Will Cave documented their work over several weeks of production. The first week involved developing vague ideas and concepts for the production and considering how camera angles could be used, such as a low angle making a character seem powerful. The following week was spent practicing different camera angles and shots to get comfortable using them, as well as experimenting with editing effects like slow motion. Planning for the short films occurred one week, including booking equipment and shot lists. Filming was split among group members over multiple days one week, with some editing in between. The final week was for completing edits, uploading the short films, and evaluating the overall process and progress.
2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. That week was us thinking of vague
ideas and concepts, that would possibly
be incorporated into the production. It
was also where we started to think about
how we would use camera angles and
shot types, and what how they affected
the production. For example a low angle
can make a character look more
powerful and as if they have authority.
We noted all of this down on a
combination of the initial plans
PowerPoint and on our blogs.
4. That week we were filming to
get into the habit of using
different camera angles and
shots. In order for us to use
them more frequently and to a
greater effect in our final
production for the short film
rotation. We also got a
chance to use more editing
effects, for example slow
motion. These were helpful as
they can be used in the final
production. In that week we
also used Foley to give a 50
second silent clip from Shaun
of the Dead, this gave us
valuable experience with the
use and capture of audio.
5. That week was all about planning out what we should happen with our short
films. Like booking equipment, planning which shots to do and which order
to do them in.
6. That week was mainly for filming but
also a some editing as well. We split
the week out to make it a bit easier to
film. For example Tuesday was for
filming Josh’s, Wednesday was for
filming Luke's, Thursday and Friday
were for filming mine. in between all
the filming we did the editing on our
short film.
7. This week is for finishing off the editing,
uploading our short films and to evaluate it all.
To really explore how far we have come and
see our progress in this area of creative media,
and to see where we can improve in the if we
had more time.
