The Fall Sioux City Crash
The essay will be discussing about the failure of mankind due to inefficient engineering projects. It
will also explain , the major cause of each disaster and its effect on the surroundings.
The 1989 Sioux city crash :
Introduction:
John Fielder s The 1989 Sioux City Crash talks about the moral issues of a tail motor outline and
contrasts the DC 10 and other flying machine . As in alternate mishaps , loss of the motor ought not
have brought about loss of the airplane however , as in alternate mischances , consequent harm to the
DC 10 s control framework prompted the accident. Fielder. J.H,(1992).
Causes:
Debate proceeds with today over the DC 10 s security as a result of the 1989 accident of United
Airlines Flight 232 in Sioux City , Iowa , in which 111 individuals passed on . Inquiries have again
been raised about the sufficiency of assurance for the control frameworks in the DC 10 . The National
Transportation Safety Board Report on the 1989 Sioux City Crash found that the reason for the
mischance was a metallurgical blemish in the fan gathering of the back motor. A split in the 370 pound
fan plate began from the defect and in the end made it crumble . Trash from the blast separated all
water driven lines , denying the pilot of control over the flying surfaces on the tail and wings . the
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report additionally portrays the shortcomings of the
examination of an airplane with little insurance of its

The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands
Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and the
Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips were
planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had traveled
collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be explored in this
time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific Islands one of
humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began their journey before
the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration routes stemming from
Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous accomplishment for
mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey was made are still a
debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia and New Guinea from
Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is hard to ascertain as it appears
after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that melted had drowned large
stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage scientists and making it certain that
the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong
enough and advanced far beyond the technology norm at the time, in order to survive such a journey,
settlements of these early

Qfd3 Case Study
Qfd1 (labeled as Qbws1 on the chart) was found at River Mile 189.5 preserved between a Black
Ledge lava dam remnant and a basalt flow. The base of the deposit was 110m above the current river
level while the top of the deposit was 170 m above the current river level. The clasts were 92% basalt
and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came from the same
lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6 m diameter
limestone boulder. Based on age and pattern of REE, Qfd1 deposits seemed to have correlated with
the dam produced by the Upper Prospect lava flows (Fenton et al. (2004)). While the Toroweap Dam
correlated in age to Qfd1, its REE pattern did not align in a parallel ... Show more content on

It was composed primarily of gravels, basalts, and glass. The basalts and glasses in Qfd3 did not seem
to be related based on the La/Sm ratio while their Gd/Lu ratios were somewhat similar. Qfd3 deposits
were complicating in correlating to a specific dam to the fact that the presence of extralocal river
gravels and quartz in the lower parts of the deposition could indicate two separate flooding events.
One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and Gd/Lu was similar to the REE
pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the Toroweap Dam could have emplaced
the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis
with the most consistent result is that the failure of a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked
the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of
Qfd3 glasses. This hypothesis is consistent with the REE chart thus this explanation is seen as a strong
candidate. Qfd4 deposits overlie Massive Diabase Dam remnants, Whitmore Cascade flow remnants,
and a lava dam remnant between River Miles 189.5 and

Compare And Contrast Young Goodman Brown And The Man In...
Within Nathaniel Hawthorne and Stephen King s short stories Young Goodman Brown and The Man
in the Black Suit , readers follow two protagonists as they have a encounter with the devil. The devil is
presented differently with each of the novels through elements such as appearance, goals and
language. Both protagonists, each who is quite innocent, is affected by these features in some way.
The first element that readers may notice when analyzing each novel is that the devil within both
stories has a unstated yet clear goal, to change the protagonists view and beliefs in a negative way. He,
however does not accomplish this goal within both of the stories. The devil in Hawthorne s very much
so accomplishes his. The protagonist within the story, Goodman Brown, was forever changed after his
encounter with the devil. He became quite bitter and he no longer saw the good within the people of
his community. When walking into his town the following morning after his encounter with the devil,
Goodman acts quite odd. When the minister attempts to bestow a blessing upon Goodman; Goodman
revolts back from the minister as if to avoid an anathema (Hawthorne 8). Also, when noticing that his
fiance saw him and was skipping over to give him a kiss, Goodman looked sternly and sadly into her
face and passed on without a greeting (Hawthorne 9). The devil ruins Goodmans view of people and
the world, thus accomplishing his goal. Unlike Hawthorne s, the devil in Kings story doesn t achieve

