Taking And Raising Baby By Anna R. Pierce
Taking Sides: Challenges to Parenthood Taking children to practice, running to the store, going
different directions give many challenges to parenthood. With that being said, there are many
challenges that come from being a parent which will discussed from the article by Anna R. Pierce
called, Who s Raising Baby? The purpose of this paper is to critique the article that s about
challenges to modern day parenting and analyze three weaknesses and one strength, as well as give
an opinion on the topic.
Summary (1st level)
The article starts off with discussing how very unlikely it is that you will see different scenes of
children playing outside such as riding their bikes, playing tag outside, or simply working together
out in the yard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
41). She concludes by saying that we must provide them with more than opportunities for
competing, skill learning, and socializing so they continue growing as individuals (Peirce, 2002, p.
42).
Critical Analysis (1st level)
Weaknesses 1 (2nd level)
The first weakness that is found is in some cases the author overgeneralized people and findings.
With that being said, this is a flaw because the author is generalizing all the children and parents
during almost the whole entire article. This may pose a problem for the reader because the
readers may be thinking, Well, that s not the case in my life or I never did that as a child. The author
needs to recognize that not all children and parents is that the studies and experiences don t apply
to everyone. The paper needs to acknowledge that most children are like this not all, then give
specifics of who, where, and when. For example, she overgeneralizes in the beginning of the
research article by starting off that asking a question on where children are and what they are
doing. She gives examples that they are in day care centers, playing Play Station, watching TV, and
that they re not enjoying a casual conversation. She says that parenting for us is providing them
with things like those earlier examples stated to keep them busy (Pierce, 2002, p. 39). She uses the
words us and children. Not some, children or

Fuzzy Logic Based N Version Programming For Improving...
Fuzzy logic based N Version Programming for improving Software Fault Tolerance Introduction:
The N version software concept attempts to parallel the traditional hardware fault tolerance
concept of N way redundant hardware. In an N version software system, each module is made
with up to N different implementations. Each variant accomplishes the same task, but hopefully in
a different way. Each version then submits its answer to voter or decider which determines the
correct answer, (hopefully, all versions were the same and correct,) and returns that as the result of
the module. This system can hopefully overcome the design faults present in most software by
relying upon the design diversity concept. An important distinction in N version software is the
fact that the system could include multiple types of hardware using multiple versions of software.
The goal is to increase the diversity in order to avoid common mode failures. Using N version
software, it is encouraged that each different version be implemented in as diverse a manner as
possible, including different tool sets, different programming languages, and possibly different
environments. The various development groups must have as little interaction related to the
programming between them as possible. N version software can only be successful and
successfully tolerate faults if the required design diversity is met. The dependence on appropriate
specifications in N version software, (and recovery blocks,)

Prison Population Presentation Analysis
This week presentation was good. For the prison population, I knew a little bit from watching
TV. I love watching locked up and shows like that so the populations in prison didn t surprise
me. I have to say some of the more specific facts I didn t know too much about. Like age range,
sexual make up, crimes that are heavily arrested for. Over all I enjoyed it and will continue to
watch prisonbased shows.
I knew quite a bit about the female population. Being that I am female there were a few
situations that I related to and have personality experienced. I really enjoyed the activity where
we stepped up for what we have experienced in our lives. I think we all have more in common
than we will admit. We all can learn from each other and in time

Cyber space Nature of threat
Existing and potential threats in the area of cyber security are among the most critical challenges of
the 21st century. Threats emanate from a wide variety of sources, and manifest themselves in
disruptive activities that target individuals, businesses, national infrastructures, and governments
alike. Their effects carry significant risk for public safety, the security of nations and the stability of
the globally linked international community as a whole. Malicious use of information technology
can easily be concealed. The origin, identity of the perpetrator, or motivation for the disruption can
be difficult to ascertain. Often, the perpetrators of these activities can only be inferred from the
target, the effect or other circumstantial evidence. Threat actors can operate with substantial
impunity from virtually anywhere.
The motives for disruption vary widely, from simply demonstrating technical prowess, to the theft
of money or information, or as an extension of state

Theme Of Surrealism In The Simpsons
The Simpsons
Hurricane Neddy
The Simpsons is an American situation comedy created by Matt Groening. The first episode of
The Simpsons aired December 17, 1989. An exciting 24 million people tune in to watch The
Simpsons each week. On April 19th, 1987 after the shorts of The Simpsons were shown on The
Tracy Ullman Shown they developed it into a half hour prime time show. The episode I will be
focusing on is Hurricane Neddy which focuses on the character Ned Flanders as his family goes
through a rough time with his house being destroyed. The Simpsons uses several methods such as
surrealism, characterisation and satire to engage the audience by adding humour and furthering the
plot.

At the beginning of the episode when people are warned that there will be a hurricane, everyone
turns on each other by stealing, fighting and breaking things, for their own personal wealth, not
worrying about anyone else, the creators of the show purposefully exaggerate, this is in
reference to what would happen in anarchy, or post apocalyptic events, movies such as, The
Purge, Mad Max 2 and I am Legend cover this topic in more depth. Later in the episode, Ned
Flanders asks, why did the hurricane destroy only my house, I donate to 8 different churches and
follow everything the bible says. This is making fun of how much he heavily relies on the several
churches to bring him security and wealth, this pokes fun at the people in society think that giving
to a church or several different churches will grant them safety or wealth. Another satirical
moment was in Ned Flanders flashback to when he was young, when his parents couldn t control
him, because they didn t believe in rules, they went to a doctor and told him, we ve tried nothing
and we re all out of ideas. The creators of the show are making fun of the parents that don t
discipline their kids.
In conclusion the creators of The Simpsons use many different methods such as satire,
characterisation and surrealism. Surrealism creates unrealistic elements that could not happen in real

