Common Core Standards Analysis
Analysis Using Common Core Standards The Common Core State Standards, also known as
CCSS, are the academic standards in the state of California. The CCSS outlines what students
should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. To evaluate John Black and Maria
Mendoza s opinion essay, I will be using the CCSS generic 4 point opinion writingrubric. I will use
each of the three main categories from the rubric, which include: statement of purpose/focus and
organization, language and elaboration of evidence, and conventions to evaluate the two student
writing samples. I will give the students a score of 0 4 for each category and discuss a lesson to
address the certain writing issues the students need help with. Sample 1 by John Black received
a score of 3 under the statement of purpose/focus and organization category from the CCSS
rubric. I gave John a score of 3 because in the category it states the response is adequately and for
the most part focused and overall John maintained focused however, there were a few sentences that
did not belong. Score 3 in that category also states the opinion is clear and for the most part
maintained. Throughout the essay, John maintains his opinion and is very clear... Show more

For sample 1 I gave John a score of 3 because he has some spelling errors and incorrect grammar,
but not too many. The main issue I noticed in John s essay was the use of pronouns. John would
use they but often it was hard to know who the subject was, which made it confusing. To help
John I would have a lesson on pronouns and identifying the subjects in a sentence. Maybe have
different sentences where students can identify the subject of the sentence. For sample 2 Maria
received a score of 2 because there are lots of misspelling errors and errors using present and past
tense. To help improve Maria s spelling I would give her spelling exercises or games and also
assign weekly spelling

(Acts 10:19 20) The church of Antioch, as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, was

Joseph was instructed by an angel to keep Mary as his wife, even though she was pregnant from

the will of God in his word, and in Godly counsel and wisdom. In each case, believers were
instructed in matters beyond the scope of this level of revelation and God moved especially to give
them direction as they needed it.
This waiting on the Lord is a matter of continuity, something that one is regularly doing without
extended interruption or lapse. Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and
wait on thy God continually. (Hosea 12:6) It is not a seasonal, sporadic, or spasmodic thing,

Management and Functional Areas
1. In the light of the system, describe the decisions to be made in the area of strategic planning,
managerial control and operational control? What information would you require to make such
decisions?
Ans. A management information system (MIS) is an organized combination of people, hardware,
communication networks and data sources that collects, transforms and distributes information in
an organization. An MIS helps decision making by providing timely, relevant and accurate
information to managers. The physical components of an MIS include hardware, software,
database, personnel and procedures.

to take decisions, which may be rapidly changing and not easily specified in advance. Improving
personal efficiency, expediting problem solving (speed up the progress of problems solving in an
organization), facilitating interpersonal communication, promoting learning and training, increasing
organizational control, generating new evidence in support of a decision, creating a competitive
advantage over competition, encouraging exploration and discovery on the part of the decision

Joan Of Arc s Hundred Years War
1337 marks the beginning of what historians have called the Hundred Years war. There had
always been conflicts and clashes between England and France, as many English kings had
property they resided over in Northern France (278). After the monarchy of the Capetians ended,
a struggle ensued on who would become the rightful heir to the throne in France. England looked
to take the title King and unite the two countries under one king or ruler, but a girl by the name
Joan of Arc would halt the plans of the English. She would in turn help the true king; dauphne
Charles take his rightful throne in the years to come. 1412 Joan of Arc is born 1415 Henry V of

History And Culture Of The Cook Islands
History of Culture
The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient
migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain
James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries
started to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and
schools to share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity.
In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends
of migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and
inheritors, Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in
comparison to Greece s heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted
a similar and identical concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of:
connection, feasting, dancing, offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of
individualism (Cook Islands: Art and Culture).
Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. Since the Cook Islands are made up of
many smaller islands, it is relevant that Cook Islanders choose to identify first with their individual
island and secondarily with the country as an entirety.
Uniqueness of the Culture
Differing from other regions and their cultures, Polynesian culture is unique due to having their own

