including the police. Therefore she had to move to another city. After a time she said she was
doing better until this person again found her and her symptoms again appeared .This action
manifested these symptoms to show itself as signs of depression and moved the level to about 5

factor theory because the arousal of Amanda wanting so badly for someone to like or love her and that
she does not want to be alone anymore made her turn to make this mistake. After being confronted by
the guy s girlfriend her feeling of worthlessness and depression developed into hurting herself to the
extreme of extinguishing her own life which moved the scale to level 9.

Poetry Finds Its Most Memorable Moments In Its Least...
Poetry finds its most memorable moments in its least characterized elements. It is in the words that are
not on the paper or spoken that poetry shines over other forms of communication. The quality and
depth of implications in a poem are what separate good from great. It is in the ability to say so much
by purposely not saying anything that makes poetry stand out in an observer s mind. Things left
incomplete or unsaid naturally stick out in people s minds as there is a want to see the full image or
completed thought. Leaving it open for interpretation not only promotes greater attention to other
details in the piece in order to make sense of that which is left unsaid, but also naturally promotes

Included in this anthology is a freestyle from Method Man, in it, he narrates a familiar scene unfolding
in the street.
Crime scene, coppers and sirens
Helicopters and high beams, the tensions is rising
Fiends keeping they pipe clean
This is what life means, a dollar and a dream
Everybody wants nice things
The kid was only nineteen, hole in his chest now
He s fighting, for his last breath
He s seeing death its frightening
The grip on the ghetto is tightening
You try to do the right thing? They do you just like King
In this narration, Method Man includes enough detail to give a vivid mental image of the scene that is
being played out in front of the listener. He masterfully uses different pronunciations and meter in
order to keep the rhythm through the piece and maintain his rhymes. He pronounces sirens like sireens
in order to rhyme it with high beams, and mixes in masculine rhymes at the beginning of his sentences
and feminine rhymes at the ends. With these tools he creates the image and implants it in the listener s
mind, but leaves out enough detail so that it could be any teen, shot for any reason, in any ghetto.
These important details being left unsaid give the rap a message that is applicable to any number of
people.

The History of the Golden Gate Bridge Essay
Stretching across the San Francisco Bay stands the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge is
located in one of nature s most beautiful settings, spanning the mile wide bay from Fort Point in San
Francisco to the Marin County Shore. Joseph Strauss, specializing in bridge building, was the leader
of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. The start of construction began on January 5, 1993 and,
after four years, was completed on April 27, 1997. The bridge was needed to be built because of the
growing population after the California Gold Rush. The bridge was a difficult task for engineers and is
now an inspiration. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the largest suspension bridges and is well
known around the world. The Golden Gate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was most certainly familiar with the job.
In 1919, a study was begun to see if it would be possible to build a bridge across the Golden Gate.
Michael O Shaughnessy was the San Francisco city engineer. He was in charge of the rebuilding of
the city after the devastating 1906 earthquake that destroyed much of the city. O Shaughnessy knew
the need for the city to have bridges. Most said it could not be done and others said it could be done
but it would cost about $100 million to build it (Barter 23). O Shaughnessy and Strauss, both wanting
the same thing, got together. After the two consulted, they figured the only way to bridge the channel
was to use a suspension bridge.
Once O Shaughnessy and Strauss believed they could build the bridge, politics came into the picture.
In 1923, the California state legislature passes a bill that allowed the establishment of a Golden Gate
Bridge and Highway District. The district s job was to oversee the project and run the bridge once it
was built. Over the next few years, many people spoke up both for and against the building of the
bridge. The land on both ends of the bridge was owned by the U.S. military. Before any plans could
move forward, the military would have to approve the project and give the Bridge District permission
to use War Department land. An army colonel was appointed to hold hearings on the matter and for
seven months, he listened to both

