Overall, I am pleased with my final product and how I have progressed from my preliminary task to my final product, and believe that I have ensured to use all of the required research and conventions within my work, as without the planning and researching stages my work would not have been effective, and I would not have been able to create a higher quality piece of work.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. In my preliminary task, I used iMovie with my partner to create our copied version of
Milky Chance – Stolen Dance music video, but only a minutes worth. IMovie is a basic
media package, whereby the editing was very simple and there was no complex editing of
the clips or sound. The lip singing within our preliminary task was entirely out of sync as
we had no idea how to ensure that it fitted in with the lyrics, as we were just beginners at
this point and had no experience in editing or filming, as in our AS year we used still
images rather than moving images. Although we had an overlay of montage clips, it was
still very basic and the transitions weren’t thought through as much, as we hadn’t
researched the conventions of music videos. The fact that we had to copy a clip, didn’t
show our creative mind and we had little time to create this piece of work.
3. However, for my final product I used Premiere Pro to edit my music video,
which is a far more professional editing package, which enabled me to create a
higher quality piece of work. For my music video there was a lot more time spent
on planning and researching on how to put together a music video, and what the
typical codes and conventions are of my certain genre. The research enabled me to
consider what type of transition I needed to use to fit in with my chosen song,
which was fade to black as it fitted in with the filters and the type of atmosphere
created by the song, the transition made the whole music video continuously flow
better and was not as glitchy, therefore the videos could flow smoothly throughout.
4. The lip singing in my final product, was thought through a lot more, as
we timed the actors in to the song so that they knew when their queue
was to come in, and timed the footage a few seconds before and after so
that the clips could be edited easier, although syncing it to the music was
hard, it was more effective in my final product as I ensured all the clips
were at the length I had planned within the planning and research stages,
which was far more efficient than in my preliminary task, where our actor
would sing when the song wasn’t playing, and then not sing when it was.
5. Codes and conventions of my final product were also thought through a lot more, as I had
to ensure the mise-en-scene fitted the criteria of Metal, I did this by guaranteeing that codes and
conventions such as pills and alcohol had been carefully placed in the locations where filming,
because of this my target audience were able to understand what they are consuming. I tried to
be more creative for my final product, by using powder paint to express emotions in a unique but
risky way, the location for this scene was carefully chosen by a derelict barn, with plenty of room
to throw powder paint. To do this scene also, I had to get help from other individuals that I had
asked, otherwise it would not have been as effective. The editing also ensured that this scene was
effective, as I had to overlay two layers of film, and crop certain parts out to then reverse, speed
up and down to achieve the flickering effect I wanted, which eventually was a success.
6. Additional to this, the editing was more complex as for the Parental advisory
clip, we had to learn how to make sure that the clip was flickering in beat to the
song, there was a lot more cropping of footage and ensuring that it fitted in time
with the song, especially with the visuals. With certain clips we had to slow them
down, so that they had more of an impact on the audience as you’re able to clearly
see what type of state that the actress is in, and you feel more sorry for the actress,
not only this but it helped with timing as if the clip was kept at its original pace it
would have made the powder paint scene come in too early, therefore the lyrics and
instrumental would not have matched up with the visuals, and not been as effective.
7. Costumes and make-up were thought through a lot more for our final product,
as we had to research what type of clothing typically people would wear in a Metal
music video, therefore we could ask our actress to dress in a certain way, which was
by wearing all black clothing, jewellery and we even looked at the make-up which we
made really dark to look slightly Gothic but also to show that the actress is in a bad
place, as if it was a happy video the actors would have been dressed in brighter
clothes, and the filters on the video would have been brighter also, instead of dull
and dark.
8. Overall, I am pleased with my final product and how I have
progressed from my preliminary task to my final product, and believe
that I have ensured to use all of the required research and
conventions within my work, as without the planning and researching
stages my work would not have been effective, and I would not have
been able to create a higher quality piece of work.