The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs
The purpose of this essay is to describe the challenges that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Indonesia has in the changing conditions, externally and internally, in the context of strategic
human resources management. This essay will take on the case of Batch 35 in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs which has the highest turnover rate compared to other batches before. The first
part will describe the importance of human resources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The
second part will describe current condition of human resources in the Ministry and the case of
Batch 35 where 7 out of 148 employees have resigned due to internal and external factors. The
third part will ask how the Ministry should evaluate the reasons to keep the employee turnover
rate low and figure out the better strategy to respond to the challenges in managing its human
resources. The Importance of Human Capital in Diplomacy Diplomacy is a field where people
cannot be replaced by machines like other fields, such as banking, immigration services, or goods
production. It is where people are the essential factor. Diplomacy has the main purpose of securing
foreign policies objectives without using force, propaganda, or law and consists of communication
between officials (Berridge, 2005, p.1). Lynda Gratton supports the view that people is the very
factor that determines a company s success. She argues that today only the people that can create

Integrating Technology Within The Classroom
Literature Review
In the last few decades, there has been a push for integrating technology within the classroom.
Technologies has become commonly associated with the activities of everyday life, as a result,
there has been increased pressure to include technology in classrooms, kindergarten through twelfth
grade since the 1980s. (page #?Grant et al., 2015). This technology push has only increased since
the last century; educators are no longer responsible for teaching the traditional reading, writing,
and arithmetic pedagogy of the past. In respect, students are no longer viewed in the same blank
slates, but as collaborators in their learning. This collaboration is effective in preparing students for
the job market of the future, in which these technologies will be ever present and constantly
changing.
In the 21st century, teachers and students have access to a constantly evolving series of
technologies which has facilitated a continued interest in how to use these types of technology in
educational environments. Through the incorporation of educational technology models and
theories, the practitioner s focus is specifically on how technology can be used to improve student
performance through processes, procedures, and tools. Processes and procedures may comprise any
task or intervention involving anything from a simple instructional strategy to a complex
instructional system.
(Wade et al., 2013).
However, successful integration of technology will only occur when

Power In Athens
Understanding the Role of Power in Athenian Justice and Morality In the era of the Peloponnesian
War, Athens commits numerous heinous acts to its subordinate city states: from the siege of Melos
to the slaughter at Corcyra, Athens in many cases refuses to show any sign of mercy. The Athenians
willingness to conduct these actions largely stems from a mindset which treats morality, justice,
and power as one and the same. While this mindset is, to an extent, innate to human nature and the
mentality of warfare in general, it is taken further than what would be considered normal in the case
of the Athenians. Particularly, Athens justifies its actions with a mentality which stems largely
from their capitalistic regard to power and hypocritical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pericles states that, now that military failure has befallen Athens, they have repented of [their]
action when things went badly. (Thuc 2.61). Athens followed Pericles in his decisions when they
seemed to bode well for them, but once their hubris and actions have led them to defeat, they
place the blame on Pericles. However, Pericles argues that [he is] the same as [he] was, and
[does] not alter; rather, it is Athens that has changed and left the responsibility on him. This
illuminates a theme of democracy, where the whole distributes guilt for their actions such that
ownership for their mistakes is not as readily felt, but when they lead to failure, the blame falls on
a scapegoat, even when they remain consistent in their viewpoint and when the blame actually lies
in the leadership as a whole. This lack of ownership for particular actions lends to the idea that
Athens refuses to recognize their deeds as unjust and indicative of any larger issue. The
distribution of responsibility in a democracy is but one of the ways in which Thucydides illustrates
the possible flaws in Athens

Protest For The National Anthem Of The United States
Emily Petrochuk Professor Psenicka English 102 31 October 2016 Protests to the National
Anthem of the United States A famous sports figure in history once said, I cannot stand and sing
the anthem. I cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy).
At first glance, this quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco
49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports
players who decided to follow suit, to the playing of the national anthem before football games.
However, this is not the case. The above quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never
Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an African American Baseball player (McKirdy).
Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie Robinson did when he sat on the bench
rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem before a preseason game against
the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the media following the game,
Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not going to stand up to
show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is
bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in
the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder (Wyche). Kaepernick explains
that he refused to stand for the national anthem because of the

The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe
During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague
swept across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The
Black Plague arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of
medieval citizens. Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from
the Black Plague, however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies
would develop in the following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The
essence of fourteenth century European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the
papacy asserted spiritual rule and every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs.
Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and killed one third to one half of the entire population,
people questioned God as to why He would kill entire towns across the continent. Communities
prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed a sin large enough to deserve such a disease,
however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were
spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the church had a schism which entailed three
popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a humanistic movement where people began to
turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals would further lead to a sixteenth century
reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The citizens of

Romeo And Juliet Caused By Actions
Was Romeo and Juliet s death caused by actions? Or was it just an unfortunate tragedy? In the
play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, the two star crossed lovers suffer one of
the most well known tragedies in English literature. A tragedy that ends their lives. However, the
tragedy that destroys Romeo and Juliet is their own fault. It was because of their own feeling of
love, unthought of decisions, and own marriage despite being enemies, that they both suffered the
consequence of their actions: death. Before meeting each other, Romeo and Juliet had others things
in mind. They each had their own life and worries, and had absolutely nothing to do with each
other. Romeo was depressed because of his unrequited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before this, Romeo and Juliet were frustrated with their lives and wanted nothing to do with
love. Romeo was depressed because Rosaline did not return his feelings. He was sad and had no
means of attending to the Capulet s party because of his grieving and broken heart. However, his
feelings changed when he saw Juliet at the party the night after. Did my heart love till now?
Forswear it, sight! For I ne er saw true beauty till this night. (I.v.50 51) Romeo was mesmerized
by Juliet since the first time he saw her, and his feelings immediately changed when he saw her.
All sense of sadness went away in less than a minute. Romeo was too immersed in his so called
love, that he did not even think about what could happen when he decided to go meet Juliet.
Even though he just met her, Romeo already fell in love with Juliet even without knowing her
name. This is a bit rushed, since he was only grieving the loss of Rosaline the day before, and he
seemed too down to even think about someone else. But now, he is completely in love with
Juliet despite having not met her. Juliet also reacted in a similar manner, but her love for Romeo
is only revealed after the party when she asked Nurse who he was. As the news of him being a
Montague came down, Juliet exclaimed her sorrow and love for the man known as her enemy. My
only love sprung from my only hate! (I.v.138) Here Juliet clearly says that her only love

