Health Campaign Essay
Health Campaign Final Essay The health behavior that was chosen to promote during our campaign
was yoga. We encouraged students, staff, and faculty members at Knox College to partake in yoga
classes offered by the school in order to reduce stress and target a particular health/illness outcome.
The main physical health/illness outcome targeted in this campaign was reduced blood pressure. Yoga
is also seen to improve cardiovascular health. We chose to focus on the benefits of yoga to improve
blood pressure and cardiovascular health instead of just one or the other because most of the studies
that we found while researching mentioned both decreased blood pressure and improved
cardiovascular health occurring from practicing yoga. In Fan, ... Show more content on

The results of this study showed significant improvement in quality of life, anxiety, and blood pressure
in the meditation group. While in controls, quality of life deteriorated and there was no improvement
in blood pressure. In Satin, Jillian R., et al., Yoga and Psychophysiological Determinants of
Cardiovascular Health: Comparing Yoga Practitioners, Runners, and Sedentary Individuals , this cross
sectional study examined the cardiovascular health markers in long term practitioners of yoga (yogis),
runners, and sedentary individuals. The researchers compared physiological, psychological, and
lifestyle variables associated with cardiovascular health across groups. Results showed that Yogis and
runners showed favorable profiles compared to sedentary individuals on heart rate, heart rate
variability, depression, perceived stress, and cigarette smoking. Runners and male yogis showed
superior aerobic fitness compared to the sedentary group. Yogis demonstrated a lower respiration rate
compared to sedentary individuals and were more likely to refrain from eating meat compared to other
groups. Yogis and runners demonstrated several cardiovascular health advantages over sedentary
individuals. These three studies support our campaign specifically targeting our physical

The Outsider In Othello
Due to Othello s heroic qualities and military proficiency, he was partially accepted into the Venetian
society. A colored man who has traveled the world and have been through many battles earned the title
as the military commander of the Venetian military. Although he is accepted into the Venetian society,
his status is pretty complicated to say the lease as he is looked at as both an insider and outsider.
Othello unintentionally puts himself into a position where he was standing out more than an outsider
should, causing others to be jealous and despise him, as it lead him to his downfall.
As tough as Othello is shown to be, he should also be to blame for his downfall due to his own sense
of insecurity. His inability to be able to control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is obvious to him that he is a man of color in a society that is dominated by White people who
prides themselves on money and title. Iago capitalizes on this as he is constantly referring Othello s
blackness through animalistic imagery that degrades Othello as a person. Not only does Othello
acknowledges his status as an outsider he often times struggles to come to terms with the fact that he
cannot do anything about it. One thing that Othello tries to do is ensure himself that his own beliefs
will help him overcome what the people of Venetian think of him; Not I; I must be found. /My parts,
my title, and my perfect soul /Shall manifest me rightly. Is it they? (Act I.ii.30/32). Othello s is always
putting his trust in everyone which is a reflection of his belief that the best way to help overcome
discrimination is to let his actions define who he is, not his skin color. Although he tries his best to fit
in, the reality is that Othello knows that he can only do so much because he is an outsider to the
Venetian society. The fact of the matter is that he is a colored soldier in a society defined by wealth
and title, as White people dominate

Nuclear Energy Is Energy Generated From The Fission Or...
Nuclear Energy Jason Venturini April 6, 2016 What is nuclear energy? Nuclear energy is energy
generated from the fission or fusion of enriched uranium. The power plants in which this type of
energy is made are called nuclear power plants, but have many variations in how this energy is
achieved. Almost all reactors use heat generated from the enriched uranium pellets to bring water to a
boil, and use steam powered generators to create power. In Canada, the type of reactor used is called a
Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), a method created by Canada in the 1950 s. In the next
sections the inner workings of the PHWR method will be examined and its safety explained. How
does PHWR work? As mentioned before, many nuclear reactors use enriched uranium. PHWR,
however, does not for cost reasons as enrichment facilities for uranium are complicated, expensive and
the PHWR method is much more efficient. It avoids the usage of enriched uranium through heavy
water as a coolant instead of light water. Canada specific reactors, called CANDU (CANada
Deuterium Uranium) reactors use 30 40% less fuel than light water based reactors. With the benefits
of using heavy water out of the way, the complicated process of creating energy from small uranium
pellets the size of half an AA battery will be explained as simply as possible. The process starts with
hundreds of pellets being incased in metal, welded into small cylinders and inserted into a large tank
called the calandria . Nuclear

Designing A Windows Registry Autorun
MSC.BAT was used to initialize the persistent installation of the other two binaries, NTLHAFD.GCP
and NTSVCHOST.EXE, and cleanup the installation. A Windows registry Autorun key was set to
provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher
and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory
load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft
domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the
victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader
would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the
decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the
designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on
disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory.
In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the
malware into believing it was on the internet.
Red October s Second Stage Command and Control and Loaded Modules After successfully
establishing a connection to one of the three hardcoded Command and Control servers built into every
installation of Red October, the backdoor was capable of loading additional modules. Some of these

