Loueberry Lake Essay
We found that the limiting nutrient in Loughberry Lake is phosphorous. The most natural way that
phosphorous enters aquatic systems, is through the cycling and erosion of phosphorous rich rocks and
sediments. The phosphorous cycle takes a long time to complete, but through human processes such as
mining and runoff, phosphorous is able to enter our water sources much more quickly. There is also a
small amount of deposition that may occur from the atmosphere to the water. The most common
human source of phosphorous is urban and agricultural runoff. (Mahaney, Wendy. September 22...) In
Saratoga Springs there is a concentration of residential and urban infrastructure, which is a source of
runoff into Loughberry Lake and other surrounding waters. Fertilizers and manure also contain high
amounts of phosphorous, and tend to be the key culprits in phosphorous runoff (Mahaney, Wendy.
September 22...). The limiting nutrient in a water source is what controls algal growth, no mater how
much other nutrients is present, without that nutrient there will be no growth. In this regard it is
imperative to know what the limiting resource is in a drinking water system in order to maintain the
health of the system. Since phosphorous is naturally found in small quantities in water, if too much
phosphorous is present then algal growth will increase. Having such high levels of algal growth can
dramatically affect the lake s health, and can effect how a municipal government must treat its water.

Symbolism In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Setting of a Dream In the story, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the setting is used as
symbolism and portrays the differences between the natural world and life on the ranch. Many
particular phrases and objects foreshadow important events throughout the novel. Using imagery,
Steinbeck demonstrates the contrast between the world on the ranch and natural world. The nature of
the forest, river, and certain setting descriptions creates a deeper meaning that relates to many of the
themes in the story. To begin, the river is used to symbolize the dreams and goals of humanity. The
river separates two worlds from touching: On one side, there are beautiful rolling hills and strong
mountains. But, on the other side, The water is lined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who have wandered through the forest have stopped to reflect under the sycamore trees. The
trees were once new, beautiful, and young. However, throughout time, many people have come and sat
under the tree: and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs... and underneath the tree there is
an ash pile made by many fires (1 2). The unfortunate mark of humanity is left on the tree. On the
other hand, the invitation extended by the trees is accepted by travelers who long to accomplish their
dream. In the end, Lennie returns to the river when the light is turning dark. The dreams can no longer
be seen. The sycamore trees start to turn up their silver sides, the brown, dry leaves on the ground
scudded a few feet. And row on row of tiny wind waves flowed up the pool s green surface (99). The
final decision that George makes completely blinds him from his goal. When he walks away with
Slim, he is returning to the world on the ranch. George abandons the hope extended by the natural
world. He leaves the beauty serenity, and innocence of nature. He loses sight of his

The Structural Causes Of The 1979 Iranian Revolution
1979 Iranian Revolution
In the eyes of many Iranians, the Iranian Revolution started before 1979. After the 1953 coup driven
by the U.K and U.S ( specifically the C.I.A) the well liked prime minister Dr. Mossadeq was arrested.
Reinstated in Mossadeq s place was Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, AKA the Shah. The 1979 Revolution
was then led by Ayatollah Khomeini who found many problems with the Shah s rule of Iran,
beginning with the Shah s reform program. Key drivers of the 1979 Revolution were Iranians growing
frustration with economic inequality, the Shah s suppression of political opposition and widespread
resentment of the government s close ties to the United States and Britain.
After the 1953 coup, the Shah administration caused an economic split ... Show more content on

The Shah s use of the SAVAK is described in War and Peace: The Middle East in Transition by Ali
Ansari. August 19, 1978, the SAVAK burned down Rex Cinema in Abadan with 400 people in it. The
anger and grief that resulted from this event inspired even more people to riot and protest. Then on
September 8, 1978, police opened fire on people of the working class and university students that
were demonstrating in Tehran square. Over 100 people died as well as 400 other people suffered
injuries from this event dubbed Black Friday . This unacceptable use of police force to suffice political
opposition explains why the people of Iran became so angered with the Shah. In The Last Empress, by
Elaine Sciolino, a interview takes place with Farah Pahlavi. In the interview, the Shah s third wife,
Farah Pahlavi admits that some of the SAVAK agents went too far in killing the Shah s political
opposition. This sheds further light on the extremes that the Shah went to, to keep his

Theseus Character Analysis

lord Athens, is a merciful and noble duke (Chaucer 24). As a wise and noble leader, Thesëus, with a
heart of pity, mends the ailments of his people, as he [is] a true knight. (26).
How does Theseus treat the mourning women who ask for help against the tyrant Creon? Thesëus
mercifully agrees to to get vengeance on the tyrant Creon, who [set] his dogs to eat the women s
husbands instead of burying them. Theseus mercy did not reach so far, as he went to Thebes to fight

7. What is the situation of each knight at the close of Part One? What formal question is asked at the
end of the first part of the Knight s Tale? At the end of part one, Arcita leaves for Thebes, exiled
forever from Athens and distraught over never seeing his love again, while Palamon still lies in prison,
desolate without the company of his cousin, but still able to regale at the sight of Emily. The question
Who has the worse, Arcita or Palamon? allows the mind to wonder which fate is worse? Never seeing
your beloved, but living as a freeman, or imprisoned till death, but able to see the face or your love.

Knight s tale meets the requirement of a medieval romance in the first sentence, as it opens with a tale
of a far off land in ancient times. Idealized aristocratic conduct, another requirement a medieval

West Hendon Regeneration Scheme
The London Borough of Barnet Council sought to acquire the subject land, and the new rights over it,
in order to facilitate the regeneration of the West Hendon Estate and its immediate surroundings. The
scheme aims to provide; up to 2,000 residential dwellings, a new primary school, a community
facility, commercial units, and improved infrastructure in the area. The proposal is intended to provide
significant social, economic and environmental improvements for existing residents (The London
Borough of Barnet Council, 2014). It is to be delivered by Barratt Metropolitan LLP, a partnership of
Barratt London and Metropolitan Housing Trust, forming part of the wider Brent Cross Cricklewood
regeneration area, although being progressed independently.
The West Hendon regeneration scheme was identified in 2001 when the Decent Homes programme
required local authorities to offer residents a certain standard of housing. The West Hendon estate
failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration
would be the best way to achieve these. The Council s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of
the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent Homes
Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing buildings
within the Estate. The required area of land was defined and referenced as to land ownership and
occupation. The scheme has been split into development

