How Does The Oven Affect The Rise Of A Cupcake
the purpose of this experiment was to see if the time spent in the oven affect the rise of a cupcake.
More importantly how much it affects the rise. Also I wanted to see if I could find the the perfect
amount of time to bake it for. I was able to find the time where I thought the cupcakes tasted the best
at the end. Also this experiment was easy enough to conduct. I first made the batter which was from a
box. I preheated the oven and filled each cupcake tin with one tablespoon batter each. I then put it in
the oven for 10 minutes. When they were done I took them out and measured their height I repeated
this step twice more, each for 10 minutes. I did the same procedure again for 15 minutes in the oven
and again for 20. Making a total of 9

Business Cycle Of Recession Essay
The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves
and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. Business cycles are
composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough. Every period of economic
growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The duration of each cycle varies sometimes
8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same. Recession are very harmful for the standards of
living and economists try at all cause to avoid them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Recession is defined as a
period of about six months that economy declines significantly. According to Amadeo, there are 5
economic indicators that will drop when a recession take place; real GDP, ... Show more content on

Big businesses would try to lower their expenses by stop hiring or even cut the personal, which we
saw previously with unemployment. Furthermore, businesses would cut costs by stop buying new
equipment or eliminate advertisings which eventually would affect big and small companies involved
as well. And that is how the cycle begins. Other problem companies and industries face are that
because of the lousy economy recession carries, costumers might be delayed with their debts to the
company. Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in reducing the
valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies that cannot pay
their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand, small businesses get
yet worse than big businesses. Without big cash reserves and capital assets it makes it harder for these
businesses to survive the recession (Davis, 2016). In conclusion, that is how many businesses get in
bankrupt during the recessions. In the chart below is the data about the rate of bankruptcies in the

In the Article Grand Slam Graphics, Lisa Strausfeld, David Ingold, Christopher Cannon, and Jeremy

the numbers and statistics behind the business to in fact to see how much goes on behind the diamond.

Astoundingly, they are the most valuable team in baseball. To help put this in viewpoint, three graphs
are shaped in this article to expose the massive amount of information that is available to discover in
each of the teams values. Each graph displays many demographics that are classified in different sets
such as total team value, team rankings in groups such as team revenue, gate receipts, concessions,
sponsorship, media rights, parking, and attendance, and the two thousand and thirteen season results.
The teams displayed are the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the St. Louis Cardinals. I for
one believe that the In House designers put these three teams because two out of three of them are the
first and second most valuable teams in the game, and the third one are the World Series champions.
Likewise, they could have put the Cardinals in there to put in perspective how much money is
collected in a given year compared to each team s value, which are significantly different. In fact, In
House design judge Ed Roberts said This polar diagram is one of the most

Why Whaling Should Be Allowed
Did you know that about 236,000 whales were killed in the 19th century? Whaling can be a very
controversial topic for a couple of years now. Whaling the practice or industry of hunting and killing
whales for their oil, meat, or whalebone. Fishermen kill whales for materials, food; and sometimes
even money. Whales can be killed by fishermen because they are needed for essential materials, and
are also used as a food source. Some people think that whaling should not be allowed because it is
destroying the population of whales. Whaling should be legal around the world because of two main
reasons. Whales are used as a food source, and for essential materials like oil, and fertilizer. One of the
main reasons whaling should be legal is because whales are used for food around the world.
According to the article, How whaling works, it says Whale meat became breakfast, lunch and dinner
(Perry 1). This explains how important whales are for food because it shows that people ate whale
meat all of the time, and it was the only thing that people ate. Another piece of evidence is in the video

which is the fatty stuff found under a whale s skin, was used in things like soaps, candles and

Alpha Spectroscopy Is A Technique For Quantification Of...
Alpha spectroscopy is a technique for quantification of alpha particles and identification of its parent
radionuclide using a silicon diode semiconductor detector [Knoll, 2010]. These detectors operate in a
vacuum to enable them to detect alpha particles emitted from a source without degradation of the
alpha particle energy. The alpha particles are transformed into electrical pulses which are amplified
and shaped prior to conversion into a differentiated pulse height spectrum by a multichannel analyzer.
The resultant spectrum is characteristic of the energy of the originally alpha particle and can therefore
be used to identify the parent radionuclide [Boll et al, 1997].
This technique is excellent for differentiation of alpha emitters due to peak resolution of as high as 10
keV with typical resolution of 25 30 keV [Knoll, 2010]. The detection efficiency is relatively poor (3
20%), but because of the inherently low background of less than one count per hour in carefully
controlled systems, low minimum detection concentrations are achievable [Knoll, 2010]. The method
has a high sensitivity for detecting alpha emitting radionuclides. The ability to discriminate among
different energy levels can be used for isotope specific measurements. If the alpha source is prepared
in a proper way, there is no significant self absorption in the alpha source itself [Knoll, 2010].
The modern version of the silicon diode semiconductor detector is the passivated implanted planar