Different Theories of Motivation
Introduction
Motivation is a reason or set or reasons for engaging in a particular behavior, especially human
behavior as studied in psychology and neuropsychology. The reasons may include basic needs (e.g.,
food, water, shelter) or an object, goal, state of being, or ideal that is desirable, which may or may not
be viewed as positive, such as seeking a state of being in which pain is absent. The motivation for a
behavior may also be attributed to less apparent reasons such as altruism or morality.
Advantages of Motivation
A positive motivation philosophy and practice should improve productivity, quality and service.
Motivation helps people to:

achieve goals

gain a positive perspective

create the power to change

build ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(See also Goal Theory.)In work environments, money is typically viewed as an important goal (having
food, clothes etc.) may well be more powerful than the direct motivation provided by an enjoyable
workplace.
Coercion
The most obvious form of motivation is coercion, where the avoidance of pain or other negative
consequences has an immediate effect. Extreme use of coercion is considered slavery. While coercion
is considered morally reprehensible in many philosophies, it is widely practiced on prisoners, students
in mandatory schooling, within the nuclear family unit (on children), and in the form of conscription.
Critics of modern capitalism charge that without social safety networks, wage slavery is inevitable.
However, many capitalists such as Ayn Rand have been very vocal against coercion
[citation needed]
. Successful coercion sometimes can take priority over other types of motivation. Self coercion is
rarely substantially negative (typically only negative in the sense that it avoids a positive, such as
undergoing an expensive dinner or a period of relaxation), however it is interesting in that it illustrates
how lower levels of motivation may be sometimes tweaked to satisfy higher ones.
Self control
The self control of motivation is increasingly understood as a subset of emotional intelligence; a
person may be highly intelligent according to a more conservative definition (as measured by many
intelligence tests), yet

Case Study Of Zara Group
Zara Group study case
In this example can be seen how information and communication technologies (ICTs) influence on
knowledge management processes within organizations and its influence on innovation and co
learning. The use of ICTs is increasing because nowadays the business environment is becoming more
dynamic and complex and new strategic resources are needed for taking competitive advantages.
(María Teresa GARCÍA ÁLVAREZ, p.994)
The unit of analysis is the Zara Group, which belongs to the Spanish company Inditex. It is a very
global company which has been selected due to it does an intensive application of ICTs in its
processes, mainly manufacturing and distribution ones, as well as its logistical processes. Because of
this, it can stand out among its competitors. (María Teresa GARCÍA ÁLVAREZ, p.998)

Socialization means transforming tacit knowledge on another form of tacit knowledge. In other words,
understanding tacit knowledge that is derived from interaction between people. Here, the concept of

to make it possible to learn by other people. Combination is related to transform explicit to explicit
knowledge. It is based on the structuring of different explicit knowledge for creating new knowledge
and eventually, internalization consists of moving from explicit to tacit knowledge, to make it your
own knowledge. (María Teresa GARCÍA ÁLVAREZ,

Research Paper About An Event That Changed My Life
A lot of people experience events that change their lives; some are more difficult to deal with. An
event that changed my life was moving from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. I lived I Pennsylvania for
11 years after my parents split up. I have currently been living in New Jersey with my dad for about 2
years. Moving at this age was very difficult because it is hard to make friends with new people since
everyone already has a group of friends. It was hard to fit into a new group of friends so I tried out for

Rainbow Bridge History
If you want to brighten up a person s day. Give them a rainbow was said by Anthony T. Hincks. It is
true that many people like seeing the wonderful rainbow after a rainstorm but there is never one
rainbow that stays more than a few minutes at most. However there is a rainbow that has been
standing for over 50 years, it s called the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge provides a lot of great
history, many new cultures and interesting activities for tourists to take part in. Rainbow Bridge
contains many interesting historical features. A surveying party first found the Rainbow Bridge in
1909, the scientists were quickly able to find out how it was created. It was in fact created by erosion
of the sandstone by the flowing water (Rainbow Bridge). The president then in May of 1910 made it a

sites. Furthermore The Native Americans cause no problems with the rock climbers, but ask that they

Rainbow Bridge. Although you can hike at Rainbow Bridge, there are other things to do. Near the

Republicans do not simply favor economics over the environment. The real problem is that
Republicans mistrust environmental science, and nowhere is there a clearer example of this mistrust
than the hearing held by the Subcommittee on environmental regulation in 1995.
SCIENTIFIC COURT
A large component of the Republicans Contract with American was to establish a new paradigm for
environmental policy and environmental law. Republicans believed that the environmental regulation
that had happened in the United States lacked sound scientific evidence. They believed that in an
effort to pass environmental regulation Democratic Congressmen, Senators, and the President had
suppressed those scientists whose views undermined environmental science. As Democratic
Congressmen George E. Brown stated, they (Republicans) allege that science, particularly
environmental science, has been distorted to serve political purposes. 2 This Republican conviction
became apparent when Republicans took over Capitol hill in 1994. No other event more clearly
demonstrates Republicans opinion of environmental science than the 104th Congressional
Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment hearings in 1995.