Traditional Gender Roles
Gender roles are the roles that men and women are expected to occupy based on their sex.
Traditionally, many believed that women are more nurturing than men. Therefore, the traditional view
of the feminine gender role prescribes that women should behave in ways that are nurturing. One way
that a woman might engage in the traditional feminine gender role would be to nurture her family by
working full time within the home rather than employment. Men, on the other hand, are presumed by
traditional views of gender roles to be leaders. The traditional view of the masculine gender role,
therefore, suggests that men should be the heads of their households by providing financial support for
the family and making important family decisions. While these views remain dominant throughout
society, perspectives on traditional beliefs about gender roles have improved throughout the twenty
first century. Gender roles are sometimes created on the basis of stereotypes about gender. Gender
stereotypes are oversimplified understandings of males and females and the ... Show more content on

How Does Theseus Value The Giver
The Greeks valued Theseus nobility and bravery, and even today, his traits would be still be valued.
We live in a world where so much time is spent on building a future for ourselves, that it doesn t give
us much time to be adventurous. This is seen in a number books, including Divergent and The Giver.
Divergent revolves about this character who looked down on for being different in a community
where all is standardized. In The Giver, everything is regulated, but one character has a special gift
which makes him stand out. These books are fairly modern, which makes me believe that Theseus
traits would still be valued. Bravery is not something that is common and sticking to your morals can
be difficult when you live in such an opinionated world.

Journal #2: Visual Symbol
A visual symbol that would be considered appropriate and important to the work would be the Magic
Bus. This Magic Bus provided Christopher McCandless with a place of shelter in the American West.
He came across this abandoned bus during his travels and gave it this name because of a song from
The Who which was a British Rock band that Mccandless favored. The author included this visual
symbol in the book most likely for the purpose of demonstrating McCandless belief in luck and hope.
McCandless believed that since he randomly came across a bus in the wild, it was considered a form
of luck because it wasn t likely for someone to come across that during an expedition in the wild. He
also later on eats the wrong berry that unfortunately poisons him, leading to his death that took place
on the old mattress in the Magic Bus; which he viewed as a loss or ending of his luck that he has been
granted with.

A Better Understanding Of Diabetes And How Kids Are...
During the week that we spend at camp I hope that I will have a better understanding of Diabetes and
how kids are dealing and coping with it. Sometimes we forget that when an illness happens in adults it
is totally different on how it affects children so sometimes kids get ignored more often. So I hope this
week will give me a better insight into what it is like for a child with diabetes day to day. My fear
going into this week is that I won t be able to tell when a kid is having a low blood sugar or a high
one. I know what signs to look out for but I don t have a lot of experience with this in kids. Kids are
different on they present than adults so the fear is not recognizing it fast enough to get help for the
child. What I think that I will contribute to the camp team is that I will be able to help with
recognizing signs more quickly of hypo and hyperglycemia even though I still need some work. I
think this will be beneficial because there may be members of the team that are less experienced so
having someone that has at least seen this once will help. The previous experience that I have had with
medically fragile children is going to CCK for a weekend during diabetes weekend and seeing a
glimpse of children with this disease. I got to interact with the kids and play with them as if they had
nothing wrong with them. The kids that were there were amazing to see on how they were coping with
the disease versus their parents. Also what else was neat to see is how

The world has become a much smaller place thanks in part to the creation of the internet. Now, we are
able to communicate and interact with larger and more diverse groups of people than we were able to
in the past. We are no longer confined to the physical space which we occupy, but we are free to
become members of a global community. Thus, we are exposed to various people, cultures, identities,
and conceptions of the human that we were ignorant to previously. At the same time, the internet also
drastically revolutionized our relationship with the media. As discussed by Henry Jenkins in his book

What is important about shipping fic in terms of representation is that a good majority of these
shipping fics portray romantic relationships between members of the same sex. Oftentimes these
relationships have a basis within the subtext of the original work, but the subtextual relationship is not
brought into the textual, most likely due to the lock in. And while there has been a recent increase in
the portrayals of homosexual relationships in the mainstream media, bisexuality gets even less
representation, and in the cases of other sexual orientations such as pansexuality, demisexuality, and
asexuality fanfiction is one of the only places where they can get any representation at all. There has
also been a similar trend in the representation of the transgender community, owing to the greater
acceptance of this way to be a person (Hacking). However, some find this amount and kind of
representation to be lacking, especially when considering the fact that other non traditional gender