Using the text for this course, the University Library, the Internet, and/or other resources, answer the
following questions. Your response to each question should be at least 250 words in length.
WHAT ARE THE MAJOR MILESTONES RELATED TO THE PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN
ADOLESCENCE? BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THESE MILESTONES.
There are many major physical changes that take place during the course of adolescence. Many would
argue that the most prominent changes involve puberty and the endocrine system. The various
endocrine glands present in the body begin to secrete hormones that influence puberty and initiate
physical changes such as: brain development, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. WHAT ARE THE MAJOR MILESTONES RELATED TO THE PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN
EARLY, MIDDLE, AND LATE ADULTHOOD? BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THESE MILESTONES.
There is a major difference between the studies of infancy; childhood, adolescence, and adulthood
because doctors and researchers begin to investigate the loss of function, rather than the major
increases of function seen in earlier years.
EARLY ADULTHOOD: Major physical changes that occur in early adulthood include changes to the
brain and nervous system, growth spurts, sex differences, declines in physical functioning, changes in
the heart and lungs, changes in strength and speed, reproductive capacity, and immune system
functioning. Within the brain and nervous system, most functions have become localized in specific
areas of the brain, new synapses continue to form, myelinization is occurring, and old connections are
dying off (Boyd Bee, 2006). Surprisingly, recent research has suggested that some parts of the brain
produce new neurons to replace those that die (even within the brains of those in the early adulthood
stage).
The loss of physical functioning affects almost every major organ in young adulthood. More

Importance Of Alcestis Silence For Athenian Women
Euripides further demonstrates that he is not a feminist by denying Alcestis of her agency at the end of
Alcestis. When Heracles brings Alcestis back after rescuing her from Death, she has lost the ability to
speak for three days (Alc. 1142 1146). This action denies Alcestis of her agency in several ways. First,
she was never able to actually finish dying to save her husband. By not being able to die, Alcestis
never fully carried out the action that was going to give her agency and honor as a perfect wife.
Secondly, Alcestis silence serves as a way to make her an obedient feminine wife. As Slater mentions,
by presenting Alcestis in this way, Euripides shows that the true glory of an Athenian woman is
silence (116). This creates a view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she had the ability to decide if she would be a wiling or unwilling victim, she had no choice in
the fact that she was going to die. This is because Euripides let male characters make the decision that
they would definitely sacrifice Iphigenia. As soon as Agamemnon found out that his daughter would
have to be sacrificed so the Greeks would do well in the war, many men became involved. These men
began to try and plot if they should sacrifice Iphigenia and if they were to go about saving her, how
they should do so. As Christina Sorum points out, Iphigenia perpetuates the patriotic theme introduced
by her father (541). Had Agamemnon never found out that it was prophesized that his daughter should
be sacrificed in order for the Greeks to be successful, Iphigenia would have never had the opportunity
to make the decision to willingly die. Without this decision, Iphigenia would have never been
presented with the opportunity to gain any

In the time before King Louis XIV s reign, 17th century France was involved in several civil wars,
there were no secure borders and the aristocracy acted as local rulers. In 1643 when Louis XIV came
to power, he thought that he needed to secure both France and his own rule. He decided to build a new
palace complex 12 miles outside Paris. To him, isolation meant security, he would be away from the
plotters and schemers in Paris. He also believed that having all government departments and ministries
living within Versailles would centralize the government and create reform.
Versailles was designed by craftsmen, architects and artists from all over Europe and took 30 years to

Italian American Attitudes Towards Speech Summary
Italian American attitudes towards speech not only is representative of their family orientated culture,
but also for the role oral traditions as a medium for providing younger generations the necessary
values and beliefs to thrive in what otherwise was a foreign society with different ideologies.
Throughout Mount Allegro, Mangione repeatedly talks about the idea of second generation Italian
immigrants being able to speak the parent s language, or mother tongue, Italian (Mangione 20 and 49
50). His mother, who reinforced the rule of only speaking Italian in the household, emphasizes the
importance of being able to communicate in a language shared by everyone in the household: I don t

Italian American attitudes towards speech are often taught through descent, by lessons told from older
generations. One such lesson is the idea of never telling others about one s own problems or family
problems. Particularly relevant in Mangione s anecdote about Comare Alfreda and Compare Calogero,
in which Comare Alfreda discusses Compare Calogero s philandering to Jerre s mother (Mangione
168). As discussion of Compare Calogero s philandering to others could result in others, especially
women, paying more attention to Compare Calogero, this could have resulted in Comare Alfreda s
problems from coming true, emphasizing the sense of vulnerability when one reveals too much
information. This particularly becomes relevant, as Mangione states that eventually the details of the
story soon got around to [his] relatives (Mangione 180). In addition to keeping quiet about one s own
problems, the idea of omereta, the oath of silence, is also a practice passed down through descent, due
to the older generation s lack of faith in the law (Mangione

