The Use of Police Canines Essay
Police Canine Association
The United States Police Canine Association became the largest and oldest active organization of its
kind Ever striving for the betterment of all police K 9 in August, 1971 when two existing associations,
the Police K 9 Association and the United States K 9 Association, merged (O Heare). These two
organizations now know that strength is in unity. From these groups merged different types of canine
from basic patrol dog to the scent specialty dog and final to the great detector dog. Law Enforcement
requires canines that have outstanding performance and physical/psychological health. Also, canines
should be balanced in aggression behavior and social play. There is an abundance of good and bad to

Behavior Theory: Effects of Jute Jute is protective equipment that is worn during training to allow the
canine to bite without hurting the trainer. This interferes with training process of canines while
searching buildings. Canines that are trained with the Jute method respond to the odor of the jute
rather than human scent. Human scent is composed of skin flakes, perspiration, skin oils, and gaseous
components that are perceived by dogs through their Olfactory senses (O Heare). Olfactory sensitivity
helps that canine to distinguish between different human odors and to smell significantly, better than
human beings. In fact, the Institute for Biological Detection Systems at Auburn University (1998)
found that canines could be trained to detect as many as ten separate and distinct odors without any
deterioration in performance (O Heare). Although, canines know the difference between smells, when
trained with Jute when searching for criminals without the odor of the protective wear the dog may get
confused or be slower to find the suspect. It may cause a problem when finding and indicating.
Case Law: Instrumentality of force The use of canines in the past provided law enforcement with a
valuable tool, which if used properly, can improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of policing, all
the while serving as an important public relations tool (O Heare). Some may argue that the uses of
canines are classified as Weapons , but it is only an

The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith
Adam Smith s masterpiece writing, The Wealth of Nations, attempts to create a different
understanding of the economy from his age. The focus mainly remains on mercantilism the most
prevalent economic system for Western Society at this time. Smith s simple and in depth explanations
of even the most basic economic concepts allow for someone with little to no prior knowledge of
economics to easily grasp his meaning, and coupling these explanations with real life examples
provides even more teaching power to Smith s words. The text is split up between five different books
of varying length covering the division of labor, capital, the progress of opulence, the mercantile
system, and the role of government.
The first book of The Wealth of Nations begins with discussions on the division of labor, which Smith
considers to be the greatest improvements for the productivity of labor. To illustrate his point, Smith
gives an example of the pin making industry as a case where division of labor does not just increase
productivity proportionally to how much the tasks have been split, but exponentially. Smith explains
that, a singular pin maker unknowledgable of most tasks required in pin making could not make more
than twenty pins in one day; whereas, ten pin makers each taking over some portion of the process can
make upwards of 48,000 pins in one day. In the same way that the division of labor applies to pin
making so too does it apply to all industries. Smith goes on to give three

the problem but there is a group called Golden Triangle Asian Elephant foundation (GTAEF) that puts
its efforts towards rescuing the elephants that seemed abandon or lost off the streets of Thailand. Even
though there are a few recovery plans in plans and they all have made a small impact yet none are
really making the difference that is needed for this species to survive. [pic] Figure 2: An Asian Rhino

They have a huge impact on the ecosystem that they live in. According to Bagheera website, even the
droppings that elephants leave behind are important ecosystem to survive. Elephants are very strong
and they can take out several trees with their trunks, dig waterholes, and make trails in the forest.
Many animals depend on the elephants for survival. Without these magnificent creatures many
countries would suffer and the effect would be catastrophic worldwide. An example of how other
species benefit would be the waterholes the elephants dig. In many cases that water hole is the only

The Theory Of Decision Making
In our everyday life we are in front of multiple decisions to take, from the easy ones as what coffee to
get to the more complicated ones, as what jobs to apply for. The word Decision originated from Latin
word de ciso which indicates cutting off . This implicates that the act of deciding is to come to a
conclusion among different options. How many options are available though? Throughout the years,
many behavioural scientists proposed different theories in order to explain how we face decisions and
act before them. Do we calculate them all accurately before cutting off ? One of the most recognized
theories for decision making is the von Neumann Morgenstern utility theorem (1944), which states
that the decision maker in front of all the different choices will behave as if he is maximizing the
expected value of some function defined over the potential outcomes. Based on the expected utility,
the von Neumann Morgenstern model is constructed upon the fundamental assumption that humans
behave in a perfect rational way being able to calculate all the options and choosing among them the
one that allows to maximize the expected utility. However, as the major critics to this model sustain,
individuals are not fully rational when taking decisions. Their cognitive process is limited to the
complexity of the environment in which they are taking decisions. The homo economicus is portrayed
as capable of solving complex problems of optimization of resources allocation as well as

Safety Aesthetic Effects, Contingent Liability And Health...
Group Project Introduction: This report is based upon the current and potential problems observed
during the visit of the city zone apartments at Liverpool Street, Auckland CBD. The observations done
by the team to conduct the evaluation of the problem related to facility management. Our report
discusses that organisation needs to properly facilitate the operations of the building. This report
includes occupational safety aesthetic effects, Contingent liability and health issues. The major
problems, which were analysed by the team during the visit, were ventilation problem in rubbish
room, car parking and fire exits (staircase). The second problem is in the context of water seepage in
the area of car parking. The major effected areas are floor of car parking, walls and celling s. The third
facility management problem of the building diagnosed by the team was security. The building does
not have on site monitoring room, dead end signal in the car parking area and reflecting mirrors at the
sharp turns in the car parking. The pictures, which have been clicked by the observation team during
the problem finding, supporting all the problems and these pictures are being attached as evidence of

Enthalpy Lab Report Essay
Abstract
This lab is performed in order to determine the total energy in a reaction between zinc and
hydrochloric acid. The reaction is done twice, once to measure the heat of the reaction and again to
determine the work done in the system. This is because Enthalpy equals heat plus work (∆H= ∆E+W).
Heat and work can be broken down further into separate components so the equation used in lab is
∆H=mc∆T + PV. Many calculations are used in the lab to find out what cannot be measured directly
(ex: volume). After all the calculations were complete it was shown to have a very small percent error.
Introduction: The theory behind this experiment is the heat of a reaction (∆E) plus the work (W) done
by a reaction is equal to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hydrochloric acid is put into a calorimeter and then the zinc is added after. The lid is closed after
the zinc is added and a thermometer is inserted through the lid in order to check the temperature as the
reaction takes place . The temperature is measured until the reaction has completed and the highest
temperature is used as the final temperature. ∆T is then found by the equation ∆T=Tfinal Tinitial.
Then according using the equation ∆H=mc ∆T+PV. In this lab the pressure remains constant while the
volume is changing. In order to calculate the volume the same reaction with the same amount of zinc
and hydrochloric acid is used. However, instead of a calorimeter, an erhlenmeyer flask with a balloon
put over the top is used. The hydrochloric acid is placed into a flask, the zinc is placed inside the
balloon and then sealed over the flask. By dropping the zinc into the flask the reaction occurs. This
allows the H₂ gas to be captured in the balloon. The circumference of the balloon is then found. The
circumference can then be applied to the equation C=2πr and the radius is determined. Using the
radius of the balloon, in the equation V=(4/3)πr³ the volume taken up by the hydrogen gas can be
found. The pressure is the pressure of the air which is measured with a barometer. ∆H can be found by
multiplying the mass of hydrochloric acid, the specific heat of HCl, and ∆T of the hydrochloric

