Example Of Predictive Policing
The role of research within the criminal justice system is aimed towards reducing criminal activity in a
potentially popular crime area. law enforcement agencies do this is through a number of ways. One of
them is predictive policing. Predictive policing refers to the use of mathematical, predictive and
analytical techniques in law enforcement to identify potential criminal activity
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_policing). Predictive policing works with situational
awareness and anticipation of human behavior, resulting in the development or strategies to prevent
criminal activity.
How does this work, we ask? well its simple, its starts with data collection, this comes from the
analyzation of repeat offenders, repeat victims, and locations or types of targets. This data is then
analyzed to obtain an understanding of criminal activity trends. The law enforcement agencies make a
prediction based on data provided more officers or specific task forces would be inserted into
designated high crime areas. The data is reevaluated to see if the methods used are effective, if not
they will gather more data and create a plan that works, crime can not be completely stopped but it can

Using reports involving lesser crimes gathered from the immediate and surrounding coverage areas,
the agency forecasts the increase in short term illegal activity and then intervenes by increasing law
enforcement presence in the predicted high risk areas. Kansas City Police Department uses predictive
policing software to monitor and analyze criminal organizations, social media activity, and drug
consumption. Through an initiative called the Kansas City No Violence Alliance (KC NoVA

Steve Jobs The Man Wo Thought Different By Karen Blumenthal
US In The World 2 Journal Reflection
This semester, I am reading Steve Jobs: The Man WHo Thought Different by Karen Blumenthal. This
book goes through the life story of Steve Jobs, Co founder of Apple. A main focus of this book is that
Steve thought very weirdly. Mike Scott says in the book, He likes to fly around like a hummingbird at
ninety miles per hour. (Blumenthal 81) When Jobs walked into the Atari offices with the intent to get
hired, he refused to leave until he was, and it worked. Steve Jobs thought and worked in a way that
would be extremely odd to most people, but it worked wonders for him. In high school, Steve Jobs
made friends with a man named Steve Wozniak. Wozniak was also very much into technology,

Relationship Between Orthodontic And Periodontics
The term synergy refers to two or more agents acting together to create an effect greater than that
predicted by knowing only the separate effects of the individual agents. This definition is applicable to
the classic relationship between orthodontic and periodontics specialties in treating patients.1
An Interdisciplinary approach is often necessary to treat complex dental problems in our patients and
the example is ortho perio inter relation. A desire to improve dentofacial appearance has been found to
be the primary motivating factor for seeking treatment in adults.
Plaque is a major etiologic factor in the development of periodontal disease.
Results from past animal studies done in dentitions with reduced periodontium showed that in the
absence of plaque, orthodontic forces and tooth movements do not induce gingivitis. The orthodontic
bands, brackets and wires compromises the self cleansing property of the dentition which further
contribute to the development of gingival inflammation. Gingivitis and gingival over growth appear to
be the main short term effects of orthodontic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In adult patients, the loss of teeth or periodontal support can result in pathological migration of teeth
involving either a single tooth or a group of teeth. This may result in the development of a midline
diastema or spacing between the teeth with or without incisal proclination, rotation or tipping of
bicuspids and molars with the collapse of the posterior occlusion and decreasing vertical dimension.
Orthodontic treatment either helps to correct these problems, or it helps to prevent them from
progressing further. The main reasons cited to justify the provision of orthodontic treatment are
improvement of facial and dental aesthetics with dental health and function. However, association
between malocclusions and periodontal condition is still

Chaucer s The General Prologue Essay
Chaucer s The General Prologue Chaucer the pilgrim starts out The General Prologue with detailed
descriptions of each pilgrim as he views them. When Chaucer the pilgrim arrives at the Pardoner, he
becomes very focused on his physical appearance and what is seems to be missing. There is something
odd about this Pardoner and Chaucer the pilgrim can t seem to grasp just what that is. He describes
that the Pardoner is all on fire to do is job, just arriving from Rome (Bretful of pardon, come from
Rome al hoot). However, his eagerness to Pardon those for God does not help his physical appearance
in any respect. Chaucer the pilgrim describes his voice as that of a high pitched goat and points out
that he has no facial hair and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Putting together his femininely smooth, boyish appearance with the neutered animal pushes the
emphasis on the Pardoner s ambiguous sexuality. This description of the Pardoner through Chaucer
the pilgrim s eyes reaffirms the other pilgrims idea of him. His character is that of a gentle yet
pompous boy, who spends much time on his own appearance, especially his hair. The Pardoner seems
to attempt to market himself as a young bachelor in front of his fellow travelers but the attempt fails
miserably. When he interrupts the Wife of Bath s prologue to say, I m getting married soon, tell me
what to do to find a good wife, he further alienates himself from the group instead of redeeming
himself as a funny person. His interruption comes off more as a need for others to see him as desirable
by a female. Another odd quality of his character is his confession of his own sinfulness. The Pardoner
commits this grievous rhetorical fault in trying to gain their pride. The other characters don t need to
announce, These are my sins, because we find out through their story what that character is like.
However, the Pardoner has to announce his sins in hope of finding a connection with the other
pilgrims, for his story does not explain his character at all. In fact, it revolts his fellow travelers
because the