What is the French policy of ASSIMILATION about, what did scholars like Leopold Senghor mean
by the term Negritude as a strategy for countering that French policy and what is the place of the two
in the methodology of ethnic conflict management?
INTRODUCTION
The trajectory of this paper is within the purview of Conflict Resolution and Management. However,
it traverses a historical path that takes us back to the era of colonialism in Africa, the Afrocentric
Movement leading to independent African states and how this all coalesces into a formula of how to
(or rather how not to) deal with differences that have the potential to dynamically incinerate conflicts,

The complacency gradually began to give way to dissatisfaction and to rising discontent and
eventually to an ideological retort known as Negritude.
NEGRITUDE
The term has been described as a revolt against colonialist values, glorification of the African past,
nostalgia for the beauty and harmony of traditional African society and, to quote Leopold Sedar
Senghor, the sum total of the values of the civilization of the African world. Negritude was a
significant ideological and literary development that became a formative movement of African
literature aimed at breaking down established stereotypes of blacks propagated through centuries of
colonialism in Africa. Black intellectuals in the West, especially France, buoyed by the rise of Black
Renaissance in America in the 1920s began to reflect upon and express their increasing sense of
alienation occasioned by the hypocrisy of assimilation. These writers found solidarity in a common
black identity as a rejection of perceived French colonial racism and they believed that their shared
black heritage as members of the African diaspora was the best tool in fighting against French political
and intellectual hegemony and domination.
Senghor (1906 2001) promotes a quest for the authentic self, knowledge of self, and a rediscovery of
African beliefs, values, institutions, and

current target and segmentation you should look at the locations of all three academy locations. All the
buildings are located in demographic areas where the dominant demographics are Middleburg which

students are between six and seventeen years old. I have personally had a few adults students from 18
all the way to 70 years old. From my experience I do not believe that adults do not want to take
lessons; I believe that they are simply unaware of the fact that adults can take lessons. In addition I
believe that marketing communications could be refined to target the females of the targeted
demographics. Generally the women of the household are the parent that determines the

The boys are definitely considered savages .It is evident that when you re at home, you re taught what

Mandatory Sentencing Laws For Repeat Offenders
In the 1990s, states began to execute mandatory sentencing laws for repeat offenders. This statute
became known as three strike laws . The three strikes law increases prison sentence for people
convicted of a felony. If you have two or more violent crimes or serious felonies, it limits the ability
that offenders have to receive a punishment other than life sentencing. By 2003 over half of the states
and federal government had enacted the three strike laws . The expectation behind it was to get career
criminals off the street for the good of the public. However, the laws have their connoisseurs who
charge sentences that are often excessive to the crimes committed and that incarcerate of three strike
inmates for 25 years to life. Nevertheless, the US Supreme Court has upheld three strike laws and had
rejected the fact that they amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The state of Washington passed
the first three strikes law in 1993. Anyone convicted of three separate violent felonies must be
sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole. Then on March 8th, 1994, California followed
by enacting the law that sanctioned a sentence of 25 years to life for a third felony conviction.
Contrary to Washington, the California law counts nonviolent felonies, such as burglary and theft as
strike offences; by 2001, over 50,000 criminals had been penalized under the new law, far more than
any other state, with almost a quarter of the prisoners facing a minimum of 25 years