Emotional Intelligence And Social Pressures
Emotional intelligence exposes an individual s ability to regulate their emotions, in an attempt to
acknowledge their partner s perspective and convey intimacy and commitment in their relationship. In
the framework of marriage, I do agree with the author that emotional intelligence may exist as the glue
that holds a marriage together, as individuals must retain an aptitude to illustrate compassion and
empathy with their partner. According to the text, evidence of a steady erosion of social pressures the
stigma surrounding divorce, or the economic dependence on wives on their husbands that used to keep
couples together in even the most miserable of matches surfaces (Goleman, 2005, p. 129). Due to
societal deviations, couples no longer uncover themselves in an obligation to continue their marriages
when confronting undesirable situations. Because obligations no longer keep couples together,
emotional intelligence importance amplified. The general challenge with marital emotional
intelligence subsists as gender differences. In fact, emotional differences, while they may be partly
biological, also can be traced back to childhood, and to the separate emotional worlds boys and girls
inhabit while growing up (Goleman, 2005, p. 130). Due to the dissimilarity in childhood worlds, I
agree with the author that we need to make a point of talking to boys, in particular, about emotional
intelligence. Originating in elementary school, society articulates that males must conceal

Another type is Rheumatoid arthritis. It is what s known as an inflammatory arthritis. It is the second
most common form of arthritis, right behind osteoarthritis. It affects primarily the small joints in the
hands and feet, causing crippling deformities. This is an arthritis that usually starts in middle life or
earlier. Estimates say one out of every hundred people, (females are two to three times as likely) suffer
from it. It usually starts in the winter and after a common sickness, but it isn t considered an infective
arthritis. Nobody knows what causes rheumatoid arthritis. It could be some hereditary trait. Scientists
think that rheumatoid arthritis may be an autoimmune disease (that means the body acts as though it
were allergic to itself). The immune system gets mixed up and attacks normal joint tissue instead of
the infection it is supposed to attack.
Polyarteritis Nodosa is also an inflammatory arthritis. It can even be life threatening. However, it is a
rarer form of arthritis. It affects four times as many males as females, and of those, mostly young
adults. Some symptoms are joint and muscle pain, ulcers, sores on the legs, and gangrene on your
fingers and toes (because of cut off blood supply to those parts). The organs of the body are almost
always all involved. Symptoms like sudden blindness, hemiplegia, and heart disease

Psychology of the Unconscious
Introduction Through the different processes of social attachment and detachment, individuals are
shaped and influenced because of the way people and entities become connected in our shared worlds
(Redman, 2008a, p. 181). These processes are important mechanisms by which collective worlds and
the individuals who reside in these worlds are created (Redman, 2008b, p. 4). From a psychoanalytic
point of view, sociologists suggest that these social attachments happen through processes that are, to
some extent, unconscious (The Open University, 2014a). These processes, which range from thoughts
and feelings to impulses and emotional textures, are not easily available to conscious reflection.
However, the effects of unconscious activity can be located in conscious thought and witnessed in
human interactions (Redman and Whitehouse Hart, 2008, p. 60). These unconscious processes
mediate our personal awareness of social worlds by translating the individuals and entities we
encounter in the outer world into forms that resonate with internal experiences, preoccupations,
fantasies and senses of self other relationships (Chodorow, 1999, cited in Redman, 2008a, p. 177).
This assignment will explore how social worlds are mediated by unconscious processes using research
surveillance from the television programme Big Brother , the Northern Ireland Troubles and the case
of Victoria Climbié. Furthermore, it will outline some potential criticisms of this claim. Transference,
projection,

Eurasian Steppes, East Of Korea On The Edges Of The Old...
Throughout Eurasian Steppes, east of Korea on the edges of the Gobi Desert and north of the
boundaries of the old Chinese empire and the Great Wall is where the modern day Mongolians are
located. They did not just settle amongst an entire continent and then some, they fought their way
towards civilization. Centuries ago they were named The Mongols , nomadic people that were known
for their military forces formed by the great Temujin s father before he died. Temujin was too young to
lead the land force and they would eventually destroy the clan from the inside, fighting over the goods
that were left. Once he became of age he assembled the Mongols and perfected them for his plans of
conquest. Temujin earned the actual name Genghis (Chinggis) Khan for being the first great Khan of
the Mongols and Universal Leader. His dominant implementations gave the Mongols a purpose to
march behind him along his journey of conquering. Temujin established this name from symbolizing
the role of a Great Khan with perfection. He became the Great Unifier once he assembled his clan,
which are considered today to be the Mongols. To gain greater land his masterminded plan of
conquest was to invade the Western Xia Dynasty first, since they were claimed to be the weakest of
the Northern kingdoms along the Great Wall of China. The capital city of the Jing Dynasty, Yanjing,
which is today s Beijing was then overthrown by Kahn in the year of 1215. After every conquest

The Porters Five Forces Model
The Porters Five Forces Model was devised by Professor Michael Porter. The aim of the model is too
analyse the nature of competiton within an industry. This means that the porters five forces model can
be a powerful tool (E. Dobbs, 2014). The first of the forces is competition in the motor industry. There
is a high level of competition within the motor industry as the companies have a high level of
competition between themselves especially when it comes to marketing and innovation this is seen on
a daily basis with the sometimes odd tv adverts used by car companies in order to differentiate
themselves. The industry has many firms in it that have chosen to specialse across all areads such as
cost, fuel efficient, brand image and style. However the Auto industry is segmented as it ranges from
high cost and very specialist companies all the way down to low cost mass production companies.
This can be seen as you wouldn t say that Ferrari is competiting with KIA. However there is a high
level of competition between firms. The next of porters five forces is the bargaining power of buyer
which in this case is customers. The customers of the Auto Industry are what provides the revenue for
all of the incumbents in the market. The result of this is that there are low switching costs in the
market place this means that customers would be able to switch between competing firms for no extra
cost. This ties in with the next point which is that customers also have access to accurate

