Gun Control And The Right State Of Mind
Gun control has been one of main debating topics for years. This particular subject is discussed
frequently between our presidential candidates. How safe do citizens feel in the community knowing
that it is not hard to obtain a concealed handgun and/or a handgun license? Citizens in some
communities have to worry more about their lives rather than bills. It should never have to be that way
for anyone. Some people are not in the right state of mind to have the privilege to carry a firearm.
Sanity level of others should not be an issue within the communities across the nation. The
government has the power to establish a stricter process when applying for a gun license. Those
wanting a license to have a handgun should go through a background check, which is already
enforced, and a psychological evaluation. In the past, the United States has had numerous cases that
involved gun violence and insanity. Setting a more rigorous foundation for issuing out firearms will
better the country tremendously insuring the safety of the citizens, requiring more than a background
check, and having a psychological as the last step to be granted the privilege to carry a firearm. The
battle between gun control laws versus the people have been around for decades. The first attempt to
prevent gun control was in 1671 in the English Parliament. This document did not apply to individuals
that hunted. Throughout time, people continued to hunt animals along with other humans. The Second
Amendment soon

Malignant Neoplasm Essay
What is a Malignant Neoplasm?
A malignant neoplasm is a tumor composed of poorly differentiated cells. Neo means new and plasm
refers to cells. The word neoplasm refers to abnormal overgrowth of cells rather than healthy new cell
growth. It is often used interchangeably with words such as tumor and cancer. It is a cancerous tumor
that grows, proliferates, infiltrates and metastasizes to other parts of the body. It can spread to
surrounding tissues, through lymph nodes or through the bloodstream. It often requires surgical
removal. If it is left untreated, it can result in death.

The tumor becomes larger and may possibly invade surrounding tissues or spread to other parts of the
body via the lymphatic system or the bloodstrem. If a vital organ such as the brain or liver or multiple
organs are extensively damaged by the cancer, then death will occur. The treatments available for
treating malignant cancer include surgery and chemotherapy. However, once metastasis has occurred,
the prognosis is poor and treatment is very complicated.
Some of the main types of cancer are described below:
Leukemia This affects the tissues that make blood, such as the bone marrow. Large numbers of
abnormal cells are produced in the bone marrow, which then spread to the bloodstream
Carcinoma This begins in the skin or tissues that line organs.
Lymphoma Originates in the immune system
Sarcoma This develops in blood vessels, muscle, cartilage, bone or other types of connective tissue

Transit Of Venus Research Paper
A transit of Venus occurs when the planet Venus passes in between the earth and the sun making it
visible for us humans to see a small round disk moving slowly at a particularly slow rate across the
sun.
The components to this are the Transit of venus
Transit s such as the ones that have been viewed in 1874 and 2012 are very rare nowadays and will
only occur every 243 years with a pair of transits that are 8 years apart from each other(1874 1882)
(2004 2012), making it a very special occasion for scientists and observers to discover more
astronomy research in the 2012 transit. The reasoning to why it takes a long time for the next transit to
occur is because at every 584 days Venus is not directly aligned in between the Earth and the Sun as it
is positioned either below or above the blazing star. This event causes the light rays to be undisturbed
allowing the star to produce it s light over the earth, giving the reason why it takes a very long time for
the next transit to occur in December 2117. Transits are also known to have a similar concept to Solar
Eclipses. They are both aligned in between the earth and the sun (Inferior Conjunction) during their
particular events. The moon covers the sun quickly at approximately 7:30 minutes and is appeared to
be larger than the circular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a transit occurs it gives scientists sourceful information making it a huge deal as it is a rare
event occurring in the next 243 years. This proves that the transit of venus isn t just a black circular
disk going across the sun, because it actually has a purpose to us and the earth. During the 2012
transit, scientists discovered new measurements of the diameter of Venus and comparing them with
the measurements that the astronomers/scientists are familiar with, allowing further research on

Leadership Styles in Nursing
The enclosed information in this paper is based on a Leadership Style Assessment that was printed
from a dynamic leadership handbook. I will discuss the results of the leadership style assessment, why
or why not I agree with the results and which type of leadership makes the best or worst leader. I will
also review a past nursing supervisor s leadership style and state whether or not his style was
effective.
Current Leadership Style The results of my Leadership Style Assessment was a Participatory Leader. I
believe that the results were accurate. I try to listen and understand to everyone s point of view before
making a decision regarding others at work. Participative leadership also known as Democratic
Leadership Style is a method of leadership that involves all team members in terms of identifying
important goals as well as developing strategies and procedures to achieve the goals. From this point
of view, participative style of leadership can be perceived as a leadership style that relies primarily on
functioning as a facilitator that the one who simply issues commands or orders or making assignment
for each member of the team. ( Participative Leadership, p. 1 2) The definition of Participative Leader
to me means a Leader that listens and considers every point of view before making a final decision.

The Role of U.S. Customs and Border Protection
THE ROLE OF U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION The U.S. Customs and Border
Protection (U.S. CBP) is one of the oldest law enforcement entities in the U.S., and has a rich history
of protecting our borders. A historical overview and understanding of the U.S. Customs origins
displays how over the centuries the strategic mission of the CBP has evolved to combat threats of
specific time eras. U.S. Customs has grown from collecting of revenue during the 1800s to fighting
the War on Drugs, and well into the 21st century where combating terrorism would be yet another
mission undertaken by CBP. Without a doubt, the U.S. Customs Service has played an active role in
the protection of the nation s borders against terrorism, criminal drug lords, and even the violation of
intellectual property theft. Origins of the U.S. Customs Service The U.S. Customs was not officially
established until the 1780s. Originally, right after the American Revolutionary War, many American s
were weary of federal government s control and involvement. For this very reason many American
States would proceed and hire their own customs agents collecting revenue for the states and not
federal government. It would not be until 1787 the Abortive Impost Bill would officially be a law at
the Constitutional Convention. These new federal customs agents would now be tasked with enforcing
revenue laws. Interestingly, Customs would be the largest agency besides the Continental Army, and
had a low rate of