A Brief Note On Sepsis And Septic Shock
SEPSIS/SEPTIC SHOCK 2013
Pathophysiology questions (50 points)
Adv Nursing questions (85 points)
Pharmacology (30 points)
1. Discuss the magnitude of bacteremia and sepsis in hospitalized patients and the relationship
between these two diagnoses. (5 points)
Septic shock is the leading cause of death for patients in intensive care units and is the final stage in a
continuum of infectious and inflammatory processes. This continuum begins with bacteremia, which
is the presence of bacteria in the blood. Normally the body s immune system can fight off a localized
infection caused by a small amount of bacteria in the blood and the person will remain asymptomatic.
However, a hospitalized patient could be immunocompromised, have a ... Show more content on

The systemic inflammatory response is the next step in the continuum and is a nonspecific
inflammatory state that may be seen with an infection. Sepsis is the presence of the systemic
inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) with evidence of infection. As the bacteria invade the
bloodstream, they release endotoxins that damage the endothelial cell lining and impair the vascular
system, coagulation mechanism, and immune system. These endotoxins also trigger the immune and
inflammatory responses, which results in the activation of macrophages and CD4 cells that release
proinflammatory cytokines to create a systemic inflammatory response to the pathogen. Hospitalized
patients may quickly progress from bacteremia to sepsis and finally to septic shock, even with
treatment.
2. What are the risk factors for infection and development of septic shock? Identify those that applied
to Mr. Roberts. (5 points)
Risk factors for infection can be anything that suppresses the ability of the host to resist the infectious
pathogen, including the following: drugs, such as steroids and chemotherapy; disorders that affect the
innate and adaptive immune responses, such as cancer, leukopenia, and HIV/AIDS; and a breakdown
of the first line of defense, such a trauma, broken skin, or surgical wounds. Patients are at risk for
developing sepsis and septic shock if they are very old or very young and have and inability to fight
off the infection. Some other risk factors for the

The Big Pine, Garlock, And San Andreas Fault
The three faults being considered are thought to have influenced the character of some 120,000 square
miles. The Big Pine, Garlock, and San Andreas faults are all mutually active, deep, long, and steep and
noted as being conjugate shears. In concert, the faults have defined a primary strain pattern of relative
east west extension and north south shortening of the area of 120,000 square miles. The large region is
noted for its deformity, with the source of this being a northeast southwest counterclockwise
compressive couple. The compressive couple was potentially supported through drag as a result of the
deep seated movement of rock material from the Pacific region (Hill Dibblee, 1953). The interaction
of the faults in the San Andreas region since the Jurassic period have served to shape and contour the
present geology of the land, while a study of the paleontology of the region likewise requires such
knowledge to effectively determine conditions at any given point in time.
Tectonic Stress and the San Andreas Fault According to Townend and Zoback (2004) the San Andreas
Fault (SAF) region has been noted for its possession of stress orientations in addition to the lack of a
distinct heat flow anomaly at the trace of the fault. These findings indicate that there are average shear
tractions that are less than 20 25 MPa in the seismogenic upper crust. Oftentimes, shear tractions
measure approximately 5 times greater than in the SAF. Due to the presence of high

Organ Pipe Coral Essay
Tubipora Musica Organ Pipe Coral The Organ Pipe Coral is a Anthazoa that is cessil. Organ pipe coral
can be found in the oceans of the indonesian islands and the Red Sea. It lives on soft sedimentary reef
slopes in shallow waters. It s shape consists of many tubes otherwise known as sclerites. Together, the
sclerites form the soft skeleton of the coral, giving a dark red to a bright red appearance. Polyps are
housed inside these tubes, and can be green, gray, and white, or other grayscale colors.
The life span of the coral starts when landing on a surface. It develops an outer skeleton, which in turn
protects and helps the organism grow. Once the mouth and stomach are formed in a dome shape, it
will continue to feed and grow to its adult stage, where sooner or later it reproduces, resetting the

It also requires Bright sun lights, which can explain the shallow habitat that it resides in. However,
these corals have been known to form a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae, a marine algae.
This algae, can provide the necessary nutrients that the coral requires to survive. Defence wise, the
coral really has no form of fighting back. This results in the coral being nipped at by other marine life,
or taking in the chemicals of other corals. In order to to reproduce, it has two options. It can reproduce
asexually by budding releasing an offshoot to attach to another surface, or it can reproduce sexually by
sending sperm into the open waters to find another Organ Pipe Coral. Reproducing asexually has it
ups and downs. Reproducing asexually is faster compared to sexually, however it is essentially a clone
and has no other genetically diverse attributes that it would otherwise. If reproducing sexually, it
consumes more time and energy to allow the offspring to have a more diverse genetic buildup

The American Dream Is Overrated Essay
The American Dream is overrated. Let s just face it, it is dead. Not only is this a dream that is almost
lusted after by many Americans, this is a widely desired illusion that is far out of reach for most
working class people. The American Dream is more than the lifestyle of white picket fences that hold
backyard barbecues with your neighbors. It s earning a living wage that creates a comfortable quality
of life, having the security of retirement, and giving your children the opportunity to live a successful
life. The American Dream doesn t run on magic and fairy dust, it is fueled by hard earned American
dollars, persistence, and hope. Most modern, working class families can t expect to receive a
reasonable income to cover things such as medical expenses and emergencies. With that said, the stay
at home parent trying to reach the goal of a perfect oasis is even more taboo. It s hard to achieve this
dream , when you re the only breadwinner in your household. Parents can no longer live comfortably,
and in some cases even survive, on one person s income. The costs of homes, transportation, and
education combined with incredibly low wages often leaves families in a crippling financial situation,
making it virtually impossible to, keep up with the Jones s. Speaking realistically, most people live in
the moment. We focus on things happening in our lives now. Life itself is a constant quest for
happiness and security in a world that is very often uncertain, and even

There s A Certain Slant Of Light
Emily Dickinson s poem There s a certain Slant of Light is a powerful reflection on the pain of
depression and other internal struggles. As a recluse, Dickinson most likely was familiar with these
feelings and conveys them in a way we can all relate to. Although cryptic at first, this poem
communicates many universal emotions as well as an insight into Dickinson s state of mind.
Stanza one opens with Dickinson referring to a certain Slant of light, Winter Afternoon . This light is
described in the rest of the work, although it is not the main idea. Dickinson capitalizes Slant and
Winter Afternoon to the characterize the setting. The Slant of the light refers to the time of day,
morning or evening, and Winter Afternoons describes the season