Hemoglobin and Sickle Cell Disease
Introduction
Sickle cell disease, also known as SCD, is a hereditary blood disorder that takes place due to mutation
in the hemoglobin gene that is found in red blood cells. While it is said to have originated in Africa
and is mostly predominant in African Americans, sickle cell disease is now common among different
ethnic groups all over the world. Sickle cell anemia (HbSS) infects an estimated 70,000 to 100,000
Americans (Housman) and accounts for approximately 70% of anemia in the United States.
Hemoglobin functions as an oxygen carrying protein as it carries oxygen from the lungs through the
arteries and to the rest of the body. In sickle cell disease, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These subunits are held together by ionic, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces, hydrophobic
interactions as well as heme groups that are made up of Fe2+. Hemoglobin can be found in two
different states. The first state is known as the T state when it is tense and oxygen deprived. The
second state is known as R state when is relaxed and oxygenated. Hemoglobin first binds to oxygen
then transports it to blood vessels, which have low oxygen levels. After it releases the oxygen the
blood vessels, the red cells then transports carbon dioxide (CO2) from the tissues to the lungs where it
picks oxygen once more.
Cooperativiy, Affinity, and Efficiency
When a subunit binds to oxygen, it changes it conformation and sends messages to other subunits to
bind to oxygen as well. When more hemoglobin monomers (subunits) bind to oxygen, it is increasing
hemoglobin s affinity to oxygen, thus leading to better cooperativity. It was also discovered that there
is a higher affinity for purified hemoglobin rather than the hemoglobin inside the red blood cells due
to the anionic compound 2,3 bisphosphoglycerate (2,3 BPG). This molecule binds to hemoglobin in a
small pocket only found in the T state when it is deoxygenized and allows it become stable. It further
causes a reduction in hemoglobin s affinity to oxygen, working out in its favor. During the transition
from T to R state, the pocket containing 2,3 BPG is broken and

Analysis Of Shinnors Gravitation Towards Kit-Cats
I argue that Shinnors gravitation towards the Kit Cats was prompted by an aesthetic feeling (Huntley
1970, 17) grounded in his early historicality (Heidegger 1950, 47). Heidegger (1950, 29) felt that in
order to grasp the truth, we can return to something that is already manifest, in this case I would argue
that this was Donovan s work, specifically work like Balcony Series (with self portrait) . This truth
happening which Shinnors experienced was therefore an example of Crowther s (2009, 70) theory of
corporeal imagination , the idea that our sense of the present draws upon our actual learned responses
to events of the past. If we think of our corporeal imagination being composed of layers of memory
and experience, with some phenomena being

Under the NEP peasants handed over half of the food they produced to the government. Whatever
surplus was left they could sell for profit. The policy gave peasants an incentive to work the more food

When Lenin died in January 1924 he had nominated Leon Trotsky as his chosen successor. Yet it was

requires the organization to effectively detect inefficiencies and to respond by correcting any issues.
Organizational Learning is not defined by training classes, it is multi faceted way of operating. This
paper will outline how the merging of Sundown and Master Corporation can be integrated to the new

The Reflection Of Martin Luther s Theory Of Music
Unsurprisingly given what discussed so far, Luther had an extremely high view of music and of what
this could accomplish where this was true in particular with reference to the sphere of worship and of
church services . In this sense, he was of the opinion that by praising God in music, the latter acted as
a bridge allowing for the possibility of relishing God s absolute and perfect wisdom, by seeing its
reflection in his work of music itself. Accordingly always in the Preface to the Symphoniae Iucundae
Luther presented music as something able to connect the whole of creation with its creation. In Loewe
s words, the Preface «follows an arc that takes as its origin the very beginning of creation and
descends from God to those who have been given a voice, in order to return to heaven through
composed music: Luther explained that the praises sung by his readers had the potential to take the
singers straight back to heaven, and the ultimate origin and goal of music». Hence, by becoming
consciously musical that is, by actively producing music as opposed to just sounding we come to
reflective express and formulate one the basic aspects of creation . In this way, composed music
amplifies and shapes natural music and another belief which Luther shared with Herbenus this way
conjoins the musica humana and musica caelestis. Then, by being musical by producing music meant
to be performed in church we turn creation as it were, in the aspect of its musicality back to