United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower s Atom For...
Speech Analysis
United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower Atoms for peace speech was delivered on December 8,
1953 (during the Cold War) to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, due to the end
of World War II and the attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the development of nuclear weapons were
rapidly increasing and therefore, destroying the nation. I will analyze this historical speech according
to the five cannons of rhetoric.
Invention:
Eisenhower s goal was to explain the necessity of using the way by which the miraculous
inventiveness of man shall not be dedicated to his death, but consecrated to his life. Using nuclear
technology for peace instead of destruction without intending to start a war but as a preventative
measure and a symbol of strength. Dwight D. Eisenhower says But the dread secret and the fearful
engines of atomic might are not ours alone applying pathos as his rhetorical strategy by using loaded
language and evoking emotions from his audience giving them knowledge that not only our allies, but
also our enemies, knew of the power of atomic ammunition. He uses hard evidence as well as logos to
gain credibility from his audience, by reminding them and providing evidence that on July 19, 1945,
the United States set off the world s first atomic explosion . This showed the importance of the
accomplishment in American history. The speech took place in the United Nations Headquarters in
New York City.

Patriotism and Its Meaning Essay
Patriotism and Its Meaning
In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States we are seeing many
forms of Patriotism. I was suprised to find when I researched this word that it had a negative feeling
associated with it. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country, standing
up for what you believe in, and fighting for our individual free will and independence.
I am proud of my country and I am not ashamed to fly the American Flag. Many men and women
have died to give me the freedoms that I take for granted. I applaud their patriotism, and I thank them
for giving me my way of life. I will support them in protecting my country. I will try to elect officials

I hope that you, as an American citizen will learn about your government and actively support it, by
voting, writing your congressmen, and making a difference for peace.
In standing up for what I believe in, I will not be ignorant of other people. I can be assertive in my
beliefs without trying to impose them on my fellow citizens. America stands for diversity and to have
patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do
not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little
spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some
particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings
inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill
and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for
fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do.
We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people
would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early
Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would
do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. When I am deciding what I think of

Sneakers History
When were the modern sneakers introduced? It seems like they ve been around forever! This is
actually true! As stated in paragraph one of The History of Sneakers; the Maya, Olmecs, And Aztecs
of Central and South America made their own version of rubber soled shoes 3,000 years ago. This
means, sneakers haven t been around just these past hundred years, but really as long as humans
themselves. The modern sneaker, which was developed in England in 1830, at a place called, The New
Liverpool Rubber Company. The top part of the sneaker was made of heavy canvas, which over time,
has been replaced with nylon mesh. Nylon is a lighter fabric, so the feet can breathe easier. As for the
bottom it s just the small old, rubber sole. The rubber part of the sole may have not changed but some
parts of it sure have! Inside of the sole, there is now, foam cushion insides, that absorb shock. Modern

Man Behind the Sneaker, stated. Now, almost 80 years later, kids and adults alike still wear their

Overpopulation Of Sydney
Sydney, capital of New South Wales and one of Australia s largest cities, is best known for its

the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and
esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower s outdoor platform, the Sky walk, offers 360
degree views of the city and suburbs. There are many problems in Sydney Australia but the main one
which could eventually be a major problem is overpopulation. Sydney since 1971 to 2000 increased 1
million which may not seem like a lot but that a bunch of people. The things that is most worrisome is
the fact in half that time another million will be added to sydney s population. Over the course of 20

This would help the population by keeping non residents from settling in the city. Birth control would

A Knight s Tale Identity
Why fit in when you are born to stand out Dr. Seuss. Who are we really? Is there a predestined role we

do we know if who we are is who we are supposed to be? It is hard to tell if the life we are living it the
one we should be, but it is even harder to understand if we are the person we are meant to be. In the
movie, A Knight s Tale, the main character William Thatcher, also known as Ulrich von Liechtenstein,

person you were meant to be? Would you put yourself at risk for this dream? William from the very

medieval times, Jousting, sword play, and other events were not for everyone. Peasants were not

The Israelites From Genesis 2-3
The passage from Genesis 1 9 that drew my interest most was the first story of creation in Genesis 1.
This creation story implies that God created all of the universe in an orderly manner, and he was proud
of what he had made, especially human beings. I imagine the Israelites, the community that received
this story from the Priestly Sources, heard it as a confirmation that the God they worshipped was the
correct one. The Israelites were probably accustomed to the creation story from Genesis 2 3 by the
time this story was written. Although the Genesis 2 3 story tells about how their God created the
universe and humans, there is not as much mentioning of how this God looked upon his creation with
favor as he does in Genesis 1. At the end of the

