Julius Caesar And The Russian Revolution
For the longest time I have been obsessed with the murders of the Romanov family. These murders
took place during a time when Russia was struggling for power. It all started with the different
Revolutions that took place. In this essay I will explain the causes of the multiple revolutions and I
will also share the effects that the revolutions had. My main focus is to talk about the October
revolution which has one of the major events that led to the execution of the royal family. I will also
compare and contrast these events to the events that happened in the Shakespearian story Julius
Caesar. In the light of the Russian struggle there was a Revolution called the February Revolution
which came before the October revolution and dethroned Czar Nicholas II. ( 1917 Russian Revolution
Facts and Summary )The end result of this revolution was the birth of the Provisional Government
which was made up of high class Russians. The October Revolution is also known by two other
names: Russian Revolution and Bolshevik Revolution which occurred in November of 1917. This date
might catch some off guard, but according to ( Russian Revolution ) the Russians used a Julian
Calendar which means in Russia it was October . The Revolution was led by Vladimir Lenin, who was
the leader of the Bolshevik party at the time. The reason for both of the Revolutions is that the people
felt that they should not be involved in World War I while Russia was struggling to survive. The
Bolshevik party was made

Icehotel Culture
People travel to escape society s harsh reality or to experience life and what this beautiful world has to
offer. It s important to keep oneself cultured because it allows us humans to better understand one
another. Jukkasjarvi, Sweden is a melting pot for culture; its name derived from the sami s word for
meeting place. The Icehotel is a true winter wonderland; it s straight out of a fantasy beds, chairs,
tables and glasses everything is made of ice. The icehotel is located in the northern parts of sweden.
The torne river is a essential to supplying the ice hotel with snow and ice, there was a igloo named the
Arctic hall which featured art displays, films and church services. A guest asked to sleep in the Arctic
hall and the staff gave them reindeer skins and sleeping bags, the guest was thrilled with the the night
that s when Yngve Bergqvist came up with the idea of The Icehotel(Icehotel). The founder of The
Icehotel Yngve Bergqvist got the idea for the hotel from a guest he was inspired by a tradition of
japanese ice sculpting he then found japanese artist and made them instructors for artist he invites the
the hotel. To make sure the hotel was safe Bergqvist had a survival group of swedish armed forces to
see if sleeping 5° C (23° F) was possible and the group was thrilled that it was and it has been thrilling
for guest for years(Icehotel). Icehotel s founder Yngve Bergqvist was a self proclaimed cultural
entrepreneur. Almost every person that resided in Jukkasjarvi was once or is a miner, Bergqvist was on
a assessment on iron ore about 16.0934 km away from Kiruna. Bergqvist noticed the beauty and the
purity of the ice and snow, but he didn t just start out with the ice hotel; he started smaller with a 2690
square feet igloo. After the igloo stage he started creating the 6,456 square feet Icehotel. Doors made
of ice literally everything made of ice (Bortz). doors to instruments made of ice and wires that glow
blue are laid all over the hotel to give it more of a cool tone of color. There are very few places to get

How Did Woodrow Wilson Become Conservative
New Nationalism In 1907, major firms in the stock market declared bankruptcy, leading to an event
called the Panic of 1907. This caused a recession, or a decline in spending and employment. Many
business leaders blamed this financial crisis on the Progressive reforms of Roosevelt. The economy
recovered by 1909, casting some doubt on these previous accusations. However, Roosevelt lost the
nomination for a third term and left the presidency in 1909. William Howard Taft, Roosevelt s
successor, became the next president, but he angered many progressive Republicans by not being firm
enough in controlling big business. As a result, a progressive faction, or offshoot, formed in the
Republican Party. This development created tension between progressives ... Show more content on

In response, Congress passed the Underwood Tariff Act in 1913. This act lowered the average rates of
tariffs from 40 percent to 25 percent. The law also removed tariffs entirely from certain goods such as
sugar, wool, iron ore, and steel. This allowed the prices of those imported goods to compete with
similar products of American producers, which benefited American consumers. Banking Wilson also
argued for an extensive reform of banking and currency laws. He thought that the banking system
needed to run more efficiently to enhance businesses. To accomplish this, Wilson supported the
establishment of a nationwide centralized banking system. He also believed that a new federal
currency was needed to assist the flow of money. Six months later, Congress passed the Federal
Reserve Act of 1913, which formed a national banking and currency system similar to the one Wilson
supported. Twelve Federal Reserve Banks were created with the authority to issue Federal Bank
Notes, the official U.S. currency, to nationally chartered private banks. Those banks were able to
borrow the money at a fixed interest rate. The rate did not rise during the period when the loan was
repaid. This kept the banking system

OHSU Secondary: What experience have you had that has given you insight into the patients you
hope to eventually serve? (1500 characters) Before entering my master s program at Tulane University
School of Medicine (TUSOM), I had the chance to volunteer in the surgical department at Providence
Willamette Falls Medical Center (PWFMC). While volunteering, the majority of my patient
interactions involved helping patients in any way possible, which usually meant simply talking with
and comforting them. After all, most patients do not choose to be in the hospital and are to some
extent afraid. They become scared as they attempt to contemplate the personal and financial costs of
their ailments for both themselves and their loved ones. This awareness was further highlighted
studying, observing, and volunteering at TUSOM. Most notably, shadowing Dr. Douglas Slakey, a
surgical specialist, and his team in the gastrointestinal (GI) clinic at Tulane Medical Center.
Witnessing Dr. Slakey explain the surgical options for a pancreatic cancer patient and their family was
saddening, but it also reiterated crucial aspects of the profession. Most importantly, patients and their
family members may not fully understand their ailments; as physicians do with years of training and
experience. This unusual situation creates a particular anxiety and discomfort for the patient, which is
why it is crucial that doctors exercise sympathy and empathy. Patients need to know that you sincerely

