Space Invaders In The 1970 s
1970 s
After looking around for an iconic game in this era there were only a few choices and I chose Space
Invaders. Space invaders was first released in 1978 on arcade machines. I chose this game because
when you think about top arcade games in history this would most people s top 5. This game should
be known in the history of gaming because it was the first Japanese game to do so well in America
even though there were a few before it. In just 4 years in America it made $2 billion (Peckham, n.d.).
However it wasn t just the American market it was doing so well back in Japan there was a nationwide
shortage of 100 yen coins because the game was being played by so many people in Japan (Edwards,
n.d.). It inspired space themed games not to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Final fantasy was released in 1987 by the company square (which would later merge with a company
called Enix and become the company that is well known now Square Enix). However it didn t hit the
US markets until 1990. It came out on the Nintendo entertainment system (NES for short). I chose this
game because this game franchise is the reason I and expect many people love RPG s. Also this game
is also regarded as the most successful and influential RPG to be played on the NES. This game is the
reason why the company square didn t go bankrupt due it overwhelming popularity. It was called final
fantasy as the company thought it was going to be the last game they made little did they know it was
the reason the company didn t go under (Thomas, n.d.). It also increased the sales of the NES because
if you loved RPG games which a lot of people do the only place you could play it was the NES. This
game is just the first of long line of successful games (Final Fantasy series). It also helped cement
making the RPG genre more popular. The game is a turn based role playing game. Where when you
are battling against enemies you have to take turns in fighting not both fighting at the same time. At
the time the graphics of the game were met with overwhelming praise as well as the soundtrack that
accompanied the game. In the game you play as four light warriors that are prophesized to appear

What is GhostFood? My perception and interpretation of GhostFood have undoubtedly evolved more
times than I can count. Participating in public art and engaging with strangers from various
backgrounds has been a bizarre, risky, yet enlightening experience that I have found academically
enriching and personally impactful. The very strangeness of GhostFood has thrusted me into the
culturally colorful, yet much to be explored and understood Baltimore. Hovering around the sterile
white food truck, curious bystanders squint at the menu and inquisitively ask, What is GhostFood? It
is a question that I have repeatedly been probed throughout the course of the semester. A standard

GhostFood creates a safe space for observers to experience something completely new, and serve to
open discussion for anyone converse about their experiences. As Officer Moody, a security guard at
Lexington Market, mentioned, GhostFood breaks barriers. Moody wanted everyone, especially
younger Baltimoreans to try it, because she knew one day they would not be able to. In this case, food
served as a platform for discussion. Any person can form an opinion if something tasted good, or how
a peanut butter jelly sandwich can be memorable and integral part of his or her life. People come from
different backgrounds but food is relatable. To a different degree, the interconnections between food
and unrelated subjects can be surprising, controversial, and eye opening. GhostFood, in my opinion,
was successful in creating meaningful conversations through sensational and though provoking
sensational experiences; however, it has only come to the tip of the iceberg in addressing the many
questions that has come out of

Analysis Of Kenneth Branagh s Much Ado About Nothing
Kenneth Branagh s Much Ado About Nothing is remarkably different in tone from the other plays
discussed. Unlike the other two comedies, Taming of the Shrew and Merchant of Venice, there are far
fewer comedic aspects that do not translate well to modern audiences. The film has much less violence
in it than the others and even its chief villain is more like a cartoon villain than an outright evil
manipulator.
The tragedies are known for their fascinatingly complex villains such as Richard III or Iago, but
Keanu Reeves Don John comes across as a character lost in the wrong movie. He lurks in the shadows
and is not really given a compelling motive for his cruel actions. He does not even enact the rare few
scenes of violence in the film. In a different play, the ineffectual portrayal of the villain could ruin the
whole production, but Branagh understands that Much Ado About Nothing s most important parts are
the dynamics between the two sets of couples, something this film does quite well.
It is this toning down of violence and dark undertones that allows the film to be so successful. Claudio
s striking of Hero is the most noticeable physical violence and it is quickly followed by a romantic
scene between Beatrice and Benedick to restore the tone. It comes across well as a modern romantic
comedy, with just enough darkness to drive the plot forward. To make the film darker than it has to be
would diminish how enjoyable and fun to watch it is.

Microfridge
A
Report on
Microfridge: The Concept
Introduction:
Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business with
his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator, freezer and
microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator
shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa.
Analysing the Microfridge:
This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator
and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact
device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ...

Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to
target 120 colleges in a year.
Recommendation and Plan of Action:
To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using
their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the
market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create
trust and generate a greater brand following and value.
Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy
needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to
adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an
amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons
to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and
its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in
student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to
be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home.
A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press.

Fictional Literature is based on the author s imagination and perspective rather than reality. Short
stories, novels, novellas and folk tales are kinds of fiction. A short story is a short fictional prose
structure narrative constructed on a plot that includes the basic elements such as situation, rising
action, climax and resolution. In contrast to it, a Novel is a long fictional story that uses all the
elements comprising storytelling, plot, character, setting, theme and point of view.
A Novella is one of the types of fictional literature whose length can be measured as longer than a
short story and shorter than a novel.