Essay about Marxs Manifesto
Marx s theoretical work is the understanding of the nature of human beings and how they have
constructed their historical world. Marx is considered a modernist because his views and theories
fit the meaning of Modernity, which are human freedom and the right to free choice. To Marx,
Capitalism is a barrier to the notion of human freedomand choice. Five aspects of his political theory
are: how he views human nature, effects of Capitalism on human natures with emphasis on
significance of labor, class struggles within Capitalism, the demise of Capitalism and the need for
the transition to Communism.
Marx belief of human nature is that it changes over time; it is historical and dynamic. In
understanding human nature, it is important to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the result of Capitalism, labor has been under admonition and oppression. Instead of
picturing the world as it is, Capitalism pictures the world in a distorted view. A view that leads
to the alienation of the true meaning of human nature. The view that places the products of
laborers more important than the laborers themselves; thus the laborers are objectified. Laborers
then do not realize that they are the ones who are in control of the product that they produce.
Alienated labor hence turns the species existence of man, and also nature as his mental species
capacity, into an existence alien to him, into the means of his individual existence. The distorted
view leads to the miscognition of self of the working class who are cut off from their essential
powers. They fail to realize that the world is of their own making and that they have the ability
to create and recreate the world in which they live in. Marx s theory of privileging of economic
matters places an emphasis on class struggles that are related to the forces of production as well
as the relations of productions. Economics is the production of the exchange of goods and
services through labor arrangements. In every society there is a way to distribute goods and
services called a mode of production. The mode of production is the combination of the forces of
productions; like raw

Why Do Drugs Increase The Smooth ER In Cells
drugs increase the smooth ER in cells, which increases the detoxification rate, which increases a
person s tolerance to a drug. Which means that a person would have to increase the dosage each
time in order to get the same original effect. The increase of the smooth ER as a result of abusing a
drug can lead to increased tolerance of other useful drugs, such as antibiotics. Storing calcium ions
is another function of the smooth ER. These calcium ions can be used to trigger the contraction of
musclecells by being pumped in and out of the ER lumen. The release of calcium ions can also
stimulate other responses in different cell types, like secreting new protein vesicles. A function of
the rough ER is to make phospholipids and membranes and for

The Tempest By William Shakespeare And Mama Day By Gloria...
The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Mama Day by Gloria Naylor are two fantastic stories
that both belong to the genre magical realism, which is where magical elements are incorporated
into realistic fiction. Prospero the main character is robbed of Dukedom and marooned on an
island with his infant daughter where he meets natives and fire demons who do his bidding. Mama
Day the main character in Gloria Naylors novel is a no nonsense woman who uses her magic to
help the other residents of their island. Even though Naylor denies that Mama Day is modern
retelling of the Tempestit is hard not see that there are similarities between the stories. However,
there are some differences. Prospero takes justice into his own hands, just as the characters
around Mama Day take their situations into their own hands. They do not trust Mama Day s
ways until they are forced to ask for her help. Whereas Prospero and Miranda might seem like
parallel characters because they both use magic, Miranda knows its limits and uses it to help
others, while Prospero only discovers the limits of magic after he gives it up.
After breaking his staff and throwing his books into the sea, Prospero is left with little to no
power of his own. It is in his last speech in the play, in the epilogue, that he realizes that his magic
is nothing without outside help. He no longer has the outside power of his books and staffs to
make his magic work so he is weak and vulnerable. Prospero realizes he will never get off

Packaging can be defined as the materials used for the containment, protection, handling, delivery,
and presentation of goods (Murphy and Knemeyer, 2015). Promotion, protection, and identification
are the three general functions that packaging serves (Murphy and Knemeyer, 2015). Packaging is
perceived as a major environmental issue based on eighty percent of consumers (Murphy and
Knemery, 2015). Differing acceptable regulations across nations is a key problem when selecting
packaging material (Murphy and Knemeyer, 2015). Using environmentally packaging material is
one packaging strategy a firm can adopt (Murphy and Knemeyer, 2015).
The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games or LOCOG
presented ten key areas central to achieving sustainability. Packaging was a key area, with a main
focus of catering as they produced the majority of the packaging at the Games. Across all venues,
LOCOG aimed to achieve a seventy percent re use, recycling and composting goal. This was
thought to only be attainable by incorporating compostable packaging. The use of compostable
packaging would also increase the quality of the recyclable stream (Valpak, 2012).
With the help of a variety of shareholders, LOCOG created Packaging Guidelines to inform
suppliers of certain packaging criteria that were required in order to serve as a supplier for the 2012
Summer Olympic Games. Once completed in 2010, these Packaging Guidelines were included with

All Quiet On The Western Front, By Erich Maria Remarque
Throughout history, war between man has been nearly inevitable. The impact of war has always
been devastating on all aspects. However, loss in war is mostly seen within the loss of land,
wealth and the numbers of lives lost. There are few accounts of the true losses felt from war, the
loss felt by the survivors and the true cost of human life. In the excerpt from All Quiet on the
Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque, illustrates the impact on human life and question what
the cost of human life was impacted. While Vera Brittain memoir of Memory and Battlefield

Vera Brittain was an English writer who served as a nurse during World War I
. Nearly directly after
the war, tours of the battlefields began. Brittain goes on a tour in Italy in 1921 to find her
brother s gravesite. She recounts the pain she feels due to the loss of her brother, fiancГ© and
many if her friends. As she walks through the rows of graves on an Italian plateau, Brittain
describes the peaceful life her brother lived before the war. His life was calm and safe in an
uneventful town in England, but he ended up dying in an extremely bloody war in the country
sides of Italy. Brittain finds her brother s grave and is overcome with sadness, she wishes to stay
at her brother s side so she does not have to return to her trivial life as a survivor. She states that
at least there with her brother, there is a sense of peace and dignity that the survivors do not
have now. After the war, the people who survived were left without fathers or husbands and
there were very few people able to return to the work force. Within both excerpts, the pain felt
from war is showcased in a more personal way. It is not about the demographics of the loss but
how the war truly impacted the lives of people. While Remarque s excerpt focused more on the
suffering of the soldiers, he also makes it apparent that there will be suffering after the war. And

Filippo Brunelleschi Accomplishments
One of the world s most famous architects and engineers was born in the Italian city state of
Florence sometime in 1377. Although he had a huge influence on building design and
construction, and on art, we don t know a lot about Filippo Brunelleschi s early life. Nonetheless,
he left buildings and artwork that still exist today, and he had two biographers who provided
information about his work, from these we can learn a lot about this Renaissance genius. His most
important work, the ll Duomo di Firenze (the Dome of the FlorenceCathedral), was finished in 1436
and remains as one of the greatest symbols of the period. Before he started building this
revolutionary structure, Brunelleschi studied the architecture of Roman buildings and monuments....