What Does August Wilson Symbolize In Fences
Many individuals have found themselves putting up fences in their lives metaphorically and physically
throughout their time being. In the play titled fences by August Wilson , some of its key characters put
up fences within their lives figuratively speaking. August wilson uses the symbol of a fence in various
occasions within the play. Characters lives mentioned change around the fence building project which
serves as both a figurative symbol, representing the relationships that bond and break in the backyard.
The fact that the character Rose Maxson wants the fence built adds significance to her character
because she views the fence as something necessary and rather positive since she wants to keep her
loved ones in. To her a fence is a symbol of her love and furthermore her motive for a fence signifies
that she represents concepts such as nurturing and love within a safe environment. For troy the fence

one major one which is the one between Rose and Troy. This bond is broken when Troy confesses
everything to Rose and this conflict takes place in the backyard, this is where Rose never feels the
same way about Troy after he delivered to her the disturbing news. Throughtout this play readers see
how fences are used to protect the characters mentioned. Previously Rose protects herself by singing a

reader can infer and see roses fondness for protection. For Rose the fence also represents a probability

Lakeland s Little Learners
When I was perhaps seven years old, surely no more than eight, I spent much of my summer at the
local daycare; Lakeland s Little Learners was it s name. I knew a lot of the kids there before I started
attending (which I had been doing for a few years at this point) because we had all previously gone to
another daycare in town, this one called Little Thinkers. However, due to parents not paying their
children s dues, (I dimly recall a vague understanding of a card checkout system indicating various
forms of payment each night, and watching many parents not bother to mark it) it was shut down, and
so we were all relocated to Lakeland s Little Learners. One of the friends I was delighted to become
reaquainted with at the new daycare was a boy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To most people, it was just children grabbing toys, but to me, it was the first time I saw the true nature
of people, my first encounter with a group mentality so unlike my own. To this day I still think that the
reason I remember it so much is because my friend, James, who I had known for so long and so well,
became a faceless member of a party that had no regard for what was right and wrong. They only saw
what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately forgetting and invalidating the pride and
effort that had previously gone into earning those prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest
moments I ever had the misfortune to watch, because James hesitating, looking at me, and then
turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the
kindest and most steadfast people can do the wrong thing. Really, the prize box was a lot like Golding
s conch because it was a sign of order which was obliterated by the enveloping evils of a few. There
are always going to be a few bad apples the ones who started stealing in the first place, for instance.
But what truly shocked me was that this time, it was everyone, not just a few, who took the wrong turn
and made the wrong choice. They gave into what I can deem as no more than deplorable, petty
thievery. Everything my

Gender Roles In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Victorian literature is a literature written in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, or roughly
from 1837 1901. It is largely characterized by the struggle of working people and the success; of right
over wrong. It happened to be in the Victorian era (1837 1901) that the novel became the leading
classification in English. Women played an important part in this rising popularity both as authors as
well as readers.
Little Women is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott (1832 1888), the title of the book was
meant to highlight the inferiority of women as compared to men, or, alternatively, describe the lives of
simple people, unimportant in the social sense. This novel was written in New England during and

It is not the same as sex and it is not the same as women. Gender is determined by the origination of
tasks, functions and roles attributed to women and men in society and in public and private life.
Gender plays an important role in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Due to strong Protestant
influences, nineteenth century American life stressed the importance of hard work, social propriety,
and religious piety. With these social norms came rigid views of gender roles. Women especially were
limited as to what their status was in this society (Clark, 2004). Louisa May Alcott s novel, Little
Women, tries to illustrate a favorable portrait of the honourable lives that four young girls and their
mother lead in their allotted roles in this patriarchal culture. The book becomes almost an instruction
of how young ladies should act in order to gain respect, find husbands, and then experience happiness
in their further lives. In Little Women, one of the March girls, Jo, is the most resistant to bind, this
social opinion. At a very young age, Jo dislikes the restrictions put on her by being a female; I can t
get over my disappointment at not being a boy...I can only stay at home and knit like a pokey old

The Caps Test For Career Assessment
Section One The CAPS test administered for career assessment, the assessment relates to occupation
and occupational abilities. In order for this test to be consider reliable, it must consistent in that it

abilities. I believe that the CAPS test has acceptable reliable, if the test was re administered in two
weeks, I would have similar results because the timing and length of the test reduced my chances of
memorizing the content of the test. To have validity, a test must measure what it purports to measure
(Hays, 2013, p. 96). In my opinion, the CAPS has fairly acceptable validity but lacks face validity in
that it does not look like it measure occupational abilities but educational abilities. However, face
validity does not prove as evidence of validity (Hays, 2013, p. 97). I believe the CAPS has fairly
acceptable validity, because it fairly predicts appropriate careers according to the test taker s high
interest areas. While administering the test, I was very nervous at first. I knew that I had to strictly
following the administration instructions and was nervous that I would mess up, which could
negatively affect the test taker s results. Towards the third section, it was quite fun as I got the hang of

The Tinning children fell victims to their Munchausen mother, Marybeth. Back in 1972, Jennifer, Mr.
and Mrs. Tinning s eight year old daughter had passed away from acute meningitis. As a very detached
and cold husband already, Mr. Tinning showed no support or sympathy towards his grieving wife after
their daughter s passing. It did however bring a wave of sympathy from family and friends. Just shy of
3 weeks following Jennifer s death, Marybeth had to rush her two year old son to the hospital where
he was pronounced dead due to a viral infection accompanied by a seizure disorder. Unfortunately no
autopsy was performed. The once lonely and ignored practical nurse just had to experience not losing
just one, but two children within only 3 weeks time. Marybeth could not help but notice how the
deaths of her children brought a tremendous amount of attention and sympathy. Now remember it is
only 1972, it wasn t until a couple years later in 1977 that medical field and law enforcement became
more aware of this upcoming condition that could lead to homicidal motives. Six weeks after the
second child, Joseph s death, calamity hit the Tinning family when four year old Barbra had passed.
Although suspicious were growing after now a third child from the Tinning family had died, all foul

appropriate for control engineering applications, Which is a PID Controller, We applying this
controller to control the speed of BLDC motor, in which its parameters are tuned by many methods
such as Ziegler Nichols method and optimization techniques which include genetic algorithm (GA)
and artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC). The chapter is organized as follows. In Section 3.1 a
conventional PID controller is introduced. Section 3.2 illustrate Ziegler and Nichols Tuning method