Graffiti Public Good
In the short essay Graffiti is a Public Good, Even As it Challenges the Law Lu Olivero brings up the
topic of graffiti and it s righteousness as an artform. Olivero starts off the essay with an explanation
that graffiti is a subgenre of vandalism, which is a form of self expression and is, therefore, art.
However, graffiti embodies a different sense of aestheticism than of the vandalism and often carry a
critical message behind it ultimately holding value as an artwork. Throughout the essay, Olivero
discusses the depreciation graffiti art experience in the art world as well as in the socio political
environment. Since graffiti continues to stay on the borderline of vandalism a crime and an art form,
he wishes to change the perception of graffiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author mentions Banksy as a key example of political graffiti art. The case in Brazil is mentioned
where they legalize the acts of graffiti as long as it is off the historical buildings as an example of
positive changes that happened. Though the author advocates for a change in the attitude of graffiti art,
he acknowledges the necessary legal boundaries.
Graffiti art is difficult for me. Although I appreciate the products, and it s ability to bring up difficult
conversations in areas where conversations are not normally initiated (ruins, suburbs, low income
areas), the thought that it is illegal still lingers in the back of my head. I should not reject the illegal
aspect of this art since anarchism is deeply embodied in the spirit of graffiti art but it is difficult to do
so. The law exists to protect people and their private properties, and an individual s private asset
should not be violated for public goods. If an individual does not want to be involved in a dialogue the
graffiti art provides, the artist should not violate their space and force their artwork on private
properties. Protecting graffiti from the law is problematic as it deals with the issue of censorship. We
may wish to be exposed to all kinds of information, and

Non Satis Scire: To Know Is Not Enough
Elementary schools no longer require students to memorize multiplication tables. Learning how to
perform complex calculations using long division is passé. Many schools no longer teach children
cursive writing, and none teach, much less emphasize, the importance of good penmanship. The
advent of the age of technology is the cause...but is it to blame? Many people might believe that by
excluding some of the things that educators thought were important skills fifty years ago, makes today

The amount of information that needed to be absorbed and applied in order to earn a doctorate in 1850
is nowhere near the volumes of information required to earn that same degree today. Immediate access
to information has started the idea of just in time learning (Collins and Halverson 14). This means that
when one needs immediate information to accomplish a complex task, one can receive the needed data
at just the right time. Enthusiasts argue for just in time learning as the counter to the school strategy of
trying to teach everything one might need to know someday. Many Americans spend 15 20 years in
school learning things that they may or may not use later in life. (Collins and Halverson 14) Not many
Americans have ever required the date that Columbus discovered America to enhance their lives.
Since that kind of information is now available at the touch of a button, why do educators still require
children to memorize extraneous material? It would be much more logical and efficient to teach
children how to obtain that data, leaving more space to memorize other more vital

The Waves Of New York City Essay
The Waves of New York City

Away is a documentary about the surfing subculture in New York City that is shown through three
female surfers at Rockaway Beach.
The film was directed and produced by Elisa Bates. It was shown in many surf film festivals
including; New York Surf Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, and Pop up Surf Film Festival.
There is something so spiritual about surfing. I have never surfed a day in my life but every time I
watch others surf I feel this yearning to pick up a board and join them. It looks like one of the most
dangerous but most fulfilling activities at the same time. I once read somewhere that humans are
attracted to water and enjoy being in water because 70% of our body is made up of water and at
molecular level, we crave water. When I watch surfers, I feel that it s true and that I m being pulled
into the waters from deep within myself. It s no surprise the sound of waves calms most people and
helps them to relax. We associate the sounds of the ocean with calmness so surfers are just people in
search of the ultimate mediation. Don t get me wrong, surfing is not as simple as picking up a board
and going into the ocean. It takes a lot of hard work to be able to surf and the bigger the waves, the
harder it is to surf. Surfers have to have great upper body strength, an ... Show more content on

That said, we should not forget that leadership and empowerment often strongly depend on
mobilization. The fact that national leaders existed served to create role models that engendered a
sense of unity and communality. As the media were very selective when it came to the coverage of
local struggles, the attention that leaders like Martin Luther King and others received was important to
force the real and imaginative ties that invigorated the struggles on the local level. Therefore, Payne s
critique entails different layers. First, it is clearly a criticism of a scholarship that selectively focuses

Therefore, it is understandable that movement scholars tend to write from a rather activist stance.
There is nothing wrong with this per se, however, as historians, we should critically assess in how far
this positioning might limit our scholarship. At times, Payne tends to overemphasize the unity and the
solidarity among the organizers and the local population and fails to mention the tensions among
direct democratic groups like SNCC. Every social movement is made up of people, united under what
they perceive as an urgent need to bring about change. This unity tends to suppress theoretical and
practical differences for some time and can thus create a tremendous amount of communality and
solidarity among its members. However, as history has shown over and over again, as soon as the
external threat either diminishes or proves resistant to change, movements tend to disunite. This is
what Baker and other activists wanted to prevent by modeling their training around local long term
strategies and individual

Twain And Regionalism
Writing in the late 19th century, both Mark Twain and Ambrose Bierce were part of the Realism
literary period, which lasted from 1865 to 1900. Their writings, especially those of Twain, helped to
chart the course of American literature. Despite being in the Realism period, their stories are also part
of other eras. Writing mainly toward the beginning of the era and coming from a small Midwest
village, Twain was greatly influenced by Regionalism. Bierce, on the other hand, drew much of his
ideas from the period that followed Realism: Naturalism. While Mark Twain and Ambrose Bierce both
primarily wrote Realism, Twain s writings have a bent for Regionalism, while Bierce s short stories
lean towards Naturalism. Samuel Clemens, better known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Bierce, however, has a Naturalist inclination. According to him, humans live in a vast and completely
indifferent universe which we cannot fully grasp or perceive (Williams). This very concept is the
essence of Naturalism, which features many of the varying details that are common in Bierce s
writings. One such detail is a use of grotesque but matter of fact details, which is prevalent in
Chickamauga, which includes a man that has a face that lacked a lower jaw from the upper teeth to the
throat was a great red gap fringed with hanging shreds of flesh and splinters of bone (Bierce,
Ambrose. Chickamauga ), as well as the dead body of a woman the white face turned upward, the
hands thrown out and clutched full of grass, the clothing deranged, the long dark hair in tangles and
full of clotted blood (Bierce, Ambrose. Chickamauga ). Bierce also depicts war, fear, and death as
unstoppable forces that make worms meat be [t]he finished product of which we are the raw material
(Bierce, Ambrose. The Devil s Dictionary). This idea of the presence of great omnipotent powers that
are beyond the understanding of humans is one unique to Naturalism, and proves that he was strongly

