Organic Foods Products And Non Organic Products
Organic products and non organic products have been a subject of interest for me for a reasonable
amount of time because I have often questioned whether there really was a difference between the two
types of products chemically. To begin, labeling something as organic you have to very precise and it
is determined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The regulations set are
extremely specific and it is relatively difficult to meet the standards. The pesticides must be natural,
and be part of the approved list established by the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990. The crop
must be prohibited of any substance for three years. These three years are set to allow room for
chemicals, which may have an effect on the crop, may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consumption of organic food has grown rapidly over the past two decades. Global sales for
organic food increased from $23 billion in 2002 to 63 billion in 2011, accounting for 1 2% of total
food production worldwide. On the demand side, consumers are willing to pay a premium price for
organic food, which typically costs 10% to several times more than non organic food. The main
distinction between organically grown foods and conventionally grown foods is how they are grown.
On an organic farm foods are grown using natural bi products, like manure, and compost. They use
spray pesticides from natural sources and traps and mating distractions to keep pests and diseases
away. Animals are fed organic feed, and have access to go outdoors. To keep the animals from
sickness, preventive measures are used. Meanwhile, on a non organic farm, their agrochemicals are all
synthetic, and the animals are grown with antibiotics, and growth hormones to produce rapid growth.
Also, medications are used to prevent diseases in the animals. Because, non organic foods use
synthetic chemicals, it can be produced easier, and cheaper. However, does the use of synthetic
chemicals make it a health hazard? If so, then does this make the more expensive organic apple better
than the cheaper conventional apple? In order to make a fully informed decision on which type of food
to buy, we must account for both sides. Non organic food buyers claim that, despite the are residual

Examples Of Shareholder Value Analysis
The Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) was created in 1986 by Dr. Alfred Rappaport and LEK/Alcar
Consulting Group. Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) in his book
Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model. It has gained
publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is not as widely used
as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is
probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA)
The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows in
order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the firm.
Measurement of the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to calculate the shareholder value the values of marketable security along with other
investment have to be added together but the value of debt has to be subtracted from the valuation of
the business. Free cash flow gives an idea about the cash flows from the operation of a business for a
particular period under consideration. However, this free cash flow will not take into account,
financing related cash flows which include cash flows from issues of shares or issue of debt, dividend
and interest payment etc (www.cimaglobal.com, 2004).
Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) can be defined as the difference between wealth created for the
shareholder for a particular period when compared to wealth created for the shareholder at the end of
the previous period. Therefore, the difference in the wealth created in the shareholders between two
periods gives an idea about the true economic wealth that is created for the shareholder as well for the

Module 1 Homework PART I Outline the four major clusters of depressive symptoms and explain
each one in detail: Emotional; Cognitive; Motivational; Somatic. There are four noteworthy groups of
depressive indications; emotional, cognitive, motivational and somatic.. Each of these bunches of
depressive manifestations sway both conditionally and autonomously upon the discouraged person.
Actually, as one arrangement of bunches starts to influence the individual another effects and fortifies

The term cognitive alludes to the mental methodology described by knowing, considering, learning

Culture, Culture And Culture Essay
Culture
Many times we hear concepts like Oriental culture , Italian culture or Gothic Culture . So we can
understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea of the society where we live in.
Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various
definitions.
One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31):
Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles, knowledge and
skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way of life of any society
So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the entire set of
believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian people. Something connected
to their country but that is with them wherever they go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian
group of people they will speak Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they
will be probably Catholic etc.
While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like language and
diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding of them.
Values, Norms, Roles
What are values ?
The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that is talking about
her or his values we understand that that person is talking about something that marks out what

Index of Economic Freedom Essay
The steady stream of current world events provides us with the signs to be read if we only take the
time and the intention to pay attention to those lessons. The economic view provides a robust language
for understanding the basic physical reality of scarcity, and the varied human beliefs and responses we
take as we attempt to deal with that scarcity. As Smith and Ricardo teach us, the subtle and important
understanding lies in the space between what human desires dictate in the personal scale, in the short
run; and what consequences play out on the grand scale, in the long run. In this paper we look at the
proxy effects of policies intended by governments to forge policies in the short run, as compared to the
inevitable effects that flow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sociological Explanations Of Deviance Essay
Macionis and Plummer (2008), state that deviance involves the recognised violation of cultural norms
. Societies are layered by norms which guide virtually all human activities and deviance is the
violation of these norms . Haralambos and Holborn (2008) give a similar definition and state that
deviance consists of those acts which do not follow the norms and expectations of a particular social
group. The violation of norms is, in fact, universal to all definitions of deviance. Norms provide
guidance as to what type of behaviour is considered proper in particular situations (Haralambos and
Holborn, 2008). There are many types of norms for every situation; there are religious norms, health
norms and certainly school norms. Rules are some of the most important norms for which formal
sanctions are taken when these are broken. Sociological explanations of deviance try to explain the
causes of deviance by looking at the society and how it may lead individual to adopt particular form of
behaviour. The theories outlined here relate deviance either to social class, subcultures within school
or to the effect resulting from meaning that students give to school experience, a theory usually
favoured by interpretivist sociologists. 2.1.1 Social class, subcultures and deviancy ... Show more

My Importance Of Academic Interests In High School
My academic interests throughout the years have really changed and evolved as I have matured as a
student. Since I started school, I ve always had an appreciation for academics and the various subjects
that I learned. I would attribute this to the fact that I was able to work with and learn from students,
teachers or friends that were passionate about a particular subject, helping me understand a subject s
value even if it did not particularly interest me. By having this exposure during my formative years
where I learned to think independently, I came to cherish my own education in addition to realizing
the importance and value education can hold for others. As I grew older and began to think for myself,
I developed an affinity towards math and science. I would attribute this to the fact that my mind is
more analytical than creative, leading me to find interest in areas of study that progress logically and
introduce concepts that can be built on top of each other. Once I got to high school, the science classes
that I took started to utilize concepts from mathematics and vice versa. I was particularly interested
when concepts and ideas stemming from a variety of fields were put together in order to accomplish
something practical. I began to seek out articles and videos online to further develop my knowledge of
technology and scientific phenomena. At the end of my junior year, I was motivated to seek out and
apply for various research opportunities that involved working

