As I read the reading assignment and watched the film, I realized I could relate
these two sources. First of all, the House(Ballroom) represents Black masculinity
within femininity and also culture of Black drag queens who are frequently socially
shunned performers compete in elaborate balls to support/comfort each other. So, I
believe the documentary, Paris Burning by Jennie Livingston is very similar but
different at the same time of the book Is Paris Burning by Bell Hooks. The author s
argument can be related to the filmin ways of both the book and the documentary