Analysis Of Gorman Beauchamp s Article, Technology
In Gorman Beauchamp s article, Technology in the Dystopian Novel, he writes: collectivism and
technology, that is, are mutually exclusive (56). Collectivism is defined as: the practice or principle of
giving a group priority over each individual in it. This idea is incredibly relevant in today s society.
Our world, because of modern technology, has become incredibly individualistic. Cell phones,
personal computers, tablets, and other personal technological devices have all been created with the
intent to improve communication and connecting individuals in a much easier fashion. Devices are
customized to the individual making it more in sync with the individual. While these devices have
contributed overall in creating a more globalized world, individual cultures, especially in the United
States, no longer have the group priority Beauchamp was referring to. This becomes extremely
apparent in the youth of today s societies. Distractions from cell phones continually disrupt the
cohesion in the classroom, playground, and in the homes. Because of the frequency of use on these
personal devices, interpersonal communication is greatly hindered. Interpersonal skills are important
for a culture to thrive and to be successful. It is unknown what kind of effects technology will have in
the long run towards face to face communications and interpersonal relationships. The science fiction
book series, Divergent, has an interesting solution for what happens when societies let technology

The Meaning Of The Word In English Literature
During literature class, where we read narrative that goes from the middle ages to the present, I noted
that in many writings, several words appeared constantly in different stories from different authors
that nowadays, are less used or uncommon. Including bosom , alas , nay , gay . Where bosom was
used to refer to the chest as the seat of emotions. Alas used an exclamation to express sorrow, grief,
pity, or concern. These words were commonly used in the Middle English 1225 75. Nay is a denial or
refusal that was substituted simply for no . However, the word that had an even more drastic change of
its meaning was gay .
This project analyzes and investigates how common this word was in the English narrative. A
hypothesis will be created of the reasons why its meaning may have changed. An example of its use in
literature will be presented through different periods of time with different authors. At the beginning,
according to the Oxford dictionary and the website dictionary.com, gay evolved from given to or
abounding in social or other pleasures; bright or show; having or showing a merry, lively mood. To ,
in a certain period of time, changed drastically to mean sexually unrestrained or having loose morals.
Turned to be an offensive synonymous for awkward, stupid, bad or lame. At the end, nowadays is
relating to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one s own
sex; homosexual.
Hypothesis: Originally, the word gay

Abstract: Streptococcus is a bacteria that has been evolving through the recent centuries. A new form
of these bacteria from group A streptococcus is becoming resistant and creating a whole new kind of
this disease. The new form of this disease is twenty seven percent resistant to the antibiotic and is
causing pneumonia meningitis in children. The new cures being created to fight against these bacteria
are great except for that the new vaccine has no effect on children. Researches have finally found a
vaccine that is effective on children because of a protein that is attached to the vaccine. Within a

There are three kinds or groups of streptococcus A, B, and C group. Group A streptococcus are known
as streptococcus pyogenes, which are also known as S pyogene. In 1884 the organism was named s
pyogene by the scientist Rosebach (Sat Sharma MD, 2004). Though the bacteria wasn t named till
1884 it was first described by Billroth in 1874. Streptococcus is known to cause the diseases
rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, pneumonias, sinusitis, and
Streptococcus Group A 2 ear infections (American Academy of Otolaryngology). There are antibiotics
for these diseases, but over the years they have been becoming more resistant.
Streptococcus is becoming more resistant to antibiotics. Over a period of three years from September
1, 1993 to August 31, 1996 a study was done on children suffering from the resistant group A
streptococcus (Dr. Arditi, 1999). This new group A strain caused children pneumococcal meningitis.
Researches looked at eight different hospitals in the United States and one hundred and eighty cases
within these three years. The study was designed to look at clinical presentation, hospital course, and
the outcome from the children being cured. As they watched and monitored the children s progress on
the different antibiotics used to cure streptococcus. Also the researchers has to take into consideration
if the streptococcus was becoming resistant, which antibiotics were given as treatment, and from those
antibiotics which streptococcus became

Comparing Empathy in Blade Runner and Slaughterhouse-Five...
Empathy in Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep)and Slaughterhouse Five
What does it mean to be human? This is a question that is often asked in literary works. Is it our
intelligence that separates us from being like any other animal on this planet or is it something else?
Perhaps it is our ability to feel empathy for other humans and other forms of life. If this is so, then
how is it that we also have violence and wars where humans hurt and kill other humans? How is it that
humans can hurt animals without a second thought, if it s our ability to feel empathy that separates us
from them? Both Philip K. Dick and Kurt Vonnegut explore these questions in their novels Blade
Runner (Do Androids Dream ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone is a follower of Mercerism, which encourages people to feel empathy for others and for
animals. In this manner, everyone on Earth survives without feeling that he or she is alone. The main
character of Blade Runner is Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter for the Los Angeles police department.
Several androids had killed their owners on Mars and had escaped to Earth. The first bounty hunter
that went after them managed to retire two before being put in the hospital himself. It was up to
Deckard to destroy the remaining six. Unfortunately, the androids who escaped were the new Nexus 6
types, which looked and acted exactly like real humans. They were even more intelligent than most
humans. The only way to tell them apart from real humans is by measuring the amount of empathy
they can feel, which isn t as great as humans. While hunting these rouge androids, Deckard s whole
perception of what it is to be human gets questioned and he begins to wonder if there is that much
difference between a human and an android.
Slaughterhouse Five, is based on the author s real life experiences in World War II. In fact, chapter one
of the book is all about how Vonnegut is going about writing this novel. The main character of this
book, though, is a civilian named Billy Pilgrim, who through unfortunate circumstances ends up on
the enemy side of the line during the war. He