Effects Of Decolonization Of Burma
Alexey Skyban (14201708)
Intro International Politics
13 October 2014
Unwillingness to do what is Right
Decolonization after 1945 undoubtedly caused more harm than good. Inevitably, colonized countries
across the globe would have eventually requested sovereignty. Today, many decolonized countries are
beginning to prosper and flourish; however, their path to such a state was long and challenging. The
fluke in decolonization was not that it happened, but the way it did. Only concerned with self interest
and prosperity domestically, European Empires were blinded to the consequences of abandoning their
colonies without any guidance or support. Poor decolonization of Burma resulted in widespread
oppression, downfall of the economy, and violation of human rights. Britain left Burma with a very
weak government unable to control its own country. As a result, the democratic government was
overthrown and a ruthless tyrant rose to power.
Before British rule, Burma was a wealthy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

executive, legislative, and judicial power to the ethnic states within a true federal union, and a
democratic form of government (ConflictMap.org) not met, the ethnic groups turned to violence. As a
result, Burma experienced intense periods of civil war which devastated and destabilized the country
even further. As the economy collapsed, U Nu was forced out of office by General Ne Win in order to
restore law and order . U Nu was re elected in February 1960, but two years later on March 2nd 1962,

Writing A Rhetorical Analysis On My Service Learning s...
We ve made it to our fourth stop, the snowy mountain of EWP Outcome #4! The aim of this outcome
is to develop flexible strategies for revising, editing, and proofreading writing. I believe that my first

1. The writing demonstrates substantial and successful revision.

needed to be done. For the first short assignment, I was required to write a rhetorical analysis on my

substantive issues raised by the instructor and peers, I failed to relate it to the website s usage of
rhetorical appeals. In order to produce an effective piece, I decided to revise my work but relating the
rhetorical appeals to my original claim, and by providing a more detailed analysis on how they relate.

The Cree And The Lakota
Saskatchewan was focused upon in this essay for two reasons. The first being that the author had lived
in that province for the majority of time they have been in Canada and so is more familiar with the
various customs and cultures that exist in the place. The second reason is that the natives have lived on
this land for tens of thousands of years, hence an incredible amount of diversity exists among the
cultures here . The two cultures focused upon in this essay are the Cree and the Lakota.

Canada alone . Scientists believe that the Cree descended from the people who crossed the Bering

Hence they were sent to the spider. The Spider agreed that he would take them to the land below but
only if they obeyed his instructions. They were to sit in a basket woven from spider silk, and the
spider would lower them there. However, only one of them was allowed to look out of the basket till
they touched the ground, if not they would get stuck on the great eagle s nest. The couple agreed. They
sat in the basket and started being lowered down with only one of them looking out (notice the
omission of gender here). Soon land was visible, then the river, the lakes and finally the trees. When
the one that was peeping out told the other of the wondrous sights, the other jumped up to watch and
so, they both got stuck on the great eagle s nest. They were stuck there for many days and were
refused help from the caribou and the lynx. Many days later a bear showed up and agreed to bring
them down from the nest. Once down, the bear guided them and taught them how to live .
In this story, the man in this story is the animus and the woman is the anima. The Syzygy in this story
is not directly represented. However, it can interpreted to be the voice the couple heard, who is none
other than Kisemanito, or the Great Spirit, who is the creator and God for the Cree. Kisemanito doesn
t hold any human attributes including gender , hence fits perfectly within the category of a Syzygy.

Bear Spread Case
That is :
Maximum Return = Net Premium Commissions Paid,
Where Price of Underlying Security Strike Price of the Long Call
Maximum loss = Difference between strike prices of calls Net Premium or Credit Received +
Commissions paid
Now we notice that the maximum gain that we can attain using this bear call strategy is practically the
credit received upon entering the trade. Therefore, to have maximum profit, the stock price needs to
close below the lower strike price of the two calls and sold at expiration date where both these call
options would expire worthless. The Risk that we run with this strategy is whether the Stock Price will
close above or below our lower strike price. If the Stock Price closes above the higher strike price;
then the bear call spread strategy suffers a maximum loss that is equal to the difference in strike price
between the two call options as well as subtracting the original credit taken in when entering the put
spread position.

What Is The Election Of 1912 Slogan
Presidential Election of 1912 In the presidential election of 1912 the Democrat Woodrow Wilson,
Progressive Theodore Roosevelt, Republican William Howard Taft, and Socialist Eugene Debs all had
their opposing views on the issues that concerning the future of democracy in America. Some of the
issues were; the Conservation of Natural Resources, Direct Democracy, Labor, Race, Tariff, Trusts and
Regulation of Business, and votes for Women. Majority of the people desired change, as would I if I
were to have lived during this time period . My vote would have been for Theodore Teddy Roosevelt,
as the change he promises is fair compared to the other candidates. Labor would be one of the issues
that would be most important to me as a voter. Working is part of life, it s necessary to be able to
provide for your family. In 1912, the working conditions were not safe or healthy. The long working
hours, the dangerous work space, the low pay all would make people desire change. As a voter, I
would want to know that in the future I would be safe at work with good pay to be able not to live in
poverty. There were many strikes that occurred, demanding change in labor in 1912. In the Lawrence
Strike, people fought for higher wages, shorter hours, safer working conditions, regulation of woman
and child labor, and workmen s compensation. Another issue that would be important to me as a voter
would be the tariff. The Tariff is a source of federal revenue. It s a way for the United States

Succession Planning Research Paper
Succession planning is one of the most important career development tools used by organizations.
This is done to determine the backups for each senior position by identifying and training the
executives who are at the next lower levels. Succession planning is not always the easiest process.
There are barriers that are affiliated with this process. The most challenging succession planning
barrier that I foresee is choosing the successor. There are many talented qualified people in
organizations today, the hardest part is weeding through all candidates and finding the best successor
to replace the best person already in the role. This challenge is present in informal and formal
succession planning. The best strategy to mitigate selecting the best possible candidate is to come up
with a panel that can make decisions. This panel should consist of a representative of HR, a
representative of the board of directors, and the candidate of the succeeding position if applicable.

