Best Argumentative Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of the "Best Argumentative Essay" is no easy feat. The inherent
challenge lies not only in the vast array of potential arguments one could explore but also in the
need to present a well-structured, coherent, and persuasive piece. The task involves navigating
through a sea of information, critically evaluating various perspectives, and formulating a
compelling thesis that not only stands out but also challenges existing ideas.
To begin with, one must invest considerable time in extensive research to gather relevant data
and evidence to support their claims. This process requires sifting through numerous sources,
ensuring their credibility, and synthesizing the information into a cohesive narrative. Moreover,
the essay demands a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as the ability to discern
between valid and invalid arguments.
The complexity is heightened by the necessity to address counterarguments effectively. A
successful argumentative essay not only presents a strong case for its perspective but also
anticipates and refutes opposing viewpoints. This requires analytical skills and a nuanced
approach to handling contrasting opinions.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the art of persuasion. Crafting a compelling essay involves
not only presenting logical arguments but also doing so in a manner that engages the reader
emotionally. The language must be precise, the tone persuasive, and the overall composition
captivating to ensure that the reader is not only convinced but also compelled to reflect on the
presented ideas.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of the "Best Argumentative Essay" is a formidable
task that demands meticulous research, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. It is
an intellectual journey that requires the writer to navigate through a myriad of perspectives,
counterarguments, and supporting evidence to create a compelling and persuasive narrative.

A Word Wall For Scientific Vocabulary
Science Class: A word wall for scientific vocabulary can be created for courses like
Chemistry, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Physics core classes. For example,
in chemistry a word wall for physical changes, chemical change, and periodic table
vocabulary can be constructed by the students. For Physics, words like speed,
velocity, kinetic energy, and potential energy can be posted on the wallfor a lesson on
forces and motion to help facilitate the acquisition of academic terminology for ELL
learners in the field of science. Also concepts that are opposite to each other like

The Theory Of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Essay
Psychosocial rehabilitation has its theoretical roots in evolving a failed effort, by the
mental health system, to help mentally ill patients in coping with the psychosocial
devastation brought on by severe mental illness and behavioural problems
(Correctional Services Canada, 2013). The traditional methods of treatment viewed
recovery as a process of curing an illness, usually with medication, but recovery does
not subsequently occur once their illness is treated (CSC, 2013). This traditional
method was ineffective because their recovery was halted by limited support and
skills and abnormal behaviours learned in institutions (CSC, 2013). These deficits
resulted in chronic impairments and maladaptive social functioning (CSC, 2013).
These individuals were unable to fulfill normal social roles and successfully live
independently in the community (CSC, 2013). The PSR approach to recovery
incorporates more than just eliminating the signs and symptoms of the illness, is
based on understanding the patients voice and experiences and encouraging
participation and self determination in treatment (CSC, 2013). This approach
recognises the care values such as hope, empowerment, and determination are
essential to recovery (CSC, 2013). The importance of skill development and
community support are also highlighted (CSC, 2013). Psychosocial rehabilitation
models the ultimate patient centered interventions; it effectively supplements the
individual s recovery. Recovery is deeply
The Link Between the Industrial Revolution and Socialism...
The Industrial Revolution was period of rapid economic and social growth during
the mid 18th and early 19th centuries. The new found power of coal and iron made
for many new innovations in machinery. Not all of the Industrial Revolution s
changes were physical. A new ideology arose from the sweat of the working class:
socialism. Socialism is a political theory advocating state or collective ownership of
property and industry opposed to private ownership. To fully understand the
relationship between the Industrial Revolution and socialism, one must first be
comfortable with the Revolution and its changes, socialism itself, and the fine line of
events linking the two together. The Revolution began in Britain and over the course

Once in complete control, it would abandon its dictatorship to form a higher state of
democracy then had been seen before. He thought then that the classes which
separated people would surely fall as the bourgeois withered away. He believed that
people must liberate themselves. On the other hand, Eduard Bernstein s revisionist
socialism wanted the proletariat to rise to power through democratic office and
reforms. He believed that the change should be more of an evolution rather than a
revolution. The revisionist also did not want the proletariat to be in total control. The
socialists, believing everyone is equal, saw that the proletariat was being treated
poorly and knew that would have to change. The cruel working conditions and little
civil rights made a gap that no single man could cross without help. Many believed
that socialism was the key. Socialism grew from the problems of the Industrial
Revolution. The relationship of the Revolution to socialism was that of a problem to
a solution, respectively. If not for the Industrial Revolution, the problems between the
classes would never have grown so apparent. Then again, without the Industrial
Revolution the world would be stuck in the past. While the Industrial Revolution
shaped the modern world of today, it also caused problems that, in theory, only
Essay On Heterosexism
The politically correct answer on how parents should react if their teenage daughter or
son comes out to them is to be understanding. Despite the shock that is felt,
responding with love and acceptance rather than rejection lets them know they are
valued. Withholding love only hurts everyone involved. You do not have to accept
the choice or approve but letting the childknow he or she is loved unconditionally is
important.
Now here is the reality. Most parents feel guilt that they did something wrong to
make their child this way. Some feelings that might be felt are shock and disbelief.
If this is a lifestyle that is not condoned in the household, some parents feel that their
understanding is confused as acceptance of this lifestyle. When all the mixed
emotions swirling around it can be very difficult to keep a level head. No one wants
their child to have to struggle or make themselves a target for others hate. When a ...