Display Rules And Aggression Analysis
Society can play a big role in gender differences. According to our culture/society, men are strong and
stoic and women are mushy and cry far too easily. Bardwick(1971) says that women are entitled to
greater emotional freedoms. According to Brody (2000), we all interact and express emotions in
accordance with display rules . Display rules are rigid social norms that dictate how, when, and where
emotions can be expressed by men and women. An example rule may be something like boys should
not cry or girls should not be aggressive. Furthermore, he states that these rules are acquired via social
interactions (Brody 2000). Men tend to bottle up their emotions; this is referred to as restrictive
emotionality (Jansz, 2000). Jansz argues

Pregnancy Discrimination Act Essay
I. Introduction
With the rise of the modern age economic survival has become difficult for families based on a single
income. This economic need along with modern attitudes toward gender equality has resulted in
women being represented in the workforce in greater numbers. However, until the 1960 s women
faced severe discrimination when trying to enter and maintain a position in the workforce. Often
qualified women would be passed over for men with less experience and education. Employers were
fearful that women were too emotional and were not equipped to handle the stress of the work
environment. Also driving the decision to not hire or promote women was the concern over the

Within the Civil Right act was a section entitled Title VII which was created specifically to deal with
matters of employment. Title VII s objective is to prevent discrimination based upon a person s color,
national origin, gender, and religion in regards to all aspects of employment. This protection begins
with the initial stages of hiring and training employees and extends up to promotions and dismissals of
an employees. If a person belonged to one of the groups outlined by Title VII they became classified
as a member of a protected class. (Bohlander and Snell, 101) With the establishment of sex as a
protected class the foundation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act had been laid but it would take
fourteen years before pregnancy itself would become protected.
The need for the new law to be established began with the conflicting outcomes coming from the
various levels of the court system. The courts disagreed on what constituted sex discrimination. Six
different United States Courts of Appeals had ruled in favor of pregnant women saying that any
employment act that would adversely affect a pregnant woman was sex discrimination as outlined by
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Supporting this position was the view of the Equal Opportunity
Employment Commission who also agreed that discrimination based on a pregnancy would be
considered sex discrimination. However, the United States Supreme Court would change all of that
with its ruling in two separate court

In 1939 September 1st, a man with ambition set out to achieve his goal, the total control over the
European continent, which many of the previous rulers had failed to accomplish. Adolf Hitler, the man
with such ambition, committed the worst genocide ever known to humankind with the support of his
fellow Nazi party of Germany. This forced six million Jews to work in concentration camps. They
were constantly humiliated, tortured, and murdered by various inhumane methods. Such actions
eventually succeeded in wiping out one third of the Jewish population in Europe. The book The
concentration camps not only physically and psychologically damaged the people, it tore apart many
different relationships that were initially solid, resulting in the loss of faith in humanity.
During their enslavement at the concentration camps, the Jewish fundamental belief of benevolence
and preeminence are shredded to pieces. Jewish people lived in small, packed communities prior to
the war, with their religion deeply rooted in. Their devoted faith has its base on the idea that the world
revolves around the God. They believe the world, therefore, must good because God s divinity reaches
on every aspect of their lives. However, the Jews faith in the goodness of God is irreparably shaken
due to the horrors witnessed in the concentration camps. In the story, the Jews faith in God started to
waver at the sight of giant smokes rising from the smoke stacks of the Birkenau concentration camp.

Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life Of Logistics Essay
In many aspects globalization is usually described as a process where due to an increase in trade,
technology and cultural exchange the world is getting more interconnected making distances less and
less which is giving rise to a capitalist economy. According to (Wallerstein 2004), world economy has
always been capitalist . It s like everyone is specialized to perform a certain task and that s how the
idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the system of capitalism. Competition and
the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state subsidies and makes strong states to use their
power to prevent weaker states from succeeding.
However, Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life of Logistics published in 2014 by the University of
Minnesota Press justifies globalization in a very complex way which opens the eyes of readers to the
violent aspects relating to it. In the title words such as trade and logistics may deceive some users with
the content contained in the book to business decisions and the revolution in military affairs.
Nonetheless, this is not the case as this book aims to describe the art and the science of logistics.
Cowen suggests that logistics is part of the reason of the changing world in political agendas, security
levels, rise of global production, labour practices and warfare. Cowen uses critical theory to elaborate
the revolution in logistics by going through the civilization of logistics and going in depth of the
economic and and

Plant Proteases Advantages
Proteases are the most important type of enzymes because they represent ca. 60% of all
commercialized enzymes in the world and occupy the most relevant position among industrial
enzymes. Plant proteases have various applications such as in detergent manufacturing, in medicine,
and food science for many years (Siota and Villa, 2010). The most frequently employed plant
proteases are papain, bromelain and ficin, although new proteases with new and more appealing
physicochemical properties for industry are still emerging. Plant enzymes (such as papain, bromelain,
and ficin) have been extensively used as meat tenderizers. New plant proteases such as actinidin and
zingibain and microbial enzyme preparations have been of recent interest due to controlled meat
tenderization and other advantages.
2.1 Sources of proteases: Proteases occur naturally in all living organisms and play important role in
their functioning. They have been isolated and studied from various sources.