Is the term green logistics an oxymoron Essay
Is the Term Green Logistics an Oxymoron
Introduction
Over recent years there has been increasingly more pressure from the public and the government on
organisations to decrease the environmental impact of their logistics operations. The distribution of
products impairs air quailty, produces noise and vibration, causes motor vechicle accidents and
contributes significantly to global warming through greenhouse gas emmisions. The term green
logistics describes attempts by organisations to minimise the environmental impact of logistic
activities (Rodrigue, Slack and Comtois, 2001). Therefore, green logistics would imply
environmentally friendly and efficient transportation and distribution systems. The paradoxes of green
logistics make it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that green logistics can be achieved through the green procurement of environmentally
friendly vehicles as well as working with suppliers to improve their sustainability performance.
Reverse Logistics
Logisticians can also achieve green logistics through reverse logistics operations which is designed to
reuse products or dispose of them correctly, therefore reducing waste in the system. Rogers and
Tibben Lembke, (2001, p.130) define reverse logistics as the process of planning, implementing, and
controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of materials, in process inventory and finished goods, and
related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin, the purpose of recapturing
value or proper disposal . Efforts that reduce this reverse flow are considered part of reverse logistics
as they reduced the total amount of waste in the supply chain. Reverse logistics approaches include
returns management, product repair/refurbishment, recycling of products and materials as well as the
correct disposal of unwanted products. Figure 1 illustrates the product flow in reverse logistics and the
principles of reverse logistics i.e. substitute, reduce, recycle and reuse (Wu and Dunn, 1995). All these
reverse logistic approaches diminish the total quantity of waste in the supply chain and therefore can
be used by logisticians in order to achieve green logistics.

In What Ways Does Shakespeare Create Sympathy for Romeo...
During the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare manages to effectively depict the tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet s relationship. One way he achieves this is by creating sympathy for Romeo and Juliet,
which consequently affects the reader and audience of the play. Three ways in which Shakespeare is
able to create sympathy for them is through the general setting and plot structure, the language used,
and also the characterisation of Romeo and Juliet. From the very beginning of the play (in the
prologue), Shakespeare begins to create a sense of sympathy for Romeo and Juliet. Here, the audience
is told that these two lovers are star cross d meaning that their love goes against the stars and is
therefore doomed to end in disaster. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is from this rhyming, oxymoronic phrase that the audience can gage how this soft spoken man was
not a figure of hate in reality, but a loving man. Juliet s character is also contrasted to the frosty nature
of Tybalt and the rest of the Capulets she epitomises the innocence of their relationship. From the start
of Act 1 Scene 3, we learn from Lady Capulet that Juliet is still thirteen years old she s not fourteen .
From this, this audience can assume that she is still at that age of naivety and immaturity, again
showing that she does not belong in such a violent feud. Due to her age, Juliet evidently is a
vulnerable character and one that likely does not have the mental ability to make intelligent choices,
such as the decisions against her father s will to not marry Paris, but to secretly marry Romeo instead
a decision that was to become a key factor in both Romeo and Juliet s death. In addition, Shakespeare
creates sympathy for Juliet through her innocence and good will. Her innocence and good will which
is left worthless as she is left in a situation she cannot to anything about a situation revealed in the
prologue as being one that is fated to end tragically. Throughout the play, Shakespeare uses many
different methods to enable the reader to feel sympathetic towards Romeo and Juliet. The various plot
twists provide a dramatic

Legalization Of Marijuana And The State Of Arizona
Legalization of Marijuana in Arizona The Legalization of Marijuana in the state of Arizona has been
under fire for the past several years. Ever since 2010 when Prop 203, which called the right to have a
medical marijuana card in the state, arose it caused a stir in society on which to allow marijuana to be
legal. The ballot for the state is set in November and as we approach the deadline many people are
coming out with their takes on the issue. The legalization of marijuana has many positive and negative
effects on society that make it a tough decision for many voters. Marijuana has been a commonly used
medication for thousands of years, the oldest written record of the use of marijuana is 2727 B.C.E. in
china, up until 2003 when marijuana was classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance by the
Controlled Substance Act which prohibited use and sale of the substance. This act caused major
controversy and sparked many scientific experiments that are still going on today to try to understand
the drug. The legalization of marijuana in other states has increased access to and acceptability of this
drug for both medicinal and recreational purposes. In the absence of well designed research and FDA
approval, this creates unique challenges for both practitioners and regulators alike. Doctors are being
pressured to recommend medical marijuana based off of the requests of the users. The regulations that
have been put on marijuana are extremely loose fitting and hard to control

Metaphors of Organizations
Metaphors of Organizations
All theories of organization and management are based on implicit images or metaphors that persuade
us to see, understand, and imagine situations in partial ways. Metaphors create insight. But they also
distort. They have strengths. But they also have limitations. In creating ways of seeing, they create
ways of not seeing. Hence there can be no single theory or metaphor that gives an all purpose point of
view. There can be no correct theory for structuring everything we do.

Are Hacksaws As Productive As Band Saws
1. Does the force or torque in drilling change as the hole depth increases? Explain. How then, would
you then change the feeds and speeds as the hole depth increases?
Generally, as the hole depth increases, the force or torque in drilling also increases because as the
depth increases, the surface contact area will also increase which increases the required force to drill
the hole. Therefore, it increases the required torque. As the hole depth increase, the feed and speed
reduce because the drill experience higher stress as the depth increase compared to the stress at
shallow holes. These stresses caused torque to increase with the increasing chances of failure. So, to
compensate the chances of failure, the feeds and speed needed to be reduced. ... Show more content on

Use Of Pictographs Can Improve Cross Cultural Communication
Pictographs
Moreover, the use of pictographs can improve cross cultural communication. Pictograms is a visual
language aim to establish the most important type of communication using visual language to
transcending language barriers. For instance, it was stated, Languages allow us to communicate with
each other in a relatively effortless way because they rely on many types of conventions (e.g.,
morphological, syntactic, semantic, phonetic) (Nakamura Zeng Treitler, 2012, p. 535). It is a language
that enables the essential meaning to be understood visually at a glance, irrespective of differences of
cultural or language.
In additional, pictograms is use in the Medical Health industry to improve the communication with
people who speak different languages. To emphasize, it was stated, As a universal language to
communicate with people speaking different languages, pictographs can be an efficient tool to
improve healthcare education for this underserved population (Choi, 2011). Pictograph is a powerful
tool to use for cross cultural communication.
Furthermore, the ability to have and create pictograph will enhance cross cultural communication. For
instance, as it was stated, There is a good chance that pictographs created using a combination of
representation strategies may yield higher recognition rates. (Choi, 2011) The combination of
pictographs and communication will improve the language barriers in cross cultural communication.

