European Exploration Benefits
In my opinion, the benefits of the European exploration did not outweigh its consequences. One
reason why the benefits did not outweigh the consequences is the Native American population.
Another reason the benefits did not outweigh is because of the Columbian Exchange. Columbus
also did not stand up to his promises. Those are some of the reasons why the benefits did not
outweigh the consequences. The first reason why the benefits did not outweigh the consequences is
the Native American population. The population decreased starting from 1500 1650. The
population decreased because the European people killed them with smallpox. The population of
the Native Americans helped the benefits not outweigh from its consequences. Another

HIV Infections in African American Males Essay
HIV infections in African American Males have been a national growing problem since the early
1990 s. According to CDC, in the United States, there are more than 1 million people living with
HIV. 48 percent are afro American males between the ages 13 44(CDC, 2007). It is estimated that
around 1 million people in the United States will be diagnose with HIVin the up coming year with
the lifetime risk of becoming infected is 1 in 16 for black males (CDC,2007). However, there is
growing concern about the disproportionate increase of HIV among adolescent African American
males ages 13 19. These adolescent males count for 37 percent of the cases, which double their
representation in their general population. Although, Poverty is a major... Show more content on

Alexander Calder
Alexander Calder was one of the most innovative and original American artists of the twentieth
century. In 1926, Calder arrived in Paris and devoted himself to a project called the Circus that
occupied him for over five years. This contains characters and animals made out of wire, scraps
of cloth, wood, cork, labels, bits of scrap metal and pieces of rubber. Calder transported his little
theater in suitcases and performed it for his friends. During his performances, Calder invented
ways to simulate the flight of birds: These are little bits of white paper, with a hole and slight
weight on each one, which flutter down several variously coiled thin steel wires which I jiggle so
that they flutter down like dovesВ… (Alexander Calder, An... Show more content on

Calder also cut fantastic animals from sheet metal, creating La vache and Elephant (both 1970)

Calder also drew caricatures and illustrations for various periodicals and designed toys. These
experiences enhanced Calder s works. In 1926 he published Animal Sketching, a textbook to
teach drawing to beginners; he explored wood sculpture, creating The Horse (1928), and he
made bronze castings, such as The Cat (1930). His wire sculptures, such as the four Josephine
Bakers, the heads Edgar Varese and Fernand Leger, Acrobats, and Brass Family, were his new
generation of works. Calder s sculptures prove that he had observed and learned from Mondrian,
Pablo Gargollo, Julio Gonzalez, Laslo Mohly Nagy, Roman Clemens, Naum Gabo, and Antoine
Pevsner. Little Ball with Counterweight (1931), Cruise/Universe (1931), and Spherique I/The
Pistil (1930) were linear sculptures, which extended his creation of wire portraits. During World
War II, Calder reached his artistic maturity, creating works that made him famous throughout the

others. He has a unique style that catches the eye of the viewer. Out of all the artists that I have

Religion And The Influence Of Karnak Temple
Ancient Egypt was a golden age in the human history timeline. The incredible wealth, architecture,
and religion held a key part in developing modern day society and contributed to the construction
of many other eras s including the Roman Empire and affected the Greek civilisation tremendously
(MAAT, 2017). The extravagance of the era echoes throughout history and creates a base of
knowledge that many modern day practices follow. Set on the banks of the Nile in Thebes, Karnak
Temple is the epiphany of the power the Egyptians possessed. As one of the largest religious
temples in the world, Karnak Temple covers around 200 acres of temples, pillars, lakes and
gardens. (Discovering Egypt, 2017). This place of worship shows the grip that religion held on
civilisation throughout the vast Egyptian empire.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the complex was never fully finished, the additions constructed to the Temple that began
with Senuseret 1 show the major effect of religion on the empire. Karnak s significance comes
from the rich history engraved into the stone. From stories of battles and pharaohs to gods and
wishes of good luck that are inscribed into the sandstone. (Karnak Temple, 2017). This proves the
significance of Karnak temple by focusing on the power of religion in ancient Egypt. Furthermore,
the effect the gods and the religion had on the way pharaohs ruled and the effect it had on politics,
the sway it had in everyday life and the civilians, and the advancements it held in architectural
importance all proves the significance of the Karnak Temple. Therefore, despite the ruination of

One challenging that consultees might find could be the lack of multicultural knowledge, for
example, even though most of the Hispanic population might speaks and understands enough

In addition, the lack of supervision and family members cooperation and support for their family

Empathy In To Kill A Mockingbird
How The Author s Message is Portrayed to the Reader by the Development of Jem and Scout
Upon being brought up in a white Christian household, it becomes increasingly difficult for one to
empathize with the other types of people. The Ewells, African Americans, and the Cunninghams
are the three groups that are degraded by the upper white class of Maycomb, Alabama. In the book
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Jem and Scout get the opportunity to go to an African
American church, invite a Cunningham to their house, and witness a court trial. This in turn
contributes to the better understanding of the others. Harper Lee s message to the reader says
that it is necessary for one to have empathy so that society can work together and have a
harmonious lifestyle. To Kill a Mockingbird explores the different forms of discrimination that
are seen throughout Maycombian society. There are four different kinds of folks in the
world...ordinary kind [whites], there s the kind like Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like
the Ewells down at the dump, and the [blacks] (226). The level of status determines one s respect
in society as well as how one is treated and perceived. The higher up one is ranked means that the
level of hatred for others is increased; as whites don t like the Cunninghams, the Cunninghams don
t like the Ewells, and the Ewells hate and despise colored folks (226). Seeing this has made Jem
and Scout realize that they are lucky that they live in a Christian

