World Order Research Paper
The world order, in general, refers to the economic, political or social state of affairs prevailing
in the world at a given time and the corresponding effect this has on the different relationships
countries have among each other. In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact
changing and that we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To
prove this, I will analyse in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant
party. Firstly, I will compare the military and economic power of the US and China and come to
the conclusion that the US is the more dominant power. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of
foreign policy and political power the US commands more soft power... Show more content on

It could, therefore, be argued that these increased political tensions may cause the US to lose
key allies and in turn help China become the more favoured country. However, in recent times,
China has proven to be arrogant, aggressive and rude when it comes to executing its foreign
policy. Many countries, including Japan and India, claim to find it increasingly challenging to
cooperate with China and this has done nothing but push said countries towards the US and
cemented the US s global power. Therefore, it is clear that even in terms of soft power, the US
scores much higher than China and as a result there will be no shift in power which re
emphasizes the fact that the world order is not changing. In conclusion, I have argued that the
world order is not changing. In order to prove this, I have first established that in terms of hard
power (militarily and economically) the US is the more dominant power and as a result there
appears to be no power shift. Furthermore, I have shown that even in terms of soft power (using
foreign aid and foreign policy) the US still scores ahead of China, once again indicating no signs of
a power

Information Processing With Population Codes Essay
Just to start off, we are going to go over a quick background on my paper and some terms to get a
better understanding beforehand. The paper I was assigned is called, Information Processing with
Population Codes. It is written by Alexandre Pouget, Peter Dayan, and Richard Zemel. Alexandre
Pouget is a professor at the NeuroscienceCentre at the University of Geneva. There he leads the
computational cognitive neuroscience laboratory; his research focuses on theories of representation
and computation within Neural Circuits. Alexandre Pouget is the lead author of this paper.
This paper focuses on neural coding and population codes, which are heavily interrelated. Neural
Coding is a field in Cognitive Science that is concerned with the ... Show more content on

This is where the start of population coding formed. I personally find it amazing that we can
compare two separate things that are unlike in many ways such as computers and our nervous
system. There are so many things that are similar even though they are so unlike, such as there is
one thing controlling the whole system like in our bodies our nervous system controls us.
An example of the population coding that is presented within the paper is place cells within
rats. We are able to use these cells to show the animals location with regards to a centred
reference frame in the surrounding environment of the rat. In this experiment, they use a small
maze, each area is characterized by one of these place cells . Within this area there is a small
region of the maze that is triggered and sends a response. Through observing the rats, they saw
that there was a spatial overlap between the fields and thus, they concluded that the cells would
respond to any location that they are given. They also found that visual features were also encoded
within these population codes, for example, orientation, colour, direction of motion, and depth. So
far, it has been shown that our environmental influences effect our behaviour so heavily.
Population encoding is very strongly rooted, if one cell is damaged it won t affect the already
encoded representation. Just as if one part of a computer goes, most of the time the remaining parts
of the device

Surgeons mostly work in a private practice or a public hospital. These medical professionals spend
time many settings: consulting rooms, operating theatres, wards and special units (e.g. emergency).
Surgeons are required to travel between offices and hospitals in order to address their patient s
concerns. Surgeons must work in sterile environments when performing surgeries as it benefits both
the patient(s) and the perioperative team, in terms of hygiene and personal health. Surgeons have a

How Did Pope John Paul II Have A Free Response To Religion
As displayed in the film, Pope John II , we can see that Pope John Paul II shows many
characteristics of a faith fulfilled man such as, that it is risky and requires a free response. I think
a main part in the movie where his faith is risked is when he denies his girlfriend of pushing their
relationship into something more. He denied her offer. I feel like her had the calling of Godto him to
become a priest earlier and that a family and marriage was his thing. He knew that God wanted
him to spread the word of God and help spread His ways rather than creating more children of
God. he probably had to think twice on what he truly wanted for his future. There are a lot of
styes when you think about something about this. He truly risked a lot but he knew whatever he
chose his relationship with God would be strong. Pope John Paul II delayed a free response early in
his life when the Nazi s took over hsi town in Poland during the late 1930 s. There was a lot of
Nazi propaganda where he lived and he refused to bow to it and take part of it. He encouraged to

Thomas Hobbes And Social Contract Theory
The emergence of state as an institution has been explained in detail by Thomas Hobbes, John
Locke and Rousseau with the help of the concept of social contract. In the primitive times, when
there was no Government and no authority to control and regulate the people, many sections of the
society experienced hardships and exploitation. In order to overcome these hardships, the Soveriegn
came into existence as a result of the mutual agrrement among the people to obey an authority.
Social Contract Theory of Hobbes:
Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher of the 17th century. He lived during the time period
when people demanded constitutional monarchy in place of absolute monarchy in England.
However, Hobbes suported absolute monarchy through his concept of social contract which we
find in his book Leviathan . According to him, in the ancient times, mankind lived in a
hypothetical state of nature where man was greedy, selfish, quarrelsome and aggressive. He has
described the state of nature as war of all against all . As per him, man would go up to any extent
in order to fulfil his needs and desire. He draws a very gloomy picture of human race. Hence, in
order to overcome this, an authority with absolute power should come into position. Man has no
rights except the right for self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that monarchy should be blocked. Like Hobbes, he also adopted the theory of social
contract, but the only difference lies in the state of nature. According to Locke, the human nature
was not greedy but instead peaceful, happy, nice and helpful. People also followed the natural
laws and rights. But there is still a need for authority because there exists many inconviniences. He
believed only in giving limited power to the authority unlike Hobbes. The main role of the authority
is to secure the life, liberty and property of its people. He differentiated between state and

