Essay On Galaxy Gaming
Meta: Cash, cash, and more cash are what gamblers are after these, so it s great to see Galaxy Gaming
serve up that and then some in new game Duelling for Dollars!
Dueling for Dollars Review
In the world of online casino play, there is a small selection of names that command more attention
than others, with Galaxy Gaming certainly standing tall as one of them. Starting life all the way back
in 2006, for over a decade they have been known as a name that players can count on. Helping push
Galaxy Gaming to the very next level in the eyes of many are its efforts in the instant play market. The
company has been working tirelessly to take popular table game variants and give them a video
overhaul. When you lock eyes on the likes of Duelling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speed runs absolutely rampant here, as it lives up to its ultimate no brainer tag, with play handled in
just a single click. What this game represents as the name implies is a form a high card battle. So, it s
one deck, two cards, and a true test of bottle, with players battling the dealer in order to win big. We
love games that just get to the point, with Duelling for Dollars doing that in a rather spectacular
fashion.
Duelling for Dollars is incredibly fun to play, but it does carry a few issues when it comes to payouts,
as this game just isn t as stacked as other Galaxy Gaming titles. Most of the payouts in this game are
token offerings at best, ranging between $20 and just a $1. Free Duelling for Dollars is a really fun
game, but when it comes to prizes it s a case of little and often.
From Single Card to a Super Win!
Honestly, anyone of any skill level should be able to play free Duelling for Dollars with minimal fuss.
Things kick off when you decide on your wager, then you just need to update any side bets you wish
to invoke before officially starting the game. After doing the aforementioned, you ll be dealt a single
card (so will the dealer), with the highest card of the two winning the game round. This game really is
just that simple when it comes to understanding how to play.

The Movie Thelma And Louise
I don t care, I love it The film Thelma and Louise is most famous for its ending scene. The iconic
scene of the two girls kissing and driving off the canyon into their death is present even today in pop
culture and referred back by those who liked it. Although the kiss in the scene was not a romantic kiss,
it captured the love between the two girls, not a romantic homosexualised love, but a heteronormal
sisterhood type of love. Also, their faces prove that they died happy, and chose to die not only because
they had no other choice but because that way they had agency as to what would happen to them and
how they would die. The ending is empowering to women, because the women have the power of
choice, even though they die. Unlike other films we have seen in class such as Vertigo and Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon where the women who die do not seem happy or content with their demise.
Throughout the film both Thelma and Louise are fighting against the patriarchy they must endure
daily and a life they no longer want to live, in a society where they cannot fully express who they are.
The women decide to go on a girl s weekend, from there they run into various predicaments that
eventually lead to their deaths. When Louise picks up Thelma, she asks how did Daryll let you come?
and she admits she did not tell him. This moment in the film shows how repressed these women were.
This is a breakthrough for women in film because they begin to have agency, and

Women s Liberation Movement Of The 1960s And 1970s
History 304 Casey Bryant Section 4 Module 11
The women s liberation movement (or feminism as it is now known) of the 1960s and 1970s touched
every home, business, and school (WA, 705). The movement even touched the sports and
entertainment industries, in fact, There are few areas of contemporary life untouched by feminism
(WA, 717). The word feminism in the early 1960 s wasn t often used and when it was it was used with
condescension or hatred. However, in the late sixties that changed thanks to a new group of women.
This new diverse group of women included the: young, old, heterosexual, lesbians, working class, and
even the privileged. This diverse group came together and collectively created the second wave of
feminism.
The current counterculture and social upheavals of the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war
caused this new feminism to emerge, signaling the beginning of a transforming era in women s history

Caitlyn Jenner Argument Essay
The talented actor, George Sand, once said, There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be
loved. Humanization has been a controversial issue affecting the LGBT Community across the planet.
Many people believe any sexual act should be between a man and a woman. However, there are men
who overcome insecurities and find confidence in the LGBT community. Both Homosexual and
Transgender people in sports are persecuted in their perceived orientation. After watching the videos
about Olympic Greg Louganis and Caitlyn Jenner, the two athletes shared many commonalities for
hiding their secrets.
The notable decathlon athlete, Caitlyn Jenner, shared features with the Olympic swimmer, Greg
Louganis, which made her feel comfortable in her skin. The two features that Jenner shows in
correlation to Louganis attributes was her courage and pride to promote public understanding and
tolerance of the transgender community. For example, she created social change by transitioning to a
transgender. An issue leading to her difficult decision to come out was her lost enthusiasm for life.
Jenner believes that throwing out her past was necessary to like herself. Her public image improved to

Louganis did not resist the temptation to make gender identity defined differently from biological

born gay and there is so much more to him than just labels. His choice to go public about having aids
and homosexuality made tremendous progress in his homophobia because he was content with who he

Wood Thrush Populations
The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical
dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood
Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources
occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics
clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2)
Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly.
We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year
time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations
(Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1).
The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their
research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a
decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer

Theory In Nursing Practice
Application of Theory The role of theory in clinical nursing practice is to guide assessment,
interventions, and evaluation of nursing care. Theory in nursing practice provides a rationale for
collecting reliable and valid data about the health status of clients, which are essential for effective
decision making and implementation. Nursing theory also serves as a guide assessment, interventions,
and evaluation of nursing practice. Theories can address important questions for nursing units.
Theories can be grand, middle range and practice. Grand theories provide a complex and broad scope
and incorporate numerous ways of viewing concepts in nursing. Middle range nursing theories are
narrower in scope and offer an effective bridge between grand nursing theories and nursing practice.
The Ida J. Orlando s middle range nursing theory provides a nursing foundation for nursing leaders to
utilize both in the management of patient care and leadership. When applying Orlando s theory,
nursing leaders can identify perceptions, thoughts and feelings about patients care, then educate
nursing staff on meeting the patient s needs. The theory combines competent nursing practice and
customer satisfaction. Meeting the patient s needs reduces patient distress levels. Bedside nurses must
be diligent and confident of their nursing skills. When provided with great leadership, nurses will feel
more confident in their ability to provide quality patient care. The rehabilitation unit frequently