Establishing the difference between the story and the plot allows one to determine the effect each
element has on the understanding and interpretation of the piece. It also provides a way of tracking the

two functions and allows a flow within the film. The plot is the presentation of the events, in

does not play out until much later in the film relates to the demonstration of the debilitating extent of
Johns inability to act in the face of heights, once with the police officer and then with his love whom

The Reforms Of Gaius Marius And The Aftereffects Of The...
The first century BC brought about a number of important changes for the Roman army. Most notably,
the reforms of Gaius Marius and the aftereffects of both the Social and Civil Wars altered the Roman
army as a whole. Bringing about both continuity and change, these events would help to shape the
nature, composition and character of the army of the Late Republic period and beyond. Change came
in the form of reforms brought about by Marius; the changing of the conscription of soldiers into the
Roman army would alter not only the formation of the army, but also its nature and character.
Furthermore, the granting of full citizenship to non Roman troops who fought for the Roman army
meant a blurring of a distinct Roman identity, or what it meant to be a Roman. However, despite these
aspects of change, continuity too came out of this period. The troops of the army post Marian reforms
developed strong patron client relationships with their generals that were not unlike the concept of the
paterfamilias that had existed since the beginnings of Rome. Furthermore, leadership of the army was
put into the hands of a select few, as it always had been, and these men would use the army as a means
to further their personal ambitions.
The largest of these changes to the Roman army were arguably the changes Gaius Marius made in the
conscription of soldiers. Conscription pre Marius took the form of the state issuing a property
requirement for soldiers who wished to join the army. These men

must strive new feats to strive for. It make take a paltry seconds to discover the red and white sly guy,
or an entire lifetime. We may be searching for love, the perfect career, fortune, justice, or fame.
Whatever our endeavors may be, we shall look for Waldo. Though, there will be times where we see
apexes and nadirs, times we find him with celerity, or moments where we simply fail to find him and
must turn the page. But when we find Waldo, we turn the pages of life after a certain personal
milestone, ending that scene and it contents, whether they are like fairy tales and sandy bazaars. We
must go on to another chapter, onto another two fold spread to search for

How Did Joseph Rotblat Cause Mass Destruction
Joseph Rotblat was a polish physicist that helped create the first atomic bomb in the 1940s. The first
test explosion of a hydrogen bomb was done by the USA in 1952, the year that Britain exploded its
first test atomic bomb. The Soviet Union exploded its first hydrogen bomb in 1953. In the 1950s by
the end of world war Ⅱ the united states decided to launch the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Nagasaki.
Joseph Rotblat then devoted his life on the banning the usage of nuclear weapons and testing. Rotblat
does this by joining groups like the pugwash conference on science and world affairs and also having
a part in the Russell einstein manifesto. Rotblat did this because he did not want his own work to
cause mass destruction but to help create peace.

Ethics Of Volkswagen Case Study
With billions of dollars invested and hundreds of thousands of Americans employed (Department of
Commerce, n.d.), the automobile industry has a vast influence in the United States. Since the time
Henry Ford developed the assembly line production (Statista, n.d.) the industry has grown into a
global market with no signs of slowing down. Top car companies are constantly searching for new
innovations to set them apart from their competitors. Among those companies is Volkswagen (VW). A
company which strides in emissions and fuel efficiency turned, not only to be false, but caused a
severe amount of damage (Ewing, 2016).
Volkswagen s Background Volkswagen is a German based company started in 1937 and owns a range
of subsidiaries including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, it took nearly six years for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finally
discover the company s scheme; possibly creating a false believe that the company could continue to
get away with it. Lastly, VW seemed to be obsessed with surpassing Toyota and becoming the world s
biggest car company (A Mucky Scandal, 2015), apparently determined to do whatever it took to
accomplish that.
The Impact on VW It is not hard to see that the scandal would cause a horrid blow to VW s image.
Until the incident, VW had, like many other German companies, the reputation of German
engineering (Robertson, 2013). However, instead of using that innovation to develop diesel fueled cars
compliant with U.S. standards, it decided to try to scam its way in the market. Not only did the
company admit to having 11 million cars with software intended to cheat tests (Gates, Ewing, Russell
Watkins, 2017), it also plead guilty to destroying evidence in an elaborate cover up (VW Admits
Emissions Cheating and Cover up, 2017); building further distrust among its consumers.
Brand Equity One thing that can make or break a company is its brand equity. Brand equity is the
value that comes with the familiarity with a company s branding and the feelings consumers have
towards that brand (Brand Equity, n.d.). A company with strong brand equity usually gives consumers
a sense of reliability and value; causing a higher inclination to purchase its products. It usually takes