plant growth, development, senescence and plant defense as well as plant death. They are responsible

The most familiar proteases of animal origin are trypsin, rennin, chymotrypsin, pepsin all having
important role in metabolic processes. These are prepared in bulk in pure form. But the production of
proteases from animals has certain issues such as availability of livestock for slaughter which is
further governed by other policies and religional beliefs. Also the chances of transfer of diseases from
animals to humans are quiet high. These reasons have led to an increase in the demand of microbial

The Importance Of Stereotypes In Society
Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist, once said All violence is the illustration of a pathetic
stereotype (All). Stereotypes are at the basis of every dispute, argument, or violence we as people are
quick to judge other people even if we have never got to know the person we re criticizing. If
stereotypes continue we will become a world with separated groups of people that are at war with each
other. Stereotypes can be defined as image or label that can be held on a group of people based on
their appearances, and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotype). For example, in an
interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that That was scarring. I felt like after a
while, as I grew older and my consciousness evolved, I chose to not perm my hair anymore (Staff).
This evidence supports the idea that we may change our appearances like Jamila Lyiscott, for people
judge us based on things like our hair. Jamila Lyiscott felt like she was placed in a certain group based
on her appearance and this is what stereotypes are. Clearly, stereotypes affect our world greatly just
like it affected Jamila Lyiscott and how she presented herself to society. The topic of stereotypes is
also explored through literature. For example, in the poem, Labels, this poem is saying that we don t
need to judge if we have never met the person we are labeling. Labels is really talking about how
stereotypes aren t right. The poet writes that You can t know me by just a look,

Menchu s Liberation Theology
The church s malicious effects did not stop with providing the means for others to subjugate, but
continued by keeping people subjugated with it s carefully crafted canon and dogmatic teachings.
With careful observation it can be seen that even in Menchú s time the church s teachings were
enabling the subjugation of her people, they [the church] also taught us to accept many things, to be
passive, to be a dormant people. . . it was a sin to kill while we were being killed (Menchú 143). If you
are taught from birth that to fight, even in self defense is immoral, you will never fight. In this way

The movement itself which was headed by local bishops sought to improve the lives of the
impoverished, and create a more equal society. It was a movement for the people, and it earnestly
sought to create a better society. Sadly it s teachings were considered too radical by the elite who
denounced it as a Marxist populist movement and they did their best to prevent the rise of the
movement. The Vatican deposed the offices that had promoted the ideology and did what was in it s
power to end the movement. By time Menchú was old enough to question society, the church did not
enable her to do so, They told us . . . that God had a kingdom for the poor. This confused me . . . [I]

tried to get rid of my doubts by asking the nuns . . . The nuns tried to avoid the question. I don t know

Review Board Case Study
What makes an environment inviting for posting on a bulletin board?
The most inviting factor about the environment of the first bulletin group was the purpose of the room.
The printing room is a place where most students stay for a long time and work with computers, print
their assignments and documents and even socialize with each other. The nature of this staying makes
it more probable that the ads and notices being seen over time. The high traffic of the room and long

Also, many of the students who study in that place are undergraduate students who does not have

the categories of posts with most frequency including tutoring and social categories, it can be inferred
that the main audience of the bulletins are undergraduate students who participate more in social
events and needs a tutor for their courses.
On the other hand, the second bulletin group were limited access boards that did not have various
posts on them and their posts had more text than the photos on them. Also, they were located close to
offices related to student services and societies. Therefore, it can be concluded that the aim of the
board was informing students about their services and opportunities and did not intend to just be seen
by the greater number of audiences but to be seen by the right target group who are looking for that
information. Although they also used the color for attracting the attention, the chosen color which was
blue was not a vivid color and tried to keep the audience for longer time.