  • 2. Essay about A Very Brief History on the Existence of God The subsequent essay will provide a brief overview on the existence of God from René Descartes through Immanuel Kant. First, section (1), examines Descartes proof for the existence of God. Section (2), explores G.W. Leibniz s view on God s existence in addition to his attempts to rectify the shortcomings of Descartes proofs. Before continuing, it is imperative to understand that both Descartes and Leibniz believed that the existence of God could be proved via reason. The remainder of the essay then examines two additional philosophers, David Hume in section (4) and Immanuel Kant in (5), who contend that God s existence cannot be rationally proven. (1) Being a devout Catholic, Descartes undeniably believed in God. He makes this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Putting this in simple terms, the innate idea of God is like a stamp which says Made by God . Additionally, Descartes reasons that because he exists with an innate idea of God, God then must also exist. He explicitly states this: I have no choice but to conclude that the mere fact of my existing is and of there being in me an idea of a most perfect being, that is God, demonstrates most evidently that God too exists (34). In the Fifth Meditation, Descartes offers a second, but similar proof for God s existence. Descartes begins by asserting that a triangle, even if it does not exist anywhere in the world still has a certain determinate nature, essence, or form which is unchangeable and eternal which is not fabricated and which does not depend on the mind (43). He then uses this idea as the basis for his second proof of God s existence. Based upon the notion of a triangle, Descartes believes that the existence of God ought to have ... some degree of certainty that truths of mathematics have (44). For Descartes there is no less a contradiction in conceiving a supremely perfect being who lacks existence than there is in conceiving a triangle whose interior angles do not sum to 180° (Oppy). Descartes again presumes (like he did for the proof in the Third Meditation) that because he has an idea of God, God must, therefore, exist. After establishing the second proof for God s existence, Descartes then bases many things, including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Did You Choose For Pursue A Career For The Television... This past summer, when I had time to investigate upcoming shows for this season, I happened upon a show that captured my attention Time After Time. At that point, not much was written about it, but I discovered that one of the directors and executive producers was a man by the name of Marcos Siega. He quickly agreed to an interview (they were in the throes of filming at that point). Due to my crazy schedule, I had to postpone the posting of this fantastic piece until now, but seeing how the premiere of his new show is tonight (March 5th), it seems like a perfect time to understand a bit more about one of the men who is behind this remarkably intriguing show. RH: Why did you choose to pursue a career in the television industry? MS: My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since you weren t able to go to film school, were you just learning on the job or were people mentoring you? I would say it was a little bit of everything. I became a production assistant here in New York and started working on any production that I could. It was what I wanted to do. When I started directing music videos, you go out and surround yourself with like minded people. So I learned a lot by just doing. I didn t have any formal training, but when you re doing it and you re figuring it out on your own, I think in some ways, you learn faster and you learn more cause you re forced into it. I have done all sorts of things. I have been a cinematographer, an editor, and a producer. I got my hands dirty with having to do a little bit of everything on the music videos I was directing cause they were not big budgets. I couldn t hire a ton of people to do the work. So that was my learning experience. I also had a real love for theater, and as a director, you lean into the visuals of directing. There are directors who are known as actor s directors, and I think I fall somewhere in between cause I really love storytelling and I had a real appreciation for filmmakers and directors who could adapt something to the stage and make you feel something by watching something in person without artificially doing it and without all the gloss of what I was doing in the music video world. As far as film school goes, I have a lot of my friends who went to film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Shroud Of Turin Analysis The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth bearing the image of a man who appears to have suffered from physical harm in a fashion resembling Roman crucifixion. This image, in accordance with the belief of millions, is the imprint of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. However, there is much indecision over its authenticity. Science has not yet come to a conclusion on the legitimacy of the Shroud. This paper will present the evidence for both the Shroud of Turin s authenticity (that it was the burial cloth of Jesus), and the reasons for the belief for its possible forgery. The Shroud of Turin is currently preserved in an underground vault in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, Italy, within a climate controlled casket. The material measures 4.4meters by 1.9meters. Down the center