Project Energy Efficient Database Management Systems Essay
Abstract Energy is a growing component of the operational cost for many data intensive deployments.
A large number of efforts have been made in the field of energy efficient computing at various levels
ranging from individual hardware components, system software and to applications.
In this paper, I have described the concept of energy efficiency problem and recent techniques to
design energy efficient database management systems. I have broadly classified recent research into
three categories: hardware based, software based and cluster based database designs. Last section of
paper includes a description of power models used for evaluation of energy efficiency solutions.
Section 1
Introduction
Data center industry supporting internet has become world s largest consumer of energy. In 2013,
nearly three million computer rooms in US used enough energy to power all the households in New
York for two years, equivalent to the annual output of 34 large coal fired power plants[1]. Direct
monthly energy costs for data centers make up around 23% of the total amortized monthly operating
costs [19].
This data revolution has led to an exponential growth in digital data making database management
systems (DBMS) one of the major energy consumers in data centers. Enterprise server systems
reportedly operated on over 9 zettabytes (1 zettabyte = 1021 bytes) of data in 2008 [2], with data
volumes doubling every 12 to 18 months. Businesses such as Amazon and Wal Mart heavily rely

The Hundred Years War Essay
The Hundred Years War The Hundred Years War was a war between England and France in which
France defended its crown against British rule. This war had a great impact on the people of each
country.
The origin of the war goes back to the conquest of William for England. In 1066
William, the Duke of Normandy, led an army into England. He won this battle and became the king of
England. This was possible under feudalism. Feudalism is a form of social classification in which the
members of an upper class are granted fifes, or pieces of land, by higher ranking noblemen return for
their military service. The vassal, the person receiving the land, had to go through ceremony in which

(16). In 1337 Edward III would return to France to claim what he felt what was rightfully his. (Time
Life 17).
On October 19, 1337, Edward III drafted a document to Philip of Valois that said that Edward was the
rightful king of France and that Edward would no longer pay homage to Philip of the French lands
that he owned. This letter was given to him by
Henry Burghersh, the bishop of England. Philip just sat back and smiled and prepared for war (Time
Life 17). Edward drafted this document because he disagreed with the way that Philip was ruling the
land that he owned. There were dukes and lords appointed by
Philip to rule over the lands of Edward III. Edward wanted to rule them himself. The two tried to work
out their differences, but failed. This situation was made more awkward because of other economic
problems between the 2 countries. England and France depended on each other. France was England s
main supplier of salt and France depended on England for wool. English also held the port at

The knowledge of genetic variability is a pre requisite to study the evolutionary history of a species, as
well as for other intraspecific variation, genetic resource conservation etc. (Islam et al. 2007). Hence,
genetic diversity and gene differentiation through molecular marker analysis are essential for their
taxonomic relationship evaluation, conservation and sustainable utilization. For proper conservation
programme it is essential to characterize the plants genetically. Number of molecular markers is being
regularly used for studying genetic relations, population genetics, genetic characterizations in different
plant groups and cultivars. The molecular markers are not influenced by the external environmental
factor unlike that of morphological markers and hence accurately testify the genetic relationship
between and among plant groups. Molecular markers like RAPD, ISSR and SSR are being used
regularly for genetic diversity assessment as a thorough knowledge of the level and distribution of
genetic variation is essential for conservation (Dreisigacker et al. 2005; Sharma et al. 2008; Naik et al.

The Conversion Option l l
In a typical convertible bond, the bondholder is given the option to convert the bond into a specified
number of shares of stock. The conversion ratio measures the number of shares of stock for which
each bond may be exchanged. Stated differently, the market conversion value is the current value of
the shares for which the bonds can be exchanged. The conversion premium is the excess of the bond
value over the conversion value of the bond. The conversion option in a convertible bond is equity.
9
Convertible Bond Value and the Conversion Option
10
Determinants of Value of Conversion Option l The conversion option is a call option on the
underlying stock, and its value is therefore determined by the variables that affect call option values
the underlying stock price, the conversion ratio (which determines the strike price), the life of the
convertible bond, the variance in the stock price and the level of interest rates.
11
Factors in Using Option Pricing Models to Value Convertibles and Warrants l Option pricing models
can be used to value the conversion option with three caveats
conversion options are long term, making the assumptions about constant variance and constant
dividend yields much shakier, conversion options result in stock dilution, and conversion options are
often exercised before expiration, making it dangerous to use European option pricing

How Did Abraham Lincoln s Impact On Society

Traditional and new media effected the way citizens voted since the age of the telegraph. Invented by
Samuel Morse in the early 1800s, telegraphs transmitted electrical signals over a wire attached with a

excessively was Abraham Lincoln. During that time, the telegraph was around for over 17 years
before Congress would finance Samuel Morse s telegraph. With the new technology and a telegraph

Analisis of Human Exposure to Chloroform in a Hot Tub
Abstract Hot tubs are very popular across America due to their relaxation as well as health benefits.
Hot tubs have been attributed health benefits ranging from relief of muscle and joint pain, to help in
treatment of HIV and other viral infections. Because of this, many people own hot tubs and many
more go to health spas where they can use them. On the other hand, hot tubs are not that easy to
maintain. A consistent disinfectant level must be maintained in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria
which could cause infections to the people who use them. The disinfectant of choice for most hot tubs
is chlorine, mainly because of its effectiveness, persistence in the water, and the familiarity with its
properties. Since the 70 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with chlorine is that it reacts with organic matter in water to form chloroform, a known
carcinogen. The efficiency of chlorines disinfection capabilities depends on the free chlorine in the
water. Free chlorine refers to the amount of chlorine in the water after the demand for chlorine in the
water has been satisfied. In other words, the free chlorine is the one that s available to disinfect or kill
microorganisms. Since the free chlorine in hot tub water is recommended to be around 3 5 ppm, this
means that there will be a higher concentration of chloroform in the tub water than in for example tap
water that has free chlorine level of only 1 2ppm when leaving the treatment plant. In addition the
high temperature of the water combined with the aeration by the jet bubbles will enhance the 2