Culture Of Kuwait Culture
Kuwait Culture The term culture is one of those words that we use routinely, but what is it exactly?
Basically, culture is the multipart overall of a society which includes everything that gives a society an
identity. Culture may consist of customs, languages, and religion beliefs amid other characteristics that
are ordinary to people of a nation/region. What is predominantly interesting about cultures is that each
culture, no matter where it is located, shares at least five basic characteristics. However, every culture
has its own distinct characteristics that differentiate it from the others. One of such cultures is the
Kuwait culture. This culture awareness essay will attempt to emphasis on cultural aspects of the
people of Kuwait while drawing your attention to the social culture annalists of Kuwait nation/region s
physical geography, weather analysts, current and passed military conflicts and its impact on the

They were primary drawn to the Kuwait Bay region because of the resources from the sea, and
majority of the population still lives within a short distance of the first coastal colonies. Kuwait exists

English language learner (ELL) students (State of Hawaii Department of Education, 2014). Also,
according to the U.S. Department of Education (n.d.), in the 2012 2013 school year, there were

Sphinx Of Giza Essay
A lot of people become amazed when they see how majestic the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are.
Have people ever thought of how or why those huge monuments were built? These structures, which
had an important role in history, now become a great form of tourism for Egypt. There are a lot of
mysteries regarding the pyramids and the Sphinx, and many humans may not understand some of
these things. Why is the peak of the Pyramid of Giza not completed? Or why isn t Khufu s body in his
burial chamber? Not all of those questions have a correct answer. The Great Sphinx and the pyramids
of Egypt have existed since thousands of years ago and were built by Ancient Egyptian Kings mostly
to honor and symbolize themselves. Or do others believe someone else built them and for another
reason? The Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to be a national symbol of Egypt, was built to honor and
symbolize Egypt s King during those times. It was built in the Old Kingdom near Cairo in Egypt,
during King Khafre s reign. The people believe that the Sphinx s head contains their King s face,
Khafre s. Still other theories suggest that King Khufu might have been the one to build the Sphinx
with his face on its head. This fierce looking creature is really a combination of the head of a woman

Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded...
Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through
patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material
removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and
electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding
performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel,
(4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that
knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will
benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering.
Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases,
rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains,
metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing
advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because
grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed
understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism

October Sun by D. Omer Seamon is a 1987 watercolor by Indianan native, whose work primarily

October Sun depicts a beautiful fall day that draws the viewer into its frame. For the sake of analysis, I

watercolor so compelling.
The use of oranges, yellows, reds, pale greens, and browns for the leaves anchors the painting in the

because of the tangible quality and the warm images of fall that this watercolor evokes that I believe it

The Role of Human Resources Department
The role of the human resources department is to maximize its expertise and knowledge to promote a
diverse work environment that values service excellence, personal well being and professional

recruit, hire and train the best qualified people to do the job. Human resource planning is an important
factor of the human resources department. It is the process of forecasting the supply and demand for
human resources within an organization and developing action plans for aligning the two
(Denisi/Griffin, 2008, pg. 98).Organizations analyzes whether they could function with the same staff

Job analysis is another important factor of human resources. This is the process of gathering and
organizing detail information about jobs within an organization so managers can understand the

appraisal, training, development, and compensation. The training and development is where the
employee learning the job related skills. The organization facilitate the training to employees to focus

Shakespeare Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy. While we made our
adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern approach. Because we decided on a modern
adaptation, we had to come up with a modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and confusion
about identity. Taking place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling agency in the
state. Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the characters, meaning some
things that take place in the play are not a part of our storyline (for example Feste as the Clown). Our
adaptation has the potential to be a real movie because it is realistic. The main purpose behind
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night was to entertain, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic irony.
For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking feminine face.
Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is
when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring
men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This
works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her
statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man.
The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to
be a man. Our adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up.
Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works
especially when specific stage directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage
directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the
screen and looks at the I.D. , which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands
like that make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to
acting out a part of the play. But also, because our adaptation is much more modern, it would make it
easy for the play to work as a

Impact Of Marijuana On Society
Legalization of Marijuana:

Destiny Wright
Criminology 200
Abstract
The legalization of drugs has always been a big debate in the United States. For hundreds of years, our
citizens have argued over what they think would be best for our nation. From The War on Drugs to the
legalization of Marijuana in Colorado, the United States has transformed. Many believe that this was
the worst decision Congress could ever make and others think that this changes life for the better.
Although this had always been a great debate, there is nothing much that people could argue over now
that Marijuana is legalized in more than one state.