So we are wondering how the move of AMD can be effective, yield commercially viable and by what
means?
1. What would it take for AMD to see a significant increase in its market share in processors used in
corporate desktops and notebooks? How can the success of Opteron in the server segment be
leveraged to other segments?
Before coming back on the success of Opteron , AMD s product range in the server segment, we have
to explain the history of the company and what leads AMD to launch this new innovative and
disruptive product line in 2003.
For years, AMD held the place of a distant follower of the large microprocessor market leader, Intel.
Up to there, the competitor Intel led the market (with a push strategy) by creating consumer needs
thanks to technological innovations. Those were linked with strong marketing campaign in order to
facilitate a quicker adoption process of their new product line. However, in 2003, AMD change its
traditional strategy to use a widely different one by switching into a blue ocean strategy. Indeed, AMD
has changed course to become a starter firm. AMD has decided to launch at first its own brand server
microprocessor range, called Opteron before one of Intel. At this moment, the firm made the decision
to initiate the moves of server segment and therefore take heavier risks in term of investments, sales,
pushing partners

The Death Of A Blind Patient
As I walked by the medical unit in St Vincent s Hospital, I was told by a doctor to help watch an
elderly man. When I timidly stuck my head into the room, the doctor asked me not to let the man
leave. I entered and stood by the bed. Who s this? an old man in his sixties asked. I asked if I could
have a sit in order to know more about him. The friendly old man agreed, smiling and introduced
himself as Pat. I looked at his walking stick, unblinking eyes and finally asked, If you don t mind me
asking, are you errr.... blind? I was a third year medical student, who was only taught basic history
taking and physical examination according to systems, but I do not know what to expect from a blind
patient.
The old man laughed, a bit amused and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can t use my eyes to see, but I use my heart to feel. Beauty lies in the mind of the beholder to be
precise, so one doesn t need eyes to see beauty. He asked me to look outside. I felt the warmth of the
rare appearance of sun in Dublin on my face and it felt good.
The truth is Pat lost his eyesight in an accident 30 years ago. At first he couldn t accept the fact and
even tried to commit suicide. His attempt failed and he realised that he had been given a second
chance by the help of doctors. Now he was admitted for a heart valve condition, and he was very keen
to be treated, so he can always use his heart to feel . Medically, heart plays an important role, pumping
blood and all, but to some people, it s something more. This was my first patient contact experience,
aside from passing pills and getting tissues. As I got pass my intimidated phase, I realised seeing the
patient as human in need of companionship and understanding, is part of what makes one a doctor.
That was a year ago, the last 2 weeks of my pre clinical studies in UCD, where I got the opportunity to
experience clinical practice in the hospital. I had just concluded my pre clinical stage and was still
oblivious to what is ahead. In the short two weeks exposure in the hospital, I got to play doctor, nurse
and best friend to some of the patients. I had the opportunity to shadow doctors through the medical
departments, to watch doctors take histories and listened to heart murmurs

Cotton From 1850-1860
Factors that influenced the increased production of cotton from 1800s to the 1860s was different
resources, demand, and advanced technology.
To begin with, natural, human, and capital resources played a huge role in the growth of cotton
production. Land was a very essential natural resource to cotton farmers. With fertile land, farmers
could grow their big business, cotton. Also, because of land, the number of cotton farms in America
began to increase greatly. For instance, in Texas, cotton farms grew an astounding 251.6% from 1850
1860. An important human resource that helped increase cotton manufacture was slaves. Slaves were
needed to pick and plant cotton as it was a long and tedious job. From 1800 1860, the amount of
slaves increased 342% and by 1860, the slave population amounted to over 3 million (Davidson, 388).
Money and profit was a very imperative capital resource. After farmers collected their profits, they
would buy more slaves, land, and machinery in hopes of improving their cotton business and growing
more cotton (Davidson, 388 389). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The growth of the textile industry in Britain boosted the cotton sales in America. Textile industry was
dependent on cotton and 75% of their cotton came from farms in the South(Dattel). The demand of
cloth also affected the demand of cotton. The North needed cotton for their cloth and textile industry
after it grew during the Industrial Revolution(Dattel). The War of 1812 caused Americans to start
creating their own industries and goods after Britain cut off vital goods out of the United States. In this
period of time, there was a huge demand for cotton as American citizens standard of living grew.
Since there was a huge demand, farmers made a large profit. (Davidson, 312 and

Effects Of Birth Control
Birth Control: Health Effects.
Every year at least 1 out of 5 pregnancies are unplanned, birth control is used to prevent unwanted
pregnancies it has been a concerned for humans for many years. There are many types of birth
controls, one of the most common one is combination pill which is used for many purposes. One way
combination pill is used is to stop ovulation due to the hormones that it produces which are estrogen,
and progesterone. These two hormones control the entire process when it comes to the menstrual
cycle, estrogen regulate the menstrual cycle meanwhile progesterone thickens the lining of the uterus

lowered to allow the lining of the uterus to thicken. The ratio rises during the second half of the cycle
to allow the normal shedding of the lining of the uterus to occur. Meanwhile everything remains the
same throughout the third category.
It has been said that when birth control pills are taking correctly they are up to 99 percent effective,9

have some pros and cons, one of my closest friend doctor prescribed her birth control pills to regulate

more firms exhibit characteristics similar to those of non dividend paying firms), Fama and French
nonetheless report that once they control for these characteristics, they still find a significant decline in
the residual propensity to pay dividends. This evidence poses a further challenge to dividend theories
in so far as candidate theories should be able to explain time series changes in the propensity to pay
dividends. We extend this literature by examining cross sectional and time series evidence on the
propensity to pay dividends in several developed financial markets the United States (U.S.), Canada,
the United Kingdom (U.K.), Germany, France, and Japan over the period 1989 to 2002. Specifically,
we examine (i) whether the characteristics of dividend payers and nonpayers are common across
countries; (ii) whether these characteristics have changed over time; and (iii) whether firms in other
countries exhibit a declining propensity to pay dividends in recent years. In addition, the use of
international data allows us to provide further tests of the life cycle, signaling, clientele, and catering
explanations by analyzing the concentration of dividend payments as well as the association between
Baker and Wurgler s (2004a,b) dividend premium and the propensity to pay dividends in other
countries. Our evidence reveals common determinants of dividends across countries. Like Fama and

Publix earned a whopping 1.3 billion dollars. That was 15.2% better than the year before. Total annual