Family Farm Research Paper
In this essay I m going to write about how different markets in the world are linked together. I am
going to talk about how in my life different markets are related on our family farm. In the farming
business and agriculture field in general, there is so many markets that can be linked in so many ways
it is crazy. The process is literally endless with buying, selling, feeding, caring for, protecting and
many others. I m just going to start off with the raising animal s aspect. We raise beef cows and calves,
pigs and run a steer finishing lot. The beginning process with the animals is actually buying them to
start your business. You could buy the cows at the local cattle auction and raise them to become your
own. In the process of raising these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now you been raising these animals for the last 12 15 months. You have invested so much money in
them and that is why you are now going to take them to the market and sell them for a profit.
Obviously you are trying to sell these animals for a higher price than what you bought them at. In the
cattle market the price are so up and down because of other factors in the economy.
There are so many other thing that are related to raising animals. All the equipment and building
needed to raise them. There fields of where they came from, how they were built and how they got
where they are. The veterinary bills for surprising accidents. The electricity, machinery need for
transporting and planting/harvesting, and so many others things that you can t even imagine.
The whole process of linked things in our world is really endless. You don t ever really realize how
and why everything is connected, but it is in some shape or form. I narrowed it down to the agriculture
field because it is an important area of our interactive world. The agriculture field may be a small part
to some people but once they realize how the agriculture field is related to the rest of the world they
can understand the importance of

How Does Victor Delamonte Become An Independent Person
Several factors can change a person, whether it is a a turbulent childhood, the amount of wealth one
has, the people around one or the amount of time one has left. In Mitch Auburn s book The
Timekeeper, Victor Delamonte faces the same situations and becomes an independent but conceited
person. Victor is a very independent person; he does not like being helpless and holding on to things.
He hates it when he is powerless. When his wife, Grace, told Victor that he should start using an
electric wheelchair, Victor yelled I don t need it (pg.52). Also, when Victor was on his dialysis for his
liver cancer, he said he hated being stuck like this. Hooked up to a machine to remove his blood. What
kind of position was that for a man like him? (pg.59).

Construction Of The Parthenon
The question of why the Parthenon was constructed has aroused debate both in the time of its
construction all the way up to the modern day. The Parthenon in Athens is one of the most impressive
pieces of architecture from the Greek world, made from Pentelic marble and some say that it enjoys
the reputation of being the most perfect Doric temple ever built (Norwich 2001: 63). The question as
to why it was built remains however and this essay will set out the main argument for the construction
of the Parthenon that it was a monument to Athenian imperialism and then move to arguing other
factors that may have made the Parthenon a religious and cultural statement for Athenians.
But first, before this question is answered we must understand the historical context behind the
construction of the Parthenon. The Parthenon that exists today was built to replace the old Parthenon
which was never fully finished due to it being destroyed when the Persians sacked the city and burned
the Acropolis to the ground levelled everything...set fire to the entire acropolis (Herodotus 8.53.2).
The Parthenon was built even though in the Oath of Platea the Greek city states decreed that they
would not rebuild that which the Persians had destroyed, therefore the Athenians had arguably
violated the Oath. The Parthenon was built during the Age of Pericles and the architects Ictinos and
Kallikrates began building the Parthenon in 447 BC under Phidias and was basically finished in 432
BC with the decorations being finished in 431 BC.
The widely held belief when it comes to the Parthenon is that it is a statement of Athenian imperialism
especially when it comes to how the building itself was funded with the use of φόρος phoros , which
we know means tribute, from the League. We can at least be sure that the reserve of the Delian League
was in fact used for the rebuilding of the Acropolis. (Meiggs 1963: 43.) Due to this it must be true that
the Parthenon was a statement of Athenian Imperialism both because the Delian League by this point
had ceased to be a League of equals and had morphed into the Athenian Empire, and that tribute, of
about 460 talents per year in the early stages of the League according to Aristides, that was meant

The Effects of Globalization: Stopping Wars and Decimating Identities
How many technological devices do you use daily? In this day and age, the list would probably
include smart phones, laptop computers, tablets, or more, but do you know where these devices were
made? Even if your device was assembled locally, there is a good chance that the parts inside come
from a collaboration of companies working together from all over the globe that are part of the global
supply chain. For the last few decades, more and more companies rely on outsourcing, to produce
their products and to provide services. Which, in effect, has globalized our world and depends on
countries being able to collaborate and work together to provide the products and services demanded
by the customers at the end of the supply chain. As an example, journalist and author Thomas L.
Friedman describes the global collaboration that took place in the production of a Dell laptop he had
ordered, in his article, The Dell Theory of Conflict Prevention, from his book The World is Flat.
Friedman speaks of the flattening of the world, which is an international equalization of business
competition, facilitated by increasing interconnectedness. He proposes that because of this flattening
of the globe, the countries involved in the supply chains are hesitant to be involved in war because
they do not want to risk losing their place in the supply chain and the higher standard of living that
comes with it. These countries are

Natural gas pipelines in British Columbia were bombed six times between October 2008 and July

Sophisticated hackers have expanded their threat matrix to include cyber attacks on the computer
systems used to operate the world s pipelines. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA )
systems are increasingly subject to targeted attacks. Cyber attacks can be perpetrated over the Internet

Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin Essay
Imagine finding out that your entire life was a lie, and that every single thing you knew about your
identity and your family was completely false! Armand Aubigny, one of the main characters in
Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin, experiences this exact dilemma throughout this short story. Desiree s
Baby is a story about a young man and woman, who fall in love, but Desiree, who does not know her
birth parents, is considered nameless. When she and Armand have a child, they are both very surprised
because the child s skin color is not white as expected. It is obvious that the child is biracial, and
immediately, Desiree is blamed for the color of the child s skin because of her uncertain background.
The truth, however, is that it is Armand who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

against the stone pillar I whose shadow she has lain asleep, eighteen years before, that Armand

narrator all of the Aubigny s fell victim to the love at first sight theory! Chopin brilliantly explains the
ways of the Aubigny men by writing that was the way the Aubigny s fell in love, as if struck by a
pistol shot (Madden 947) The reader also sees Armand s passion when he is warned by about Desiree
s unknown identity, be he does not care. The narrator continues to say , The passion that awoke in him
that day, when he saw her at the gate, swept along like an avalanche, or like a prairie fire, or like
anything that drives headlong over all obstacles. (Chopin 947 ) Unfortunately for Armand, the
obstacles he and his family Walko 3 were going to face would prove to be too much for him to handle.
As you continue to read this short story you realize that Armand is an arrogant man who is passionate
and very proud of his families status and accomplishments yet despite advancements in the freeing of
the slaves, he remains a racist. Armand is also characteristically a very proud person. Proud of his