Domestic Violence Against Women
Introduction
On May 2, 1982, Michael Connell visited his estranged wife Karen and their son Ward. Karen and
Michael had been separated for more than a year but were seeing each other. A friend of Ward s also

staggered from the house, bleeding profusely from the neck. She collapsed into a neighbor s arms,
gasping that her husband had stabbed her and was still in the house with their 5 year old son and his
friend. The South Pasadena Police arrived on the scene to investigate. After several attempts to make

To help determine if you have been a victim unaware let s define domestic violence or sometimes
called intimate partner violence (IPV) to determine if you or someone you know or love has ever been
a victim of domestic violence. Domestic violence as defined by The U.S. Office on Violence Against
Women (OVW) is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain
or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. The definition adds that domestic
violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender , and that
it takes many forms, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, and
verbal abuse.
Type of abuse
To gain a better understanding of these different types of forms that abuse may have let s characterize
the most common ones in detail:
Physical abuse is abuse involving contact intended to cause feelings of intimidation, pain, injury or
other physical suffering or bodily harm. It often includes hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining,
slapping, punching, choking, and other types of contact that will result in physical injury to the victim.
Physical abuse can also include behaviors such as denying the victim of medical care when needed,
depriving the victim of sleep or other functions necessary to live, or forcing the victim to engage in
drug/alcohol against her will.
Sexual abuse is any situation in which force is used to

Conflict In The Color Purple Celie
Love. Love is an amazing feeling to feel when it comes to relationships. Happiness, motivation, and
self confidence are three examples that love bring to us. When we get love from people it makes us
stronger. Not everyone has had the love that some of us get. For example, in The Color Purple celie,
the main character, has trouble loving herself because she s been abused by her father and her
husband. She says she s already dead inside since she has never felt the love from anyone. Alice
Walker uses conflict, symbolism, and irony to demonstrate how love affects us when we don t receive
it and why we shouldn t take it for granted.
To begin with, when people are married they should show their love to each other. Abusing shouldn t
happen at all because the couple love each other so much that they care if one of them gets hurt.
Conflict is shown when celie starts getting abused by her husband. She gets the belt and she turns
herself into a tree. He beat me like he beat the children. Cept he don t never hardly beat them. He say,
Celie, git the belt. The children be outside the room peeking through the cracks. It all I can do not to
cry. I make myself wood. I say to myself, Celie, you a tree. That s how come I know trees fear man

people the motivation to keep on with life. When deprived of love, it can make people feel like Celie

Pete Docter Up Analysis
In the film, Up , directed by Pete Docter, an important idea is change. This important idea is shown
through Docter s use of dialogue, medium shot and dramatic soundtrack. This idea is important and
relevant to society today because it teaches us to accept any changes that may occur and to make the
most of the time available to you.
Up is a film about an old widower, Carl Fredricksen, following his promise he had with Ellie, Carl s
partner, of going to the forbidden Paradise Falls and to see his idol, Charles Muntz, who turns out to
be disgraced. Carl embarks on his journey to the South America wilderness in the balloon powered
house of his own invention. But Carl s worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a young
adventuresome wilderness explorer , Russell is also aboard the balloon house. After they faced many
challenges, Carl finally gets to the top of Paradise Falls.
This idea of change is shown through Docter s use of medium shot. An example of this is when Carl
hits the construction guy on his head with the walking stick. Docter uses these techniques to show us
that Carl changes after Ellie die he becomes bitter and careless. His purpose in ... Show more content

An example of this is when Carl says I give you this the greatest honour bestowed upon an explorer;

teaching us about this idea was to help us better understand that Carl has changed so far since the
death of Ellie Carl shrinks his negative attitudes toward the world and the people around him. He used

Isolation Mechanism For Jamming Attack
Isolation Mechanism for Jamming Attack in MANET
1. Introduction
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) attached in a dynamic manner and it is an assembly of wireless
mobile nodes. Without any fixed infrastructure nodes making a temporary network where all nodes are
arbitrarily free to move. In the network nodes are act as routers, which take part in finding and
maintenance of routes to other nodes [1]. Wireless connection in MANET is highly misplay and due to
mobility of nodes it goes down usually. Due to highly dynamic environment coherent routing is a very
difficult task in Mobile Ad hoc Network [2].
In this paper, we esteem a particular category of DoS attacks called Jamming. In actual fact, the
mobile host in mobile ad hoc networks is a part of wireless medium. Thus, the radio signals can be
jammed or interfered, which make the message to be amoral or missed. If the attacker has a strong
transmitter, a signal can be launched that will be strong enough to conquer the directed signals and
distort communications. There are several attack schemes that a jammer can do in order to interfere
with other wireless communications.
1.1 Jamming attack
The motive of jamming attack is to fill up the communication channel with purposeless signals, due to
which verified or permissible user cannot use it. Jamming slowly down the receiving and sending of
messages at the destination. It is very difficult to prevent and find out the jamming attacks but still
some detection