College Essay On Flagella
Brucella is gram negative, non encapsulated, flagellated, and facultatively intracellular coccobacilli.
Brucella is the causative agent of brucelliosis which is transmitted via ingesting contaminated food,
direct contact with an infected animal, or inhalation of aerosols. Transmission from human to human
is extremely rare but in this case possible. This bacterium is highly infectious in that it only takes 10
100 organisms to infect an individual.
Epidemiology: Brucellosis is an extremely rare disease in the United States as a result of veterinary

This ability provides an explanation to why Brucella is a systemic infection, affecting nearly all
organs, similar to sepsis. Brucella can gain entry into the body through breaks in the skin, mucosal
membranes, respiratory tract, or gastrointestinal tract. Once in the blood stream, organisms race to
become intracellular pathogens within circulating polymorphonuclear cells and macrophages. LPS is a
viracl factor for this particular organism and plays a roll in intracellular survival because of guanine
and adenine monophosphate production. Brucella are extremely poor inducers of the immune system s
inflammatory response and does not activate the complement system, however they do inhibit
programmed cell death. Brucella are then transported to the lymphatic system and has the potential to
replicate, as well as other vital organs of the host. When Brucella replicates in the ER, they are
released with the help of hemolysin and induce cell necrosis. Laboratory acquired brucellosis is fairly
common due to the improper handling of

Public Suspicion Of The Freemason Essay
Public suspicion of the Freemasonry has always been a huge issue for the organization, but in the
1820 s, tensions came to new heights. In 1826, the Anti Masonic was founded as an official third party
political platform. This came in wake of the disappearance and suspected murder of a former Mason
named William Morgan. It was said that Morgan had put together a book detailing the secrets of
Freemasonry (Britannica). Although this is only a myth, and no conclusive evidence was ever found, it
still caused a public uproar and the Anti Masonic worked hard against the Freemasonry. They caused
enough suspicion of the masons for their numbers to reach a record low in the 1830s to 1840s
(Obelisks and Freemasonry). These numbers continued to decrease until the first World War, where
they picked back up, the same being true for the second World War. Then, during the Roaring
Twenties and the Great Depressions, numbers fell dramatically once more (Founding Fathers). During
these time periods, the American people had much greater things to worry about. People of the Great

The Good Life Montaigne Analysis
The good life is one of stability and the failure to be affected by forces and circumstances beyond the
control of the individual. This has been clearly stated beginning with Socrates, stating how each life
should be lived with self purpose: no outside influences. The artificial goods represent that of wealth,
status, and political power, whereas what an individual should cherish is their own personal beliefs
and convictions. All items that society has taught a person to hold and respect create more damage and
disruption than they benefit as they can easily be taken from oneself. A fortune can be lost, the
President will run out of terms, but the moral holding of each person is something that cannot be lost
or stripped by a force outside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, stating that a human has desire not only to attain a flourishing life, but also to appreciate what
surrounds them daily. He believes that every person has the craving for knowledge, but that each can
only learn a limited amount about Nature and how it operates. Montaigne later says, In her [Nature]
promises and threats there is great uncertainty, variability and obscurity, (Montaigne 1243).
Knowledge is so limited to each individual because Nature is constantly changing; changing what it
has to offer at any given time. It is not right or fair to live a life in which no material items are
cherished or respected. It is necessary to acknowledge that objects such as wealth, power, and social
status allow for a more comfortable life. However, like Boethius, Montaigne also accepts that these
material possessions are only temporary and will not be with the one forever. That is why they need to
be recognized while such Fortunes exist, but one should not allow oneself to become attached or
dependent upon such items. He contradicts Plato s platform stating, I hate being told to have our
minds above the clouds while our bodies are at the dinner table, (Montaigne 1257 1258). Plato, like
Socrates, believes in only focusing on what cannot be taken from an individual. Montaigne is
beginning to break free of the mold previously set by other philosophers and does not accept their way
of thinking. Although he does believe that societies goods should not take over one s life it is crucial
to accept them to live the good life. Montaigne believes that all things in life were placed by Nature
gives all that is needed. Therefore, to ignore temporary material possessions is nothing more than to
break Nature s laws. (Montaigne

measurements and they do not have to be close to the real value, for example when you are doing an