Tale Of Two Cities Injustice
A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale Of Two Cities was during the French Revolution. It was a time of disorder and also an
outstanding period. It was the time of fear, of lots of violence, robberies, and blood all over the streets.
It was the time of joy and happiness. It was the time of injustice throughout society. A time of great

major theme is metaphorically resurrected from death and having a second chance at life. Another

The Pearl Of Great Price By Joseph Smith Jr.
Joseph Smith Jr. was born in Sharon, Vermont on December 23, 1805. Smith was characterized as

Presbyterians as his mother demanded, or whether to join the credo of the Baptists, take up the faith of

Innate And The Immune System
In this essay the link between the two different parts of the immune system should be explained. The
immune system consists of the innate immune system on the one hand and the adaptive immune
system on the other. The innate system reacts fast and protects the body through barriers or special
cells, but the specificity of this system is very low. Contrary to the innate system acts the adaptive
system. It is needed if the innate system fails and therefore takes more time to get activated, but its
specificity is very high. This essay should describe, how these two systems work together and how
they are linked up to each other.
The immune system consists of two parts, the innate and the adaptive part. The biggest difference is,
that the adaptive immune system is very specific for certain pathogens, and it has the ability to
remember. That means, that the adaptive immune system gets better after each infection with the same
pathogen. (Roitt, et al., 1996)
The first contact from a pathogen with the body is always with the innate immune system. It is here to
prevent the body from an infection through pathogens and it forms the first defense line. The innate
immune system consists of physical barriers like the skin, proteins like the complement and certain
cells, primarily leucocytes. The two main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After much innovations of 21st century technology, Emirates establish its first A380 airbus fleet in

uses Biofuel and quieter noise volume with thrust reversal engines, giving its passengers great flight

2.5 Environmental factor The world as we know it to be is recently very ill. Due to much effect of
human activity, global temperature is rising at a fast rate per year, which leads to serious changes in
climate and weather. This results in aviation industries to be badly affected as the changes will lead to
flight delays and bumper flights due to mid air turbulence. Thus Emirates does take this factor into
serious considerations and started carrying out its Go Green plan in 2011 to reduce emition of
greenhouse gases. Airplanes can cause an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2)
thus Emirates carry out its flight operations using Biofuel. Though its expensive, usage of Biofuels for
its engines does save for a better environment. Emirates also carried out a Recycling plan in 2009 by

Examples Of As I Lay Dying Conflicts
Heroism with Conflicts The novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner is filled with moments of
great heroism and with struggles that are almost epic, but the novel s take on such battles is ironic at
best, and at times it even makes them seem downright absurd or mundane. The Bundren family is on a
mission to bury Addie. In the midst they defeat water and fire on the way to Jefferson where Addie is
to be buried. Their take on these engagements seem heroic, but they come to the point where the
family s / family member(s) actions are more foolish than anything. The Bundrens making their way
back to find a new way of crossing the flooded river at first seems noble but becomes over dramatic.

just getting rid of the pain and hurt. In addition, Jewel runs in to free the mules and horses and also to

respect for his mother. It also shows that he just wanted to save his horse and after doing so
remembered the coffin; feeling guilty he went back in to save it. Furthermore, Darl enters the burning
barm to help Jewel free the team and save the coffin. It is very absurd that someone would catch a

losing his mind; he has basically contradicted his action for setting the barn on fire. Therefore, Jewel
is the hero of this incident and Darl is the idiotic character; both play important parts but make the
story very confusing. In conclusion, the way that the family acts when fate occurs is heroic in a way
that is comical and unreasonable, but in some forms not important to the storyline of this

The Animal Use Of Animals In The Colosseum
I don t think that animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum for gladiator fights. Some might
believe that animals were used to make the fights more entertaining. But I believe that it was very
unkind to the animals and inhumane. This is misguided because they could have use something else to
entertain themselves like plays or something other than killing thousands of animals and humans.
Many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The animals killed a lot of people at the colosseum.
They(people in the colosseum and the townspeople) would kill a lot of animals. The definition of a
gladiator is a person who was a professional fighter, and fought in front of people in the colosseum in
the Roman Empire. Some things about the colosseum are it was started to be built in 70 A.D and
finished 10 years later. The height of the colosseum was 157ft and the perimeter was 1788 ft. There
were 4 floors and it could hold 50,000 people. The arena was 180 ft wide and 287 ft long. One other
thing about the colosseum is over 1 million animals died there. The first reason that i don t think
animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum is because many animals went extinct in the
colosseum. The first example is elephants, lions, and tigers from Africa and Asia were hunted until
extinct by the townspeople. I m wondering why the townspeople liked to kill and make some extinct?

Strategic Planning Should Not Be Underestimated
Introduction
The importance of strategic planning should not be underestimated. Without proper strategic planning
any organization is just waiting for unseen problems to interrupt normal business operations. Strategic
planning could be considered the backbone of the foundation of an organization. It is the glue which
links the organization s objectives to the customers themselves. Strategic planning helps the
organization in short term goals and perhaps more importantly determine the items need for term
success. The investment in strategic planning can be seen in specific elements which will aid in the
company s ability to grow as well as expand its market area. In addition to goal setting strategic
planning could be used to evaluate what may be beneficial to any organization s success process. This
means determining which avenues to use valuable resources for and others in which to discontinue or
scale back on. Because of the overall importance of strategic planning how to define whether a
strategic planning is valid must also be given much consideration. The Baldridge criteria is a highly
reliable source as well as well known institute, of which many organizations use to base their strategic
planning on. The Baldrige Program oversees the nation s only Presidential award for performance
excellence while offering criteria, assessments, tools, training and a community for those dedicated to
helping organizations improve. According to the Baldridge Performance

The Field By John Keane
The Field is a story written by John Keane and is about a farmer who is very poor and owns a piece of
land. He is renting a field from a woman who has now become a widow and is interested in selling the
land at an auction. Because she decides to sell the land at an expensive price, the poor farmer Bull
Mccabe is pushed into a very uncomfortable situation in which his desperation gets the best of him,
which ultimately leads to his involvement in a murder. A question arises from this man s predicament:
Were his actions acceptable? Just because someone becomes helplessly desperate, doesn t mean that
they must commit murder in order to fulfill their temporary desires. I believe that what Bull Maccabe
has done was a result pure desperation which was not in any way justifiable. Murder is a line that
should never be crossed except in particular circumstances. Ethically, it wouldn t be feasible to argue
taking someone s life unless it is to defend your own. The idea of murder is concept that globally, is
well understood as undeniably wrong. It should only be used as a last resort or self defense, as in the
act of war. Only in these situations would killing someone be an option. Not only are these cases ones
where you can no guilt afterwards, but you wouldn t even face the repercussions. Bull is so frustrated
with how he s going to lose his valuable land that he even calls William a thief: Now this robber
comes from nowhere and he s nothing less than a robber . The author here

