Personal Finance Case
McLaughlin (2009) states that the example organizations balance sheet (p. 125) does not show
adequate cash assets (line 45), given a supposed annual budget of $3.5 million dollars, to provide
adequate daily cash flow needs (p. 124). With year end cash assets of only $16,190, working down the
list of liquidable assets using McLaughlin s water metaphor savings and short term cash investments,
A/R, and (in the case of for profit industry) inventories for sale, the companies working capital could
be substantially increased providing more cash reserves.
While it appears that the example organization has sufficient assets that could be easily converted into
cash, given the financial information provided, their cash position seems to be delicate , ... Show more

Fortunately, there is an abundance of information available for nonprofit organizations regarding
financial risk assessments. Our example company would certainly benefit with a much larger cash
reserve, but it would also help to have, as mentioned, an understanding of cash flow needs well
described within a definitive budget. Having an understanding of approximate times required to
acquire cash from various assets would be helpful as well. External evaluation tools such as provided
by companies like Grant Thornton could be used to improve risk assessments, or perhaps just getting a
second (or third) opinion from an accounting agency to cover items possibly overlooked by internal
analysis. Klein (2013), writing for Grant Thornton, outlines their reserves planning packet: 1. Develop
a baseline long term financial forecast. 2. Perform a detailed analysis of potential risks. 3. Quantify
your average annual risk exposure. 4. Establish your target reserves level and funding approach (text).
These types of outlines could help establish a basis for understanding what any agencies financial
reserves should

Letter To Sullivan Ballou
In the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou s letter to his wife, he talks about the seriousness of the
situation and how determined he is to follow through on the task he has set for himself. In the letter,
Sullivan Ballou writes, Lest I should not be able to write again...and it may be of some conflict and
death to me (paragraph 1). This quote shows the seriousness and the severity of the situation, and that
it could be a life threatening situation. However, Sullivan Ballou still does what it takes to complete
his job and is determined to follow through. In paragraph 3 Sullivan Ballou writes, And I am willing
perfectly willing to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that
debt. This shows that Sullivan Ballou is determined to do whatever it takes to help maintain the
government even though it can cost him his life and all of the joys of his life. After the first two
paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou s letter, he transitions to the third paragraph where he changes the
subject to his feelings for his wife Sarah. Sullivan Ballou starts paragraph 4 by writing her name at the
beginning of the sentence to signify that he has stopped talking about the war and has now moved on
to express his feeling and love to Sarah.

Ambiguistic Role Of Semantics
MODE OF INDISTINCTNESS IN SEMANTICS Abstract Language is a mode of communication
which helps us to converse with each other. Linguistics is the base to scientifically learn the language.
Grammar also has main role in learning a language. Semantics is one of the types of Linguistics that
deals with the study of words and its meaning. By using a word having same structure it causes
Ambiguity (indistinctness) in some place. If a word gives more than one meaning it is called
Ambiguous. This manuscript deals with the types of Ambiguities in Semantics.

M.Breal is credited with coining the word semantics in his Essai de Semantique (1897) as a name for
Philosophical enquires . In 1894, the English word semantics occurred in a paper presented to the
American Philosophical Association: Reflected Meaning: a point in Semantics . In 1996 A.J.Greimas
produced Structural Semantics which viewed semantics as an exploration of signification anchored in
the world, perceived through senses. Halliday nevertheless feels that A Language is a system for
making meanings, a semantic system, with other systems for encoding the meanings it produces. The
term semantics doesn t merely refer to the gist of words; it is the intact practice of meaning of a
language, uttered by Grammar as well as by Vocabulary. Semantics as a branch of Linguistics is
mainly concerned with how the meaning is conveyed by the Linguistic system consisting of different
units and structure like Sentences, Phrases, Words, and Morphemes etc. Philosopher study Semantics
to understand good evil right wrong etc. In term the approach of the Philosophers is also made use of
by Linguistics. Anthropologists study semantics to understand the cultural and behavioral patterns
reflected in Language. The Psychologists look at semantics from the point of view stimulus and
response, signs and signified

Symbolism In The White Heron
The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather
than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a
scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White
Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of
the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male
dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be
represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one
climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron
flew (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is
climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on
this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest
begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of
the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to
tell the boy of the path to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s
grandmother are both waiting for her. He can make them rich with money;

The Story Of Jack London
Jack London is considered one of Americans best writers in time. London is considered a naturalist,
which is one of the movements during the time of 1865 1915. A naturalist is where a writer portrays
the characters as victims of the environment. One famous short story that Jack London wrote is To
Build a Fire . This short story shows the main conflict of nature versus man. It is set in the Yukon Trail
during the winter time. London took part in the Klondike Gold Rush which gave him the inspiration to
write To Build a Fire . The one major character that the story focuses on is the unnamed man. The
unnamed man is a protagonist in the story. The man s character is revealed through his looks,
thoughts, and actions. The unnamed man s looks give readers a sense of who the character is. The man
is traveling through the Yukon Trial to a campsite in Henderson Creek. It is the season of winter and
the way he dresses puts an impact on how well prepared he is for this journey. Winter in the Alaska is
quite different then a winter in the south. The temperature that the man is traveling in is negative
seventy five degrees Fahrenheit. In To Build a Fire , London states Fifty degrees below zero stood for
a bite of frost that hurt and that must be guarded against by the use of mittens, ear flaps, warm
moccasins, and thick socks (1813). The man knowing of the basic clothing to have during this journey
shows that he knows what type of weather he is about to embark in. However, while

Inside houses a cosy kitchen, a scratched wooden table, paisley patterned lounge chairs and Donny
Rays bed, the centre of a simulated hospital room, with the few medical devices the Blacks could

Another setting quite effectively featured is St. Peter s hospital, housing battered Riker. Entering the
dim and gloomy cafeteria, contrasting the brightly lit, disinfected, starched white walls of the hospital
rooms and hallways, gives the viewer a peek inside Riker s world of pain, confusion and poorly
administered bandages.
The courtroom, where most of the action takes place, is the epitome of law and order. The squeaky
clean marble floors and polished wooden beams display the tradition of the courtroom and the
importance of all which takes place in this setting. Other settings also lend credit to the film, the
tackiness of Bruiser Stone s office, the peace and beauty represented at the jewellry store where Riker
is employed amidst visits to the hospital, and the dark and secretive cinema, where Baylor and Riker
share a tender moment. All settings are effectively and appropriately chosen and are very apt in
relevance to the storyline of the film.
The storyline is one of the most crucial parts of a successful film, though the actors who portray their
characters realistically are the absolute essence of the production. The Rainmaker sports a