Examples Of Homerun Of A Role Model
A Homerun of a Role Model
Have you ever had someone that you look up to? Well, most people in the world do have role
models. Whether it is a family member, a friend, or just a great person, role models are
phenomenal things for people to have. Role models can help you strive for greatness, or make
you yearn to be an overall better person. One individual that I look up to is Derek Jeter because he
lived a life full of adversity, he attacks challenges with ferocity, and he performs under intense
pressure. Many people have lived hard lives and gone on to greatness. This is definitely the case
with Derek Jeter. The first reason that Derek Jeter is my role model is because he lived a life full
of adversity. Derek s mother was white, while his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how much pressure you put on him, he will never break down or falter. The third and
final reason why I admire Jeter is he performs well under tremendous pressure. When D.J. was
brought up from the minors, he was chosen to wear number two. This is very symbolic in the
Yankee organization. The Yankees only gave these low numbers to the players who were
supposed to be exceptional. This meant that Derek was to follow in the footsteps of Babe Ruth,
Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle. These expectations made him very nervous, but
Jeter still performed extraordinarily. The other reason that D.J. is under tremendous pressure is
because he plays on the most recognized sports franchise in history. No matter what he does, he
s under a ton of scrutiny. A third reason that he s under this pressure is that not only is Derek a
player on the Yankee, but he is actually there team captain. Being the captain of the New York
Yankees is the hardest job available in sports. You don t have any room for a single mistake. This is
the last reason why D.J. is my role model. Over the course of his prolific MLB career, Derek Jeter
has silenced a lot of critics and made a lot of people realize that you don t have to be born with
talent to make something with your life. I feel honored that I am alive during the life of this great
player. Derek Jeter is my role model because he lived a life full of adversity, he attacks challenges

Types of Pirate Ships

Carracks can carry 1,200 pounds and are one of the largest ships that pirates used. There are also
other kinds of ships that pirates use like Naval ships, Cargo ships, and Transportation ships.
First of all, Naval ships have lots of armor and cannons for protection, like an Ironclad with iron
frames for protection from cannons and other fire power from enemy ships. The Brig and
Panstership are both huge Naval ships. Also a fire ship was a ship filled with TNT that could be
lighted and used to destroy other ships. The Corvette was a lightly armed warship, also Cutters
were fast warships. The Sloop of War has 18 cannons. Another one, is the Penteconter was a 50 oar

Zoroastrianism Essay examples
Zoroastrianism
Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest monotheistic religions in the world today. Its adherents number
250,000, but thousands of years ago it was the state religion of the mighty Persian Empire and one
of the most powerful religions in the world. In this paper I will tell you about the history of
Zoroastrianism and its founder, Zoroaster, also known as Zarathushtra. I will discuss their scripture,
doctrines, and end by examining in detail the commonalities in both doctrine and legend which will
illustrate the influence that Zoroastrianism has had on more modern monotheistic religions.

(BBC, 2005) Today in India there still exists a large number of these Parsis.
Zoroastrian Scripture
Zoroastrian scripture is called the Avestaand was passed down orally generation after generation by
priests. As time passed, the language of the people changed in such a way that the meaning of the
teachings of Zarathushtra became difficult to understand, perhaps not unlike old English has
evolved into the modernized American version we used in the United States today. Because of this,
the oral tradition of the Avesta became more of an explanation in more plain terms of the ancient
script. (Skjaervo, 2005)
There two different parts to the Avesta. The old Avesta contains the Gathas written by
Zarathushtra which consists of 17 poems, or hymns, written for Ahura Mazda and are designed
to encourage people to live their lives as directed by God. The religious view of the Gathas in
the world is that we live in as a theater of conflict between two diametrically opposed moral spirits
(mainyus), they stand for mental attitudes in the psychological domain, and also opposing moral
vectors in all of creation. They are the Spirit of Goodness (Spenta Mainyu), and the Spirit of Evil.
(CAIS, 2006).
The other section of the Avesta includes:
В•The Yasna: Recited during the fire ritual.
В•The Videvdad: This discusses the duality of the earth.