Community Reflection
I chose as my subject University of Cincinnati, the dining halls, the workers there, their personal
communities, the interactions between the workers and the students. and lastly, I am interested in the
workers that cross the bridge between worker and student and take advantage of the free classes. At
first I was interested mostly in the interactions between students and workers. Every time i walk into a
UC dining hall I am struck by the sense of community among the workers. Its so full of energy I
always want to be apart of it. By observation I want to better understand what its like to belong to this
specific community. Like all discourse communities, there is a common vernacular or dialogue, that I
would like to understand a little more clearly. I want to learn more about it, and understand better the
work life balance of this commune of labourers. And how UC helps to better the environment. Does
UC take steps to make the environment comfortable and enjoyable, and do the employees enjoy their
job? Because what the workers get out of their jobs directly affects the community in and around UC
and Cincinnati at large. I learned more about the jobs and the university s role in these peoples lives. I
would like to see how the university helps to improve these workers lives. The university provides
over 15,000 jobs to the Cincinnati area, and is one of the largest job providers as well. I am curious to
see if there are any other benefits and improvements to the community

The Impact Of Technology And Modern Architecture
Technology and Modern Architecture How has it changed the Architects way of thinking? Ali
Alzahrani Arizona State University Imagine that everything in the life is operated by computers
including people basics duties such as cooking, washing, working, or even thinking instead of the
person. It could be something magnificent for some people, but others would think that technology
would worsen people s lives. Lawler (2005) writes Technology is a problem because we cannot do
without it and our use of it clearly makes us both better and worse (p.194). In other words, the
problem of technology is that it is essential in our lives, but it has negative and positive effects on us.
A look around our everyday surroundings tells us that technology is ubiquitous, and it almost exists in
every aspect of people s lives and architecture is not an exemption from this. Architects cannot move
forward in their designs if they neglect the crucial need of technology nowadays. At the same time,
this technology has affected architects work in general. While some people allege that technology has
not affected the architects manner of thinking, others agree that it has negatively affected the way that
architects think. Also, it has changed the manner in which architects present and deal with their
designs. Decreasing the creativity on starting concepts and impacting the designers imaginations are
two ways in which designers

Valley Passage Case Study Answers
1. The goal is to get to the claims office before it closes in fourteen days. I would choose option #3.
The valley passage is a safer option than going over the mountain. For example, there is a greater
possibility of injury traveling over the mountain. The mountain route is even more difficult because I
have an injured left hand. There is the possibility of a storm, making the trail more difficult. However,
one disadvantage of the valley passage is time. I need to be back at the claims office in two weeks.
The valley passage takes at least two weeks of travel time. Therefore the likely hood of getting there
time is slim. Going over the mountain will take 7 to 10 days. I believe the costs of an injured hand,

Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard
battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy consumption
for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief research concern. In
recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy efficiency in wireless
sensor networks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been considered as one of the
effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication related energy consuming
roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and the other role is to relay
packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations. This is why the energy
minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN.
WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO)
technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space time
block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power long
distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply MIMO
technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a single antenna.
Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a cooperative MIMO
technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4].
The single hop energy

Emergency Medical Technician Research Paper
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured in emergency
medical settings. People s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care provided by
these workers. EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and
transporting patients to medical facilities (Bureau of Labor Statistics 2015). Emergency medical
technicians play a big role in early stages of emergency situations. Without them, there would be no

Peter Singer Analysis
Poverty and hunger is a common social issue that affects a large percentage of the world population,
and has troubled nations all over the world for thousands of years. It s an issue that we can experience
every day without realizing it. We might see a commercial asking for donations on television, or a
homeless woman asking for money to feed her son at the bus stop, or in the news when they talk about
children dying of starvation.
Now, this issue brings out a particular question; are we obligated to donate and help those in need? Do
we have a moral obligation to do so? Or is helping those in need morally optional? Peter Singer and
Jan Narveson both discuss this issue, yet both have very different opinions. Peter in one hand, ... Show

He believes helping those in need, and giving donation, is completely optional. Opposed to Peter s
belief, Jan indicated that there is a distinction from not preventing something bad from happening,
than actually making it happen. For example, If I was to lock you in a room and let you starve to
death, I have consiensly murder you. But if someone else was to do the same thing to you, you would
have died of starvation. The outcome was not intended by my actions. If was to know that you were
starving, I might feel pity for you and would want to help you, or pehaps I would feel indifferent to
what you are going thought, either way, my previous activities did not cause your outcome, therefore I
may choose if I want to help you or not. Jan also indicates that there is a difference between justice
and charity. Justice are those actions that we are enforced to do. Charity is not. Charity is voluntarily
wanting to help and benefit those less fortunate. It is sometimes morally allowed to force someone to
fulfill their justice duties, but it is not morally allowed to force someone to be charitable. Charity is
something you do because you want to, and perhaps there is emotion behind that action. If we force
people to be charitable, it will no longer be charity, but

interact change due to the different to social differences. In today s world people go about their day
using smartphones to text and call people. This was something that previous generations were not able
to do, thus creating a change in the ways that people express themselves to others. This idea is exactly
what Flannery O Connor was writing about throughout Everything that Rises Must Converge . O
Connor uses the theme of racism to emphasise the similarities and differences between Julian and his
mother s generations, but how they still are mentally very similar.
Julian and his mother have very similar personalities even though they think that they are the exact
opposite. Julian s mother thinks a lot about the way that people view her. She cares about the
appearance that she gives off so everyone can see how rich or great she is. She shows this off in one
way by the house that she lives in Since this had been a fashionable neighborhood forty years ago, his
mother persisted in thinking they did well to have an apartment in it (O Connor 273). This explains
that even though it was a nice neighborhood many years ago that Julian s mother still wants to live
there. Her mind is stuck in a world that she no longer lives in. Julian has a very similar situation that