They increased from $1.47 per share to $1.70. It is noted that Publix boosted profits came from
reducing costs by becoming more efficient, brand recognition, and focusing on customer service. That
probably helped them gain the competitive edge over Wal Mart and Winn Dixie. Publix made sure to
focus on the customer experience, over cleanliness of the store, and focusing on product quality.
Publix made sure to focus on areas where Wal Mart and Winn Dixie would be weak. Wal Mart has

What Is The Dramatic Change In Pay It Forward
Clermondo Erisme Pay It Forward In the movie , Pay It Forward , a new idea that would bring change

Simonet shows difficult opening up to people and letting them know what makes him tick. As seen

After certain moral lessons were taught these characters began to exhibit qualities that they ve never

heart up to others like Arlene and Trevor. Another dramatic change is Arlene because in the beginning
it seemed like she was missing the control of her life that she needed and everything just walked all
over her which led her to drink excessively. When she finally fixed her moral compass she changed
her self and he attitude towards life. Arlene dumped her abusive husband, regained connections with
her mother, settled down with Eugene, and repaired the bond between her and Trevor.Jerry at first had
shown that life had beat him down and he had no chance of getting back up. When Trevor offered him
that opportunity he needed he took it and tried to make a change with his life but ended up going back
to drugs. It wasn t until he met a woman on the verge of suicide that he realized that he needed to

1). Panera s competitors, such as McDonald s and Starbucks so not cater. This should be something
they market to the consumers more. Catering would expand the kinds of buyers (ex. 1) such as
business, families, schools, which would grow Panera s market segment rapidly. Consumer s
preferences are constantly changing in this industry (ex. 3). Offering more services, such as catering,
is a way to catch the consumers interest. With a growth rate of 26 percent in 2010 for Panera s catering
proves that a new segment is being targeted. Panera needs to reach more consumers through
advertising, commercials, and incentives. We recommend Panera starts with the health factor as our
analysis indicates in the SWOT analysis of opportunities (ex. 10). Panera s catering should also
market incentives. If consumers have an incentive, such as first order 20% off, they would be more
willing to try new restaurants. The online Panera catering website will grow the market segment
because technology is rapidly growing and more and more competitors will expand to forming a
internet presence. In order to meet financial objective of 15 to 20 percent we recommend taking these
steps to capitalize on catering. With the help of the key success factors, driving forces, dominant
economic characteristics, SWOT analysis and weighted competitive strength analysis, we provide

Shakespeare s Timeless Love Story Retold in Film Essay
He was not of an age, but for all time! , described Ben Jonson in regards to Shakespeare (qtd. in
Chrisp 62). As research proves, there is no doubt to the truth of this statement. Adding to Jonson s
words in regards to Shakespeare s timelessness Peter Chrisp explains that there have been more than
500 film and TV adaptations of Shakespeare s dramas (Chrisp 65; Mabillard). Furthermore, in the
introduction to Gnomeo and Juliet, a Red Good Gnome says, The story we are about to tell has been

Some of the most dramatic films inspired by Romeo and Juliet directly used Shakespeare s sonnets in
the films. First of all 1936 brought MGM s black and white Romeo and Juliet produced by Irving G.
Thalberg. On the good side, the film was unbelievably luxurious and authentic, spending close to the
equivalent of $80 million dollars (Rosenthal 122). Sadly the young lovers could not be accurately
portrayed by the well aged actors of 35 and 43 years (Rosenthal 122). As the 19th century continued,
Franco Zeffirelli directed his highly successful 1968 Romeo and Juliet in full color (Zeffirelli, Romeo
and Juliet ). Contradicting the 1938 rendition, he chose actors almost as young as their characters with
17 year old Leonard Whiting as Romeo and 15 year old Olivia Hussey as Juliet (Rosenthal 128).
Despite the controversial wedding scene nudity, in addition to some minor changes in Shakespeare s
words, the film was still highly successful (Rosenthal 128). Finally in 1996 came the film William
Shakespeare s Romeo + Juliet. Using Shakespeare s verse in a modern 1990s Miami like Verona
Beach, Baz Luhrmann, the director, stated, We wanted to look at how Shakespeare would ve made a
movie if he were here today (qtd. in Rosenthal 130). Luhrmann s truly stunning couple is played by

The Relationship Between Sadism And Its Effects On Children
Sadism is defined as the derivation of sexual pleasure from the infliction of pain, suffering and/or
humiliation upon another person. The pain and suffering of the victim, which may be both physical
and psychological, is pivotal to the sexual arousal and pleasure. According to Bernard (1933) sadism
hence represents a pathological intensification of the masculine mental character. Characteristics of
sadism according to DSM IV (2000) is as follows: having over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent,
intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving acts (real, not simulated) in
which the psychological or physical suffering including humiliation of the victim is sexually exciting
to the person, as well as the person has acted on these urges with a non consenting person, or the
sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty. Introduction Sexual sadism
is noticed primarily in males and generally starts with puberty, in spite of the fact that sadistic
behavior may be manifested prematurely in children. In all male cases, it becomes obvious by early
adulthood. According to Hucker (2009), sexual sadism may start off with fantasies and, in some cases,
these may never be acted upon or, be acted out in the more mild forms of consensual relationships. In
non consensual cases, the behavior usually continues and often escalates over time as the perpetrator
experiences a need for increased violence in order to stimulate the

Effect Of The On A Sport Event
Firstly, he depicts the multiplier used by each of the impact studies. A multiplier is a coefficient, which
displays the multiplier effect on the economy when visitors spend money on a sport event. The money
spent in the host community will launch a ripple effect, thus converting the direct impact of the
spending into indirect and induced impacts on the economy. A higher multiplier suggests, that more of
the initial injection of money into the economy stays within without leaking out of the local economy.
Consequently a higher multiplier leads to a higher economic impact (Crompton 1995). An example of
how the multiplier works is shown in Figure 2. The figure assumes that visitors spend $10.000 due to
the sport franchise, at four different establishments. The hotel serves as an example for how these
establishments further distribute the initial injection of money. The money that stays within the local
economy is spent in the same five ways over and over as successive rounds of spending occur
(Crompton 1995).

