The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

13. Personal Statement
I am applying for these courses because media is something that really interests me. I think it's very relevant in this
generation and it's important to me to know how the media can make people feel certain things through simple
techniques. I think people don't look at media the same and print is often disregarded unless it's mainly web based. I
would really like to continue and education within the media to improve my knowledge and eventually get a job
working within the industry. I think I would be a great student to take onto the course as I am independent but can also
work in a team and I am confident and I think I'd I would be a great addition to any course. My aspirations within media
are not completely clear however I am excited to invest more time into exploring the subject and getting to realise a
real career aspiration for after university. My skills have definitely grown within my time at college. I have gained skills
on things such as Photoshop, InDesign and also just more creative ways of thinking within writing and designing. For
college I started in 2016 doing A Levels however I did not enjoy these therefore I enrolled for creative media in 2017.
Within my first year of doing Creative media at college I created a short film which I filmed myself and edited. I also did
some foley work with this project and added some extra sound effects to the film post-editing to make the sound
effects and the music I'd added stand out more within this film. I also worked on a video game with pixel art, which I
designed myself and came up with the idea myself, this was a simple platform game but I did all the artwork myself and
also did the animation on Photoshop before adding sound effects and music. Additionally I did a magazine which was
based around fashion and it was a great project that I thoroughly enjoyed and is the reason I chose to do print within
my second year. I enjoyed the photography and all of the design work for the magazine and working out a colour
scheme and a whole theme for the magazine. I then went on to do my final major project which was a fashion
magazine. I really enjoyed writing the articles for this and doing the photography for this project. So much so that for
my second year I have gone into doing print and I am now working on a fanzine for my first project based around music
which I'm very excited to do production for. In school, I won the endeavour award. This amplifies the fact that I will
always put in 100% effort into everything I do. Within my spare time I really enjoy photography and writing. I love
writing articles for my projects at college and I also enjoy all types of photography. I've worked within retail a few times
and that's definitely improved my confidence and experience with speaking to the public. I cannot wait to be able to
work with different people and see what university can bring to me and what I can bring to the course.
Editor's Notes
Write a short paragraph about subjects you’ve already studied at school/college that have helped prepare you for your chosen courses at University- level 2 or GCSE level. What did you make? What skills did you learn? Why did this make you want to progress on and study further etc.