Filippo Brunelleschi invented new technology for the dome and created far more advanced
technology to help the dome be built. He began studying the science of motion and particular
weights, wheels, and gears and it lead him to invent some of the first alarm clocks, as well as
some of the equipment to raise the bricks from the ground to the roof (King, 13). In addition,
Brunelleschi also made sure that the dome was being built to his standard and it was going to
last a long time. For example, he inspected every one of the four million bricks that he was going
to use for the structure. Another important quality of the dome was the mortar used to hold the
bricks together. It was made by mixing sand and water with quicklime (King, 93). The quality of
the bricks and mortar was only the beginning. He worked out how to set the bricks for the
greatest strength to support the weight of the dome by having them set in a criss crossing
herringbone pattern (Mueller, 84). The brickwork was crucial because the bricks needed to make
up the dome without any outside support. In order to do this Brunelleschi linked the bricks in a
spiral going up to the top, called a herringbone pattern. The vertical bricks acted as book ends to
keep the horizontal bricks in place. The ll Duomo di Firenze was built to be an eight sided dome
that stood taller and stronger than others during that time period.

Robot Movement Essay
Abstract Navigation movement of the robot is one of the most important parts in an intelligent
robot system. a lot of studies have done on avoiding trajectory, navigation and obstacle in the known
environment, but it is difficult to get, the optimum trajectory in the path in a known environment
this is one of the important parts of the robotic planning.
PRM use to direct the mobile robot to find the target with obstacle avoidance. This paper suggests
trajectory based on a probabilistic Roadmap (PRM) for an autonomous robot trajectory in a known
environment. To simulate and compare the robot motion path with other studies was simulated. The

Comparing The American Dream In The Last Tycoon And The...
The United States of America was built strictly upon values of freedom America s founding father
fought for and explicitly provided for, in their construction of the nation, principles of freedom.
Another cornerstone of the United States mentality is the American dream, the idea that, in
America, you can and should strive for success, monetary success. Freedom and the American
dream inform hundreds of years of political ideology and essential American thought; however, it
is widely accepted that these two aspects of American culture are one in the same. A person is

As Nick describes the route of his limousine ride around the the edge of New York City, he
writes, we take the limo all the way East and, like children who can barely swim and who run

The United States During The 19th Century
2. The U.S. used harsh, but appropriate, measures to civilize the inhabitants of the west.
In the 19th century, several different groups apart from Americans were harshly and forcefully
pushed Westward. Native Americans, Mexicans, and Chinese were groups of individuals who
from the viewpoint of America, threatened the American way of life in different types of aspects
varying from, religion, skin color, political systems, language, and types of government. This
groups of people were civilized by the United States, and used what was attainable in their hands to
control any opposing forces against the American societies way of living. In 1607, the commence
of Indians being pushed away into the west, and seized from their land first began.Throughout the
years the U.S would obtain vast amount of new lands, and Indians would continue to further be
pushed away. And it would not be until the 1800 s when they would be pushed into Mexican
territory. There they would first begin to integrate into society, which would later result in
mestizaje. Indians in the 19th century would undergo harsh measures from the U.S government
and its army since they were a form of threat to Americans. Indians would be known as, backwards,
barbaros, and barely human. The U.S would come to a realization that backwards would represent a
point of view that would violate their true nature of the universe, and what was believed to

The Dichotomy Between Aristophanes And Plato s Depictions
Socrates:
The Dichotomy between Aristophanes and Plato s Depictions
Ignorance: the condition of being uninformed or uneducated; this basic definition is crucial to
understanding one of the most controversial figures in ancient Athenian society: the philosopher
Socrates. The man s entire life was devoted to proving the fact that no one actually knew what they
thought they did; that everyone lived in ignorance. This viewpoint earned Socrates many enemies,
so many that even a renowned playwright, Aristophanes, decided to exploit the situation. He wrote
his critiquing play of Socrates called The Clouds; a scathing criticism that the philosopher would
partially attribute to his future indictment on charges of impiety and corrupting the ... Show more

The philosopher goes on to teach Strepsiades everything about the existence of Vortex, the god
that overthrew Zeus and also of the Clouds, the true arbiters of worldly learning (Clouds 250

Thinkery in order to have him learn the ways of the Clouds. In turn, Pheidippides embraces the
teachings of Socrates even more so than his father, becoming completely inundated in the
philosopher s teachings. He begins to beat his father, because according to Socrates s teachings,
it is a just thing to do (1322 1333). However, during the time in Ancient Greece, such an act was
forbidden by law. Pheidippides attempts to justify this to his father in the following passage:
PHEID: ...I will first ask you this: did you beat me when I was a boy? STREP: Yes, I did; I was
well intentioned and concerned for you. PHEID: Then tell me, isn t it also just for me likewise
to be well intentioned toward you and beat you? For why should your body be unchastised by
blows, but not mine? And in fact I too was born free... STREP: But nowhere is it the law that the
father suffer this. PHEID: Wasn t he who set down this law a man like you and me, and didn t he
persuade those of long ago by speaking? Is it any less allowable for me too, then, to set down in
turn for the future a novel law for sons to beat their fathers in return? As for the blows that we