Claude Monet s The Impressionist Era
Born in Paris in 1840, Claude Monet would later become a leading artist in the Impressionist era.
At a young age, Monet had a passion for nature and art and in 1859, Monet began to study art in
Paris. Here he met many artists such as Bazille, Sisley, and Renoir. Monet practiced painting en
plein air or moving from inside the studios to painting outside in the open. Embodying the
Impressionist era in 1873, Monet painted Impression, Sunrise , showing many characteristics that
define Impressionismand Monet s painting style (Figure 1). The painting shows lax, bold, and
precise brush strokes moving away from the previously blended and even style of earlier eras.
Monet uses; cool purples, blues, bright oranges, and yellows show the effect of the natural light and
capture the moment and the feeling of the sunrise. In later years, Monet focused mostly on
landscapes which, today are notably Monet s most famous works.
Pierre Auguste Renoir was born in France in 1841 and like Monet was also a leading artist in the
Impressionist art movement. After moving to Paris between 1844 to 1846, Renoir began working
as a porcelain painter painting designs onto dishes and china. In 1862, Renoir started studying art in
Paris and here he met Claude Monet, as well as Bazille and Sisley (). Similar to Monet, Renoir also
practiced en plein air. In Renoir s early works, he would paint figures, mostly women, and used
bright colors with short disconnected brush strokes. Renoir s Dance at le

Kristen Monroe tells the story of Irene, a Polish nurse compelled to hide Jews as she had close
childhood friendships with many Jewish girls, and had witnessed suffering in the ghettos. Irene
instead likened the Germans, not the Jews, to cockroaches. In contrast, Joanna Michlic has

Semelin, who cites a banality of good in contrast to Hannah Arendt s often quoted banality of evil

of common humanity. The belief in charity, hospitality and the sanctity of life taught in the Polish

Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo
Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to
our ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into
our critical reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but
also posed questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we
move from the Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an
aesthetic that demands some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in
Johnson s emphasis on the idea of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a
polarity of sorts in some of the texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from
Spitzer s essay, has prompted my thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this
concept throughout. In Luis de GГіngoras Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and
the degrading vision. Sor Juana s Primero sueГ±o takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes
the body, and on a voyage of the internal universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping
of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and
elements, yet conjugates this with often time very un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological.
I am eager to see how these polarities manifest themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama
Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but

Analysis Of George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four ( 1984 )...
Throughout the novels, we see both authors presenting the consequences of a controlling
regime, and the severe dystopia that came about due to the political and social oppression which
was taking place across Europe and USA. Whilst both books were being written, Orwell and
Dick were facing the threat of Communism taking over the world. In 1949, Orwell published
Nineteen Eighty Four (1984), and the world was in turmoil, it was a war stricken society filled
with death and disappointment. Orwell s futuristic vision of society immediately tapped into the
fear and uncertainty that was so prevalent at the time. Dick who wrote his book 14 years later
than Orwell and Dick uses The Man In the High Castle (HC) as a foreshadowing of what could
have happened, if the Nazis had of won the war. Both the authors present an obviously
controlling society to the reader, which results in rebellion and exposing the flaws in the
system. Both of these books ask the reader many different questions, not only about the
endangerment of the future, but also, what it s like to live in such a controlling society. The
presence of spies and secret rebellions show the struggles the regimes come under; interestingly
both Orwell and Dick show that as quickly as a regime can be created it can also be destroyed. In
these texts it is clear to see that a controlling society causes the behaviour of people to change. I
1984 the behaviour of these people gets worse and worse, but in HC, the changes in behavior

is also a poem worth reading. Another poem that I believe is worth reading is Aunt Jennifer s
Tigers by Adrienne Rich. In Rich s poem, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers , the speaker describes Aunt
Jennifer s tapestry about tigers, more specifically drawing attention to the tiger s fearlessness,
and how Aunt Jennifer wishes that she could be as strong and fearless as the tigers. Also, Aunt
Jennifer feels that due to her marriage to the Uncle, she prevented herself from truly living her
life and felt as if the marriage trapped her and stopped her from finding true happiness. For
example the quote, Aunt Jennifer s tigers prance across a screen,/Bright topaz denizens of a world

The Effects Of Psychological Counseling On Pregnant Women...
The Poster session was very informative, it had various topics that had information on relevant
health issues. One the posters that caught my attention was To explore the impact of
psychological counseling on pregnant women who are at high risk for carrying a fetus with
down syndrome by Fatima Riaz. The aim of that study was to research the impact of
psychological counseling on pregnant women who were 35 years old or above which are at a
high risk of having a child born with Down syndrome. The objective was to minimize the anxiety
and psychological stress mothers endure after receiving those abnormal test results. One of the
things I personally learned was that its an issue that is indeed relevant, I was told by the presenter
that 95% of pregnant women terminate their pregnancy once they are informed through screening
that their child will be born with Down Syndrome.
The other poster presentation that caught my attention was Evaluating parents perception of the
effects of dental sealants on children from ages 3 12 years by Zarmina Sajjad. The objective of
this study was to explore parent s knowledge of dental sealants as a preventive care in children. I
knew beforehand that dental caries is a chronic disease that could affect everyone. However, I didn

a shorter amount of time, which leads to a smaller force (Video). The video showed us that when