This article is effective in promoting professionalism to a nursing student like me, in regard to the use
of electronics and social media. The consequences of misusing social media, the examples (law cases)
presented, the laws (HIPAA, and HITECH Act) presented, and the list of strategies gave me a full
understanding about E Professionalism. Almost everyone in our class have social media accounts, and
it is important to know our limits in sharing information online. I will use the strategies I learned from
this article to prevent misuse of social media in the future. This article presents one of the ethical
principles of nursing. This article pointed out the importance of respecting the patient s privacy. I
learned from our Ethics class session that Provision 3 of Code of Ethics is about the patient s right to
privacy and confidentiality. Furthermore, this article talked about two privacy laws, HIPAA and
HITECH. I learned from our Health Care Law class session the different federal laws, and that HIPAA
ensures the confidentiality of the patient s health information. Lastly, this article explained the
importance of professionalism in using electronic and social media. I learned from our
Professionalism class session that being professional is not just about having the skills, but also having
the dignity and respect to everyone. This article made me think about the importance of our N211
course. Up to this point, this course taught us the ethics and laws of nursing to prevent nursing issues
from happening. This article made me appreciate our N211 course because even though this course is
just one credit, it is as important as my other nursing

The Use of Police Canines Essay Police Canine Association The United States Police Canine Association became the largest and oldest active organization of its kind Ever striving for the betterment of all police K 9 in August, 1971 when two existing associations, the Police K 9 Association and the United States K 9 Association, merged (O Heare). These two organizations now know that strength is in unity. From these groups merged different types of canine from basic patrol dog to the scent specialty dog and final to the great detector dog. Behavior Theory: Effects of Jute Jute is protective equipment that is worn during training to allow the canine to bite without hurting the trainer. This interferes with training process of canines while searching buildings. Canines that are trained with the Jute method respond to the odor of the jute rather than human scent. Human scent is composed of skin flakes, perspiration, skin oils, and gaseous components that are perceived by dogs through their Olfactory senses (O Heare). Olfactory sensitivity helps that canine to distinguish between different human odors and to smell significantly, better than human beings. In fact, the Institute for Biological Detection Systems at Auburn University (1998) found that canines could be trained to detect as many as ten separate and distinct odors without any deterioration in performance (O Heare). Although, canines know the difference between smells, when trained with Jute when searching for criminals without the odor of the protective wear the dog may get confused or be slower to find the suspect. It may cause a problem when finding and indicating. Case Law: Instrumentality of force The use of canines in the past provided law enforcement with a valuable tool, which if used properly, can improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of policing, all the while serving as an important public relations tool (O Heare). Some may argue that the uses of canines are classified as Weapons , but it is only an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith Adam Smith s masterpiece writing, The Wealth of Nations, attempts to create a different understanding of the economy from his age. The focus mainly remains on mercantilism the most prevalent economic system for Western Society at this time. Smith s simple and in depth explanations of even the most basic economic concepts allow for someone with little to no prior knowledge of economics to easily grasp his meaning, and coupling these explanations with real life examples provides even more teaching power to Smith s words. The text is split up between five different books of varying length covering the division of labor, capital, the progress of opulence, the mercantile system, and the role of government. The first book of The Wealth of Nations begins with discussions on the division of labor, which Smith considers to be the greatest improvements for the productivity of labor. To illustrate his point, Smith gives an example of the pin making industry as a case where division of labor does not just increase productivity proportionally to how much the tasks have been split, but exponentially. Smith explains that, a singular pin maker unknowledgable of most tasks required in pin making could not make more than twenty pins in one day; whereas, ten pin makers each taking over some portion of the process can make upwards of 48,000 pins in one day. In the same way that the division of labor applies to pin making so too does it apply to all industries. Smith goes on to give three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Theory Of Decision Making In our everyday life we are in front of multiple decisions to take, from the easy ones as what coffee to get to the more complicated ones, as what jobs to apply for. The word Decision originated from Latin word de ciso which indicates cutting off . This implicates that the act of deciding is to come to a conclusion among different options. How many options are available though? Throughout the years, many behavioural scientists proposed different theories in order to explain how we face decisions and act before them. Do we calculate them all accurately before cutting off ? One of the most recognized theories for decision making is the von Neumann Morgenstern utility theorem (1944), which states that the decision maker in front of all the different choices will behave as if he is maximizing the expected value of some function defined over the potential outcomes. Based on the expected utility, the von Neumann Morgenstern model is constructed upon the fundamental assumption that humans behave in a perfect rational way being able to calculate all the options and choosing among them the one that allows to maximize the expected utility. However, as the major critics to this model sustain, individuals are not fully rational when taking decisions. Their cognitive process is limited to the complexity of the environment in which they are taking decisions. The homo economicus is portrayed as capable of solving complex problems of optimization of resources allocation as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Enthalpy Lab Report Essay Abstract This lab is performed in order to determine the total energy in a reaction between zinc and hydrochloric acid. The reaction is done twice, once to measure the heat of the reaction and again to determine the work done in the system. This is because Enthalpy equals heat plus work (∆H= ∆E+W). Heat and work can be broken down further into separate components so the equation used in lab is ∆H=mc∆T + PV. Many calculations are used in the lab to find out what cannot be measured directly (ex: volume). After all the calculations were complete it was shown to have a very small percent error. Introduction: The theory behind this experiment is the heat of a reaction (∆E) plus the work (W) done by a reaction is equal to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hydrochloric acid is put into a calorimeter and then the zinc is added after. The lid is closed after the zinc is added and a thermometer is inserted through the lid in order to check the temperature as the reaction takes place . The temperature is measured until the reaction has completed and the highest temperature is used as the final temperature. ∆T is then found by the equation ∆T=Tfinal Tinitial. Then according using the equation ∆H=mc ∆T+PV. In this lab the pressure remains constant while the volume is changing. In order to calculate the volume the same reaction with the same amount of zinc and hydrochloric acid is used. However, instead of a calorimeter, an erhlenmeyer flask with a balloon put over the top is used. The hydrochloric acid is placed into a flask, the zinc is placed inside the balloon and then sealed over the flask. By dropping the zinc into the flask the reaction occurs. This allows the H₂ gas to be captured in the balloon. The circumference of the balloon is then found. The circumference can then be applied to the equation C=2πr