The Codes Of Ethics And Ethics In Engineering
Introduction
Ethics
Ethics can be best defined as the analysis of the traits of moral or social which includes the social
selections of a person as they communicate with people. Ethics should be highly considered by
engineers and engineers should be mindful of it as they are making professional decisions in the
field of engineering. Ethics is divided into two, some are preventive and others promote welfare to
the society.
Engineering ethics Engineers as professionals are governed by some rules and standards that are
related closely to ethics. Engineering ethics is described as the rules and standard that controls the
management of engineers as professionals, or the application of a series of scientific discipline in
the field of engineering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no clear cut solution to a single problem or a case study; however, there are many right
solutions to it. Various solutions can be made to an ethical problem, as it resembles the open ended
engineering design problems.
Codes of ethics Multiple professional engineering societies have managed to initiate some codes of
ethics. The roles of the codes are to provide bodywork for an engineer in making ethical judgement.
Apart from that, these codes demonstrate the rights, responsibilities and the commitments of the
engineers. It also assists the engineers by providing a starting point to make any ethical decision.
Since the codes of ethics are not legal documents, disobeying its provisions will not result in taken
into custody or imprisonment. However, the person who violates it may be expelled from a
professional society, such as National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and American

Nt1310 Unit 1 Exercise 1 Activity 2
A sound wave is a disturbance that repeats regularly in space and time and that transmits energy
from one place to another with no transfer of matter. In Activity 2 on page 8 we had to model
sound waves using an instrument. In our class we used a flute as the example and when the person
blew into it, soundwaves were produced. As they blew and changed the volume and pitch the sound
waves changed. A sound waveis created when something vibrates. When something vibrates,
longitudinal waves are created which we can hear. A longitudinal wave is a wave that transfers
energy through compressions and rarefactions in the material that the wave travels which are all
parts of a sound wave. In Activity 2 it states in some parts of the wave, the air molecules... Show

These parts make up the sound waves and they travel through a medium which is the material that
a wave energy travels through. On page 10 in Activity 2 we had to fill out the table on how to
make a louder sound and we learned that to have a louder sound the compressions have to be larger
and to increase the frequency the compressions also had to be larger. When we did the activity
with the slinkies this was the case because when we had more compressions the sound was
louder and the frequency increased. In Activity 1 on page 4 we learned that sound intensity is
how much sound energy passes through a certain area in a certain amount of time as it spreads
out from the source. Decibels are a unit of measure that indicates the relative intensity of a
sound. In Activity 1 on page 5 when we were looking at the table it showed us that as the sound
intensity increases the decibel increases because the decibel measured how intense the sound
was. According to the chart on page 4 the decibels at a quiet library is 40 dB and the relative
intensity is 1000, however if the noise source is some explosions then the decibels is 160 and the

The Mower By Philip Larkin
The Mower Analysis Essay The poem The Mower by Philip Larkin is short a yet complex poem
that addresses a large and important theme in a simple and beautiful way. This poem has a main
theme of kindness and carefulness; a central theme that occurs in many of Larkin s poems.
Philip Larkin was an english poet born in august of 1922 and rose to fame in 1955 with his
second book of poems. Larkin utilizes literary devices and pauses to explain how we should be
kind, friendly and careful of a all living things while we have the chance. The inspiration behind
this poem came to Larkin when he had the the very same experience as described in the poem; he
killed a hedgehog with his lawnmower. This poem is the product of that experience and it shares
Larkins thoughts on how each and every person should act. By understanding the context in which
the poem was written it is much easier to understand the meaning and theme that the poet was
trying to get across. With the knowledge of when and how Larkin wrote this poem we can infer
that that the central theme really is being kind and friendly to all creature before we run out of time.

`` Two Kinds `` By Amy Tan And The Rocking Horse Winner Essay
The Cusp of Success
A common theme we see in the two stories, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, and The Rocking Horse
Winner by D.H Lawrence is the detrimental effects that a forcing a bar of success can have on
developing adolescents. Recognizing that the product of success is generally good, clouds the
notion that there is in fact a wide range of effects that chasing success can bring about. Some of
these effects have positive repercussions, teaching adolescents discipline and work ethic.
However, some of the effects are quite negative, especially in those that are too young to truly
care for themselves. Forcing a cusp of success on adolescents indirectly in The Rocking Horse
Winner or directly in Two Kinds pushes the children to achieve the impossible resulting in a
breaking point in the adolescent characters. Paul is infatuated with luck for after being convinced
that luck is the bane of his father and family he feels as if he is responsible for maintaining his
family s happiness with the success that his luck brings. Whispers that creep through his house are
whispers of depression and doubt that plague Paul driving him forwards thus he states, I started it
for mother. She said she had no luck, because father is unlucky, so I thought if I was lucky, it might
stop the whispering (Lawrence 8). Paul finds himself encumbered with the burden of maintaining a

The Copyright Clause Of The State Of Washington Should...
The Supreme Court has tried to explain that the Copyright Clause of the Constitution was intended
to establish independent, entrepreneurial, self sustaining authorship and publishing as the means
of serving the public interest in securing the production of valuable literary and scientific works.
To that one must ask what are the consequences of remix? When I think about it remixing has
left a positive and inferior aspect of life for many people. When people are able to steal or copy
the work of an individual without any consequence they are sending a clear message saying that
they are free of the law. Therefore, I propose that the copyrightoffice of the state of Washington
should change the copyright policy of remixing so that it may benefit more people than just the
original artist.
What are the common consequences of remixing? According to Jenkins, The rise of disco culture
in the 70s inspired producers to cut longer extended versions of singles so club patrons could weed
out the songs they liked for more than the usual three to four minutes (Jenkins). I believe that if true
artists fear that their music may be remixed then they may not do it to their best ability. Now,
imitation/remixing in art is not only all right, but it is encouraged, and using someone else s sound,
idea, etc. is considered flattery. According to UC Davis professor of law Thomas W. Joo said,
Most copyright scholars agree that this power is inimical to semiotic democracy and that reforming

In 1996 President Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) into federal law.
The purpose of DOMA was to place a federal legal definition on marriage. DOMA defined
marriage in federal law as only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and
wife, and the word spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife
(1 U.S.C. 7). The act allowed for states to recognize or grant homosexual couples the right to
marriage but prevented those same couples from receiving the federal benefits of marriage. It
also amended The Full Faith and Credit Statute to include the provision that No State, territory,
or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public
act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a
relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such
other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship. This
indicates that if one State passes legislation that allows same sex couples to marry, corresponding
States are not legally bound to recognize the marriage. Furthermore, since under the eyes of the
federal government marriage is legally between a man and a woman the States cannot be forced or