The Bible or other religious outlets have stated homosexuality or anything other than
heterosexuality is wrong. Like any other many religions some take things out of
context and spread the misunderstood as truth. Like most prejudice, fear induces hate.
Lack of knowledge of the unknown causes a separation. That separation causes lack
of communication.
In addition to the religious view, some will claim that their prejudice is valid based
on religion. Since most know the Bible states that homosexuality is wrong,
religious people hop on the fanatic bandwagon. This can also be said about
homosexuality. Mass media has romanticized homosexuality making it hip to be
gay, or at least for a girl. Rappers make songs about lesbians and portray lesbians as
desirable. Young girls and boys are watching this and see it as a way to be accepted
by their peers. It gives them attention even though it is the wrong kind of attention.
Negative attention for some is better than no
Why Is Rodeo Important To Me Essay
Rodeo is my life. School plays a big role in my life with rodeo. If I dont have above a
2.0 GPA I can t rodeo because when you rodeo in high school it s considered a sport
in your school so you have to stay on top of your grades so that you can rodeo.
Balancing school and rodeo is pretty difficult, because you have to stay on your
grades and then you go home and practice for 3 hours every day and it s hard to find
time to do your homework. I have plans to rodeoprofessionally when i turn 18 and
make a living on rodeo, once you turn pro you buy your traveling card for $100 and
that lasts you a year and you have to renew it every year.
Rodeoing will take you places that you have never been before and it will give you
the opportunity to meet a bunch of new people. When i first started rodeoing it
was hard for me to just go out and meet people because i didn t really know
anything about them and it took me a while to get the courage and go introduce
myself and make new friends. After a few years of rodeoing i wouldn t have to go
introduce myself because people would come up to me and ask who i was because
i was doing so good in all my events. Most people are rude at first but once you get
to know them and hang out with them, you finally start to see the nice side of them. ...

recently experienced agony for her mother s death, found work at a local cafe. Not
much is known about Mattie at first other than her clumsiness, and anxiety, but yet
is admirable and enthusiastic to be working at the cafe. As we start to progress
into the story, we start to learn more about Mattie s past as she reveals them in

her job at the cafe, and also, interacts more with her fellow workers, including her
boss, Riyad. Mattie s stability starts to grow back again as she becomes more
comfortable with her work conditions. Even though at first a worker, Sergio, gave
Mattie a hard time, she shrugged it off as common crudeness, and hence, cared less
of it. This cycle continued for awhile longer, and in this case, continued her growth
as a person to where she became more restored than she was before she had gotten
her job. In some situations, Mattie had some confrontations with a couple of
customers, but yet, always kept her motives straight. When all seemed to be in
balance and superb, another worker had returned from his grandfather s farm to

The Best Death Ever
The Best Death Ever Niall Griffiths
By Christian Steenfeldt, 3.U
Children cannot differentiate between what is fun and what is serious. In the short
story The Best Death Ever by Niall Griffiths four boys are playing a game where
they have to fake a death. The boy whoever fakes the best death wins the game. The
four boys do not understand what they are doing and see the game, The Best Death
Ever, as a fun game. Until one moment, when one of the boys misjudges the distance
to ground and almost hang himself meanwhile his friends where shooting at him with
their toy guns.
The story is narrated by a first person narrator who looks back at a specific incidence.

The story is a flashback of roughly 45 60 minutes of his life. The narrator looks back
at that special episode of his life and he turns all nostalgic.
The boys are strongly inspired by war movies and war stories told by the elderlies.
The narrator has received a toy gun from his granddad. He knows a lot about it
because of his big interest in war. As almost every other boy, they playgames with
guns and death involved. The problem is not that the boys play war, but that they
cannot differentiate between where the fun stops. In this game Gavin almost killed
himself, but it was not on purpose. A problem is, when the mom notices Gavin, she
immediately saves him. Then she slaps the narrator. By slapping the narrator she
punishes him for something that he does not know is wrong. The narrator is angry,
because they have to award Gavin the price of the best death.
I would shock and shake them all with the violence of my going. But we never
played the game again.
Because his mother hit him and did not tell him what they did wrong, he does not
understand consequences. Therefore he still wants to win the game next time and he
wants to put even more violence in than Gavin did. Luckily they never played the
game again, because nobody knows what would have happened then.
This story is a perfect example to show that taking extra care of your children is
highly necessary. If you do not teach your kid what is dangerous and what is not, it
will have serious consequences. As in

