An arc blast or flash can occur when workers service electrical power, transmission, and distribution systems using high voltage. It is important to understand the OSHA, NFPA, IEEE and NEC requirements as well as the hierarchy of controls to reduce the risk. Understanding how to calculate a flash analysis to determine the protection boundaries, train workers on the hazards of high voltage electricity and use of personal protective equipment and clothing, and using the right tools for the job are all important steps. Learn more about arc blast/flash in this presentation. If you need advice or help with electrical safety, contact our staff of CSPs at The Windsor Consulting Group, Inc. We have past performance working with contractors near powerlines and underground utilities.

Lightning, Surge Protection & Earthing of Electrical & Electronic Systems in ...Living Online
Few topics generate as much controversy and argument as that of lightning and surge protection of electrical and electronic systems. Poor practices in earthing, and incorrect application and selection of lightning and surge protection devices can be the cause of continual and intermittent problems in a facility, often resulting in lost production and equipment failure.
This workshop looks at these issues from a fresh yet practical perspective and enables you to reduce expensive down time on your plant and equipment by the correct application of these principles. Essentially the workshop is broken down into the methods used to prevent lightning entering a facility such as dissipation arrays and those that divert surge energy away from sensitive equipment.
Dissipation systems are discussed with associated earthing systems. The unique properties of various surge protection devices are reviewed, enabling you to select the correct device suited to the application required. Earthing and surge protection for telecommunications and IT systems are examined in detail as well as the impact of lightning and simple techniques for minimising its impact.

In any kind of manufacturing industry, the calibration of instrument plays a very important role and also it occupies a very significant place. Whenever a product comes into existence, back of it there's a perfect flow calibration. Calibration is a set of operations, which under certain conditions build relationships amongst values indicated by a measuring instrument.

Grounding:
A conducting connection, whether intentional or accidental, bywhich an electric circuit or equipment is connected to the earth, or to someconducting body of relatively large extent that serves in place of the earth.
Grounded system:
A system of conductors in which at least one conductor or point (usually the middle wire or neutral point of transformer or generator windings) is intentionally grounded, either solidly or through an impedance.
Grounded solidly:
Connected directly through an adequate ground connection in which no impedance has been intentionally inserted.
Grounded effectively:
Grounded through a sufficiently low impedance such that for all system conditions the ratio of zero sequence reactance to positive sequence reactance (X0/X1) is positive and less than 3, and the ratio of zero sequence resistance to positive sequence reactance (R0/X1) is positive and less than 1.

Make 2018 the year you take the plunge and implement digital technology and signage solutions. That’s one resolution you can’t afford not to keep.
Nearly everyone out there is misleading you about AV-over-IP. It’s not easy, it’s not lossless compression and it’s not going to happen overnight. But, it IS the future of AV signal distribution. There is no standard that everyone has adopted for sending AV signals (video, audio, control and power) over the network – there are multiple ways of doing it and none of the different options are interoperable. So, buyer and adopter beware.
Gary’s Kayye’s latest keynote will help guide the future of AV-over-IP as not only is he a respected AV technologist, but he’s help set the standards in signal routing before. So, both the manufacturers and the integrators will be listening to his opinions on this and which AV-over-IP “standard” he likes best.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