Effect of Rapid Urbanization on Housing
THE IMPACT OF RAPID URBANIZATION ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA FROM
1950 2010 (Focus on urban developments and housing problems case study: Lagos)
Urbanization according to Aluko O.E is rather subjective and can be given various interpretations.
However in this concept it can be defined as the expansion of the number of people living in an urban
area that depicts the rate at which people move from rural areas and populate the urban areas. Reports
however, from the united nation show that the population at the urban centres has multiplied four
times its initial growth since 1960 and would have risen to a projected number of about 5 billion in the
year 2030. Report also has it that over 70 per cent of these populations would settle in ... Show more

In the twinkle of an eye, Lagos became the centre of trade and commerce bringing migrants from
every nook and cranny. As the population increased so did the spatial expansion which posed a great
deal of problems especially housing development. (kehinde George, 2002).
Population explosion in lagos became noticeable after 1950 amongst other reason, it was the national
capital and in 67 became a state on its own attracting funds from both the federal and state
government there by introducing more migrants. However, Over 90 per cent of the typical housing
standard is being provided by the private sector and individual efforts bringing about a gap between its
demand and supply finding expression in the cost of rented values that eventually leads to
overcrowding, growth of slums and rise in the number of substandard housing (Owoade,Abiodun
97).Two major factors that accounted for the rapid growth in lagos can tied to net migration and
natural increase
According to the old United Nations university website, prior to 1928, planned residential areas in
Lagos were limited. They included Ikoyi, which was a reservation area for expatriates who were
colonial administrators and executives of foreign firms, and had a population of 4,000, or 3 per cent of
the population of the city in 1931. Apapa, Ebute Meta, and Yaba, with a combined population of
22,000, or 17 per cent of the total, also had some element of planning, in the sense that road networks

The company could damage its image in market if any delay occurs due to political unrest in these
parts of the world. Economical: After the world was hit by recession in late 00, it is gradually

world s economy. Under such conditions, consumer s purchasing power has reduced; as such they are
not willing to spend money on electronic goods. Growth of unemployment rate in USA and Europe is
a growing concern in recent years. Also currency exchange rate is really fluctuating in the course of

Theme Of Romanticism In Frankenstein And La Bell Dame Sans...
Many Romantic works have placed an important focus on the interesting figure of the strange,
mysterious and the Other. The essay will be concerned with the paramount role the Other plays in
Shelley s Frankenstein and Keats poems. Since this entity entails elements of unusualness and is thus
incomprehensible, it already dwells within the realm of oddness and unknowability. Therefore, the
figure of the Other in this essay will be treated as synonymous with that which is strange or
mysterious . Through installing such a disruptive figure into the orderly narrative structure as the
perplexing site of exoticness and peculiarity, the Romantic authors are not only creating a fascinating
appeal within their works, but are also inviting readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the foreign element in the poem, she already emanates a curious vibe of exotic fantasy displayed
from her strange language (23), such an impression then leading to her positioning as the Other whom
which the knight fails to comprehend. But she is also mystical in that her very being is subjected to
unfixable definition. The lady is attributed to be both belle dame and beldame , her dual identity
presenting as a macaronic pun (Williams 214), as a bilingual mix of words operating within the same
context. While belle dame in French depicts a pleasant beautiful maiden, the English version beldame
contradictorily points towards the figuration of a malicious old hag. Thus, the lady s name itself
already signifies a kind of perplexing fluidity. Her true nature can never be clearly captured by the
knight, akin to how one can never grasp flowing water within the palm. Right from the start, she is
already portrayed as an elusive Dionysian entity which cannot be readily subsumed within the
Establishment s fixed Apollonian codes of understanding. The knight regards her brows as washed out
with feverish dew (10). Dew holds a refreshing quality and symbolically represents the vitality of
renewal. However, this pristineness is quickly being transmuted into that which enacts agony and

Television and Crude Language
Why is crude language used in television? Some people think that the crude language used in
television serves no purpose and shows that a program was made by a bunch of idiots, intellectually,
who cannot think of anything intelligent to say. On the other side of the spectrum, people could argue
that vulgar language in movies or television serves as a way to make fun or to interpret stupidity in our
society. In the comedic movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the main characters, Stan, Kyle,
Cartman, and Kenny sneak into an R rated animated musical called Terrance and Phillip Asses of Fire
, which uses a high volume of crude language. This movie was so terrible that everybody in the movie
theatre left, while the only people that stayed through the whole film were Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and
Kenny. After the movie, the boys were using all the crude language that they had learned from the
movie Terrance and Phillip. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, use crude
language throughout their episodes to represent the social issues in America. The creators use the
crude language to cause attention, to practice their freedom of speech in America, and to rebel against
censorship in television which contributes to the success of this program. South Park discusses issues
prevalent in today s society and encourages people to practice their freedom of speech, which is why
this program should be watched by more people. South Park is a very successful television