Dangers Of Fighting In War
The Union and Confederate were fighting a bloody war against one another. The dangers they
encounter were increased by the lack of resources. Soldiers often went days without food. They did
not have adequate clothing and footwear. When a soldier was wounded, proper medical care was
nonexistent. Military doctors and nurses worked around the clock with limited resources to help
soldiers. Fighting in war supplies the opportunity to face danger; however, who would have imagined
basic human needs would go unmet? After a long day of marching through unknown territory, a meal
was what soldier wished for. Sadly, they often did not have any food. One soldier wrote, I am glad to

Statistics Can Reduce Internet Fraud Essay
Many online auction sites help consumers bid on items they might want to possess. These sites include
eBay, WebStore, ebid, OnlineAuction, OZtion, Overstock, and a whole slew of others. Currently there
is no system to protect consumers from fraudulent sales. When someone bids for an item, consumers
trust both the seller and the online auctioneer to be both honest and ethical when presenting items for
bid. Many of the auction houses, including Sotheby s and Christie s have their experts examine each
piece to prove authenticity. However, it is not all bad news. To help protect consumers from fraud,
Joseph Gastwirth and Wesley Johnson have found that the use of statistics answers the problem of

Italy During The Renaissance Era
The Renaissance era was a time of grand cultural and social changes for Europe. This era
began around the year 1350 up until the year 1700. The Renaissance era s birthplace was Italy,
then spread all across to Europe around the 17th century. The word Renaissance means rebirth
which is a perfect description of the theme of this era. People were going through changes in
many things such as the way they learned and in art as well. The one major reason why the
Renaissance began in Italy in the first place was mainly because of geography. The city states of
Italy, which were located right on the Mediterranean Sea, were the popular places for trade and
commerce.

It is a formless music, but because the performers are quite literally composing in the moment, there
were three noticeable sections in the piece. The first part was developing an idea, slowly getting used
to each other s sounds, sometimes gentle and sometime aggressive. Beginning of the improvisation the
drumbeat is simple but rather random. There is no set pattern that I could find, but the tom tom pattern
was rather similar so I think that was the main motif. The bass clarinet also started an idea, a 6 note
pattern downward without any tonal center. He slowly develops this idea by playing a similar patters,
or sequence, to concrete the idea for the audience but slightly mutating the motif little by little each
time he plays it. He never plays the same way again. As the bass clarinet gets more active by
increasing the amount of notes played and the intensity of the tone, the drum slowly matches the bass
clarinet in aggressiveness. The drum plays very sudden loud snare drum occasionally, creating tension
in the music with already atonal bass clarinet. Then the drummer starts to put a cymbal and a pad on
two different drums to create a very dull thick sound. The bass clarinet and the drum both
simultaneously becomes very aggressive, loud, and complex at this point. Bass clarinet sounds very

Vj Junction
1.) It can be assured that the heavy chain will create a VDJ junction but not a VJ junction because of
the 12/23 rule. A gene segment flanked by an RSS with a 12 base pair spacer typically can only be
joined to one flanked by a 23 base pair spacer RSS. So, for the heavy chain, a D segment can be
joined to a J gene segment and a V gene segment to D gene segment but the V gene segment can not
be directly joined to the J gene segment. Both the V and J gene segments are flanked by a 23 base pair
spacer and the D segments have 12 base pair spacers on both sides. The light chain VJ junction will

The κ loci is located on human chromosome 2, the cluster of V gene segments is followed by a cluster
of J gene segments and then a single C gene. The light chain VJ segment cannot be a product of κ or λ

chromosome (Murphy 2012). Production of a complete antigen receptor includes two series of gene
segment rearrangements, one for each receptor chain locus. Each of these rearrangements continues
until a complete protein is made and the cell moves on to the next stage in development. The most
important factor is the V regions that are encoded by separate gene segments (V, D and J segments),
which are brought together by somatic recombination to create a complete V region exon. The V

split into two independent countries. The peaceful separation created the Czech Republic and an
independent Slovakia. The history the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the once Czechoslovakia is rich
and full of turmoil.
History
The indigenous population of Czechoslovakia were the Slavic tribes. These tribes were made up of
West Slavs tribes who were the Poles, the Czechs and the Slovaks. The East Slavs tribes consisted of
Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusian s. The South Slavs tribes consisted of Bulgarians, Croats,
Macedonians Serbs and Slovenians. In 550 BC the Slavs began settling in the eastern Alps and by 800
BC Christianity was spreading across the Slovene lands. In 962 the Holy Roman Empire was
established and in 1085 Vrastislav II became the first Czech king which started the Premyslid dynasty.
The Premyslid dynasty ended with the death of King Wenceslas III in 1306. In 1414 Jan Hus, an
outspoken Czech, started speaking out against the corruption in the Catholic Church. Jan would
conduct sermons in Czech so the regular citizens could understand the message. Unfortunately Jan
was to outspoken and was burnt at the stake one year later in the year 1415. The Hussite Wars
commenced in 1420 and carried on for fourteen years and concluded in 1434. In 1458 the Hussites
elected a Czech Protestant king named George of Podebrady. The Hapsburg Dynasty ruled the lands