The Lexus ES is a luxury sedan requiring no introduction. Now in its sixth
generation, the ES line is one of two models that launched the Lexus brand in 1989
(the flagship LS is the other one) and remains Lexus top selling model behind the RX

The ES line has always represented a front wheel drive model powered by a V6

Software Product Lines and Architecture
IV. SOFTWARE PRODUCT LINES
A software product line (SPL) is a set of software intensive systems that share a
common, managed set of features satisfying the specific needs of a particular market
segment or mission and that are developed from a common set of core assets in a
prescribed way.
Software product lines are emerging as a viable and important development paradigm
allowing companies to realize order of magnitude improvements in time to market,
cost, productivity, quality, and other business drivers. Software product line
engineering can also enable rapid market entry and flexible response, and provide a
capability for mass customization.
The various product variants can be derived from the basic product family. The
purpose is to reduce the time and cost of production, and to increase software quality
by reusing core assets. The general process of product lines is based on the reusability
of requirements, documentation, architecture and components.

The Shallows; Real or Make Believe The Internet is something that some consider
their lifesavers, while others believe that it takes their life away. The Shallows: What
The Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, by Nicholas Carr is a novel that explores the
different areas of how new technologies affect humans in different ways, regarding
multi tasking and distractions, to how new technologies make us lose a little part of
ourselves. Throughout the book Carr puts forward very strong arguments, but then
loses creditability with his use of fallacies in argument.
Within the very first chapter Hal and Me , is where the first fallacy arises. Hal and
Me , gives the reader some insight of what they ... Show more content on

Many generalizations are present throughout this chapter that weaken Carr s
argument. This quote is just one of the few generalizations, The intellectual ethic
of a technology is rarely recognized by its inventors. They are usually so intent on
solving a particular problem or untangling some thorny scientific or engineering
dilemma that they don t see the implications of their work. The users of the
technology are also usually oblivious to its ethic. They, too, are concerned with the
practical benefits they gain from employing the tool (Carr 45). As stated before
this quote is a generalization. Carr is generalizing with the assumption that
inventors are usually so intent on solving a problem that they aren t focuses on the
benefits or consumers, which isn t very true anymore. Many inventors who create
products are now looing for the benefits that its user or consumer will get.
Therefore this quote can confuse the reader. Another contradiction appears in
chapter 3 Tools of the Mind , Carr states Language itself is not a technology (51).
This is a contradiction to chapter 5 A Medium Of The Most General Nature , where
the whole concept of the chapter is writing and reading, which is considered
language to most. When reading chapter 5 and remembering this quote, it makes the
reader question Carr s credibility of chapter 3 of how language evolves from humans,
and that reading and writing is part of our culture and is not a technology.

Rationale Red Bull is a global player and almost everyone has tried their drink before.
But Red Bull does so much more than just supplying the un energized part of society
with the power to get through the day. The Austrian company is one of the most
successful ones when it comes to marketing their brand even the people that don t
enjoy sipping their cool energy drink know that Red Bull gives you wings .
But what does one do with all the energy you get from drinking a can of Red Bull?
What the company has focused on is sponsoring events celebrating extreme sports
and using this buzz as sources for marketing.
The best example happened on October 14th, 2012, when Felix Baumgartner set a
new world record for the highest sky diving jump. He defied death by jumping from
128,000 feet and flying at a speed of approximately 850 miles per hour all sponsored
by Red Bull.
Researching about this extreme marketing stunt, I realized wanted to analyze how
Red Bull uses marketing, sponsoring and events to create buzz around their product
all around the world.
Research paper Red Bull is an Austrian company founded by Dietrich Mateschitz in
the mid 1980 s. Dietrich got the inspiration for his
Skeptics Of Globalization
Based on my understanding thus far, the biggest debates regarding globalization I
see is: does globalization work, globalization causes for inequality and exploitation
among developing nations while wealthier nations prosper, what are the skepticisms
of globalization, and how can globalization be a positive and successful aspect to the
world. All of these debates arise because many key players understand that
globalizationhas many positive and negative aspects about it; therefore, there is a
large debate in if it truly works as an option for societies to truly use it. According
to sociologist Cees Hamelink, there are many skeptics who debate if globalization
truly works; however, skeptics of globalization offer insights on how what seems
to be growth and mobility to supporters is actually limited by various factors.
Skeptics argue that globalization may seem great on the surface with its
movements of growth and prosperity for everyone; however, as they support their
claims, globalization to them is only about the benefits of the wealthy and less of
the middleman. They see the global market as a means of investments for larger
companies who benefit in specific regions rather than a so called global economy
with various nations having companies benefiting from trade. Therefore, they find
the global economy and financial markets to be, in essence fake, meaning, these
skeptics only see limitations for many smaller countries and only a few powerful
countries prosper. Skeptics also make the argument against supporters that
globalization points out the disparity amongst people rather than growth in
expanding networks and communication. They point this out because not every
person has a smartphone, a computer, a tablet, or other network device, which
limits their vote in being active in global communication. It also means not
everyone has access to becoming a part of the global market nor does it mean they
can all share the same good life that supporters talk about. Therefore, global
integration to skeptics is not equally spread worldwide, so, there is a difference in
the visibility and availability amongst consumers in a global market.Overall, skeptics
argue that globalization is too limited by

practical lessons, such as the importance of sharing, how to count, and tie a shoe.
Fast forward nearly five decades, Sesame Street is tackling subjects once