The Painting Square At La Trinite
The painting Square at La TrinitГ© (Le Square de La TrinitГ©) (1875) by Pierre Auguste Renoir
is located at the RISD museum in Providence, RI. This is an oil painting on canvas, surrounded by
an ornate gold frame. Square at La TrinitГ© is a pastel colored landscape scene with nature, figures
and buildings in the background. The main focus of the paintingis the two people in the right hand
corner, one a female and the other a male who are strolling through a lively garden. During the 19th
centuryimpressionist artists wanted to capture life as they saw it happening. Another artist who had
a similar style to Renoir was Monet who painted works such as Beach at Trouville (1870) where he
painted his wife sitting on the beach taking part in middle class leisure. Renoir s work demonstrates
the impressionist technique important to the 19th century, evident by the way he captured middle
class leisure in a modern subject matter.
In Square at La TrinitГ© there are very prominent vertical lines. The two figures in the right
corner of the painting are vertical figures and are what the viewer is initially drawn to when first
looking at the image. Another really distinct vertical line is the tree on the left hand side of the
painting. That tree stands out in particular because of its dark color compared to the right side of
the painting. The buildings in the background are made up of both horizontal and vertical lines.
The roof and windows in particular are examples of horizontal lines. The

Digital Ethics
Digital ethics is important because it teaches the right as well as the wrong things to do on a
computer. It teaches people how to behave using social media, in other words, it shows people how
to be mature on the internet. With technology increasing the more users take advantage of its
efficiency. As well as manipulating technology to their advantage (Radhika. 2012).
Online users have to respect the legal agenda and act within the internets bounds using ethical,
courteous, safe productivity. The problem now with students writing papers is to determine if the
information is credibility. The Internet offers an excess amount of information, and this kind of
knowledge is coming from countless sources; reliable and unreliable (Radhika. 2012). ... Show

Internet ethical issues affect a variety of people and almost all of them today are affected in some
kind of a way. Digital ethics also teaches online users about cyber bullying which happens a lot
now. Children and adults have been victims of cyber bullying over the past years that had been lead
to horrible things (Thomas. 2011).
The digital ethics does also indicate how one persona is seen by the people looking you up
online. It is so simple to search yourself up online and have all this information about you right in
front of you. This means anyone with internet access can see your social media pages, and if that
person has a background in hacking they can figure out all personal information such as social
security numbers, credit cards, and addresses (Radhika. 2012).
Hackers get into your hard drives and sell all your personal information to the highest bidders.
Ethical hacking on the other hand is doing what regular hackers do, but the differences is that
they can do it legally with the back up of the FBI of CIA. A reason someone would do this kind of
hacking is to do either a personal background check or if you are in the FBI most wanted listen

to the increase in corruption amongst governmental official. An incident in which recently took

Mayor Bowser found private property in which the city would pay for this transitional housing

Factors Of Imperialism In Nigeria
The people of Nigeria are divided into three ethnic groups the Hausa Fulani, the Yoruba, and the
Igbo. During imperialism, Nigeria was a colony of Great Britain and ruled by indirect control.
The Hausa Fulani would govern their region with their language and Islam religion. Whereas,
the other two regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern
their own regions. When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a
Nigerian Federal State with a central government and separate governments for each of the three
regions. The Niger River Delta region was rich in mineral oil deposits and they also produced
palm oil, coffee, and tin for export. The economy of the new nation was largely dependent on
selling oil production leases to foreign companies and money earned from export of oil. Since,
each region had its own government, the politicians were focused on channeling the wealth from
the sale of oil into their own region so as to benefit themselves, their followers and their own
regions. This gave rise to competition, greed for oil money and corruption among politicians. The

Letters From The Spanish Civil War
The granting of regional autonomy to the Basque region in October 1936 proved critical in
maintaining it within the fold of the Republican cause. Some Popular Front leftists in Madrid and
Barcelona viewed the Basques with certain mistrust (Getman and Lasanowski). This shows the
administrative weakness the Republic was facing at the time. They were looking at the complete
breakdown of their rule to the nationalist and even if they did not really trust the Basques and
Catalans they knew they needed their support in the war. The support from the Catalans and
Basques was not much but they constantly provided some support. In the book Letters from the
Spanish Civil Wara young solider write about his time in the war and how Catalonia was helping
the republic. As you know, things are going well for democratic Spain, and especially important is
the step taken by Catalonia, dissolving its autonomy and becoming an integral part of Republican
Spain. This support though was mostly done in self interest in order to gain self rule. While Catalan

Franco sought military assistance from Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, and he mounted a military
drive on Madrid. The rebels quickly termed themselves Nationalists and mounted a savage
repression of their own, which was more concerted and effective than that of the Republicans and
eventually claimed even more victims (Darity). The rejection of these new changes brought by the
Republican parliament, who began to enforce these new laws on the people, led the nationalist
party to rise with the help of the church, conservatives and nobility. With the new constitution the
church had gone from being the second most powerful entity to being close to nothing under the
Second Spanish Republic. The nobility provided support to the Nationalists because they also had

The Potrayal of Nurse Ratched
Ratchet or Ratched Critic Ronald Wallace noted that Nurse Ratched is also like a ratchet
wrench she keeps her patients adjusted, but like a ratchet, a gear in the Combine, she is herself
mechanically enmeshed. Nurse Ratched is portrayed as a devious mastermind of the ward;
however, she herself is actually just a minion of the Combine. In many parts of One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest, Bromden describes Ratched as being like a machine; her systematic scheming,
and her name Ratched is similar to the word ratchet , which is a mechanical device. Because of
this, Nurse Ratched must only be considered a small part of the patients suffering because she is
only a mere tiny gear functioning in a large machine. Through Chief Bromden s... Show more