Prejudice In The Holocaust
The Holocaust is a prime example of prejudice taken to a catastrophic level. It was a large scale event
almost unparalleled to that of any other in terms of people killed and atrocities committed. Violence
against Jews and their properties were both commonplace and promoted, and anti Semitism among
Nazis and their associates ran rampant. By unlawfully persecuting a particular race through state
sponsored government support, racism flourished and led the way to a rise of an apocalyptic genocide.
With authorization from the Nazi party allocated to its soldiers, troops confiscated Jewish property,
pillaged numerous synagogues and stores, and murdered Jews in a short period of time. Reliable
assistance to the suffering Jews was hard to find because of the Nazis brainwashing of the nation
through abundant propaganda. This kind of widespread discrimination inhibited the Jewish people s
ability to speak out against this obvious prejudice. While these attacks were just the tip of the iceberg
in comparison to later deeds committed by the Nazis, they were still fundamental to the eventual
extermination of the Jewish race. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Islamic State, also known as ISIS of ISIL, has continued to arouse much untold terror throughout
the Middle East region for more than four years, since 2011. The recent violence there underscores the
seriousness of the issue and the urgency of those people living in the refugee camps. These refugees
migrated to these camps to escape the militants attack on their homes and properties. The victims to
much destruction and hardship, these Syrians will not be returning to their native homeland any time
soon, and they can only hope that a genocidal tragedy like the Holocaust will never blossom in

Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church
Getting to Heaven
Some keep the Sabbath going to Church 236
In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church, the theme is that there is more than one way to
get to Heaven(1, 1668). The persona suggests that this is true because they still have a relationship
with God; they just worship differently than what is accepted by society. In the line that reads, And an
Orchard, for a dome, Dickinson uses imagery to paint a picture for the reader(4, 1668). The image is
an orchard of trees that provides her with a safe place for worship instead of the traditional church
sanctuary. She is suggesting that nature, the things unspoiled by humankind, is whatone really needs
for worship and gaining a relationship with God. The practices that many religions believe have to be
performed are unnecessary because God is with you all the time and not just when you are in church.
It is just as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first line of the last stanza she writes God preaches, a noted Clergyman (9, 1668). This is
inferring that she gets her spiritual food directly from God; there is no need for a middle man. There is
a practice used by a well known religion that a person needs to confess their sins to their priest in
order to be forgiven of them and made new. This is another way that a middle man is used in religious
practices. The Bible reads no one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Dickinson is
going by the words of the Bible instead of the words of mankind. The final two lines of the poem read
So instead of getting to Heaven, at last I m going, all along (11, 1668). The connotation of these words
relay to the reader that along with all the church goers she, the one who exercises her own, individual
beliefs and practices, will be right there with them going to Heaven. It s almost as if she is
obnoxiously poking at the religious people of her time proving that you don t have to always do things

All the policies can be accessed by tutors through the service website. Recently the service published a
handbook for tutors aimed at supporting the induction process. Whilst it clearly sets out the roles and
responsibilities of the tutor it does not mention any of the policies and procedures that have been
drawn up by the service and how they can be accessed. Learners should receive a copy of the student
charter when they begin a course and depending on the tutor they either receive a copy of the WAES
class rules or work as a group to establish the rules for their own particular class.
The handbook does talk about punctuality and attendance. It states that, WAES, the SFA and Ofsted all
expect a commitment to attendance and punctuality from our learners. (WAES, 2010:14) It suggests
that tutors firstly find out why a student may be arriving late or attending poorly, which shows an
awareness that our students are adult learners and often have other commitments. However, recently
tutors were reminded that it is their legal responsibility to complete the register on line within the first
15 minutes of the class starting due to Health and Safety guidelines. Clearly this can create a possible
tension; on the one hand the tutor is asked to be understanding of a

Conditional Use Permits
A deemed approved ordinance (DAO) or a nuisance abatement ordinance is a piece of legislation
using the same zoning authority to apply Conditional Use Permits (CUP) equivalent standards to new
and preexisting alcohol outlets enacted by a municipal authority to quall the adverse impacts of
alcohol availability and alcohol sales on the public health, safety, and welfare of the community and
residents. While the state of California has exclusive regulatory authority over the licensing and
regulation of alcohol sales, local governments implement DAOs to exercise authority over preexisting
alcohol retail establishments by regulating their numbers, location, size and practices through land use

decided to take. The method of regulating alcohol sales by type and quantity has proven successful for

the City has seen a sharp decline in alcohol related crime and nuisances, such as public drunkenness