Optimal Communication Of Real Time Data On Secure Cdma Ip...
OPTIMAL COMMUNICATION OF REAL TIME DATA ON SECURE CDMA IP RAN NETWORK
Abstract: This paper presents an optimal and secure communication of real time data over a CDMA
based IP RAN network. In the process of data transmission, a new coding approach for security
enhancement and quality improvement based on spectrum utilization and antenna coding is suggested.
The traffic model is developed for image and audio data transmission over a wireless channel, having
an interference of AWGN noise with fading effects. An optimal spectrum sensing approach for proper
resource allocation is developed, and communicated using the secure WeP protocol. The developed
approach is evaluated for different communication parameters and compared in comparisons to
conventional modeling of CDMA system. The obtained results illustrates an improvement in quality
metrics for the developed system, in comparison to the conventional modeling.
Key Word: Optimal Communication, Image and audio data, secure coding, CDMA system, channel
coding.
I. Introduction
It has become a primal requirement in current communication system to provide high rate services
with higher accuracy and faster data exchange. With the evolution of new communication
architectures, the data exchange has got no boundness in forwarding the data to any range. Due to
integration of different networks, data are exchange over wireless network and internet network,
forming a Internet protocol Radio access Network (IP RAN). Due to

The Neural Epidural Junction Is Where The Psychological,...
The neural epidural junction is where the psychological, physiological and somatic systems intersect.
These systems all give access to my personal identity. In addition, the three systems redirect thoughts
and feelings on how I associate with systems and through the colors, the subconscious and a
compassionate self is revealed by the following. I created a grouping of three large and small
figureheads, and an umbrella like sky (the visor). These figureheads enable viewers to sieve their
thoughts and feelings as I do. Specifically, sharing the mental anxiety through shock encounters
(concrete figurehead); memories of the Holocaust and traumatic circumstances. Also, the
physiological response captured in an array of colors (glass figurehead) which, convey emotional
responses. In addition, even though, I am a down to earth person, the third figurehead communicates
that I also crumble like the soil (clay figurehead). The smaller figures mounted on the visor above the
clay figurehead intends to give a whimsical, floating feeling to emphasize the warmth related to the
feelings of compassion I hold. It is also through the colors in all the figureheads, the visor and the
illumination with LED lights, and crackling effect that I project whom I am. Further, by having a visor
emulate a stained glass, I created an illusion that viewers can embrace seeing society as tainted, as I
do. The three figureheads work like fitting a puzzle together and addressing caring. The concrete head

GPS 2. Cell identity 1. Global Positioning system (GPS): To locate the mobile telephone by itself, the
mobile telephone is provided with a GPS receiver. To calculate its location in latitude and longitude
coordinates based on the location information received from a satellite through the GPS receiver. How
Does GPS work in cell phones? The receiver calculates the distance b/w one satellite and the receiver.
To find the distance and locations of the satellite and receiver, the parameter time is computed (t=time
taken by the signal to reach from satellite to the GPS receiver). The time is multiplied by the speed of
light to get distance b/w the satellite and receiver. Disadvantage of GPS based positioning: Increases
the price and the size of the mobile telephone. The load on the mobile telephone is increased.
Power consumption is high. 2. Cell identity Most simplistic and cost effective way to provide position
information. Simply determines which network the device is using. Cell of wireless Since BS for each

The Radiation And Its Health Effects
After reviewing the Radiation and Its Health Effects section, review the health effects and expected
life lost graph. How many days or years does an average person lose due to radiation exposure versus
cigarette smoking? Were you surprised by the number of days or years lost to radiation versus
cigarette smoking? Why or why not? From the table, the life expectancy lost annually due to a typical
background radiation of 360 millirems is 18 days compared to 6 days for smoking a pack of cigarette
a day. I would have to say, the numbers are not surprising to me at all. I believe radiations from
nuclear materials are very potent facilitators of carcinogenesis and DNA damages in humans. Hence,
it is not surprising that radiation shortens the life expectancy humans than cigarette smoking.
However, the compounded effect of both annual background radiation from natural sources and
cigarettes, in addition to the carcinogenic effect of smoking would give a person that smokes a life
expectancy loss of over 24 days per year ( Radiation and its health, 2014). Summarize the section
How the NRC Protects You section. Be sure to describe what the NRC is doing to help reduce our
exposure to radiation. As more information becomes available to the public about the detrimental
effect of excessive radiation on human health, the United States government has entrusted the NRC

The Six Major Barriers In Business Communication
Six Major Barriers in Communication In Chapter 2 of our textbook, Business Communication For
Success by McLean (2010), six major barriers to effective business communications exist. These are
cliché, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. Each of these barriers
can harm relationships, cause misunderstandings, delay work, and cause unnecessary drama in the
work place and in everyday life (Washburn, 2008). This is why discussing them and learning from
previous mistakes will help you identify when you are using them and hopefully help prevent their use
in the future. These major barriers can be very detrimental when used during communication.
The Six Barriers The six major barriers to effective business communication lead to misunderstanding
and often times conflict. Being able to identify them allows you to combat the misunderstanding by
seeking to overcome the barrier. This could also prevent conflicts from arising and keeping
communication lines open and trustworthy by avoiding the use of the six obstacles (McLean, 2010).
To avoid these obstacles, it helps to know what each one means and having examples to reference. I
hope these examples can be used to learn from and not be held against my character as I regret my
part in using these barriers in the past.