Michael Phelps Is An International Swimming Sensation
Michael Phelps is an international swimming sensation from the United States. Born in 1985 in
Baltimore Maryland, he began swimming at an early age. By age fifteen, he competed in his first
Olympics as a member of the U.S. men s swim team. Not seven years later, Phelps dominated the
next Olympic Games and set the world records.
Phelps is most known for his Olympian status and endorsement deals. At just twenty two years old,
Phelps set the world record for men s swimming medals earned during the Olympics. He also set
the record for most medals won by an Olympian athlete. Michael Phelps became the face of men s

and was determined to keep swimming.
Water is always nearby in the Baltimore, Maryland area, and most residents gravitate towards
the water via boating and swimming. Phelps took a love of water more seriously and began to
hone his swimming skills to become the best in Maryland. Soon after wishing to become the best
in Maryland, Phelps set his sights on the Olympics. He began swimming at a high school pool and
training at an aquatic club in Maryland. The coach could sense the fierce competition and skill
Phelps portrayed in the water and began to work with Michael with intense training sessions. At
age fifteen, Phelps was the youngest member of the Olympic American male swim team in sixty
eight years. He did not win any medals at this Olympic Games, but he made the team, set a record,
and left determined to try again.
Michael Phelps had ample time to drop out of swimming, pursue other interests, or become
discouraged. Despite being the youngest man on most every swim team, and not winning as many
awards early on, Phelps continued to train and workout daily and stuck to a strict diet designed to
keep his body in ideal shape for swimming. His

Classical Influences On Modern Films And Literature
Vuong KhuatClassical influences on modern films and literature
Classical Greece and Rome were ancient civilizations that existed 2500 years ago, and are
regarded by numerous scholars as the foundation of humanities in various fields. In popular culture,
Ancient Greece and Rome are portrayed substantially in books and movies; however, not many
people are aware of how they also shape our thoughts, ideals, and motivations. Through an analysis
of classical elements often portrayed in popular media, this essay attempts to illustrate how the
representation of classical Greece and Rome in books and movies influence our lives and emphasize
the need to stay informed as these influences can be both beneficial and detrimental to our
perception of the world.
The way ancient culture can impact our ideals is demonstrated by various contemporary adaptations
of Greek mythology. For instance, in 1997, Walt Disney produced the animated movie Hercules,
based on stories about the legendary Greek hero who persevered through numerous labors and
challenges to eventually gained a place in Mount Olympus, the home of the gods. Hercules was
a major box office hit among children and had left a deep impression on how they perceive the
qualities of a hero. Similarly, the 2004 film Troy, based loosely on Homer s the Iliad, tells the
story of Achilles and the Trojan War. Troy was a critical success, grossing nearly 500 million
dollars worldwide. But the movie did not exhibit merely entertainment

economy in The Futurist the problems that gasoline imposes along with its inefficiencies, and
that America and its consumers used about137.8 billion gallons of gasoline just in the year
2008. At an average cost of $3.55 per gallon that cost Americans half a trillion dollars, half of
which would be eliminated by the adopted use of the electric car. Though this potential savings
raises eyebrows, is it enough to incur the potential costs of the electric car movement? Value, it s
how consumers decide on which purchases to make. Is the cost of the product or service worth
my money, if so by how much, and what other establishments offer the same viable options at a

Relationship Essay (Gilbert Grape)
In the film What s Eating Gilbert Grape? directed by Lasse Halstrom, one important relationship
is between Gilbert (the main character) and his mother, Bonnie. They are always in constant
turmoil, and hardly ever see eye to eye. Towards the end of the film their attitudes change towards
each other, we see their relationship strain and then become extremely close. This is important
because they don t have a real mother, son relationship so this is worked on during the film.
Gilbert is not an honest, reliable son; he looks after Arnie, but does not fulfil his duties as a son.

Enrico Fermi and the Development of the Atomic Bomb
The 20th century saw many important discoveries which impacted people worldwide. Great
discoveries were made in the realm of science and technology which lead to the atomic age. One
of the leading pioneers in the area of physics was Enrico Fermi. Without his contributions, the
atomic bomb may not have been developed or would have possibly been postponed. Enrico
Fermi was born into a family who had enough money to live comfortably. Fermi was born in
Rome on the 29th of September,1901, the son of Alberto Fermi, a Chief Inspector of the Ministry
of Communications, and Ida de Gattis (Mawson 12). Although he had a comfortable life, he also

spent four years at the University of Pisa, gaining his doctoral degree in physics in 1922 #8230;
(12). He was even teaching his teachers there by 1920. While still an undergraduate, Fermi
worked out his first theory of permanent value to physics. He also attended the Universities of
Rome, Leiden and Gottingen. His only setback was a period of post doctoral study in Germany in
1923 among such talents such as Wolfgang Pauli and Werner Heisenberg when his talents went
unrecognized (154). He preferred simplicity and concreteness rather than pretension and the
philosophic German style. J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theorist, later described Fermi as
not a philosopher and unable to let things be foggy. He had a passion for clarity. After Fermi
graduated, he went straight to work. He began teaching at different universities. He taught at the

Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict
Conflict is generally considered a typical part of human interactions and is not in itself essentially
damaging. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are
going to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of
managing a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or
disappointing outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflictmanagementstyle,
along with its inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to
deal with conflict in a positive manner.
What Is Conflict?
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong
disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that
prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of
conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging.
Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and
Majtuba (2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference
of opinion or position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or
needs should take place (Daria Prause, 2015). Secondly, the parties of the conflict should be
identified. Although some parties are not aware of their

Argumentative Essay On Wrongful Convictions And DNA
Wrongful Convictions and DNA
I am sided with the right to allow DNA Analysis for a crime a suspect is convicted for committing
but is pledging not guilty in the trial. About 0.5% convictions of crime are the innocent serving jail
time in prison or death row and are not even the actual suspect of the crime scene putting other
people at fault of those who have not done any harm. This even violates an individual s right of
freedom as they are being wrongfully accused and imprisoned. These people who are being
accused should have the right to be proven they are not the suspect by true accurate DNA analysis
over false eyewitness or misidentification as even it can be used as an importance of pulling vital
clues regarding the perpetrator of a crime in which a victim s condition is unrecognizable to family
or friends.
DNA testing is a critical and accurate tool in linking accused and even convicted criminals for
crimes, and should be widely used to assess guilt or innocence before jail sentences are imposed. It
was started up by scientists Francis C. Crick and James D, Watson in 1953 as they had described the

The Current Five Step Program Enacted By The Department Of...
The current five step program enacted by the Department of Human Services is both inefficient and
permissive, calling for minimal action and few opportunities for the reconnection of a family. Often
times, case workers of the Department of Human Services (DHS) attempt to persuade young people
into removal and treatment with no clear understanding of the challenges that the familyfaces. Case
workers, although inclined to tell you they are there to keep the family together, often lead to
tearing a family apart because of the lack of assistance offered by DHS. A study done by Roan
Fairbairn and David Murray explored the gaps in care provided by DHS and its workers, with the
outcomes of the youth involved; most importantly targeting how case workers interacted with young
people, stating that strategies that attempt to engage young people in a dialogue about their
individual circumstances, including drug use, may be more effective than attempts to coerce them
into treatment. They go on to explain that practioners with the best intentionsintervene and
inadvertently cause more harm for the clients than if they had not acted at all. (Fairbairn and
Murray 18) Little is available in terms of a nationwide change. In recent years, a call to action
has been released with a keen eye on the lack of progress made by DHS to change their system.
The Children s Bureau is one of many organizations that plan to tackle this issue head on. Upon

Populism In America
Populism was valuable in how it has impacted the United States rhetoric that is still evident in the
modern day especially in the Presidential Election of 2016. For example, Bernie Sander s campaign
of protection of the 99%, and Donald Trump s rhetoric of protecting the forgotten people who are
overlooked all take inspiration from the Populist platform. Populism has had both positive and
negative influences in America, however, some aspects of Populism is found internationally in
Latin America and Europe as well. The positive aspect of Populism can be found in American
policies that safeguard protections over the citizenry. For instance, maximum hour laws and the
Australian ballot system ensures the equal opportunity every citizen in America... Show more

However, this growing distrust and resentment the Populists often fell victim to gives rise to an
ethnoreligious nationalism where this resentment fuels into violence within the country. Figures
such as Donald Trump appeal to the plain people because he exemplifies the resentment and
contempt aspect of Populism by dwelling on the threats posed by outsiders . He establishes his
rhetoric on the basis of a hierarchy existing in the country and that certain groups who are true
American should reap the rewards that have been denied to them. He claims to be the mouthpiece
for the common man who has been ignored by the government and deserve to be heard. Throughout
the American rhetoric, Populism echoes the Lockean liberal thought of liberal thought of the social