Mexico Profundo Reclaiming A Civilization Summary
In the book Mexico Profundo Reclaiming A Civilization by Bonfil Bonilla shows the reality of a
modern Mexico without neglecting the problems of the current government of Mexico. The Mexican
society is composed by different diversities of Indigenism and of high social groups that forms two
different types of Mexico such as the Mexico Profundo and the Imaginary Mexico which are different
worlds that are interpreted as Mesoamerican and European civilizations. Before and after the Mexican
Independence, the process from the pre Columbian time to a modern world in Mexico, had been a
complex movement, since there were battles, slavery, cultures, customs, democracy and struggles
containing different experiences that lead to what makes Mexico contemporary, hence; through the

Organizational Issues Affecting The Workplace
Unfortunately, through the success of being able to complete assignments in reasonable time it s not
without complications. Employees require financial security and for an organization in this sort of
environment the Custodial Model is perfect for the level of dependability and motivation management
seeks for quality performance. This is standard for the job quality that normally comes with
complications because of the emphasis on how things are supposed to be done. The seriousness of
each organizational issues that currently affects the work environment all differ. Currently in the
workplace, there are two major organizational issues that are affecting the process in which the

inability to strategically arrange plans for the long run future that is slowly destroying its worth. Also,
the incapability of individuals sticking to proper business ethics in the current economy. The system

Comparing Miss Brill And The Story Of An Hour
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin tells the life story of a woman named Mrs. Mallard a woman
who suffers from heart weakness and is feeling incarcerated in a marriage in which there is no love
from her to her partner, she is not in love with her husband at all. Ms. Mallard is a woman who doesn t
like the concept of being tied down to someone for the rest of their life s. She is the type who enjoys
her own company and from time to time dating but never being married to anyone. In this story we

Johnny Byron In Jerusalem
In Jerusalem, Johnny Byron is portrayed as an evil entity, compared throughout the play to ogres,
dragons, wolves and an outsider on the fringes of society. This could be interpreted as Johnny being a
monster, a character from a fairy tale full of magic that lures in innocent children for their rites of
passage and possible downfall. However, this could be seen as an unfair interpretation of Byron due to
suggestions of other more positive beings like the magic of the Romany blood and a modern day Peter
Pan. The fact that he s in the forest and the fringes of society also alludes to Byron being an
omniscient being. It shows Byron in a positive light because of the escape he offers to the characters
and the magic of the woods and what could be considered the Green World. The two possible
interpretations bring into question whether there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phaedra asks him if he ever gets lonely to which he responds, How can I? You rats never leave me
alone. (p. 102). This is because of Johnny and his trailer in the woods being nearly constantly visited
by the teenagers of Wiltshire. He refers to them as rats which supports the idea of the Pied Piper, the
teenagers following him and copying his habits. On the other hand, they could be seen as Peter Pan s
lost boys who follow and almost live with them. Either way, Johnny is not shown as an ogre, but a
fantastical figure that provides and place to escape to and drugs to use to distract them from the
possible harshness of their reality. This could be from the mundane routine that Lee seeks to escape
eventually deciding to move to Australia to Phaedra escaping the reality of her abusive stepfather and
the truth that she s no longer the May Queen. Johnny even attempts to defend this place of escape, the

The Most Important People In My Life
They say families always are there for you all the time that they are the most important people in your
life. In this case, that is true they are, but at the same time friends become more than that which makes
them be part of the family. The people that help me accomplish my goals would be my mom,
stepfather and my boyfriend.
My mom s name is Maria Reyes, and she currently lives in Brownsville, Texas about 1,318 miles
away from here in Iowa. She is works as secretary for two companies; she has been doing this more
than 15 years. My mother would prefer for me to focus on school because she was very intelligent
when she was my age. She notices that I love sports when I was very young like around 7 years old
therefore she allowed me to play sports. She was worried that I will only focus on sports and not
school. I got to my senior year; my mother started noticing that I was getting emails from different
colleges to compete for cross country and track so she finally realize it was time to let her daughter do
what she loves to do which was running. She started supporting me in going to William Penn
University, so she helped buy what I needed to start my journey here in Iowa. She motivated me each
day to do really good in school and sports in my senior year. She is everything to me because she
helped get me this far with my dreams of actually competing in college and going out of state to do
pursue my career. She is the reason why I am here today running and studying here because