A Plan-Based Theory Of Strategic Communication Analysis
As a building principal, I am in a perpetual state of building relationships. Each day I cope with the
uncertain outcome of daily conversations with a variety of stakeholders. Reading the chapter on
uncertainty reduction theory (URT), I recognized many approaches I use when meeting a new person.
Charles Berger s URT addresses cognitive rather than behavioral uncertainty reduction. Behavioral
reduction regards questions related to how to act when first meeting someone. Cognitive reduction has
to do with ways to gather information when you first meet someone. Berger developed 8 axioms, key
variables to grow relationships. Additionally, he generated twenty eight theorems based on the
outcomes of combined axioms. Both the axioms and the 28 extensions provide the background for
Berger s work A Plan Based Theory of Strategic Communication . This plan seeks to help guide one
through the process of using communication to reduce uncertainty. ... Show more content on

They are goal driven. Because of this, Berger suggests strategies, message plans, that can be used to
help us deal with the uncertainty. Plan complexity, seeking information (passive, active, or through
interactions), and hedging are all strategies. These are all strategies I have used, most often, due to the
spontaneity of many of my conversations, I use the interactive strategy. Often, I will use humor in an
attempt to hedge. I have found a smile to be extremely helpful in reducing uncertainty when engaging
in that first conversation. None of Berger s theory surprised me. Reading the Afifi s critique of Berger,
the idea that we are more motivated reduce anxiety rather than uncertainty during first time
encounters. I may be missing something, but I think anxiety and uncertain y go hand in

Examples Of Feminism In The Story Thank You Ma Am
In the story, Thank you Ma am, the woman is strict, and mean at the beginning of the story, and as the
plot develops toward the end, the woman lets her soft side shine. At the beginning, the woman is
walking, and Roger, tries to steal her purse. At that, the woman lashes out with her mean and strict
side as shown by kicking and shaking the kid. Afterwards, she invites him to dinner and gives him $10
to buy a pair of blue suede shoes. Thus her soft side.
At the beginning of the story the woman is strict, and mean. The author illustrates these traits really
nicely. The author illustrates the woman s strictness due to the words she uses. I would teach you right

When I get through with you, sir, you are going to remember Mrs, Luella Bates Washington Jones.
From this quote, it forms an impression that the woman is strict and is ready to teach some lessons.
The woman is also mean at the beginning of the story due to her actions. Her ruthless and harsh
actions really show us that she is mean. Sweat popped out on the boy s face and he began to struggle.
Mrs. Jones stopped, jerked him around in front of her, put a half nelson about his neck, and continued
to drag him up the street. no nice woman would ever put a half nelson around any kid s neck. That is
just plain brutal and merciless. Therefor she is mean. At the end of the story, the woman s soft side
comes out when she invites him to dinner and gives them $10 to buy what they want. Then we ll eat
said the woman I believe you re hungry or been hungry to try to snatch my pocketbook. When they
were finished eating she got up and said, now, here, take this ten dollars and buy yourself some blue

steal from her, she stills gives the boy something to eat and $10 to buy something that they really
wants. Therefor, her soft side. The woman is mean and strict at the beginning of the story. Then, as the

Examples Of Political Allegory In Animal Farm

Analysis Of Antonio Vivaldi s The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi, a Baroque composer conceived in Venice in 1678, is extremely outstanding for his
sonatas, musical dramas, and vocal music, yet especially for his 500 or more concertos. Among these
works is potentially Vivaldi s most prestigious concerto, The Four Seasons . This piece is to a great
degree expressive, particularly as it is joined by an individual poem for each season, which gives the
entertainers a manual for deciphering the nuances that are ever present in Vivaldi s works.[1] Vivaldi
is additionally the most illustrative European author of a kind that he advanced in the 1710s, the

including Bach.[2] Vivaldi is likewise said to have either imagined or if nothing else to have promoted
ritornello in his concertos, notwithstanding numerous different ideas, for example, little motivic units
that he utilized as topics, and his utilization of mood to fabricate strain as his creations escalated.[3]
Vivaldi was a critical arranger in his chance and even right up til today as a result of his various
synthesis, the new melodic structures he presented, and the numerous melodic ideas that he promoted
through his pieces. This paper will initially talk about the foundation paving the way to Vivaldi s

Therefore, patients QOL will likely improve if moderate vision loss is reversed, which will contribute
towards greater patient independence and QOL. Health state utilities were not collected during the
FAME studies. Therefore, the model used utilities that were reported in the published, peer reviewed
literature. In a study by Brown et al., VA related utilities were derived from a sample of 72 patients
from the United States with age related macular degeneration (AMD) patients using the time trade off
(TTO) technique.29 Most patients (77.8%) had edema (primarily wet AMD), which is clinically like
DME (as a result, this was the utility source selected for the base case analysis in the model). In
contrast, another report by Brown et al., derived utilities based on a mix of patients with various eye
diseases, with only a small proportion having macular edema.30 Other sources of utility data
identified in the literature include Czoski Murray et al.31 and Heintz et al.32. This utility estimates
from studies were used in the sensitivity analysis and made available for easy application in the final

The Role Of Religion During The Middle Ages
There is irrefutable evidence that over the period of the Middle Ages, both Christianity and Islam have
been anchors in both shaping and influencing governance of kingdoms and empires comprising
Western Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and territories ruled by Islam. Religion during this period was
widely used to set laws, influence culture, justify armed conflicts, and pronounce punishment on
citizens domiciled within the geographies depicted within this essay. I will attempt to illuminate the
geopolitical climate, territorial demarcation, and religious influences that depicted life circa 500 1517
CE. From the background material submitted, I will directly answer the following questions:
1) The role Religion played in establishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The era from about 500 to 1000 C.E. is sometimes referred to as the Dark Ages in European history,
partly because many aspects of the Roman civilization were lost, such as written language, advanced
architectural and building techniques, complex government, and access to long distance trade. For the
most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as their nomadic
ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming, but their greatest
need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most important when the
Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th centuries, followed by the
Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response, Europeans established
feudalism as a way to unite and protect them.
European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal political
order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having overlords,
and overlords owing allegiance to kings. On these foundations early kingdoms, such as England and
France, were built, but in other areas, such as modern day Germany, the feudal organization remained
highly decentralized.