Theme Of Silence
The book Silence, by Shusako Endo follows a theme of a silent God who accompanies a believer in
adversity. The main character of the book is Sebastian Rodrigues. It tells of Sebastian Rodrigues
arduous journey halfway around the world to Japan in the 1630s, in order to track down a rumor that
his mentor Father Ferreira had abandoned his faith, at a time where the Japanese leaders were
extremely hostile to foreigners and Christianity and also suspicious of their intentions. He travels with
two other missionaries but one of them falls sick whilst travelling and is deemed unfit to carry on to
accompany him. The book is not fast paced, but immensely character driven. For example, we see the
growth of Sebastian Rodrigues as a priest. At one point he labels Kichijiro a coward. Was it possible
that he was of our faith this wretch. Here we see him being judgmental. However, later in the novel we

This can be echoed through what Kichijiro says If I was born in another time, I would have been a

view Christianity as an evil religion , Inoue says. Furthermore, when Rodrigues encounters Ferreira he
echoes the thoughts of Inoue, he says I have labored in this mission for twenty years ... our religion
does not take root in this country , Kichijiro also refers to himself as a weak shoot that will never grow
no matter what you do . His resolve begins to fade due to the treatment he receives whilst in captivity,

Hunting Essay
Sport hunting is a violent form of recreation that has left countless animals maimed, and orphaned
animals vulnerable to starvation, exposure, and predation. This activity disrupts natural animal
population dynamics and has contributed to the extinction of animal species all over the world,
including the Tasmanian tiger and the great auk.(1,2)
Although less than 5 percent of the U.S. population hunts, hunting is permitted in many wildlife
refuges, national forests, and state parks and on other public lands3 where almost half of all hunters
slaughter and maim millions of animals every year (by some estimates, poachers kill just as many
animals illegally).(4,5) The vast majority of hunters do not kill for subsistence.(6)

Grizzlies and black bears have been moved hundreds of miles away from their homes. Two were shot
by hunters within two weeks of their relocation, and others have simply returned to their homes.(17)
Wolves have been slaughtered in order to let the moose population rebound and provide a higher
harvest for local hunters. (18) In the early 1990s, a program designed to reduce the wolf population
backfired when snares failed to kill victims quickly, and photos of suffering wolves were viewed by an

Nature Takes Care of Its Own
The delicate balance of ecosystems ensures their own survival if they are left unaltered. Natural
predators help maintain this balance by killing the sickest and weakest individuals. Hunters, however,
kill any animal whose head they would like to hang over the fireplace including large, healthy animals
who are needed to keep the population strong. Elephant poaching is believed to have increased the
number of tuskless animals in Africa, and in Canada, hunting has caused bighorn sheep s horn size to
fall by 25 percent in the last 40 years Nature magazine reports that the effect on the populations
genetics is probably deeper. (20)
Even when unusual natural occurrences cause overpopulation, natural processes work to stabilize the
group. Starvation and disease

Comparison Of Nihilism In The West And Persia
On the other hand, the comparison between the nihilism in the West and its counterpart in Persia
shows us both of them were a reaction toward the situation of the time. In the West, nihilism was a
reaction that was created in response of great changes both in ideologies and in industraliaism. Indeed,
ideologies such as capitalism and individualism reinforced the creation and the spread of nihilism.
However, in Persia, nihilism was an imported ideology and a reaction that was created as a result of
the foreigner s invasions. While it was usually suppressed through using appropriate literature and
social movements such as Tasawwuf (the Sufism), in recent years, it found its way in the Persian
society and showed itself in the contemporary literary

Sir Isaac Newton Essay example
Why do things fall when we drop them? How come we do not float as we would on the moon? Where
do the colors of a rainbow come from? How long would it take to drive across Colorado if you are
constantly changing speeds? All of these questions can now be answered, largely impart because of
the great English philosopher, Sir Isaac Newton. In a time where religion was at war with science,
Isaac Newton opened up people s minds to theories and reason. Isaac Newton was to be the starburst
of the Enlightenment. He became the foundation of enlightened thought. It was the 17th century, the
time of the Scientific Revolution. Many brilliant men contributed to this time, but it was Newton who
solidified their thoughts and theories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down?
Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his
knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He
did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it.
Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He
had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able
to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52
decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other
things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac
Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665,
Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment,
Newton bought a prism. He then closed all the curtains so that he was in a darkened room. After the
room was dark, he proceeded to let a small stream of light pass through his window shuts and he
noticed that the prism broke up the white light

Paleolithic Era
In the Paleolithic Era, humans relied on hunting and gathering to live, living off the resources the
environment provided and moving on when resources became scarce. This nomadic lifestyle allowed
them to eat a variety of plans and animals, including birds, mammoths, bison, deer, rodents, roots, and
berries. Because plants grew, fruited, and matured at different times of the year, gathering remained a
fairly constant means to provide food throughout the year. Although small animals and young, ill,
wounded, or old animals were easier to hunt successfully, hominids quickly mastered the techniques
to hunt large mammals, such as bison, rhinoceros, horses, woolly mammoths, and mastodons, to feed
more people. To do so, these hunters had to have high levels of cooperation, intelligence,
communication, and abstract reasoning, utilizing disguises, ambushes, camouflage, and traps. At first,
hominids lived in natural shelters such as caves and canyons, then in tents and simple huts after
discovering fire, developing the necessary tools and technologies to do so. Their nomadic lifestyle
discouraged them from building permanent homes, but rather required them to have tents and huts that
could be quickly erected and broken down. By the end of the ... Show more content on

creatures, early humans began organizing themselves into social groups early on. Small family units

The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement
Purpose
This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an
advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional
advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product
Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective.
Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand
appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results
towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how
prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is
related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude
towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012).
Methodology
The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement
characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a
thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of
prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and
attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand
recognition in brand attitude

Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by...
Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie A warrior is recognized
as sonmeone who battles for his/her beliefs. Even after receiving mortal wounds many times, such a
person never leaves the battlefield. However, the inspiring and metaphorical idea of a warrior can
certainly extend beyond the actual battlefield, and into the universal battle of living life. A woman
must face this world like a warrior. She must endure the pain of a past that oppressed her, the adversity
of a present that is only beginning to understand her, and a future that will continuously test her. From
the beginning of time, Native American women have been a driving force in their cultures, retaining

married to him anymore and his wreck didn t change her mind about that, she still came to see him
every day. She sang Indian tunes under her breath?he tapped his fingers in rhythm. ; (p. 33) Victor s
mother faces depression and alcohol addiction herself, yet even in the midst of these faults, like many
other women on the reservation, she painstakingly maintains the strength to try keeping her family
together or at least show them her love. Like the mother in another one of Alexie s stories who sings to
her child; I m singing an its a good day song. She smiles and I have to smile with her. ;(p. 144) This
small act of making a child smile can be seen as part of the fight because it serves as an example to
their families to continue in the battle of depression in the name of love, fighting off the surrender to
desensitized detachment from the family. Even if the example isn t always followed, as in the case of
Victor s fleeing father, it is certainly a noble endeavor. A warrior who fights bravely and loses a battle
can still be a hero, as we have seen in the women s efforts to hold their families together. Alexie s
women characters also extend their steadfast compassion towards their wounded community. Like the