Change In Accounting For Leases Case Study
Change in Accounting for Leases Sweeping transformation of current lease accounting rules will have
widespread impacts for nearly all companies. Will companies reduce the lease period for a term of less
than one year due to the complexity of the new regulation? The globe is dynamics and also the
accounting profession has to be dynamic to respond to changes that occur (Dirksen, 31). On that note,
the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB) has introduced a new regulation on how to account
for leases (codes 842 10 15 3). Based on FASB rules, leases are classified as either operating lease or
capital lease. The operating lease is usually less than a year and can be canceled at any time; however,

The latest guidelines may have a broad influence on the lessees on the tax incurred due to leasing if
there is no reassessment done. Leasing enables companies such as airlines that lease aircrafts and
retailers that lease stores, to make use of tangible assets and intangible assets without incurring
significant capital outflow during the initial stage of conception. Aswath noted that firms with
increasing operating lease expense over time would have a net capital expenditure reflecting this
growth. Therefore, the changes of the standards will have a profound impact on the lessees.
The new theoretical change will increase transparency. The core principle of the new guidance is that
lessees are obligated to recognize the assets and liabilities for leases with lease terms of more than
twelve months, regardless of the classification as either financial or operating lease, on the balance
sheet as a right of use asset and corresponding liability. The decision on whether lessees should
consider accounting for leases on a yearly basis is fundamental and will be influenced by the
management perception of the new regulations. However, it will tend to create complexity in
accounting if an organization decides to account for leases for a longer period. That notwithstanding,
it has to be noted that businesses have to make profits by cutting costs and this can be achieved via
economy of scale

Review Of Jacob Riis s Muckraker
This is a chapter of a book was written by Jacob Riis, who was a muckraking journalist. Muckraker
was a journalist who pushed for reform in publications that covered the issues of society for the
middle and wealthy classes. In this book, Riis made a photographic report about the life of poor
people in the tenements of New York. In the beginning, Riis described a raid which was made by
policemen. The object of that raid was the stale beer dives. He said that the squads sent to make
simultaneous control on all tramp s lair in the area. After that, they caught several tramps and sent
them to the police station. Then, Riis described a room of one tenement. There was a dirty floor,
broken chair, and many things that it shouldn t in the memory of the man. In that place, there was a
group of poor people. The policemen broke into that room and surrounded those people. There was a
thirteen person in that dirty room. The police took them and went to another location. In another
location, the policemen found seventy five men and women and arrested them in four small rooms.
When they went back to the police station, there were two hundred seventy five tramps, who were
captured by policemen, packed them into groups to be arraigned in the police court. He said that the
tramps might be sent to an island for six months. After that, he described the people s life in that area
which known as the bend . He said that a share of stale beer traffic has left the bend due to an Italian

Effects of Alcohol
There are many opinions that have been put across regarding alcohol consumption. Some are biased
while others are based on either prejudice or beliefs. However the truth is that alcohol has its own
merits and demerits. Every drinker has already at least some of the short term alcohol effects like a
hangover or a bad night s sleep. Long term effects are usually experienced when it is quite late. Heavy
drinking results to a staggering walk, indistinct words and memory lapses. Upon drinking, one
develops difficulties with their stability, judgement and harmonisation. One usually takes a gradual

The Auditor Book Summary
Auditor, an instructional novella written by James K. Loebbecke, tells the story of Jack Butler, a man
from the San Francisco Bay area, who goes to college, majors in accounting, and goes to work for a
large accounting firm referred to as The Firm. The story is loosely based upon the real world
experiences of the author, and is written to give students a look into the world of public accounting
that goes beyond a textbook. The Auditor not only gives students a chance to follow Jack Butler s
journey up the company ladder at The Firm, but also reiterates the relative importance of conventional
lessons learned in school.
The story begins with a nerve filled morning for Jack Butler. He is one of three managers who are

Chapter five marks the beginning of Jack s career at The Firm. It is on this day that he is introduced to
the Bearisms. Bearisms were a list of unwritten rules and sayings The Bear, Quentin Barnes, had
compiled over his years with The Firm. Two weeks later, Jack was headed to a national training center
for The Firm. Upon returning from his training trip, Jack sets out on his first audit engagement to the
Bakersfield Cement Plant. On his first engagement, Jack discovers two problems. First, he finds out
that a clerk had borrowed money out of the petty cash box, and that the money is missing. Second, he
discovers that another employee has been adjusting inventory numbers. This first audit experience
serves as a great learning experience for students because it gives them an idea of what could happen
on your first audit. Jack showed that although it was his first audit, he was going to make sure he did
the right thing to address both issues. To conclude the chapter, Jack states that he left Bakersfield
feeling that he had not only learned a lot, but had done a good job as well. This story helps the student
to understand the full process of an audit and know what to do if problems are discovered. The chapter
as a whole displays to the student how a new hire goes through the training process and then begins on
their first audit. This allows the student to form an idea of what to expect when they begin their
careers at their respective firms.

The Pros And Cons Of The Schlieffen-Moltke Plan
Although critical for the German war plan, the Schlieffen Moltke plan was kept a secret to the public,
and even staff members of the German Imperial Army. Moltke kept the Schlieffen Plan a secret
throughout his service in the army. Even close staff members, such as General Gerog Graf von
Waldersee, admitted they had never actually seen the blueprints for the plan. (Ehlert, 90, PPed). A
reason that Moltke wished to keep the Schlieffen Moltke plan a secret was for the reason of altering it
if needed without objection from his staff members. Other commander s opinions may have helped
find a better strategy, as well as counter arguments to flawed areas of the plan. Surprisingly, Moltke
did not tell Schlieffen about the changes he had made to his plan. However, Schlieffen found out about
his changes and questioned Moltke s leadership out of spite. (Ehlert, 97, pped). Moltke s strategy was
flawed and caused crucial problem s during the deployment of the Schlieffen Plan. However, he had
the power to get away with it. Due to his close relationship with the Kaiser, Moltke was able to
exercise political pressure and to influence the decisions of the civilian government. His fear of what
the future held for Germany was infectious, and Chancellor Bethmann Hollweg, in particular, was a
victim of this dark vision of things to come. (Mombauer, 420, 1999). Moltke had the ability to control
the actions of the German military without resistance from his staff.