The Objective Measurement Of Alpha Amylase
The objective measurement of alpha amylase activity is used every day to ensure the quality of our
staple foods. Alpha amylase is taken into account well before baking our foods and milling the grains.
We will be reviewing what alpha amylase is, how it is measured and what effects it has in the industry
all the way from the farm, to your fork. Alpha amylase is a protein enzyme present in grains that have
starch. It is also present in humans, most commonly in saliva (Murray). The main purpose for alpha
amylase is to break down, or hydrolase, polysaccharides, such as starch (Murray). When alpha
amylase breaks down starch and glycogen, they cause a chemical reaction that creates the sugars
maltose and glucose. Alpha amylose is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The breakdown of starches into sugars gives the plant a food source to help it grow. In the 1970 s,
Australian wheat farmers were suffering because their wheat crop was being bought at a reduced rate
due to high alpha amylase activity (Csiro). This was caused by LMA, or late maturity alpha amylase.
LMA is a genetic defect that causes high alpha amylase activity before harvest (Csiro). This meant
that the wheat could not be stored as long and had poor milling qualities. As a result, in 1980,
Australians recognized late maturity alpha amylase as a genetic defect in their wheat, along with pre
harvest sprouting, or PHS (Csiro). Late maturity alpha amylase is caused only by genetics, where pre
harvest sprouting can be caused by growing conditions, such as heavy rainfall. Today in Australia,
wheat breeders have to test through two cycles of wheat before they pick what wheat lines they will
breed and release to the farmers (Csiro). Even though they screen their wheat for LMA and PHS,
wheat can still be susceptible to high alpha amylase activity, which will then become the millers
responsibility. In the flour mill, if incoming wheat has high alpha amylase activity the miller must
blend the wheat with wheat that has low alpha amylase activity, in order to create a blend with the
proper amount of amylase activity. If the incoming wheat has too high amylase activity, the wheat will
be rejected and the farmer will receive an even more income reductions. Millers

Liver Cell Inflammation
4.Liver cell damage and inflammation:
Inflammation is a kind of protective immune response of body towards the hazardous stimulants like
pathogens, irritants or even dead cells. The components of this protective immune response include
blood vessels, mast cells , tumor necrosis factor (TNF α), tryptase, chemokines, reactive oxygen
species (ROS), histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandin and leukotrines, interleukin 1. The inflammatory
process is associated with stoppage of harmful stimuli, clearance of damaged tissues and repairing of
injury. Inflammation is strictly regulated by the body. The extent of this response determines its
positive or negative effect on body. Extremely low level of inflammation can t stop tissue damage

second type of inflammation i.e. chronic inflammation is long lasting and may predispose various
chronic illnesses to the host cell, including cancer (110). During inflammation, mast cells and
leukocytes lead to a respiratory burst when these are recruited to the site of damage because of
increased uptake of oxygen. This results in an increased release and accumulation of ROS at the site of
damaged area (108 109). The soluble mediators produced by inflammatory cells, such as metabolites
of arachidonic acid, cytokines and chemokines, further recruit inflammatory cells to the injury site to

Theories Of Natural Selection
Natural selection is the key to evolution. The difference in genotype from generation gives rise to key
traits that help species survive and flourish. When these species reproduce, they pass on their genes to
their offspring who then will be able to survive. Those species who don t have these key traits reduce
in number because they don t possess vital traits that can help them survive nor can they pass on vital
traits to their offspring. Charles Darwin was the person who came up with this theory and he discussed
it extensively in his book The Origin of Species. This theory explains why we have so much species
with distinct traits but what it doesn t explain is the evolution of neuter individuals. Neuter individuals
can t reproduce so if they had any trait that gave them a foothold over nature, it cannot be passed on to

The worker bees help the queen reproduce and have a reduced reproduction rate as a result. In Darwin
s special difficulty; the evolution of neuter insects and current theory, Francis .W. Ratnieks reviews
Darwin s discussion about altruistic worker insects and natural selection and connects them with some
current ideas about altruism. This essay discusses Darwin s question: how can natural selection favor
the evolution of sterile workers? At first, it seemed like worker bees presented a challenge to natural
selection but after years of research, Darwin and other modern biologist formalized theories that
explained the natural selection of worker bees.
Modern biologist generalized Darwin s difficulty with these bees as a problem of altruism. They
consider altruism to be a paradox because even though altruistic animals give up their fitness on
behalf of other animals, they continue to evolve and survive. Natural selection states that the more fit
animals are, the more likely they are to survive. Natural selection increases reproduction

Ethnographic Analysis Of Pharmacy
The popular sector in the United States is something that carries a large impact on the individuals.
Many people will choose to ask others for advice or figure out what they need themselves, rather than
go to the doctor. From my quick ethnographic research in the pharmacy sections in a couple of
different stores, I noticed some interesting similarities and some differences in how people interact in
this sector. Many individuals had some sort of communication going with others about what product
they should get, whether it be in person or on the phone. They also had some interesting differences
between them. Both times that I went there was an overwhelming majority of females to males. The
setting of both of these pharmacies was very well lit and easy to get around in. This is very helpful to
people who may be ill or someone who is in a hurry to find medicine for a sick loved one. All of the

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Confucianism
For all the strengths of Confucian attitudes toward nature, there are also weaknesses that must be

poor environmental management over time, despite Confucian philosophy emphasizing unity between

far been successful and valuable for him and the company. He correctly recognized the importance of
the big picture, as he chose people whose backgrounds covered a wide range of industries and skills
and who could therefore fill in any gaps. Furthermore, Bob s choices were all successful business
professionals, so he could therefore be relatively sure that they would be effective in handling any
future challenges and recognizing future opportunities. Bob was also cognizant that the business and
the family needed unbiased consultants in order to offer advice regarding family employment, and
establishing the advisory board presented an outlet in which family members could privately discuss
any issues on their mind. Lastly, he established an objective for the board, in that the board would only
focus on the big picture, which meant that they didn t get caught in the daily details or argue over the
day to day routine. However, he was fortunate in several ways in how well the board worked out. For
example, he didn t clear the names with his brother Rex until after he had already offered them a board
position and they d accepted; this could have caused conflict with Rex if he had felt slighted or left out

Inspector Calls
An Inspector s Calls is a play that was written by J.B. Priestley in 1945 but set in Edwardian England
1912. The play is set in a fictional industrial city in the North Midlands called Brumley. The fictional
industrial city of Brumley would have been typical of many towns, as in the town there would be
factory owners, who would provide much needed jobs, this meant that the factory owners were able to
run their businesses any way they wanted to. These factory owners were more important in 1912 than
they are now, as many industrialists got rich in the 1800s. For example, men like Arthur Birling may
have come from a modest background but his new wealth helped him climb up the social ladder,