According to Chu (2015), as of July 2014, 22 states and the District of Columbia had passed laws that
allow individuals with designated conditions to use marijuana for medical purposes. Although the
direct effects of these laws are limited to legally qualified patients, it is a popular belief that
legalization of medical marijuana has increased illegal marijuana use among non patients as well (p.
482). This could be true, but it could also be inaccurate. Many people never told that they had already
used the drug before it became legalized, but after it did, many people were honest with their choices.
Chu also discovered that medical marijuana laws increase t proxies for marijuana consumption by
around 10 15 percent. However, there is no evidence that cocaine and heroin usage increases (p. 481).
As one could see, just because Marijuana was legalized does not mean that it increased the usage of

What Is The Theme Of Romanticism In Giselle Ou Les Willise
The ballet Giselle ou Les Willis was premiered at the Paris Opera on the 28th of June, 1841. The ballet
follows the protagonist Giselle an innocent peasant who falls in love with Albrecht the Duke of
Silesia, passing as a villager. When Giselle uncovers the truth behind Albrecht deceits she dies of a
broken heart and is transformed into a Willi, a supernatural being that has been left at the alter. Giselle
was created in the period known as the Romantic Era, which was named due to the influence of
romanticism throughout Europe in the 1800s. The development of modern Europe begun between the
1780s and 1849 which was an economic transformation that set the first stages of the great Industrial
Revolution. This period created changes that can be seen throughout the ballet Giselle with alterations
to costuming and theatrical innovations, which changed how the public perceived dance. Themes
symbolic of the time were generated and brought depth and emotion to previous one dimensional
storylines, as well as the development of how the roles of men and women in dance went against the
way of society.
Throughout the Romantic period the ideas of Romanticism in art and literature influenced the creation
of ballets. During this period ballets explored similar key themes of betrayal, love and a spiritual
connection between the living and dead, in which these themes reflected society at the time.
Throughout the romantic period society were facing hardship in which they looked to the

that drawing is something he either wanted to do as he got older or just something that he did during
his past time. This example shows that Paul is no longer the same, because during his time at the front
Paul is only shown drawing twice. The last example is at the end of the movie before Paul dies. Paul,
who took the position as leader after Kat died, was smoking a cigarette while checking on the other

The Reign Of Louis Xv And Disappearing Toward The End Of...
Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century, Rococo
was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of Baroque. As
dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was beginning to become
stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was a chance for artistic styles
to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign, movement away from previously
mentioned artistic styles began. Taking up residence in Paris, the aristocracy abandoned the Palace of
Versailles. This move away from the monarchy in favor of the aristocracy can be seen in Rococo art,
as can other elements from the time period. The actual term, rococo, comes from the French word
rocaille, which means rock work . The Rococo style was given its name due to its reliance on
seashells, bits of rock, and other playful motifs for decorations. During his reign, Louis XIV
commissioned light and airy decorations for Versailles. After his death in 1715, this style began to take
the place of Baroque. There was new emphasis on asymmetry, as well as on complex, graceful curves.
The s curve in particular was the most important. Color schemes lightened up considerably, and
overall form became more relaxed and avoided form and direction at timesé. Overall, this carefree,
lighthearted style was best in smaller spaces, whimsy replaced grandeur, and emotional depth was no

Essay about How to Speed up Your Downloads
Waiting for downloads to finish is no fun. After all, if you ve decided you want to save or install
something you find online, you probably want to use or play it straight away. Thankfully, there are lots
of ways to speed up downloads but also several pitfalls you should avoid in your quest to achieve it.
Here, we look at how to download large files faster no matter how slow your bandwidth is.
Speed up downloads on very slow broadband connections
There s no easy cure for a limited web connection and we know many readers are stuck on speeds of
less than 2Mbps.
Your first priority is to ensure nothing else is interfering with your bandwidth. This means switching
off your email, closing instant messaging programs and making sure no ... Show more content on

To check which programs and services are set up to connect to the internet, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete,
click Task Manager,
Services and look through the entries that have network access. Items such as Adobe Acrobat Updates
can be stopped. Limit when other people can use your web connection
If all the devices connected to your network are ones that should be allowed web access, either change
the traffic priority for your broadband connection on your router so your downloads take precedence
or you can schedule your downloads for later and prevent other people using the web at that time.
If you don t want the kids watching YouTube videos at all or only at certain times of the day, give their
laptops a password protected, Standard or Limited user account and use the settings menu to restrict
what they can do and when. This way, if you re trying to download an HD film, you can make sure
their computers are set to allow web access only until, say, 10pm and start your download after that.
To change your broadband connections bandwidth priority, go to the settings menu for your router and
locate QoS. Move Skype calls, instant messaging, online gaming and other bandwidth heavy tasks
down the list and promote downloads. Check how long a download should take
On a broadband connection of at least 5Mbps, even large items should download in less than five
minutes. To find out how long a download