Analysis of Sonnet 75 (Amoretti) by Edmund Spenser
Sonnet 75 is taken from Edmund Spenser s poem Amoretti which was published in 1595. The
poem has been fragmented into 89 short sonnets that combined make up the whole of the poem.
The name Amoretti itself means little notes or little cupids. This poem is said to have been written
on Spenser s love affair and eventual marriage to Elizabeth Boyle, his second wife. Sonnet 75
centers on the immortality of spiritual love and the temporality of physical love.
In the seventy fifth sonnet of Amoretti, the line scheme of three quatrains and a rhyming couplet is
employed. The rhyme scheme is the typical Spenserian sonnet format of the first quatrain being

Normally, nature is associated with the female entity because both are responsible for giving and

because of the malignant role it is playing.
Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 75 from Amorreti is not only an exquisite piece of Elizabethan times, it
portrays the quintessential poetry of the time as well. His optimal employment of literary techniques
of form, rhyme, imagery, personification and alliteration give the sonnet a wholesome structure and
an pleasant quality.

This procedure required us to first obtain our starting oil or fat (vegetable oil, olive oil, and lard)
and place it into a beaker. Then we had to add 6 M sodium hydroxide and glycerol drop by drop
while continuously stirring the solution. Once the solution was stirred thoroughly, it then
needed to be brought to a boil until it became pasty. In order to turn the solution into a paste, we

Tyson, Timothy B. Blood Done Sign My Name. New York: Broadway Books, 2004.
Timothy B. Tyson, born 1959, had a unique childhood as the son of a Methodist minister who
supported the civil rights movement. He accepted his parents liberal attitude, and struggled to
reconcile it with the society around him that of white supremacy and black oppression. Later, he

sides. Both online reviews give Tyson more limelight as part of a central idea in the book. They
don t touch on details of how Marrow s trial changed the movement in Oxford, but they do agree
that the book is a powerful revival of the struggling and violent truth that came with civil

Factors Affecting The Human Capacity
Introduction:
The experiment involves test subjects with different heights blowing into same elasticity
balloons in one breath to discover if there are any correlations between human s vital capacity
and height. This experiment is categorized as biology as vital capacity is due to lungs and lungs
are organs in a human body. Vital capacity is the amount of air that can be forcibly expelled from
the lungs after breathing in as deeply as possible. The vital capacity is about 4,800 mL (4.8L) for
an average human, which is the total amount of air that can be expired after fully inhaling. The
vital capacity is= approximately 80 percent of total lung capacity. = Tidal volume + inspiratory
reserve volume + expiratory reserve volume The total lung capacity (TLC) is the volume of air
contained in the lungs after maximal inspiration plus residual volume and for an average male is
around 6000ml (6L). To remain a fair test, many factors could affect one s vital capacity.
Pregnancy for woman would decreases her vital capacity as during pregnancy the diaphragm is
compressed by the uterus, which decreases total lung capacity. Pulmonary diseases such as asthma,
Bronchitis, Common Cold, Lung cancer and other diseases can also affect vital capacity. Asthma
restricts the airway allowing less air to pass through to their lungs which unable their lungs to
stretch as much. Previous researches has shown woodwind and digeridoo players have larger lung
capacity due to their experience and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mud And Stone
hapter 5.Solutions Beyond the Ordinary: Adaptations and Alternatives
5.1Advantages and Adaptations of Mud and Stone
The use of mud and stone is mainly due to affordability. They cannot manage construction
completely without cement. They use it for the plinths and foundations. They have used lime
wherever possible but over the years lime plaster has proven difficult to maintain.
This shows that it is practically impossible for them to construct purely out of mud and stone.
What is interesting is the use of steel in combination with wattle and daub in Proto Village. In the
dome house they have used a geodesic steel framework over which they have filled alternate
triangles in with wattle and daub.
This concept can be taken even further and could possible lead to the construction of large span
mud structures.
The main problem they are facing is roofing materials. Thatch roofs are the most practical for this
weather and budget but they also require a lot of maintenance. Another option would be to continue
using aluminium sheeting but this will have to be insulated properly.
The roofing methods that are currently being used are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A layer of wire mesh is used over the galvanised iron sheet before laying the reinforcement of the
framing beams which are welded to the J hooks used to anchor the sheets. This ensures that the
concrete does not fill the valleys of the galvanized iron sheets and the air gap provides thermal
insulation. The framing beams are then concreted to accommodate the infill material such as lean
concrete or stabilized mud. This can then be clad with clay tiles, broken ceramic bars or slate
depending on the availability of materials in the region. Effectively the concrete is used as a quilt
over the internally secure waterproof diaphragm and assumes a secondary use. Galvalum sheets
can be used in coastal regions where corrosion is a serious concern owing to

Police Rights Research Paper
During a preseason National Football League (NFL) game where the San Francisco 49 ers were
visiting the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers), starting quarterback Colin
Kaepernick decides to take a knee during the National Anthem. This one act set off a firestorm
that has echoed deep in the core of the American conscious. It began to show the differences of
this country in a new light. If human differences have their place, so also does divine unity. For
those who are in relationship with God, this unity must, because of God s nature, have precedence
over diversity, shares Okholm. What the root of this protest by Kaepernick? What did it say about
racial matters, and what fears did it drum up among people? These questions will be... Show more

Rah reference of Dr. Martin Luther King s letter, shows, The deep levels of racism, cultural
insensitivity, and cultural incompetence have yielded a deep seated rift between different
communities in the United States. Not only have explicit examples of racism generated animosity
and mistrust, but implicit approval of racism and a passive inactivity toward injustice have
perpetuated the racial divide. The knee goes deeper as this divide happens in America.
When the knee goes deeper, what did it say about racial matters? If the justice system had been
fair in its assessments of the incidents that happened across America, there would not be a
movement of black lives matter. If the justice system would have shown that all lives matter
when an officer is negligent with the discharge of their weapons against a twelve year old boy
playing with a toy gun in a park, and then found not negligible, all lives did not matter. In the
documentary, The Color of Fear, Victor makes a good analogy about the white experience. Victory
states, What is the white experience? When I look at you manifesting your white experience, I also
see you not naming it. I see you just want to blur the distinction between just being a person and
also most particularly being a white person and what that means. Regrettably, Victor s statement
shows that people of color are invisible to whites. Not to misunderstand, this is the view from
people of color. This shows