William Gulliver s Travels And Oroonoko
Neoclassicism in Gulliver s Travels and Oroonoko Penned sometime between the mid 1600s and late
1700s, a literary genre defined by artificiality and formality, neoclassical literature reflected the style
of literature adopted from the Greeks and the Romans. As such, the literature tends to focus on glib
characters who were preoccupied with appearances rather than genuineness. In addition, having good
manners and public comportment was essential. The literature during the Neoclassical era is
characterized by structure, order, and accuracy, traits that directly undermined attitudes during the
Renaissance period. As such, authors represented man as innately flawed yet striving to show both self
control and restraint. Although Gulliver s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift s Gulliver s Travels is a clear example of satirical social commentary intended to shed light on
man s imperfections and the reality of human nature. The protagonist first travels to an island called
Lilliput, a place in which the denizens small males who are about six inches in height comport
themselves in a petty, pretentious manner and convey the self importance often demonstrated by life
sized men. These residents are vicious, morally bereft, hypocritical, jealous, greedy, and deceitful,
displaying all very human traits. Swift utilizes the Lilliputians to satirize particular events and people
in the protagonist s life and to mirror the flawed and treacherous nature of man that became so
blaringly public during the eighteenth century. In comparing Lilliputian physical stature and societal
values with his own size and English bred values, Gulliver finds the Lilliputians to be physically and
societally flawed. Gulliver then travels in Brobdingnag, an island peopled by 60 foot giants, where the
residents put the protagonist back in his place, offering the bulk of your natives, to be the most
pernicious race of odious vermin . . . to crawl upon the surface of the Earth. (1460). As such, the
giants function as moralizing elements who reside in a practice, moral utopia. Virtue and good will
permeate this island, which manifests in the laws that govern the island and

I Walk Into A Second Grade Classroom
As I walk into a second grade classroom, I take notice of all the colorful posters and the children
happily chatting. The teacher acknowledges me with a wave while she is sitting with the children
reading a story. I am there to observe John who is a 7 year old male student in the class who had been
diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by the psychiatrist at Jewish Family Children s
Services. During a prior Child Study Team meeting, his teacher reported that he is constantly not on
task and that his behavior is disrupting the classroom. The teacher reported that John does well
academically on the work he turns in but he is missing 30% of his assignments. John reports that he

At the end of my observation, I noted that he was on on task 35% of the time. I also wrote down a
summary of my observations of the antecedent, behaviors and consequences that could be contributing
to the problem. The teacher was teaching a spelling lesson. The teacher was orally giving the students
a vocabulary word, which they had to write in a sentence. The classroom was noisy during this
activity and John completed the first two sentences but then began doodling on his paper, rocking on
his chair and talking to the person next to him. When the teacher warned him to stop talking, he
complied but was still lost on what word they were doing. In the follow up Child Success Team
meeting, I explain to John s parents and teacher, that John is in the developmental phase of Industry vs
Inferiority. In order for John to succeed at this phase, it is important for the parents and teachers to set
him up for success and then praise him. If the yelling continues, John can feel inferior, incapable of
succeeding at school and his self esteem will be affected. I also explain that John may or may not
qualify for an IEP. The parents sign forms giving the school psychologist and other members of the
MET team permission to assess John to determine if he has a learning disability. I also explain to the
parents that if he does not qualify for an IEP he most likely will qualify for a 504 plan, which will

Song To The Siren Allusion
The allusion of the Sirens in each of the song lyrics given creates a mood revolving around
hopelessness. In both songs, the allusion reinforces the fact that the speaker wants something that they

signifies the fact that the artist wants to go back to his hometown, but cannot, because his occupation

Business Analysis of IBM Essay examples
Business Analysis of IBM
1. History of IBM:
IBM is a multinational corporation that started its activities in 1911. But its origins can be traced back
to 1890, during the height of the Industrial Revolution. It was first known as the Computing
Recording Company, and then in 1924, it took the name of International Business Machines.
Nowadays, this multinational company is known as the ¡§Big Blue¡¨
2. Mission statement

5. Industry trends:
IBM¡¦s old belief was that personal computers are a vital part of their overall strategy to link personal
computers, minicomputers, and mainframes, their preferred product in this line. It was not quick in
adapting this belief to the new reality and importance of the PC potential, so during the 1980s and
early 1990s, IBM was thrown into turmoil by back to back revolutions in the trends of the computer
industry. The PC revolution placed computers directly in the hands of millions of people, and then, the
client/server revolution sought to link all of those PCs (the clients ) with larger computers that labored
in the background (the servers that served data and applications to client machines). Both revolutions
transformed the way customers viewed, used and bought technology, and both fundamentally rocked
IBM.
6. Tactics at IBM were as follows:
Marketing at IBM has often been based on recycling and updating older proprietary systems
architectures in which it had a vested interest. It was a product rather than consumer oriented strategy.

solutions in an effort to better meet customer needs.