Figure 2: How the multiplier concept operates (Source: (Crompton 1995))
Authors of a community guide to tourism development cited by Crompton (1995) suggest that 90% to
95% of U.S. county income multipliers lie between 1.4 and 1.8. Several of
Crompton s found misapplications alter the multiplier directly, such as using the sales instead of the
income multiplier or using the incremental rather than the normal approach to derive the coefficient of
the multiplier. Both

The Economic Crisis Is the Greater Challenge than...
Globalization (a process) centers on improving the efficiency and speed that economies interact and
transform interconnectivity between sovereign nations political, social and economic cultures. For
centuries, globalized improvements in infrastructure (communication, economies, trade, and ideas)
have allowed sovereigns to improve interdependence with others. This essay will present why the
economic crisis, a global issue, is the greater challenge than pandemics to U.S. national interest.
Regarding pandemic challenges, the U.S. has among the world s best health care. The ability of the
Center for Disease Control (CDC) to respond to pandemics is better than any other nation. Over the
last 100 years, influenza pandemics have been among the leading cause of infectious deaths.
Technological advances have expanded understanding of complex pandemics and have improved our
ability to contain outbreaks or manipulate micro genomes. Caution should be considered as the same
scientific knowledge can be deliberately misused.
The U.S. works with countries, addressing infectious diseases that slow socioeconomic and
democratic development, as well as the humanitarian emergencies and civil conflicts that pandemics
contribute to. Infectious disease related embargoes and restrictions on travel and immigration can
cause economic frictions among sovereign states. Deployed U.S. military personnel will be at low to
moderate risk from pandemics yet, at the highest risk while deployed in

The Potential Transformative Power of Education in...
For those whose lives are the most controlled and exploited by systems of domination, the potential

