In the first few weeks, the students researched other films for inspiration, developed ideas for their own films, and learned film techniques like camera angles and shots. They practiced using cameras and microphones. Then in weeks 3 and 4, they developed storylines and created pre-production materials like storyboards and shot lists. In week 5, they filmed their projects, edited the footage, added sound effects and music, and gave peer feedback before uploading their final films.

2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. In the first week we did research for the films we wanted to make and
watched other short films to get inspiration. We completed the first
proforma about our different ideas within the different genres and what
we were planning on making within the project. We made Mind maps
and learnt about different camera angles, shots and what they mean
within the film. We got a a main idea of what film we wanted to create
within the project and got a main idea to stem from.
4. In the second week we practiced the techniques that we will need
within the filming process. We made a short video to practice how to
use the cameras so we knew what we were doing when we came to
filming which we then had to edit which helped up within the editing
process due to there being different techniques within this project.
Then we also did an audio activity to practice knowing how to use the
hand held microphones. Within this we had a clip from a movie and
had to record audio to go with the movie clip then edit it into the clip
to make sense. This was quite fun and enjoyable also taught me new
techniques.
5. In week 3 we started the Pre-production proforma, we started to
create a general story for our films. We created a story development
which was a basic summary of what we wanted to create within the
film. We then did a structural breakdown which was breaking it into
certain sections such as separate scenes and created a script. The
breakdown consisted of the scene number, approximate timing of the
scene, a general summary of what happens and then visual and
audio notes which consisted of the camera movements and audio
ideas such as music/sound effects.
6. In week 4 we continued the pre production proforma we did more
visual planning in this week and created story boards to plan out our
story lines and settings for our scenes. We then also created a shot
list which was quite detailed way of laying out how many shots we
needed and what we needed to do and gave us a better idea with
time management. We then started the third section of the proforma
which included production group information, cast information,
location information, risk assesment, contingency planning which
included problem planning, production schedule, call sheets. We then
planned sounds non-diegetic sound and diegetic sound.
7. In week 5 we started the filming which we borrowed equipment for.
We then edited it, adding sound effects and music and cutting scenes
that didn’t work. This took a couple of days to do due to having to film
twice as my footage was shaky and dark. We have then done this
power point. We then swapped computers with 3 people and did peer
assessments. We then uploaded everything to blogger.