Lois Prunesworth s Argumentative Essay
Lois Prunesworth hated technology with the firiest of passions. Everywhere she
looked, young people were always on their phones and computers, paying more
attention to how many friends they had on social media than how many friends
they had in the real world. She found it absolutely deplorable. Wherever she went,
she always made certain that anyone 40 years younger than her knew that she did
not approve of whatever electronic device was on their person. While she was
waiting in line at the supermarket, she made sure to tell the girl texting in front of
her that, when she was a girl as young as she was, she had to walk 2 miles,
backwards, uphill, through the snow in order to socialize with any of her friends.
When she took her dog, Fifi,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pascal s Wager Argument Analysis
In this essay, I will argue that Pascal s Wager gives a good argument and reason to
the agnostic for them to believe in the existence of God and become a theist. Pascal
s Wager is based on a decision of dominance and gives the agnostic an option to
believe in God and therefore, receive salvation, and the benefits that come with this
belief or believe in him and loose nothing. There are a number of arguments and
objections that try to prove the Wager wrong, that the argument implies elements of
cult brainwashing for belief and that Godwould not be so egotistical to demand belief
in him in return for salvation, but I will argue the falsehood of these objections to
prove that the argument gives good reason for an agnostic to become a theist.... Show

(Groothuis, 1994) Pascal believes that in doing so it is a way of changing a person
s existence for the better. He therefore does not say that God demands belief for
salvation but rather that through the belief of God this salvation will be a benefit
as the belief in the existence of God is not isolated from the benefits of salvation
that come with it. (Groothuis, 1994) One must first find the want for salvation due
to immoral actions and the need for forgiveness and thereafter will receive the
benefits of belief. Therefore, Pascal belief in the deity is necessary. One must
therefore be brave enough to make the wager to receive the grace (Groothuis, 1994)
as faith is a different thing from proof, proof is a human thing and faith is a gift
from god. (Janzen, 2010) I think that it is simply not fair for people to expect
salvation and grace from their creator without any belief or praise in him. I think
this creator would be offended if people do not bother to believe in him but still
expect salvation as this does not seem like a fair trade. This therefore shows the
objection that God would not be so egotistical is proven false as the benefit of
salvation is not isolated from a belief in God and does not demand flattery for these

The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade And Great Awakening

Nutrient Credit Trade
Environmental credits (ECs) such as carbon credit, nutrient credit, and water quality
credit are designed to conserve the environmental and ecosystem services and to
promote sustainable development. ECs trading in a market creates incentives for the
protection of environmental amenities along with minimization of associated
externalities. It also helps to meet the regulatory requirement for the emitters. The
regulation restricts stakeholders to load or emit pollutions in specified amount (i.e.
emission cap) but the flexibility of loading emissions is maintained to allow trades to
occur between different agents. The least polluting agent can sell the conserved
amount of pollution (i.e. specific emission permitted by regulation minus emission...

transaction price of each nutrient credit range between $2.98 to $3.05 but manure
generated nutrients credits will not be cost effective with prices below $8 $10 per

market was $8/lbN in 2009 while the minimum price that sustains the farmers
willingness to enter into the credit market was $20/lbN (Jones et al., 2010).
However, as pointed out by Jones et al. (2010), the credit prices are expected to
increase with the expansion of the credit trading markets due to the growing
concerns for emission control and increasing regulatory costs of pollution. Zhang et

serene city of Brandon, Vermont. He was born to Stephen Arnold Douglass and
Sarah Fisk. Some years later, Stephen Douglas dropped the second s from his last

an itinerant teacher and opened a school for three months at three dollars a student.
Douglas also studied law, and then settled in Jacksonville, Illinois. Towards the end
of the year, he wrote back to his Vermont relatives, I have become a Western man,

Double Identity
In this film analysis, the important aspects of purpose, audience, form, and content
of Double Happiness (1994) by Mina Shum will be examined in the context of
Chinese multiculturalism in Canadian society. The purpose of this film is to define
the double identity of Jade Li (Sandra Oh) in the context of a traditional Chinese
family and by also attempting to become a popular actress. This type of
multiculturalism defines the complex methods in which Jade attempts to appease
the traditional values of Chinese family values (fixed marriages, professionalism,
etc.), but to also live a secret life in the quest to become a famous Canadian actress.