Acute Withdrawal Research Paper
Addiction the destroyer of families, friendships, and even human lives is one of the most prevalent
evils to plague our rotting society. It leaves man either a slave to substance or a walking corpse. When
users reach the end of the line, and realize their actions are in no way helpful, they may seek
rehabilitation. During rehabilitation, addicts may go through withdrawal. Withdrawal is both an
important and demanding time for recovering addicts. Withdrawal as a whole, and moreover its two
stages, acute and post acute withdrawal, is by no means an easy trial to endure.
Withdrawal occurs when a person stops using an agent such as alcohol, narcotics, or any other
addictive substance. This stage of recovery typically results in a number of uncomfortable side effects.
Common symptoms experienced by recovering addicts include depression, seclusion, anxiety,
insomnia, petulance, perspiration, nausea, and tremors. Contrary to what would be assumed,
alcoholics actually have one of the most dangerous withdrawal periods. Along with the previously
listed symptoms, they also risk seizures, heart attacks, strokes, and hallucinations. Despite the
obstacles faced during the withdrawal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As is the case with most recoveries, the beginning can easily be considered the worst part. The exact
length of acute withdrawal is rather inconsistent, as would be expected, seeing as how people are
fundamentally different. Despite the overall irregularity, this phase typically lasts up to a month or so.
As is the case with the length of this period, the symptoms vary greatly from person to person. Acute
withdrawal seems to be the time span when the majority of the physical symptoms are experienced,
albeit one person generally will not be exposed to all of them. Acute withdrawal may leave an addict
thinking that all the effort they put into recovery is futile, but they hold out hope that one day they will
be able to live a normal