Julius Caesar Essay
Caius Julius Caesar remains one of the most famous Romans to have ever lived. As well as being a
brilliant politician and a military genius, Caesar also had his way with women. He had a few affairs
with some very beautiful and interesting women, with whom he used for political gains as well as
being lovers with. With his charismatic leadership and ambition, Caesar s rise to power came rather
quickly, and he ultimately became the dictator of the Roman Empire. Caesar is a very interesting man
to study about and his accomplishments are still referenced till this day. He caught the attention of
Shakespeare and Shaw, their plays may be exaggerated for a more dramatic effect from the events that
probably occurred, but regardless, most people have heard of Julius Caesar and know he was a man of
great accomplishments. Julius Caesar was born into a patrician family in a republic, on Quincitilis,
which would later be replaced by Julius in the Julian calendar in honor of Caesar during his reign.
Eventually evolving into what we now know as July. Despite his great reputation, everything did not
exactly go as he planned. Nearly twenty years old he narrowly 333avoided being executed for
opposing the military dictator Sulla, for not divorcing his first wife Cornelia, due to them being in
rival families to the throne.1 He was also captured and held for ransom by pirates, in which he
mocked the pirates saying I am going to come back and execute you all , the pirates all laughed, so did

Frank Bouurassa Research Paper
Frank Bourassa ( Frank ) is an easygoing man of forty four. As a young man, in his twenties, without
support from his family, he opened a small factory that specialized in the making of brake pads and
shoes. He worked tirelessly twenty hours a day without sleep, which eventually affected his health
drastically. Frank was diagnosed with an acute stress disorder and was placed on anti anxiety pills.
Despite all the odds, Frank made his factory a success, although he had to sell it to maintain his health.
Frank had a rough childhood, as a child. At age 15, he quit school and left his home. He took up a
legal work as a mechanic to sustain himself. However, without much of a family presence in his life,
he had a few skirmishes with the law and had to serve a jailtime. Out of boredom, frank started
visiting different websites, including government websites, secret service in particular. Sadly, on this
agency s website, an agency created to fight and control fraud and crime, frank easily and readily
gathered in depth guide on how to print counterfeit money. On this website, there were guides to serial
numbers, watermarks, plate numbers, and all the fussy obstacles to the counterfeit art. It was the
knowledge from this source that gave birth to Frank s sad path to counterfeiting.

I asked Hilgenbrink, What types of feedback and information do you have to give to the community or
police headquarters? He said First off we have to write citations to enforce the law and then we have
to talk to our supervisor about any laws that could be removed. Citations involve a lot of paperwork
and this is one my least favorite things to do. They have to give parking, speeding, and all other type
of fines to bring revenue into the city and to enforce the law. These citations consist of two pages of
content pertaining to the law that an individual has broken. If the community has a problem with a law
they can discuss it with the city council or it can be discussed at town hall meetings.
Genres are types of texts that are recognizable to the reader and writers, and meet the needs of the
rhetorical situation in which they function. (Swales 467) I asked Hilgenbrink, What texts or books do
police officers use every day? He said I think the text or book that we use every day is the laws that
we enforce. This is pretty simple because the laws are stated in the state s constitution which the
police officers inforce. Genre is crucial to the development of a discourse

As we all know, the Second World War left a huge impact on the world, and populations that suffered
in the past are still healing from all the wounds caused by this destructive war. That is why the

consequences of the war.
The war against Japan provided the Allies with completely new problems as they faced up to an
enemy with completely different tactics. Japan s imperial ambitions had been evident from as early as
1931. Japan became seen as a serious threat to the economic interests and influence of the US and
European powers in Asia. By July 1937, Japan was engaged in all out war with China and turned to

On the 8th of December 1941, the United States congress declared war on the empire of japan in
response to that country s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor the prior day. It was formulated an hour after
the infamy speech of US President Roosevelt. Following the declaration, Japan s allies, Germany and
Italy, declared war on the United States, bringing the United States fully into World War II. When the
Allied forces finally got to the point where an invasion on the Japanese mainland was inevitable, it
was decided to use the Atomic weapons due to the fact that Japanese leaders had convinced their
people to fight the death against the foreign invaders . Faced with the prospect of an invasion that
could easily cost millions of lives on both sides, the US decided to drop the big ones and hopefully
end the war with relatively few lives lost. They chose to target Hiroshima and Nagasaki because of
their strategic importance to the empire. Both were military ports used to supply the armed forces of
Japan and were filled with military supplies. So the bombs were dropped to end the war, not in

Patricia Is Researching Venues For A Restaurant Business
Patricia is researching venues for a restaurant business. She is evaluating three major attributes that
she considers important in her choice: taste, location, and price. The value she places on each attribute,
however, differs according to what type of restaurant she is going to start. If she opens a restaurant in a
suburban area of Los Angeles, then taste is the most important attribute, three times as important as
location, and two times as important as price. If she opens a restaurant in the Los Angeles
metropolitan area, then location becomes three times as important as taste and two times as important
as price. She is considering two venues, respectively, a steak restaurant and a pizza restaurant, both of
which are priced the same. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

can be reliably estimated as 0.7 and in a metropolitan area as 0.3? Describe your reasoning and show

restaurant utility=0.3*0.0467=0.01401 Starting a pizza restaurant in the suburban area is more
favorable. This is because it has the highest utility compared to all the other options. 4. Provide a
description of a scenario in which this kind of decision between two choices, based on weighing their
underlying attributes, applies in the real world business setting. Furthermore, what are the benefits and
drawbacks, if any, to this method of decision making? Such a scenario may happen when one wants to
start a retail business but where the market is high; the business is likely to be affected by adverse
weather conditions whereas the best place to locate the business has least market though the price of
the commodity in question is constant. The benefit of this may be choosing a way of attracting more

discounts may not automatically attract customers hence leading to a loss. Problem 2: The demand

Nanoscience is the branch of science which studies the phenomena on materials at atomic, molecular
and macromolecular scales, where the properties can differ very much from that of bulk materials.
Nanoparticles are like a bridge between bulk materials and atomic or molecular structures. Despite of
its size, the bulk materials possess constant physical properties. But at nano scale size dependent
properties are generally observed. Hence in general the properties of materials change as their size
approaches the nanoscale which are far different from those of their bulk counterparts.