Finance, Banking And Finance Industry
When you drive up to your bank or walk up to your teller, your main goal is to complete your
transaction and move on with your day. The last thing on your mind is how that transaction is
taking place. You don t care what happens behind the scenes as long as your money is where it
needs to be and is safe. As the banking and financeindustry has transformed, so has the process of
how your money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws
designed to protect consumers, banks, and the economy as a whole. As you will learn, the history
of the banking industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so
in the last century with the advance of technology. It only makes sense that those lawmakers must
continue to update and invent new regulation to further protect those interested parties. My goal is
to demonstrate just how rapidly and radically the finance industry has changed and how new
elements being introduced to finance and banking will adapt the industry and the regulation.
In the world of finance and financial services, banking has been around longer than any other
segment of that world. For more than two millenniums, bankers have served as money changers
who aided people in exchanging foreign for local currencies. As this practice grew and many began
to throw their funds into the banking system, the services that banks performed multiplied. Loans
were granted and bankers collected interest. Most of

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plate Heat...
Plate Heat Exchangers Design and Advantages
Plate heat exchangers are clearly sorts of warmth exchangers. It capacities by exchanging the
warmth starting with one liquid then onto the next through the utilization of metal plates.
Contrasting it and traditional warmth exchangers, these ones are supported particularly in light of
the fact that the liquids deal with bigger surface zones and are equipped for scattering to the metal
plates. Basically, the methodology empowers appropriate assistance of warmth exchange as it
velocities up the adjustments in temperature happening amid the procedure.
Knowing more about the idea of plate warmth exchangers includes taking a gander at the
configuration of the device and in addition separating the focal points from its inconveniences.
Fundamentally, a warmth exchanger uses channels to cool or warm a liquid through the procedure
of exchanging it to another liquid. The funnels dividers are frequently made either out of metal or

The 1800s were a time of great exploration and revelation for much of the Western world. Ideas

powerful ships. It was also a great time for exploration and new trade opportunities for expanding
countries such as the United States of America, the Asian trading routes were rich with possibility.

Previously, Japan was split into my different sections each controlled by daimyo. This system
caused a lot of infighting between powers and made unification very difficult. The young Meiji
government realized this problem also and set out to fix it. One of the key issues of the
Tokugawa and the periods before it was Japan was very difficult to unify military and politically.
Each clan often fought for dominance and each manned their own military s with appointed
daimyo. This system of feudal domains made it nearly impossible for a proper political system.
Meiji and his advisors, with the goal of unification and centralization, quickly addressed this issue
and by July 1869 the feudal lords had been requested to give up their domains, and in 1871 these
domains were abolished and transformed into prefectures of a unified central state. (3) This
accomplishment of a unified central state led to many positive things that helped Japan modernize.
Foremost, the creation of a unified army that was once not previously possible. After the fall of the
domains in 1871, the Meiji government enacted a national army based on universal conscription
was created in 1872. (3) This was an enormous change as it not only made a national army but also
made commoner and samurai serve besides each other equally. The abolishment of the feudal
domain system also allowed Japan to

as a federal law that prevents group health plans and health insurance issuers that provide mental

Dante’s Inferno
Dante s Inferno The Evolving Relationship between Dante the Pilgrim and Virgil the Guide
In Dante s Inferno, the relationship between Dante the Pilgrim and Virgil the Guide is an ever
evolving one. By analyzing the transformation of this relationship as the two sojourn through the
circles of hell, one is able to learn more about the mindset of Dante the Poet. At the outset, Dante
is clearly subservient to Virgil, whom he holds in high esteem for his literary genius. However, as
the work progresses, Virgil facilitates Dante s spiritual enlightenment, so that by the end, Dante has
ascended to Virgil s spiritual level and has in many respects surpassed him. In Dante s journey with
respect to Virgil, one can see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see Dante s first step is to acknowledge his inferiority to Virgil; it is to him he owes his modest
authorial prowess. This sentiment is understandable indeed. It is only natural for Dante to have
nothing but the utmost respect for the great poet who, having preceded him by thirteen hundred
years, merits such treatment.
However, when we couple Dante s intense reverence for Virgil with his plea for his help, our
understanding of the strength of his faith is enhanced. The Pilgrim invokes Virgil thusly: O
famous sage, [help me] to stand against [that beast], / for she has made my blood and pulses
shudder (I.89 90). Perhaps one can account for this behavior by noting that Dante, being heavily
disoriented, upon seeing Virgil, whom he initially perceives as being a mere apparition, feels in the
Guide something supernatural which compels him to seek his aid in defeating the she wolf.
However, Dante s remarks and behavior fall perilously close to blasphemy. Instead of unduly
flattering Virgil (who by his own admission, was a man , and a pagan at that) and asking his
assistance, the ideal Christian monotheist would seek refuge in God. The concept of placing one s
complete trust in God, manifest in such exemplars of faith as Sir Gawain of Camelot and
Boccaccio s Griselda, is an essential component of Christianity. Indeed, Gawain s fall

the course of his story. Charlie Gordon, the main character of Daniel Keyes Flowers for Algernon,
was a thirty two year old man born with an unusually low level of intelligence. When Charlie was
approached by a pair of scientists with the proposition of undergoing a revolutionary surgery to
increase his intelligence, he readily agreed, thinking that the smarter he was, the more liked he
would be. This did not, however, seem to be the case. Charlie Gordon was happier when his I.Q.