Breaking the law greatly parallels with Kesey s negative point of view about the American
government, and how it forces people to conform to something they are not. Kesey was also an
advocate for abusing substances and self experimentation; as the patients get more and more
successful in challenging the Combine, they gain magnificent amounts of confidence to abuse
drugs. Kesey was a strong advocate for individualism and self discoveration. His writing portrays
his opinion on how individuals conform by unconsciously falling to society s needs. When this
novel was written, society ostracized individuals who were thought to be abnormal or different,
and because of this societal influence, people allowed themselves to become molded into what
they thought was normal . Bibliography Kesey, Ken. One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. New

can stop working for various reasons. Repairs often need to be made on site and may take time.
Broadband services require one or more pieces of equipment at your house which you will need

Essay about Why College Athletes Should be Paid
Why College Athletes should be Paid Due to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
rules and regulations no college athlete is able to receive any compensation or endorsement while
participating in college athletics. These rules have long been challenged, however no changes
have been made by the NCAA. With universities grossing close to $200 million a year college
athletics has turned into one of the top industries in the world. The NCAA is a governing body of

market value is at $578,000 per year. So at the very least there is $567,000 per player that we
really do not know where it goes. I understand that college athletes do not deserve all the money
they bring in but if one really thinks about it there is no where else in the world of economics is
there a person that spends over forty hours a week and brings in $500,000 per year for their
institution, yet they are only compensated $11,000. The numbers do not match up. (Frommer,
2013) These numbers definitely do not match up when one takes into account coaches salaries.
The average coaching salary in NCAA division 1 basketball is a massive $1.47 million per year.
With Duke s head coach, Mike Krzyzewski, making the large sum of $7.2 million per year .
While Duke s athletic director, Kevin White, brings in close $1 million per year. After looking
over these stats, one quickly realizes why college athletes are not being paid. In 40 of the 50
states in the United States of America the highest paid public employee is not a government
official, but the head coach of a college football or basketball team. In North Carolina the average
income per household $45,570 while the tax rate is 5.8%. What this means is that on average each

the moment when King Harold was killed and the Normans gained control of England. On

The Norman Conquest had important consequences on all levels, including the linguistic one.
English phonetics, vocabulary, morphology and also syntax were influenced by French, but, despite

At the moment, the conquest probably came as a disaster for the English people, as the Normans
brought their new territory under control with systematic rigour. After the English royal family had
been destroyed in the battle, the new king established his own regime. At the time, Normandy had
an advanced feudal system of political organisation, which accelerated the establishment of
feudalism in Britain. Moreover, most of the representatives of the native nobility were eliminated
and a French speaking monarchy, aristocracy and clerical hierarchy took over. Thus, the important

Nanotechnology is the creation of functional materials, devices and systems through control of
matter at the scale of 1 100 nanometers, and the exploitation of novel properties and phenomena at

Some of the practical applications of nanotechnology today are to fabricate smaller faster
computer chips for more efficient computers, mobile phones, or navigation systems.
Nanotechnology also brought about the quantum dot laser, which enables faster
communication. Nanotechnology could be utilized by today s society in countless ways and
will revolutionize our lives. The advances in medicine would be mind boggling. Tiny robots
could detect diseases when they ve just barely begun to form, repair injuries more completely
than ever before, and even body parts with new ones. Microscopic cameras and other recording
devices would change the intelligence and security industry by enabling them to watch and
monitor like never before. We would have the luxury of carrying around huge amounts of
information; thousands of music albums and movies on tiny devices that fit in our pocket.
Nanotechnology will totally change our lives. We ll expect much more from the products we

steel. Our concept of size will change drastically; the devices we use today will seem large and
clunky. With nanotechnology, we ll expect the devices we use every day to be tiny, light, and
very efficient. If scientists are able to actually make molecular sized machines, we would no

Difference Between Online Education And Traditional Education
In this modern society, education is an essential part of human life, and thanks to technology, we
are now able to receive a proper education through the internet. For centuries the only way of
receiving a formal education was attending physically to the school, but nowadays due to
technology students are able to receive a college degree without the necessity of being physically in
the school. Online educationis becoming more common, and as a result, the studentpopulation is
dividing in two different opinions on education. Some think the traditional method is better, while
others start to believe that the modern method is the best. Although both of these are similar in
numerous ways, there are advantages and disadvantages to each one. The differences and
similarities between traditional college education and online college education are pronounced and
they merit further scrutiny.
In my opinion, what distinguishes traditional education from online education is the environment
in which the student is surrounded. In traditional education every individual has the ability to
interact and socialize with his classmates, professors, and other members of the college. The
facilities provide the mindset for the student to learn, and the easily approachable teachers which
can clear any question or doubt at the instant. While in online education the student has class
discussions and chats with his classmates, all of it is through the internet, the same applies with the
professor, if

Production Management Essay
The process which combines and transforms various resources used in the production/operations
subsystem of the organization into value added product/services in a controlled manner as per the
policies of the organization, is the definition of Production/operations management. Consequently, it
is that part of an organization, this part is involved in the transformation of a range of inputs, like
men, material, machines, information and capital, into the required (products/services), with the
requisite quality level. The group of correlated managementactivities, that are engaged in producing
particular products, is called as production management. Using the same concept but extended to
services management, then the corresponding set of management activities is named as operations
management. It s could also be defined as all those business functions that perform the doings of
planning, organizing, leading and controlling the resources needed to produce an organization s
goods and services, in order to generate value. It includes managing people, equipment, technology,
information and many others resources. All parts of the organization are operations.