Ethnic Stereotypes In The Pawnbroker
After the Holocaust and World War II, many filmmakers and directors neglected to create politically
charged media in order to avoid criticism. Only decades after the events of the Holocaust did
Hollywood start to engage itself with the topic, but these works struggled to succeed as they faced
harsh comments from Jewish and secular critics alike. These films, produced with truly the most
sensitive and educational intentions, ended up perpetuating ethnic stereotypes for the same reasons.
There was a gap between Hollywood s preconceived notions about their productions in regard to
themes and the aspects that critics actually picked up on. Through my narrative discovery, background
on the time period, summary and analysis of the film, and contemporary responses to the film I will
explain how these stereotypes came about in film at the time and how people responded to them while
also touching on the impact of the Holocaust on survivors. The Pawnbroker is a perfect example of a
film that deals with both the lasting effect of Holocaust and the stereotyping of a multitude of
characters (Dir Lumet 1964). Different audiences and critics focus on these two pieces, characterizing
the film in accordance with its timestamp.
Once assigned this paper, I started looking into the specific traits and themes that characterized Jewish
film from each decade. Jewish Experience on Film An American Overview, by Joel Rosenberg,

The Odyssey vs the Lord of the Rings
Comparing the Odyssey to the Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings and Odyssey are two very weird stories in my opinion. The two stories include
several similarities. The most noteworthy similarity of the two that were in common was the use of
themes. Both included similar themes such as, life, death, power, brotherly love, myth, temptation, and
journey. One thing I noticed was the use of several different themes included in both stories. In the
Lord of the Rings the inhabitants of Middle Earth join to save themselves from enslavement.
Centuries before, a ring was forged putting much power into control of who had it. Some men fell into
that power, but an alliance of men and elves defeated it. The Ring was ... Show more content on

In the case of the Sirens, the theme is revisited simply for its own interest. With their ears plugged, the
crew members sail safely by the Sirens island, while Odysseus, longing to hear the Sirens sweet song,
is saved from folly only by his foresighted command to his crew to keep him bound to the ship s mast.
Homer is fascinated with depicting his protagonist tormented by temptation: in general, Odysseus and
his men want very desperately to complete their nostos, or homecoming, but this desire is constantly
at odds with the other pleasures that the world offers As for the authors, Tolkien was well versed and
well educated in the classics. He spoke ancient Greek fluently and would have known the works of
Homer inside and out. No doubt his works were influenced by Homer in at least a minor way.
Unfortunately we know very little about Homer, and in fact some scholars debate whether he even
existed, so drawing comparisons to the two authors may be difficult. What we can consider however is
the theory that Homer was a member of a group of poets called the Homeridae, which literally means
hostages. These men were believed to be descendants of prisoners of war and as such, were not sent to
war due to their dubious loyalties. Homer no doubt bore witness to many conflicts and used his
writings to warn against the dangers of war. Similarly, Tolkien confined the Lord of the Rings after he

German Racial Views And Policies Towards The Jewish People...
On the 20th of January 1942, leading members of the Nazi party had met in Berlin to discuss how they
could make the mass murder of all the Jewish people in Europe an organised and methodical
procedure; this discussion would be known as the Final Solution of the Jewish Question . This essay
will prove that the progressive development of German racial views and policies towards the Jewish
people, did in fact led to the Final Solution, and ultimately an attempt at the mass genocide of the
Jewish population all due to the absurd anti Semitic mind sets of the German people.
In the 1920s, the Nazi party had come into power under Adolf Hitler s rule, who had begun to put in
place the Nazi parties racial ideology. The Nazis had seen the German people as racially superior, and
that anyone who wasn t German, was inferior and would interrupt the creation of the perfect human
race, or what would be known as the Aryan race. The inferior people noticed by the Nazis were the;
gypsies, Jews, poles and those of colour, however, the Jews were the main virus with regards to the
Germans. The German people had the idea that the crisis in Germany and the hyperinflation of the
Weimar republic occurred all due to the Jewish people, and what would really create an anti Semitic
atmosphere, would be Germany s loss of world war one. The Germans would want the Jews to leave
so badly, that they would sign the Haavara Agreement, which would allow the German Jews the

time to a specified problem. No one seems to have a problem with these phrases as they do not signify
our determination to die for the cause.

Advantages Of Low Self-Esteem
Self esteem remains the center focus of academic interest, with numerous studies examining age
differences predictors and change over time periods or cohorts. Having a low self esteem can create
difficulty with interest, education, and social skills. Having a low self esteem is not only unhealthy,
but it can lead to neuroticism and depression (Orth, Robins, and Roberts 2008). On the other hand,
having high self esteem can create problems as well, if one thinks they are great at everything then
they have difficulty seeing their flaws. Understanding how self esteem fluctuates has important
implications for theories of personality development.
A longitudinal study is observational or it can involve collecting data/ surveys. Therefore, the
researchers do not impact the participants answers. However, in a longitudinal study, researchers have
to examine the same participants over the course of the study, which can take decades. A couple
advantages of a longitudinal study are they can show clear variable patterns over time, clear focus and
validity, useful data, and they are flexible. On the other hand a few disadvantages are they can last
many years, participants may drop out of the study, large sample size, and are typically costly.
An advantage of the researchers study is the board ages that were exampled in the research. The
researchers used participants 24 104 in their research allowing for an evaluation of all age groups.

