A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a
wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and
graphic elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or
wholly text. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and
informative. Posters may be used for many purposes.
PURPOSES
To motivate the students to learn.
To convey information quickly and easily.
To create an aesthetic effects.
To serve as an instructional aid
both in the classroom and
in the community.
FEATURES OF A GOOD POSTER
A good poster should have the following features:
Brevity : Message conveyed should be concise.
Simplicity : Message should be easily understandable.
Concepts : Should be based on a single and relevant idea.
Layout : Should be simple and attractive.
Color : Poster should be attractive and eye-catching with suitable
colors and color combinations.
RULES TO PREPARE POSTER
 To do a special job.
 To promote one point.
 To support local demonstration and local exhibits.
 Planned for the specified people.
 It should stop the people and make them to look.
 Tell the message in a single glance.
 Use bold letters ( 20” 30”)
 Use simple, few words
which
conveys one side.
 Use pleasing colors.
 It should be placed,
where people pass or
gather together.
 Poster can be developed
with the help of an artist.
ADVANTAGES OF POSTERS
Complex ideas and concepts can be conveyed more easily
through posters.
Posters are very attractive and hence they convey the
message more quickly.
Posters promotes students skill in creativity.
They can stand alone and are self-explanatory.

Assessment of the students critical thinking abilities can be done
through posters.
Posters provide students with feedback from peers and faculty.

Can be frustrating to students