of sixty eight, after the operation. Throughout the novel Flowers for Algernon, Charlie underwent a
serious transformation from an optimistic but dimwitted thirty two year old man with hope for
the future, to a cynical genius whose world was slowly beginning to fall apart, and then back to a
happier version of his original self. However, it is indisputable that Charlie was the happiest after
the operation, when his I.Q. had sunk back down to a measly sixty eight. His relationships thrived
in light of his recent life events, he was protected by the innocence and childlike naГЇvetГ© of his
mental state, and his learning ethic returned to a need to know basis. Intelligence has always been
something of incredible value, so much so that mentally retarded Charlie Gordon was approached
by scientists with the proposition of artificially increasing his intelligence. However, Daniel Keyes
Flowers for Algernon is the story of the life of Charlie Gordon, and if Charlie s tale is capable of
teaching the readers anything, it is that sometimes one s intellect comes at the sacrifice of his or
her livelihood. Perhaps Ernest Hemingway was correct: happiness and intelligence do not go

Kelly Clarkson Pain
What doesn t kill you makes you stronger. Or that s at least what Kelly Clarkson says. However, I
highly disagree. For two long, straight years, I endured agonizing pain for what the doctors
referred to as an idiopathic disorder. This experience gave me a totally new prospective on life. One
cloudy day, in early September, I was walking around our property. All of the sudden, a scrawny
orange catslowly and painfully crept up to me. I began to play with him for a while, but as I
started walking back towards my house the cat followed me. He followed me all the way up to
the door. I went inside and grabbed can of tuna and fed it to him. While the cat was eating I tried to
pet him. I regret that decision. The cat turned back, with surprisingly

Positive Benefits Of Youth Sports
According to the English Oxford Dictionary sports are activities involving physical exertion and
skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Sports
are something everyone can enjoy in some way or another, whether it be play competitively,
playing for fun, or watching them. Almost everyone has played a sport in their life, it could be
on a team or even in gym class. One of the most important things a parent can do is get their kids
involved in sports at a young age, even if they don t stick with it in the long run. As I said in my
1.7 current event, kids participating in athletics has decreased by 8 percent according to Aspen
data, this is detrimental to kids futures. Youth sports teach kids many lessons and can help prepare
them for life and future careers.
Youth sports teach kids valuable life skills, one being teamwork. When a child begins playing on
a sports team, they learn social skills and how to cooperate with others in order to work towards a
common goal. This skill is beneficial for a child to learn at a young age. When they begin school,
they need to have good social skills and they need to work with other students in group activities,
projects, etc. This skill will also be a necessity in most work places. In a lot of workplaces,
workers combine their skills to reach a common goal. Teamwork skills include guiding others,
participating, and commitment, which are all skills you can learn from playing youth sports.

Birth Of A Baby Is The Most Amazing And Miraculous...
Giving birth to a baby is the most amazing and miraculous experiences for a mother and her
loved ones. Every woman s birth story is different and full of excitement. However, the process
from the moment a woman knows that she s pregnant to being in the delivering room is very
critical to both her and the new born baby. Prenatal care is extremely important and it can impact
greatly the quality of life for the baby. In this paper, the topic of giving birth will be discussed
thoroughly by describing the stories of two mothers who gave birth in different decades and see
how their prenatal cares are different from each other with correlation with the advancement of
modern medicine. Christine Le, an accountant lived in Flushing, New York, gave birth to a
healthy baby Nathan on January 29th, 2010. She found out that she was pregnant with her first
child when her period was late. She had the routine pre natal care starting at 12 weeks and
delivered at 40 weeks in a hospital with the present of her husband, Robert, and the in laws.

Summary Of Brunelleschi s Dome
Throughout the book Brunelleschi s Dome, Filippo has to overcome others to make his ideas
become a reality. First he loses the bronze door competition to his competition Lorenzo. Then he
has to fight against the Opera del Duomo to allow his model to be used for the Dome. He
continued to fight for he designs with trying to flood Lucca, and building II Badalone, both being
fails. After those fails, and the Domes set backs, the Operabegan to lose faith in Filippo, but that
wouldn t stop him. He continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the
lanterns after having Antonio steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to
others. He feared that they would steal his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told
anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded and only shared the very minimal with his friends.
This allowed him an upper hand above his competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce
his work, let alone understand how he came up with the ideas he had, making much of his work a
mystery.
The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it
was built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King
achieved his aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and
everything that he did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported
the claim that Filippo was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud
Florentine, Michelangelo claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In
fact, he did not even equal it... (Page 163)
King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written
only the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated,
he would always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what
someone else said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all
characters an equal chance to prove themselves. As seen best with Lorenzo, King praises him first
with Lorenzo s doors, but then he expresses Lorenzo s incompetence towards the wooden

Dickens uses hand imagery to develop several of his major and minor characters. The characters
range from Drummle (Pip s adversary) all the way to the main character, Pip himself. Drummle is
depicted as a man of shady character. During a conversation at the Jaggers estate, Drummle hides

The True Beauty Of Music
The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we the musicians
are the messengers . Music has been the source of comfort for many people around the world
who are battling hardships; it helps connect people who share similar experiences and aspire to
share the same message together. In the Caribbean region, they all shared some fundamental
experiences; in particular, the history of slavery. Enslaved people suffered extreme punishments,
diseases, poverty, and rape. Their identities were stripped away from them and they were treated
as a property of the European owners. In the twentieth century, after slavery has been finally
eradicated, the aboriginals were weary of discrimination and the horrific living conditions they
still suffered post independence. Therefore, they decided to fight for their rights to speak and
voice an opinion. In the Anglo Caribbean region, music played a major part in people s lives. The
Caribbean people turned to Black Nationalism and began practicing their own spiritual beliefs and
voicing their opinions to send a message through their songs and music. Nations in Latin America
were beginning a process of rapid urbanization. Cultural nationalism was widespread and expressed
itself in musical nationalism . Music developed greatly after independence, art forms like Reggae,
diaspora, Samba, Tango, and Calypso that were established in the twentieth century are still
practiced and celebrated today all around the world.