More importantly how much it affects the rise. Also I wanted to see if I could find the the perfect amount of time to bake it for. I was able to find the time where I thought the cupcakes tasted the best at the end. Also this experiment was easy enough to conduct. I first made the batter which was from a box. I preheated the oven and filled each cupcake tin with one tablespoon batter each. I then put it in the oven for 10 minutes. When they were done I took them out and measured their height I repeated this step twice more, each for 10 minutes. I did the same procedure again for 15 minutes in the oven and again for 20. • 3. Business Cycle Of Recession Essay The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. Business cycles are composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough. Every period of economic growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The duration of each cycle varies sometimes 8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same. Recession are very harmful for the standards of living and economists try at all cause to avoid them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Recession is defined as a period of about six months that economy declines significantly. According to Amadeo, there are 5 economic indicators that will drop when a recession take place; real GDP, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Big businesses would try to lower their expenses by stop hiring or even cut the personal, which we saw previously with unemployment. Furthermore, businesses would cut costs by stop buying new equipment or eliminate advertisings which eventually would affect big and small companies involved as well. And that is how the cycle begins. Other problem companies and industries face are that because of the lousy economy recession carries, costumers might be delayed with their debts to the company. Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in reducing the valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies that cannot pay their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand, small businesses get yet worse than big businesses. Without big cash reserves and capital assets it makes it harder for these businesses to survive the recession (Davis, 2016). In conclusion, that is how many businesses get in bankrupt during the recessions. In the chart below is the data about the rate of bankruptcies in the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grand Slam Graphics Summary In the Article Grand Slam Graphics, Lisa Strausfeld, David Ingold, Christopher Cannon, and Jeremy Diamond go in depth to explore the business end of Major League baseball and create a polar area diagram to portray the information in a way to give the viewers a greater understanding of the article in whole. After an eye opening come across after the Los Angeles Dodgers spent nearly two billion dollars just on sales at the ballpark, the Bloomberg News spent nine months gathering and evaluating the numbers and statistics behind the business to in fact to see how much goes on behind the diamond. To put it into perspective, most fans of baseball would believe that whoever would win the World Series on any given year, that they would in fact be the most valuable team in baseball. In point, that is the total opposite. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Astoundingly, they are the most valuable team in baseball. To help put this in viewpoint, three graphs are shaped in this article to expose the massive amount of information that is available to discover in each of the teams values. Each graph displays many demographics that are classified in different sets such as total team value, team rankings in groups such as team revenue, gate receipts, concessions, sponsorship, media rights, parking, and attendance, and the two thousand and thirteen season results. The teams displayed are the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the St. Louis Cardinals. I for one believe that the In House designers put these three teams because two out of three of them are the first and second most valuable teams in the game, and the third one are the World Series champions. Likewise, they could have put the Cardinals in there to put in perspective how much money is collected in a given year compared to each team s value, which are significantly different. In fact, In House design judge Ed Roberts said This polar diagram is one of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why Whaling Should Be Allowed Did you know that about 236,000 whales were killed in the 19th century? Whaling can be a very controversial topic for a couple of years now. Whaling the practice or industry of hunting and killing whales for their oil, meat, or whalebone. Fishermen kill whales for materials, food; and sometimes even money. Whales can be killed by fishermen because they are needed for essential materials, and are also used as a food source. Some people think that whaling should not be allowed because it is destroying the population of whales. Whaling should be legal around the world because of two main reasons. Whales are used as a food source, and for essential materials like oil, and fertilizer. One of the main reasons whaling should be legal is because whales are used for food around the world. According to the article, How whaling works, it says Whale meat became breakfast, lunch and dinner (Perry 1). This explains how important whales are for food because it shows that people ate whale meat all of the time, and it was the only thing that people ate. Another piece of evidence is in the video on the abc website which says, Commercial whaling in Australia goes back almost 200 years and it was a big business. • 6. Alpha Spectroscopy Is A Technique For Quantification Of... Alpha spectroscopy is a technique for quantification of alpha particles and identification of its parent radionuclide using a silicon diode semiconductor detector [Knoll, 2010]. These detectors operate in a vacuum to enable them to detect alpha particles emitted from a source without degradation of the alpha particle energy. The alpha particles are transformed into electrical pulses which are amplified and shaped prior to conversion into a differentiated pulse height spectrum by a multichannel analyzer. The resultant spectrum is characteristic of the energy of the originally alpha particle and can therefore be used to identify the parent radionuclide [Boll et al, 1997]. This technique is excellent for differentiation of alpha emitters due to peak resolution of as high as 10 keV with typical resolution of 25 30 keV [Knoll, 2010]. The detection efficiency is relatively poor (3 20%), but because of the inherently low background of less than one count per hour in carefully controlled systems, low minimum detection concentrations are achievable [Knoll, 2010]. The method has a high sensitivity for detecting alpha emitting radionuclides. The ability to discriminate among different energy levels can be used for isotope specific measurements. If the alpha source is prepared in a proper way, there is no significant self absorption in the alpha source itself [Knoll, 2010]. The modern version of the silicon diode semiconductor detector is the passivated implanted planar silicon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR MILESTONES RELATED TO THE PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN EARLY, MIDDLE, AND LATE ADULTHOOD? BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THESE MILESTONES. There is a major difference between the studies of infancy; childhood, adolescence, and adulthood because doctors and researchers begin to investigate the loss of function, rather than the major increases of function seen in earlier years. EARLY ADULTHOOD: Major physical changes that occur in early adulthood include changes to the brain and nervous system, growth spurts, sex differences, declines in physical functioning, changes in the heart and lungs, changes in strength and speed, reproductive capacity, and immune system functioning. Within the brain and nervous system, most functions have become localized in specific areas of the brain, new synapses continue to form, myelinization is occurring, and old connections are dying off (Boyd Bee, 2006). Surprisingly, recent research has suggested that some parts of the brain produce new neurons to replace those that die (even within the brains of those in the early adulthood stage). The loss of physical functioning affects almost every major organ in young adulthood. More ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Importance Of Alcestis Silence For Athenian Women Euripides further demonstrates that he is not a feminist by denying Alcestis of her agency at the end of Alcestis. When Heracles brings Alcestis back after rescuing her from Death, she has lost the ability to speak for three days (Alc. 1142 1146). This action denies Alcestis of her agency in several ways. First, she was never able to actually finish dying to save her husband. By not being able to die, Alcestis never fully carried out the action that was going to give her agency and honor as a perfect wife. Secondly, Alcestis silence serves as a way to make her an obedient feminine wife. As Slater mentions, by presenting Alcestis in this way, Euripides shows that the true glory