Introduction. This Is One Of The Many Problems California
Introduction This is one of the many problems California has been facing even today. Drought has
been a growing problem in California each year. How to tackle this problem is up to government and
many scientists. There have been many case studies determining how and why drought has devastated
the state of California. Water is a necessary and most important resource in California. Our water
comes from groundwater, rivers, or lakes. Since California is facing a tremendous drought these
resources are becoming destroyed. Now there is low measures of water in these lakes and rivers where
we receive our water from. There are agencies that help deliver water to the major cities which all
comes from those lakes and reservoirs. What happens when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What is drought? What causes/affects drought? What things are essential to stop drought? What will it
take to stop drought in California? Will there be money needed? Are there any programs started to
reduce drought? Will the government be involved and what they will do? There will be
laws/regulations needed to prevent drought. Also I believe we as people need to change our habits and
not waste water.
Methods I will utilize this paper by using academic resources, governmental resources, and newspaper
resources. I have gathered a lot of information in relation to drought like from the Drought Brochure.
This brochure explains what a drought is, also talks about the history of droughts. Furthermore It
explains how a draught is caused and the relationship between groundwater and drought. My
academic sources and newspaper sources gave a good insight how the California drought was caused.
There was a lot of information on climate change and temperatures. As I researched for drought
causation mostly everything was on climate change. I managed to find a great article that talked about
the causes of drought lead by climate change and global warming. I also took advantage of my library
sources, I discussed drought with David Drexler who is in the water resource association he helped
clarify where we get our water from, what type of drought is occurring in California, and what a
drought is.

National Capital Territory
In recent years we have seen increase in crimes against women in the National Capital Territory
(NCT) of Delhi. It has been issue of prime concern and should be on priority for Government. Delhi,
being national capital and metropolitan city and also it is surrounded by many states attracts a large
number of population.
The people from neighboring states in search of employment or due to poverty indulge in criminal
activities. This is also influenced by mass media and stressful working conditions, which largely
attributed to increase in crimes against women. Delhi is being perceived most unsafe city of India for
women.
The topic deals with the understanding the planning of spaces of Delhi in terms of criminal activities,
especially to crimes against women. A major challenge in Delhi is ensuring the safety of one half of its
citizens. Delhi has the uncertain honour or recognition as the top ranking city among the one million
plus cities in the country in terms of crime against women.
Another disastrous aspect of the crime scenario is that the majority of the crimes are committed
against young children (11 18 years age group), who get shattered right at the start of their emerging
life.
To control these criminal activities Delhi was trifurcated in three ranges (New Delhi Range, Southern
Range, Northern Range) and further into 11 Districts and 54 Sub Divisions for the purpose of
maintaining law order and the work of above three ranges have been further divided into four

History Of Tcm And Traditional Chinese Medicine

HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME
Ancient China has a history of foot therapy; in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the feet have
held symbolical importance for both spiritual and physical well being for many centuries in the Orient.
Many Civilizations have practiced Reflexology. Evidence of this has been documented on four
continents, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The most common theory is that the earliest form
of reflexology originated in China as much as 5,000 years ago. Part of Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM), Chinese Reflexology is the ancient art of working pressure points on the feet, hands and ears
that correspond to different parts of the body. The Chinese are also known to have used Reflexology in
conjunction with acupuncture. Dr. Wong Wei, a Chinese Doctor in the fourth century BC evidently
used to position acupuncture needles in the patient s bodies and then apply very firm pressure with his
thumbs to the soles of their feet. This pressure was maintained for several minutes until the desired
therapeutic effects were achieved. Dr. Wong Wei maintained that as the pressure was applied and held
healing energy was released into the patient s body.
Reflexology traveled across India, Japan, Asia and China. Many changes took place in Zone Therapy
or Reflexology. Early evidence of Chinese Reflexology dates back to

Why You Should Know Your Clothes Come From Essay
This piece entitled Why You Should Know Where Your Clothes Come From is one published by a
niche sustainable fashion and lifestyle online magazine called Who What Where. It sets out to do just
what the title promised by trying to educate readers about the importance of knowing the process by
which their clothing is made and distributed. In order to achieve this task the author, Jessica Schiffer,
interviewed Maxine Bédat, the co founder of Zady, an increasingly popular sustainable fashion and
lifestyle brand. Together they assessed the current state of fast fashion, the large and frantically
growing market for clothing and accessory items, as well as the popular mega chains that fuel this
system. The article as a whole sets out to inform more than persuade and is divided into pockets of
information given by Bédat based on the interview questions the author asks. Essentially, this piece
seeks to convince through providing information. The target audience for this piece is broad; it is us,
the consumers who buy these clothing, and unknowingly, or unwillingly supports this system that is
described as having devastating effects both socially and environmentally. This topic, whilst
burdensome to look into is important for various reasons. Fashion is something that affects each of us
on varying levels, whether you re just buying a shirt for an upcoming interview or selecting choice
pieces for your extensive collection. Clothes are important; they say a lot about who you are, or at

Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament
Matthew is the first Gospel in the New Testament and is often considered to be the bridge between the
Old Testament and the New Testament. It was once thought to have been the first written Gospel
because of it being placed before all others, but that belief is not widely held (Hahn, n.d.). Just like
much of the rest of the Bible, no one is truly sure who the author or authors of the Gospel of Matthew
really were (Hahn, n.d.). While is it generally thought that Matthew, one of the Apostles of Jesus, was
the author of the Gospel of Matthew the only clear historical data that we have to substantiate this
comes from the Bishop of Hierapolis(BLB, n.d). Papias was the Bishop in Phrygia around the 2nd
century who collected information concerning the bible through oral methods. Because of this, there is
some doubt as to the credibility of the Bishop s sources ( Papias , n.d)
Matthew is known also as Levi in the bible and was often called Matthew, the tax collector ( Matthew
, n.d.). Matthew was called on by Jesus when he was seen at a tax collection booth and was told to join
by Jesus (Matthew 9:9). It was at this point that Matthew left his position as a tax collector, or
publican, to become an Apostle of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Matthew was the fifth of the twelve
original disciples of Jesus which can be ascertained by reading the beginning of the Gospel of
Matthew and in it, chapter four describes how Jesus walk through the land asking those he chose to

Why Libraries And Art Museums Serve The World
It means knowing exactly what your institution stands for, how we want to distinguish who we are,
how do we want to deliver the very best kind of result, cost effectively to the constituents that we
serve. In that sense, competitiveness is really important. It advances distinctiveness, when it is done
well, in its control. Finally, I think all of us have a responsibility, and especially you guys, for
thoughtful advocacy for the core value of what our institutions represent. Why do libraries and art
museums serve the world in fundamentally important ways? In much the same way one might argue
why liberal education and the humanities are important. There are core skills that we all know, that
those experiences in libraries, art museums, and so forth, help students to develop and that contribute
to the world in deep and meaningful ways. Foundational skills of, visual analysis, written
communication, and all of those things that go into being a thoughtful being that can make good
decisions. Rational approaches to reasoning. All of those things, education helps us to advance and
whatever one goes on to do when they graduate. Those skills will serve them well, there is no
question. Advancing critical literacy skills, how does one engage with ways of knowing? How does
one begin to understand bodies of knowledge and the vocabulary s that are behind them? That is
something that we help them to do, and once you learn how to do that and understand that it is a

This means that time needs to be left between exercise sessions to allow this recovery and rebuilding
process. For a beginner exercise sessions can take place every other day. But as the muscles get
stronger the stress placed on them is much greater and recovery time is longer. This means that the
interval between sessions needs to be longer.
The better types of exercises will include some cardio work. The leading sort of cardio is interval
training and a good way of doing that is sport. Sports that involve lots of sudden burst of intense work
are the best types, things like basketball are ideal. This sort of cardio is better for the joints and
provides a good workout for the heart. It is also a lot more fun than boring jogging, so it is much
easier to stick with.
The best type of exercises for body building needs the support of a good diet. A healthy diet will allow

The Effects Of Birth Defects On The Development Of The Fetus
Prenatal development is the process in which a human embryo or fetus gestates during pregnancy,
from fertilization until birth (Prenatal Development). Most cases of unhealthy development can be
avoided, however there are some genetic and environmental factors that cannot. Some genetic factors
that affect the development of the fetus are Phenylketonuria, Sickle cell Anemia, Tay Sachs Disease,
and Down Syndrome (Feldman 402). Some environmental teratogens that affect the development of
the fetus are disease, toxic substances, the mothers age and well being (Feldman 403). Teratogens are
environmental agents such as drugs, chemicals, viruses, or other factors that produce a birth defect
(Feldman 403). About 2 5% of all pregnancies that occur result in the fetus being born with a serious
birth defect. A cause of birth defects can be linked to faulty genes and or chromosomes (Feldman
402). The following diseases are more common when resulting from genetic and or chromosomal
adversity. Phenylketonuria, an inherited disease in which the fetus cannot produce the required
enzymes for normal development, results in the accumulation of poisons that eventually cause
intellectual disabilities (Feldman 402). This disease usually occurs in about 1 and 10,000 pregnancies,
and because of how rare this disease is, it has a successful treatments when caught early enough right
after birth (Phenylketonuria). This disease is caused by the PAH gene, the gene that is responsible for
making the