Essay On The Sandman
The Sandman, A Hand crafted Nightmare A bedtime story is meant to guide children into a

According to a friend of his, the late internationally respected animator Paul Berry started his
career in his home country the United Kingdom. There, he had worked on The Wind in The

The Last Of The Mohicans Response
Critical Response Paper
Written in 1826 and directed in 1915 respectively, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore
Cooper and The Birth of a Nation by D.W. Griffith were foundational in influencing both the
American novel and film industry. Consequently, they are also two of the most controversial texts
in American history as they epitomize racism and the desire for an all white society. Cooper s
vision of an emerging American national character/identity is similar to Griffith s obvious wish
for a white supremacist paradise in the sense that both men created world s in which whiteness is

The Importance Of Caritas As A Catholic Social Organisation

Catholic social organisation.
Caritas Internationalis is a catholic organisation and social service. Their mission is to work to

organisations in over 200 countries. And I will identify Caritas in Thailand because Thailand is
my homeland and Thailand has a lot of poor people. Many people in Thailand need the helping

Thailand is not only help or service people, they teach about the Catholic teaching to the people

The Study Of Gender Inequality
The Study of Gender Inequality in Islamic Iran
Early in the term I read the book Iran Awakening by Shirin Ebadi and grew fascinated with her
account of life in Iran before, during, and after the Islamic Revolution. In this touching memoir, she
describes the 1979 revolutionary takeover of Ayatollah Khomeini, who overthrew the shah and
established an Islamic State, fusing together religious and political life. The result was a unique
combination of theocratic and democratic authority, completely unprecedented in history. Through
the implementation of sharia law, the new regime took a country which had been gradually
westernizing and forced upon it a process of complete and immediate Islamization, much to the
detriment of women who, since that time, have fallen victim to institutionalized gender inequality
and oppression. Through this rich and compelling story, I became interested in the relationship
between religion and gender inequality in Iran.
In order to gain a full understanding of the position of women in Islamic Iran, researchers have used
legal analysis, in depth interviews, content analysis, and sociodemographic data to study women s
status through a variety of perspectives. Over time, they have uncovered patterns in education,
employment, reproductive health, and women s legal rights and obligations, which testify to a
deeply embedded culture of institutionalized gender inequality. At the same time, many have been
surprised to discover a strong and resilient

Summary Of The Last Of The Mohicans
Throughout Cooper s novel the reader and Hawkeye are provided with many oppositions and
situations based on Culture, Race, and Geography that creates many tensions throughout the
novel. The Last of the Mohicans tends to be centered on the Character Hawkeye, a pathfinder
and pioneer that links the wilderness and civilization as mediation. The text itself is driven to be
a generic paradox and an encompassing narrative, the history with romance and the disagreement
between fact and fiction. Cooper uses a blend of facts and fiction in many scenarios. The third
year of the Indian and French War The Last of The Mohicans suppresses the boundaries or
outlines that divide literature and history in order to create a narrative of American, within which
the real man can be understood. Hawkeye, who is so to say a typical American is between the
fiction and fact boundary. He links the people and the actual events of the period of time to fit right
in to Coopers genre. The Indian Nations, Fort William Henry massacre, Colonel Munroe, and
Marquis de Montcalm are all based on fact but then Cooper intertwines significant romance.
Coopers chosen genre, historical romance, is based on the movement between the stages of cultural
development or hostile civilizations. It allows cultural self awareness and analysis, which allows
the narrative expression. In a traditional narrative love is a quest rather than a cultural analysis. The
texts movement tracks the hero as he or she enters the unknown

The Problem Of Traffic Lights
The idea for traffic lights began in the mid 1800s when a system was essential to sustain the
amassed flow of horse drawn traffic flow. By 1868, a signal was put in by the intersection of
George St and Bridge St, which is close to the Parliament. The installment provided pedestrians a
safe crossing, and an answer to officials that need to sustain traffic.
The semaphore involves a signal of a tall post with movable arm. When the arm is aligned
sideways, it mean stop. After dark, a gas lamp was lit at the top. The green lenses means to go,
and red means stop. Originally, the signal is controlled by hand, and the officers decided when
the signal to be changed according to traffic flow. They would also whistle to remind drivers,
when the signal will change. However, this method turned out to be hazardous. In 1869, a leak in
one of the gas lines led to a traffic signal explosion. The incident severely wounding the policeman
operating it, and led to the semaphore project to be terminated in London.
In America, the semaphore were be rolled out to public because there were more motorists
travelling on the road. However, many problems arose due to officers finding it to be difficult to
sustain the traffic congestion. Some cities started to install traffic towers, which allowed officers to
have a clearer view to monitor the traffic in an elevated platform.
In the early 1900s, the automobiles just gain popularity throughout the world and traffic becomes