Aborigines in Australia Essays
Aborigines in Australia Foreword: The aborigines in Australia have been the subject of controversy
and attention towards the end of the 20th century because of their maltreatment in the hands of their
British colonizers and continued persecution in a land they rightfully own. Their rich culture, which
dates back to the Ice and Stone Age, is near extinction because of the oppression they suffered through
time. In spite of the odds, however, the remaining children of this near extinct but proud race are
fighting valiantly to survive and preserve their proof of existence in a world dominated by educated
and civilized people. This essay analyzes the plight of this minority group in three ... Show more

Comprising of some 500 tribes, their culture are linked by totemism, or affinity to an animal, plant or
cosmical phenomena, with several tribes belonging to one totem but may have varied languages
(Reidlinger, 1996). Hence, social order and relations were based on the specific social rules and laws
of the totem in which they belong. In terms of religion, the Aborigines believed that all forms of life
came from Creation Ancestors , referring to both animal and human kind, and that their spirits linger
and dwell on mountains, rocks, and whoever disrespects the land will be turned to rock. Thus, they
place reverence on the land because any damages made on it endangers the living and the sacred
spirits occupying it. This fact also explains their dependence on what nature can provide rather than
disrupting the natural course of nature. There were about 750,000 aborigines living in harmony until
the arrival of Captain Philip in 1788 in Australia on instructions of King George III, along with some
700 prisoners. Their destination was Botany Bay, the identified site for the new convict colony of
Great Britain as replacement for the American colony site they maintained when America was still
under Britain. While the fleet was ordered by their government to maintain civility and conciliatory
measures with natives, if ever there

Designing A Language For The Banking Problem
This essay is written to design a language that is suitable for the banking problem. The banking sector
is related to the business areas. Banking sector provide services to their customers and security of their
customer s money to them. Banking is also evolved in the finance areas also. There are many
programming languages that have been widely used for the business applications of computers. Some
of these languages are java, COBOL, FORTRAN, Pascal, Python, PHP, C/C++ etc. Each language has
its own features and characteristics, syntax, compilation and interpreter methods and also has
exception handling and maintenance also. So, here I am going to design a new language that is use for
the banking problem domain. The language is IBPL (Internet Business Programming Language). This
language has its own features, scope, characteristics, maintenance and its compilation and
interpretation methods. This language is different from all the existing languages. In this essay I am
going to describe about my language i.e. IBPL (Internet Business Programming Language), its
purpose of designing, its features, its characteristics, its compilation and interpretation, its
expressivity, type checking, Orthogonality, its simplicity, its data types and support for abstraction, its
readability, writability and its reliability etc.
So, in this I am going to write an essay to design a new language for the problem domain of banking.

Weapons In The Odyssey
The way that weapons were depicted in the book is that they were a destructive force to be reckoned
with. They were portrayed as something bad people, aka the Japs, Nazis, and Italians, used. Airplanes,
on the other hand, were given a good rep at the beginning of the book when they went out and did
destructive damage for the Allies. But when they were used to shoot at the Allies, they were thought to
be the weapons of Satan himself. Resolving at the end of the book though, they were finally thought
of life savers when they went to rescue Louie, Allan, etc. Weapons, on the other hand, were always
depicted as gruesome killing objects, and that they were, are, and will be, but the way they were
shown they were only used by the Axis. I m not saying or even suggesting that what the Nazis did was
morally correct, acceptable, or even somehow conceivably right. I m only saying that the ... Show

This series included the B 17C through the B 17H. The differences between the different types were
enough so that the crews from a B 17E couldn t be transferred to B 17G. That is not to say they didn t

that in your mind. We were already mass producing planes to send into a war which we had not
officially joined. The Boeing B 17 was this plane. We had only constructed 42 D s before Pearl
Harbor. The F was the first major change in the line of Flying Fortresses. With over 400 modifications
on the interior and only a change in the style of bubble top in the cockpit, the Japs and Nazis received
a nasty surprise when they were trying to chase these down. With all of these interior changes and
only a minor tint change on the outside, you think you re chasing a B 17E and you end up getting shot
down by the B 17F. The G had quite a few changes, but most were to the artillery measures and not to

Safe Riding Research Paper
Safe riding is more demanding than driving a car. Motorists have a hard time seeing motorcycles
because of their smaller size and profile. Defensive riding requires that you assume other vehicles don
t see you. In addition, you must quickly spot and deal with road debris and pavement defects that may
cause a fall. This demands good riding skills and quick reaction speed. But riding skill and reaction
time aren t enough without a good situational awareness, and this isn t possible without sharp vision.
As a prescription glasses wearer, you understand that riding without some means of correcting your
vision is out of the question. In addition, you may know that your street prescription glasses lack
sufficient impact resistance for protecting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, you should never overlook the frames. High impact resistant lenses won t help if they pop
out of the frames when struck by a pebble while riding 65 mph on the interstate. Durability is
important as well. You don t want a brittle material or one that readily bends such as some of the
metals used for street glasses.
The material must retain its shape yet have some flexibility so that it can hold up to the stresses of
travel. If you happen to place the glasses in a pocket, that shouldn t cause frame damage or a lens to
pop out. Nylon is well suited for prescription motorcycle glasses. It s strong, tough, flexible, and has a
good tolerance for heat and cold. Nylon frames also come in a wide variety of colors and designs.
Proper Fit
Another reason street prescription glasses are a bad choice for motorcycling is their fit. Motorcycle
glasses shouldn t slide down your nose, cause pain when worn with a helmet, fall off, or allow
sunlight in between your eyebrow and the top of the glasses. The nose piece should feel comfortable,
not leave pinch marks, and hold the glasses in place. An adjustable nose piece may be