Jack Mccallum s Basketball Team
The book Dream Team by Jack McCallum is about the 1992 mens Olympic basketball team, that was
sent to sent to Barcelona, Spain. This was the first time NBA players were allowed to compete in the
Olympics. This would soon prove to be a major disadvantage to all other countries, as the United
States demolished every team that was set before them. McCallum describes this monstrous team and
says, the closest any opponent came was a fine Croatia team, which lost by 32 points in the gold
medal final. A description of the games is of course provided in the book, but McCallum did not
simply want to do an account of the games and how dominant the team is. He took a look at each of
the members and how they earned their spot on the team. Also, he covers ... Show more content on

The first of these, is the scrimmage that took place on July 22, 1992. The official games had not yet
started, but exhibition games had taken place. Before this, the team had of course conducted
scrimmages. Usefully Daily (the head coach) would divvy up teams by conference (McCallum 212),
but today was different. With John Stockton and Clyde Drexler side lined with injuries, this
scrimmage would be unique. The blue team consisted of Mullin, Johnson, Laettner, Barkley and
Robinson while the White team consisted of Pippen, Jordan, Bird, Malone and Ewing. The unspoken
leaders were Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Both were dominant players that had large egos. In
1989 the NBA even considered televising a One on One game between these two. It never came to
fruition, but in the back of their minds, this game was a way to prove who truly was the better player.
The game began with a blue team lead, in fact they racked up 7 points before white even got on the
board. As the game got deeper and deeper, so did the opponents mouths. Magic was known for
complaining about fouls and with a scrimmage like this, the ref was not safe of Johnson s complaints.
McCallum says, he would win foul battles every time while pointedly play through his own fouls and
act like a petulant child when one was called on him. Along with the complaints came trash talk and it
was prevalent. It begins very mild with Johnson yelling, right back at you after matching a 3 pointer
Jordan had just made. Later when the score is blue 19 and white 20, Barkley forces a 1 and 1. Johnson
says to Jordan, We ain t in Chicago Stadium anymore referring to the notion that Jordan got special
treatment from the refs. After continued effort, sweat and mouthing off, Jordan led white to a 40 36
victory. Jordan describes it as, the most fun I have ever had on a basketball court.

The Cult Of Personality
The song starts with an introduction from a male voice, speaking as though he were not from earth.
The sound of the electric guitar explodes into your ears, introducing the piece as a rock song. This was
quickly followed by the sound of heavy, but simple beat that would continue throughout the song. The
singer grabs your attention with a demand that the listener look into his eyes. The verses that follow
are simple and sung clearly, I can easily imagine a large crowd singing along to it as though it were
their anthem. The entire song has a rhythmic energy running through it, making it the kind of song a
person would want to dance to. The guitar solo is a break from the steady beat that permeates the
song, with its high pitched electronic sound. As the song continues, the beat becomes faster, the guitar
more frenzied and the singer repeating the statement, I am the cult of personality , till a different male
voice closes the song. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is made clear in the title of the song, Cult of personality, which refers to a person who uses the
media available to them to create an idealized image of themselves as the hero of a population. The
singer mentions the names of four great leaders; namely Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, John F. Kennedy
and Mahatma Ghandi. The juxtaposition of Mussolini and Joseph Stalin s names with John F.
Kennedy and Mahatma Ghandi s names shows that The Cult of Personality can be used by all types of
people. It is a phenomena that can be used to gain support for good or bad intentions. The singer
asserts that any leader who goes against the agenda of their time and place is a dead leader, when he
sings, when a leader speaks that leader dies . This could be a reference to Malcom X, who was killed
because he led African Americans to oppose the discriminatory laws in the USA at the

it one of most popular forms of exercise. Yoga revives and rejuvenates your health, but so do other

some people got seriously injured and a few even died owing to the injuries caused due to the wrong

receiving along with yoga that is boosting their health. Yoga is a combination of asanas (poses and
postures), pranayama (regulated breathing), meditation and relaxation. Many yoga classes combine
other elements as well that include chanting, heating, music etc. There are variations in style and
teaching quality as well. There are various types of yoga and the poses and style vary in each type. For
instance, Iyengar and Hatha yoga are mostly made up of stretches and restorative poses, while vinyasa
and ashtanga tend to be more rigorous and athletic. Again, you do not sweat while practicing Yin
yoga. You can hold the pose for longer periods without sweating. Bikram yoga, on the other hand has

The Nature Of Science Vs. Religion
No One Man Can Have All That Power
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7). In Genesis God created humans from his
own likeness from the dust of the ground in H.G Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau, the main character
Dr. Moreau is given the perception of God as he also creates humans. He does the however through
science as he uses vivisection, the live dissection of animals, to convert animals into people we call
beast people. Through this creation process he brainwashes these beast people to have them believe he
is as said in Revelation, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the
End (Revelation 22:13). Wells, a known atheist, pushes the limits of science vs religion; Wells argues
that man s hubris in thinking that science can replace religion will lead to their downfall. Dr. Moreau
creates these beast, makes them follow his set of rules and ultimately is there judge, jury and
executioner if they break it.
Each religion has a distinct set of practices that make the religion unique, for the most part they all
believe in a higher even though in this book it was never formally established as a religion, they also
have a set of rules made by the higher power. The way H.G Wells sets up the island resembles most
Christianity, as they both have monotheistic views and have set of rules and practices that are keys in

The Harlem Renaissance was a significant social and cultural movement throughout the 1920 s and 30
s. It was a time when much of the history of the African American people were given a voice through
the creative efforts of those who were directly involved and affected by the Great Migration. It had a
great impact on what life was like for these people and their families and also impacted the society as
a whole. This Great Migration began at the end of the start of World War I from 1917, however many
African Americans had begun migrating even before then. After the Civil War, at the end of the 19th
century when the African Americans were no longer bound to their former masters as slaves, they
began to migrate. This was called Reconstruction and began in 1865. Suddenly everything that they
once knew and how they lived changed. They were free now but not truly considered equal by the
whites of the south. They were now forced to migrate from place to place in order to find work and
attempt to build a life for themselves and their families, and after World War I, they were able to
migrate to the north to more urban settings to find work.# This movement was called the Great
Migration and it led to and affected the Harlem Renaissance by inspiring great works of art from
artists such as Langston Hughes and many others

Why Are Composites Better Than The Use Of Traditional...
Introduction
Since the 1970 s, composite materials have been used in aviation in the form of composite aircraft,
and the use of composites has only been expanding. Boeing aircraft from the past, like the 747 circa
1968, were generally made up of only 1% of composite material, whereas relatively newer aircraft,
like the 777, which began its service life in 1995, jumped to 11% composites. By 2011, and the
introduction of the 787 Dreamliner, the percentage of composites had risen to an astounding