and the radius is determined. Using the radius of the balloon, in the equation V=(4/3)πr³ the volume taken up by the hydrogen gas can be found. The pressure is the pressure of the air which is measured with a barometer. ∆H can be found by multiplying the mass of hydrochloric acid, the specific heat of HCl, and ∆T of the hydrochloric ... • 8. Emotional Intelligence And Social Pressures Emotional intelligence exposes an individual s ability to regulate their emotions, in an attempt to acknowledge their partner s perspective and convey intimacy and commitment in their relationship. In the framework of marriage, I do agree with the author that emotional intelligence may exist as the glue that holds a marriage together, as individuals must retain an aptitude to illustrate compassion and empathy with their partner. According to the text, evidence of a steady erosion of social pressures the stigma surrounding divorce, or the economic dependence on wives on their husbands that used to keep couples together in even the most miserable of matches surfaces (Goleman, 2005, p. 129). Due to societal deviations, couples no longer uncover themselves in an obligation to continue their marriages when confronting undesirable situations. Because obligations no longer keep couples together, emotional intelligence importance amplified. The general challenge with marital emotional intelligence subsists as gender differences. In fact, emotional differences, while they may be partly biological, also can be traced back to childhood, and to the separate emotional worlds boys and girls inhabit while growing up (Goleman, 2005, p. 130). Due to the dissimilarity in childhood worlds, I agree with the author that we need to make a point of talking to boys, in particular, about emotional intelligence. Estimates say one out of every hundred people, (females are two to three times as likely) suffer from it. It usually starts in the winter and after a common sickness, but it isn t considered an infective arthritis. Nobody knows what causes rheumatoid arthritis. It could be some hereditary trait. Scientists think that rheumatoid arthritis may be an autoimmune disease (that means the body acts as though it were allergic to itself). The immune system gets mixed up and attacks normal joint tissue instead of the infection it is supposed to attack. Polyarteritis Nodosa is also an inflammatory arthritis. It can even be life threatening. However, it is a rarer form of arthritis. It affects four times as many males as females, and of those, mostly young adults. • 10. Psychology of the Unconscious Introduction Through the different processes of social attachment and detachment, individuals are shaped and influenced because of the way people and entities become connected in our shared worlds (Redman, 2008a, p. 181). These processes are important mechanisms by which collective worlds and the individuals who reside in these worlds are created (Redman, 2008b, p. 4). From a psychoanalytic point of view, sociologists suggest that these social attachments happen through processes that are, to some extent, unconscious (The Open University, 2014a). These processes, which range from thoughts and feelings to impulses and emotional textures, are not easily available to conscious reflection. However, the effects of unconscious activity can be located in conscious thought and witnessed in human interactions (Redman and Whitehouse Hart, 2008, p. 60). These unconscious processes mediate our personal awareness of social worlds by translating the individuals and entities we encounter in the outer world into forms that resonate with internal experiences, preoccupations, fantasies and senses of self other relationships (Chodorow, 1999, cited in Redman, 2008a, p. 177). This assignment will explore how social worlds are mediated by unconscious processes using research surveillance from the television programme Big Brother , the Northern Ireland Troubles and the case of Victoria Climbié. Furthermore, it will outline some potential criticisms of this claim. Transference, projection, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout Eurasian Steppes, east of Korea on the edges of the Gobi Desert and north of the boundaries of the old Chinese empire and the Great Wall is where the modern day Mongolians are located. They did not just settle amongst an entire continent and then some, they fought their way towards civilization. Centuries ago they were named The Mongols , nomadic people that were known for their military forces formed by the great Temujin s father before he died. Temujin was too young to lead the land force and they would eventually destroy the clan from the inside, fighting over the goods that were left. Once he became of age he assembled the Mongols and perfected them for his plans of conquest. Temujin earned the actual name Genghis (Chinggis) Khan for being the first great Khan of the Mongols and Universal Leader. His dominant implementations gave the Mongols a purpose to march behind him along his journey of conquering. Temujin established this name from symbolizing the role of a Great Khan with perfection. He became the Great Unifier once he assembled his clan, which are considered today to be the Mongols. To gain greater land his masterminded plan of conquest was to invade the Western Xia Dynasty first, since they were claimed to be the weakest of the Northern kingdoms along the Great Wall of China. The capital city of the Jing Dynasty, Yanjing, which is today s Beijing was then overthrown by Kahn in the year of 1215. After every conquest including Jing he would return ... • 12. The Porters Five Forces Model The Porters Five Forces Model was devised by Professor Michael Porter. The aim of the model is too analyse the nature of competiton within an industry. This means that the porters five forces model can be a powerful tool (E. Dobbs, 2014). The first of the forces is competition in the motor industry. There is a high level of competition within the motor industry as the companies have a high level of competition between themselves especially when it comes to marketing and innovation this is seen on a daily basis with the sometimes odd tv adverts used by car companies in order to differentiate themselves. The industry has many firms in it that have chosen to specialse across all areads such as cost, fuel efficient, brand image and style. However the Auto industry is segmented as it ranges from high cost and very specialist companies all the way down to low cost mass production companies. This can be seen as you wouldn t say that Ferrari is competiting with KIA. However there is a high level of competition between firms. The next of porters five forces is the bargaining power of buyer which in this case is customers. The customers of the Auto Industry are what provides the revenue for all of the incumbents in the market. The result of this is that there are low switching costs in the market place this means that customers would be able to switch between competing firms for no extra cost. This ties in with the next point which is that customers also have access to accurate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Project Energy Efficient Database Management Systems Essay Abstract Energy is a growing component of the operational cost for many data intensive deployments. A large number of efforts have been made in the field of energy efficient computing at various levels ranging from individual hardware components, system software and to applications. In this paper, I have described the concept of energy efficiency problem and recent techniques to design energy efficient database management systems. I have broadly classified recent research into three categories: hardware based, software based and cluster based database designs. Last section of paper includes a description of power models used for evaluation of energy efficiency solutions. Section 1 Introduction Data center industry supporting internet has become world s largest consumer of energy. In 2013, nearly three million computer rooms in US used enough energy to power all the households in New York for two years, equivalent to the annual output of 34 large coal fired power plants[1]. Direct monthly energy costs for data centers make up around 23% of the total amortized monthly operating costs [19]. This data revolution has led to an exponential growth in digital data making database management systems (DBMS) one of the major energy consumers in data centers. Enterprise server systems reportedly operated on over 9 zettabytes (1 zettabyte = 1021 bytes) of data in 2008 [2], with data volumes doubling every 12 to 18 months. • 22. Analisis of