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as
they face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is
given the same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and
hunger for power lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a
detrimental effect on his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a
range of effective film techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to
communicate the idea that ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall.
Throughout the film, Boyle uses the varying stages of Salim s life through... Show more content on

This in itself begins to twist and corrupt Salim as he is trying to become powerful by acting
controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as
they consider him, controlling and greedy almost like he s Maman s pet . Boyle s use of these
film techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this
hunger for power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim,
moulding Salim into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s
adolescents as his childish naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is
brought about by the denial of his childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a
lot due to the effects of the tough life he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed
to the back of his mind, but these forgotten memories are constantly biting at the back of his
thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and his hunger for power. Salim is face to face
with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a dutch angle is used to show the
confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not seen each other for years and
Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid shot together. Salim is no

The purpose of this paper is to critique the article that s about challenges to modern day parenting and analyze three weaknesses and one strength, as well as give an opinion on the topic. Summary (1st level) The article starts off with discussing how very unlikely it is that you will see different scenes of children playing outside such as riding their bikes, playing tag outside, or simply working together out in the yard. ... She concludes by saying that we must provide them with more than opportunities for competing, skill learning, and socializing so they continue growing as individuals (Peirce, 2002, p. 42). Critical Analysis (1st level) Weaknesses 1 (2nd level) The first weakness that is found is in some cases the author overgeneralized people and findings. With that being said, this is a flaw because the author is generalizing all the children and parents during almost the whole entire article. This may pose a problem for the reader because the readers may be thinking, Well, that s not the case in my life or I never did that as a child. The author needs to recognize that not all children and parents is that the studies and experiences don t apply to everyone. The paper needs to acknowledge that most children are like this not all, then give specifics of who, where, and when. For example, she overgeneralizes in the beginning of the research article by starting off that asking a question on where children are and what they are doing. She gives examples that they are in day care centers, playing Play Station, watching TV, and that they re not enjoying a casual conversation. She says that parenting for us is providing them with things like those earlier examples stated to keep them busy (Pierce, 2002, p. 39). She uses the words us and children. Not some, children or ... • 3. Fuzzy Logic Based N Version Programming For Improving... Fuzzy logic based N Version Programming for improving Software Fault Tolerance Introduction: The N version software concept attempts to parallel the traditional hardware fault tolerance concept of N way redundant hardware. In an N version software system, each module is made with up to N different implementations. Each variant accomplishes the same task, but hopefully in a different way. Each version then submits its answer to voter or decider which determines the correct answer, (hopefully, all versions were the same and correct,) and returns that as the result of the module. This system can hopefully overcome the design faults present in most software by relying upon the design diversity concept. An important distinction in N version software is the fact that the system could include multiple types of hardware using multiple versions of software. The goal is to increase the diversity in order to avoid common mode failures. Using N version software, it is encouraged that each different version be implemented in as diverse a manner as possible, including different tool sets, different programming languages, and possibly different environments. The various development groups must have as little interaction related to the programming between them as possible. N version software can only be successful and successfully tolerate faults if the required design diversity is met. The dependence on appropriate specifications in N version software, (and recovery blocks,) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the beginning of the episode when people are warned that there will be a hurricane, everyone turns on each other by stealing, fighting and breaking things, for their own personal wealth, not worrying about anyone else, the creators of the show purposefully exaggerate, this is in reference to what would happen in anarchy, or post apocalyptic events, movies such as, The Purge, Mad Max 2 and I am Legend cover this topic in more depth. Later in the episode, Ned Flanders asks, why did the hurricane destroy only my house, I donate to 8 different churches and follow everything the bible says. This is making fun of how much he heavily relies on the several churches to bring him security and wealth, this pokes fun at the people in society think that giving to a church or several different churches will grant them safety or wealth. Another satirical moment was in Ned Flanders flashback to when he was young, when his parents couldn t control him, because they didn t believe in rules, they went to a doctor and told him, we ve tried nothing and we re all out of ideas. This essay will take on the case of Batch 35 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which has the highest turnover rate compared to other batches before. The first part will describe the importance of human resources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The second part will describe current condition of human resources in the Ministry and the case of Batch 35 where 7 out of 148 employees have resigned due to internal and external factors. The third part will ask how the Ministry should evaluate the reasons to keep the employee turnover rate low and figure out the better strategy to respond to the challenges in managing its human resources. It is where people are the essential factor. Diplomacy has the main purpose of securing foreign policies objectives without using force, propaganda, or law and consists of communication between officials (Berridge, 2005, p.1). Technologies has become commonly associated with the activities of everyday life, as a result, there has been increased pressure to include technology in classrooms, kindergarten through twelfth grade since the 1980s. (page #?Grant et al., 2015). This technology push has only increased since the last century; educators are no longer responsible for teaching the traditional reading, writing, and arithmetic pedagogy of the past. In respect, students are no longer viewed in the same blank slates, but as collaborators in their learning. This collaboration is effective in preparing students for the job market of the future, in which these technologies will be ever present and constantly changing. In the 21st century, teachers and students have access to a constantly evolving series of technologies which has facilitated a continued interest in how to use these types of technology in educational environments. Through the incorporation of educational technology models and theories, the practitioner s focus is specifically on how technology can be used to improve student performance through processes, procedures, and tools. Processes and procedures may comprise any task or intervention involving anything from a simple instructional strategy to a complex instructional system. (Wade et al., 2013). Power In Athens Understanding the Role of Power in Athenian Justice and Morality In the era of the Peloponnesian War, Athens commits numerous heinous acts to its subordinate city states: from the siege of Melos to the slaughter at Corcyra, Athens in many cases refuses to show any sign of mercy. The Athenians willingness to conduct these actions largely stems from a mindset which treats morality, justice, and power as one and the same. While this mindset is, to an extent, innate to human nature and the mentality