Illegal Immigration, the Drain on the U.S. Economy
The amount of money that comes out of your pocket for schooling, incarceration, jobs lost, and
maintaining the medical system in the United States because of illegal immigrants may be more than
people know. During the past few decades, the influx of illegal immigrants has risen dramatically.
Illegal immigrants put a huge strain on our school systems, commit a disproportionate amount of
crimes in this country and have taken many jobs that American citizens unemployed could do. The
economic drain on the school systems is growing rapidly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is stated by many politicians that the illegals only take the jobs that American citizens do not
want. With the guest worker program and the use of H 1B visas, businesses use these workers at
a significant lower rate of pay than they would have to pay a citizen. The number of H 1B visas
issued in 1992 was estimated at less than 100,000. By 2002 the number climbed to over 1 million
(Wagner, 2007). This abuse of the working visa is absolutely legal by any company looking for
workers that are not citizens. The big business corporations are not looking to change this law as
they would be out of pocket a great deal more money in wages. Every single person in the United
States will be touched by the effects of illegals in this country at some point in their life. It may
come in the form of a grocery bill, auto insurance, property taxes, driver s license fees, hospital
rates or many other areas. In the area of healthcare, the influx of illegals has proven to put a huge
burden in all areas of the system. In California over the last decade many hospitals and
emergency rooms have closed due to the illegals being treated there and not being able to pay the
bills from the hospital. Right now, California out of the 50 states is last in the number of
emergency rooms per million people (Jones, 2012, #6.). The insurance premiums for citizens keep
increasing because when the illegal s go to an emergency room

These laid down two distinct lines of Enlightenment thought: the moderate variety, following

Television And Reality Television Shows Essay
The media as a whole has been a huge impact on their viewers lives. People do not just watch a
television show, they tend to normalize the characters and their roles into their day to day lives.
When analyzing the media and focusing on drama and reality television shows, the impact that
these shows have on some of their women viewers are noticeable. Televisiondrama shows are
fictions that the average person can relate to. They are made with real life problems that people
can sympathize with. Television dramas have become the newest therapy to people. People go to
these over dramatized shows for the answer to their problems. Most tend to forget that these are
fictional television shows, meaning they are made up characters with false problems. These shows
tend to show women as the house wife, pretty and skinny, and powerful but weak minded. When
looking at reality televisionalthough it is unscripted and tend to be real life situations, producers
do pick out cast that are not relatable to and unlike the average person. On television dramas and
reality shows men tend to be shown as dominating women in relationships, as women are shown
as the men s trophy. Also, as a whole television dramas and reality shows show women as sexy
figures, emotionally unstable, and less than a man which effects their everyday lives. Television
dramas and reality shows has a negative effect on femaleviews by showing them in a negative light.

The Fuel Of The Diesel Engine
The diesel engine has been the number one choice for power, reliable and high fuel economy
worldwide (Jääskeläinen, 2013). However, as petroleum becomes more and more expensive,
the new challenge that has been presented to todays society has been to find a sustainable way to
continue running these engines without relying on diminishing petrol supplies (Connolly, 2013).
The world has turned to biofuels; the use of biodieselcan produce power, performance and
economy, along with assisting in the reduction of emissions and Greenhouse gases. However, its
widespread use has been halted due to the ethical issues surrounding its production. The use of
agricultural land for the use of bio fuels, detriments the mass food crisis and insecurity that the
world faces. Is it really ethical to be using bio fuels to cut carbon emissions, which in turn could
lead to millions of people in Asia starving to death?
The inventor of the diesel engine, Dr. Rudolf Diesel, first conceptualised Biodiesel fuel in 1895.
He generated and demonstrated a diesel engine that used peanut oil as its main fuel source in
1900 at the Paris World Exhibition, as he viewed using vegetable oil fuel as a means to provide
economic growth in remote areas of the world due to widely available agricultural crops as the
source of the fuel (Diesel Service and Supply, 2013). In Australia, the use of bio diesel in the
transport industry has been under much debate. Bio diesel is produced through a process knows as

The Wonderful Life of Kay Buell Every individual s life has a past, present and future. My life has