Green Crab Case Study
1. The habitat of the green crab changed after 1900 and this is important because all of the shells
found prior to 1900 are thin and taller than the ones found after the green crab migrated to Cape Cod,
Massachusetts. This information can be found in introduction of Seeley s paper. 2. Seeley used an
ocular micrometer at x10 magnification. Shell height was measured with calipers. This information
was found in the methods section of the paper. 3. Seeley cannot conclude from only the field
experiment that shell thickness is a heritable trait passed on from parent to offspring because there was
no genetic testing involved. It could be that the occurrence of shells being thicker is by chance and
there are no thin shelled snails to be found because

The Ethics Of The Advertising Industry
Persons and businesses are expected to have certain ethical standards which are controlled by a series
of ethical codes. This research is focused on the ethics of the advertising industry. Some questions will
be answered like: should companies be allowed to collect/sell client s info? Should targeted online
advertising on the basis of user s profile and demographics? Should there be a ban the sale of
surveillance technology to non democratic countries?
Keywords: targeted online advertising, surveillance technology, non democratic countries, false
advertising, ethical theories, code of ethics.
Ethics in the Advertising Industry.
Ethics is a set of moral principles on values that governs the conduct of an individual or group
(Cheeseman, 2006 p. 149). This paper reflects how ethical the different companies especially in the
advertising world are. It also analyze a given case with the theories of ethics to see which best fits into
the case description.
Violation of the Ethic Code.
Though companies and business persons are expected to follow ethical rules in the conduct of their
affairs and not to harm society, they don t always practice this discipline. Many companies are using
costumer s information to make a profit out of it. As a result, people are getting bombed with relevant
advertising and marketing campaigns. It is a tricky area because they are allowed to collect the
information in order to best determine the characteristics of their customers, and it could also help

The Conflict Of The Syrian Civil War
The conflicts, especially political conflicts, were not formed overnight. They have been accumulating
for at least four years. The Syrian Civil War that displaced millions of refugees officially began on
March 15th, 2011 when protesters stormed the capital of Damascus demanding democratic reforms
and the release of political prisoners from the Assad regime. (Kareem Fahim) Unfortunately, these
campaigns were met with gunfire, as only a month later the Syrian army engaged in a series of
military attacks on its own people leading to the death of over 1,000 civilians. The Civil War that led
to the accumulation of refugees started for a series of complicated reasons. For one thing, Shia Sunni
conflicts persisting to this day have caused great tensions between communities. The Alawite (Shia)
dominated Al Assad government has oppressed Sunni Muslims (the majority of Muslims) with armed
forces for more than 50 years, which enormously intensified the situation in Syria. For another, the
poor economic conditions in Syria also contributed a great deal to this war. Although President Al
Assad had carried out a series of reforms in 2000, people in Syria suffered from high unemployment
rate (14.9%) and low average income (below US $49). (Central Intelligence Agency) A power vacuum
exists in the region, with ISIS (aka Islamic State of Iraq and Levant), Al Nusra, and Kurds all battling
for control in Syria. ISIS, which now owns the largest portion of Syria, took advantage of the power

Islam and Jihad Essay
The Arabic word Jihad literally means holy struggle . It is not holy war. War is war. No war can be
holy. The blood of humans is holy and sacred. The Quran says unjust killing of one man means the
killing of the whole mankind. What is just killing and what is unjust killing. When some body kills a
man without any reason or justification it is unjust killing. When the judge gives the capital
punishment to this murderer and issues the order of his death, it is a just killing. Similarly, when a war
is thrust upon you and you become the victim of persecution and aggression, you are permitted to
defend yourselves and kill the invaders or perpetrators. There are some Muslims who believe in Jihad
in the name of aversion and conversion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad gave us law and code of life. All preached
brotherhood, justice, freedom, equality and peace. The prophets were the greatest champions of
human rights. They boldly revolted against the tyrants, oppressors and aggressors.
Jihad by sword is only permissible when you are attacked. It is unfortunate that Islam is being branded
as the religion of extremists, fascists, fundamentalists and terrorists. A few days ago some non Muslim
emailed me. He wrote; Islam is the religion of terrorism and Muhammad was a terrorist. Why he
wrote this? How he came to such a conclusion? First; he has neither studied Islam nor the life of the
Prophet of Islam. Second he has read or seen the terrorist activities of some Muslim hard liners and
extremists. Partly he is correct and partly he is incorrect. The Quran about mischief mongers and the
enemies of peace candidly in Sura The Cow ; when it is said to them; ‘make not mischief on the earth
. They say; ‘we are only ones that put things right . Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief,
but they realize it not (2:11 12). The serious, objective and rational study of the Quran testifies this
verity that Islam strongly condemns bloodshed and aggression. It is a religion of peace. The Meccans
attacked Muhammad thrice. The battle of Badr; the battle of Uhad and the battle of Trench are solid
proofs of the fact that the Muslims of Medina

Theories Of Power, Authority And Legitimacy
Introduction
In this reading report, it discusses the various perspectives about power, authority and legitimacy in
the chapter titled Power, Authority and the State by Shaun Best. In this chapter Best draws various
theories from a number of theorists that contributes to power, authority and legitimacy. From their
perspectives, three have been chosen which are Anthony Giddens, Max Weber, and Michel Foucault.
Their perspectives on the topic will be summarised and how power, authority and legitimacy can be
seen in society that supports their theories.
Anthony Giddens Modernity
In this chapter by Best, Anthony Giddens delineate the concept modernity and what that entails in the
modern world as it can be seen in almost every aspect of life. ... Show more content on

Charismatic authority is solely based on the charisma of an individual that is seen as a leader and the
individuals personality and character is essential. Traditional authority is when a title is transferred
from one generation to the next through tradition and belief system. Rational legal authority is the
legitimate power that is seen as acceptable by citizens because there are rules and set of laws that
gives the state authority. Illegitimate power is a form of punishment centred/ coercion that citizens do
not adhere too and go against the given rules. (Best, 2001: 14 15)
Michel Foucault
Foucault emphasized on how power is the idea of struggle and the resistance and how power operates
at all levels in society. Foucault mentions how people are mere test subjects for example he touches on
how the state make use of resources to gather information about individuals, which he calls bio power
(Best, 2001: 19 20). There are three modes of objection that explain how people become subjects. The
first mode is dividing practices which involve the exclusion of people who are seen as a threat to
society. The second mode is the scientific classification, which focuses on the hierarchical
observations. The third mode is subjectification, which focuses on citizen of society and everything
else as being seen as a subject, it also emphasize