Counseling Family Confidentiality
Chapter 10: Counseling Families and Groups Counseling families can be difficult to enforce
confidentiality that can be difficult t o make obligatory in group settings. Therefore, counselors should
make extra efforts to ensure that group members understand the concept on how important
confidentiality is (Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.271). Chapter 10 provides information on developing
diversity and values in family and group counseling.
How is confidentiality different when counseling couples, families, or groups, as opposed to
counseling an individual client? According to the text book, confidentiality is different with couples
and families due to privileged communication. When dealing with married couples, there are
situations where stressful topics are discussed between the husband and the wife and later on a divorce
may occur. One of the spouses may want a counselor to repeat confidential information in a legal
court about the other spouse during their counseling sessions, whereas, the other spouse wants to keep
her information enclosed ( Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.256).When counseling an individual client, the
client is the only person that the counselor have to obligate to when ensuring confidentiality. ACA
Codes of Ethics states that in a couples and family counseling, counselors clearly defines who is

Analysis Of Menagerie By John Williams
Looking at John Lahr s recent biography, he frames the history of Williams s life based on textual
readings of his plays. The notion that Williams s plays were heavily autobiographical is now a
generally accepted interpretation used to connect the disparate nature of his texts. As many
contemporary scholars do, Lahr reads Menagerie as biographical portraits of his mother and sister
when they lived in St. Louis, Streetcar drawing from his experience in New Orleans and his
tempestuous relationship with Pancho Rodriguez, Cat referencing Williams s uneasy relationship with
his father, and Suddenly Last Summer documenting both his experiences with therapy and his sister s

At the same time, it seems impossible to deny Menagerie was in some way based on Williams s life;
he drew from his experiences in St. Louis crafting Amanda after his mother Edwina and Laura after
his sister Rose. The use of his family members for models of this early work is undeniable. However,
the over emphasis of Williams s use of autobiography helps situate Menagerie as naturalistic because
Williams was drawing from real memories. While Williams was inspired by his personal life in some
regards, his contribution to literature was never a faithful reconstruction of his personal history.
Williams was inspired by his personal life in some regards, but his additions to literature were never a
faithful reconstruction of personal history. Williams s brother Dakin recalls his mother Edwina did not
recognize herself as Amanda when she saw Menagerie:
Edwina went backstage to congratulate Laurette on her performance. The actress was sitting with her
feet up on the radiator, keeping warm. To quote Edwina: Before I had a chance to get out a word, she
greeted me: How did you like you seff, Miz Williams? I was so shocked I didn t know what to say ...
And even afterward, Edwina said, I am not Amanda. The only resemblance I have to Amanda is that
we both like jonquils.

HR Issues Handled By Japanese Organizations Based On Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions There are
several different challenges for Human Resource Management teams in organizations throughout the
world. The HR strategies of these various organizations are very dependent on the culture of the
country in which the organization resides. Hofstede s theory of cultural dimensions is a great way to

Both societies have a wide range of distribution of power between the lower and higher ranking
officials within an organization. The two countries are so close in the power distance ranking that I do
not believe that the HR policies in each would be significantly different. Japan scores much higher
that the United States in the Uncertainty Avoidance category. Japanese businesses are in favor of
predicting and controlling future events in order to avoid the uncertain (Ivancevich, 2010). This is
quite different from the U.S. which scores relatively low in the category. U.S. organizations tend to
take more risks and plan activities on a day to day basis. When planning to hire employees in the U.S.,
HR would most likely look for candidates who are more aggressive and self motivated. However,
Japanese organizations might look for more of an organized and conservative person to fill the role.
Predictability is key since the Japanese prefer to plan and organize situations so that there are no
surprises. Masculinity is also very high in Japan. Masculine societies tend to have men who hold
assertive and competitive qualities (Hofstede, 2011). This includes strict roles between males and
females. Males in Japan are expected to work and support the family, while women are responsible for
taking care of the household (Bestore and Hardacre, 2004, para.56). This makes it very difficult for
females to work outside the house. This is quite the

Primary And Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency
Adrenal Insufficiency This paper describes the differences between primary and secondary adrenal
insufficiency. As health care providers it is important to be able to distinguish between the two and to
know how to treat the patient. It is also imperative that an acute adrenal crisis can be recognized. This
paper will discuss how to recognize and treat adrenal insufficiency.
Primary adrenal insufficiency Primary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands fail to
release glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, despite the release of adrenocorticotrophic hormone
(ACTH) from the pituitary, and may be fatal if untreated (Griffing, 2015). Margulies (2015) describes

A medical history is very important if the patient has any symptoms mentioned above, especially
hyperpigmentation of the skin or gums, it is often enough to raise a strong suspicion, prompting the
appropriate tests. The following tests are appropriate to order to diagnose adrenal insufficiency: Serum
chemistry, abnormalities are present in as many as 56% of patients. Hyponatremia is common
although not diagnostic; hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycemia also may be present.
However, the absence of laboratory abnormalities does not exclude the diagnosis of adrenal crisis.
Serum cortisol, less than 20 mcg/dL in severe stress or after ACTH stimulation is indicative of adrenal
insufficiency. ACTH test which is diagnostic, determine baseline serum cortisol, then administer
ACTH 250 mcg intravenous push (IVP), and then draw serum cortisol 30 and 60 minutes after ACTH
administration. An increase of less than nine mcg/dL is considered diagnostic of adrenal insufficiency.