of an Athenian woman is silence (116). This creates a view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she had the ability to decide if she would be a wiling or unwilling victim, she had no choice in the fact that she was going to die. This is because Euripides let male characters make the decision that they would definitely sacrifice Iphigenia. As soon as Agamemnon found out that his daughter would have to be sacrificed so the Greeks would do well in the war, many men became involved. These men began to try and plot if they should sacrifice Iphigenia and if they were to go about saving her, how they should do so. As Christina Sorum points out, Iphigenia perpetuates the patriotic theme introduced by her father (541). Had Agamemnon never found out that it was prophesized that his daughter should be sacrificed in order for the Greeks to be successful, Iphigenia would have never had the opportunity to make the decision to willingly die. Essay On King Louis Xiv In the time before King Louis XIV s reign, 17th century France was involved in several civil wars, there were no secure borders and the aristocracy acted as local rulers. In 1643 when Louis XIV came to power, he thought that he needed to secure both France and his own rule. He decided to build a new palace complex 12 miles outside Paris. To him, isolation meant security, he would be away from the plotters and schemers in Paris. He also believed that having all government departments and ministries living within Versailles would centralize the government and create reform. • 10. Italian American Attitudes Towards Speech Summary Italian American attitudes towards speech not only is representative of their family orientated culture, but also for the role oral traditions as a medium for providing younger generations the necessary values and beliefs to thrive in what otherwise was a foreign society with different ideologies. Throughout Mount Allegro, Mangione repeatedly talks about the idea of second generation Italian immigrants being able to speak the parent s language, or mother tongue, Italian (Mangione 20 and 49 50). His mother, who reinforced the rule of only speaking Italian in the household, emphasizes the importance of being able to communicate in a language shared by everyone in the household: I don t want to hear anything but Italian in his house. One such lesson is the idea of never telling others about one s own problems or family problems. Particularly relevant in Mangione s anecdote about Comare Alfreda and Compare Calogero, in which Comare Alfreda discusses Compare Calogero s philandering to Jerre s mother (Mangione 168). As discussion of Compare Calogero s philandering to others could result in others, especially women, paying more attention to Compare Calogero, this could have resulted in Comare Alfreda s problems from coming true, emphasizing the sense of vulnerability when one reveals too much information. This particularly becomes relevant, as Mangione states that eventually the details of the story soon got around to [his] relatives (Mangione 180). In addition to keeping quiet about one s own problems, the idea of omereta, the oath of silence, is also a practice passed down through descent, due to the older generation s lack of faith in the law (Mangione ... Soldiers often went days without food. They did not have adequate clothing and footwear. When a soldier was wounded, proper medical care was nonexistent. Military doctors and nurses worked around the clock with limited resources to help soldiers. Fighting in war supplies the opportunity to face danger; however, who would have imagined basic human needs would go unmet? After a long day of marching through unknown territory, a meal was what soldier wished for. Sadly, they often did not have any food. These sites include eBay, WebStore, ebid, OnlineAuction, OZtion, Overstock, and a whole slew of others. Currently there is no system to protect consumers from fraudulent sales. When someone bids for an item, consumers trust both the seller and the online auctioneer to be both honest and ethical when presenting items for bid. Many of the auction houses, including Sotheby s and Christie s have their experts examine each piece to prove authenticity. However, it is not all bad news. It is a formless music, but because the performers are quite literally composing in the moment, there were three noticeable sections in the piece. The first part was developing an idea, slowly getting used to each other s sounds, sometimes gentle and sometime aggressive. Beginning of the improvisation the drumbeat is simple but rather random. There is no set pattern that I could find, but the tom tom pattern was rather similar so I think that was the main motif. The bass clarinet also started an idea, a 6 note pattern downward without any tonal center. He slowly develops this idea by playing a similar patters, or sequence, to concrete the idea for the audience but slightly mutating the motif little by little each time he plays it. He never plays the same way again. As the bass clarinet gets more active by increasing the amount of notes played and the intensity of the tone, the drum slowly matches the bass clarinet in aggressiveness. The drum plays very sudden loud snare drum occasionally, creating tension in the music with already atonal bass clarinet. Then the drummer starts to put a cymbal and a pad on two different drums to create a very dull thick sound. • 20. Vj Junction 1.) It can be assured that the heavy chain will create a VDJ junction but not a VJ junction because of the 12/23 rule. A gene segment flanked by an RSS with a 12 base pair spacer typically can only be joined to one flanked by a 23 base pair spacer RSS. So, for the heavy chain, a D segment can be joined to a J gene segment and a V gene segment to D gene segment but the V gene segment can not be directly joined to the J gene segment. Both the V and J gene segments are flanked by a 23 base pair spacer and the D segments have 12 base pair spacers on both sides. The light chain VJ junction will always be derived from a single type of light chain and not the result of κ or λ hybridization because the κ and λ are two separate loci that are located on two different chromosomes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The κ loci is located on human chromosome 2, the cluster of V gene segments is followed by a cluster of J gene segments and then a single C gene. The light chain VJ segment cannot be a product of κ or λ hybridization because in order for that to occur, they would have to be located on the same chromosome (Murphy 2012). Production of a complete antigen receptor includes two series of gene segment rearrangements, one for each receptor chain locus. Each of these rearrangements continues until a complete protein is made and the cell moves on to the next stage in development. The most important factor is the V regions that are encoded by separate gene segments (V, D and J segments), which are brought together by somatic recombination to create a complete V region exon. The V region of an immunoglobulin heavy or light chain is encoded by multiple gene segments. It was a large scale event almost unparalleled to that of any other in terms of people killed and atrocities committed. Violence against Jews and their properties were both commonplace and promoted, and anti Semitism among Nazis and their associates ran rampant. By unlawfully persecuting a particular race through state sponsored government support, racism flourished and led the way to a rise of an apocalyptic genocide. With authorization from the Nazi party allocated to its soldiers, troops confiscated Jewish property, pillaged numerous synagogues and stores, and murdered Jews in a short period of time. Reliable assistance to the suffering Jews was hard to find because of the Nazis brainwashing of the nation through abundant propaganda. This kind of widespread discrimination inhibited the Jewish people s ability to speak out against this obvious prejudice. Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church Getting to Heaven Some keep the Sabbath going to Church 236 In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church, the theme is that there is more than one way to get to Heaven(1, 1668). The persona suggests that this is true because they still have a relationship with God; they just worship differently than what is accepted by society. In the line that reads, And an Orchard, for a dome, Dickinson uses imagery to paint a picture for the reader(4, 1668). The image is an orchard of trees that provides her with a safe place for worship instead of the traditional church sanctuary. She is suggesting that nature, the things unspoiled by humankind, is whatone really needs for worship and gaining a relationship with God. This is another way that a middle man is used in religious practices. The Bible reads no one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Dickinson is going by the words of the Bible instead of the words of mankind. The final two lines of the poem read So instead of getting to Heaven, at last I m going, all along (11, 1668). The connotation of these words relay to the reader that along with all the church goers she, the one who exercises her own, individual beliefs and practices, will be right there with them going to Heaven.