California. My maturity level was one of a confident adult and wanting to capture this unknown
adventure. Stepping outside the box mentally helped me prepare for the culture shock that was

our independent personalities and way of thinking was not identical. Life experiences bring

Settling In The West Essay
Settling in the west After the Civil War, a dynamic period in American history opened the
settlement of the West. The lives of Western miners, farmers, and ranchers were often filled with
great hardships, but the wave of American settlers continued. railroads hastened this nation during
this period, many Native Americans lost their homeland and their way of life. Back in the day, the
cowboys were often people who herd and tend to the cattle. Cattle ranching or the practice of
raising livestocksuch as sheep or cattle for meator wool, was driven by the population in the west
and their desire to eat meat. When Cortez defeated the empire of the Aztec and Mayan they were
rich beyond their mind, but they lacked cattle so they imported cattle to Tampico, Mexico where
there was lots of open range for cattle. Hence they created cattle ranching for meat. The cattle
ranches not only provided meat, but also leather and candles. Small cattle and small farms of the

Emotional Intelligence, By Daniel Goleman
In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman discusses what emotional intelligence is, how
it can be achieved, and why it can matter more than your IQ. Emotional intelligence, by his
definition, is the ability to recognize and understand both our personal emotions and the emotions
of others. This also includes the ability to manage our personal emotions. He introduces us to the
topic and the history of the brain, discusses the importance of it in our lives, marriage, and
business, and concludes by suggesting it should be developed during childhood when the brain is
still developing. However, this does not mean our emotional intelligenceskills cannot be sharpened
and taught during adulthood. According to Goleman, academic intelligence has little to do with
emotional life (Goleman, 34) and therefore does not correlate immensely with success. More
specifically, he says IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine life success, which
leaves 80% to other forces... ranging from social class to luck (34). Essentially, this means that
just because you are smart, it does not mean you will be successful. You must have social skills
and good standing. Studies have found that having a high IQ, but low emotional intelligence
results in a sort of detachment a lack of understanding and a lack of interest in the world. By
contrast, a low IQ and high emotional intelligence result in an outgoing and cheerful personality,
with a desire to live life and find meaning in

Survival Of Tsarism Essay
How far were divisions amongst opponents responsible for the survival of Tsarist rule, 1881 1905?
Divisions of opposing groups of the Tsar were important to the survival of Tsarist Russia.
However, other factors such as the church, the belief of the divine right, the army and the Okhrana
were also effective in keeping the Tsar in a state of power.
Firstly, the opposition groups of the Tsar were known as the Populists, the Liberals and the
Marxists. Each group had its own ideas on what was needed for Russia and each group wanted
change, however, there were many problems within the groups and none of them were willing to
work with each other. The Populists who were mainly concentrated on establishing a democratic

These teachings were a massive problem for the Populists when they assassinated Tsar Alexander
II, the people of Russia had seen the culprits publicly hanged by the Tsar s son, Alexander III and
this caused massive hatred towards the opposition group, especially as the Populists were built up
of 85% of the peasant population! The Tsar was seen as the Dear Father , who would want to kill
someone who had been put on the throne by God himself?
Thirdly, the Tsar had the benefit of controlling the army and the secret police force, the Okhrana.
The Tsar was the commander and chief of the Russian army, he had total control of it and they
had been loyal to the Tsar for many years (Nicholas I had an input in creating the Okhrana). The
army and the Okhrana were used very efficiently by the Tsars. If anybody opposed the Tsar with
violent protests or demonstrations, the army would be called in and many of the protesters
would be shot and trampled on by horses. As well as removing current threats to the Tsar, the
armies input effected possible opponents, as they knew what their own fate would be if they also
tried to oppose the Dear father . The Okhrana was also very effective, it was known for infiltrating
opposition groups and dividing them even further. If an opposition group member was caught, they
would be exiled to Siberia to die a cold and

mafia, bullies and many more groups that have a bad image in general. Where they get it from is
understandable bad image equals a possibility and a reason to why Eric and Dylan could have

Abstract:
The rural settlement within the Malda district highlights human attempts for the livelihood and
building the habitat on the diverse geographical landscapes. The characteristics of its natural
endowments, social conditionality and historical antecedents and most importantly the human
efforts gave the rural countryside a certain kind of social and morphological characteristics. The
morphological characteristics of the villages have been collected from the different natural regions
of the districts in order to understand the divergent forces and feature of it. This paper has focused