(Mrazova, 2013) In the aviation industry today, composites have replaced previously used materials
such as titanium and aluminum in the manufacturing of wings, skins, primary load bearing structures,
and fuselages.
However, composites are not wonder materials, in the aviation world, and do have their own
disadvantages. Internal damage to composite materials, from a low speed impact, though it shows no
external or surface evidence, could result in delamination between the internal layers, or plies of
composite material. It is in these circumstances that structural engineers have concerns regarding
complex repairs structural tolerances. Because of the threat of delamination, engineers who design
composite structures take special care to make certain that loads placed on the composites are
primarily in plane where the fibers are strong and that buckling does not occur. Compounding the
difficulties confronting engineers, composites cannot be inspected for weakness or internal damage in
the same way that metals can. Delamination and cracks in the composite matrix are usually internal to
the composite and will not be visible from the surface. Techniques are available to find such faults
such as the embedded sensors previously mentioned but they require a different methodology than that

The Jewish Ghettos Of The Holocaust
Have you ever been in a room so crowded you thought you might implode? Or been so sick you
questioned if you were still alive? How about so hungry you felt as though you would shrivel up and
simply cease to exist? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may almost be able to
imagine what life was like in the Jewish ghettos. There were ghettos before the Holocaust, the first
being in Venice in the 16th century, there are ghettos today, and there will be ghettos in the future, but
the Jewish ghettos of the Holocaust are by far the most prominent.
According to Merriam Webster a ghetto is, a part of a city in which members of a particular group or
race live usually in poor conditions (ghetto). This paper will focus, however, on what daily life was
like in the ghettos, what Jews did or didn t do to prevent their fate, and how Holocaust survivors are
doing now. I chose this topic because when Elie and his family were living in the ghetto in the
beginning of Night, it seemed as though they had plenty of opportunities to escape that they didn t
take. It also seemed much closer to pleasant than I imagined, and I was curious to see if that was
completely true.
When I started this project I was hoping to find personal survivor stories about what the conditions of
the ghettos, how people transitioned into life in them, and what they did to try and keep life as normal
as it could be. I was expecting a bounty of examples of indifference because in Night the Jews

How Does Golding Present The Evil In Lord Of The Flies
Evil has been in existence ever since the beginning of time. Evil was present in the heart of mankind
starting with when Adam and Eve were first placed here on earth. The evil of the world began with the
snake enticing Eve to eat the forbidden fruit of God. Regardless of the person, evil is lurking
somewhere within their hearts. There is no human who wishes to be classified as a savage, but when
placed in the situation of being stranded on a deserted island, all sense of civilization is easily

to powerfully reveal the tragic state of society is the result of inherent defects in human nature.

Narrative Of The Life Of Fredrick Douglass
The idea of freedom and liberty varies from person to person, especially to slaves, as we have read in
Fredrick Douglass Narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglass and as we have seen in many different
excerpts in Eric Foner s Voices of Freedom. While all slaves believed that slavery needed to be
abolished before freedom could become available to them, there are two men I would like to talk
about and compare their voices to those of the white supremacy seen in Foner s Voices of Freedom.
Fredrick Douglass and Olauduah Equiano (whose excerpt is also found in Foner s Voices of Freedom)
are former slaves that stand out from the others, mostly because of their realization that there is more
to freedom than just the abolishment of freedom. But most importantly these two men believe in
education being the draw bridge to liberty and that family and knowledge of history are also very
important aspects. Overall, these two men do have much in common but it is also important to take a
peek at where their ideas start to vary. To Douglass, freedom and liberty were just simply small talk in
the back of his head for quite some time. His life in the plantation fields, helped shape his progress in
his struggle to emerge from the hard life of slavery. Douglass later on continues to explain in his
novel, The Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass; An American Slave , I do not remember to have

The Shaping Of Our Country
Celeste Munoz
U.S History I to 1876
Mr. William Stowe
28 November 2014 The shaping of our country has been impacted by several different factors, each
contributing to it in their own way. Four of the major pivot points that occurred consists of:
Jeffersonian democracy, Jacksonian democracy, Civil War/Reconstruction, Revolution/Constitution.
However one of them happened to be the most impacting which was the Civil War and
Reconstruction. The American Civil War occurred during 1861 to 1865, lasting only five years.
America s bloodiest clash resulting in the death of approximately 620,000 Americans and millions
more were injured. In the spring of 1861, the north and south began to rise into conflict over issues
like states rights. Other conflicts include federal authority, westward expansion and slavery. When
Lincoln was elected president in 1860, seven states seceded from the union and they formed the
confederate states. After the first shots were fired four more states joined the confederate states.
Abraham s election was the rising point to long debate over the federal and state governments. The
war can be viewed in many ways. One as the final violent stages in a conflict of two regions. Another
as the breakdown of the political system of the Democratic Party and as the max point of several years
of social reform. Or also viewed as the main chapter in America s racial history. The survival of the
U.S as one nation was at risk, and the outcome of the war

Multimedia Big Data Management Processing And Analysis
VII. MULTIMEDIA BIG DATA MANAGEMENT PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS After
categorizing multimedia big data, the next important phase in the data management cycle is its
processing and analysis. So far, the possible types, sources and perspectives of multimedia big data
have been highlighted; but this is only the first of the necessary stages in big data management.
Generally, the stages involved in big data processing and analysis include data acquisition, data
extraction, data representation, modeling, analysis and interpretation [21]. These stages are illustrated
in Figure 5 and are explained briefly also. Fig. 5. Steps in Big Data Processing (Source: [22]) A.
Acquisition and Recording This is the first step in the data processing cycle. It is mostly concerned
with the sources of big data and techniques required to capture the data. As it has been discussed in
prior parts of this paper, big data can originate from multiple sources and therefore requires an
intelligent process to acquire and store this raw data. Another relevant aspect of this phase is metadata
generation and acquisition. This acquisition of the right metadata enables for a description of the
recorded data and how exactly it is being measured. B. Information Extraction and Cleaning In some
cases, the information gotten from various sources may not be ready for analysis. Such data usually
contains images, audio, or in some cases they are gotten from environmental sensors such as
surveillance cameras.