Humor is often used in to expose the traditional values of the parents in relation to
Jade s own personal desire to become an actress. Jade s family represents the strict
observance of Chinese familial values, which seek to maintain a moral and ethical

that wants to become involved in a profession that her parents view as being

very good natured young woman that takes these archaic marital traditions with a

the comedic talents of Sandra Oh in this role. Overall, the comedy genre is utilized to

The Role Of Death In Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet

In All Quiet On The Western Front, Erich Maria Remarque expresses how the human
nature of the Iron Youth alters because of WW1 after witnessing horrendous acts
during the struggle between life and death. The human nature of Paul Baumer
changes dramatically as he must conform his life to that of a cold, harsh, unforgiving
German soldier. Every event that occurs when the novel begins to unravel as each
man has a mess tin full for the evening, to the moment where Remarque shifts to

Once Paul has made his way back to the western front, havoc begins to unleash like
never before, because his human nature is a murderer picking GГ©rard Duval as
the victim as fear takes over Paul s life. Duval is a vulnerable enemy that
blindlessly jumps towards his death as if he were a lamb up for slaughter. The idea
that Duval blindly jumps to his death as if he were up for slaughter like a lamb that
represents all young soldiers where their human nature, fear, controls life as they
know it. Paul s human nature has lead him to the killing of printer, GГ©rard Duval
because the time on leave changes him between the unnecessary praising and the

act he committed against Duval as if it has no effect. The idea of the Iron Youth is
coined to show that soldier are unstoppable but emotional the most affected because

of sorrow. Fear runs through the veins of soldiers that fiercely fight for their country

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Miracle Drug
TUESDAY This Tuesday is entirely different from the time I was born. Rather than
passing by without much happening, this Tuesday starts the beginning stages of
recovery. This Tuesday is the hangover as the result of Monday s poor decisions.
As the day passes, you begin to feel better, but it s a long, bumpy road ahead of
you. On a Tuesday there is a long wait until the much desired Friday and Saturday,
but it s an inevitable step in the right direction. I am twenty one and it is Tuesday.
The depression pills did not work as I had hoped they would. There is no such thing
as a miracle drug. After a month I refused to take them any longer. I felt like my pills
were controlling my life so I was also weaned off the bloodpressure medicine
treating my migraines. I only remained on the two medications I absolutely
needed: Synthroid for my Hashimoto s disease and omeprazole for my acid
reflux. I felt like I was beginning to take back control of my life. For some, this
probably seems like a minute, irrelevant change in a world of chaos. But for those
who are forced to live by their medications, especially at such a young age, this is a
very large step in regaining freedom. I no longer feel as though my doctors, doctor s
appointments, medications, and medical testing control my life. Another step toward
full recovery has been finding new meaning in my life since many of the old ones
disappeared after high school. Without sports, I had to find something else to
consume my time. Both

The charity clearly has the ability and the right to make Claire s pledge binding
since charitable pledges are usually enforceable. Namely, for a legal binding
contract to arise there must be an agreement between the contracting parties, which
is between the donor and the charity (Gary, 2010). Agreements that are entered into
by parties give rise to two essential elements of a contract that include; the offer that
resulted when the donor makes a promise to contribute some amount. In the
sample case, Claire made an offer when she made a phone call and pledged $1000
to save the dogs . Acceptance is the subsequent element that develops when parties
enter into an agreement. For this reason, acceptance was brought about by the
charity accepting Claire pledge through the phone call. Certainly the charity may
chose not to enforce the pledge Claire made to show good faith in their charity. All
in all, for a binding contract to be valid there must be a consideration that is
typically a promise that acts as a price for the promise made by the contracting
parties (Gary, 2010). The consideration in the charity pledge case is a picture of the
animal that a donor has helped and also a t shirt. These items are the price for the