The Declaration Of Independence And Its Effect On The...
During the time leading up to July 4th, 1776, the colonies were ruled by King George III.
Tyranny took hold of the colonies until Thomas Jefferson created The Declaration of
Independence. In this document Jefferson stated numerous grievances against the king and
depicted those hardships that the colonies experienced under his rule. Historians have come to
debate whether these accusations were true or exaggerated. Many historical events demonstrate
how these grievances had a negative effect on the colonies. Many of the colonies felt that laws
were passed to benefit King George III without considering the needs of the colonies. One of the
grievances noted, He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the
Consent of our legislatures. This grievance is supported by factual events that occurred during
the 1700 s. After the French War, King George III did not withdraw soldiers from the colonies.
On March 24th, 1765, Parliament passed the Quartering Act. This required the colonies to pay or
find shelter for the British Soldiers. Many of the colonies did not support this law and refused to
take part. This act was passed without the input and approval of the colonies. This is
demonstrated by New York s refusal to comply with the newly passed law due to feeling as though
they were forced. This negatively affected the colonist because soldiers were taking over their
homes and eating all the food. Due to noncooperation Parliament passed the New York Restraining

Unfortunately, canker is not the only disease growers have to worry about. Citrus greening
disease, also commonly referred to as Huanglongbing, is a much newer disease to Florida than
citrus canker. Although the bacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, has been an issue in
China since the 1900 s, it did not arrive in the US until 2005 ( Citrus Greening ). The disease is
spread through its primary vector, an insect called the Asian citrus psyllid. Symptoms, which
include yellow mottling of leaves, small, green, and misshapen fruit, and poor yields, may not
appear until several years after a tree is infected. Citrus greening is such an important issue
currently because, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, other than tree
removal, there is no effective control once a tree is infected and there is no known cure for the
disease ( Citrus Greening ). To date, revenue loss caused by citrus greening disease exceeds $3.6

Taking a Look at Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a common disease that effects more than five million women in the United
States per year. Any woman within childbearing age is at risk for this disease, but it is more
common in women in their 30s and 40s. There are a number of theories that suggest the cause of
the disease, but none of the theories have been proven. With no certainty on what causes the
disease, there is also no cure for it however the symptoms of the disease can be treated.[1]
Endometriosis derives it name from the inside lining of the uterus, which is known as the
endometrium. The disease occurs when the endometrium begins to grow in regions outside the
uterus. The most common areas affected are the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the pelvic cavity and
the outer surface of the uterus, but the disease is not restricted to these areas. In rare cases it has
even been found in the lungs and the brain. Normally, the endometrium breaks down and is
removed from the uterus via the vagina through the menstrual period. With endometriosis, the
displaced endometrium degenerates but it has no means of exit: the endometrial tissue sheds into
the body and often causes irritation, inflammation and scar tissue. [1,2] The causes of
endometriosis are still unknown, but several possible theories have been developed. Endometriosis
appears to have a familial component, caused by certain genes. It could also likely to be caused by
a compromised immune system. Another theory states that over production of the

Imagery In The Veldt
In the short story The Veldt by Ray Bradbury uses symbolism and imagery to exhibit the children,
Wendy and Peter s hatred towards their parents. Screams could hint towards a specific idea or
theory using symbolism. Although someone could argue that simple and hard to notice things like
these could prove anything, more symbols pop up in the story. Even easy to notice things, like
the lions, are overlooked. Not just symbolism is used to prove this theme. Imagery is used, maybe
not as often, but adds so much more detail to the children s anger. The sun is almost always
mentioned when anyone goes into the veldt, whether it s just the sun s presence, or it s radiating
heat. Imagery and symbolism, even if they re not obvious, play a huge part in The Veldt, and
describing the children s abomination for their parents. Symbolism is written all over inside the

sun was always visible. Nobody thinks much of it, only of it s heat. Just like the sun, Peter and
Wendy s flipped feelings for their parents are always there, but the parents are too naive to notice
their absence in their lives. Along with its visibility, the sun s heat is quite noticeable from the
moment anyone steps foot in the room. The heat is mentioned when Mr. Hadley s face begins to
feel sweaty while looking at the vultures. The extreme heat is another example of the children s
terrible feelings. The hotter the sun, the more hatred the children have been keeping bottled up
inside them. While not obvious at first, the sun can make a huge difference in the way the reader
looks at the story and it s characters, while also getting a look at the children s personal

First Session Solution Focused Brief Therapy
Lloyd, H. and Dallos, R. (2008), First session solution focused brief therapy with families who
have a child with severe intellectual disabilities: Mothers experiences and views. Journal of Family
Therapy, 30: 5 28. doi:10.1111/j.1467 6427.2008.00413.x
The purpose of this article was to explore the experiences of first sessions of families who have
children with intellectual disabilities using solution focused brief therapy (SFBT). The participants
consisted of mothers who were interviewed two weeks after the initial session. The SFBT session
was a stand alone session that was designed to assess the usefulness of the initial session. The
mothers were asked to complete the Helpful Aspects of Therapy Questionnaire after the end of the
session. Participants listened to excerpts from their therapeutic sessions that they identified as
helpful or unhelpful while completing the questionnaire. The families that participated had used
psychological services before hand in the form of special education, social, and health services.
Through the interventions there were three major themes that were identified; SFBT introduced
making the best of it , exploration of wishful thinking, and the efficacy of the therapeutic
relationship. What the authors mean by making the best it is the idea that there is no point in
dwelling on the disability and to keep moving forward. Mothers expressed that they had no choice
about their role of carer which lead to a sensation of