US Stocks took their deepest plunge in more than a year as fears grew that Europe s debt crisis could

The number of people applying for unemployment benefits last week rose unexpectedly and the Greek

The Electric Car
In 10 years, it is believed that the electric car will slowly start to push the gasoline/petrol vehicle to the
curb, and it will do it with style and swagger. In this ever growing age of technology and
advancement, more and more people are either looking very seriously into or have already transitioned
from ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles. The transition is seemingly a slow one for the
majority of the public and although it is understandable, it is also inevitable. Combustion engine
vehicles have been around for over a century and have dominated the car industry greatly. The
reliance on ICE engines can be visible in any direction someone turns, walking through the streets of
any city. The mindset that ICE rules, and is the only efficient and viable method of transportation is
slowly being replaced by the ever decreasing well of fossil fuels and oil on earth. Oil has been the
spine of the Earth and the gasoline car, it s pumping heart.
There are many reasons that more and more people are turning to electric. Some of the advantages are:
Higher efficiency by as much as 400 to 600 percent over an internal combustion engine
No polluting byproducts because this car gets its power from batteries, the wind or the sun
Three times as efficient as gas engines
Is extremely safe
Gets better mileage than any other car on the road
Quiet to drive
Convenient
Durable
Although everyone has his or her personal motivations to owning and driving electric, some

Essay about Evaluation on a Restaurant

My Evaluation of the Cheesecake Factory
My most favorite of all time restaurants to dine at is The Cheesecake Factory. This restaurant is a
famous corporate chain of restaurants that offers a widespread variety of all types of American dishes
and of course specializes in the most amazing variety of the best tasting cheesecakes. I love the
experience of dining at the Cheesecake factory because the atmosphere is so welcoming and the
artwork on the ceilings make you feel very lavish, the food is great and the service is excellent. A
particular visit last month proved to me that Cheesecake factory lives up to the expectations of its
guests. The cheesecake factory is known for always giving generous portions of food for a ver ...

It came with croutons, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled chicken tossed in ceasar dressing in an enormous
plate. I was so satisfied with my appetizer and the delicious complimentary bread that I had to order a
salad and even that was too much for me to finish. Even though I was too full, I had to order one of
their infamous cheesecakes after all. I ordered the Oreo Extreme which was a special edition
cheesecake and it was big and delicious enough to feed my whole family.
Lastly the service at The Cheesecake Factory caught my attention. As soon as we walked through the
door we heard, How are you? Welcome to the Cheesecake Factory . We were taken to our table by our
hostess and then we were asked a drink order. Our drinks were received and the order was taken in a
timely manner. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was very polite while taking our
order. We were told our order would be put right in, and the drinks with the complimentary bread
came in no time. Then the food arrived and we began to eat. As we ate our meal the server came over
twice to check on us and get us refills. We asked for our check and it was received and paid very
quickly. While dining at The Cheesecake Factory, the service was fantastic. The server was very
attentive and took very good care of us. I enjoyed my experience impressively and will continue to
come back here any chance I get. The Cheesecake Factory restaurant makes the best out of everyone s
visit.

Irish Fiddle Essay
I very much enjoyed Irish Folk Celtic Fiddle. The song is upbeat and exciting. When it first began, I
immediately thought of Irish step dancing and the tapping of shoes on the floor. It easily makes one
want to get up and dance. The reason it is perfect for dancing is because of the enthusiastic rhythm and
speed. It is played at a very fast tempo. When a tempo is quick, there is more energy and it is thrilling
compared to a slow song that is relaxing and meaningful. The majority of the notes are very quick
while a few are a bit longer. One part that interested me the most was at 0:43 in the video and it caught
my attention because the sound was unique. Just from hearing it, I can imagine how difficult it must
be to move a bow that quickly

Characterization In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
Clever Title Here In the book, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, we learn about the life of many
characters and their experiences, troubles, and different lifestyles. Every character has their own story
to tell and unique traits. Which is why I chose the topic of characterization. All the characters show
their real colors and change throughout the story. We learnt the real background on their lives and not
just the stereotype of the two groups. PonyBoy Curtis, is part of the Greasers but he s not your typical
greaser, he s not like the rest. Ponyboy has light brown hair, with greenish gray eyes and long hair that
is greased and comb back. His personality in The Outsiders is soft and he d never hurt anything, but

Margery Kemp s Interactions with The Virgin Mary Essay
Margery Kemp s Interactions with The Virgin Mary
According to her own testimony, Margery Kempe s spirituality involved deeply passionate
experiences of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Kempe had the gift of tears meaning that, for years, she
was unable to attend mass without crying profusely, and, as often as not, sobbing loudly and
theatrically. Her adventurous life included a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where much weeping and
wailing took place, and tanglings with several Bishops, including the Archbishop of Canterbury. In
chapter 3 Margery has a rather jumbled account of a vision of heaven. Then Margery starts to begin to
have the desire to stop having sex. Which I assure you doesn t go well with her husband. Finally in

This was really weird, why did she think this ring was her wedding ring? Then Margery meets with a
priest who becomes her protector all the time she is in Rome. God provides a miracle in which they
can understand each other s speech, though she speaks no German and he speaks no English. Margery,
who has been wearing white (virgin s clothing, suggesting a religious vow) is asked by this priest to
leave off wearing it, and she obeys. He also sends her to be servant to a poor woman, as a form of
penance, though I m not sure what for. Although she starts to wear white again in chapter 37 because
God tells her to. Then later on Margery has a literal marriage to God, followed by visions of angels,
divine smells and music, and a warmth in her breast which lasts, she tells us, 16 years. One result is
that she weeps when she sees a handsome man on the street, because it makes her think of Christ.
Later on she elaborates on the marriage with a strong suggestion of a sexual consummation. Here and
in the next chapter 37, there are more conversations with God and he promises to be closer to her. She
is also told to resume wearing white, which her confessor allows because he sees it s God s will and
doesn t dare object. Then God has her give away all her money, so that she must live on charity. She
doesn t like this at all, but God reassures her with people who give her charity and help. Then a Priest
came from England who helps her get back home. Margery en

Navy Seal Essay
The Navy Seals began as early as World War II. Volunteers from the Naval Construction Battalions
(SeaBees) were organized into special teams called Navy Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs). The
units were assigned the task of exploring and clearing beach obstacles for troops going to land ashore.
Combat Swimmer Exploration teams were established during this time. The Navy SEALs are trained
to operate in all environments such sea, air and land. This is where the name SEALs originated. The
United States Navy acknowledged the need for landing on beaches and coastal areas. The Scouts and
Raiders were established in 1942 prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor from the Observer Group, a joint
U.S. Army Marine Navy unit. The Army and Navy assembled in 1942 to begin the Amphibious Scouts
and Raiders training. The Amphibious Scout and Raider School was established in 1942 at Fort Pierce,

Navy SEALs were established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 as a small, elite maritime
military force to conduct Unconventional Warfare. The Navy SEAL Teams were designed as the
maritime counterpart to the Army Special Forces Green Berets. During the 1960s, each branch of the
military formed its own forces. The Navy utilized UDT personnel to form separate units called SEAL
teams. January 1962 marked the commissioning of SEAL Team ONE in the Pacific Fleet and SEAL
Team TWO in the Atlantic Fleet. These teams were developed to conduct unconventional warfare,
counter guerilla warfare and secret operations in both blue and brown water environments.
Today s SEALs represents the customs, missions, capabilities, and combat lessons learned of five
groups that no longer exist but were vital in World War II and the conflict in Korea. These were