of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frederick Zugibe examined the Shroud and how accurately the injuries matched the process of crucifixion. He looked at how the nails were driven through the hands and feet. The shroud shows a pool of blood near the one visible wrist and the feet looked punctured as if by one nail. Also, as the romans strike the nail into each hand, the nerve damage causes the thumb to twist inward and under the palms. A thorough examination of the shroud revealed exactly this. The thumbs were hidden underneath the palms, just as one would expect. The facial imprint wasn t symmetrical and showed signs of a beating. Blood flowing from small cuts that seeped into the material made by the crown of thorns accurately matched the trail the liquid would follow when the forehead muscles contract in pain. Lacerations covered the back and a pool of blood was identified in the upper side of the torso, with blood flowing down from that place. All these injuries were consistent with Jesus described execution. Zugibe stated that from the Forensic Pathology point of view, it is totally consistent with a crucified individual. • 7. Essay on Political Culture of Mexico Mexican Political Culture As once put by Mexican Nobel laureate Octavio Paz, Mexico is a land of super imposed pasts (McCormick, p.326). It continues to be and is seen as a melding pot of its European and Native American ideas about society, law and government. Its history has had a major influence on the political culture of Mexico, seen through years of revolution, violence and corruption. Mexico is a considered a new democracy, but there is a tension still seen between democracy and authoritarianism. The country we see today has impressive growth yet is still enduring poverty. It reflects the salient social relationships of Mexican life and embodies the emotions they generate. For example, in a national opinion poll found, nine out of ten Mexicans still continued to ask intercessions from the Virgin or another saint. Streptococcus Pneumoniae is the cause of pneumonia and sepsis. Erythrocytes, which are found in blood, contain nutrients that factor into bacterial growth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While all of this information has been gathered, the behavior of S. pneumoniae in blood remains poorly understood. Erythrocytes, making up 40 50% of blood volume (Yamaguchi et al 2013), are a key component for cellular respiration. Erythrocytes contain abundant nutrients like iron which is required for life in nearly all forms. In this study, the researchers provide evidence that iron in red blood cells partially inhibit pneumococcal growth and that S. pneumoniae has the ability to invade human erythrocytes, supporting their hypothesis. By using a neutrophile bactericidal assay, the researchers were also able to show that the survival rate for S. Pneumoniae in cultures with erythrocytes increased 3x. The results also display that the pathogen s use of erythrocyte components enables it to evades the immune system of the host. Materials and Methods: As describes in Yamaguchi et al, the researchers purchased S. pneumoniae strain D39 from the National Collection of Type Cultures. S. pneumoniae strain R6, which is an unencapsulated derivative D39, was provided by Dr. Shin ichi Yokota. The primers used are given. Primers are short sequences of DNA or RNA that is used as a starting point for transcription in DNA synthesis. He came across this abandoned bus during his travels and gave it this name because of a song from The Who which was a British Rock band that Mccandless favored. The author included this visual symbol in the book most likely for the purpose of demonstrating McCandless belief in luck and hope. McCandless believed that since he randomly came across a bus in the wild, it was considered a form of luck because it wasn t likely for someone to come across that during an expedition in the wild. He also later on eats the wrong berry that unfortunately poisons him, leading to his death that took place on the old mattress in the Magic Bus; which he viewed as a loss or ending of his luck that he has been granted with. Magic Bus Day , he wrote in his journal. He decided to lay over for a while in the vehicle and take advantage of its crude comforts. page 163 Billie is first enter the bus. • 27. A Better Understanding Of Diabetes And How Kids Are... During the week that we spend at camp I hope that I will have a better understanding of Diabetes and how kids are dealing and coping with it. Sometimes we forget that when an illness happens in adults it is totally different on how it affects children so sometimes kids get ignored more often. So I hope this week will give me a better insight into what it is like for a child with diabetes day to day. My fear going into this week is that I won t be able to tell when a kid is having a low blood sugar or a high one. I know what signs to look out for but I don t have a lot of experience with this in kids. Kids are different on they present than adults so the fear is not recognizing it fast enough to get help for the child. What I think that I will contribute to the camp team is that I will be able to help with recognizing signs more quickly of hypo and hyperglycemia even though I still need some work. I think this will be beneficial because there may be members of the team that are less experienced so having someone that has at least seen this once will help. The previous experience that I have had with medically fragile children is going to CCK for a weekend during diabetes weekend and seeing a glimpse