DEFINITION:
The rapid growth of the worlds
population over the past one
hundred years results
From a difference between the rate
od birth and the rate of death.the
human population will increase by
one billion people in the next
decade
Causes of rapid population growth
 The

success in reducing death rates was
the major reason,it was attributable to
several factors :
 increase in food production and
distribution
 Improvement in public health
 Medical technology, along with gains in
education and standards of living with in
many developing nations
control measures:
 Education

:



Literacy plays a major role in controlling population growth



Improving the literacy rate especially in women can help a lot



Government benefits:



Government benefits should be allow to only people having small
families

Publicity:
The importance of birth control measures should be published through
media,socialnetworks
OVERALL VIEW:


In the 20th century, human population has grown much
faster than before.



Between 1950-1990---population crossed 5 billion mark
i.e; 92 million every year



In the year 2000 the world population was 6.3 billion and
it is predicted to grow 4 times in next 100 years
INDIAN SCENARIO:


Population of india is more than one billion ---- second
most populous country next to china



In 2050 the expected indian population is 1.63 billions---will surpass china in 2030 .



In just 35 years after independence we added another
india in terms of population



Now Current situation--- we can say every 6th person in
this world is indian
Adverse Effects of Population Explosion



Resource Depletion



Environmental Degradation



Increase in waste Production



Air,Water and soil pollution
Important Views On Population Growth
Malthusian theory:


Human populations tend to grow at an exponentential rate
where as food production tend to very slow growth.



Starvation,poverty,disease,crime and misery are expected.



For stabilizing the population growth we need



“positive checks” –famines, disease outbreak and violence



“preventive checks” –birth control systems
Maxian theory –karl Marx



Population growth – a symptom rather than cause of
poverty, resource depletion ,population and other
problems



Social exploitation and oppression of the less privileged
people leads to poverty,unemployment,environmental
degradation and in turn cause over population.


population explosion