between officers and non commissioned officers (NCO) in the military still prevails on the social and

issue of class structure which is attributed to the differences in the educational levels between them.
NCOs are treated in the same manner as a low category enlisted men and as such do not serve as a

The Path Of Becoming A Doctor Essay

Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems...
Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems from a 1945 computer architecture
description by the physicist, mathematician, and polymath John von Neumann and others. This
describes a design architecture for an electronic digital computer with a control unit containing an
instruction register and program counter , external mass storage, subdivisions of a processing unit
consisting of arithmetic logic unit and processor registers, a memory to store both data and commands,
also an input and output mechanisms. The meaning of the term has grown to mean a stored program

Add the span or extent of the instruction to the program counter.
Interpret the instruction using the control unit. Meanwhile, The control unit commands the rest of the
computer to perform some type of operation. The instruction may change the address in the program
counter, thus permitting repetitive operations. The instruction may also change the program counter .
this is done only if some arithmetic condition is true, thus giving the effect of a decision, which can be
calculated to any degree of complexity by the preceding arithmetic and logic.
Once all of this is done, it is programed to go back to step 1.
The design of The Von Neumann architecture is a little more straightforward than the more modern
Harvard architecture. It too is a stored program system; nevertheless, it has one dedicated set of
address and data buses for reading data from and imprinting data to memory, and an additional set of
address and data buses for obtaining instructions. Von Neumann devoted most of his Preliminary
Discussion to the design of the arithmetic unit. The details of this are the least interesting part of the
paper from the standpoint of the organization of his computer, and its influence on future
developments. The capabilities of the arithmetic unit were limited to the performance of some
arbitrary subset of the possible arithmetic operations. He observes that the

Chewing Company was founded in 1904 by the Pinkerton Company. Back in the day before TV, the
Pinkerton Company would advertise Red Man by putting their logo on the side of buildings and barns.
Their logo was a red indian, indians were said to smoke a lot of tobacco. Red Man tobacco flourished
in a lot of the southern states because that s where the tobacco is grown and made into chewing
tobacco. Pinkerton Company s marketing material describes Red Man s consumer base as A large
number of consumers work outdoors and enjoy hunting, fishing and watching auto racing .By
Pinkerton Company saying this, they were basically saying that only men who work, hunt and fish use
Red Man. There were plenty of men who did not work nor did they like to hunt and fish who would

Television Has The Power Of The Television Program By...
As a polysemic text, television has the power to inspire a range of interpretations according to the
encoding of the producers and the decoding of the televisual consumer. As first described by Stuart
Hall in Encoding/Decoding, and then by Horace Newcomb and Paul Hirsch in Television as a Cultural
Forum there exist three basic categories of potential readings of a singular text within the broad range
of potential interpretations: dominant or preferred, negotiated, and oppositional, each of which
depends on the ideological, political, and social position of the interpreter, as well as their experiences,
which makes them, according to Newcomb and Hirsch cultural interpreters, or cultural bricoleurs. As
such, Documentary Now! elicits three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The band in the episode, The Blue Jean Committee, is modelled after the Eagles and other 1970s
California soft rock bands, exemplified in the songs they play within the episode, such as Catalina
Breeze , a blatant parody of California Dreamin by The Mamas and Papas. As such, the episode
parodies this entire genre and era of rock n roll. Furthermore, the episode derives meaning from the
intertextual roles of the show s creators and stars Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Seth Meyers, who
have prominent careers in contemporary television. Each of these men starred together on Saturday
Night Live, a show built on parody and intertextual humor. Thus, audiences, if they are familiar with
the creators and stars, are primed to decode the episode as a similarly light hearted parody based on
their previous knowledge. These audience expectations are reinforced by the creators other roles on
television, which also include parodies, such as, Seth Meyers job hosting Late Night and Fred
Armisen s other show. Portlandia, on IFC, a network known for its parodic programs. Viewers
knowledge of these circumstances affects the ways in which they decode the episode Gentle and Soft
according to Newcomb and Hirsch, who insist, in their forum concept, that in viewing television,
members of the audience bring their own knowledge, experience, and concerns to the texts, which

Human Trafficking In East Asia
Human trafficking is a global problem in which globalization have had an important role. There are
many forms of trafficking in persons such as sexual exploitation the most known form , forced labor,
organ harvesting, etc. Its annual profit exceeds of 39 billion dollars, making it the third largest
international crime industry, only behind illegal drugs, and arms trafficking.
Traffickers use coercion, deception, or abduction to get their victims. They take advantage of the
vulnerability of children, woman, and men who live in poverty or are looking for more favorable
opportunities and lured them into leaving their home and travelling to what they assume will be a
better life, just to realize later it s not.
Women and girls are most of the victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation; women stand for 60%
and girls represent between 15% and 20%. Between two and four million girls are globally trafficked