America was first introduced to the first SWAT teams in the year of 1966. SWAT, which first stood for
Special Weapons Attack Team, and then was later changed to Special Weapons and Tactics, was
founded by Daryl Gates who was a police commander for the Los Angeles Police Department. SWAT
teams are different from regular law enforcement in the fact that they are far more advanced and
handle far more advanced and dangerous situations. They use more powerful weapons and more
experienced policing tactics. They could be considered the elite members of law enforcement. SWAT
teams do not just deal with the normal criminal. They handle the extreme criminals who often defy
law enforcement. SWAT teams were founded in an effort the lower the massively high crime rate that

Isis Existence Of The Middle East

Prof. Kuroki
June 17 2015
ISIS existence in the Middle East ISIS is a Salafi group that follows an extreme interpretation of Islam
and promotes religious violence. ISIS has been on a running climb to power and control in the Middle
East. The rise of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the Islamist militant group that has took over
huge parts of land stretching from northern Syria to central Iraq, and it has struck fear into the hearts
of leaders around the world. The main reason ISIS is so terrifying and trending the world right now is
because that the group ISIS aims to bring back the early days of Islam, rejecting all other religions.
They also seek to bring back the original Wahhabi project of the restoration of the caliphate governed
by strict Salafist doctrine. ISIS have done outrageous things that walks over all human rights and they
are an extremely dangerous threat on democracy all over the world. If ISIS have their way, people
have a choice of either joining them or suffer extreme consequences.
The reason why ISIS is so dangerous to democracy because of its geographic location. ISIS s main
base is located in Baghdad which is the capital of Iraq. Since they have established their location, they
have been on a mission to take over as much as land as possible and they have chose to go North
West. Now assuming that they do get their way, not only Turkey would be under the control of ISIS,

In this time Cooper was never thanked for her effort to maintain ethical business practices and to
report inappropriate actions. Cooper has since moved on and left the company. WorldCom acquired
Arthur Andersen as the independent external auditing for the company. As WorldCom grew after the
merger with MCI, Andersen began to invoice less than they should have. The charges were defended
as an opportunity to prolong business with WorldCom. (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007). This is an
immediate red flag for a company. Where were the ethical practices of the independent auditor? If the

The Global Economy Has Become Large Size, Breadth And...
The global economy has become massive in size, breadth and diversity. There are enormous
opportunities but they are also fraught with complexity. The interconnectedness between fast growing
and mature regions has vastly increased the complexity, number and range of stakeholder relationships
that must be managed. Business complexity is increasing every day. Although initiating a business is
easier than a decade ago, sustaining and growing a business is more difficult than ever. When you
consider the last decades leading organizations, some of them have already vanished or lost market
share despite their large size. Some of today s leading organizations may not exist in the next decade
due to challenges in managing complexity.
One of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you reduce complexity, you increase your ability to implement new solutions, says André
Mendes, CIO of the Special Olympics. Complexity leads to brittleness and high costs, notes Frank
Modruson, CIO of Accenture. But if you get your technology cleaner, you can serve the business more
easily. Today, all CIOs are standing in the path of a fire hose spewing complexity. And many are
getting soaked.
Within IT, factors that increase complexity include outsourcing management, the adoption of Web and
consumer technologies, and support for mobile workforces, developing and managing technology
architectures and governance for those workforces, and ensuring security in a distributed environment.
Outside of IT s direct control, complexity is increased by the requirements of compliance, the need to
support global business, and the speed and depth of access to information demanded by your
customers and your partners. Companies can with difficulty handle these challenges individually, one
at a time. But in the real world companies face many, if not all, of these challenges, all at once, over
and over. That s why you need a strategy to keep complexity out of the environment. The challenge of
complexity is exacerbated by the fact that many

Analysis Of Grey s Anatomy And Anatomy
Over the course of years Medical TV shows give excitement to viewers. Recently, Grey s Anatomy
has grown to be a very popular show, but has been numerously compared to Scrubs. When more
attention is called to this, similarities are present. For example, the storytelling of each show, the
platforms, and the classification of characters. There are even claims that lead to believe Grey s
Anatomy copied Scrubs.
In Grey s Anatomy, it starts off with Meredith Gray being the main character and narrating throughout
most of the episodes. She is an intern at a new hospital along with 4 others who will be alongside of
her. On the first day of being an intern doctor they are assigned to a resident in which that resident is

When looking at the platforms of the shows, it is noticeable that in Grey s Anatomy the main character
is a woman who narrates the show and is best friends with another intern woman. On Scrubs J.D. also
known as John Dorian is the narrator, but he is a man and is best friends with a male intern. The
interns in Grey s Anatomy are more competitive and confident in performing daily procedures, but in
Scrubs the interns try to be competitive and are not very confident in hard situations. Another
difference is that In Grey s Anatomy the scenes are centered around drama and romance that there is
going on around the hospital, with some humor and on Scrubs it is more about jokes and sometimes
drama. And of course, the nurses are viewed differently in both shows, In Grey s Anatomy the nurses
are not treated well and are ranked lower than the doctors. In Scrubs the nurses are a big help and
include funny aspects of them being better than the intern doctors. It is obvious that there are no two
shows that are exactly the same, but these are some aspects that make them somewhat different but
parallel.
Getting an overview of the 2 shows can be wide opening for there are characters in Grey s Anatomy
that resemble some from Scrubs. When classifying the characters in both shows, many similarities are
present.
Taking a closer look at Dr. Cox from Scrubs and Dr. Karev from Grey s Anatomy it is noticeable that
in the hospital both characters seem to

Value Chain Analysis And Analysis Essay
Value Chain Analysis
Another point of view is to take a look at the value chain analysis which helps to identify the most
valuable activities of a firm. Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, Bamford (2014). In the case of Electrolux, it
would appear that they provide considerable value to the appliance market however; the struggle (as
previously mentioned) has been breaking into emerging markets in this case, China. With considerable
middle class growth in China, the standard of living is rising exponentially; therefore, a large number
of new households will be able to invest in appliances and other household products. The second point
in the value chain analysis begs the question of rarity or more succinctly, can resources be acquired by
one or limited organizations. Resources which are rare and valuable can provide a temporary
competitive advantage. Conversely, when more than a few companies posses the same resource or
utilize the same capability, this can lead to competitive parity. Wheelen et al (2014) Therefore, one
must ask several questions in order to find rare resources. For example; how many companies own a
resource or can perform capability in the same way as Electrolux? And, can a resource be easily
bought in the market by rival companies? In the case of Electrolux the rareness component is
nonexistent because other companies e.g., LG Electronics, Whirlpool and Haier already have a
stronghold in the global market with similar products. Furthermore, China has been known to