of children with this disease. I got to interact with the kids and play with them as if they had nothing wrong with them. The kids that were there were amazing to see on how they were coping with the disease versus their parents. Also what else was neat to see is how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, we are able to communicate and interact with larger and more diverse groups of people than we were able to in the past. We are no longer confined to the physical space which we occupy, but we are free to become members of a global community. Thus, we are exposed to various people, cultures, identities, and conceptions of the human that we were ignorant to previously. At the same time, the internet also drastically revolutionized our relationship with the media. What is important about shipping fic in terms of representation is that a good majority of these shipping fics portray romantic relationships between members of the same sex. Oftentimes these relationships have a basis within the subtext of the original work, but the subtextual relationship is not brought into the textual, most likely due to the lock in. And while there has been a recent increase in the portrayals of homosexual relationships in the mainstream media, bisexuality gets even less representation, and in the cases of other sexual orientations such as pansexuality, demisexuality, and asexuality fanfiction is one of the only places where they can get any representation at all. There has also been a similar trend in the representation of the transgender community, owing to the greater acceptance of this way to be a person (Hacking). However, some find this amount and kind of representation to be lacking, especially when considering the fact that other non traditional gender identities such as non binary, agender, or genderfluid have little to absolutely no representation in the traditional ... Conflict Management and Resolution PLSC 872 What is the French policy of ASSIMILATION about, what did scholars like Leopold Senghor mean by the term Negritude as a strategy for countering that French policy and what is the place of the two in the methodology of ethnic conflict management? INTRODUCTION The trajectory of this paper is within the purview of Conflict Resolution and Management. However, it traverses a historical path that takes us back to the era of colonialism in Africa, the Afrocentric Movement leading to independent African states and how this all coalesces into a formula of how to (or rather how not to) deal with differences that have the potential to dynamically incinerate conflicts, both ethnical (or racial) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The complacency gradually began to give way to dissatisfaction and to rising discontent and eventually to an ideological retort known as Negritude. NEGRITUDE The term has been described as a revolt against colonialist values, glorification of the African past, nostalgia for the beauty and harmony of traditional African society and, to quote Leopold Sedar Senghor, the sum total of the values of the civilization of the African world. Negritude was a significant ideological and literary development that became a formative movement of African literature aimed at breaking down established stereotypes of blacks propagated through centuries of colonialism in Africa. Black intellectuals in the West, especially France, buoyed by the rise of Black Renaissance in America in the 1920s began to reflect upon and express their increasing sense of alienation occasioned by the hypocrisy of assimilation. These writers found solidarity in a common black identity as a rejection of perceived French colonial racism and they believed that their shared black heritage as members of the African diaspora was the best tool in fighting against French political and intellectual hegemony and domination. Senghor (1906 2001) promotes a quest for the authentic self, knowledge of self, and a rediscovery of African beliefs, values, institutions, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alli Barnes, the marketing director at Bravo, gave me a very detailed description of the current state of Bravo Arts Academy s IMC plan. To start off Alli described Bravo s target/segment as northern Utah and families. I believe that to go into further detail to more accurately describe Bravo s current target and segmentation you should look at the locations of all three academy locations. All the buildings are located in demographic areas where the dominant demographics are Middleburg which are families that are at a middle class income, typically have children, relatively young, family oriented, and are typically have freedom in their budgets. Also, Up and Coming Families are families that typically are more diverse, are ambitious, willing to take risks when it comes to financial planning, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have personally had a few adults students from 18 all the way to 70 years old. From my experience I do not believe that adults do not want to take lessons; I believe that they are simply unaware of the fact that adults can take lessons. In addition I believe that marketing communications could be refined to target the females of the targeted demographics. • 32. Mandatory Sentencing Laws For Repeat Offenders In the 1990s, states began to execute mandatory sentencing laws for repeat offenders. This statute became known as three strike laws . The three strikes law increases prison sentence for people convicted of a felony. If you have two or more violent crimes or serious felonies, it