The World s Population Will Face A Severe Shortage Of Water
Case Summary According to research conducted by the United Nations, approximately two thirds of
the world s population will face a severe shortage of water by 2025(Shaw Barry, 2014, pg. 131). Some
countries have begun to prepare early by importing tankers of water from other countries. The State of
Michigan; however, is not as concerned about the shortage due to having over 11,000 lakes including
the Great Lakes. Due to the vast amount of water sources, Nestle has built a bottled water plant in
Mecosta County, Michigan. The new plant has cost Nestle over 100 million dollars and has caused
much controversy with locals. Nestle had built a 12 mile pipeline from the plant to a local spring.
Many organizations in Michigan saw this as a huge threat to water conservation and later had resorted
to suing Nestle. Lawyers from organizations such as, Michigan s Citizens for Water Conservation and
Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians had claimed that due to reasonable use and a treaty from
1836, the land was protected from misuse of transportation of water. Michigan state judge, Lawrence
Root, had bought the argument and had upheld the lawsuit. Ruling that the environment is at risk no
matter how much water Nestle draws out, he ordered the pumps turned off (Barry, 2014, pg. 132).
Around two years later the case had been appealed and sent back to the appellate court to be revised.
The court had entered Nestle into an agreement that they would not pump more than 250 gallons

  • 2. Health Campaign Essay Health Campaign Final Essay The health behavior that was chosen to promote during our campaign was yoga. We encouraged students, staff, and faculty members at Knox College to partake in yoga classes offered by the school in order to reduce stress and target a particular health/illness outcome. The main physical health/illness outcome targeted in this campaign was reduced blood pressure. Yoga is also seen to improve cardiovascular health. We chose to focus on the benefits of yoga to improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health instead of just one or the other because most of the studies that we found while researching mentioned both decreased blood pressure and improved cardiovascular health occurring from practicing yoga. In Fan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results of this study showed significant improvement in quality of life, anxiety, and blood pressure in the meditation group. While in controls, quality of life deteriorated and there was no improvement in blood pressure. In Satin, Jillian R., et al., Yoga and Psychophysiological Determinants of Cardiovascular Health: Comparing Yoga Practitioners, Runners, and Sedentary Individuals , this cross sectional study examined the cardiovascular health markers in long term practitioners of yoga (yogis), runners, and sedentary individuals. The researchers compared physiological, psychological, and lifestyle variables associated with cardiovascular health across groups. • 3. The Outsider In Othello Due to Othello s heroic qualities and military proficiency, he was partially accepted into the Venetian society. A colored man who has traveled the world and have been through many battles earned the title as the military commander of the Venetian military. Although he is accepted into the Venetian society, his status is pretty complicated to say the lease as he is looked at as both an insider and outsider. Othello unintentionally puts himself into a position where he was standing out more than an outsider should, causing others to be jealous and despise him, as it lead him to his downfall. As tough as Othello is shown to be, he should also be to blame for his downfall due to his own sense of insecurity. His inability to be able to control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is obvious to him that he is a man of color in a society that is dominated by White people who prides themselves on money and title. Iago capitalizes on this as he is constantly referring Othello s blackness through animalistic imagery that degrades Othello as a person. Not only does Othello acknowledges his status as an outsider he often times struggles to come to terms with the fact that he cannot do anything about it. One thing that Othello tries to do is ensure himself that his own beliefs will help him overcome what the people of Venetian think of him; Not I; I must be found. /My parts, my title, and my perfect soul /Shall manifest me rightly. Is it they? (Act I.ii.30/32). Othello s is always putting his trust in everyone which is a reflection of his belief that the best way to help overcome discrimination is to let his actions define who he is, not his skin color. Although he tries his best to fit in, the reality is that Othello knows that he can only do so much because he is an outsider to the Venetian society. The fact of the matter is that he is a colored soldier in a society defined by wealth and title, as White people dominate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nuclear Energy Is Energy Generated From The Fission Or... Nuclear Energy Jason Venturini April 6, 2016 What is nuclear energy? Nuclear energy is energy generated from the fission or fusion of enriched uranium. The power plants in which this type of energy is made are called nuclear power plants, but have many variations in how this energy is achieved. Almost all reactors use heat generated from the enriched uranium pellets to bring water to a boil, and use steam powered generators to create power. In Canada, the type of reactor used is called a Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), a method created by Canada in the 1950 s. In the next sections the inner workings of the PHWR method will be examined and its safety explained. How does PHWR work? As mentioned before, many nuclear reactors use enriched uranium. PHWR, however, does not for cost reasons as enrichment facilities for uranium are complicated, expensive and the PHWR method is much more efficient. It avoids the usage of enriched uranium through heavy water as a coolant instead of light water. Canada specific reactors, called CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) reactors use 30 40% less fuel than light water based reactors. With the benefits of using heavy water out of the way, the complicated process of creating energy from small uranium pellets the size of half an AA battery will be explained as simply as possible. The process starts with hundreds of pellets being incased in metal, welded into small cylinders and inserted into a large tank called the calandria . Nuclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Designing A Windows Registry Autorun MSC.BAT was used to initialize the persistent installation of the other two binaries, NTLHAFD.GCP and NTSVCHOST.EXE, and cleanup the installation. A Windows registry Autorun key