  • 3. Loueberry Lake Essay We found that the limiting nutrient in Loughberry Lake is phosphorous. The most natural way that phosphorous enters aquatic systems, is through the cycling and erosion of phosphorous rich rocks and sediments. The phosphorous cycle takes a long time to complete, but through human processes such as mining and runoff, phosphorous is able to enter our water sources much more quickly. There is also a small amount of deposition that may occur from the atmosphere to the water. The most common human source of phosphorous is urban and agricultural runoff. (Mahaney, Wendy. September 22...) In Saratoga Springs there is a concentration of residential and urban infrastructure, which is a source of runoff into Loughberry Lake and other surrounding waters. Fertilizers and manure also contain high amounts of phosphorous, and tend to be the key culprits in phosphorous runoff (Mahaney, Wendy. September 22...). The limiting nutrient in a water source is what controls algal growth, no mater how much other nutrients is present, without that nutrient there will be no growth. In this regard it is imperative to know what the limiting resource is in a drinking water system in order to maintain the health of the system. Since phosphorous is naturally found in small quantities in water, if too much phosphorous is present then algal growth will increase. Having such high levels of algal growth can dramatically affect the lake s health, and can effect how a municipal government must treat its water. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Symbolism In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The Setting of a Dream In the story, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the setting is used as symbolism and portrays the differences between the natural world and life on the ranch. Many particular phrases and objects foreshadow important events throughout the novel. Using imagery, Steinbeck demonstrates the contrast between the world on the ranch and natural world. The nature of the forest, river, and certain setting descriptions creates a deeper meaning that relates to many of the themes in the story. To begin, the river is used to symbolize the dreams and goals of humanity. The river separates two worlds from touching: On one side, there are beautiful rolling hills and strong mountains. But, on the other side, The water is lined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People who have wandered through the forest have stopped to reflect under the sycamore trees. The trees were once new, beautiful, and young. However, throughout time, many people have come and sat under the tree: and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs... and underneath the tree there is an ash pile made by many fires (1 2). The unfortunate mark of humanity is left on the tree. On the other hand, the invitation extended by the trees is accepted by travelers who long to accomplish their dream. In the end, Lennie returns to the river when the light is turning dark. The dreams can no longer be seen. The sycamore trees start to turn up their silver sides, the brown, dry leaves on the ground scudded a few feet. And row on row of tiny wind waves flowed up the pool s green surface (99). The final decision that George makes completely blinds him from his goal. When he walks away with Slim, he is returning to the world on the ranch. George abandons the hope extended by the natural world. He leaves the beauty serenity, and innocence of nature. He loses sight of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Structural Causes Of The 1979 Iranian Revolution 1979 Iranian Revolution In the eyes of many Iranians, the Iranian Revolution started before 1979. After the 1953 coup driven by the U.K and U.S ( specifically the C.I.A) the well liked prime minister Dr. Mossadeq was arrested. Reinstated in Mossadeq s place was Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, AKA the Shah. The 1979 Revolution was then led by Ayatollah Khomeini who found many problems with the Shah s rule of Iran, beginning with the Shah s reform program. Key drivers of the 1979 Revolution were Iranians growing frustration with economic inequality, the Shah s suppression of political opposition and widespread resentment of the government s close ties to the United States and Britain. After the 1953 coup, the Shah administration caused an economic split ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Shah s use of the SAVAK is described in War and Peace: The Middle East in Transition by Ali Ansari. August 19, 1978, the SAVAK burned down Rex Cinema in Abadan with 400 people in it. The anger and grief that resulted from this event inspired even more people to riot and protest. Then on September 8, 1978, police opened fire on people of the working class and university students that were demonstrating in Tehran square. Over 100 people died as well as 400 other people suffered injuries from this event dubbed Black Friday . This unacceptable use of police force to suffice political opposition explains why the people of Iran became so angered with the Shah. In The Last Empress, by Elaine Sciolino, a interview takes place with Farah Pahlavi. In the interview, the Shah s third wife, Farah Pahlavi admits that some of the SAVAK agents went too far in killing the Shah s political opposition. This sheds further light on the extremes that the Shah went to, to keep his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduced as a conqueror...greater than any other beneath the sun, Thesëus, the wise and chivalrous lord Athens, is a merciful and noble duke (Chaucer 24). As a wise and noble leader, Thesëus, with a heart of pity, mends the ailments of his people, as he [is] a true knight. (26). How does Theseus treat the mourning women who ask for help against the tyrant Creon? Thesëus mercifully agrees to to get vengeance on the tyrant Creon, who [set] his dogs to eat the women s husbands instead of burying them. What is the situation of each knight at the close of Part One? What formal question is asked at the end of the first part of the Knight s Tale? At the end of part one, Arcita leaves for Thebes, exiled forever from Athens and distraught over never seeing his love again, while Palamon still lies in prison, desolate without the company of his cousin, but still able to regale at the sight of Emily. The question Who has the worse, Arcita or Palamon? allows the mind to wonder which fate is worse? Never seeing your beloved, but living as a freeman, or imprisoned till death, but able to see the face or your love. 8. Provide evidence for any two characteristics of a romance evident so far. Refer to the prezi. A romance requires the telling of a true story in remote places and times. The Knight s Tale begins with the lines Once upon a time, to retell the old events of Theseus in the ancient city of Athens (24). The Knight s tale meets the requirement of a medieval romance in the first sentence, as it opens with a tale of a far off land in ancient times. • 7. West Hendon Regeneration Scheme The London Borough of Barnet Council sought to acquire the subject land, and the new rights over it, in order to facilitate the regeneration of the West Hendon Estate and its immediate surroundings. The scheme aims to provide; up to 2,000 residential dwellings, a new primary school, a community facility, commercial units, and improved infrastructure in the area. The proposal is intended to provide significant social, economic and environmental improvements for existing residents (The London Borough of Barnet Council, 2014). It is to be delivered by Barratt Metropolitan LLP, a partnership of Barratt London and Metropolitan Housing Trust, forming part of the wider Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration area, although being progressed independently. The West Hendon regeneration scheme was identified in 2001 when the Decent Homes programme required local authorities to offer residents a certain standard of housing. The West Hendon estate failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration would be the best way to achieve these. The Council s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent Homes Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing buildings within the Estate. The required area of land was defined and referenced as to land ownership and occupation. The scheme has been split into development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This continuum begins with bacteremia, which is the presence of bacteria in the blood. Normally the body s immune system can fight off a localized infection caused by a small amount of bacteria in the blood and the person will remain asymptomatic. However, a hospitalized patient could be immunocompromised, have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The systemic inflammatory response is the next step in the continuum and is a nonspecific inflammatory state that may be seen with an infection. Sepsis is the presence of the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) with evidence of infection. As the bacteria invade the bloodstream, they release endotoxins that damage the endothelial cell lining and impair the vascular system, coagulation mechanism, and immune system. These endotoxins also trigger the immune and inflammatory responses, which results in the activation of macrophages and CD4 cells that release proinflammatory cytokines to create a systemic inflammatory response to the pathogen. Hospitalized patients may quickly progress from bacteremia to sepsis and finally to septic shock, even with treatment. 2. What are the risk factors for infection and development of septic shock? Identify those that applied to Mr. Roberts. (5 points) Risk factors for infection can be anything that suppresses the ability of the host to resist the infectious pathogen, including the following: drugs, such as steroids and chemotherapy; disorders that affect the innate and adaptive immune responses, such as cancer, leukopenia, and HIV/AIDS; and a breakdown of the first line of defense, such a trauma, broken skin, or surgical wounds. • 9. The Big Pine, Garlock, And San Andreas Fault The three faults being considered are thought to have influenced the character of some 120,000 square miles. The Big Pine, Garlock, and San Andreas faults are all mutually active, deep, long, and steep and noted as being conjugate shears. In concert, the faults have defined a primary strain pattern of relative east west extension and north south shortening of the area of 120,000 square miles. The large region is noted for its deformity, with the source of this being a northeast southwest counterclockwise compressive couple. The compressive couple was potentially supported through drag as a result of the deep seated movement of rock material from the Pacific region (Hill Dibblee, 1953). The interaction of the faults in the San Andreas region since the Jurassic period have served to shape and contour the present geology of the land, while a study of the paleontology of the region likewise requires such knowledge to effectively determine conditions at any given point in time. Tectonic Stress and the San Andreas Fault According to Townend and Zoback (2004) the San Andreas Fault (SAF) region has been noted for its possession of stress orientations in addition to the lack of a distinct heat flow anomaly at the trace of the fault. These findings indicate that there are average shear tractions that are less than 20 25 MPa in the seismogenic upper crust. Oftentimes, shear tractions measure approximately 5 times greater than in the SAF. Due to the presence of high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organ pipe coral can be found in the oceans of the indonesian islands and the Red Sea. It lives on soft sedimentary reef slopes in shallow waters. Polyps are housed inside these tubes, and can be green, gray, and white, or other grayscale colors. The life span of the coral starts when