1988 Education Reform
The 1988 education reform act
This essay will explore the 1988 Education reform act by looking at past, during and after
ramifications that the act brought . These will include the view that the 1988 Education Reform Act is
influential in terms of controlling and progressing schools further could be seen as decisive, one
reason being it could be a means of achieving control of the curriculum and the assessment, enabling
them to progress and monitor their spending control, as well as the rise in the standards of school in
terms of the competition and choice (Parliament, 1989). There are also views that education has since,
in similar ways, become more like a business, this comparison was made by sociologist Stephen Ball

This is due to children from different social background have different access to resources and have
different experiences of education. This means that lower class children are still more likely to have a
lesser education than those pupils who are more privileged (). Rather than improving life chances for
all the pupils through education the system, it still leaves a barrier which is not equal. This lack of
equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents have about schooling
and the educational market would be different. Parents that have more of a cultural, social and
economical capital have more choice on where to send their child. Money can help if the best school is
far away of if the child needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a
good understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to influence their
child to choose a certain path. This therefore puts the middle class and above in an improved position
than the classic working class as they would have the knowledge as well as the finances to put their
child in a higher achieving school with a higher reputation or place them in private schools, like;
Harrow or Eton, which would be the gateway to success as they would more and greater connections

Random Act Of Kindness Definition
I believe that kindness is a standout amongst the most vital human qualities. I think it is really nice to
do a random act of kindness sometimes, and it can truly change the standpoint of another person s day.
Once I got this assignment about the random act of kindness I was really glad to take part in a great
deal of kind heartedness. It s always good to make yourself a blessing to someone else. For my
random act of kindness, I distributed ice cold bottles of water to men at the race track who were
working on cars in 90 degree weather. I decided this would be the best one for me to do since I knew it
would be hot and the men needed to stay hydrated. My random act of kindness took place on Sunday

Analysis Of Ketchum s The Fall And Winter Of 1776
Ketchum begins in the fall and winter of 1776 in describing the events of the campaign. At the time,
the future of the Revolution was in serious doubt men were freezing, starving, and the Continental
Army was dissolving around General Washington. More than anything else, he needed a victory.
Ketchum displays to the reader how exactly the colonials got into such a distressing situation in the
first place. Traveling back to 1774 and 1775 Ketchum explores the reason behind why and how the
entire situation occurred in the first place. The motivations of both the English crown and the colonials
are explored throughout the book. For example, the motivations of King George III are explored in the
section Everyone Who Does Not Agree With Me Is A Traitor . Ketchum describes the early life of
George III which would motivate his latest moves against the colonies. George III felt he had to
almost be more English than the English themselves , to paraphrase the honor of England and the
crown were his preeminent concerns. Ketchum also described the wide variety of ailments, mostly
hereditary ones, which plagued the king. Put these together and it s no surprise he was less than
willing to listen to the pleas of his colonial subjects. Ketchum also went into a good deal of detail as to
the workings and motivations of the British government at the time. Finally, he lists the events leading
up to the actual winter of 1776, the conditions on the ground and then goes over the actual