The Story Of Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
To most individuals in today s society, the issues associated with the Islamic religion are widely
assumed as extreme and very convoluted. The average person has only heard rumors about what
exactly the Quran says or how Sharia law is interpreted and implemented. The story of Persepolis
sheds light onto some of the inner workings of how Islamic life and Sharialaw affected a population
and shaped the Islamic Revolution in Iran. This story is staged during a time of extensive change
within Iran, Marjane Satrapi documents this occurrence through her own firsthand experience
growing up in the years immediately preceding the Islamic Revolution and through her early teen
years before leaving for Austria.

Sharia Law is strictly governed by the teachings of the Quran and the Hadith. Sharia itself translates
to God s divine law. Examples of Sharia Law include but are not limited to: criminal, civil and
family rulings. Some of the primary criminal offenses included under Sharia Law are: theft,
apostasy, blasphemy, adultery, rape, sodomy, lesbianism, prostitution and consumption of alcohol.
Civil cases are usually limited to financial contracts, marriage, debt and financial support. Sharia
courts not only treat women and men differently in sentencing and testimony but the outcome of a
sentence can vary greatly on the forgiveness of a person wronged in a certain case.
Marjane Satrapi, born in Rasht, Iran in 1969, to a middle class family was raised primarily in
the city of Tehran. Both Marjane s mother and father were deeply involved in political activism.
After the revolution she moves to Austria where she completed the majority of her lower level
education at Lycee Francais de Vienne, at which time she fell ill and returned to Iran. She would
later be married and divorced to a veteran of the Iraq Iran war before moving to France.
Being raised in a culture that was focused around Marxist ideals gave light to a different type of
thought, which differed greatly from the traditional Muslim family raised in a middle eastern
country. Marjane has many views that are depicted throughout this story which do not align with

Gifted Flaws
People say that being smart or gifted is a superb kind of ability. However does society even
know the basic definition of giftedness? For example, Albert Einstein s name is associated with
the term genius in pop culture (Cohen), but people still don t know how the mind of a genius
thinks or what it goes through. This is a problem with society itself for not accepting different
people just because they are greater. Being a gifted has its advantages and its flaws such as how
gifted person can mean conflict with society, being gifted can mean things such as a higher IQ, and
gifted people contribute many important factors to innovation. PROBLEMS WITH A GIFTED.

Innovation is turning an idea into a solution that adds value from a customer s perspective. This
means that a gifted persons ability to tell the difference between the goals, assignment and mission
is crucial to innovation because they can focus on each aspect of innovation (Hoeller). They can
also make fabulous leaders because they can identify habits, traditions, and social pressure (
Hoeller ). However the people with these habits and traditions might hate the gifted leader.
Furthermore creative thinking is second nature for the gifted especially for innovation where you
need creative ideas. Another contribution they make is being versatile they can switch their jobs if
they need to and not just have one or two skills (Hoeller). The gifted may also have high passion
and commitment to a project or work (Hoeller). Lastly gifted people make their own solutions to a
problem and a higher authority s opinions doesn t matter to them. That is what a gifted contributes