landing on a surface. Not only is this a dream that is almost lusted after by many Americans, this is a widely desired illusion that is far out of reach for most working class people. The American Dream is more than the lifestyle of white picket fences that hold backyard barbecues with your neighbors. It s earning a living wage that creates a comfortable quality of life, having the security of retirement, and giving your children the opportunity to live a successful life. The American Dream doesn t run on magic and fairy dust, it is fueled by hard earned American dollars, persistence, and hope. Is the term green logistics an oxymoron Essay Is the Term Green Logistics an Oxymoron Introduction Over recent years there has been increasingly more pressure from the public and the government on organisations to decrease the environmental impact of their logistics operations. The distribution of products impairs air quailty, produces noise and vibration, causes motor vechicle accidents and contributes significantly to global warming through greenhouse gas emmisions. The term green logistics describes attempts by organisations to minimise the environmental impact of logistic activities (Rodrigue, Slack and Comtois, 2001). Reverse Logistics Logisticians can also achieve green logistics through reverse logistics operations which is designed to reuse products or dispose of them correctly, therefore reducing waste in the system. Rogers and Tibben Lembke, (2001, p.130) define reverse logistics as the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of materials, in process inventory and finished goods, and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin, the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal . Efforts that reduce this reverse flow are considered part of reverse logistics as they reduced the total amount of waste in the supply chain. Reverse logistics approaches include returns management, product repair/refurbishment, recycling of products and materials as well as the correct disposal of unwanted products. Figure 1 illustrates the product flow in reverse logistics and the principles of reverse logistics i.e. substitute, reduce, recycle and reuse (Wu and Dunn, 1995). One way he achieves this is by creating sympathy for Romeo and Juliet, which consequently affects the reader and audience of the play. Three ways in which Shakespeare is able to create sympathy for them is through the general setting and plot structure, the language used, and also the characterisation of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet s character is also contrasted to the frosty nature of Tybalt and the rest of the Capulets she epitomises the innocence of their relationship. From the start of Act 1 Scene 3, we learn from Lady Capulet that Juliet is still thirteen years old she s not fourteen . From this, this audience can assume that she is still at that age of naivety and immaturity, again showing that she does not belong in such a violent feud. Due to her age, Juliet evidently is a vulnerable character and one that likely does not have the mental ability to make intelligent choices, such as the decisions against her father s will to not marry Paris, but to secretly marry Romeo instead a decision that was to become a key factor in both Romeo and Juliet s death. In addition, Shakespeare creates sympathy for Juliet through her innocence and good will. Her innocence and good will which is left worthless as she is left in a situation she cannot to anything about a situation revealed in the prologue as being one that is fated to end tragically. The ballot for the state is set in November and as we approach the deadline many people are coming out with their takes on the issue. How then, would you then change the feeds and speeds as the hole depth increases? Generally, as the hole depth increases, the force or torque in drilling also increases because as the depth increases, the surface contact area will also increase which increases the required force to drill the hole. Therefore, it increases the required torque. As the hole depth increase, the feed and speed reduce because the drill experience higher stress as the depth increase compared to the stress at shallow holes. These stresses caused torque to increase with the increasing chances of failure. So, to compensate the chances of failure, the feeds and speed needed to be reduced. ... They increased from $1.47 per share to $1.70. It is noted that Publix boosted profits came from reducing costs by becoming more efficient, brand recognition, and focusing on customer service. That probably helped them gain the competitive edge over Wal Mart and Winn Dixie. Publix made sure to focus on the customer experience, over cleanliness of the store, and focusing on product quality. Publix made sure to focus on areas where Wal Mart and Winn Dixie would be weak. Wal Mart has now introduced around 120 Neighborhood Markets supermarket sized store that intended to compete with the likes of Publix they are far less profitable than its traditional, larger stores. As research proves, there is no doubt to the truth of this statement. Adding to Jonson s words in regards to Shakespeare s timelessness Peter Chrisp explains that there have been more than 500 film and TV adaptations of Shakespeare s dramas (Chrisp 65; Mabillard). Furthermore, in the introduction to Gnomeo and Juliet, a Red Good Gnome says, The story we are about to tell has been told before... a lot (Asbury, Gnomeo Juliet ). As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the most dramatic films inspired by Romeo and Juliet directly used Shakespeare s sonnets in the films. First of all 1936 brought MGM s black and white Romeo and Juliet produced by Irving G. Thalberg. On the good side, the film was unbelievably luxurious and authentic, spending close to the equivalent of $80 million dollars (Rosenthal 122). Sadly the young lovers could not be accurately portrayed by the well aged actors of 35 and 43 years (Rosenthal 122). As the 19th century continued, Franco Zeffirelli directed his highly successful 1968 Romeo and Juliet in full color (Zeffirelli, Romeo and Juliet ). Contradicting the 1938 rendition, he chose actors almost as young as their characters with 17 year old Leonard Whiting as Romeo and 15 year old Olivia Hussey as Juliet (Rosenthal 128). Despite the controversial wedding scene nudity, in addition to some minor changes in Shakespeare s words, the film was still highly successful (Rosenthal 128). Finally in 1996 came the film William Shakespeare s Romeo + Juliet. Using Shakespeare s verse in a modern 1990s Miami like Verona Beach, Baz Luhrmann, the director, stated, We wanted to look at how Shakespeare would ve made a movie if he were here today (qtd. in Rosenthal 130). • 33. The Relationship Between Sadism And Its Effects On Children Sadism is defined as the derivation of sexual pleasure from the infliction of pain, suffering and/or humiliation upon another person. The pain and suffering of the victim, which may be both physical and psychological, is pivotal to the sexual arousal and pleasure. According to Bernard (1933) sadism hence represents a pathological intensification of the masculine mental character. Characteristics of sadism according to DSM IV (2000) is as follows: having over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving acts (real, not simulated) in which the psychological or physical suffering including humiliation of the victim is sexually exciting to the person, as well as the person has acted on these urges with a non consenting person, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty. Introduction Sexual sadism is noticed primarily in males and generally starts with puberty, in spite of the fact that sadistic behavior may be manifested prematurely in children. In all male cases, it becomes obvious by early adulthood. According to Hucker (2009), sexual sadism may start off with fantasies and, in some cases, these may never be acted upon or, be acted out in the more mild forms of consensual relationships. In non consensual cases, the behavior usually continues and often escalates over time as the perpetrator experiences a need for increased violence in order to stimulate the ... • 34. Effect Of The On A Sport Event Firstly, he depicts the multiplier used by each of the impact studies. A multiplier is a coefficient, which displays the multiplier effect on the economy when visitors spend money on a sport event. The money spent in the host community will launch a ripple effect, thus converting the direct impact of the spending into indirect and induced impacts on the economy. A higher multiplier suggests, that more of the initial injection of money into the economy stays within without leaking out of the local economy. Consequently a higher multiplier leads to a higher economic impact (Crompton 1995). An example of how the multiplier works is shown in Figure 2. The figure assumes that visitors spend $10.000 due to the sport franchise, at four different establishments. The hotel serves as an example for how these establishments further distribute the initial injection of money. The money that stays within the local economy is spent in the same five ways over and over as successive rounds of spending occur (Crompton 1995). 10 Figure 2: How the multiplier concept operates (Source: (Crompton 1995)) Authors of a community guide to tourism development cited by Crompton (1995) suggest that 90% to 95% of U.S. county income multipliers lie between 1.4 and 1.8. Several of Crompton s found misapplications alter the multiplier directly, such as using the sales instead of the income multiplier or using the incremental rather than the normal approach to derive the coefficient of the multiplier. Globalization (a process) centers on improving the efficiency and speed that economies interact and transform interconnectivity between sovereign nations political, social and economic cultures. For centuries, globalized improvements in infrastructure (communication, economies, trade, and ideas) have allowed sovereigns to improve interdependence with others. This essay will present why the economic crisis, a global issue, is the greater challenge than pandemics to U.S. national interest. Regarding pandemic challenges, the U.S. has among the world s best health care. The ability of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to respond to pandemics is better than any other nation. Over the last 100 years, influenza pandemics have been among the leading cause of infectious deaths. Technological advances have expanded understanding of complex pandemics and have improved our ability to contain outbreaks or manipulate micro genomes. Caution should be considered as the same scientific knowledge can be deliberately misused. The U.S. works with countries, addressing infectious diseases that slow socioeconomic and democratic development, as well as the humanitarian emergencies and civil conflicts that pandemics contribute to. Infectious disease related embargoes and restrictions on travel and immigration can cause economic frictions among sovereign states. Deployed U.S. military personnel will be at low to moderate risk from pandemics yet, at the highest risk while deployed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For those whose lives are the most controlled and exploited by systems of domination, the potential for a critical re imagining of pedagogy is an unknown myth of academia. Philosophers and college students extol the transformative potential of education. Rarely, however, do their accolades manifest as tangible action in the ghettoes, slums, and cities of America. Nevertheless, these archetypal zones of exclusion have seen their share of new educational movements. Magnet and charter schools, increased community involvement, and innovative extracurricular programs all carry significant potential for breaking past the omnipresent economic boundaries which masquerade as intellectual impasses.
