Filippo Brunelleschi invented new technology for the dome and created far more advanced
technology to help the dome be built. He began studying the science of motion and particular
weights, wheels, and gears and it lead him to invent some of the first alarm clocks, as well as
some of the equipment to raise the bricks from the ground to the roof (King, 13). In addition,
Brunelleschi also made sure that the dome was being built to his standard and it was going to

The Seventh day Advent Church is a movement within Christianity that begun in the early 1800s.
The movement emerged from the larger Millerite movement. William Miller, a Baptist convert,
coined the interpretation of the prophecies concerning Christ s Second Advent. Miller used
different Bible principles in the interpretation of the prophecy. Based on his final analysis, the
Second Advent was to take place on 22nd October 1844. Miller preached the message across the
U.S. and many converts gave their lives to Christ. Those who subscribed to his teachings formed

The goal of this experiment was to synthesize and test different soaps and detergents so that it
can be determined which one would be the most environmentally friendly. In order to do so, we
had five specific goals. The first goal was to determine the solubility of the starting materials and
each soap and detergent. The second goal was to compare the desirable properties of each soapand
detergent that was made. For the third goal we had to determine the environmental impact of each
of the soaps, detergents, and wastewaters. Then we had to conclude what was causing the scum

In order to produce the three soaps, we used a general procedure given to us by the lab manual1.
This procedure required us to first obtain our starting oil or fat (vegetable oil, olive oil, and lard)
and place it into a beaker. Then we had to add 6 M sodium hydroxide and glycerol drop by drop
while continuously stirring the solution. Once the solution was stirred thoroughly, it then
needed to be brought to a boil until it became pasty. In order to turn the solution into a paste, we
placed the beaker onto a Bunsen burner and continuously mixed the solution. Once the solution
formed a paste, we then let the paste cool. After cooling we added saturated sodium chloride and
ice to the mixture, while stirring vigorously. Afterwards we needed to filter the soap by using
vacuum filtration. While performing the filtration, we also needed to wash the soap with two
portions of cold water. After the filtration was complete we had to save each filtrate for future
use. In order to save the filtrate, it was placed into a small beaker. Finally, the soaps now needed to