The Discovery Of A Business Model Innovation
The disruptive business models are those that surprisingly manage top to make new markets and
disrupt the existing markets. To discover these innovations, it requires a level of innovativeness and
open mindedness that will enable one to create new influential innovations. The discovery of a
business model innovation usually starts with customer value propositions and customer segment.
The business model brings about logic and provides vital data that demonstrates how a company
can formulate itself and provide valuable input to customers. Furthermore, it facilitates the setup of
revenue allocation, the costs and the various profit margins that the business delivers (Colovic,
2012).Furthermore, these different issues are also interrelated and, therefore, offer a competitive
advantage besides bringing in huge profit margins. Business models also provide a business design
and outlay that defines how the particular company can convert the various payments received into
profits, and help the company to excel as an innovation and as a business model, as well as to
understand the different business design options according to the customer needs and the various
technological advances. To develop a successful business model, one has to ensure that the
competitive advantage of the company remains a permanent part of it and that this model is
difficult to duplicate and redo. The business model brings about the financial and organizational

Racial Differences In Ta-Nehisi Coates s Sonny s Blues
In Between the World and Me, Ta Nehisi Coates depicts how an African American man should
behave in America based on other people s perception of their race. In the essay, he speaks to his
son about how a black man is obligated to be twice as good and how a black man takes
responsibility for another black man. Coates highlights the expectations of black peopleand the
struggle to go beyond what society has labeled them as because of their differences in skin color
and the stereotypes that the majority has perceived them as. In relation to social differences,
James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues, expresses how differences in livelihood metal in between
relationships and growth. The narrator in the story fails to broaden his mindset that his brother,
Sonny, can change from his drug addiction and that his students have more a chance to end up
like Sonny rather than making a positive impact on their lives. My own claim is that alien stories
have hidden meanings of cultural and racial differences to the extent of showing how stereotypes
negatively alter one s mindset of how they will behave towards another group of people because of
the differences they hold. I believe that an individual thinks they have superiority over another and
that is why negative connotations are made. Stanley Weinbaum s A Martian Odyssey, tells the story
of a man named Jarvis who meets an extraterrestrial named Tweel. Although they have physical
differences, Jarvis and Tweel get along. However, Harrison

The Organizational Structure And Leadership Styles
When working for an organization, there are many variables that will determine how successful
the company is. There are also many variables that can play in the downfall of an organization.
The organizational structure and leadership styles are vital to the success of any company. The
background of a leaders values and culture, as well as the culture within an organization, will
determine the success of the company itself. It will also determine the type of interaction and
quality of work produced by the employees. Managementplays a vital role in determining if the
organization will be successful and prosper. Managers are not only decision makers, but also
exercise considerable influence through formal and informal communication, role modeling, and
other powerful means (Nahavandi, Denhardt, Denhardt Arittiguteta, 2015). There are different
leadershipstyles to consider when placing a person in a position of leadership. Toxic leadership is
a management issue that affects the organizational culture and employees job satisfaction. This
type of toxic leadership exists everywhere, in both the military and civilian sectors of the world.
The cultural mindset of these types of leaders has a lot to do with not being able to attain their
self awareness. This essay will explain the characteristics of a toxic leader, how toxic leadership is
detrimental to the organization, and ways to overcome a toxic leader.

Sustainable Buildings Have you ever wondered, how can I make my school greener? Well, there
is many ways to make your school greener, you just have to think ВЁGREEN.ВЁ Many buildings
aren t doing enough to become greener ,or just don t get what it means or don t know how to start
to get sustainable. Being sustainable means to have some kind of maintenance, or control on
something, defending a particular thing against a threat. Like mcdonald s for example, most of them
do not have recycling bins,or most of factories release lots of toxic gases into the air and that s
when air pollution takes place,so why not start something to fix these things. And with the help of
the Clean Air Act (which states that the government will help out on any... Show more content on

This not only makes us sustainable but also makes us neighborhood friendly. pg.4Greenhouses
According to Wikipedia, Greenhouses, a third and final way to make a building more sustainable
is that we can build a greenhouse to grow our own crops and we can benefit from this because it
cost a lot to serve about 500 students but with a greenhouse we can get our food for free. We can
also sell the food we grow and with that money we can buy wind turbines, and in fact they re
pretty cheap to build! Actually a group of 5 boys can do it,why can t you? pg.5 Conclusion
There are many ways that us humans can do to make a building more sustainable. Maybe we can
just start with the little things, and in the near future when we have more advanced technology we
can invent even greener inventions, but it all starts with you, together we can generate, create, and

Mcgee Cake Co Essay example
Minicase The McGee Cake Company
1.What are the advantages and disadvantages of changing the company organization from a sole
proprietorship to a LLC?
The McGee Cake Company, currently operating as a sole proprietorship, may benefit from
forming a limited liability company (LLC). An LLC is a comparatively new type of business
entity. With an LLC there are reduced legal formalities in comparison to setting up a corporation. In
addition, unlike a corporation, the McGees could set up an LLC yet remain the sole owners of
the company. Another advantage as the owners of an LLC, the McGees are taxable only for
personal income and not for the income of your LLC. Therefore, they would not pay double
income tax. An LLC also has a long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a corporation, the McGees may be able to find new sources of funds for business
development. Many people, including shareholders, could invest in the corporation. Finally, the
corporation is the most reliable and trusted form of business entity. A possible downside to
incorporation, the McGees may have to put up some of their private assets as a guarantee for
the repayment of funds to financial institutions, if they are not found eligible for payment of
money. Incorporation is not a small ordeal; it involves many legal formalities, laws, agreement
documents, etc. It is necessary to prepare and revue all these documents carefully. Additionally,
setting up the corporation will be an expensive task. There are good and bad aspects to a
corporation in reference to taxes. With a corporation, the McGees will be taxable for self income,
as well as for the corporation s revenue. However they will enjoy personal tax credits as with the
sole proprietorship.
3.Ultimately, what action would you recommend the company undertake? Why?
After reviewing the pros and cons to LLC and corporation business structures, as well as the
business strategy of the McGee Cake Company, I would recommend to Doc and Lyn that they
form a corporation to move the company forward. Although initial set of a corporation up may be
complicated and have some cost, the potential for the company is great. The scope of the
possibility is what makes the corporation