himself with NZT in order for Eddie to get enough NZT to out smart the men who
were aiming to kill him. When Eddie Morra comes back from running errands he
discovers the apartment a wreck and the body of his ex brother in law with a bullet
in his head. Eddie Morra came to the conclusion that the murder must have been
looking for the drugs his ex brother in law let him try, and began to scavenge
through the apartment as well. This example of murder exhibits an extreme
behavior that drug abusers may participate in when they are desperate for more of a
drug. Another example of crime in the movie that is directly associated with the
desire for more drugs was
The City Of The London Metropolis
As usual, London s skies were grey, safely nestled in a blanket of fog with the
steady patter of rain staining the umbrellas of awakening Londoners. The streets
were bustling with people; there was the usual throng of corporate workers dressed
in their typical black, white and grey ensemble living life through their Smartphones;
there was the collection of tourists, wide eyed and eager to capture as many pieces of
the city through their cameralenses as they could. Everyone in this city has a purpose,
a destination, a life to continue writing with a passion and then there was him.
He lived a routine, not a life. There were no surprises, no newcomers; only the
familiar companions of loneliness and silence, but he was content. He walked down
the familiar streets leading to the Atlas Gallery, a quaint little photographic gallery
tucked away in the heart of the London metropolis. To him, it was a safe haven of
sorts, one that he had stumbled across during a rare occurrence of a shift in his usual
routine. He wasn t artistic by any means, but he loved photographs, and Grace was
one that had captured his heart from the very start.
The photograph was in monochrome. A vintage candid blown up to ten times its
original size that intrigued him, capturing his attention. A black hole against the
clinical perfection of the gallery s white walls. It was of a young woman; her eyes
meeting not the lens of the camera but the face of the cameraman. Her lips captured
in an inscrutable
Underage Drinking Essay example
Underage Drinking
In the article Why the Drinking Age should be Lowered, Ruth Engs believes that the
drinking age should be lowered to about 18 or 19. Engs is a Professor at Indiana
University in the Health and Sciences department. In this article Engs makes a valid
point in that responsible drinking could be taught through role modeling and
educational programs. Engs also states facts about the different drinking ages in other
countries, and that the United States has the highest legal purchasing age for
alcoholic beverages in the world.
According to Engs s research all of the irresponsible behaviors involving drinking
such as: fighting, drinking and driving, students missing class because of hangovers,
or vomiting after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these cultures young people learn from their parents about drinking and the
responsibility that comes with it. Engs suggests that we need to change the current
prohibition law and teach responsible drinking techniques for people that choose to
consume alcohol. Engs states facts, suggests alternative solutions, and relates the past
from the present; this is why her article is believable.
Engs does have many valid points in this article; however the drinking age probably
won t change any time soon. The problem with drinking and driving would greatly
increase, if the prohibition were to change the law of purchasing or consuming
alcohol. Society would break out in madness and there would probably be many
riots, and reports of violent behavior would increase. I believe that Engs has a
fantastic argument; however the government probably won t change their drinking
laws in the near future.
Engs obviously has a great experience with this topic because she is a professor at
Indiana University in the Health and Science department. However, I am not sure
why she is trying to argue for the drinking age to be lowered because she is
obviously over the age of 21. She has many strong points and can tell she has done a
serious amount of research on this topic. Engs does give many examples about how
college students drink responsibly.
Mahatma Gandhi And Nelson Mandela
If Mahatma Gandhi never inspired Nelson Mandela to fulfill his vision for human
rights, would Nelson Mandela have inspired Barack Obama to continue that legacy?
Mahatma Gandhi practiced civil disobedience and lobbied for the rights of Indians in
South Africa and India. Nelson Mandela hungered and fought for a South Africa,
where all races were equal and unified as nationalists. Barack Obama sought to build a
more tolerant United States through his historic presidency, immigration policies, and
equal rights for all people. Although these individuals faced severe opposition, they
persisted and enacted significant changes in human rights.
Gandhi took a stand for equal human rights and enacted change for Indians in South

For instance, In 1960 s Mandela got imprisoned till 1990...Gandhi got imprisoned
multiple times in South Africa and in India as well (Researchpedia Contrast of
Mandela and Gandhi Paragraph 6). Gandhi and Mandela both were imprisoned for
their acts of disobedience and did not back down even while in prison. In summary,
Gandhi directly experienced prejudice which set him on a course for unifying his
people and demanding change for India.
Like Gandhi before him, Nelson Mandela demanded a dramatic change in the
treatment of his people and was willing to suffer life long persecution and
imprisonment to achieve it. Mandela desired equal human rights be given to all
South Africans, regardless of color, and enacted change against the apartheid
through political activism and becoming a symbol of defiance during his twenty
seven year imprisonment. Mandela s desire for equal rights in South Africa fueled
his quest for education and career in politics. For example, As he secured formal
education, Nelson Mandela became more outspoken for causes of the suppressed,
eventually being expelled from school for protesting...only to return later to complete
his degree (Sarah Brooks Paragraph 1). This shows that even while obtaining his
degree, Mandela was actively trying to promote change in South Africa. Mandela and
other congressmen paid a high price for their