Use Of Satire In Candide
In the novel Candide by the French Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, the use of satire is
highly prevalent. Voltaire took many of the follies and views he disagreed with during the
Enlightenment and satirized them in this highly unrealistic and exaggerated novel. The events
throughout the novel, even if they have some connections or roots in historical events, are seemingly
preposterous and embellished because of Voltaire s heavy use of satire. However, Voltaire merely uses
these embellishments to accomplish his critique of certain parts of Enlightenment thinking that he
believed were foolish or incorrect. One of Voltaire s main uses of satire is his satirization of the
philosophical optimism held by some Enlightenment philosophers. For example, the German
philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, who is mentioned briefly in the novel by the character
Pangloss, is actually where the term best of all worlds originates from (Voltaire, 139 140). Voltaire
uses the main, and title, character Candide to satirize the foolishness of philosophical optimism by
having Candide go through so many hardships to prove this to readers.
The Enlightenment was a great shift in thinking and in part was inspired by the scientific revolution
and lead to many great advancements (Lecture, 9/10/14). Great thinkers and philosophers
revolutionized the way the population, regardless of class, thought about various aspects of life. From
politics to religion new ideas and ways of thinking

David pulled the bedclothes up to his chin. The eerie moaning continued, unperturbed by this small
defiance. It s just the wind in the chimney, he told himself, over and over. It s nothing to worry about.
Footsteps started towards his door from the dark corridor outside it. Slow, steady, purposeful
footsteps, edging ever closer to his lonely, dark room. David reached above his head and turned his
gas lamp up, so that it lit the room with flickering orange, creating strange shadows that danced on the
walls like a five year olds nightmare. The footsteps reached his door. There was a barely perceptible

Ukiyo-E Research Paper
The name of the art form, ukiyo e, translates to paintings of the floating world . They are Japanese
woodblock prints that flourished during the Edo Period (1603 1867) and depicted subjects associated
with impermanence and detachment from ordinary life. Among these subjects were the popular geisha,
sumo, and kabuki actors set in this after hours world. Later, painted scenes from nature became a
subject matter for artists.
The themes in ukiyo e focused on fleeting beauty and evanescent worlds; it was an escape from the
boring and mundane world of responsibilities in everyday life. At first, Ukiyo e artworks were all
monochromatic and printed in black ink only. However, Suzuki Harunobu developed polychrome

result was an art that was both populist and highly sophisticated. Ukiyo e presented both the historical

extraordinary in the hands of the artist.
Each image was created through a collaboration of four skilled individuals: the artist who designed the
works and drew them in ink, the carver who carved the designs into a woodblock, the printer who
applied pigments to the woodblock and printed each color on handmade paper, and the publisher who
coordinated the efforts of the artists and marketed the artworks. In spite of this collaborative effort,
only the artist and publisher were almost always accredited.
Midway through the 18th century, new techniques were created to allow the full color printing and

A Brief Look at the Navajo Nation
The times have changed, but the spirit lives on. The Navajo are a Native American tribe that resides as
their own nation in the southwestern part of the United States. The land consists of desert and
mountains, so the Navajo had to learn many skills to live and adapt with the land. They gathered
plants and nuts to eat, hunted animals for meat, and used the skins to keep warm at night as the
temperature in the desert drops to below freezing. As times changed the Navajo adapted their skills to
benefit them. They got herds of goats and sheep and used wool from the sheep to weave amazing
blankets. Today, the Navajo tribe teaches their cultural traditions and beliefs to their children and
followers. They believe nature is sacred and they give thanks to the animals and plants they use for
food. The Navajo passed on their beliefs that the people emerged into the world to escape a flood in
the lower world. The Navajo also tell many stories to show respect for nature and the spirits and
neglect the ones of being treated unlawfully. The Navajo Nation allows these people to try and
maintain the lifestyle that their ancestors lived, with some modern exceptions. Most Navajo people
live on the reservations, but sadly, they are poverty stricken. However, it is a place where they are
sheltered from a growing society. Due to all of this, the Navajo s unique traditions and beliefs, along
with its prior mistreatment, justify the formation of their own nation.

How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies
Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies
It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the
symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more
than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this
book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about
children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning.
This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in
debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and
deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had
symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets
the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). Golding consistently looked for ways to add
symbols in his novel. Many critics pointed out how much this story was symbolic. A story so
explicitly symbolic as this might easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Use of Creative Color Throughoutout F. Scott...
F. Scott Fitzgerald creatively utilizes colors throughout his novel, The Great Gatsby, not only to
provide the reader with a rich visual image of the scene taking place, but also to convey certain
symbols within the story. To begin with, one must understand what each color symbolizes. Green
symbolizes hope, blue symbolizes illusion, red means violence or love, yellow illustrates wealth or
death, white is innocence, and gray or black symbolizes corruption. The reader can see that color
symbolism is used to characterize Tom Buchanan. Another character, Daisy Buchanan, is also
associated with a few different colors. The usage of colors in The Great Gatsby conveys many

After Myrtle s death, a pink light is shown from Daisy s window at her home―showing how violence
has been mixed into Daisy s innocent character. Another character, Jordan Baker, is also associated
with color within the novel. Jordan Baker is a friend of Daisy Buchanan s and a relatively famous golf
player. At the beginning of the novel, Jordan is described as having gray eyes, so the reader can
assume first hand that she must be associated with some kind of corruption. Later on in the novel, the
reader finds that Jordan was accused of cheating during a golf tournament―which is likely the cause
of why Jordan is associated with being corrupt: At her first big golf tournament there was...a
suggestion that she had moved her ball from a bad lie in the semi final round. The thing approached
the proportions of a scandal―then died away (57). Therefore, the reader may understand why
corruption is symbolized by Jordan s gray eyes from this quote. Like Daisy, Jordan is also associated
with wealth―and this is mostly conveyed in her slender golden arm (43) and yellow hair. She is
famous for her golf career, and shows up to Gatsby s party, which is why she must be associated with
wealth and high status. Therefore, color is a very prominent aspect of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The
Great Gatsby. Daisy is most often associated