How Mechanical And Or Organic Solidarity As Discussed By...
The aim of this piece will be to discuss how mechanical and or organic solidarity as discussed by
Durkheim are relevant in today s society. Discussion shall surround the emergence of organic
solidarity the division of society, and the emergence of apparent equality and diversity in Western
society. In order to provide such an analysis this piece will draw upon academic journals, and theories
to substantiate the analysis, using works from Durkheim (1984), Marx (1984, 2008), although this list
is not exhaustive. Durkheim s work on the Division of Labour, according to Merton (1994) embodies
many of its characteristic features , referring to the work of Comte during the Enlightenment period.
Durkheim believed essentially according to Merton (1994) that morality should be questioned in order
that questions surrounding social integration should be answered. It was the view of Durkheim (2008)
that mechanical solidarity was based on agreed norms and beliefs located within society. Later history
saw the emergence of organic solidarity as addressed by Durkheim, emerging from the existence of
socialisation of individuals and differentiation. Durkheim (2008) believed that Mechanical and
Organic solidarity in their basic forms related to the transition from more traditional elements of
society as in Clans, tribes, and smaller underdeveloped communities towards a more complex society
based on the emergence of industrialisation. This ideology forms a description of the move

  • 2. Personal Finance Case McLaughlin (2009) states that the example organizations balance sheet (p. 125) does not show adequate cash assets (line 45), given a supposed annual budget of $3.5 million dollars, to provide adequate daily cash flow needs (p. 124). With year end cash assets of only $16,190, working down the list of liquidable assets using McLaughlin s water metaphor savings and short term cash investments, A/R, and (in the case of for profit industry) inventories for sale, the companies working capital could be substantially increased providing more cash reserves. While it appears that the example organization has sufficient assets that could be easily converted into cash, given the financial information provided, their cash position seems to be delicate , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, there is an abundance of information available for nonprofit organizations regarding financial risk assessments. Our example company would certainly benefit with a much larger cash reserve, but it would also help to have, as mentioned, an understanding of cash flow needs well described within a definitive budget. Having an understanding of approximate times required to acquire cash from various assets would be helpful as well. External evaluation tools such as provided by companies like Grant Thornton could be used to improve risk assessments, or perhaps just getting a second (or third) opinion from an accounting agency to cover items possibly overlooked by internal analysis. Klein (2013), writing for Grant Thornton, outlines their reserves planning packet: 1. Develop a baseline long term financial forecast. 2. Perform a detailed analysis of potential risks. 3. Quantify your average annual risk exposure. 4. Establish your target reserves level and funding approach (text). These types of outlines could help establish a basis for understanding what any agencies financial reserves should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Letter To Sullivan Ballou In the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou s letter to his wife, he talks about the seriousness of the situation and how determined he is to follow through on the task he has set for himself. In the letter, Sullivan Ballou writes, Lest I should not be able to write again...and it may be of some conflict and death to me (paragraph 1). This quote shows the seriousness and the severity of the situation, and that it could be a life threatening situation. However, Sullivan Ballou still does what it takes to complete his job and is determined to follow through. In paragraph 3 Sullivan Ballou writes, And I am willing perfectly willing to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt. This shows that Sullivan Ballou is determined to do whatever it takes to help maintain the government even though it can cost him his life and all of the joys of his life. After the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou s letter, he transitions to the third paragraph where he changes the subject to his feelings for his wife Sarah. Sullivan Ballou starts paragraph 4 by writing her name at the beginning of the sentence to signify that he has stopped talking about the war and has now moved on to express his feeling and love to Sarah. ... Linguistics is the base to scientifically learn the language. Grammar also has main role in learning a language. Semantics is one of the types of Linguistics that deals with the study of words and its meaning. By using a word having same structure it causes Ambiguity (indistinctness) in some place. If a word gives more than one meaning it is called Ambiguous. This manuscript deals with the types of Ambiguities in Semantics. M.Breal is credited with coining the word semantics in his Essai de Semantique (1897) as a name for Philosophical enquires . In 1894, the English word semantics occurred in a paper presented to the American Philosophical Association: Reflected Meaning: a point in Semantics . In 1996 A.J.Greimas produced Structural Semantics which viewed semantics as an exploration of signification anchored in the world, perceived through senses. Halliday nevertheless feels that A Language is a system for making meanings, a semantic system, with other systems for encoding the meanings it produces. The term semantics doesn t merely refer to the gist of words; it is the intact practice of meaning of a language, uttered by Grammar as well as by Vocabulary. Semantics as a branch of Linguistics is mainly concerned with how the meaning is conveyed by the Linguistic system consisting of different units and structure like Sentences, Phrases, Words, and Morphemes etc. Philosopher study Semantics to understand good evil right wrong etc. In term the approach of the Philosophers is also made use of by Linguistics. • 5. Symbolism In The White Heron The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron flew (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to tell the boy of the path to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s grandmother are both waiting for her. He can make them rich with money; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Story Of Jack London Jack London is considered one of Americans best writers in time. London is considered a naturalist, which is one of the movements during the time of 1865 1915. A naturalist is where a writer portrays the characters as victims of the environment. One famous short story that Jack London wrote is To Build a Fire . This short story shows the main conflict of nature versus man. It is set in the Yukon Trail during the winter time. London took part in the Klondike Gold Rush which gave him the inspiration to write To Build a Fire . The one major character that the story focuses on is the unnamed man. The unnamed man is a protagonist in the story. The man s character is revealed through his looks, thoughts, and actions. The unnamed man s looks give readers a sense of who the character is. The man is traveling through the Yukon Trial to a campsite in Henderson Creek. It is the season of winter and the way he dresses puts an impact on how well prepared he is for this journey. Winter in the Alaska is quite different then a winter in the south. The temperature that the man is traveling in is negative seventy five degrees Fahrenheit. In To Build a Fire , London states Fifty degrees below zero stood for a bite of frost that hurt and that must be guarded against by the use of mittens, ear flaps, warm moccasins, and thick socks (1813). They were totally unqualified to try the case of a life time, but every underdog has his day . To become a Rainmaker is Rudy Baylor s (Matt Damon) ambition, to try the case of a lifetime and make the big bucks fall from the sky. Inside houses a cosy kitchen, a scratched wooden table, paisley patterned lounge chairs and Donny Rays bed, the centre of a simulated hospital room, with the few medical devices the Blacks could rustle up without the aid of insurance. Another setting quite effectively featured is St. Peter s hospital, housing battered Riker. Entering the dim and gloomy cafeteria, contrasting