  • 2. Organic Foods Products And Non Organic Products Organic products and non organic products have been a subject of interest for me for a reasonable amount of time because I have often questioned whether there really was a difference between the two types of products chemically. To begin, labeling something as organic you have to very precise and it is determined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The regulations set are extremely specific and it is relatively difficult to meet the standards. The pesticides must be natural, and be part of the approved list established by the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990. The crop must be prohibited of any substance for three years. These three years are set to allow room for chemicals, which may have an effect on the crop, may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The consumption of organic food has grown rapidly over the past two decades. Global sales for organic food increased from $23 billion in 2002 to 63 billion in 2011, accounting for 1 2% of total food production worldwide. On the demand side, consumers are willing to pay a premium price for organic food, which typically costs 10% to several times more than non organic food. The main distinction between organically grown foods and conventionally grown foods is how they are grown. On an organic farm foods are grown using natural bi products, like manure, and compost. They use spray pesticides from natural sources and traps and mating distractions to keep pests and diseases away. Animals are fed organic feed, and have access to go outdoors. To keep the animals from sickness, preventive measures are used. Meanwhile, on a non organic farm, their agrochemicals are all synthetic, and the animals are grown with antibiotics, and growth hormones to produce rapid growth. Also, medications are used to prevent diseases in the animals. Because, non organic foods use synthetic chemicals, it can be produced easier, and cheaper. However, does the use of synthetic chemicals make it a health hazard? If so, then does this make the more expensive organic apple better than the cheaper conventional apple? In order to make a fully informed decision on which type of food to buy, we must account for both sides. Non organic food buyers claim that, despite the are residual hormones found in ... Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) in his book Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model. It has gained publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is not as widely used as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA) (www.5paisa.com/scho/ch09.html,www.lek.com) The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows in order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the firm. • 5. Culture, Culture And Culture Essay Culture Many times we hear concepts like Oriental culture , Italian culture or Gothic Culture . So we can understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea of the society where we live in. Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various definitions. One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31): Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles, knowledge and skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way of life of any society So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the entire set of believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian people. Something connected to their country but that is with them wherever they go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian group of people they will speak Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they will be probably Catholic etc. While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like language and diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding of them. Values, Norms, Roles What are values ? The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that is talking about her or his values we understand that that person is talking about something that marks out what characterize her/his own concept of what is important, ... The economic view provides a robust language for understanding the basic physical reality of scarcity, and the varied human beliefs and responses we take as we attempt to deal with that scarcity. As Smith and Ricardo teach us, the subtle and important understanding lies in the space between what human desires dictate in the personal scale, in the short run; and what consequences play out on the grand scale, in the long run. • 8. Sociological Explanations Of Deviance Essay Macionis and Plummer (2008), state that deviance involves the recognised violation of cultural norms . Societies are layered by norms which guide virtually all human activities and deviance is the violation of these norms . Haralambos and Holborn (2008) give a similar definition and state that deviance consists of those acts which do not follow the norms and expectations of a particular social group. The violation of norms is, in fact, universal to all definitions of deviance. Norms provide guidance as to what type of behaviour is considered proper in particular situations (Haralambos and Holborn, 2008). There are many types of norms for every situation; there are religious norms, health norms and certainly school norms. Rules are some of the most important norms for which formal sanctions are taken when these are broken. Sociological explanations of deviance try to explain the causes of deviance by looking at the society and how it may lead individual to adopt particular form of behaviour. The theories outlined here relate deviance either to social class, subcultures within school or to the effect resulting from meaning that students give to school experience, a theory usually favoured by interpretivist sociologists. 2.1.1 Social class, subcultures and deviancy ... Since I started school, I ve always had an appreciation for academics and the various subjects that I learned. I would attribute this to the fact that I was able to work with and learn from students, teachers or friends that were passionate about a particular subject, helping me understand a subject s value even if it did not particularly interest me. By having this exposure during my formative years where I learned to think independently, I came to cherish my own education in addition to realizing the importance and value education can hold for others. As I grew older and began to think for myself, I developed an affinity towards math and science. I would attribute this to the fact that my mind is more analytical than creative, leading me to find interest in areas of study that progress logically and introduce concepts that can be built on top of each other. Once I got to high school, the science classes that I took started to utilize concepts from mathematics and vice versa. I was particularly interested when concepts and ideas stemming from a variety of fields were put together in order to accomplish something practical. Each day I cope with the uncertain outcome of daily conversations with a variety of stakeholders. Reading the chapter on uncertainty reduction theory (URT), I recognized many approaches I use when meeting a new person. Charles Berger s URT addresses cognitive rather than behavioral uncertainty reduction. Behavioral reduction regards questions related to how to act when first meeting someone. Cognitive reduction has to do with ways to gather information when you first meet someone. Berger developed 8 axioms, key variables to grow relationships. Additionally, he generated twenty eight theorems based on the outcomes of combined axioms. Both the axioms and the 28 extensions provide the background for Berger s work A Plan Based Theory of Strategic Communication . Torvald calls Nora by pet names his little squirrel, his little lark, and, worst of all, a featherhead, Nora shows no reaction to this behavior (1.5 1.16). Nora seems quite innocent and childlike in her behavior treating this as terms of endearment rather than insulting due his refusal to treat her as an equal. Her husband Torvald chides her for her reckless indulgences with their finances but little does he know she is carrying a secret. There is tension building between Nora and her husband as it comes to head. There is a clear acknowledgment here that both Nora and Helmer have been blinded by their self theatricalizing fantasies. For the current modelling analysis, the relative risk (RR) of death was estimated to be 2.45 for patients with DME and this was estimated based on the results from two studies. Mulnier et al. reported a RR of 1.93 (95%:CI: 1.89 to 1.97) for diabetic patients when compared to the general population.23 In the second study, Hirai et al., determined that the RR of death in diabetic patients with clinically significant macular edema was 1.27 (95%CI: 1.01 to 1.61).24 By combining the two estimates, the overall RR of mortality used in the model was 2.45 (i.e. 1.93 x 1.27). The era from about 500 to 1000 C.E. is sometimes referred to as the Dark Ages in European history, partly because many aspects of the Roman civilization were lost, such as written language, advanced architectural and building techniques, complex government, and access to long distance trade. For the most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as their nomadic ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming, but their greatest need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most important when the Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th centuries, followed by the Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response, Europeans established feudalism as a way to unite and protect them. European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal political order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having overlords, and overlords owing allegiance to kings. On these foundations early kingdoms, such as England and France, were built, but in other areas, such as modern day Germany, the feudal organization remained highly decentralized. The unspoken leaders were Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Both were dominant players that had large egos. In 1989 the NBA even considered televising a One on One game between these two. It never came to fruition, but in the back of their minds, this game was a way to prove who truly was the better player. The game began with a blue team lead, in fact they racked up 7 points before white even got on the board. As the game got deeper and deeper, so did the opponents mouths. Magic was known for complaining about fouls and with a scrimmage like this, the ref was not safe of Johnson s complaints. McCallum says, he would win foul battles every time while pointedly play through his own fouls and act like a petulant child when one was called on him. It was a time when much of the history of the African American people were given a voice through the creative efforts of those who were directly involved and affected by the Great Migration. It had a great impact on what life was like for these people and their families and also impacted the society as a whole. This Great Migration began at the end of the start of World War I from 1917, however many African Americans had begun migrating even before then. After the Civil War, at the end of the 19th century when the African Americans were no longer bound to their former masters as slaves, they began to migrate. This was called Reconstruction and began in 1865. Suddenly everything that they once knew and how they lived changed. They were free now but not truly considered equal by the whites of the south. They were now forced to migrate from place to place in order to find work and attempt to build a life for themselves and their families, and after World War I, they were able to migrate to the north to more urban settings to find work.