The Disadvantages Of Sexual Diversity Of Reproducing Species
One advantage of sexual reproduction is that these organisms generally have greater genetic diversity.
Organisms who reproduce asexually, on the other hand, are essentially clones of each other. This
means that their predators can adapt to hunt them easily. The diversity of sexually reproducing
organisms allows them to stay a step ahead of their predators because of their genetic variations and
their ability to adapt via natural selection (Brockmyre 2015).
The Red Queen Hypothesis states that species must keep evolving to keep up. It is based on a quote
from Through the Looking Glass: It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place.
Predators are evolving to best hunt their prey so the prey must keep evolving to survive (Brockmyre
2015).
Robert Vrijenhoek observed these processes in topminnows. The ponds where these fish live include
fish that reproduce sexually and fish that produce assexually. This population is affected by parasites
that cause black spot disease. He found that more of the assexual fish were afftected than the sexual
fish. This is because when the parasites were able to effeccrively attack one assexual fish, they could
attack all of them as they are clones. This didn t apply to sexually producing fish as they were all
different ( The Red Queen 2001). Sexual reproduction has caused monogamy in some species. In
these species, it is essential for the father to help raise the young, but the father won t help unless he

Fascism is a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power. It is usually emphasized
by aggressive nationalism and often racism. Two countries that adopted fascism were Germany and
Italy. Germany was under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, while Italy was under Benito Mussolini.
Fascism led both countries to have extreme nationalism and instilled a great sense of pride in both
countries. This great national pride can be seen during the initial years of World War II. Both countries
took aggressive actions in Europe and Africa because of their national pride.

the public sphere. It allowed for the institution of patriotic symbols such as national songs, literature,
and emblems. The French Revolution was the first to institute the idea of a nation state, in which the

Empathy is what differs androids from humans but what if androids has implanted memories as
Rachel Rosen (another android) has and can value human life and animals life because of the
memories she has. What differs the andys from the humans then if they act exactly like us, think like
us and can show empathy towards other living creatures? Rick Deckard has no empathy towards
living thing but for himself and what makes him human and not an android? Rick questions his
existence if he really is human or actually an android. But he realizes that he is human because he
eventually empathize with androids, his wife and the electric animals.
I never felt like that before. Maybe it could be depression, like you get. I can understand how you
suffer now when you re depressed; I always thought you liked it and I thought you could have
snapped yourself out any time, if not alone then by means of the mood organ. But when you get that
depressed you don t care. Apathy, because you ve lost a sense of worth. It doesn t matter whether you

Bio Engineered Foods Essay
The advancements in the field of biotechnology have enabled scientists to aid the production of bio
engineered food products. Bio engineered foods are created with the insertion of a new gene into a
plant or organism to change it s traits. This altercation of DNA produces new proteins that create this
change. In order to better fill consumer demands and receive a larger profit, farmers use genetically
modified crops to: help assure a longer plant life, improve nutrition in food, and resist certain
herbicides. With these changes comes fault, after the plantation when this food hits the market there is
no mandate for the labeling of genetically modified foods. It is believed that these foods have their
benefits, however, their risks hold a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the dangers begin to pile the possibilities become dire, Many children in the US and Europe have
developed life threatening allergies to peanuts and other foods. There is a possibility that introducing a
gene into a plant may create a new allergen or cause an allergic reaction in susceptible individuals ...
Extensive testing of GM foods may be required to avoid the possibility of harm to consumers with
food allergies (4). It is obviously necessary that genetically modified foods be closer studied before
they can be declared safe. Other risks pertain to consumer health, Many people believe that
organically produced foods are, in some way, healthier than conventionally produced foods, and they
seek out products that are labeled organic because organic agriculture shuns synthetic chemical
pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers (2). It shouldn t be an issue if consumers want options, especially
to stay healthy. Putting consumers at risk for the sake of not writing text on a label, isn t worth it. If
genetically modified foods are so safe then why has it become an issue to label them? Without the
mandatory labeling of these foods, this is a risk the consumer has no choice but to take. An even
bigger drawback of bio engineered food is their effect on the environment. Not only can these foods
effect humans, they effect nature and wildlife as well, B.t. toxins kill many species of insect larvae
indiscriminately; it is not possible to design a B.t.

Tumor of the Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma is the most common type of thyroid cancer, comprising

Surgery is done to remove as much of the cancer as possible. The bigger the lump, the more of the
thyroid gland must be removed. Frequently, the entire gland is taken out. After the surgery, most
patients should receive radioactive iodine, which is usually taken by mouth. This substance kills any
remaining thyroid tissue. It also helps make medical images clearer, so doctors can see if there is any
additional cancer. If surgery is not an option, external radiation therapy can be useful. After surgery or
radioactive iodine, the patient will need to take medication hormone that the thyroid would normally