  • 2. Common Core Standards Analysis Analysis Using Common Core Standards The Common Core State Standards, also known as CCSS, are the academic standards in the state of California. The CCSS outlines what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. To evaluate John Black and Maria Mendoza s opinion essay, I will be using the CCSS generic 4 point opinion writingrubric. I will use each of the three main categories from the rubric, which include: statement of purpose/focus and organization, language and elaboration of evidence, and conventions to evaluate the two student writing samples. I will give the students a score of 0 4 for each category and discuss a lesson to address the certain writing issues the students need help with. Sample 1 by John Black received a score of 3 under the statement of purpose/focus and organization category from the CCSS rubric. I gave John a score of 3 because in the category it states the response is adequately and for the most part focused and overall John maintained focused however, there were a few sentences that did not belong. Score 3 in that category also states the opinion is clear and for the most part maintained. Throughout the essay, John maintains his opinion and is very clear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For sample 1 I gave John a score of 3 because he has some spelling errors and incorrect grammar, but not too many. The main issue I noticed in John s essay was the use of pronouns. John would use they but often it was hard to know who the subject was, which made it confusing. To help John I would have a lesson on pronouns and identifying the subjects in a sentence. Maybe have different sentences where students can identify the subject of the sentence. For sample 2 Maria received a score of 2 because there are lots of misspelling errors and errors using present and past tense. To help improve Maria s spelling I would give her spelling exercises or games and also assign weekly spelling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. History And Culture Of The Cook Islands History of Culture The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries started to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and schools to share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity. In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends of migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and inheritors, Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in comparison to Greece s heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted a similar and identical concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of: connection, feasting, dancing, offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of individualism (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. The Yankees only gave these low numbers to the players who were supposed to be exceptional. This meant that Derek was to follow in the footsteps of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle. These expectations made him very nervous, but Jeter still performed extraordinarily. The other reason that D.J. is under tremendous pressure is because he plays on the most recognized sports franchise in history. No matter what he does, he s under a ton of scrutiny. A third reason that he s under this pressure is that not only is Derek a player on the Yankee, but he is actually there team captain. Being the captain of the New York Yankees is the hardest job available in sports. You don t have any room for a single mistake. This is the last reason why D.J. is my role model. Because of this, the oral tradition of the Avesta became more of an explanation in more plain terms of the ancient script. (Skjaervo, 2005) There two different parts to the Avesta. The old Avesta contains the Gathas written by Zarathushtra which consists of 17 poems, or hymns, written for Ahura Mazda and are designed to encourage people to live their lives as directed by God. In popular culture, Ancient Greece and Rome are portrayed substantially in books and movies; however, not many people are aware of how they also shape our thoughts, ideals, and motivations. Through an analysis of classical elements often portrayed in popular media, this essay attempts to illustrate how the representation of classical Greece and Rome in books and movies influence our lives and emphasize the need to stay informed as these influences can be both beneficial and detrimental to our perception of the world. The way ancient culture can impact our ideals is demonstrated by various contemporary adaptations of Greek mythology. For instance, in 1997, Walt Disney produced the animated movie Hercules, based on stories about the legendary Greek hero who persevered through numerous labors and challenges to eventually gained a place in Mount Olympus, the home of the gods. Hercules was a major box office hit among children and had left a deep impression on how they perceive the qualities of a hero. Similarly, the 2004 film Troy, based loosely on Homer s the Iliad, tells the story of Achilles and the Trojan War. Troy was a critical success, grossing nearly 500 million dollars worldwide. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are going to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of managing a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or disappointing outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflictmanagementstyle, along with its inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to deal with conflict in a positive manner. What Is Conflict? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging. Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and Majtuba (2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference of opinion or position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or needs should take place (Daria Prause, 2015). His dualism was challenged by Spinoza s uncompromising assertion of the unity of matter in his Tractatus and Ethics . These laid down two distinct lines of Enlightenment thought: the moderate variety, following Descartes, Locke and Christian Wolff which sought accommodation between reform and the traditional systems of power and faith and the radical enlightenment, inspired by the philosophy of Spinoza, advocating democracy, individual liberty, freedom of expression, and eradication of religious authority The moderate variety tended to be deistic whereas the radical tendency separated the basis of morality entirely from theology. • 37. Emotional Intelligence, By Daniel Goleman In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman discusses what emotional intelligence is, how it can be achieved, and why it can matter more than your IQ. Emotional intelligence, by his definition, is the ability to recognize and understand both our personal emotions and the emotions of others. This also includes the ability to manage our personal emotions. He introduces us to the topic and the history of the brain, discusses the importance of it in our lives, marriage, and business, and concludes by suggesting it should be developed during childhood when the brain is still developing. However, this does not mean our emotional intelligenceskills cannot be sharpened and taught during adulthood. According to Goleman, academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life (Goleman, 34) and therefore does not correlate immensely with success. More specifically, he says IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine life success, which leaves 80% to other forces... ranging from social class to luck (34). Essentially, this means that just because you are smart, it does not mean you will be successful. You must have social skills and good standing. By contrast, a low IQ and high emotional intelligence result in an outgoing and cheerful personality, with a desire to live life and find meaning in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