  • 8. The Theory Of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Essay Psychosocial rehabilitation has its theoretical roots in evolving a failed effort, by the mental health system, to help mentally ill patients in coping with the psychosocial devastation brought on by severe mental illness and behavioural problems (Correctional Services Canada, 2013). The traditional methods of treatment viewed recovery as a process of curing an illness, usually with medication, but recovery does not subsequently occur once their illness is treated (CSC, 2013). This traditional method was ineffective because their recovery was halted by limited support and skills and abnormal behaviours learned in institutions (CSC, 2013). These deficits resulted in chronic impairments and maladaptive social functioning (CSC, 2013). These individuals were unable to fulfill normal social roles and successfully live independently in the community (CSC, 2013). The PSR approach to recovery incorporates more than just eliminating the signs and symptoms of the illness, is based on understanding the patients voice and experiences and encouraging participation and self determination in treatment (CSC, 2013). This approach recognises the care values such as hope, empowerment, and determination are essential to recovery (CSC, 2013). • 9. The Link Between the Industrial Revolution and Socialism... The Industrial Revolution was period of rapid economic and social growth during the mid 18th and early 19th centuries. The new found power of coal and iron made for many new innovations in machinery. Not all of the Industrial Revolution s changes were physical. A new ideology arose from the sweat of the working class: socialism. Socialism is a political theory advocating state or collective ownership of property and industry opposed to private ownership. To fully understand the relationship between the Industrial Revolution and socialism, one must first be comfortable with the Revolution and its changes, socialism itself, and the fine line of events linking the two together. The Revolution began in Britain and over the course of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once in complete control, it would abandon its dictatorship to form a higher state of democracy then had been seen before. He thought then that the classes which separated people would surely fall as the bourgeois withered away. He believed that people must liberate themselves. On the other hand, Eduard Bernstein s revisionist socialism wanted the proletariat to rise to power through democratic office and reforms. He believed that the change should be more of an evolution rather than a revolution. The revisionist also did not want the proletariat to be in total control. The socialists, believing everyone is equal, saw that the proletariat was being treated poorly and knew that would have to change. The cruel working conditions and little civil rights made a gap that no single man could cross without help. Many believed that socialism was the key. Socialism grew from the problems of the Industrial Revolution. The relationship of the Revolution to socialism was that of a problem to a solution, respectively. If not for the Industrial Revolution, the problems between the classes would never have grown so apparent. Then again, without the Industrial Revolution the world would be stuck in the past. While the Industrial Revolution shaped the modern world of today, it also caused problems that, in theory, only

Despite the shock that is felt, responding with love and acceptance rather than rejection lets them know they are valued. Withholding love only hurts everyone involved. You do not have to accept the choice or approve but letting the childknow he or she is loved unconditionally is important. Now here is the reality. Most parents feel guilt that they did something wrong to make their child this way. Some feelings that might be felt are shock and disbelief. As almost every other boy, they playgames with guns and death involved. The problem is not that the boys play war, but that they cannot differentiate between where the fun stops. In this game Gavin almost killed himself, but it was not on purpose. A problem is, when the mom notices Gavin, she immediately saves him. Then she slaps the narrator. By slapping the narrator she punishes him for something that he does not know is wrong. The narrator is angry, because they have to award Gavin the price of the best death. I would shock and shake them all with the violence of my going. But we never played the game again. Because his mother hit him and did not tell him what they did wrong, he does not understand consequences. The Shallows: What The Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, by Nicholas Carr is a novel that explores the different areas of how new technologies affect humans in different ways, regarding multi tasking and distractions, to how new technologies make us lose a little part of ourselves. Many generalizations are present throughout this chapter that weaken Carr s argument. This quote is just one of the few generalizations, The intellectual ethic of a technology is rarely recognized by its inventors. They are usually so intent on solving a particular problem or untangling some thorny scientific or engineering dilemma that they don t see the implications of their work. The users of the technology are also usually oblivious to its ethic. They, too, are concerned with the practical benefits they gain from employing the tool (Carr 45). As stated before this quote is a generalization. Carr is generalizing with the assumption that inventors are usually so intent on solving a problem that they aren t focuses on the benefits or consumers, which isn t very true anymore. Many inventors who create products are now looing for the benefits that its user or consumer will get. Therefore this quote can confuse the reader. Another contradiction appears in chapter 3 Tools of the Mind , Carr states Language itself is not a technology (51). This is a contradiction to chapter 5 A Medium Of The Most General Nature , where the whole concept of the chapter is writing and reading, which is considered language to most. When reading chapter 5 and remembering this quote, it makes the reader question Carr s credibility of chapter 3 of how language evolves from humans, and that reading and writing is part of our culture and is not a technology.

  • 23. Skeptics Of Globalization Based on my understanding thus far, the biggest debates regarding globalization I see is: does globalization work, globalization causes for inequality and exploitation among developing nations while wealthier nations prosper, what are the skepticisms of globalization, and how can globalization be a positive and successful aspect to the world. All of these debates arise because many key players understand that globalizationhas many positive and negative aspects about it; therefore, there is a large debate in if it truly works as an option for societies to truly use it. According to sociologist Cees Hamelink, there are many skeptics who debate if globalization truly works; however, skeptics of globalization offer insights on how what seems to be growth and mobility to supporters is actually limited by various factors. Skeptics argue that globalization may seem great on the surface with its movements of growth and prosperity for everyone; however, as they support their claims, globalization to them is only about the benefits of the wealthy and less of the middleman. They see the global market as a means of investments for larger companies who benefit in specific regions rather than a so called global economy with various nations having companies benefiting from trade. Therefore, they find the global economy and financial markets to be, in essence fake, meaning, these skeptics only see limitations for many smaller countries and only a few powerful countries prosper. Skeptics also make the argument against supporters that globalization points out the disparity amongst people rather than growth in expanding networks and communication. They point this out because not every person has a smartphone, a computer, a tablet, or other network device, which limits their vote in being active in global communication. It also means not everyone has access to becoming a part of the global market nor does it mean they can all share the same good life that supporters talk about. Therefore, global integration to skeptics is not equally spread worldwide, so, there is a difference in the visibility and availability amongst consumers in a global market.Overall, skeptics argue that globalization is too limited by