A Separate Peace Literary Analysis
History is said to repeat itself after great amounts of time, but could two major world events that
happened just a mere three years from each other be so similar? A Separate Peace, by John
Knowles, chronicles the story of two teenage boys, Finny and Gene, at a private school in New
England during World WarII. Their entire school life is centered around preparing for the war, but
rebellious Finny has other ideas for himself and Gene. Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck
involves two migrant workers during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression who are facing the
struggles of dealing with Lennie s disability. These two books may not seem similar in plot, but
thematically they share several aspects. In both novels, it can be seen that tragic events cause
certain characters to seek a safe place and satisfaction. For instance, Finny, from A Separate Peace,
can be observed looking for a safe place and satisfaction. There are two tragic events that lead to
Finny exemplifying a need of satisfaction from an outside source. The first of which would be
World War II as a whole; and, more specifically within the microcosm that is... Show more content

Finny from A Separae Peace is coping with breaking his leg and finding satisfaction in sports,
along with Gene who is caught up in Finny s medical crises and copes by focusing on school.
Then there is George from Of Mice and Men that is angered by all of the problems that come
with being a migrant worker during the Dust Bowl, but he always has a plan for his safe place,
which is either a thicket or his own farm. He is partners with Lennie who is also stressed over
everything in his life so he lets it out by touching objects to get distracted in the sensation of their
textures. These novels may be centered around completely different historical events, but the depth
and value to both stories are equally

Research Paper On Adele
Adele
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, but everyone knows her as Adele, was born on May 5, 1988, in
London, United Kingdom (Newkey Burden Page 1). Adele and her brother Cameron Evans
lived with their mother in London, United Kingdom. Adele s father ,Mark Evans, was not
involved in her life (Adele). Adele s father, Mark Evans and her mother got divorced when Adele
was just only three years old (Newkey Burden Page 2). Part of my course at the BRIT school was
recording lessons; she said. I used to record demos in order to pass my course. I didn t know what
to do with them (Newkey Burden Page 45/46). In 2006, Adele graduated from The Brit

genres including blues, R B, soul, rock and roll, jazz and gospel (Stingley). Etta James won six
Grammys and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 (Stingley). Back in
2009, Adele said, that James had the biggest musical influence on her career. Adele said, She
was the first time a voice made me stop what I was doing and sit down and listen (Michael). It
took over my mind and body. Adele said, Her voice was breathtaking and her songs are
reflections we all recognize in some way or another.(Vena) Adele made it clear that she was not
trying to copy Etta James style of music. Etta James is the only artist I ve ever properly believed
when I listen to her, Adele said. I feel her pain. Etta James is my favourite singer. I`ve loved her
ever since I was 15. Initially it was because I loved the way she looked the big kinda white
woman weave and her beautiful, catty eyes! But then, once I actually listened to her, though she
did not really even write any of her own songs, I found that her delivery was just so sincere that
she really could convince me she was singing directly to me. Which is something I`ve never ever
found in any other artist. (Etta) Adele said this referring to the singer Etta James. Etta James died

Analysis and Action for a Community s Health Essay
Community: Riverdale Riverdale is an upscale community in the Northwestern corner of the
Bronx bordered by the Hudson River, Broadway, the Bronx/Westchester county line and the
Harlem River. It is accessible by the BX buses 7, 9, 10, 20, the 1 the 9 train, the Bee Line 1,2 3
and the Metro North Railroad. It is also accessible by the Henry Hudson Parkway. Riverdale is
apart of Community District 8 and the 10471 zip code, which includes Kingsbridge, Marble Hill

Because of the temporary nature of construction work, it is safe to assume that it would not
disturb the entire community. Economically, Riverdale seems to be an affluent community. The
assets to the neighborhood would be the private schools, colleges, banks and various religious
centers. As for liabilities, none was present on our tour of the neighborhood. There aren t much
large chain stores like K Mart or Old Navy in Riverdale and the only ones we saw were CVS and
Eckerd. There aren t any fast food chain restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, White Castle,
etc. The shopping area is composed of ice cream parlors, art galleries, wine stores, pet shops,
flower shops, Korean stores for your Caribbean products, jewelry stores, pizza shops,
pharmacies, gift shops, etc. We saw just 2 laundromats in the area. It can be assumed that
residents here do their own laundry at their homes. We also saw a few dry cleaners on the main
road. For recreation, Riverdale residents don t have much of a variety of activities. Nearby
Riverdale is Van Courtlandt Park. Located here is a Riverdale Equestrian Centre where people
can go horseback riding. There are parks in the area such as Spuyten Duyvil Playground and
Riverdale Playground but in general, there are no recreational centers. Similar to recreational
centers, there wasn t a large number of clubs or associations. The only thing that would count as a
club was a fitness center for women. The dominant religion