While sexual exploitation is the main form of trafficking in Europe and Central Asia, in East Asia and
the Pacific it is forced labor. This variety of human trafficking has increased steadily in recent years;
around 40% of the victims between 2010 and 2012 were trafficked for this purpose. Immigrants are
particularly vulnerable on forced labor, the demand of cheap labor contributes to the illegal trade of
humans, just to reduce costs of production. This is the fault of companies who look for low price
labor, without caring about the safety, human, and health conditions of their workers.
Globalization has brought many advantages, we are more interconnected than ever before, with
increased levels of telecommunication between countries, it is easy to share information, etc., but this
has also helped the human traffic to fast grow across the

Trauma In Forensic Pathological Analysis
Introduction
When a person dies, the natural forces of decomposition cause for the soft tissue to breakdown and
ultimately disappear over time. If enough time has gone by, any soft tissue evidence present at the
time of death will also have disappeared. Once this has occurred, it is up to forensic anthropologists to
analyze the skeletal remains for evidence of trauma in order to help the forensic pathologist assign a
cause and manner of death to this individual. The task is complicated by the similarities between
antemortem and perimortem injuries, the presence of skeletal anomalies, as well as the postmortem
changes that can occur when skeletal remains are exposed to the elements of nature.
Although procedures and protocols have been established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nakhaeizadeh et al. studied the power of contextual effects in producing bias in interpretations of
trauma on skeletal remains. Ninety nine forensic anthropologists were randomly assigned to three
different websites, all of which contained the very same fourteen images of bones that contained
known trauma, pseudo trauma, anomalies, and taphonomical process characteristics. However, one
website included contextual information with the images, reporting that they were from a mass grave.
The second website reported that the bones in the images came from an archaeological dig in an area
with a known low level of trauma. Finally, the third website was a control and contained no contextual
information. The participants were asked to assign levels of trauma to each picture, with varying
options available. The results concluded that there were significantly higher recordings of trauma in
the bones affiliated with the mass grave than the exact same pictures of bones from the other two
websites (Nakhaeizadeh et al.,

Poisoning by Ingestion of Corrosive Chemicals
Introduction: Acute corrosive poisonings are caused by ingestion of corrosive chemicals which are
most commonly used as household agents. Intoxications with these kind of agents produce numerous
and severe post corrosive complications of the upper gastrointestinal tract. On the other hand, our
experience showed that corrosive agents may also cause injuries of the respiratory system, which
makes the treatment very hard and additionally complicates the severe clinical condition of the patient.
Objective: The aim of the study is to show the incidence of respiratory complications in acute
corrosive poisonings, the need of various clinical investigations and also the treatment and final
outcome of these kind of poisoning.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical records of 415 patients hospitalized and treated at the
University clinic for toxicology and urgent internal medicine, in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, in
the period between 2007 and 2011. The protocol consisted of methods for analyzing the systemic
complications, with an accent on the post corrosive respiratory complications.
Results: From the total number of patients even 98 (23.61%) exhibited systemic complications, from
which 51 (52.04%) are respiratory complications. The majority of patients are female (n=40, 78.43%)
and the most common complication is pneumonia (n=47). The youngest patient in this study was 14

While tides are most commonly associated with oceans, gravity creates tides in the atmosphere and
even the lithosphere. Gravity is one of the major forces responsible for creating tides. Another is
inertia, which is the force that acts to counterbalance gravity. Together, gravity and inertia are
responsible for the creation of two major tidal bulges on the earth. The gravitational effects of the
moon and the sun affect the Earth s tides on a monthly basis.

Oceanfront land is considered prime real estate. Private owners and government projects take a
number of different steps to protect land and property. Discuss some of the techniques and structures
used to prevent loss of property due to erosion. Are these methods successful?
A: Some methods to prevent soil erosion are, planting vegetation because it lessens the impact of
rainfall to soil. Another method is to build retaining walls because The retaining wall will act as a
shield for the soil and prevent soil erosion from occurring. Yet another method that I have seen used
regularly is tarpping and sand bagging. This is where you take large plastic sheets, or tarps and lay
them down on the area in which you wish to prevent erosion. Then the sand bags are placed along the
edges to keep the tarp from blowing away. These methods do not completely stop erosion all together,
but they do lessen the time it would originally take without any protection.

The idea of gender is important to a person, it is one of the important aspects about how we identify
ourselves. Bodies may be our friends or enemies, a source of pain or pleasure, a place of liberation or
domination, but they are also the material with which we experience and create gender (Schrock, Reid

Sakoku, or the National Seclusion of Japan
Sakoku, or the national seclusion, of Japan by the Tokugawa Iemitsu in the 1630s was one of the most
important periods in Japanese history. Many people perceived that Japan became uniquely unique
because of the Sakoku. However, during the Sakoku, Japan was not complete sealed off from foreign
influences and trades. The national seclusion of Japan is believed by some people that there is only
limited trade with the Dutch and Chinese in Nagasaki. According to Oxford Art Online during the Edo
period, the Bay of Nagasaki is the only port open to overseas trade (Bonnie), which was not true.
During the Sakoku, Japan was not restricted to only the bay in Nagasaki, but Japan had total of four
designated places that allowed foreign contacts. Before the detail of the four areas of foreign relations
during the Sakoku period, the reasons for the Sakoku need to be explained. The widespread of
Christianity in Japan started because of Oda Nobunaga encouraged missionaries to convert many
Japanese to Christians because he wanted to reduce the influence of Buddhist monasteries. However,
his successors did not share the same view. Hideyoshi felt threaten by Christians, especially the
Catholics because of several reasons. One of these reasons was that the Spaniards conquered the
islands of Philippines (Watts). Another reason is that Hideyoshi felt threaten with the concept of
foreign ruler that many Catholics recognized, the Catholic Pope. The tension finally escalated when

