Proposal

Subject Chosen:

I have come to the decision that I will base my coursework project around the ‘Self Identity’
theme; more specifically of teenagers going through problems and finding themselves. I feel
that if I look closely at teenagers, I will be able to do deeper into the ‘self identity’ theme,
more so than any other theme. There are many underlying problems with teenagers today,
and I would like to explore them in depth and get different messages across in the
photographs that I produce.

How:

I will be using a small compact Fuji-film camera to capture my images. I feel that this way, I
can experiment with the different settings and modes on my camera, so I can produce sets
of lots of different types of photographs and also interpret different feels and moods within
my photographs.

Limitations and Constraints:

There are some limitations to this ‘self identity’ theme. Firstly, it may be difficult to find the
correct person to use as my model. I will have to think carefully about who I choose, as I
want people to be able to relate to my images and the messages that come across within
the images. I may also struggle because it could be challenging to capture certain images, as
some topics may be sensitive, for example; disorders or self harm. I wanted to really explore
this theme and go very deeply into it; however there are many limitations that may stop me
doing so.

How the work will be developed:

My intention is to capture my images, but also bring different messages to the images. I plan
to use as many different techniques and settings as possible to get different emotions and
feels across. I feel that this will bring a wider range to my photographs, and therefore,
reflect the self identity theme to the maximum.

What final outcomes may you create and how?

My aim is for the final outcome to be very varied in emotion, subject and messages. Most of
my images will be posed as I want to get the exact feel across and I want each photograph
to have a story or moral behind it. All of my final photographs will capture a teenager in one
way or another and they will hopefully connect to one another.

Proposal

  • 1. Proposal Subject Chosen: I have come to the decision that I will base my coursework project around the ‘Self Identity’ theme; more specifically of teenagers going through problems and finding themselves. I feel that if I look closely at teenagers, I will be able to do deeper into the ‘self identity’ theme, more so than any other theme. There are many underlying problems with teenagers today, and I would like to explore them in depth and get different messages across in the photographs that I produce. Research: How: I will be using a small compact Fuji-film camera to capture my images. I feel that this way, I can experiment with the different settings and modes on my camera, so I can produce sets of lots of different types of photographs and also interpret different feels and moods within my photographs. Contextual Links: Technical: Aesthetic: Limitations and Constraints: There are some limitations to this ‘self identity’ theme. Firstly, it may be difficult to find the correct person to use as my model. I will have to think carefully about who I choose, as I want people to be able to relate to my images and the messages that come across within the images. I may also struggle because it could be challenging to capture certain images, as some topics may be sensitive, for example; disorders or self harm. I wanted to really explore this theme and go very deeply into it; however there are many limitations that may stop me doing so. How the work will be developed: My intention is to capture my images, but also bring different messages to the images. I plan to use as many different techniques and settings as possible to get different emotions and feels across. I feel that this will bring a wider range to my photographs, and therefore, reflect the self identity theme to the maximum. What final outcomes may you create and how? My aim is for the final outcome to be very varied in emotion, subject and messages. Most of my images will be posed as I want to get the exact feel across and I want each photograph
  • 2. to have a story or moral behind it. All of my final photographs will capture a teenager in one way or another and they will hopefully connect to one another.
