• A tool to help the teacher deliver the lesson (Neer, 2014)
• Helps facilitate learning
• Equipment/machinery
• Lowtech tools, such as pen and paper or worksheets,to high-
tech tools, such as blogs and mobile devices (Davidson-
Shivers & Hulon, 2013)
5 FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN SELECTING
CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY (TSCHIRGI, 2009)
1. Students achievement goals
Use technology to improve performance and achieving outcomes
Examples:
graphing calculators and probeware - visually enrich lessons and
provide immediate feedback in math and science courses
document cameras, interactive whiteboards, software and
websites for improving literacy skills and reading

2. Budget consideration - Check funding sources and
availability.
3. Equitable access – all must access current and emerging
technologies and digital resources.
4. Classroom conditions – consider the capacity of the
classroom.Make sure there is enough or consider the ratio. Like
one computer for 10 students. Check the location and electrical
sources.

PRINCIPLES OF TECHNOLOGY USE (WEEBLY)
1. Know your students - conduct needs assessment. Helps the
teacher decide which and how much technology will be use.
2. Choose materials that fit the students in terms of learning
potential and literacy level.
3. Students working with technology – there is shift from teacher-
centered to student centered. It promotes discovery learning
and learner autonomy.