One reason why the benefits did not outweigh the consequences is the Native American population. Another reason the benefits did not outweigh is because of the Columbian Exchange. The first reason why the benefits did not outweigh the consequences is the Native American population. The population decreased starting from 1500 1650. • 5. Alexander Calder Alexander Calder was one of the most innovative and original American artists of the twentieth century. In 1926, Calder arrived in Paris and devoted himself to a project called the Circus that occupied him for over five years. This contains characters and animals made out of wire, scraps of cloth, wood, cork, labels, bits of scrap metal and pieces of rubber. Calder transported his little theater in suitcases and performed it for his friends. During his performances, Calder invented ways to simulate the flight of birds: These are little bits of white paper, with a hole and slight weight on each one, which flutter down several variously coiled thin steel wires which I jiggle so that they flutter down like dovesВ… (Alexander Calder, An... In 1926 he published Animal Sketching, a textbook to teach drawing to beginners; he explored wood sculpture, creating The Horse (1928), and he made bronze castings, such as The Cat (1930). His wire sculptures, such as the four Josephine Bakers, the heads Edgar Varese and Fernand Leger, Acrobats, and Brass Family, were his new generation of works. • 6. Religion And The Influence Of Karnak Temple Ancient Egypt was a golden age in the human history timeline. The incredible wealth, architecture, and religion held a key part in developing modern day society and contributed to the construction of many other eras s including the Roman Empire and affected the Greek civilisation tremendously (MAAT, 2017). The extravagance of the era echoes throughout history and creates a base of knowledge that many modern day practices follow. Set on the banks of the Nile in Thebes, Karnak Temple is the epiphany of the power the Egyptians possessed. As one of the largest religious temples in the world, Karnak Temple covers around 200 acres of temples, pillars, lakes and gardens. (Discovering Egypt, 2017). Although the complex was never fully finished, the additions constructed to the Temple that began with Senuseret 1 show the major effect of religion on the empire. (Karnak Temple, 2017). This proves the significance of Karnak temple by focusing on the power of religion in ancient Egypt. Furthermore, the effect the gods and the religion had on the way pharaohs ruled and the effect it had on politics, the sway it had in everyday life and the civilians, and the advancements it held in architectural importance all proves the significance of the Karnak Temple. • 8. Empathy In To Kill A Mockingbird How The Author s Message is Portrayed to the Reader by the Development of Jem and Scout Upon being brought up in a white Christian household, it becomes increasingly difficult for one to empathize with the other types of people. The Ewells, African Americans, and the Cunninghams are the three groups that are degraded by the upper white class of Maycomb, Alabama. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Jem and Scout get the opportunity to go to an African American church, invite a Cunningham to their house, and witness a court trial. This in turn contributes to the better understanding of the others. Harper Lee s message to the reader says that it is necessary for one to have empathy so that society can work together and have a harmonious lifestyle. To Kill a Mockingbird explores the different forms of discrimination that are seen throughout Maycombian society. There are four different kinds of folks in the world...ordinary kind [whites], there s the kind like Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like the Ewells down at the dump, and the [blacks] (226). The level of status determines one s respect in society as well as how one is treated and perceived. The higher up one is ranked means that the level of hatred for others is increased; as whites don t like the Cunninghams, the Cunninghams don t like the Ewells, and the Ewells hate and despise colored folks (226). At a young age, Monet had a passion for nature and art and in 1859, Monet began to study art in Paris. Here he met many artists such as Bazille, Sisley, and Renoir. Monet practiced painting en plein air or moving from inside the studios to painting outside in the open. Embodying the Impressionist era in 1873, Monet painted Impression, Sunrise , showing many characteristics that define Impressionismand Monet s painting style (Figure 1). The painting shows lax, bold, and precise brush strokes moving away from the previously blended and even style of earlier eras. Because intention and motivation are notably impossible to determine, scholars have debated over the impetus for rescue; established relationships, religionor the humanistic belief we are all human beings. Pre existing relationships were commonplace and are excluded from Yad Vashem s Righteousness criteria. Kristen Monroe tells the story of Irene, a Polish nurse compelled to hide Jews as she had close childhood friendships with many Jewish girls, and had witnessed suffering in the ghettos. Irene instead likened the Germans, not the Jews, to cockroaches. In contrast, Joanna Michlic has emphasised the humanitarian desire to save innocent life. This has been backed up by Jacques Semelin, who cites a banality of good in contrast to Hannah Arendt s often quoted banality of evil suggesting that some people consider themselves connected to all human beings through the bonds of common humanity. • 13. Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to our ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into our critical reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but also posed questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we move from the Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an aesthetic that demands some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in Johnson s emphasis on the idea of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a polarity of sorts in some of the texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from Spitzer s essay, has prompted my thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this concept throughout. In Luis de GГіngoras Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and the degrading vision. Sor Juana s Primero sueГ±o takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes the body, and on a voyage of the internal universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and elements, yet conjugates this with often time very un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological. I am eager to see how these polarities manifest themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Analysis Of George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four ( 1984 )... Throughout the novels, we see both authors presenting the consequences of a controlling regime, and the severe dystopia that came about due to the political and social oppression which was taking place across Europe and USA. Whilst both books were being written, Orwell and Dick were facing the threat of Communism taking over the world. In 1949, Orwell published Nineteen Eighty Four (1984), and the world was in turmoil, it was a war stricken society filled with death and disappointment. Orwell s futuristic vision of society immediately tapped into the fear and uncertainty that was so prevalent at the time. Dick who wrote his book 14 years later than Orwell and Dick uses The Man In the High Castle (HC) as a foreshadowing of what could have happened, if the Nazis had of won the war. Both the authors present an obviously controlling society to the reader, which results in rebellion and exposing the flaws in the system. Both of these books ask the reader many different questions, not only about the endangerment of the future, but also, what it s like to live