Summary Of The Aleph And The Garden Of Forking Paths
Postmodernism was a period that challenged the validity of accepted knowledge as social constructs
through explorations of different possibilities. Most of Borges s work follow similar patterns and
themes that capture the essence of Postmodernism by examining various philosophical ideas of time
and space. Specifically, in The Aleph and The Garden of Forking Paths , Borges plays with the idea of
the infinite in various ways throughout each narrative in order to plant a similar idea in the readers
minds. [fix that last sentence] [body #1: talk about how he talks about infinities differently through
different writing styles (aleph: more personal style)] In both short stories, Borges explores into the
idea of multiple pathways and views in a single position. In The Aleph, Borges himself is the main
character who is given the opportunity to view the world and all its possibilities in a basement. The
focus of the story seems to be on the ability to see infinite points from a single point. The Garden of
Forking Paths explores the same idea through the discussion of a book that also serves the purpose of
a labyrinth. Though it does deal with the same concept of multiple pathways from a single point, The
Garden of Forking Paths seem to apply more emphasis on the actual concept of multiple pathways
through thorough discussion and explanation of the idea. [insert quote on how the book is a labyrinth]
[While the The Aleph seems to discuss the idea of an access to all points

  • 3. The Movie Thelma And Louise I don t care, I love it The film Thelma and Louise is most famous for its ending scene. The iconic scene of the two girls kissing and driving off the canyon into their death is present even today in pop culture and referred back by those who liked it. Although the kiss in the scene was not a romantic kiss, it captured the love between the two girls, not a romantic homosexualised love, but a heteronormal sisterhood type of love. Also, their faces prove that they died happy, and chose to die not only because they had no other choice but because that way they had agency as to what would happen to them and how they would die. The ending is empowering to women, because the women have the power of choice, even though they die. Unlike other films we have seen in class such as Vertigo and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon where the women who die do not seem happy or content with their demise. Throughout the film both Thelma and Louise are fighting against the patriarchy they must endure daily and a life they no longer want to live, in a society where they cannot fully express who they are. The women decide to go on a girl s weekend, from there they run into various predicaments that eventually lead to their deaths. When Louise picks up Thelma, she asks how did Daryll let you come? and she admits she did not tell him. This moment in the film shows how repressed these women were. Women s Liberation Movement Of The 1960s And 1970s History 304 Casey Bryant Section 4 Module 11 The women s liberation movement (or feminism as it is now known) of the 1960s and 1970s touched every home, business, and school (WA, 705). The movement even touched the sports and entertainment industries, in fact, There are few areas of contemporary life untouched by feminism (WA, 717). The word feminism in the early 1960 s wasn t often used and when it was it was used with condescension or hatred. However, in the late sixties that changed thanks to a new group of women. This new diverse group of women included the: young, old, heterosexual, lesbians, working class, and even the privileged. Wood Thrush Populations The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics clustered in any particular part of the species range? Theory in nursing practice provides a rationale for collecting reliable and valid data about the health status of clients, which are essential for effective decision making and implementation. Nursing theory also serves as a guide assessment, interventions, and evaluation of nursing practice. Theories can address important questions for nursing units. Theories can be grand, middle range and practice. Grand theories provide a complex and broad scope and incorporate numerous ways of viewing concepts in nursing. Middle range nursing theories are narrower in scope and offer an effective bridge between grand nursing theories and nursing practice. The Ida J. Orlando s middle range nursing theory provides a nursing foundation for nursing leaders to utilize both in the management of patient care and leadership. When applying Orlando s theory, nursing leaders can identify perceptions, thoughts and feelings about patients care, then educate nursing staff on meeting the patient s needs. The theory combines competent nursing practice and customer satisfaction. Meeting the patient s needs reduces patient distress levels. Bedside nurses must be diligent and confident of their nursing skills. When provided with great leadership, nurses will feel more confident in their ability to provide quality patient care. When we get love from people it makes us stronger. Not everyone has had the love that some of us get. For example, in The Color Purple celie, the main character, has trouble loving herself because she s been abused by her father and her husband. She says she s already dead inside since she has never felt the love from anyone. Alice Walker uses conflict, symbolism, and irony to demonstrate how love affects us when we don t receive it and why we shouldn t take it for granted. To begin with, when people are married they should show their love to each other. Abusing shouldn t happen at all because the couple love each other so much that they care if one of them gets hurt. Conflict is shown when celie starts getting abused by her husband. She gets the belt and she turns herself into a tree. He beat me like he beat the children. Cept he don t never hardly beat them. He say, Celie, git the belt. The children be outside the room peeking through the cracks. It all I can do not to cry. I make myself wood. I say to myself, Celie, you a tree. Without any fixed infrastructure nodes making a temporary network where all nodes are arbitrarily free to move. In the network nodes are act as routers, which take part in finding and maintenance of routes to other nodes [1]. Wireless connection in MANET is highly misplay and due to mobility of nodes it goes down usually. Due to highly dynamic environment coherent routing is a very difficult task in Mobile Ad hoc Network [2]. In this paper, we esteem a particular category of DoS attacks called Jamming. In actual fact, the mobile host in mobile ad hoc networks is a part of wireless medium. Thus, the radio signals can be jammed or interfered, which make the message to be amoral or missed. If the attacker has a strong transmitter, a signal can be launched that will be strong enough to conquer the directed signals and distort communications. There are several attack schemes that a jammer can do in order to interfere with other wireless communications. 