Observation Paper On Body Art
Different fashions will come in and out of style but people want to be able to stand out in their own
manner showing the world how they express themselves. A common form of self expression is by
getting a piercing or tattoo, something that can set a person apart from the majority. Body piercings
and tattoos on women at one time were unacceptable and distasteful in the United States. However
over time women having assorted types of body art has become more acceptable in society. Today
young women at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, use piercings and tattoos as a form of
self expression that is vastly encouraged by peers and social media. Each woman has a different
reason for why they personally want a piercing or a tattoo but are there some factors that have
influenced the college community of women as a whole?
As I started my research to find out what influences college aged women to get a piercing or tattoo, I
wanted my observation to take place where many different types of college women could be found. I
chose the campus library where women of all different ethnicities, religions, majors, and cultures
could be found. This would allow me to see these women as individuals. I began my observation on
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:00 pm, I sat at a table towards that back of the library so I was able to see the
majority of the main floor. I observed many women, all belonging to different social groups, having
different majors, and different senses of style, these women

Shadowing Backwards
When doing rounds and sitting at the desk with Megan at Ross, I learned a lot about the specific
procedures needed to be done at each task. The atmosphere is different at each task, considering that
desk duty is more laid back while rounds consisted of being more alert with the surrounding area.
While each are polar opposites of one another, they are both crucial when working as an RA. I began
my shadowing at the front desk and I was surprised to hear that not all RAs have to work the front
desk. I always thought that this role was part of being an RA, and that every RA had to work it. As I
continued to do my shadowing, I learned about the overall standards that the front desk has to
maintain, from sorting mail to doing lockouts to logging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She provided great insight to all the questions that I asked and put her own personal spin on each
question to make it more heartfelt. She drilled hard on knowing your residents and seeing what they

determine who my residents truly are. However, there were a few questions that she was unable to ask,
and that was understandable because they were broad topics, such as what I can expect with my unit at
the beginning of the year? . The best answer she provided me was that it truly depends on who exactly
is in my unit and what each individual s personality is like. Lastly, she also connected to her personal
development as an RA and how that has affected her greatly with her academic studies as well as
caused her to become and RA. Her sharing her insight on her background on being an RA really
opened my eyes about becoming an RA in the fall. With the information being administered to me, I
have a better understanding on the roles and responsibilities an RA has to

The Scarlet Letter Essay
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is a great piece of literature. It explores problems in society
that still occur today. It is fascinating to see how the Puritans punished adultery then and the lack of
punishment of adultery in our society now. It shows how all the characters affect Hester and what
everyone does in the community. It shows that no one is exempt from any type of crime in that town.
In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, he analyzes the characters of Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale
and Pearl.
One of the main characters in The Scarlet Letter is Hester Prynne. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester is

declaring her to speak and give Pearl a father. She still refuses to speak and says, I will not speak! And
my child must seek a heavenly Father; she shall never know an earthly one! (Hawthorne 68).
While she is in this cottage and Pearl is getting older, she starts a job as a seamstress in her home. Her

Production Management Essay
The process which combines and transforms various resources used in the production/operations
subsystem of the organization into value added product/services in a controlled manner as per the
policies of the organization, is the definition of Production/operations management. Consequently, it is
that part of an organization, this part is involved in the transformation of a range of inputs, like men,
material, machines, information and capital, into the required (products/services), with the requisite
quality level. The group of correlated management activities, that are engaged in producing particular
products, is called as production management. Using the same concept but extended to services
management, then the corresponding set of management activities is named as operations
management. It s could also be defined as all those business functions that perform the doings of
planning, organizing, leading and controlling the resources needed to produce an organization s goods
and services, in order to generate value. It includes managing people, equipment, technology,
information and many others resources. All parts of the organization are operations.

A Telephone Call Dorothy Parker Analysis
A Telephone Call by Dorothy Parker Dorothy Parker was born in 1893 at her parents summer home in
New Jersey. Unfortunately, her childhood was very rough. Her mother and her step mother died when
Parker was still a child. She attended a Catholic grammar school, but ended her formal education by
the time she was fourteen years of age. In her late teenage years another catastrophe hit, her uncle was
on the notorious Titanic ship that sunk and he did not make it. Parker s series of unfortunate events did
not finish, her father passed away a year later. Parker sold her first poem to Vanity Fair and her first
collection of poetry Enough Rope was published in 1926 and became a best seller. She later worker
for Vogue when she was twenty two years old. She wrote poems for newspapers and magazines while
she worked for Vogue, however she joined Vanity Fair to work as a drama critic later on. The same
year she became a drama critic, she married a stockbroker which lasted about ten years (Poets.org).
Her marriage, however, was quite turbulent and rocky. As an adult, Parker suffered severe depression
and alcoholism. These issues led her to several suicide attempts that she thankfully survived. After her
failed first marriage, she married an actor writer in 1934. This marriage lasted for thirteen years before
both sides decided to divorce, but they remarried three years later. As if Parker had enough tragedies
in her life, her husband died of an overdose and Parker died at the ripe

