The document summarizes the student's experience in a radiologic technology course. It discusses some of her favorite assignments, including self-assessments that showed her areas of improvement and a scavenger hunt that taught her about campus resources. Her favorite week included journal entries, re-taking a self-assessment, and completing a service learning project. She learned effective studying techniques from course videos that she will apply going forward. Self-assessments indicated growth in five areas, showing her capacity to improve. The document concludes with a summary of a radiologic technologist's job duties and software used.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Elva MatamorosAssociate of Applied Science Degree in
Radiologic Technology
• I am capable
• I believe in myself
• I am a strong woman
• I love helping people
• I accept myself just as I am
• I am worthy
• I know I can accomplish anything I set my mind to
2. My Favorite Assignment
• Self-Assessments ( Chapter 1 journal entry & chapter 9 journal
33) -This assignment was meaningful to me because we took an
assessment at the beginning and at the endo of the course and it showed me
in what areas I had improved. I was pleased to learn that I did improve and
will only continue to.
• Scavenger Hunt
-I enjoyed this assignment because I learned about the services offered at
Grayson College. I found out where and who to go to in case I need their
services or help.
• Dr. Chew’s Videos
-I found that Dr. Chew’s videos are very helpful. I learned the word and the
meaning of Metacognition. I learned about effective and ineffective studying
skills and what to do to improve that. This is something that is definitely
going to help me in college.
3. My Favorite Journals
• Chapter 2 journal entry 8
-In this activity I practiced disputing the judgements between my inner
critic and inner defender. I discovered that the way I think about myself,
determines my outcome. It can encourage me to be positive and do better.
• Chapter 8 journal entry 29
-This assignment was meaningful to me because I got to explore and learn
about my emotions. It got me thinking deep about how I felt at the time of
those events and how I feel now.
• Chapter 3 journal entry 11 -
In this journal entry I wrote about one of my major goals. I got to visualize
myself graduating and my family being there to support me. This one
actually felt so real and it had me with the feeling of butterflies in my
stomach.
4. My Favorite Week
• My favorite week was week 7.
- This was my favorite week for several reasons:
* On our journal entry 29 I wrote about a few experiences and how
the made me feel.
* We re-took our self-assessment and I found out I made
improvements.
* I got to write a letter to upcoming students taking this course. I
wrote about the benefits of this class and what they can expect.
* I did my service learning project. I got to go to a nurses' office as an
assistant and help her out.
5. Lessons
• The lessons I will carry with me into the next
semesters will be Dr. Chew’s videos and
lessons. These videos were very helpful to
me. I did not only learned about the meaning
of Metacognition, but I learned that I have
studying in ineffective and superficial ways.
The recommendations he gave us I will
definitely put in practice and they will help
me along the way in my college classes.