Nt1310 Unit 6 Paper
In order to duplicate the 8 Вј May 00 05 bond given the situation that it was not called, the
synthetic bond of 12 May 05 and May 05 STRIP should have the same coupon rate with the
original bond. Since STRIPs are zero coupon, we can get the weight of 12 May 05 in the synthetic
bond simply by dividing 8.25 by 12. The result we get is 0.6875, which means we should buy
68.75% of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond.
Suppose the total amount of synthetic bond is $100, we buy $68.75 of 12 May 05, and this will
provide us a cash flow of $72.875 (0.12/2*68.75+68.75=72.875) at the last payment date. However,
the original bond provides $104.125 (0.0825/2*100+100=104.125) at the last payment date. The
difference between them is $104.125 72.875=$31.25 and this implies that we should buy 31.25%
of May 2005 STRIP. In this way, we can create the synthetic bond for 8.25 May 00 05 if not called
by buying 68.75% 12 May 05 and 31.25% May 05 STRIP.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
After dividing 8.25 by 8.875, we find out that we should buy 92.96% of 8.875 May 00. And as a
result, 7.04% of May 00 STRIP should be bought.
Cost to buy at ask = 0.9296*104.5 + 0.0704*46.66= $100.43
Cost to buy at bid = 0.9296*104.38 + 0.0704*46.25= $100.27
For investors who own the 8.25 May 00 05 bond, the current bid price for 8.25 May 00 05 bond is
101.25. To compute the theoretical price we have to use bid prices: (129.71875*0.6875) +
(29.90625*0.3125) = $98.5273438. This shows that 8.25 May 00 05 bond is overpriced. The
profit earned is 101.123 98.5273 = $2.5977. The investors should sell this bond and replace it with
any of the undervalued synthetic bonds preferably the first synthetic bond

Multilayer Structure Of Phospholipids
In comparison to phospholipids, surfactants offer the advantages of being relatively inexpensive

Niosome formulations typically require cholesterol and other membrane stabilizers to prevent

How Did Europe s Breaking Point Dbq
The Great War : Europe s Breaking Point An assassination that threw an entire continent into
war, a brutal bloodshed that stretched over four year, and ten million lives lost. The morale of
entire countries beaten into a tired submission. This is was what WWI left for Europe at it s
close in 1918. And these are the most popular details of this war. And although WWII is often
spoke of more often and televised more than it s predecessor, it s importance and relevance does
not waver. If it were not for this war, entire empires may still be in place. One could argue that if
it were not for this war, Russia may still be under imperial rule. This one war was a spark in a

All of these countries were well off, Britain especially, with the Industrial Revolution increasing
exports and Imperialism producing resources needed to keep their economy superior to other
countries. In the middle of this alliance, there lay another. It consisted of Germany, Italy, and
Austria Hungary. The Balkans to the south were considered neutral territory in 1914 (Document
A), but the peoples of these lands were vastly unhappy. One such people were the Serbians. Now,
the Serbians were not happy with how their lives were, and dreamed of revolution. So, a group
known as The Black Hand devised a plan that they believed would bring the change they wanted
to Serbia; killing the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Now when this happened, Austria
Hungary responded by declaring war on Serbia. However, when this did this, they alerted the
Triple Entente. Russia, which was tied to the Triple Entente, was on good terms with Serbia. And
so Russia declares war on Austria Hungary, which causes Germany to join in, and invade
Belgium. And so Britain, who was a friend of Belgium, declared war on Germany, and then France
joined because England joined. So, in effect, because of one assassination, because of one death, all
of Europe bursted into a long, bloody engagement in which ten million people

Nuremberg Trial In Criminal Justice
The history of international trials is largely limited to the Nuremberg Tribunals and the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. However, these limited historical
precedents, with an imperfect body of jurisprudence from which to draw, afford one objective: the
search for justice. This justice, however, is victim to the political will that drives trials (Goldstone,
quoted in Historical Evolution From Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court ). Thus,
although justice is usually the preeminent focus for a post conflict society, it is also the most
difficult to attain (Hayner, 8). From a different perspective, one may see the most significant
limitation of international trials to be their subordination to international political will.... Show more