limits the ability that offenders have to receive a punishment other than life sentencing. By 2003 over half of the states and federal government had enacted the three strike laws . The expectation behind it was to get career criminals off the street for the good of the public. However, the laws have their connoisseurs who charge sentences that are often excessive to the crimes committed and that incarcerate of three strike inmates for 25 years to life. Nevertheless, the US Supreme Court has upheld three strike laws and had rejected the fact that they amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The state of Washington passed the first three strikes law in 1993. Anyone convicted of three separate violent felonies must be sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole. Then on March 8th, 1994, California followed by enacting the law that sanctioned a sentence of 25 years to life for a third felony conviction. Contrary to Washington, the California law counts nonviolent felonies, such as burglary and theft as strike offences; by 2001, over 50,000 criminals had been penalized under the new law, far more than any other state, with almost a quarter of the prisoners facing a minimum of 25 years ... Hemoglobin And Sickle Cell Disease Ana Maria Sutac Biochemistry 370 11/13/2015 Hemoglobin and Sickle Cell Disease Introduction Sickle cell disease, also known as SCD, is a hereditary blood disorder that takes place due to mutation in the hemoglobin gene that is found in red blood cells. While it is said to have originated in Africa and is mostly predominant in African Americans, sickle cell disease is now common among different ethnic groups all over the world. Sickle cell anemia (HbSS) infects an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 Americans (Housman) and accounts for approximately 70% of anemia in the United States. Hemoglobin functions as an oxygen carrying protein as it carries oxygen from the lungs through the arteries and to the rest of the body. In sickle cell disease, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These subunits are held together by ionic, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces, hydrophobic interactions as well as heme groups that are made up of Fe2+. Hemoglobin can be found in two different states. The first state is known as the T state when it is tense and oxygen deprived. The second state is known as R state when is relaxed and oxygenated. Hemoglobin first binds to oxygen then transports it to blood vessels, which have low oxygen levels. After it releases the oxygen the blood vessels, the red cells then transports carbon dioxide (CO2) from the tissues to the lungs where it picks oxygen once more. Cooperativiy, Affinity, and Efficiency When a subunit binds to oxygen, it changes it conformation and sends messages to other subunits to bind to oxygen as well. When more hemoglobin monomers (subunits) bind to oxygen, it is increasing hemoglobin s affinity to oxygen, thus leading to better cooperativity. It was also discovered that there is a higher affinity for purified hemoglobin rather than the hemoglobin inside the red blood cells due to the anionic compound 2,3 bisphosphoglycerate (2,3 BPG). This molecule binds to hemoglobin in a small pocket only found in the T state when it is deoxygenized and allows it become stable. It further causes a reduction in hemoglobin s affinity to oxygen, working out in its favor. During the transition from T to R state, the pocket containing 2,3 BPG is broken and ... • 36. Analysis Of Shinnors Gravitation Towards Kit-Cats I argue that Shinnors gravitation towards the Kit Cats was prompted by an aesthetic feeling (Huntley 1970, 17) grounded in his early historicality (Heidegger 1950, 47). Heidegger (1950, 29) felt that in order to grasp the truth, we can return to something that is already manifest, in this case I would argue that this was Donovan s work, specifically work like Balcony Series (with self portrait) . This truth happening which Shinnors experienced was therefore an example of Crowther s (2009, 70) theory of corporeal imagination , the idea that our sense of the present draws upon our actual learned responses to events of the past. • 39. The Reflection Of Martin Luther s Theory Of Music Unsurprisingly given what discussed so far, Luther had an extremely high view of music and of what this could accomplish where this was true in particular with reference to the sphere of worship and of church services . In this sense, he was of the opinion that by praising God in music, the latter acted as a bridge allowing for the possibility of relishing God s absolute and perfect wisdom, by seeing its reflection in his work of music itself. Accordingly always in the Preface to the Symphoniae Iucundae Luther presented music as something able to connect the whole of creation with its creation. In Loewe s words, the Preface «follows an arc that takes as its origin the very beginning of creation and descends from God to those who have been given a voice, in order to return to heaven through composed music: Luther explained that the praises sung by his readers had the potential to take the singers straight back to heaven, and the ultimate origin and goal of music». Hence, by becoming consciously musical that is, by actively producing music as opposed to just sounding we come to reflective express and formulate one the basic aspects of creation . In this way, composed music amplifies and shapes natural music and another belief which Luther shared with Herbenus this way conjoins the musica humana and musica caelestis.