The first scene introduces the characters and gives a taste of their personality to the audience. Also the
play has an element of Whodunnit since Eva s Smiths story is slowly exposed due to the Inspector s
questioning.
Sheila is the daughter of Mr Arthur Birling and Mrs Sybil Birling; she is described by Priestley as a
pretty girl in her early twenties... pleased about life...excited. This makes the audience see Sheila as a
sweet lively young girl who appreciates life in her own bubble. The bubble makes her naive and
immature. We see Sheila being naive when she talks about the previous summer when Gerald
vanished. Gerald explains that he was awfully busy at work all the time , the audience see Sheila to be
youthful because she believes Gerald was really working during the whole summer. Sheila in the
beginning of the play says a little as she seems like a well mannered and not outspoken. Priestley
describes Sheila like an ordinary twenty year old girl, who is rather content with life, as Sheila is
excited about her engagement like any girl would be. She is also portrayed as spoilt and a girl who
gets her own way.
You ve got it... mummy isn t beautiful. This impression of Sheila is portrayed again and again later on
in the play. It also makes the audience feel jealous towards Sheila and not like her very much at the
start, later on it shows how dramatically Sheila changes from being spoilt to being more realistic

The Importance Of Happiness Is The Key To A Perfect Life
I once was told by my mother, happiness is the key to a perfect life . Throughout my life, I have
carried that statement in my heart. Those few words have taught me how valuable the little things in
life truly are. Some of the little things in life that allow me to be the happiest person I can be are the
following: My boyfriend Dominic, family, my dog Riley, and Netflix. Dominic brings out my
happiness by always makes sure I don t go a minute without smiling. If it wasn t for my family, I
wouldn t be where I am today and I m incredibly happy with how much they push me to be the best I
can be. When I m sad, my dog always knows how to cheer me up by licking my tears away or she lays
next to me and watches Netflix. Netflix makes me happy due to the fact that I don t have to do
anything but lay back and enjoy a funny movie or show with the people I love. These things are what
make my world go around every day.
Anytime that I am feeling stressed or down, Netflix cheers me up. Netflix allows me to sit back and
relax. Watching the tv provider, allows me to forget all my problems, and allows me to watch other
people have problems. Netflix to me is like a bottle of milk to a baby because its calms me down,
takes the stress away, and overall just makes me a happier person. The best part about watching
Netflix is when my dog Riley lays next to me to watch the other animals on the tv.

What Were The Consequences Of German Imperialism
Germans undertook extensive colonialism in south west Africa, and decided that the land should no
longer belong to the native people. 1880, saw the German s in control of a colony with large amounts
of natives on the land. At this time there were two major native African ethnic groups present. The
Nama or Namaqua, which had a population of around twenty thousand people, and the Herero a group
of cattle herders, which contained around seventy five thousand people. German colonial rule was
harsh and brutal, any type of resistance was met with brutality and severe consequences. The clash
between cultures would lead to a four year war that ended with the systematic murder and
extermination of the ethnic groups: Nama, and Herero. The war officially started in January of 1904
when Herero people attacked farms owned by Germans. Around one hundred and thirty people were
killed, but women, children and missionaries were left alone. The Germans soon took the upper hand
and managed to win the battle, in May of 1904, General Lothar von Trotha became commander, and

Why Does Shakespeare Use Comedy In Hamlet
Shakespeare uses comedy in many of his books, plays, and movies. Although this comedy is not
explicitly shown throughout his works, they are hidden in order to provide a release from all of the

comedy in order to relax or calm himself while going through a rough patch in life. Many of the other

How Successful Was The Marshall Plan
The United States saw the need to help Europe rebuild and came up with the Marshall Plan. The
Marshall Plan gave roughly $13 billion in aid for Europe to rebuild its economy after the end of World
War II. The Marshall Plan spanned over a four year period beginning in 1948. The United States have
many goals with the Marshal Plan which included: to remove trade barriers, rebuild destroyed regions,
modernize industry, have Europe booming again, and prevent the spread of communism. The plan
required a lot of different things but the main concern would be they adopted the modern business
procedures.
The largest recipient of the aid was the United Kingdom, followed by France and West Germany. The
aid was divided by using the per capita basis. The larger amounts were given to the major industrial
powers since the goal of the plan was that their recovery was essential for general European recovery.
Aid was also directed towards our Allied nations with less for the other nations. The initiative is

Although most small towns and villages had not suffered as much damage, the destruction of
transportation left them economically isolated. None of these problems could be easily remedied, as
most nations engaged in the war had exhausted their treasuries in its execution. The only major
powers whose infrastructure had not been significantly harmed in World War II were the United States
and Canada. They were much more prosperous than before the war but exports were a small factor in
their economy. Much of the Marshall Plan aid would be used by the Europeans to buy manufactured
goods and raw materials from the United States and Canada. For this reasoning, the United States and
Canada would be better off than the rest of the

Everyone dreads going to the mailbox when you know your utilities bill will be in there any day. But
what if I told you that their is new technology out there that will actually save you hundreds of dollars
every year. Down below are just a few of many gadgets and tips. They range from home auditor s
looking at your house to new thermostats. They will not only make bill time less stressful but turn a
house into a home.
A home energy audit, commonly known as a home energy assessment is when a person comes to your
house and helps you determine how much energy you re home is using. The audit will go through
your house room by room and show you where it is losing energy and how to make your home more
efficient and comfortable. For those of you that don t feel comfortable having someone looking
through your house, there is another option. If you go to https://energy.gov/energysaver/do it yourself
home energy audits it will tell you everything you need to know in order to examine your house on