Blues Music Is Still Based On Emotional Pain
In the beginning of its existence, blues music was a way of expressing ones feelings that they were not
allowed to speak about in mixed company. This was music that expressed from the heart and soul of
painful experiences that continued on throughout the course of living in a divided, unequal society.
Blues music is still based on emotional pain, still the most wonderful way to express tears and
heartache in a catchy sounding musical format. This is the music that touches people in a deeper
manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of
past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely
impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black
Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help
raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s
Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown
was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s
were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black
power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this
song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise

Bmw s Impact On The Manufacturing Of Cars
BMW begins its long history, which stretches for almost a hundred years, in Germany. BMW had a
major impact on the manufacturing of cars. Rapp needed a financial backer to do this and in 1916 he
renamed the Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works). After a financial problem with the
company Rapp left. When Rapp left the company Franz Josef Popp took over. He set up BMW as we
know it today( BMW Early History ).
In 1913 a German engineer Karl Friedrich Rapp who had been the early director of a successful
aircraft company, started his own business to make aircraft engines. He named the Rapp
Motorenwerke and set up shop in Munich Germany. He did this because the biggest buyer of his
engines was nearby. The company did very well and was contracted to build a large sum of V12
airplane engines to fill a very high demand. BMW made many aircraft engines during WWI. After the
war was lost the Versailles Treaty prohibited German companies from producing aircraft and aircraft
engines. BMW had to find a new way to stay in business and get income. Again and again BMW had
discussed getting into the car business but it was never really necessary until now( History of BMW
). At this time in history German s economy was very bad and inflation was very high. BMW started
to make low cost cars in early 1925. They were a success and BMW made a full swing into the
automobile business.
In 1930 BMW began work on a new four cylinder engine. The engine was advanced for its time but it

Legalizing Abortion Pros
Providing abortions by trained professionals reduces the number of women who die due to unsafe
abortions. Out of all medical procedures in the US, abortions are the safest when done by a trained
professional in within the first trimester of pregnancy. They re only dangerous when performed by an
untrained professional. Unsafe abortions leads to the deaths of more than 47,000 women. Legalizing
abortions reduces the number of abortion related deaths: The legalization of abortion on request in
South Africa in 1998 saw abortion related deaths drop by 91% (Singer). If access to clinics that
provide abortions is restricted, more women will seek help from providers that aren t reliable which
can lead to more deaths. We can prevent more accidents from occurring if more clinics are open for
people. Not only do more safe clinics allow people have safer abortions, but also other aspects of
healthcare. Funding clinics that provide abortions also helps fund other healthcare services. Planned
Parenthood is the most commonly known clinic that provides abortions. They are the nation s largest