in such a controlling society. The presence of spies and secret rebellions show the struggles the regimes come under; interestingly both Orwell and Dick show that as quickly as a regime can be created it can also be destroyed. In these texts it is clear to see that a controlling society causes the behaviour of people to change. This is an oil painting on canvas, surrounded by an ornate gold frame. Square at La TrinitГ© is a pastel colored landscape scene with nature, figures and buildings in the background. The main focus of the paintingis the two people in the right hand corner, one a female and the other a male who are strolling through a lively garden. During the 19th centuryimpressionist artists wanted to capture life as they saw it happening. Another artist who had a similar style to Renoir was Monet who painted works such as Beach at Trouville (1870) where he painted his wife sitting on the beach taking part in middle class leisure. Renoir s work demonstrates the impressionist technique important to the 19th century, evident by the way he captured middle class leisure in a modern subject matter. In Square at La TrinitГ© there are very prominent vertical lines. The two figures in the right corner of the painting are vertical figures and are what the viewer is initially drawn to when first looking at the image. Another really distinct vertical line is the tree on the left hand side of the painting. That tree stands out in particular because of its dark color compared to the right side of the painting. The buildings in the background are made up of both horizontal and vertical lines. The roof and windows in particular are examples of horizontal lines. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During imperialism, Nigeria was a colony of Great Britain and ruled by indirect control. The Hausa Fulani would govern their region with their language and Islam religion. Whereas, the other two regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern their own regions. When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a Nigerian Federal State with a central government and separate governments for each of the three regions. Since, each region had its own government, the politicians were focused on channeling the wealth from the sale of oil into their own region so as to benefit themselves, their followers and their own regions. This gave rise to competition, greed for oil money and corruption among politicians. Difference Between Online Education And Traditional Education In this modern society, education is an essential part of human life, and thanks to technology, we are now able to receive a proper education through the internet. For centuries the only way of receiving a formal education was attending physically to the school, but nowadays due to technology students are able to receive a college degree without the necessity of being physically in the school. Online educationis becoming more common, and as a result, the studentpopulation is dividing in two different opinions on education. Some think the traditional method is better, while others start to believe that the modern method is the best. Although both of these are similar in numerous ways, there are advantages and disadvantages to each one. The differences and similarities between traditional college education and online college education are pronounced and they merit further scrutiny. In my opinion, what distinguishes traditional education from online education is the environment in which the student is surrounded. In traditional education every individual has the ability to interact and socialize with his classmates, professors, and other members of the college. The facilities provide the mindset for the student to learn, and the easily approachable teachers which can clear any question or doubt at the instant. While in online education the student has class discussions and chats with his classmates, all of it is through the internet, the same applies with the professor, if ... Tyranny took hold of the colonies until Thomas Jefferson created The Declaration of Independence. In this document Jefferson stated numerous grievances against the king and depicted those hardships that the colonies experienced under his rule. Historians have come to debate whether these accusations were true or exaggerated. Many historical events demonstrate how these grievances had a negative effect on the colonies. Many of the colonies felt that laws were passed to benefit King George III without considering the needs of the colonies. One of the grievances noted, He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. This grievance is supported by factual events that occurred during the 1700 s. After the French War, King George III did not withdraw soldiers from the colonies. On March 24th, 1765, Parliament passed the Quartering Act. This required the colonies to pay or find shelter for the British Soldiers. Many of the colonies did not support this law and refused to take part. This act was passed without the input and approval of the colonies. This is demonstrated by New York s refusal to comply with the newly passed law due to feeling as though they were forced. This negatively affected the colonist because soldiers were taking over their homes and eating all the food. Due to noncooperation Parliament passed the New York Restraining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, canker is not the only disease growers have to worry about. Citrus greening disease, also commonly referred to as Huanglongbing, is a much newer disease to Florida than citrus canker. Although the bacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, has been an issue in China since the 1900 s, it did not arrive in the US until 2005 ( Citrus Greening ). The disease is spread through its primary vector, an insect called the Asian citrus psyllid. Symptoms, which include yellow mottling of leaves, small, green, and misshapen fruit, and poor yields, may not appear until several years after a tree is infected. Citrus greening is such an important issue currently because, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, other than tree removal, there is no effective control once a tree is infected and there is no known cure for the disease ( Citrus Greening ). • 40. Taking a Look at Endometriosis Endometriosis is a common disease that effects more than five million women in the United States per year. Any woman within childbearing age is at risk for this disease, but it is more common in women in their 30s and 40s. There are a number of theories that suggest the cause of the disease, but none of the theories have been proven. With no certainty on what causes the disease, there is also no cure for it however the symptoms of the disease can be treated.[1] Endometriosis derives it name from the inside lining of the uterus, which is known as the endometrium. The disease occurs when the endometrium begins to grow in regions outside the uterus. The most common areas affected are the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the pelvic cavity and the outer surface of the uterus, but the disease is not restricted to these areas. In rare cases it has even been found in the lungs and the brain. Normally, the endometrium breaks down and is removed from the uterus via the vagina through the menstrual period. With endometriosis, the displaced endometrium degenerates but it has no means of exit: the endometrial tissue sheds into the body and often causes irritation, inflammation and scar tissue. [1,2] The causes of endometriosis are still unknown, but several possible theories have been developed. Endometriosis appears to have a familial component, caused by certain genes. It could also likely to be caused by a compromised immune system. Another theory states that over production of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not just symbolism is used to prove this theme. Imagery is used, maybe not as often, but adds so much more detail to the children s anger.