The price is set at around $300. You might be asking why it s so special. It s special because Nest
starts to learn your schedule just after a few days of adjusting it. For example, it will learn that you

after you get up and ready to leave the house it turns the air down to save energy while you re not at
home. Nest can also track your phone phone, if you allow it to, so it knows when you re about to be

The Impact Of Police Personality And Coping
Impact of Police Personality and Coping on Perceived Job Stress Currently, there is a lack of research
that connects personality and its impact on stress and coping (Lau, Hem, Berg, Ekeberg, Torgersen,
2006). Research in this area is particularly important for law enforcement because personality can
influence how police interact, react, and cope with stressors (Larsen Buss, 2002). Clearly, police face
a wide array of stressors everyday due to the nature of their job. According to Violanti and Aron
(1994), being a police officer is one of the top three most stressful occupations one can have. How
they deal with that stress can impact the individual officer, the department, and society itself. Research
has shown that many officers use maladaptive coping skills to deal with these stressors (Patterson,
2003). Although police stress has been widely researched, most studies do not look at police stress
over the different stages of their careers and through the different officer ranks. Personality, perceived
stress, and coping may change throughout a police officer s career (Jensen, 2009). Knowing at what
point in the officer s career and at what rank the most stress is experienced will also aid in creating a
preemptive plan. Literature Review What is the police personality, how does it form, and how is it
assessed? Larsen and Buss (2002) define personality as, a set of psychological traits within the
individual that are organized and relatively enduring and that influence

Coming Of Age In The Igbo Culture
Coming of age is very important. It is when you prove that you can take care of yourself and when
you set off on your own and become independent. Also, it is when you begin a new life, one where
you can make your own decisions. This is very important in the Igbo culture. When the child turns of
age to become an adult, it is not that different than western societies. The only difference is that in the
Igbo culture, children have to prove that they are adults. After proving yourself to be an adult, the final
entrance into adulthood is the coming of age ceremony. The coming of age ceremony starts with
people standing around the child. Then, according to B.A. Robinson someone from the group would
presents the child by saying, Creator of All in this sacred place, we present to you (the child s legal
name). We ask for Your Presence and Blessings for this ceremony celebrating her transition from child
to young adulthood (www.religioustolerance.org/wicpuber.htm). Then, the child lights the candle that
symbolizes childhood. Next, the mother asks of the child some thing along the lines of If he or she
answers affirmatively to all that is asked of him/her then he/she lights the candle that symbolizes
adulthood. The person then is given water which has rose petals ... Show more content on

It was because Okonkwo and Nwoye saw how their fathers were to the people around them and their
personalities, and because of that, they set out to become different people. The book showed
throughout the story how Nwoye was coming of age and how he began to separate from his dad and
become his own man. This is important for Nwoye because becoming your own man is something
celebrated in all cultures and religions. The story reveals to the reader that coming of age is universal
in all cultures and religions, and no matter how someone feels about his father, coming of age means a
person has a choice of how to be and live his