was set to provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory. In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the malware into believing it was on the internet. Red October s Second Stage Command and Control and Loaded Modules After successfully establishing a connection to one of the three hardcoded Command and Control servers built into every installation of Red October, the backdoor was capable of loading additional modules. Different Theories of Motivation Introduction Motivation is a reason or set or reasons for engaging in a particular behavior, especially human behavior as studied in psychology and neuropsychology. The reasons may include basic needs (e.g., food, water, shelter) or an object, goal, state of being, or ideal that is desirable, which may or may not be viewed as positive, such as seeking a state of being in which pain is absent. The motivation for a behavior may also be attributed to less apparent reasons such as altruism or morality. (See also Goal Theory.)In work environments, money is typically viewed as an important goal (having food, clothes etc.) may well be more powerful than the direct motivation provided by an enjoyable workplace. Coercion The most obvious form of motivation is coercion, where the avoidance of pain or other negative consequences has an immediate effect. Extreme use of coercion is considered slavery. While coercion is considered morally reprehensible in many philosophies, it is widely practiced on prisoners, students in mandatory schooling, within the nuclear family unit (on children), and in the form of conscription. Critics of modern capitalism charge that without social safety networks, wage slavery is inevitable. However, many capitalists such as Ayn Rand have been very vocal against coercion [citation needed] . Successful coercion sometimes can take priority over other types of motivation. Self coercion is rarely substantially negative (typically only negative in the sense that it avoids a positive, such as undergoing an expensive dinner or a period of relaxation), however it is interesting in that it illustrates how lower levels of motivation may be sometimes tweaked to satisfy higher ones. Self control The self control of motivation is increasingly understood as a subset of emotional intelligence; a person may be highly intelligent according to a more conservative definition (as measured by many intelligence tests), yet ... Inevitably, colonized countries across the globe would have eventually requested sovereignty. Today, many decolonized countries are beginning to prosper and flourish; however, their path to such a state was long and challenging. Therefore, to have maximum profit, the stock price needs to close below the lower strike price of the two calls and sold at expiration date where both these call options would expire worthless. The Risk that we run with this strategy is whether the Stock Price will close above or below our lower strike price. • 27. Public Suspicion Of The Freemason Essay Public suspicion of the Freemasonry has always been a huge issue for the organization, but in the 1820 s, tensions came to new heights. In 1826, the Anti Masonic was founded as an official third party political platform. This came in wake of the disappearance and suspected murder of a former Mason named William Morgan. It was said that Morgan had put together a book detailing the secrets of Freemasonry (Britannica). Although this is only a myth, and no conclusive evidence was ever found, it still caused a public uproar and the Anti Masonic worked hard against the Freemasonry. They caused enough suspicion of the masons for their numbers to reach a record low in the 1830s to 1840s (Obelisks and Freemasonry). These numbers continued to decrease until the first World War, where they picked back up, the same being true for the second World War. Then, during the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depressions, numbers fell dramatically once more (Founding Fathers). During these time periods, the American people had much greater things to worry about. People of the Great Depression were far too busy trying to make ends meet ... • 28. The Good Life Montaigne Analysis The good life is one of stability and the failure to be affected by forces and circumstances beyond the control of the individual. This has been clearly stated beginning with Socrates, stating how each life should be lived with self purpose: no outside influences. The artificial goods represent that of wealth, status, and political power, whereas what an individual should cherish is their own personal beliefs and convictions. All items that society has taught a person to hold and respect create more damage and disruption than they benefit as they can easily be taken from oneself. A fortune can be lost, the President will run out of terms, but the moral holding of each person is something that cannot be lost or stripped by a force outside ... He believes that every person has the craving for knowledge, but that each can only learn a limited amount about Nature and how it operates. Montaigne later says, In her [Nature] promises and threats there is great uncertainty, variability and obscurity, (Montaigne 1243). Knowledge is so limited to each individual because Nature is constantly changing; changing what it has to offer at any given time. It is not right or fair to live a life in which no material items are cherished or respected. It is necessary to acknowledge that objects such as wealth, power, and social status allow for a more comfortable life. However, like Boethius, Montaigne also accepts that these material possessions are only temporary and will not be with the one forever. That is why they need to be recognized while such Fortunes exist, but one should not allow oneself to become attached or dependent upon such items. He contradicts Plato s platform stating, I hate being told to have our minds above the clouds while our bodies are at the dinner table, (Montaigne 1257 1258). Plato, like Socrates, believes in only focusing on what cannot be taken from an individual. Montaigne is beginning to break free of the mold previously set by other philosophers and does not accept their way of thinking. Although he does believe that societies goods should not take over one s life it is crucial to accept them to live the good life. Montaigne believes that all things in life were placed by Nature gives all that is needed. Therefore, to ignore temporary material possessions is nothing more than to break Nature s laws. • 33. Ethnic Stereotypes In The Pawnbroker After the Holocaust and World War II, many filmmakers and directors neglected to create politically charged media in order to avoid criticism. Only decades after the events of the Holocaust did Hollywood start to engage itself with the topic, but these works struggled to succeed as they faced harsh comments from Jewish and secular critics alike. These