  • 2. World Order Research Paper The world order, in general, refers to the economic, political or social state of affairs prevailing in the world at a given time and the corresponding effect this has on the different relationships countries have among each other. In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact changing and that we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To prove this, I will analyse in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant party. Firstly, I will compare the military and economic power of the US and China and come to the conclusion that the US is the more dominant power. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of foreign policy and political power the US commands more soft power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could, therefore, be argued that these increased political tensions may cause the US to lose key allies and in turn help China become the more favoured country. However, in recent times, China has proven to be arrogant, aggressive and rude when it comes to executing its foreign policy. Many countries, including Japan and India, claim to find it increasingly challenging to cooperate with China and this has done nothing but push said countries towards the US and cemented the US s global power. Therefore, it is clear that even in terms of soft power, the US scores much higher than China and as a result there will be no shift in power which re emphasizes the fact that the world order is not changing. In conclusion, I have argued that the world order is not changing. In order to prove this, I have first established that in terms of hard power (militarily and economically) the US is the more dominant power and as a result there appears to be no power shift. Furthermore, I have shown that even in terms of soft power (using foreign aid and foreign policy) the US still scores ahead of China, once again indicating no signs of a power ... • 3. Information Processing With Population Codes Essay Just to start off, we are going to go over a quick background on my paper and some terms to get a better understanding beforehand. The paper I was assigned is called, Information Processing with Population Codes. It is written by Alexandre Pouget, Peter Dayan, and Richard Zemel. Alexandre Pouget is a professor at the NeuroscienceCentre at the University of Geneva. There he leads the computational cognitive neuroscience laboratory; his research focuses on theories of representation and computation within Neural Circuits. Alexandre Pouget is the lead author of this paper. This paper focuses on neural coding and population codes, which are heavily interrelated. Neural Coding is a field in Cognitive Science that is concerned with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where the start of population coding formed. I personally find it amazing that we can compare two separate things that are unlike in many ways such as computers and our nervous system. There are so many things that are similar even though they are so unlike, such as there is one thing controlling the whole system like in our bodies our nervous system controls us. An example of the population coding that is presented within the paper is place cells within rats. We are able to use these cells to show the animals location with regards to a centred reference frame in the surrounding environment of the rat. In this experiment, they use a small maze, each area is characterized by one of these place cells . Within this area there is a small region of the maze that is triggered and sends a response. Through observing the rats, they saw that there was a spatial overlap between the fields and thus, they concluded that the cells would respond to any location that they are given. They also found that visual features were also encoded within these population codes, for example, orientation, colour, direction of motion, and depth. So far, it has been shown that our environmental influences effect our behaviour so heavily. Population encoding is very strongly rooted, if one cell is damaged it won t affect the already encoded representation. Just as if one part of a computer goes, most of the time the remaining parts of the device ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. How Did Pope John Paul II Have A Free Response To Religion As displayed in the film, Pope John II , we can see that Pope John Paul II shows many characteristics of a faith fulfilled man such as, that it is risky and requires a free response. I think a main part in the movie where his faith is risked is when he denies his girlfriend of pushing their relationship into something more. He denied her offer. I feel like her had the calling of Godto him to become a priest earlier and that a family and marriage was his thing. He knew that God wanted him to spread the word of God and help spread His ways rather than creating more children of God. he probably had to think twice on what he truly wanted for his future. There are a lot of styes when you think about something about this. He truly risked a lot but he knew whatever he chose his relationship with God would be strong. Pope John Paul II delayed a free response early in his life when the Nazi s took over hsi town in Poland during the late 1930 s. • 7. Thomas Hobbes And Social Contract Theory The emergence of state as an institution has been explained in detail by Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Rousseau with the help of the concept of social contract. In the primitive times, when there was no Government and no authority to control and regulate the people, many sections of the society experienced hardships and exploitation. In order to overcome these hardships, the Soveriegn came into existence as a result of the mutual agrrement among the people to obey an authority. Social Contract Theory of Hobbes: Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher of the 17th century. He lived during the time period when people demanded constitutional monarchy in place of absolute monarchy in England. However, Hobbes suported absolute monarchy through his concept of social contract which we find in his book Leviathan . According to him, in the ancient times, mankind lived in a hypothetical state of nature where man was greedy, selfish, quarrelsome and aggressive. He has described the state of nature as war of all against all . As per him, man would go up to any extent in order to fulfil his needs and desire. He draws a very gloomy picture of human race. Hence, in order to overcome this, an authority with absolute power should come into position. Man has no rights except the right for self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that monarchy should be blocked. Like Hobbes, he also adopted the theory of social contract, but the only difference lies in the state of nature. According to Locke, the human nature was not greedy but instead peaceful, happy, nice and helpful. People also followed the natural laws and rights. But there is still a need for authority because there exists many inconviniences. He believed only in giving limited power to the authority unlike Hobbes. The main role of the authority is to secure the life, liberty and property of its people. He differentiated between state and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Finance, Banking And Finance Industry When you drive up to your bank or walk up to your teller, your main goal is to complete your transaction and move on with your day. The last thing on your mind is how that transaction is taking place. You don t care what happens behind the scenes as long as your money is where it needs to be and is safe. As the banking and financeindustry has transformed, so has the process of how your money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws designed to protect consumers, banks, and the economy as a whole. As you will learn, the history of the banking industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so in the last century with the advance of technology. It only makes sense that those lawmakers must continue to update and invent new regulation to further protect those interested parties. My goal is to demonstrate just how rapidly and radically the finance industry has changed and how new elements being introduced to finance and banking will adapt the industry and the regulation. In the world of finance and financial services, banking has been around longer than any other segment of that world. For more than two millenniums, bankers have served as money changers who aided people in exchanging foreign for local currencies. As this practice grew and many began to throw their funds into the banking system, the services