of warfare in general, it is taken further than what would be considered normal in the case of the Athenians. Particularly, Athens justifies its actions with a mentality which stems largely from their capitalistic regard to power and hypocritical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pericles states that, now that military failure has befallen Athens, they have repented of [their] action when things went badly. (Thuc 2.61). However, Pericles argues that [he is] the same as [he] was, and [does] not alter; rather, it is Athens that has changed and left the responsibility on him. This illuminates a theme of democracy, where the whole distributes guilt for their actions such that ownership for their mistakes is not as readily felt, but when they lead to failure, the blame falls on a scapegoat, even when they remain consistent in their viewpoint and when the blame actually lies in the leadership as a whole. This lack of ownership for particular actions lends to the idea that Athens refuses to recognize their deeds as unjust and indicative of any larger issue. I cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit, to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. • 12. The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague swept across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The Black Plague arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of medieval citizens. Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from the Black Plague, however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies would develop in the following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The essence of fourteenth century European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the papacy asserted spiritual rule and every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs. Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and killed one third to one half of the entire population, people questioned God as to why He would kill entire towns across the continent. Communities prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed a sin large enough to deserve such a disease, however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the church had a schism which entailed three popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a humanistic movement where people began to turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals would further lead to a sixteenth century reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the result of Capitalism, labor has been under admonition and oppression. Instead of picturing the world as it is, Capitalism pictures the world in a distorted view. A view that leads to the alienation of the true meaning of human nature. The view that places the products of laborers more important than the laborers themselves; thus the laborers are objectified. Laborers then do not realize that they are the ones who are in control of the product that they produce. Alienated labor hence turns the species existence of man, and also nature as his mental species capacity, into an existence alien to him, into the means of his individual existence. The distorted view leads to the miscognition of self of the working class who are cut off from their essential powers. They fail to realize that the world is of their own making and that they have the ability to create and recreate the world in which they live in. The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Mama Day by Gloria Naylor are two fantastic stories that both belong to the genre magical realism, which is where magical elements are incorporated into realistic fiction. Prospero the main character is robbed of Dukedom and marooned on an island with his infant daughter where he meets natives and fire demons who do his bidding. Mama Day the main character in Gloria Naylors novel is a no nonsense woman who uses her magic to help the other residents of their island. Filippo Brunelleschi invented new technology for the dome and created far more advanced technology to help the dome be built. He began studying the science of motion and particular weights, wheels, and gears and it lead him to invent some of the first alarm clocks, as well as some of the equipment to raise the bricks from the ground to the roof (King, 13). In addition, Brunelleschi also made sure that the dome was being built to his standard and it was going to last a long time. For example, he inspected every one of the four million bricks that he was going to use for the structure. Another important quality of the dome was the mortar used to hold the bricks together. It was made by mixing sand and water with quicklime (King, 93). The quality of the bricks and mortar was only the beginning. He worked out how to set the bricks for the greatest strength to support the weight of the dome by having them set in a criss crossing herringbone pattern (Mueller, 84). The brickwork was crucial because the bricks needed to make up the dome without any outside support. In order to do this Brunelleschi linked the bricks in a spiral going up to the top, called a herringbone pattern. The vertical bricks acted as book ends to keep the horizontal bricks in place. The ll Duomo di Firenze was built to be an eight sided dome that stood taller and stronger than others during that time period. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Activity 2 on page 8 we had to model sound waves using an instrument. In our class we used a flute as the example and when the person blew into it, soundwaves were produced. As they blew and changed the volume and pitch the sound waves changed. A sound waveis created when something vibrates. When something vibrates, longitudinal waves are created which we can hear. When we did the activity with the slinkies this was the case because when we had more compressions the sound was louder and the frequency increased. Decibels are a unit of measure that indicates the relative intensity of a sound. In Activity 1 on page 5 when we were looking at the table it showed us that as the sound intensity increases the decibel increases because the decibel measured how intense the sound was. The Supreme Court has tried to explain that the Copyright Clause of the Constitution was intended to establish independent, entrepreneurial, self sustaining authorship and publishing as the means of serving the public interest in securing the production of valuable literary and scientific works. To that one must ask what are the consequences of remix? When I think about it remixing has left a positive and inferior aspect of life for many people. When people are able to steal or copy the work of an individual without any consequence they are sending a clear message saying that they are free of the law. Therefore, I propose that the copyrightoffice of the state of Washington should change the copyright policy of remixing so that it may benefit more people than just the original artist. What are the common consequences of remixing? According to Jenkins, The rise of disco culture in the 70s inspired producers to cut longer extended versions of singles so club patrons could weed out the songs they liked for more than the usual three to four minutes (Jenkins). I believe that if true artists fear that their music may be remixed then they may not do it to their best ability. Now, imitation/remixing in art is not only all right, but it is encouraged, and using someone else s sound, idea, etc. is considered flattery. According to UC Davis professor of law Thomas W. Joo said, Most copyright scholars agree that this power is inimical to semiotic democracy and that reforming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Factors Affecting The Human Capacity Introduction: The experiment involves test subjects with different heights blowing into same elasticity balloons in one breath to discover if there are any correlations between human s vital capacity and height. This experiment is categorized as biology as vital capacity is due to lungs and lungs are organs in a human body. Vital capacity is the amount of air that can be forcibly expelled from the lungs after breathing in as deeply as possible. The vital capacity is about 4,800 mL (4.8L) for an average human, which is the total amount of air that can be expired after fully inhaling. The vital capacity is= approximately 80 percent of total lung capacity. = Tidal volume + inspiratory reserve volume + expiratory reserve volume The total lung capacity (TLC) is the volume of air contained in the lungs after maximal inspiration plus residual volume and for an average male is around 6000ml (6L). To remain a fair test, many factors could affect one s vital capacity. Pregnancy for woman would decreases her vital capacity as during pregnancy the diaphragm is compressed by the uterus, which decreases total lung capacity. Pulmonary diseases such as asthma, Bronchitis, Common Cold, Lung cancer and other diseases can also affect vital capacity.