films, produced with truly the most sensitive and educational intentions, ended up perpetuating ethnic stereotypes for the same reasons. There was a gap between Hollywood s preconceived notions about their productions in regard to themes and the aspects that critics actually picked up on. Through my narrative discovery, background on the time period, summary and analysis of the film, and contemporary responses to the film I will explain how these stereotypes came about in film at the time and how people responded to them while also touching on the impact of the Holocaust on survivors. The Pawnbroker is a perfect example of a film that deals with both the lasting effect of Holocaust and the stereotyping of a multitude of characters (Dir Lumet 1964). Different audiences and critics focus on these two pieces, characterizing the film in accordance with its timestamp. • 34. The Odyssey vs the Lord of the Rings Comparing the Odyssey to the Lord of the Rings The Lord of the Rings and Odyssey are two very weird stories in my opinion. The two stories include several similarities. The most noteworthy similarity of the two that were in common was the use of themes. Both included similar themes such as, life, death, power, brotherly love, myth, temptation, and journey. One thing I noticed was the use of several different themes included in both stories. In the Lord of the Rings the inhabitants of Middle Earth join to save themselves from enslavement. Centuries before, a ring was forged putting much power into control of who had it. With their ears plugged, the crew members sail safely by the Sirens island, while Odysseus, longing to hear the Sirens sweet song, is saved from folly only by his foresighted command to his crew to keep him bound to the ship s mast. Homer is fascinated with depicting his protagonist tormented by temptation: in general, Odysseus and his men want very desperately to complete their nostos, or homecoming, but this desire is constantly at odds with the other pleasures that the world offers As for the authors, Tolkien was well versed and well educated in the classics. He spoke ancient Greek fluently and would have known the works of Homer inside and out. No doubt his works were influenced by Homer in at least a minor way. Unfortunately we know very little about Homer, and in fact some scholars debate whether he even existed, so drawing comparisons to the two authors may be difficult. What we can consider however is the theory that Homer was a member of a group of poets called the Homeridae, which literally means hostages. These men were believed to be descendants of prisoners of war and as such, were not sent to war due to their dubious loyalties. Homer no doubt bore witness to many conflicts and used his writings to warn against the dangers of war. Similarly, Tolkien confined the Lord of the Rings after he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. German Racial Views And Policies Towards The Jewish People... On the 20th of January 1942, leading members of the Nazi party had met in Berlin to discuss how they could make the mass murder of all the Jewish people in Europe an organised and methodical procedure; this discussion would be known as the Final Solution of the Jewish Question . This essay will prove that the progressive development of German racial views and policies towards the Jewish people, did in fact led to the Final Solution, and ultimately an attempt at the mass genocide of the Jewish population all due to the absurd anti Semitic mind sets of the German people. In the 1920s, the Nazi party had come into power under Adolf Hitler s rule, who had begun to put in place the Nazi parties racial ideology. The Nazis had seen the German people as racially superior, and that anyone who wasn t German, was inferior and would interrupt the creation of the perfect human race, or what would be known as the Aryan race. The inferior people noticed by the Nazis were the; gypsies, Jews, poles and those of colour, however, the Jews were the main virus with regards to the Germans. The German people had the idea that the crisis in Germany and the hyperinflation of the Weimar republic occurred all due to the Jewish people, and what would really create an anti Semitic atmosphere, would be Germany s loss of world war one. Having a low self esteem can create difficulty with interest, education, and social skills. Having a low self esteem is not only unhealthy, but it can lead to neuroticism and depression (Orth, Robins, and Roberts 2008). On the other hand, having high self esteem can create problems as well, if one thinks they are great at everything then they have difficulty seeing their flaws. Understanding how self esteem fluctuates has important implications for theories of personality development. A longitudinal study is observational or it can involve collecting data/ surveys. Therefore, the researchers do not impact the participants answers. However, in a longitudinal study, researchers have to examine the same participants over the course of the study, which can take decades. A couple advantages of a longitudinal study are they can show clear variable patterns over time, clear focus and validity, useful data, and they are flexible. On the other hand a few disadvantages are they can last many years, participants may drop out of the study, large sample size, and are typically costly. The World s Population Will Face A Severe Shortage Of Water Case Summary According to research conducted by the United Nations, approximately two thirds of the world s population will face a severe shortage of water by 2025(Shaw Barry, 2014, pg. 131). Some countries have begun to prepare early by importing tankers of water from other countries. The State of Michigan; however, is not as concerned about the shortage due to having over 11,000 lakes including the Great Lakes. Due to the vast amount of water sources, Nestle has built a bottled water plant in Mecosta County, Michigan. The new plant has cost Nestle over 100 million dollars and has caused much controversy with locals. Nestle had built a 12 mile pipeline from the plant to a local spring. Many organizations in Michigan saw this as a huge threat to water conservation and later had resorted to suing Nestle. Lawyers from organizations such as, Michigan s Citizens for Water Conservation and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians had claimed that due to reasonable use and a treaty from 1836, the land was protected from misuse of transportation of water. Michigan state judge, Lawrence Root, had bought the argument and had upheld the lawsuit. Ruling that the environment is at risk no matter how much water Nestle draws out, he ordered the pumps turned off (Barry, 2014, pg. 132). Around two years later the case had been appealed and sent back to the appellate court to be revised. The court had entered Nestle into an agreement that they would not pump more than 250 gallons ...