Ecolab
Discuss how the leadership talent pipeline at Ecolab was critical to executing its business strategy.
The CEO and executives got together and came up with a strategy that grows the company. They had
to capitalize on success to capture greater share in markets. What this mean is they had to go a step
higher than where the company currently stands. I think because they don t want to get comfortable
and stuck and can t grow. They also are looking for new opportunities for the company to expand.
With this being said they are trying to develop a broader range of cleaning and sanitizing products.
They want to keep up with competition and exceed them. I think once they got everything done
nationally they want to go globally; they probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me, new ideas are what grow the company.
Discuss the critical elements of the talent pipeline model at Ecolab. a. Analysis of the number of new
associates who would be necessary to lead the workforce would be a critical element. Basically they
were preparing for the growth of the company by making sure the management team and leaders. So
they had to promote within the company and then bring in new employees to train. They would also
hire from outside the company but why do that if you have qualified individuals at the company. It
will cost less and probably be more beneficial to the company. b. Expanding recruiting efforts which
was usually done by the HR department. If they are expanding they know they are going to have to
use their resources because they want to make sure they are hiring the best of the best. c. Redefining
high potential was also a critical element. They aren t just basing it on the performance but on
capability, ambition and commitment. Just because they perform their jobs well doesn t mean they
could take on the new roles. d. Talent council is basically the CEO and executive that s watching and
seeing who is growing. They are pushing the managers so they can continue to push employees which
will continue to grow the business.
Discuss the result of the talent manager strategy at Ecolab.

How Technology Is Becoming More Widespread
These days technology is becoming more widespread. The question is are we still reading as
attentively and thoroughly as we used to due to these new portable ways of reading. The main issue
here is that our attention is divided between pixels and link as our brains respond differently to
onscreen text than to words on paper. There have been many published studies since 1980 s where
researchers from different fields like psychology, computer engineering and information science have
brought up such issues in more than one hundred published studies. Many of these studies done before
1992, always concluded that people read slowly, less accurately and less comprehensively on screens
than on paper. In recent studies, it shows that people still like to read from paper especially when they
want to read intensively. Although the e reading technology is gaining more popularity and becoming
more common, people s attitudes are changing. They read these books for facts and fun. In the US,
there is about 15 to 20 percent of all trade book sales (Jabr, 2013). People are known to be less
conducive to learning from computers and tablets as compared to paper. Reading has a physicality.
When we already have an e book we start to miss it. There was a study done in January 2013 by Anne
Mangen of the University of Stavanger in Norway. Her colleagues and she asked 72 10th grade
students with similar reading ability to study one narrative and one expository text. Each essay was

Food Insecurity Is A Fact For Millions Of Americans
Food insecurity is a fact for millions of American every day in our country. Children, adults, and the
elderly of all races, living in poverty or in lower middle class families, are at a higher risk of not
having enough to eat. The United States, in 2012, used roughly 40% or 915 million acres of all US
land as farmland (USDA 2014, 1), yet as a nation we cannot feed all of our people. The American
government subsidizes commodity crops, such as corn, wheat, and soy more than any other type of
crop in the United States, (This does not include the subsidies directly paid to the meat and dairy
industry, which is a whole other paper!). Government subsidies are less common for the production of
fresh fruits and vegetables. Government subsidies encourage farmers to grow commodity crops
instead of growing fruits and vegetables for consumers at competitive prices creating food insecurity.
The cheap production of commodity crops force families in the lower middle class and poverty to
choose a diet of processed food, which are less nutritious than fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole
grains causing many of the health problems that we see in the population today. According to the
USDA website in 2015, 12.7 percent, or 15.8 million of American households were food insecure. A
food insecure household is a household that had difficulty at some time during the year providing
enough nutritious food for all the members in a household due to a lack of resources (Coleman Jensen,

