Working Title:
‘Angels’
Song by Tom Walker
Audience:
The song I am using and music video I am making is, firstly, suitable for people of any age as the
song doesn’t have any curse words in it and the music video will not have any explicit content in it.
The song is quite an upbeat song but is also quite a meaningful song that the majority of people
may relate to so anyone of any age can listen and enjoy it. However, the song is a song that only
came out recently, so it is more likely for people of the younger generation who watch youtube and
mainstream artists that will discover the song.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have done projects, which include using the camera and putting a video
together (TV Advert). When filming, my group and I filmed scenes from different angles and filmed
most of the scenes a couple of times to make sure we had the right shots. Also, I had the
experience of editing the video so I now have an idea of the different editing tools I can use to edit
the music video.
During this project, I have found the Print Project quite useful for this current project. In the Print
Project I had to think about the existing products, the different types of magazines, the target
audience, etc. These are the kind of things I have to think about when planning out and putting
together my music video.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my music video project, I am going to be filming at a couple of different locations. One of these
locations will be in a remote area surrounded by fields, etc. When filing, I am hoping to film during
the evening when there will be a sunset. Sunsets are interesting to look at and they can really set
the mood, like how I want to do in my music video. I will have one actor in my video but they will
not be lip-syncing in the video. I wanted to make this scene quite chill, so technically the actor will
just be on a walk through the fields, lanes, etc. and clearing the mind with the sunset. For the
second location I was thinking about filming at a local Church in a small village called Appleton
Roebuck. The church is small and it is simple to fix a time to film the video as long as you get in
contact with the owner. I was planning on filming shots such as sunlight coming through the glass
window, the actor sat on a pew, the actor looking up at the alter or walking up the isle towards the
altar as if they are looking around. I feel like this location is effective when it comes to
intertextuality, and remembrance for the ‘angels’ that have/are in your life.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
For the production I don’t think I will be using any green screening however when I edit the video I
may add in special visual effects such as changing the lighting and making the picture view more
HD. There will also be parts in filming the video where I will have to make sure the lighting stays
the same with each shot, especially as the time I have to shoot is limited because a sunset will
only stay up for so long (an hour maybe).
I also am hoping to add some techniques when it comes to transitioning from one scene to
another, for example different coloured light transitions.
I also want to add in techniques when editing that include slow motions, and speeding up clips.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will have to consider how well my music video fits with the song, which means I will have to
analyse things like intertextuality, length of clips and at what points the clips change (whether it’s
on beat or not), etc. I will also have to make sure the camera is still when it comes to keeping a
steady hand as this can effect the quality of the video.