John Paul II Essays
JOHN PAUL II
JOHN PAUL II was the first non Italian pope since 1523, whose energetic, active approach to his
office, unprecedented world travel, and firm religious conservatism have enhanced the importance of
the papacy in both the Roman Catholic church and the non Catholic world. The pope is also the head
of the independent state of Vatican City.
Born Karol Wojty³a on May 18, 1920, in Wadowice, Poland, he studied poetry and drama at the
University of Kraków. During World War II he worked in a stone quarry and in a chemical factory
while preparing for the priesthood. Ordained in 1946, he earned a doctorate in theology at Rome s
Angelicum Institute in 1948. Until he became auxiliary bishop of Kraków in 1958, he was a university

Despite recurrent health problems in the 1990s, John Paul maintained an active schedule. In
September 1993 he traveled to the Baltic republics, the first papal visit to countries of the former
Soviet Union. His journey to Lebanon in May 1997, to give his support to the Christian minority and
to heal religious divisions there, was followed by a visit to Brazil in October. On a five day visit to
Cuba in January 1998, he denounced U.S. trade sanctions against that country and pressed Fidel
Castro s government to release political prisoners and ease restrictions on religious and political rights.
He also pressed Nigeria on human rights issues during a three day visit two months later; while there,
John Paul beatified a Nigerian priest. Emphasizing a central theme of John Paul s papacy, that of
Jewish Christian reconciliation, the Vatican issued a statement in mid March apologizing to Jews for
the Church s failure to take decisive action against Nazi Germany; the document received a mixed
reception from Jewish groups, in part because it defended the actions of Pope Pius XII during the
Holocaust. Concerned with the mission of Roman Catholicism in the Americas and the problem of
increased Protestant proselytism in Latin America, the pope visited Saint Louis, Mo., and Mexico City
in January 1999. In June of that year, in the spirit of strengthening ties with the Orthodox church, the

Procon Nuclear
The article Is Nuclear Power Safe for Humans and the Environment on ProCon presents both sides of
the argument whether nuclear power is safe or if it is not safe. The article is good at remaining neutral
by having a similar amount of pro and con sources. Each source has been ranked by how much
credibility the source has. The least credible being a one star, while the most credible sources have
three stars. This article also presents general references, which are statements that are not clearly pro
or con. These general references mostly state facts or answer frequently asked questions on the issue.
The first general reference on ProCon is from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commision. This reference
states how much radiation a nuclear power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the con side, ProCon has seven points, fours of which have earned ProCon s expert rating. The
first expert, Jeffrey Patterson brings up the fact that nuclear material can be used for more than just
power plants. In Patterson s point he mentions the use of the material as a devastating weapon. He
questions whether or not humans can be trusted to use nuclear material only for good, not as a
weapon. Helen Caldicott goes against previous claims that nuclear power plants release miniscule
amounts of radiation. Caldicott claims that nuclear power plants are lying about being emission free
and that they actually release millions of curies (the standard unit of radioactivity measurement)
annually. Jim Riccio, a member of Greenpeace believes that every reactor in the US should be shut
down because that is the best way to avoid the next nuclear accident in the United States.
In conclusion, ProCon provides a great article that remains neutral by stating both pros and cons on
the argument. The website also has a good way of telling which sources have the most insight versus
others. Even though the article may have more pro arguments, it makes up for this by providing a
higher percentage of experts on the con side. Finally, the article also uses its general references to give
the reader brief background information that is valuable when reading each

Songlyrics In The Figurative Language In Literature
Figurative language in the world of literature is language that uses words or expressions with a deep
meaning that is different from the normal meaning of words and expressions. In the world of literature
many writers and poets use figurative language to grab their audience attention. Figurative language is
very common in poetry, lyrics, nonfiction writing and prose pieces. In this particular essay I would be
discussing and analyzing different songlyrics that contain figures of speech and how effective these
different figures of speech make the songs popular. In the figurative language we have different
figures of speech. A figure of speech is a word or phrase that has different meaning than the actual
meaning is a way writers used to exaggerate feelings and emotions. There are several figures of
speech such as a hyperbole, personification, metaphor, simile and onomatopoeia. Each of these figures
of speech all have different functions they play in the world of writing. Figures of speech are not used
to exaggerate language, but to also cause a moment of excitement and intensity when reading. The
majority of these figures of speech provide the writing with a more concise and clarifications of what
the author, singer, writer or poet is trying to share with their particular audience. For instance, let s
take a look at several songs that contain figures of speech. For example in the song Mean by Taylor
Swift is singing about how someone s words could be painful and