  • 2. Julius Caesar And The Russian Revolution For the longest time I have been obsessed with the murders of the Romanov family. These murders took place during a time when Russia was struggling for power. It all started with the different Revolutions that took place. In this essay I will explain the causes of the multiple revolutions and I will also share the effects that the revolutions had. My main focus is to talk about the October revolution which has one of the major events that led to the execution of the royal family. I will also compare and contrast these events to the events that happened in the Shakespearian story Julius Caesar. In the light of the Russian struggle there was a Revolution called the February Revolution which came before the October revolution and dethroned Czar Nicholas II. ( 1917 Russian Revolution Facts and Summary )The end result of this revolution was the birth of the Provisional Government which was made up of high class Russians. The October Revolution is also known by two other names: Russian Revolution and Bolshevik Revolution which occurred in November of 1917. This date might catch some off guard, but according to ( Russian Revolution ) the Russians used a Julian Calendar which means in Russia it was October . The Revolution was led by Vladimir Lenin, who was the leader of the Bolshevik party at the time. The reason for both of the Revolutions is that the people felt that they should not be involved in World War I while Russia was struggling to survive. The Bolshevik party was made ... • 7. How Did Woodrow Wilson Become Conservative New Nationalism In 1907, major firms in the stock market declared bankruptcy, leading to an event called the Panic of 1907. This caused a recession, or a decline in spending and employment. Many business leaders blamed this financial crisis on the Progressive reforms of Roosevelt. The economy recovered by 1909, casting some doubt on these previous accusations. However, Roosevelt lost the nomination for a third term and left the presidency in 1909. William Howard Taft, Roosevelt s successor, became the next president, but he angered many progressive Republicans by not being firm enough in controlling big business. As a result, a progressive faction, or offshoot, formed in the Republican Party. This development created tension between progressives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In response, Congress passed the Underwood Tariff Act in 1913. This act lowered the average rates of tariffs from 40 percent to 25 percent. The law also removed tariffs entirely from certain goods such as sugar, wool, iron ore, and steel. This allowed the prices of those imported goods to compete with similar products of American producers, which benefited American consumers. Banking Wilson also argued for an extensive reform of banking and currency laws. He thought that the banking system needed to run more efficiently to enhance businesses. To accomplish this, Wilson supported the establishment of a nationwide centralized banking system. He also believed that a new federal currency was needed to assist the flow of money. Six months later, Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which formed a national banking and currency system similar to the one Wilson supported. Twelve Federal Reserve Banks were created with the authority to issue Federal Bank Notes, the official U.S. currency, to nationally chartered private banks. Those banks were able to borrow the money at a fixed interest rate. The rate did not rise during the period when the loan was repaid. This kept the banking system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(1500 characters) Before entering my master s program at Tulane University School of Medicine (TUSOM), I had the chance to volunteer in the surgical department at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (PWFMC). While volunteering, the majority of my patient interactions involved helping patients in any way possible, which usually meant simply talking with and comforting them. After all, most patients do not choose to be in the hospital and are to some extent afraid. They become scared as they attempt to contemplate the personal and financial costs of their ailments for both themselves and their loved ones. This awareness was further highlighted studying, observing, and volunteering at TUSOM. Most notably, shadowing Dr. Douglas Slakey, a surgical specialist, and his team in the gastrointestinal (GI) clinic at Tulane Medical Center. Witnessing Dr. Slakey explain the surgical options for a pancreatic cancer patient and their family was saddening, but it also reiterated crucial aspects of the profession. Most importantly, patients and their family members may not fully understand their ailments; as physicians do with years of training and experience. This unusual situation creates a particular anxiety and discomfort for the patient, which is why it is crucial that doctors exercise sympathy and empathy. • 9. Analysis Of Gorman Beauchamp s Article, Technology In Gorman Beauchamp s article, Technology in the Dystopian Novel, he writes: collectivism and technology, that is, are mutually exclusive (56). Collectivism is defined as: the practice or principle of giving a group priority over each individual in it. This idea is incredibly relevant in today s society. Our world, because of modern technology, has become incredibly individualistic. Cell phones, personal computers, tablets, and other personal technological devices have all been created with the intent to improve communication and connecting individuals in a much easier fashion. Devices are customized to the individual making it more in sync with the individual. While these devices have contributed overall in creating a more globalized world, individual cultures, especially in the United States, no longer have the group priority Beauchamp was referring to. This becomes extremely apparent in the youth of today s societies. Distractions from cell phones continually disrupt the cohesion in the classroom, playground, and in the homes. Because of the frequency of use on these personal devices, interpersonal communication is greatly hindered. Interpersonal skills are important for a culture to thrive and to be successful. It is unknown what kind of effects technology will have in the long run towards face to face communications and interpersonal relationships. The science fiction book series, Divergent, has an interesting solution for what happens when societies let technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Meaning Of The Word In English Literature During literature class, where we read narrative that goes from the middle ages to the present, I noted that in many writings, several words appeared constantly in different stories from different authors that nowadays, are less used or uncommon. Including bosom , alas , nay , gay . Where bosom was used to refer to the chest as the seat of emotions. Alas used an exclamation to express sorrow, grief, pity, or concern. These words were commonly used in the Middle English 1225 75. Nay is a denial or refusal that was substituted simply for no . However, the word that had an even more drastic change of its meaning was gay . This project analyzes and investigates how common this word was in the English narrative. A hypothesis will be created of the reasons why its meaning may have changed. An example of its use in literature will be presented through different periods of time with different authors. At the beginning, according to the Oxford dictionary and the website dictionary.com, gay evolved from given to or abounding in social or other pleasures; bright or show; having or showing a merry, lively mood. To , in a certain period of time, changed drastically to mean sexually unrestrained or having loose morals. Turned to be an offensive synonymous for awkward, stupid, bad or lame. At the end, nowadays is relating to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one s own sex; homosexual. Hypothesis: Originally, the word gay ... • 12. Comparing Empathy in Blade Runner and Slaughterhouse-Five... Empathy in Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep)and Slaughterhouse Five What does it mean to be human? This is a question that is often asked in literary works. Is it our intelligence that separates us from being like any other animal on this planet or is it something else? Perhaps it is our ability to feel empathy for other humans and other forms of life. If this is so, then how is it that we also have violence and wars where humans hurt and kill other humans? How is it that humans can hurt animals without a second thought, if it s our ability to feel empathy that separates us from them? Both Philip K. Everyone is a follower of Mercerism, which encourages people to feel empathy for others and for animals. In this manner, everyone on Earth survives without feeling that he or she is alone. The main character of Blade Runner is Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter for the Los Angeles police department. Several androids had killed their owners on Mars and had escaped to Earth. The first bounty hunter that went after them managed to retire two before being put in the hospital himself. It was up to Deckard to destroy the remaining six. Unfortunately, the androids who escaped were the new Nexus 6 types, which looked and acted exactly like real humans. They were even more intelligent than most humans. The only way to tell them apart from real humans is by measuring the amount of empathy they can feel, which isn t as great as humans. While hunting these rouge androids, Deckard s whole perception of what it is to be human gets questioned and he begins to wonder if there is that much difference between a human and an android. Slaughterhouse Five, is based on the author s real life experiences in World War II. In fact, chapter one of the book is all about how Vonnegut is going about writing this novel. Counseling Family Confidentiality Chapter 10: Counseling Families and Groups Counseling families can be difficult to enforce confidentiality that can be difficult t o make obligatory in group settings. Therefore, counselors should make extra efforts to ensure that group members understand the concept on how important confidentiality is (Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.271). Chapter 10 provides information on developing diversity and values in family and group counseling. How is confidentiality different when counseling couples, families, or groups, as opposed to counseling an individual client? According to the text book, confidentiality is different with couples and families due to privileged communication. When dealing with married couples, there are situations where stressful topics are discussed between the husband and the wife and later on a divorce may occur. One of the spouses may want a counselor to repeat confidential information in a legal court about the other spouse during their counseling sessions, whereas, the other spouse wants to keep her information enclosed ( Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.256).When counseling an individual client, the client is the only person that the counselor have to obligate to when ensuring confidentiality. The notion that Williams s plays were heavily autobiographical is now a generally accepted interpretation used to connect the disparate nature of his texts. As many contemporary scholars do, Lahr reads Menagerie as biographical portraits of his mother and sister when they lived in St. Louis, Streetcar drawing from his experience in New Orleans and his tempestuous relationship with Pancho Rodriguez, Cat referencing Williams s uneasy relationship with his father, and Suddenly Last Summer documenting both his experiences with therapy and his sister s lobotomy: Throughout his life, Williams, who was the most ... HR Issues Handled By Japanese Organizations Based On Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions There are several different challenges for Human Resource Management teams in organizations throughout the world. The HR strategies of these various organizations are very dependent on the culture of the country in which the organization resides. Hofstede s theory of cultural dimensions is a great way to distinguish between the traditional HR aspects of organizations in different parts of the world. Although both the United States and Japan have very successful companies, there are differences in the way these organizations handle HR issues. Both societies have a wide range of distribution of power between the lower and higher ranking officials within an organization. The two countries are so close in the power distance ranking that I do not believe that the HR policies in each would be significantly different. Japan scores much higher that the United States in the Uncertainty Avoidance category. Japanese businesses are in favor of predicting and controlling future events in order to avoid the uncertain (Ivancevich, 2010). This is quite different from the U.S. which scores relatively low in the category. U.S. organizations tend to take more risks and plan activities on a day to day basis. When planning to hire employees in the U.S., HR would most likely look for candidates who are more aggressive and self motivated. However, Japanese organizations might look for more of an organized and conservative person to fill the role. Predictability is key since the Japanese prefer to plan and organize situations so that there are no surprises. Masculinity is also very high in Japan. Masculine societies tend to have men who hold assertive and competitive qualities (Hofstede, 2011). This includes strict roles between males and females. Males in Japan are expected to work and support the family, while women are responsible for taking care of the household (Bestore and Hardacre, 2004, para.56). As health care providers it is important to be able to distinguish between the two and to know how to treat the patient. It is also imperative that an acute adrenal crisis can be recognized. This paper will discuss how to recognize and treat adrenal insufficiency. Primary adrenal insufficiency Primary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands fail to release glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, despite the release of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) from the pituitary, and may be fatal if untreated (Griffing, 2015). The following tests are appropriate to order to diagnose adrenal insufficiency: Serum chemistry, abnormalities are present in as many as 56% of patients. Hyponatremia is common although not diagnostic; hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycemia also may be present. Cdawg Officer and Noncommissioned Officer Relationship MSG Terwan Crawley United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 63 SGM Johnny Williams March 29, 2013 Abstract The disparity between officers and non commissioned officers (NCO) in the military still prevails on the social and professional levels. The major issue of the relationship between these groups of men is considered an issue of class structure which is attributed to the differences in the educational levels between them. Another method is to build retaining walls because The retaining wall will act as a shield for the soil and prevent soil erosion from occurring. Yet another method that I have seen used regularly is tarpping and sand bagging. This is where you take large plastic sheets, or tarps and lay them down on the area in which you wish to prevent erosion. Then the sand bags are placed along the edges to keep the tarp from blowing away. These methods do not completely stop erosion all together, but they do lessen the time it would originally take without any protection. Part 5