  • 2. Space Invaders In The 1970 s 1970 s After looking around for an iconic game in this era there were only a few choices and I chose Space Invaders. Space invaders was first released in 1978 on arcade machines. I chose this game because when you think about top arcade games in history this would most people s top 5. This game should be known in the history of gaming because it was the first Japanese game to do so well in America even though there were a few before it. In just 4 years in America it made $2 billion (Peckham, n.d.). However it wasn t just the American market it was doing so well back in Japan there was a nationwide shortage of 100 yen coins because the game was being played by so many people in Japan (Edwards, n.d.). It inspired space themed games not to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Final fantasy was released in 1987 by the company square (which would later merge with a company called Enix and become the company that is well known now Square Enix). However it didn t hit the US markets until 1990. It came out on the Nintendo entertainment system (NES for short). I chose this game because this game franchise is the reason I and expect many people love RPG s. Also this game is also regarded as the most successful and influential RPG to be played on the NES. This game is the reason why the company square didn t go bankrupt due it overwhelming popularity. It was called final fantasy as the company thought it was going to be the last game they made little did they know it was the reason the company didn t go under (Thomas, n.d.). It also increased the sales of the NES because if you loved RPG games which a lot of people do the only place you could play it was the NES. This game is just the first of long line of successful games (Final Fantasy series). It also helped cement making the RPG genre more popular. The game is a turn based role playing game. Where when you are battling against enemies you have to take turns in fighting not both fighting at the same time. At the time the graphics of the game were met with overwhelming praise as well as the soundtrack that accompanied the game. In the game you play as four light warriors that are prophesized to appear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ghostwood Research Paper What is GhostFood? My perception and interpretation of GhostFood have undoubtedly evolved more times than I can count. Participating in public art and engaging with strangers from various backgrounds has been a bizarre, risky, yet enlightening experience that I have found academically enriching and personally impactful. The very strangeness of GhostFood has thrusted me into the culturally colorful, yet much to be explored and understood Baltimore. Hovering around the sterile white food truck, curious bystanders squint at the menu and inquisitively ask, What is GhostFood? It is a question that I have repeatedly been probed throughout the course of the semester. A standard answer that I or another server would say: GhostFood serves post extinction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was, too. Location and environment tremendously affect and influence a public art project. GhostFood creates a safe space for observers to experience something completely new, and serve to open discussion for anyone converse about their experiences. As Officer Moody, a security guard at Lexington Market, mentioned, GhostFood breaks barriers. Moody wanted everyone, especially younger Baltimoreans to try it, because she knew one day they would not be able to. In this case, food served as a platform for discussion. Any person can form an opinion if something tasted good, or how a peanut butter jelly sandwich can be memorable and integral part of his or her life. People come from different backgrounds but food is relatable. To a different degree, the interconnections between food and unrelated subjects can be surprising, controversial, and eye opening. GhostFood, in my opinion, was successful in creating meaningful conversations through sensational and though provoking sensational experiences; however, it has only come to the tip of the iceberg in addressing the many questions that has come out of ... • 4. Analysis Of Kenneth Branagh s Much Ado About Nothing Kenneth Branagh s Much Ado About Nothing is remarkably different in tone from the other plays discussed. Unlike the other two comedies, Taming of the Shrew and Merchant of Venice, there are far fewer comedic aspects that do not translate well to modern audiences. The film has much less violence in it than the others and even its chief villain is more like a cartoon villain than an outright evil manipulator. The tragedies are known for their fascinatingly complex villains such as Richard III or Iago, but Keanu Reeves Don John comes across as a character lost in the wrong movie. He lurks in the shadows and is not really given a compelling motive for his cruel actions. He does not even enact the rare few scenes of violence in the film. In a different play, the ineffectual portrayal of the villain could ruin the whole production, but Branagh understands that Much Ado About Nothing s most important parts are the dynamics between the two sets of couples, something this film does quite well. It is this toning down of violence and dark undertones that allows the film to be so successful. Claudio s striking of Hero is the most noticeable physical violence and it is quickly followed by a romantic scene between Beatrice and Benedick to restore the tone. It comes across well as a modern romantic comedy, with just enough darkness to drive the plot forward. To make the film darker than it has to be would diminish how enjoyable and fun to watch it is. Henry V is similar in some ways ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Microfridge A Report on Microfridge: The Concept Introduction: Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business with his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator, freezer and microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa. Analysing the Microfridge: This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to target 120 colleges in a year. Recommendation and Plan of Action: To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create trust and generate a greater brand following and value. Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home. A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press. Olivero starts off the essay with an explanation that graffiti is a subgenre of vandalism, which is a form of self expression and is, therefore, art. However, graffiti embodies a different sense of aestheticism than of the vandalism and often carry a critical message behind it ultimately holding value as an artwork. Throughout the essay, Olivero discusses the depreciation graffiti art experience in the art world as well as in the socio political environment. The author mentions Banksy as a key example of political graffiti art. The case in Brazil is mentioned where they legalize the acts of graffiti as long as it is off the historical buildings as an example of positive changes that happened. Though the author advocates for a change in the attitude of graffiti art, he acknowledges the necessary legal boundaries. Graffiti art is difficult for me. Although I appreciate the products, and it s ability to bring up difficult conversations in areas where conversations are not normally initiated (ruins, suburbs, low income areas), the thought that it is illegal still lingers in the back of my head. I should not reject the illegal aspect of this art since anarchism is deeply embodied in the spirit of graffiti art but it is difficult to do so. The law exists to protect people and their private properties, and an individual s private asset should not be violated for public goods. If an individual does not want to be involved in a dialogue the graffiti art provides, the artist should not violate their space and force their artwork on private properties. Protecting graffiti from the law is problematic as it deals with the issue of censorship. We may wish to be exposed to all kinds of information, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Learning how to perform complex calculations using long division is passé. Many schools no longer teach children cursive writing, and none teach, much less emphasize, the importance of good penmanship. The advent of the age of technology is the cause...but is it to blame? Many people might believe that by excluding some of the things that educators thought were important skills fifty years ago, makes today s young adults ill educated. The amount of information that needed to be absorbed and applied in order to earn a doctorate in 1850 is nowhere near the volumes of information required to earn that same degree today. This means that when one needs immediate information to accomplish a complex task, one can receive the needed data at just the right time. Enthusiasts argue for just in time learning as the counter to the school strategy of trying to teach everything one might need to know someday. Many Americans spend 15 20 years in school learning things that they may or may not use later in life. (Collins and Halverson 14) Not many Americans have ever required the date that Columbus discovered America to enhance their lives. Since that kind of information is now available at the touch of a button, why do educators still require children to memorize extraneous material? It would be much more logical and efficient to teach children how to obtain that data, leaving more space to memorize other more vital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Waves Of New York City Essay The Waves of New York City Nia Scott Away is a documentary about the surfing subculture in New York City that is shown through three female surfers at Rockaway Beach. The film was directed and produced by Elisa Bates. It was shown in many surf film festivals including; New York Surf Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, and Pop up Surf Film Festival. There is something so spiritual