Also they are important to this life or to the greek people they need to get inspiration because she is
the protector of heroic poems and art. What is unique about her is that she is the one people need for to
get people going. One moral was learned from the story that if you need the inspiration to do a poem
or a art you need to pray for
Calliope.
Puga3
The moral idea of this story is that you should pray for calliope because she can change your way of
thinking. She is the goddess of music, art and she can inspire people like she did to Homer with the
odyssey. People came up with this story because they had a believe that they were not the only ones.
That also counts for the people in other nations because of globalization. Were all the people spread
their culture to other countries and migration come along were the people mix. And bind culture
together that s why they came up with this myths. What i think this story s exist today is because it
were they come from it is their belief as well as their culture. And where they come from for them it s
an important piece of history and pop culture. Another thing it could be is that its history and we have

  • 2. Example Of Predictive Policing The role of research within the criminal justice system is aimed towards reducing criminal activity in a potentially popular crime area. law enforcement agencies do this is through a number of ways. One of them is predictive policing. Predictive policing refers to the use of mathematical, predictive and analytical techniques in law enforcement to identify potential criminal activity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_policing). Predictive policing works with situational awareness and anticipation of human behavior, resulting in the development or strategies to prevent criminal activity. How does this work, we ask? well its simple, its starts with data collection, this comes from the analyzation of repeat offenders, repeat victims, and locations or types of targets. This data is then analyzed to obtain an understanding of criminal activity trends. The law enforcement agencies make a prediction based on data provided more officers or specific task forces would be inserted into designated high crime areas. The data is reevaluated to see if the methods used are effective, if not they will gather more data and create a plan that works, crime can not be completely stopped but it can be ... This book goes through the life story of Steve Jobs, Co founder of Apple. A main focus of this book is that Steve thought very weirdly. Mike Scott says in the book, He likes to fly around like a hummingbird at ninety miles per hour. (Blumenthal 81) When Jobs walked into the Atari offices with the intent to get hired, he refused to leave until he was, and it worked. • 4. Relationship Between Orthodontic And Periodontics The term synergy refers to two or more agents acting together to create an effect greater than that predicted by knowing only the separate effects of the individual agents. This definition is applicable to the classic relationship between orthodontic and periodontics specialties in treating patients.1 An Interdisciplinary approach is often necessary to treat complex dental problems in our patients and the example is ortho perio inter relation. A desire to improve dentofacial appearance has been found to be the primary motivating factor for seeking treatment in adults. Plaque is a major etiologic factor in the development of periodontal disease. Results from past animal studies done in dentitions with reduced periodontium showed that in the absence of plaque, orthodontic forces and tooth movements do not induce gingivitis. The orthodontic bands, brackets and wires compromises the self cleansing property of the dentition which further contribute to the development of gingival inflammation. Gingivitis and gingival over growth appear to be the main short term effects of orthodontic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In adult patients, the loss of teeth or periodontal support can result in pathological migration of teeth involving either a single tooth or a group of teeth. This may result in the development of a midline diastema or spacing between the teeth with or without incisal proclination, rotation or tipping of bicuspids and molars with the collapse of the posterior occlusion and decreasing vertical dimension. Orthodontic treatment either helps to correct these problems, or it helps to prevent them from progressing further. The main reasons cited to justify the provision of orthodontic treatment are improvement of facial and dental aesthetics with dental health and function. • 5. Chaucer s The General Prologue Essay Chaucer s The General Prologue Chaucer the pilgrim starts out The General Prologue with detailed descriptions of each pilgrim as he views them. When Chaucer the pilgrim arrives at the Pardoner, he becomes very focused on his physical appearance and what is seems to be missing. There is something odd about this Pardoner and Chaucer the pilgrim can t seem to grasp just what that is. He describes that the Pardoner is all on fire to do is job, just arriving from Rome (Bretful of pardon, come from Rome al hoot). However, his eagerness to Pardon those for God does not help his physical appearance in any respect. Chaucer the pilgrim describes his voice as that of a high pitched goat and points out that he has no facial hair and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Putting together his femininely smooth, boyish appearance with the neutered animal pushes the emphasis on the Pardoner s ambiguous sexuality. This description of the Pardoner through Chaucer the pilgrim s eyes reaffirms the other pilgrims idea of him. His character is that of a gentle yet pompous boy, who spends much time on his own appearance, especially his hair. The Pardoner seems to attempt to market himself as a young bachelor in front of his fellow travelers but the attempt fails miserably. When he interrupts the Wife of Bath s prologue to say, I m getting married soon, tell me what to do to find a good wife, he further alienates himself from the group instead of redeeming himself as a funny person. His interruption comes off more as a need for others to see him as desirable by a female. Another odd quality of his character is his confession of his own sinfulness. The Pardoner commits this grievous rhetorical fault in trying to gain their pride. The other characters don t need to announce, These are my sins, because we find out through their story what that character is like. However, the Pardoner has to announce his sins in hope of finding a connection with the other pilgrims, for his story does not