the brightly lit, disinfected, starched white walls of the hospital rooms and hallways, gives the viewer a peek inside Riker s world of pain, confusion and poorly administered bandages. The courtroom, where most of the action takes place, is the epitome of law and order. The squeaky clean marble floors and polished wooden beams display the tradition of the courtroom and the importance of all which takes place in this setting. OPTIMAL COMMUNICATION OF REAL TIME DATA ON SECURE CDMA IP RAN NETWORK Abstract: This paper presents an optimal and secure communication of real time data over a CDMA based IP RAN network. In the process of data transmission, a new coding approach for security enhancement and quality improvement based on spectrum utilization and antenna coding is suggested. The traffic model is developed for image and audio data transmission over a wireless channel, having an interference of AWGN noise with fading effects. An optimal spectrum sensing approach for proper resource allocation is developed, and communicated using the secure WeP protocol. The developed approach is evaluated for different communication parameters and compared in comparisons to conventional modeling of CDMA system. The obtained results illustrates an improvement in quality metrics for the developed system, in comparison to the conventional modeling. Key Word: Optimal Communication, Image and audio data, secure coding, CDMA system, channel coding. I. Introduction It has become a primal requirement in current communication system to provide high rate services with higher accuracy and faster data exchange. With the evolution of new communication architectures, the data exchange has got no boundness in forwarding the data to any range. Due to integration of different networks, data are exchange over wireless network and internet network, forming a Internet protocol Radio access Network (IP RAN). Due to ... These systems all give access to my personal identity. In addition, the three systems redirect thoughts and feelings on how I associate with systems and through the colors, the subconscious and a compassionate self is revealed by the following. I created a grouping of three large and small figureheads, and an umbrella like sky (the visor). These figureheads enable viewers to sieve their thoughts and feelings as I do. Specifically, sharing the mental anxiety through shock encounters (concrete figurehead); memories of the Holocaust and traumatic circumstances. Also, the physiological response captured in an array of colors (glass figurehead) which, convey emotional responses. In addition, even though, I am a down to earth person, the third figurehead communicates that I also crumble like the soil (clay figurehead). The smaller figures mounted on the visor above the clay figurehead intends to give a whimsical, floating feeling to emphasize the warmth related to the feelings of compassion I hold. It is also through the colors in all the figureheads, the visor and the illumination with LED lights, and crackling effect that I project whom I am. Further, by having a visor emulate a stained glass, I created an illusion that viewers can embrace seeing society as tainted, as I do. The three figureheads work like fitting a puzzle together and addressing caring. The concrete head is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The receiver calculates the distance b/w one satellite and the receiver. To find the distance and locations of the satellite and receiver, the parameter time is computed (t=time taken by the signal to reach from satellite to the GPS receiver). The time is multiplied by the speed of light to get distance b/w the satellite and receiver. Disadvantage of GPS based positioning: Increases the price and the size of the mobile telephone. Why or why not? From the table, the life expectancy lost annually due to a typical background radiation of 360 millirems is 18 days compared to 6 days for smoking a pack of cigarette a day. I would have to say, the numbers are not surprising to me at all. I believe radiations from nuclear materials are very potent facilitators of carcinogenesis and DNA damages in humans. Hence, it is not surprising that radiation shortens the life expectancy humans than cigarette smoking. However, the compounded effect of both annual background radiation from natural sources and cigarettes, in addition to the carcinogenic effect of smoking would give a person that smokes a life expectancy loss of over 24 days per year ( Radiation and its health, 2014). The Six Major Barriers In Business Communication Six Major Barriers in Communication In Chapter 2 of our textbook, Business Communication For Success by McLean (2010), six major barriers to effective business communications exist. These are clichĂ©, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. Each of these barriers can harm relationships, cause misunderstandings, delay work, and cause unnecessary drama in the work place and in everyday life (Washburn, 2008). This is why discussing them and learning from previous mistakes will help you identify when you are using them and hopefully help prevent their use in the future. These major barriers can be very detrimental when used during communication. The Six Barriers The six major barriers to effective business communication lead to misunderstanding and often times conflict. Being able to identify them allows you to combat the misunderstanding by seeking to overcome the barrier. This could also prevent conflicts from arising and keeping communication lines open and trustworthy by avoiding the use of the six obstacles (McLean, 2010). To avoid these obstacles, it helps to know what each one means and having examples to reference. I hope these examples can be used to learn from and not be held against my character as I regret my part in using these barriers in the past. But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down? Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it. Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52 decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665, Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment, Newton bought a prism. This nomadic lifestyle allowed them to eat a variety of plans and animals, including birds, mammoths, bison, deer, rodents, roots, and berries. Because plants grew, fruited, and matured at different times of the year, gathering remained a fairly constant means to provide food throughout the year. Although small animals and young, ill, wounded, or old animals were easier to hunt successfully, hominids quickly mastered the techniques to hunt large mammals, such as bison, rhinoceros, horses, woolly mammoths, and mastodons, to feed more people. To do so, these hunters had to have high levels of cooperation, intelligence, communication, and abstract reasoning, utilizing disguises, ambushes, camouflage, and traps. At first, hominids lived in natural shelters such as caves and canyons, then in tents and simple huts after discovering fire, developing the necessary tools and technologies to do so. • 24. The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement Purpose This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective. Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012). Methodology The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand recognition in brand attitude ... Such a scenario may happen when one wants to start a retail business but where the market is high; the business is likely to be affected by adverse weather conditions whereas the best place to locate the business has least market though the price of the commodity in question is constant. The benefit of this may be choosing a way of attracting more market such as offering discounts at a particular quantity bought. There may be also a drawback as the discounts may not automatically attract customers hence leading to a loss. Problem 2: The demand function for Newton s Donuts has been estimated as ... Examples Of Nanoscience Nanoscience is the branch of science which studies the phenomena on materials at atomic, molecular and macromolecular scales, where the properties can differ very much from that of bulk materials. Nanoparticles are like a bridge between bulk materials and atomic or molecular structures. Despite of its size, the bulk materials possess constant physical properties. But at nano scale size dependent properties are generally observed. Hence in general the properties of materials change as their size approaches the nanoscale which are far different from those of their bulk counterparts. Nanotechnology comprises the technological applications