  • 28. Pascal s Wager Argument Analysis In this essay, I will argue that Pascal s Wager gives a good argument and reason to the agnostic for them to believe in the existence of God and become a theist. Pascal s Wager is based on a decision of dominance and gives the agnostic an option to believe in God and therefore, receive salvation, and the benefits that come with this belief or believe in him and loose nothing. There are a number of arguments and objections that try to prove the Wager wrong, that the argument implies elements of cult brainwashing for belief and that Godwould not be so egotistical to demand belief in him in return for salvation, but I will argue the falsehood of these objections to prove that the argument gives good reason for an agnostic to become a theist.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Groothuis, 1994) Pascal believes that in doing so it is a way of changing a person s existence for the better. He therefore does not say that God demands belief for salvation but rather that through the belief of God this salvation will be a benefit as the belief in the existence of God is not isolated from the benefits of salvation that come with it. (Groothuis, 1994) One must first find the want for salvation due to immoral actions and the need for forgiveness and thereafter will receive the benefits of belief. Therefore, Pascal belief in the deity is necessary. One must therefore be brave enough to make the wager to receive the grace (Groothuis, 1994) as faith is a different thing from proof, proof is a human thing and faith is a gift from god. (Janzen, 2010) I think that it is simply not fair for people to expect salvation and grace from their creator without any belief or praise in him. I think this creator would be offended if people do not bother to believe in him but still expect salvation as this does not seem like a fair trade. This therefore shows the objection that God would not be so egotistical is proven false as the benefit of salvation is not isolated from a belief in God and does not demand flattery for these spiritual and ethical

Nutrient Credit Trade Environmental credits (ECs) such as carbon credit, nutrient credit, and water quality credit are designed to conserve the environmental and ecosystem services and to promote sustainable development. ECs trading in a market creates incentives for the protection of environmental amenities along with minimization of associated externalities. It also helps to meet the regulatory requirement for the emitters. The regulation restricts stakeholders to load or emit pollutions in specified amount (i.e. emission cap) but the flexibility of loading emissions is maintained to allow trades to occur between different agents. The nitrogen price in the Pennsylvania nutrient credit market was $8/lbN in 2009 while the minimum price that sustains the farmers willingness to enter into the credit market was $20/lbN (Jones et al., 2010). However, as pointed out by Jones et al. Zhang et al. (2013) use the price of nutrient credit as $20/lbN, $10 $15/lbP and $0.005/kg CO2 in the environmental credit

Every event that occurs when the novel begins to unravel as each man has a mess tin full for the evening, to the moment where Remarque shifts to show fighting the oversized, disgusting rats in order to get a crust off an old sandwich exemplifies the war. On a Tuesday there is a long wait until the much desired Friday and Saturday, but it s an inevitable step in the right direction. I am twenty one and it is Tuesday. The depression pills did not work as I had hoped they would. There is no such thing as a miracle drug. After a month I refused to take them any longer. I felt like my pills were controlling my life so I was also weaned off the bloodpressure medicine treating my migraines. I only remained on the two medications I absolutely needed: Synthroid for my Hashimoto s disease and omeprazole for my acid reflux. I felt like I was beginning to take back control of my life. In the sample case, Claire made an offer when she made a phone call and pledged $1000 to save the dogs . Acceptance is the subsequent element that develops when parties enter into an agreement. Engs also states facts about the different drinking ages in other countries, and that the United States has the highest legal purchasing age for alcoholic beverages in the world. Engs suggests that we need to change the current prohibition law and teach responsible drinking techniques for people that choose to consume alcohol. Engs states facts, suggests alternative solutions, and relates the past from the present; this is why her article is believable. Engs does have many valid points in this article; however the drinking age probably won t change any time soon. The problem with drinking and driving would greatly increase, if the prohibition were to change the law of purchasing or consuming alcohol. Society would break out in madness and there would probably be many riots, and reports of violent behavior would increase. I believe that Engs has a fantastic argument; however the government probably won t change their drinking laws in the near future. Engs obviously has a great experience with this topic because she is a professor at Indiana University in the Health and Science department. However, I am not sure why she is trying to argue for the drinking age to be lowered because she is obviously over the age of 21. She has many strong points and can tell she has done a serious amount of research on this topic. Engs does give many examples about how college students drink responsibly.
