This is the poster avert for the album Settle by Disclosure. Comparing it to the digipak design, the
design for the poster for this album has changed slightly. The positioning of the text has changed
so that it is positioned at the bottom of the poster compared to it being at the top for the digipak.
A reason for why this has happened is because the poster size is a lot longer length ways therefore
keeping the same image would result in a lot of blank space at the bottom of the page. Moving it
to the bottom would fill this gap, but only due to the design changing again and making the band
name “Disclosure” in a bigger font size to achieve this and then having the album name “Settle”
underneath the band name and in a smaller size and right aligned. I feel this is a better design
compared to the CD digipak as the larger font size allows the bands name stand out more on the
page which I feel is a good feature as it is the most important element I feel to make sure the
audience knows who’s album it is. They have incorporated this well also by changing the font
colour to white and then adding a black background to the bottom of the poster to enable the text
to stand out really clearly when looking at it. Another positive design change from the poster to
the CD front cover is that the font size of the alum name has changed. Allowing the band name to
be larger on the page than the album name. Which I feel is how it should be as the bands name is
more important than the album name because the audience will chose whose album they buy
due to band/artist it is. An element to this poster that I feel links well throughout there products
and between the digipak and the poster is the consistency. Having the same iconic style on the
eyes of the figures on their products and then combining the digipak and the poster designs
together. As they have added the vintage CD disk outline which was on the back cover of the
digipak showing that they are considering there designs carefully to make sure they all link and
create familiarity between them. This is a feature that I will be incorporating into my designs as I
feel it is the best way to allow the audience become used to the designs released form the band
and allow them to spot a bands product easily.