  • 2. Gun Control And The Right State Of Mind Gun control has been one of main debating topics for years. This particular subject is discussed frequently between our presidential candidates. How safe do citizens feel in the community knowing that it is not hard to obtain a concealed handgun and/or a handgun license? Citizens in some communities have to worry more about their lives rather than bills. It should never have to be that way for anyone. Some people are not in the right state of mind to have the privilege to carry a firearm. Sanity level of others should not be an issue within the communities across the nation. The government has the power to establish a stricter process when applying for a gun license. Those wanting a license to have a handgun should go through a background check, which is already enforced, and a psychological evaluation. In the past, the United States has had numerous cases that involved gun violence and insanity. Setting a more rigorous foundation for issuing out firearms will better the country tremendously insuring the safety of the citizens, requiring more than a background check, and having a psychological as the last step to be granted the privilege to carry a firearm. The battle between gun control laws versus the people have been around for decades. The first attempt to prevent gun control was in 1671 in the English Parliament. This document did not apply to individuals that hunted. Throughout time, people continued to hunt animals along with other humans. The Second Amendment soon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The word neoplasm refers to abnormal overgrowth of cells rather than healthy new cell growth. It is often used interchangeably with words such as tumor and cancer. It is a cancerous tumor that grows, proliferates, infiltrates and metastasizes to other parts of the body. It can spread to surrounding tissues, through lymph nodes or through the bloodstream. Some of the main types of cancer are described below: Leukemia This affects the tissues that make blood, such as the bone marrow. Large numbers of abnormal cells are produced in the bone marrow, which then spread to the bloodstream Carcinoma This begins in the skin or tissues that line organs. • 4. Transit Of Venus Research Paper A transit of Venus occurs when the planet Venus passes in between the earth and the sun making it visible for us humans to see a small round disk moving slowly at a particularly slow rate across the sun. The components to this are the Transit of venus Transit s such as the ones that have been viewed in 1874 and 2012 are very rare nowadays and will only occur every 243 years with a pair of transits that are 8 years apart from each other(1874 1882) (2004 2012), making it a very special occasion for scientists and observers to discover more astronomy research in the 2012 transit. The reasoning to why it takes a long time for the next transit to occur is because at every 584 days Venus is not directly aligned in between the Earth and the Sun as it is positioned either below or above the blazing star. This event causes the light rays to be undisturbed allowing the star to produce it s light over the earth, giving the reason why it takes a very long time for the next transit to occur in December 2117. Transits are also known to have a similar concept to Solar Eclipses. They are both aligned in between the earth and the sun (Inferior Conjunction) during their particular events. The moon covers the sun quickly at approximately 7:30 minutes and is appeared to be larger than the circular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 2012 transit, scientists discovered new measurements of the diameter of Venus and comparing them with the measurements that the astronomers/scientists are familiar with, allowing further research on exoplanet ... Leadership Styles Of A Leadership Style Assessment Leadership Styles in Nursing Danny Coughlin University of Louisiana of Lafayette Leadership Styles in Nursing The enclosed information in this paper is based on a Leadership Style Assessment that was printed from a dynamic leadership handbook. I will discuss the results of the leadership style assessment, why or why not I agree with the results and which type of leadership makes the best or worst leader. I will also review a past nursing supervisor s leadership style and state whether or not his style was effective. Current Leadership Style The results of my Leadership Style Assessment was a Participatory Leader. I believe that the results were accurate. I try to listen and understand to everyone s point of view before making a decision regarding others at work. Participative leadership also known as Democratic Leadership Style is a method of leadership that involves all team members in terms of identifying important goals as well as developing strategies and procedures to achieve the goals. From this point of view, participative style of leadership can be perceived as a leadership style that relies primarily on functioning as a facilitator that the one who simply issues commands or orders or making assignment for each member of the team. The Role of U.S. Customs and Border Protection THE ROLE OF U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP) is one of the oldest law enforcement entities in the U.S., and has a rich history of protecting our borders. A historical overview and understanding of the U.S. Customs origins displays how over the centuries the strategic mission of the CBP has evolved to combat threats of specific time eras. U.S. Customs has grown from collecting of revenue during the 1800s to fighting the War on Drugs, and well into the 21st century where combating terrorism would be yet another mission undertaken by CBP. Without a doubt, the U.S. Customs Service has played an active role in the protection of the nation s borders against terrorism, criminal drug lords, and even the violation of intellectual property theft. Origins of the U.S. Customs Service The U.S. Customs was not officially established until the 1780s. Originally, right after the American Revolutionary War, many American s were weary of federal government s control and involvement. For this very reason many American States would proceed and hire their own customs agents collecting revenue for the states and not federal government. It would not be until 1787 the Abortive Impost Bill would officially be a law at the Constitutional Convention. These new federal customs agents would now be tasked with enforcing revenue laws. In the play titled fences by August Wilson , some of its key characters put up fences within their lives figuratively speaking. August wilson uses the symbol of a fence in various occasions within the play. Characters lives mentioned change around the fence building project which serves as both a figurative symbol, representing the relationships that bond and break in the backyard. The fact that the character Rose Maxson wants the fence built adds significance to her character because she views the fence as something necessary and rather positive since she wants to keep her loved ones in. I knew a lot of the kids there before I started attending (which I had been doing for a few years at this point) because we had all previously gone to another daycare in town, this one called Little Thinkers. However, due to parents not paying their children s dues, (I dimly recall a vague understanding of a card checkout system indicating various forms of payment each night, and watching many parents not bother to mark it) it was shut down, and so we were all relocated to Lakeland s Little Learners. To most people, it was just children grabbing toys, but to me, it was the first time I saw the true nature of people, my first encounter with a group mentality so unlike my own. To this day I still think that the reason I remember it so much is because my friend, James, who I had known for so long and so well, became a faceless member of a party that had no regard for what was right and wrong. They only saw what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately forgetting and invalidating the pride and effort that had previously gone into earning those prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest moments I ever had the misfortune to watch, because James hesitating, looking at me, and then turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the kindest and most steadfast people can do the wrong thing. Really, the prize box was a lot like Golding s conch because it was a sign of order which was obliterated by the enveloping evils of a few. There are always going to be a few bad apples the ones who started stealing in the first place, for instance. But what truly shocked me was that this time, it was everyone, not just a few, who took the wrong turn and made the wrong choice. They gave into what I can deem as no more than deplorable, petty thievery. Everything my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender is determined by the origination of tasks, functions and roles attributed to women and men in society and in public and private life. Gender plays an important role in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Due to strong Protestant influences, nineteenth century American life stressed the importance of hard work, social propriety, and religious piety. With these social norms came rigid views of gender roles. Women especially were limited as to what their status was in this society (Clark, 2004). Louisa May Alcott s novel, Little Women, tries to illustrate a favorable portrait of the honourable lives that four young girls and their mother lead in their allotted roles in this patriarchal culture. The book becomes almost an instruction of how young ladies should act in order to gain respect, find husbands, and then experience happiness in their further lives. In Little Women, one of the March girls, Jo, is the most resistant to bind, this social opinion. At a very young age, Jo dislikes the restrictions put on her by being a female; I can t get over my disappointment at not being a boy...I can only stay at home and knit like a pokey old woman (Clark, ... • 18. The Reforms Of Gaius Marius And The Aftereffects Of The... The