about surfing. I have never surfed a day in my life but every time I watch others surf I feel this yearning to pick up a board and join them. It looks like one of the most dangerous but most fulfilling activities at the same time. I once read somewhere that humans are attracted to water and enjoy being in water because 70% of our body is made up of water and at molecular level, we crave water. When I watch surfers, I feel that it s true and that I m being pulled into the waters from deep within myself. It s no surprise the sound of waves calms most people and helps them to relax. We associate the sounds of the ocean with calmness so surfers are just people in search of the ultimate mediation. Don t get me wrong, surfing is not as simple as picking up a board and going into the ocean. It takes a lot of hard work to be able to surf and the bigger the waves, the harder it is to surf. • 10. I Ve Got The Light Of Freedom Analysis That said, we should not forget that leadership and empowerment often strongly depend on mobilization. The fact that national leaders existed served to create role models that engendered a sense of unity and communality. As the media were very selective when it came to the coverage of local struggles, the attention that leaders like Martin Luther King and others received was important to force the real and imaginative ties that invigorated the struggles on the local level. Every social movement is made up of people, united under what they perceive as an urgent need to bring about change. This unity tends to suppress theoretical and practical differences for some time and can thus create a tremendous amount of communality and solidarity among its members. Their writings, especially those of Twain, helped to chart the course of American literature. Despite being in the Realism period, their stories are also part of other eras. Writing mainly toward the beginning of the era and coming from a small Midwest village, Twain was greatly influenced by Regionalism. Bierce, on the other hand, drew much of his ideas from the period that followed Realism: Naturalism. According to him, humans live in a vast and completely indifferent universe which we cannot fully grasp or perceive (Williams). One such detail is a use of grotesque but matter of fact details, which is prevalent in Chickamauga, which includes a man that has a face that lacked a lower jaw from the upper teeth to the throat was a great red gap fringed with hanging shreds of flesh and splinters of bone (Bierce, Ambrose. Chickamauga ), as well as the dead body of a woman the white face turned upward, the hands thrown out and clutched full of grass, the clothing deranged, the long dark hair in tangles and full of clotted blood (Bierce, Ambrose. Will companies reduce the lease period for a term of less than one year due to the complexity of the new regulation? The globe is dynamics and also the accounting profession has to be dynamic to respond to changes that occur (Dirksen, 31). The latest guidelines may have a broad influence on the lessees on the tax incurred due to leasing if there is no reassessment done. Leasing enables companies such as airlines that lease aircrafts and retailers that lease stores, to make use of tangible assets and intangible assets without incurring significant capital outflow during the initial stage of conception. Aswath noted that firms with increasing operating lease expense over time would have a net capital expenditure reflecting this growth. Therefore, the changes of the standards will have a profound impact on the lessees. The new theoretical change will increase transparency. The core principle of the new guidance is that lessees are obligated to recognize the assets and liabilities for leases with lease terms of more than twelve months, regardless of the classification as either financial or operating lease, on the balance sheet as a right of use asset and corresponding liability. The decision on whether lessees should consider accounting for leases on a yearly basis is fundamental and will be influenced by the management perception of the new regulations. Moltke kept the Schlieffen Plan a secret throughout his service in the army. Even close staff members, such as General Gerog Graf von Waldersee, admitted they had never actually seen the blueprints for the plan. (Ehlert, 90, PPed). A reason that Moltke wished to keep the Schlieffen Moltke plan a secret was for the reason of altering it if needed without objection from his staff members. Other commander s opinions may have helped find a better strategy, as well as counter arguments to flawed areas of the plan. Surprisingly, Moltke did not tell Schlieffen about the changes he had made to his plan. However, Schlieffen found out about his changes and questioned Moltke s leadership out of spite. (Ehlert, 97, pped). Moltke s strategy was flawed and caused crucial problem s during the deployment of the Schlieffen Plan. However, he had the power to get away with it. Due to his close relationship with the Kaiser, Moltke was able to exercise political pressure and to influence the decisions of the civilian government. His fear of what the future held for Germany was infectious, and Chancellor Bethmann Hollweg, in particular, was a victim of this dark vision of things to come. (Mombauer, 420, 1999). The Syrian Civil War that displaced millions of refugees officially began on March 15th, 2011 when protesters stormed the capital of Damascus demanding democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners from the Assad regime. (Kareem Fahim) Unfortunately, these campaigns were met with gunfire, as only a month later the Syrian army engaged in a series of military attacks on its own people leading to the death of over 1,000 civilians. The Civil War that led to the accumulation of refugees started for a series of complicated reasons. For one thing, Shia Sunni conflicts persisting to this day have caused great tensions between communities. The Alawite (Shia) dominated Al Assad government has oppressed Sunni Muslims (the majority of Muslims) with armed forces for more than 50 years, which enormously intensified the situation in Syria. A few days ago some non Muslim emailed me. He wrote; Islam is the religion of terrorism and Muhammad was a terrorist. Why he wrote this? How he came to such a conclusion? First; he has neither studied Islam nor the life of the Prophet of Islam. Second he has read or seen the terrorist activities of some Muslim hard liners and extremists. Partly he is correct and partly he is incorrect. The Quran about mischief mongers and the enemies of peace candidly in Sura The Cow ; when it is said to them; ‘make not mischief on the earth . They say; ‘we are only ones that put things right . Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realize it not (2:11 12). The serious, objective and rational study of the Quran testifies this verity that Islam strongly condemns bloodshed and aggression. It is a religion of peace. The Meccans attacked Muhammad thrice. The battle of Badr; the battle of Uhad and the battle of Trench are solid proofs of the fact that the Muslims of Medina ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traditional authority is when a title is transferred from one generation to the next through tradition and belief system. Rational legal authority is the legitimate power that is seen as acceptable by citizens because there are rules and set of laws that gives the state authority. Illegitimate power is a form of punishment centred/ coercion that citizens do not adhere too and go against the given rules. (Best, 2001: 14 15) Michel Foucault Foucault emphasized on how power is the idea of struggle and the resistance and how power operates at all levels in society. Foucault mentions how people are mere test subjects for example he touches on how the state make use of resources to gather information about individuals, which he calls bio power (Best, 2001: 19 20). There are three modes of objection that explain how people become subjects. The first mode is dividing practices which involve the exclusion of people who are seen as a threat to society. The second mode is the scientific classification, which focuses on the hierarchical observations. The third mode is subjectification, which focuses on citizen of society and everything else as being seen as a subject, it also emphasize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Blues Music Is Still Based On Emotional Pain In the beginning of its existence, blues music was a way of expressing ones feelings that they were not allowed to speak about in mixed company. This was music that expressed from the heart and soul of painful experiences that continued on throughout the course of living in a divided, unequal society. Blues music is still based on emotional pain, still the most wonderful way to express tears and heartache in a catchy sounding musical format. This is the music that touches people in a deeper manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise out of ... In 1913 a German engineer Karl Friedrich Rapp who had been the early director of a successful aircraft company, started his own business to make aircraft engines. He named the Rapp Motorenwerke and set up shop in Munich Germany. He did this because the biggest buyer of his engines was nearby. The company did very well and was contracted to build a large sum of V12 airplane engines to fill a very high demand. BMW made many aircraft engines during WWI. After the war was lost the Versailles Treaty prohibited German companies from producing aircraft and aircraft engines. BMW had to find a new way to stay in business and get income. Again and again BMW had discussed getting into the car business but it was never really necessary until now( History of BMW ). At this time in history German s economy was very bad and inflation was very high. BMW started to make low cost cars in early 1925. They were a success and BMW made a full swing into the automobile business. In 1930 BMW began work on a new four cylinder engine. The engine was advanced for its time but it ...