Human Exposure to Chloroform in a Hot Tub Abstract Hot tubs are very popular across America due to their relaxation as well as health benefits. Hot tubs have been attributed health benefits ranging from relief of muscle and joint pain, to help in treatment of HIV and other viral infections. Because of this, many people own hot tubs and many more go to health spas where they can use them. On the other hand, hot tubs are not that easy to maintain. A consistent disinfectant level must be maintained in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria which could cause infections to the people who use them. The disinfectant of choice for most hot tubs is chlorine, mainly because of its effectiveness, persistence in the water, and the familiarity with its properties. Since the 70 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with chlorine is that it reacts with organic matter in water to form chloroform, a known carcinogen. The efficiency of chlorines disinfection capabilities depends on the free chlorine in the water. Free chlorine refers to the amount of chlorine in the water after the demand for chlorine in the water has been satisfied. In other words, the free chlorine is the one that s available to disinfect or kill microorganisms. Since the free chlorine in hot tub water is recommended to be around 3 5 ppm, this means that there will be a higher concentration of chloroform in the tub water than in for example tap water that has free chlorine level of only 1 2ppm when leaving the treatment plant. In addition the high temperature of the water combined with the aeration by the jet bubbles will enhance the 2 volatilization of the chloroform into the air and this increases the exposure due to inhalation. The high temperature of water will also increase dermal absorption of chloroform. Of special interest, are wooden hot tubs. In this case, there is a constant source of organic matter(wood) for the chlorine to react with, and therefore increased concentrations of chloroform. This study will try to prove the hypothesis that using hot tubs, results in elevated exposures to chloroform due to various factors that enhance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the farming business and agriculture field in general, there is so many markets that can be linked in so many ways it is crazy. The process is literally endless with buying, selling, feeding, caring for, protecting and many others. I m just going to start off with the raising animal s aspect. • 25. Construction Of The Parthenon The question of why the Parthenon was constructed has aroused debate both in the time of its construction all the way up to the modern day. The Parthenon in Athens is one of the most impressive pieces of architecture from the Greek world, made from Pentelic marble and some say that it enjoys the reputation of being the most perfect Doric temple ever built (Norwich 2001: 63). The question as to why it was built remains however and this essay will set out the main argument for the construction of the Parthenon that it was a monument to Athenian imperialism and then move to arguing other factors that may have made the Parthenon a religious and cultural statement for Athenians. But first, before this question is answered we must understand the historical context behind the construction of the Parthenon. The Parthenon that exists today was built to replace the old Parthenon which was never fully finished due to it being destroyed when the Persians sacked the city and burned the Acropolis to the ground levelled everything...set fire to the entire acropolis (Herodotus 8.53.2). The Parthenon was built even though in the Oath of Platea the Greek city states decreed that they would not rebuild that which the Persians had destroyed, therefore the Athenians had arguably violated the Oath. The Parthenon was built during the Age of Pericles and the architects Ictinos and Kallikrates began building the Parthenon in 447 BC under Phidias and was basically finished in 432 BC with the decorations being finished in 431 BC. The widely held belief when it comes to the Parthenon is that it is a statement of Athenian imperialism especially when it comes to how the building itself was funded with the use of φόρος phoros , which we know means tribute, from the League. We can at least be sure that the reserve of the Delian League was in fact used for the rebuilding of the Acropolis. (Meiggs 1963: 43.) Due to this it must be true that the Parthenon was a statement of Athenian Imperialism both because the Delian League by this point had ceased to be a League of equals and had morphed into the Athenian Empire, and that tribute, of about 460 talents per year in the early stages of the League according to Aristides, that was meant ... Even if your device was assembled locally, there is a good chance that the parts inside come from a collaboration of companies working together from all over the globe that are part of the global supply chain. For the last few decades, more and more companies rely on outsourcing, to produce their products and to provide services. Which, in effect, has globalized our world and depends on countries being able to collaborate and work together to provide the products and services demanded by the customers at the end of the supply chain. As an example, journalist and author Thomas L. Friedman describes the global collaboration that took place in the production of a Dell laptop he had ordered, in his article, The Dell Theory of Conflict Prevention, from his book The World is Flat. Friedman speaks of the flattening of the world, which is an international equalization of business competition, facilitated by increasing interconnectedness. He proposes that because of this flattening of the globe, the countries involved in the supply chains are hesitant to be involved in war because they do not want to risk losing their place in the supply chain and the higher standard of living that comes with it. This is misguided because they could have use something else to entertain themselves like plays or something other than killing thousands of animals and humans. Many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The animals killed a lot of people at the colosseum. They(people in the colosseum and the townspeople) would kill a lot of animals. The definition of a gladiator is a person who was a professional fighter, and fought in front of people in the colosseum in the Roman Empire. Some things about the colosseum are it was started to be built in 70 A.D and finished 10 years later. The height of the colosseum was 157ft and the perimeter was 1788 ft. There were 4 floors and it could hold 50,000 people. The arena was 180 ft wide and 287 ft long. One other thing about the colosseum is over 1 million animals died there. The first reason that i don t think animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum is because many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The first example is elephants, lions, and tigers from Africa and Asia were hunted until extinct by the townspeople. I m wondering why the townspeople liked to kill and make some extinct? The second example is that sometimes whole species like European Wild horses, the Great Auk, the Aurochs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is renting a field from a woman who has now become a widow and is interested in selling the land at an auction. Because she decides to sell the land at an expensive price, the poor farmer Bull Mccabe is pushed into a very uncomfortable situation in which his desperation gets the best of him, which ultimately leads to his involvement in a murder. A question arises from this man s predicament: Were his actions acceptable? Just because someone becomes helplessly desperate, doesn t mean that they must commit murder in order to fulfill their temporary desires. I believe that what Bull Maccabe has done was a result pure desperation which was not in any way justifiable. Murder is a line that should never be crossed except in particular circumstances. Ethically, it wouldn t be feasible to argue taking someone s life unless it is to defend your own. The idea of murder is concept that globally, is well understood as undeniably wrong. It should only be used as a last resort or self defense, as in the act of war. Only in these situations would killing someone be an option. Not only are these cases ones where you can no guilt afterwards, but you wouldn t even face the repercussions. Bull is so frustrated with how he s going to lose his valuable land that he even calls William a thief: Now this robber comes from nowhere and he s nothing less than a robber . The author here ...
