This document outlines a proposal for a music video project set in the 1980s. The target audience is middle-class males and females aged 30-45. The concept is to follow a main singer dancing up and down a staircase with background dancers at times. Colorful, fabric-covered sets will be used to emulate the era. Research into 1980s songs and music videos will be conducted to inform song selection and dance styles. Production techniques will include slow motion camera work, lighting in various colors, props, and a cast of 1 lead singer and 10-30 background dancers. Evaluation will occur throughout production and editing, and feedback will be solicited from others. A 5-week schedule is outlined covering pre-production, filming,

A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:

Audience:
30-45, Male and Female, Middle class, Needs driven.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have learned a various amount of ways to edit footage and audio, although I’m still nowhere near
close to being able to do so with ease. I can, however, easily add different colouring effects or any
pre-set options on the application. I have learned more techniques when using a camera, for
example, how to set the video into slow-mo, as well as how to use lighting to my advantage. I
wanted to do something different from anything previously, as I tend to stick to more modern
techniques, but this time I’ll be going for something with an original style.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I will be focusing on one main singer and following them as they dance up and down a staircase. I
may also be using other locations, but I’m not too sure on that yet. There will be dancers in the
backgrounds at specific points to add flare to the video, as just following one person will get
repetitive and boring, which I don’t want. The actual sets will be colourful and bright, covered in
different fabrics to look like something from that era. If I do end up using other locations, they’ll
probably be either outside or in a large, open space, so that you can see all of the dancers.
I’ll need to research different songs from that era. There are already a few songs that I’ve chosen,
either because they have the type of dancing that I’m looking for, or they’re some of the most
recognisable songs from that era. For example, one of the songs I’ve chosen is “Take on me” By
A-ha, which is well known for its lyrics and video. I’ll also be looking at other songs by Earth, Wind
and Fire to see what styles of dancing they use and what techniques they employ in their videos.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/

Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I might use some simple camera tricks, like setting the camera to be able to record in slow-motion.
But I don’t plan on using a lot of filming effects, as I want it to look simple. There might be a few
sounds I’ll need to record for the song, like wind or cheering, but not many sounds. I’ll definitely
need various amount lighting in a wide spectrum of colours. I’ll also need props to decorate the
background. Speaking of, I’ll need to completely redecorate the staircase, although I’m not too
sure on how just yet. I’ll need a cast of people for the video, mainly one person to be the singer
and 10-30 people to be background dancers. It will obviously be taken in many shots, and apart
from possibly tutoring the singer how to lip sync, I doubt there’s anything to cover.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will be evaluating my work all throughout the process, as I’ll be directing the video. I’ll also d a
valuation before and after the video has been films, as well as edited, to make sure it’s my best
work. I will also show my work to others and ask them to evaluate it for an outside opinion.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