# This movement was called the Great Migration and it led to and affected the Harlem Renaissance by inspiring great works of art from artists such as Langston Hughes and many others ... Internal damage to composite materials, from a low speed impact, though it shows no external or surface evidence, could result in delamination between the internal layers, or plies of composite material. It is in these circumstances that structural engineers have concerns regarding complex repairs structural tolerances. Because of the threat of delamination, engineers who design composite structures take special care to make certain that loads placed on the composites are primarily in plane where the fibers are strong and that buckling does not occur. Compounding the difficulties confronting engineers, composites cannot be inspected for weakness or internal damage in the same way that metals can. While all slaves believed that slavery needed to be abolished before freedom could become available to them, there are two men I would like to talk about and compare their voices to those of the white supremacy seen in Foner s Voices of Freedom. Fredrick Douglass and Olauduah Equiano (whose excerpt is also found in Foner s Voices of Freedom) are former slaves that stand out from the others, mostly because of their realization that there is more to freedom than just the abolishment of freedom. But most importantly these two men believe in education being the draw bridge to liberty and that family and knowledge of history are also very important aspects. Overall, these two men do have much in common but it is also important to take a peek at where their ideas start to vary. The Shaping Of Our Country Celeste Munoz U.S History I to 1876 Mr. William Stowe 28 November 2014 The shaping of our country has been impacted by several different factors, each contributing to it in their own way. Four of the major pivot points that occurred consists of: Jeffersonian democracy, Jacksonian democracy, Civil War/Reconstruction, Revolution/Constitution. However one of them happened to be the most impacting which was the Civil War and Reconstruction. The American Civil War occurred during 1861 to 1865, lasting only five years. America s bloodiest clash resulting in the death of approximately 620,000 Americans and millions more were injured. In the spring of 1861, the north and south began to rise into conflict over issues like states rights. Other conflicts include federal authority, westward expansion and slavery. When Lincoln was elected president in 1860, seven states seceded from the union and they formed the confederate states. After the first shots were fired four more states joined the confederate states. Abraham s election was the rising point to long debate over the federal and state governments. The war can be viewed in many ways. One as the final violent stages in a conflict of two regions. Another as the breakdown of the political system of the Democratic Party and as the max point of several years of social reform. Or also viewed as the main chapter in America s racial history. So far, the possible types, sources and perspectives of multimedia big data have been highlighted; but this is only the first of the necessary stages in big data management. Generally, the stages involved in big data processing and analysis include data acquisition, data extraction, data representation, modeling, analysis and interpretation [21]. These stages are illustrated in Figure 5 and are explained briefly also. Fig. 5. Steps in Big Data Processing (Source: [22]) A. Acquisition and Recording This is the first step in the data processing cycle. It is mostly concerned with the sources of big data and techniques required to capture the data. As it has been discussed in prior parts of this paper, big data can originate from multiple sources and therefore requires an intelligent process to acquire and store this raw data. Another relevant aspect of this phase is metadata generation and acquisition. This acquisition of the right metadata enables for a description of the recorded data and how exactly it is being measured. B. The possibility has been brewing for weeks, but analysts said some investors are just waking up to it. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 376 points, its biggest point drop since February 2009. All the major indexes were down well over 3 percent and are now showing losses for 2010. Interest rates fell sharply in the Treasury market as investors once again sought the safety of U.S. government debt. • 42. The Electric Car In 10 years, it is believed that the electric car will slowly start to push the gasoline/petrol vehicle to the curb, and it will do it with style and swagger. In this ever growing age of technology and advancement, more and more people are either looking very seriously into or have already transitioned from ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles. The transition is seemingly a slow one for the majority of the public and although it is understandable, it is also inevitable. Combustion engine vehicles have been around for over a century and have dominated the car industry greatly. The reliance on ICE engines can be visible in any direction someone turns, walking through the streets of any city. The mindset that ICE rules, and is the only efficient and viable method of transportation is slowly being replaced by the ever decreasing well of fossil fuels and oil on earth. Oil has been the spine of the Earth and the gasoline car, it s pumping heart. There are many reasons that more and more people are turning to electric. Some of the advantages are: Higher efficiency by as much as 400 to 600 percent over an internal combustion engine No polluting byproducts because this car gets its power from batteries, the wind or the sun Three times as efficient as gas engines Is extremely safe Gets better mileage than any other car on the road Quiet to drive Convenient Durable Although everyone has his or her personal motivations to owning and driving electric, some ... • 44. Irish Fiddle Essay I very much enjoyed Irish Folk Celtic Fiddle. The song is upbeat and exciting. When it first began, I immediately thought of Irish step dancing and the tapping of shoes on the floor. It easily makes one want to get up and dance. The reason it is perfect for dancing is because of the enthusiastic rhythm and speed. It is played at a very fast tempo. When a tempo is quick, there is more energy and it is thrilling compared to a slow song that is relaxing and meaningful. The majority of the notes are very quick while a few are a bit longer. One part that interested me the most was at 0:43 in the video and it caught my attention because the sound was unique. Just from hearing it, I can imagine how difficult it must be to move a bow that quickly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Margery Kemp s Interactions with The Virgin Mary Essay Margery Kemp s Interactions with The Virgin Mary According to her own testimony, Margery Kempe s spirituality involved deeply passionate experiences of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Kempe had the gift of tears meaning that, for years, she was unable to attend mass without crying profusely, and, as often as not, sobbing loudly and theatrically. Her adventurous life included a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where much weeping and wailing took place, and tanglings with several Bishops, including the Archbishop of Canterbury. In chapter 3 Margery has a rather jumbled account of a vision of heaven. Then Margery starts to begin to have the desire to stop having sex. Which I assure you doesn t go well with her husband. Then Margery meets with a priest who becomes her protector all the time she is in Rome. God provides a miracle in which they can understand each other s speech, though she speaks no German and he speaks no English. Margery, who has been wearing white (virgin s clothing, suggesting a religious vow) is asked by this priest to leave off wearing it, and she obeys. He also sends her to be servant to a poor woman, as a form of penance, though I m not sure what for. Although she starts to wear white again in chapter 37 because God tells her to. Then later on Margery has a literal marriage to God, followed by visions of angels, divine smells and music, and a warmth in her breast which lasts, she tells us, 16 years. One result is that she weeps when she sees a handsome man on the street, because it makes her think of Christ. Later on she elaborates on the marriage with a strong suggestion of a sexual consummation. Here and in the next chapter 37, there are more conversations with God and he promises to be closer to her. She is also told to resume wearing white, which her confessor allows because he sees it s God s will and doesn t dare object. Then God has her give away all her money, so that she must live on charity. She doesn t like this at all, but God reassures her with people who give her charity and help. Then a Priest came from England who helps her get back home. Margery en ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that lower class children are still more likely to have a lesser education than those pupils who are more privileged (). Rather than improving life chances for all the pupils through education the system, it still leaves a barrier which is not equal. This lack of equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents have about schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents that have more of a cultural, social and economical capital have more choice on where to send their child. Money can help if the best school is far away of if the child needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a good understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to influence their child to choose a certain path. This therefore puts the middle class and above in an improved position than the classic working class as they would have the knowledge as well as the finances to put their child in a higher achieving school with a higher reputation or place them in private schools, like; Harrow or Eton, which would be the gateway to success as they would more and greater connections in the real ... • 51. Analysis Of Ketchum s The Fall And Winter Of 1776 Ketchum begins in the fall and winter of 1776 in describing the events of the campaign. At the time, the future of the Revolution was in serious doubt men were freezing, starving, and the Continental Army was dissolving around General Washington. More than anything else, he needed a victory. Ketchum displays to the reader how exactly the colonials got into such a distressing situation in the first place. Traveling back to 1774 and 1775 Ketchum explores the reason behind why and how the entire situation occurred in the first place. The motivations of both the English crown and the colonials are explored throughout the book. For example, the motivations of King George III are explored in the section Everyone Who Does Not Agree With Me Is A Traitor . Ketchum describes the early life of George III which would motivate his latest moves against the colonies. George III felt he had to almost be more English than the English themselves , to paraphrase the honor of England and the crown were his preeminent concerns. Ketchum also described the wide variety of ailments, mostly hereditary ones, which plagued the king. Put these together and it s no surprise he was less than willing to listen to the pleas of his colonial subjects. Ketchum also went into a good deal of detail as to the workings and motivations of the British government at the time. Finally, he lists the events leading up to the actual winter of 1776, the conditions on the ground and then goes over the actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