that banks performed multiplied. Loans were granted and bankers collected interest. Most of ... The desiccant chosen for the analysis is aqueous solution of calcium chloride. The effect of different operating variables on performance of both dehumidifier and regenerator are studied. The parameters studied are the effect of mass air flow rate, air inlet temperature, and desiccant inlet temperature. The practicability of dehumidification of supply air by the desiccant loop of the hybrid system is demonstrated. A S Alosaimy is experimented to Concentration of desiccant solution regenerated by solar energy. Experimental results show that solution with 30% concentration can be regenerated up to 50% using solar energy. It was found that as the regeneration temperature was increased, moisture absorbing capacity of air was increased. As the regeneration temperature was increased, the dehumidification rate in the absorber was increased. The moisture removal rate was increased with the increasing in regeneration. Dante’s Inferno Dante s Inferno The Evolving Relationship between Dante the Pilgrim and Virgil the Guide In Dante s Inferno, the relationship between Dante the Pilgrim and Virgil the Guide is an ever evolving one. By analyzing the transformation of this relationship as the two sojourn through the circles of hell, one is able to learn more about the mindset of Dante the Poet. At the outset, Dante is clearly subservient to Virgil, whom he holds in high esteem for his literary genius. However, as the work progresses, Virgil facilitates Dante s spiritual enlightenment, so that by the end, Dante has ascended to Virgil s spiritual level and has in many respects surpassed him. In Dante s journey with respect to Virgil, one can see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see Dante s first step is to acknowledge his inferiority to Virgil; it is to him he owes his modest authorial prowess. This sentiment is understandable indeed. It is only natural for Dante to have nothing but the utmost respect for the great poet who, having preceded him by thirteen hundred years, merits such treatment. However, when we couple Dante s intense reverence for Virgil with his plea for his help, our understanding of the strength of his faith is enhanced. The Pilgrim invokes Virgil thusly: O famous sage, [help me] to stand against [that beast], / for she has made my blood and pulses shudder (I.89 90). Perhaps one can account for this behavior by noting that Dante, being heavily disoriented, upon seeing Virgil, whom he initially perceives as being a mere apparition, feels in the Guide something supernatural which compels him to seek his aid in defeating the she wolf. However, Dante s remarks and behavior fall perilously close to blasphemy. Instead of unduly flattering Virgil (who by his own admission, was a man , and a pagan at that) and asking his assistance, the ideal Christian monotheist would seek refuge in God. The concept of placing one s complete trust in God, manifest in such exemplars of faith as Sir Gawain of Camelot and Boccaccio s Griselda, is an essential component of Christianity. After those fails, and the Domes set backs, the Operabegan to lose faith in Filippo, but that wouldn t stop him. He continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the lanterns after having Antonio steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to others. He feared that they would steal his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded and only shared the very minimal with his friends. This allowed him an upper hand above his competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce his work, let alone understand how he came up with the ideas he had, making much of his work a mystery. The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it was built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King achieved his aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and everything that he did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported the claim that Filippo was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud Florentine, Michelangelo claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In fact, he did not even equal it... (Page 163) King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written only the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated, he would always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what someone else said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all characters an equal chance to prove themselves. Not only have there been few female writers, but few female characters of substance have explored the universe, battled aliens, or discovered new technologies. • 39. The Study Of Gender Inequality The Study of Gender Inequality in Islamic Iran Early in the term I read the book Iran Awakening by Shirin Ebadi and grew fascinated with her account of life in Iran before, during, and after the Islamic Revolution. In this touching memoir, she describes the 1979 revolutionary takeover of Ayatollah Khomeini, who overthrew the shah and established an Islamic State, fusing together religious and political life. The result was a unique combination of theocratic and democratic authority, completely unprecedented in history. Through the implementation of sharia law, the new regime took a country which had been gradually westernizing and forced upon it a process of complete and immediate Islamization, much to the detriment of women who, since that time, have fallen victim to institutionalized gender inequality and oppression. Through this rich and compelling story, I became interested in the relationship between religion and gender inequality in Iran. In order to gain a full understanding of the position of women in Islamic Iran, researchers have used legal analysis, in depth interviews, content analysis, and sociodemographic data to study women s status through a variety of perspectives. Over time, they have uncovered patterns in education, employment, reproductive health, and women s legal rights and obligations, which testify to a deeply embedded culture of institutionalized gender inequality. At the same time, many have been surprised to discover a strong and resilient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another potential sector of the casino industry is the availability of Internet gambling. The Last of the Mohicans tends to be centered on the Character Hawkeye, a pathfinder and pioneer that links the wilderness and civilization as mediation. The text itself is driven to be a generic paradox and an encompassing narrative, the history with romance and the disagreement between fact and fiction. Cooper uses a blend of facts and fiction in many scenarios. The third year of the Indian and French War The Last of The Mohicans suppresses the boundaries or outlines that divide literature and history in order to create a narrative of American, within which the real man can be understood. The Indian Nations, Fort William Henry massacre, Colonel Munroe, and Marquis de Montcalm are all based on fact but then Cooper intertwines significant romance. Coopers chosen genre, historical romance, is based on the movement between the stages of cultural development or hostile civilizations. Coates highlights the expectations of black peopleand the struggle to go beyond what society has labeled them as because of their differences in skin color and the stereotypes that the majority has perceived them as. In relation to social differences, James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues, expresses how differences in livelihood metal in between relationships and growth. The narrator in the story fails to broaden his mindset that his brother, Sonny, can change from his drug addiction and that his students have more a chance to end up like Sonny rather than making a positive impact on their lives. My own claim is that alien stories have hidden meanings of cultural and racial differences to the extent of showing how stereotypes negatively alter one s mindset of how they will behave towards another group of people because of the differences they hold. Since STRIPs are zero coupon, we can get the weight of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond simply by dividing 8.25 by 12. The result we get is 0.6875, which means we should buy 68.75% of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond. Suppose the total amount of synthetic bond is $100, we buy $68.75 of 12 May 05, and this will provide us a cash flow of $72.875 (0.12/2*68.75+68.75=72.875) at the last payment date. The difference between them is $104.125 72.875=$31.25 and this implies that we should buy 31.25% of May 2005 STRIP.
