POSTMODERNISM
POSTMODERNISM
DEFINITIONPostmodernism is a wide-ranging term which is applied to
literature, art, philosophy, architecture, fiction and cultural
literary criticism, among others. It is associated with
deconstruction and post-structuralism because its usage as a
term gained significant popularity at the same time as the
twentieth-century post-structural thought.
Postmodernism itself had been a drastic departure from
modernism’s utopian visions based on clarity and simplicity. It
had been a way in which modernists could open a window onto
a new world. Therefore, postmodernism was a movement in
architecture that rejected the modernist, avant garde, passion
for the new.