The question is are we still reading as attentively and thoroughly as we used to due to these new portable ways of reading. The main issue here is that our attention is divided between pixels and link as our brains respond differently to onscreen text than to words on paper. There have been many published studies since 1980 s where researchers from different fields like psychology, computer engineering and information science have brought up such issues in more than one hundred published studies. Many of these studies done before 1992, always concluded that people read slowly, less accurately and less comprehensively on screens than on paper. In recent studies, it shows that people still like to read from paper especially when they want to read intensively. Although the e reading technology is gaining more popularity and becoming more common, people s attitudes are changing. They read these books for facts and fun. The United States, in 2012, used roughly 40% or 915 million acres of all US land as farmland (USDA 2014, 1), yet as a nation we cannot feed all of our people. The American government subsidizes commodity crops, such as corn, wheat, and soy more than any other type of crop in the United States, (This does not include the subsidies directly paid to the meat and dairy industry, which is a whole other paper!). Government subsidies are less common for the production of fresh fruits and vegetables. Government subsidies encourage farmers to grow commodity crops instead of growing fruits and vegetables for consumers at competitive prices creating food insecurity. The cheap production of commodity crops force families in the lower middle class and poverty to choose a diet of processed food, which are less nutritious than fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains causing many of the health problems that we see in the population today.