1.1 Jamming attack The motive of jamming attack is to fill up the communication channel with purposeless signals, due to which verified or permissible user cannot use it. Ali Alzahrani Arizona State University Imagine that everything in the life is operated by computers including people basics duties such as cooking, washing, working, or even thinking instead of the person. It could be something magnificent for some people, but others would think that technology would worsen people s lives. In other words, the problem of technology is that it is essential in our lives, but it has negative and positive effects on us. A look around our everyday surroundings tells us that technology is ubiquitous, and it almost exists in every aspect of people s lives and architecture is not an exemption from this. Architects cannot move forward in their designs if they neglect the crucial need of technology nowadays. At the same time, this technology has affected architects work in general. While some people allege that technology has not affected the architects manner of thinking, others agree that it has negatively affected the way that architects think. • 15. Wireless Sensor Networks Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy consumption for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief research concern. In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been considered as one of the effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication related energy consuming roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and the other role is to relay packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations. This is why the energy minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN. WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO) technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space time block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power long distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply MIMO technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a single antenna. Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a cooperative MIMO technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4]. The single hop energy ... The essay will be concerned with the paramount role the Other plays in Shelley s Frankenstein and Keats poems. Since this entity entails elements of unusualness and is thus incomprehensible, it already dwells within the realm of oddness and unknowability. Therefore, the figure of the Other in this essay will be treated as synonymous with that which is strange or mysterious . The lady is attributed to be both belle dame and beldame , her dual identity presenting as a macaronic pun (Williams 214), as a bilingual mix of words operating within the same context. While belle dame in French depicts a pleasant beautiful maiden, the English version beldame contradictorily points towards the figuration of a malicious old hag. Thus, the lady s name itself already signifies a kind of perplexing fluidity. Her true nature can never be clearly captured by the knight, akin to how one can never grasp flowing water within the palm. Right from the start, she is already portrayed as an elusive Dionysian entity which cannot be readily subsumed within the Establishment s fixed Apollonian codes of understanding. Some people think that the crude language used in television serves no purpose and shows that a program was made by a bunch of idiots, intellectually, who cannot think of anything intelligent to say. On the other side of the spectrum, people could argue that vulgar language in movies or television serves as a way to make fun or to interpret stupidity in our society. In the comedic movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the main characters, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny sneak into an R rated animated musical called Terrance and Phillip Asses of Fire , which uses a high volume of crude language. • 27. Use Of Satire In Candide In the novel Candide by the French Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, the use of satire is highly prevalent. Voltaire took many of the follies and views he disagreed with during the Enlightenment and satirized them in this highly unrealistic and exaggerated novel. The events throughout the novel, even if they have some connections or roots in historical events, are seemingly preposterous and embellished because of Voltaire s heavy use of satire. However, Voltaire merely uses these embellishments to accomplish his critique of certain parts of Enlightenment thinking that he believed were foolish or incorrect. One of Voltaire s main uses of satire is his satirization of the philosophical optimism held by some Enlightenment philosophers. For example, the German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, who is mentioned briefly in the novel by the character Pangloss, is actually where the term best of all worlds originates from (Voltaire, 139 140). Voltaire uses the main, and title, character Candide to satirize the foolishness of philosophical optimism by having Candide go through so many hardships to prove this to readers. The Enlightenment was a great shift in thinking and in part was inspired by the scientific revolution and lead to many great advancements (Lecture, 9/10/14). Great thinkers and philosophers revolutionized the way the population, regardless of class, thought about various aspects of life. From politics to religion new ideas and ways of thinking ... How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning. This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). At the beginning of the novel, Jordan is described as having gray eyes, so the reader can assume first hand that she must be associated with some kind of corruption. Later on in the novel, the reader finds that Jordan was accused of cheating during a golf tournament―which is likely the cause of why Jordan is associated with being corrupt: At her first big golf tournament there was...a suggestion that she had moved her ball from a bad lie in the semi final round. • 37. The Disadvantages Of Sexual Diversity Of Reproducing Species One advantage of sexual reproduction is that these organisms generally have greater genetic diversity. Organisms who reproduce asexually, on the other hand, are essentially clones of each other. This means that their predators can adapt to hunt them easily. The diversity of sexually reproducing organisms allows them to stay a step ahead of their predators because of their genetic variations and their ability to adapt via natural selection (Brockmyre 2015). The Red Queen Hypothesis states that species must keep evolving to keep up. It is based on a quote from Through the Looking Glass: It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. Predators are evolving to best hunt their prey so the prey must keep evolving to survive (Brockmyre 2015). Robert Vrijenhoek observed these processes in topminnows. The ponds where these fish live include fish that reproduce sexually and fish that produce assexually. This population is affected by parasites that cause black spot disease. He found that more of the assexual fish were afftected than the sexual fish. This is because when the parasites were able to effeccrively attack one assexual fish, they could attack all of them as they are clones. This didn t apply to sexually producing fish as they were all different ( The Red Queen 2001). Sexual reproduction has caused monogamy in some species. Summary Of The Aleph And The Garden Of Forking Paths Postmodernism was a period that challenged the validity of accepted knowledge as social constructs through explorations of different possibilities. Most of Borges s work follow similar patterns and themes that capture the essence of Postmodernism by examining various philosophical ideas of time and space. Specifically, in The Aleph and The Garden of Forking Paths , Borges plays with the idea of the infinite in various ways throughout each narrative in order to plant a similar idea in the readers minds. [fix that last sentence] [body #1: talk about how he talks about infinities differently through different writing styles (aleph: more personal style)] In both short stories, Borges explores into the idea of multiple pathways and views in a single position. In The Aleph, Borges himself is the main character who is given the opportunity to view the world and all its possibilities in a basement. The focus of the story seems to be on the ability to see infinite points from a single point. The Garden of Forking Paths explores the same idea through the discussion of a book that also serves the purpose of a labyrinth. Though it does deal with the same concept of multiple pathways from a single point, The Garden of Forking Paths seem to apply more emphasis on the actual concept of multiple pathways through thorough discussion and explanation of the idea.