explain his character at all. In fact, it revolts his fellow travelers because the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mexican society is composed by different diversities of Indigenism and of high social groups that forms two different types of Mexico such as the Mexico Profundo and the Imaginary Mexico which are different worlds that are interpreted as Mesoamerican and European civilizations. Before and after the Mexican Independence, the process from the pre Columbian time to a modern world in Mexico, had been a complex movement, since there were battles, slavery, cultures, customs, democracy and struggles containing different experiences that lead to what makes Mexico contemporary, hence; through the historical erasure, and the people who resist colonization since the beginning of colonialism, it created a Mexico Profundo ... • 9. Johnny Byron In Jerusalem In Jerusalem, Johnny Byron is portrayed as an evil entity, compared throughout the play to ogres, dragons, wolves and an outsider on the fringes of society. This could be interpreted as Johnny being a monster, a character from a fairy tale full of magic that lures in innocent children for their rites of passage and possible downfall. However, this could be seen as an unfair interpretation of Byron due to suggestions of other more positive beings like the magic of the Romany blood and a modern day Peter Pan. The fact that he s in the forest and the fringes of society also alludes to Byron being an omniscient being. It shows Byron in a positive light because of the escape he offers to the characters and the magic of the woods and what could be considered the Green World. History Of Tcm And Traditional Chinese Medicine HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME Jacqueline Anne Clinkard CCATCCM TCM Reflexology HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME Ancient China has a history of foot therapy; in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the feet have held symbolical importance for both spiritual and physical well being for many centuries in the Orient. Many Civilizations have practiced Reflexology. Evidence of this has been documented on four continents, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The most common theory is that the earliest form of reflexology originated in China as much as 5,000 years ago. Part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese Reflexology is the ancient art of working pressure points on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to different parts of the body. The Chinese are also known to have used Reflexology in conjunction with acupuncture. Dr. Wong Wei, a Chinese Doctor in the fourth century BC evidently used to position acupuncture needles in the patient s bodies and then apply very firm pressure with his thumbs to the soles of their feet. This pressure was maintained for several minutes until the desired therapeutic effects were achieved. Dr. Wong Wei maintained that as the pressure was applied and held healing energy was released into the patient s body. Reflexology traveled across India, Japan, Asia and China. Why You Should Know Your Clothes Come From Essay This piece entitled Why You Should Know Where Your Clothes Come From is one published by a niche sustainable fashion and lifestyle online magazine called Who What Where. It sets out to do just what the title promised by trying to educate readers about the importance of knowing the process by which their clothing is made and distributed. In order to achieve this task the author, Jessica Schiffer, interviewed Maxine Bédat, the co founder of Zady, an increasingly popular sustainable fashion and lifestyle brand. Together they assessed the current state of fast fashion, the large and frantically growing market for clothing and accessory items, as well as the popular mega chains that fuel this system. • 19. Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament Matthew is the first Gospel in the New Testament and is often considered to be the bridge between the Old Testament and the New Testament. It was once thought to have been the first written Gospel because of it being placed before all others, but that belief is not widely held (Hahn, n.d.). Just like much of the rest of the Bible, no one is truly sure who the author or authors of the Gospel of Matthew really were (Hahn, n.d.). While is it generally thought that Matthew, one of the Apostles of Jesus, was the author of the Gospel of Matthew the only clear historical data that we have to substantiate this comes from the Bishop of Hierapolis(BLB, n.d). Papias was the Bishop in Phrygia around the 2nd century who collected information concerning the bible through oral methods. Because of this, there is some doubt as to the credibility of the Bishop s sources ( Papias , n.d) Matthew is known also as Levi in the bible and was often called Matthew, the tax collector ( Matthew , n.d.). Matthew was called on by Jesus when he was seen at a tax collection booth and was told to join by Jesus (Matthew 9:9). It was at this point that Matthew left his position as a tax collector, or publican, to become an Apostle of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Matthew was the fifth of the twelve original disciples of Jesus which can be ascertained by reading the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew and in it, chapter four describes how Jesus walk through the land asking those he chose to follow ... Why Libraries And Art Museums Serve The World It means knowing exactly what your institution stands for, how we want to distinguish who we are, how do we want to deliver the very best kind of result, cost effectively to the constituents that we serve. In that sense, competitiveness is really important. It advances distinctiveness, when it is done well, in its control. Finally, I think all of us have a responsibility, and especially you guys, for thoughtful advocacy for the core value of what our institutions represent. Why do libraries and art museums serve the world in fundamentally important ways? In much the same way one might argue why liberal education and the humanities are important. There are core skills that we all know, that those experiences in libraries, art museums, and so forth, help students to develop and that contribute to the world in deep and meaningful ways. Foundational skills of, visual analysis, written communication, and all of those things that go into being a thoughtful being that can make good decisions. Rational approaches to reasoning. All of those things, education helps us to advance and whatever one goes on to do when they graduate. Those skills will serve them well, there is no question.