  • 2. The Fall Sioux City Crash The essay will be discussing about the failure of mankind due to inefficient engineering projects. It will also explain , the major cause of each disaster and its effect on the surroundings. The 1989 Sioux city crash : Introduction: John Fielder s The 1989 Sioux City Crash talks about the moral issues of a tail motor outline and contrasts the DC 10 and other flying machine . As in alternate mishaps , loss of the motor ought not have brought about loss of the airplane however , as in alternate mischances , consequent harm to the DC 10 s control framework prompted the accident. Fielder. J.H,(1992). Causes: Debate proceeds with today over the DC 10 s security as a result of the 1989 accident of United Airlines Flight 232 in Sioux City , Iowa , in which 111 individuals passed on . Inquiries have again been raised about the sufficiency of assurance for the control frameworks in the DC 10 . The National Transportation Safety Board Report on the 1989 Sioux City Crash found that the reason for the mischance was a metallurgical blemish in the fan gathering of the back motor. A split in the 370 pound fan plate began from the defect and in the end made it crumble . Trash from the blast separated all water driven lines , denying the pilot of control over the flying surfaces on the tail and wings . the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report additionally portrays the shortcomings of the examination of an airplane with little insurance of its ... • 3. The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and the Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips were planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had traveled collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be explored in this time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific Islands one of humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began their journey before the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration routes stemming from Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous accomplishment for mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey was made are still a debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia and New Guinea from Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is hard to ascertain as it appears after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that melted had drowned large stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage scientists and making it certain that the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong enough and advanced far beyond the technology norm at the time, in order to survive such a journey, settlements of these early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Qfd3 Case Study Qfd1 (labeled as Qbws1 on the chart) was found at River Mile 189.5 preserved between a Black Ledge lava dam remnant and a basalt flow. The base of the deposit was 110m above the current river level while the top of the deposit was 170 m above the current river level. The clasts were 92% basalt and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came from the same lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6 m diameter limestone boulder. Based on age and pattern of REE, Qfd1 deposits seemed to have correlated with the dam produced by the Upper Prospect lava flows (Fenton et al. (2004)). While the Toroweap Dam correlated in age to Qfd1, its REE pattern did not align in a parallel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was composed primarily of gravels, basalts, and glass. The basalts and glasses in Qfd3 did not seem to be related based on the La/Sm ratio while their Gd/Lu ratios were somewhat similar. Qfd3 deposits were complicating in correlating to a specific dam to the fact that the presence of extralocal river gravels and quartz in the lower parts of the deposition could indicate two separate flooding events. One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and Gd/Lu was similar to the REE pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the Toroweap Dam could have emplaced the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis with the most consistent result is that the failure of a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of Qfd3 glasses. This hypothesis is consistent with the REE chart thus this explanation is seen as a strong candidate. • 6. Compare And Contrast Young Goodman Brown And The Man In... Within Nathaniel Hawthorne and Stephen King s short stories Young Goodman Brown and The Man in the Black Suit , readers follow two protagonists as they have a encounter with the devil. The devil is presented differently with each of the novels through elements such as appearance, goals and language. Both protagonists, each who is quite innocent, is affected by these features in some way. The first element that readers may notice when analyzing each novel is that the devil within both stories has a unstated yet clear goal, to change the protagonists view and beliefs in a negative way. He, however does not accomplish this goal within both of the stories. The devil in Hawthorne s very much so accomplishes his. The protagonist within the story, Goodman Brown, was forever changed after his encounter with the devil. He became quite bitter and he no longer saw the good within the people of his community. When walking into his town the following morning after his encounter with the devil, Goodman acts quite odd. When the minister attempts to bestow a blessing upon Goodman; Goodman revolts back from the minister as if to avoid an anathema (Hawthorne 8). Also, when noticing that his fiance saw him and was skipping over to give him a kiss, Goodman looked sternly and sadly into her face and passed on without a greeting (Hawthorne 9). The devil ruins Goodmans view of people and the world, thus accomplishing his goal. Unlike Hawthorne s, the devil in Kings story doesn t achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eisenhower Atoms for peace speech was delivered on December 8, 1953 (during the Cold War) to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, due to the end of World War II and the attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the development of nuclear weapons were rapidly increasing and therefore, destroying the nation. I will analyze this historical speech according to the five cannons of rhetoric. Invention: Eisenhower s goal was to explain the necessity of using the way by which the miraculous inventiveness of man shall not be dedicated to his death, but consecrated to his life. Using nuclear technology for peace instead of destruction without intending to start a war but as a preventative measure and a symbol of strength. Dwight D. Eisenhower says But the dread secret and the fearful engines of atomic might are not ours alone applying pathos as his rhetorical strategy by using loaded language and evoking emotions from his audience giving them knowledge that not only our allies, but also our enemies, knew of the power of atomic ammunition. He uses hard evidence as well as logos to gain credibility from his audience, by reminding them and providing evidence that on July 19, 1945, the United States set off the world s first atomic explosion . This showed the importance of the accomplishment in American history. The speech took place in the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Arrangement: Atoms for Peace ... I was suprised to find when I researched this word that it had a negative feeling associated with it. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country, standing up for what you believe in, and fighting for our individual free will and independence. I am proud of my country and I am not ashamed to fly the American Flag. Many men and women have died to give me the freedoms that I take for granted. America stands for diversity and to have patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do. We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. It s like everyone is specialized to perform a certain task and that s how the idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the system of capitalism. Competition and the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state subsidies and makes strong states to use their power to prevent weaker states from succeeding. • 26. The Importance Of Stereotypes In Society Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist, once said All violence is the illustration of a pathetic stereotype (All). Stereotypes are at the basis of every dispute, argument, or violence we as people are quick to judge other people even if we have never got to know the person we re criticizing. If stereotypes continue we will become a world with separated groups of people that are at war with each other. Stereotypes can be defined as image or label that can be held on a group of people based on their appearances, and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotype). For example, in an interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that That was scarring. I felt like after a while, as I grew older and my consciousness evolved, I chose to not perm my hair anymore (Staff). This evidence supports the idea that we may change our appearances like Jamila Lyiscott, for people judge us based on things like our hair. Jamila Lyiscott felt like she was placed in a certain group based on her appearance and this is what stereotypes are. Clearly, stereotypes affect our world greatly just like it affected Jamila Lyiscott and how she presented herself to society. The topic of stereotypes is also explored through literature. Therefore, it can be concluded that the aim of the board was informing students about their services and opportunities and did not intend to just be seen by the greater number of audiences but to be seen by the right target group who are looking for that information. Although they also used the color for attracting the attention, the chosen color which was blue was not a vivid color and tried to keep the audience for longer time. 1. For example, in the Pahoa complex that I currently work in, 88 percent of students are economically disadvantaged (State of Hawaii Department of Education, 2014). These structures, which had an important role in history, now become a great form of tourism for Egypt. There are a lot of mysteries regarding the pyramids and the Sphinx, and many humans may not understand some of these things. Why is the peak of the Pyramid of Giza not completed? Or why isn t Khufu s body in his burial chamber? Not all of those questions have a correct answer. The Great Sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt have existed since thousands of years ago and were built by Ancient Egyptian Kings mostly to honor and symbolize themselves. Or do others believe someone else built them and for another reason? The Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to be a national symbol of Egypt, was built to honor and symbolize Egypt s King during those times. It was built in the Old Kingdom near Cairo in Egypt, during King Khafre s reign. The people believe that the Sphinx s head contains their King s face, Khafre s. Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel, (4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering. Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases, rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasive grains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism easily. • 38. Shakespeare Twelfth Night William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy. While we made our adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern approach. Because we decided on a modern adaptation, we had to come up with a modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and confusion about identity. Taking place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling agency in the state. Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the characters, meaning some things that take place in the play are not a part of our storyline (for example Feste as the Clown). Our adaptation has the potential to be a real movie because it is realistic. The main purpose behind Shakespeare s Twelfth Night was to entertain, and ... Another example is when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. Our adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up. Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works especially when specific stage directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the screen and looks at the I.D. , which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands like that make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to acting out a part of the play. Although the direct effects of these laws are limited to legally qualified patients, it is a popular belief that legalization of medical marijuana has increased illegal marijuana use among non patients as well (p. 482). This could be true, but it could also be inaccurate. Many people never told that they had already used the drug before it became legalized, but after it did, many people were honest with their choices. Chu also discovered that medical marijuana laws increase t proxies for marijuana consumption by around 10 15 percent. However, there is no evidence that cocaine and heroin usage increases (p. 481). • 46. The Reign Of Louis Xv And Disappearing Toward The End Of... Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century, Rococo was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of Baroque. As dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was beginning to become stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was a chance for artistic styles to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign, movement away from previously mentioned artistic styles began. Taking up residence in Paris, the aristocracy abandoned the Palace of Versailles. This move away from the monarchy in favor of the aristocracy can be seen in Rococo art, as can other elements from the time period. The actual term, rococo, comes from the French word rocaille, which means rock work . The Rococo style was given its name due to its reliance on seashells, bits of rock, and other playful motifs for decorations. During his reign, Louis XIV commissioned light and airy decorations for Versailles. After his death in 1715, this style began to take the place of Baroque. There was new emphasis on asymmetry, as well as on complex, graceful curves. The s curve in particular was the most important.