first century BC brought about a number of important changes for the Roman army. Most notably, the reforms of Gaius Marius and the aftereffects of both the Social and Civil Wars altered the Roman army as a whole. Bringing about both continuity and change, these events would help to shape the nature, composition and character of the army of the Late Republic period and beyond. Change came in the form of reforms brought about by Marius; the changing of the conscription of soldiers into the Roman army would alter not only the formation of the army, but also its nature and character. Furthermore, the granting of full citizenship to non Roman troops who fought for the Roman army meant a blurring of a distinct Roman identity, or what it meant to be a Roman. However, despite these aspects of change, continuity too came out of this period. The troops of the army post Marian reforms developed strong patron client relationships with their generals that were not unlike the concept of the paterfamilias that had existed since the beginnings of Rome. Furthermore, leadership of the army was put into the hands of a select few, as it always had been, and these men would use the army as a means to further their personal ambitions. The largest of these changes to the Roman army were arguably the changes Gaius Marius made in the conscription of soldiers. The breakdown of starches into sugars gives the plant a food source to help it grow. In the 1970 s, Australian wheat farmers were suffering because their wheat crop was being bought at a reduced rate due to high alpha amylase activity (Csiro). This was caused by LMA, or late maturity alpha amylase. LMA is a genetic defect that causes high alpha amylase activity before harvest (Csiro). This meant that the wheat could not be stored as long and had poor milling qualities. As a result, in 1980, Australians recognized late maturity alpha amylase as a genetic defect in their wheat, along with pre harvest sprouting, or PHS (Csiro). Late maturity alpha amylase is caused only by genetics, where pre harvest sprouting can be caused by growing conditions, such as heavy rainfall. Today in Australia, wheat breeders have to test through two cycles of wheat before they pick what wheat lines they will breed and release to the farmers (Csiro). Even though they screen their wheat for LMA and PHS, wheat can still be susceptible to high alpha amylase activity, which will then become the millers responsibility. In the flour mill, if incoming wheat has high alpha amylase activity the miller must blend the wheat with wheat that has low alpha amylase activity, in order to create a blend with the proper amount of amylase activity. If the incoming wheat has too high amylase activity, the wheat will be rejected and the farmer will receive an even more income reductions. Millers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The worker bees help the queen reproduce and have a reduced reproduction rate as a result. In Darwin s special difficulty; the evolution of neuter insects and current theory, Francis .W. Ratnieks reviews Darwin s discussion about altruistic worker insects and natural selection and connects them with some current ideas about altruism. This essay discusses Darwin s question: how can natural selection favor the evolution of sterile workers? At first, it seemed like worker bees presented a challenge to natural selection but after years of research, Darwin and other modern biologist formalized theories that explained the natural selection of worker bees. Modern biologist generalized Darwin s difficulty with these bees as a problem of altruism. They consider altruism to be a paradox because even though altruistic animals give up their fitness on behalf of other animals, they continue to evolve and survive. Natural selection states that the more fit animals are, the more likely they are to survive. Natural selection increases reproduction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Ethnographic Analysis Of Pharmacy The popular sector in the United States is something that carries a large impact on the individuals. Many people will choose to ask others for advice or figure out what they need themselves, rather than go to the doctor. From my quick ethnographic research in the pharmacy sections in a couple of different stores, I noticed some interesting similarities and some differences in how people interact in this sector. Many individuals had some sort of communication going with others about what product they should get, whether it be in person or on the phone. They also had some interesting differences between them. Both times that I went there was an overwhelming majority of females to males. The setting of both of these pharmacies was very well lit and easy to get around in. This is very helpful to people who may be ill or someone who is in a hurry to find medicine for a sick loved one. As a governance system, Confucianism s emphasis on hierarchy has served the programs of political elites, fostering a disconnect between rulers and the ruled. This pattern has contributed to poor environmental management over time, despite Confucian philosophy emphasizing unity between humans and the land (Elvin, 2004; Tuan, 1968). Even within a single tradition, Chinese environmental values are not monolithic. But clearly, Confucian values are insufficient by themselves to ground Conservation with Chinese Characteristics . Bob s rationale behind establishing an advisory board, and his approach for selecting its members, has thus far been successful and valuable for him and the company. He correctly recognized the importance of the big picture, as he chose people whose backgrounds covered a wide range of industries and skills and who could therefore fill in any gaps. Furthermore, Bob s choices were all successful business professionals, so he could therefore be relatively sure that they would be effective in handling any future challenges and recognizing future opportunities. Bob was also cognizant that the business and the family needed unbiased consultants in order to offer advice regarding family employment, and establishing the advisory board presented an outlet in which family members could privately discuss any issues on their mind. Lastly, he established an objective for the board, in that the board would only focus on the big picture, which meant that they didn t get caught in the daily details or argue over the day to day routine. However, he was fortunate in several ways in how well the board worked out. For example, he didn t clear the names with his brother Rex until after he had already offered them a board position and they d accepted; this could have caused conflict with Rex if he had felt slighted or left out of the decision making process or if he had had any complaints about any ... The play is set in a fictional industrial city in the North Midlands called Brumley. The fictional industrial city of Brumley would have been typical of many towns, as in the town there would be factory owners, who would provide much needed jobs, this meant that the factory owners were able to run their businesses any way they wanted to. These factory owners were more important in 1912 than they are now, as many industrialists got rich in the 1800s. We see Sheila being naive when she talks about the previous summer when Gerald vanished. Gerald explains that he was awfully busy at work all the time , the audience see Sheila to be youthful because she believes Gerald was really working during the whole summer. Sheila in the beginning of the play says a little as she seems like a well mannered and not outspoken. Priestley describes Sheila like an ordinary twenty year old girl, who is rather content with life, as Sheila is excited about her engagement like any girl would be. She is also portrayed as spoilt and a girl who gets her own way. You ve got it... mummy isn t beautiful. This impression of Sheila is portrayed again and again later on in the play. The United States have many goals with the Marshal Plan which included: to remove trade barriers, rebuild destroyed regions, modernize industry, have Europe booming again, and prevent the spread of communism. The plan required a lot of different things but the main concern would be they adopted the modern business procedures. The largest recipient of the aid was the United Kingdom, followed by France and West Germany. The aid was divided by using the per capita basis. • 41. The Impact Of Police Personality And Coping Impact of Police Personality and Coping on Perceived Job Stress Currently, there is a lack of research that connects personality and its impact on stress and coping (Lau, Hem, Berg, Ekeberg, Torgersen, 2006). Research in this area is particularly important for law enforcement because personality can influence how police interact, react, and cope with stressors (Larsen Buss, 2002). Clearly, police face a wide array of stressors everyday due to the nature of their job. According to Violanti and Aron (1994), being a police officer is one of the top three most stressful occupations one can have. How they deal with that stress can impact the individual officer, the department, and society itself. Research has shown that many officers use maladaptive coping skills to deal with these stressors (Patterson, 2003). Although police stress has been widely researched, most studies do not look at police stress over the different stages of their careers and through the different officer ranks. Personality, perceived stress, and coping may change throughout a police officer s career (Jensen, 2009). Knowing at what point in the officer s career and at what rank the most stress is experienced will also aid in creating a preemptive plan. Also, it is when you begin a new life, one where you can make your own decisions. This is very important in the Igbo culture. When the child turns of age to become an adult, it is not that different than western societies. The only difference is that in the Igbo culture, children have to prove that they are adults. After proving yourself to be an adult, the final entrance into adulthood is the coming of age ceremony. The coming of age ceremony starts with people standing around the child.