of nanoscience, which includes the synthesis, design, characterization and application of structures, ... Nevertheless, the use of surfactants and sonochemical methods emerge as novel and feasible alternatives to optimize the resulting solid morphological characteristics. The rare earth oxides have been synthesized by a wide variety of methods including microwave assisted, solvothermal, sol gel, hydrothermal, solution combustion, co precipitation etc. [7 12]. Lanthanides The lanthanide (Ln) elements comprise a unique series of metals in the periodic table. These metals are distinctive in terms of size, valence orbitals, electrophilicity and magnetic and electronic properties, such that some members of the series are currently the best metals for certain applications. These are some of the largest non radioactive metals in the periodic table. For reactions in which a large trivalent ion is needed, they may be the best. Rare earth (RE) ions play a vital role in modern industries and optical technologies as the essential constituents in preparing many essential novel materials. The lanthanides include Lanthanum (La), Cerium (Ce), Praseodymium (Pr), Neodymium (Nd), Promethium (Pm), Samarium (Sm), Europium (Eu), Gadolinium (Gd), Terbium (Tb), Dysprosium (Dy), Holmium (Ho), Erbium (Er), Thulium (Tm), Ytterbium (Yb) and Lutetium (Lu). • 32. Swat Team Research Paper America was first introduced to the first SWAT teams in the year of 1966. SWAT, which first stood for Special Weapons Attack Team, and then was later changed to Special Weapons and Tactics, was founded by Daryl Gates who was a police commander for the Los Angeles Police Department. SWAT teams are different from regular law enforcement in the fact that they are far more advanced and handle far more advanced and dangerous situations. They use more powerful weapons and more experienced policing tactics. They could be considered the elite members of law enforcement. SWAT teams do not just deal with the normal criminal. They handle the extreme criminals who often defy law enforcement. SWAT teams were founded in an effort the lower the massively high crime rate that was dominating the late 1990s. These specially trained police officers are an example of the paramilitary policing which also first arose during this time period. Paramilitary policing can be defined just how it sounds. Ultimately, the VCSU stepped in, took control of the situation, and brought the crime and drug rate under control on the streets of south Fresno. The VCSU was important in this case perhaps because they give of a more intimidating vibe; dressed in full armor, camouflage, and carrying large automatic weapons. Isis Existence Of The Middle East Karim Hajjar English 1A Prof. Kuroki June 17 2015 ISIS existence in the Middle East ISIS is a Salafi group that follows an extreme interpretation of Islam and promotes religious violence. ISIS has been on a running climb to power and control in the Middle East. The rise of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the Islamist militant group that has took over huge parts of land stretching from northern Syria to central Iraq, and it has struck fear into the hearts of leaders around the world. The main reason ISIS is so terrifying and trending the world right now is because that the group ISIS aims to bring back the early days of Islam, rejecting all other religions. They also seek to bring back the original Wahhabi project of the restoration of the caliphate governed by strict Salafist doctrine. ISIS have done outrageous things that walks over all human rights and they are an extremely dangerous threat on democracy all over the world. If ISIS have their way, people have a choice of either joining them or suffer extreme consequences. The reason why ISIS is so dangerous to democracy because of its geographic location. ISIS s main base is located in Baghdad which is the capital of Iraq. Since they have established their location, they have been on a mission to take over as much as land as possible and they have chose to go North West. In this time Cooper was never thanked for her effort to maintain ethical business practices and to report inappropriate actions. Cooper has since moved on and left the company. WorldCom acquired Arthur Andersen as the independent external auditing for the company. As WorldCom grew after the merger with MCI, Andersen began to invoice less than they should have. The charges were defended as an opportunity to prolong business with WorldCom. (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007). This is an immediate red flag for a company. Where were the ethical practices of the independent auditor? If the auditor has no ethics, how can one possibly be assured that the company is performing its intended function appropriately? The board of directors should have immediately been informed of Andersen s practices and made a decision to confront Andersen s practices and possibly obtain new independent auditors. The Board of non Directors WorldCom s board of directors was comprised mostly of former owners, officers, or directors of companies acquired by WorldCom (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007 p. 10). The Board and its Committees did not function in a way that made it likely that they would notice red flags. There are enormous opportunities but they are also fraught with complexity. The interconnectedness between fast growing and mature regions has vastly increased the complexity, number and range of stakeholder relationships that must be managed. Business complexity is increasing every day. Although initiating a business is easier than a decade ago, sustaining and growing a business is more difficult than ever. When you consider the last decades leading organizations, some of them have already vanished or lost market share despite their large size. Some of today s leading organizations may not exist in the next decade due to challenges in managing complexity. One of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you reduce complexity, you increase your ability to implement new solutions, says AndrĂ© Mendes, CIO of the Special Olympics. Complexity leads to brittleness and high costs, notes Frank Modruson, CIO of Accenture. But if you get your technology cleaner, you can serve the business more easily. Today, all CIOs are standing in the path of a fire hose spewing complexity. And many are getting soaked. Within IT, factors that increase complexity include outsourcing management, the adoption of Web and consumer technologies, and support for mobile workforces, developing and managing technology architectures and governance for those workforces, and ensuring security in a distributed environment. Outside of IT s direct control, complexity is increased by the requirements of compliance, the need to support global business, and the speed and depth of access to information demanded by your customers and your partners. Companies can with difficulty handle these challenges individually, one at a time. But in the real world companies face many, if not all, of these challenges, all at once, over and over. That s why you need a strategy to keep complexity out of the environment. The challenge of complexity is exacerbated by the fact that many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Analysis Of Grey s Anatomy And Anatomy Over the course of years Medical TV shows give excitement to viewers. Recently, Grey s Anatomy has grown to be a very popular show, but has been numerously compared to Scrubs. When more attention is called to this, similarities are present. For example, the storytelling of each show, the platforms, and the classification of characters. There are even claims that lead to believe Grey s Anatomy copied Scrubs. In Grey s Anatomy, it starts off with Meredith Gray being the main character and narrating throughout most of the episodes. She is an intern at a new hospital along with 4 others who will be alongside of her. On the first day of being an intern doctor they are assigned to a resident in which that resident is in charge of showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When looking at the platforms of the shows, it is noticeable that in Grey s Anatomy the main character is a woman who narrates the show and is best friends with another intern woman. On Scrubs J.D. also known as John Dorian is the narrator, but he is a man and is best friends with a male intern. The interns in Grey s Anatomy are more competitive and confident in performing daily procedures, but in Scrubs the interns try to be competitive and are not very confident in hard situations. Another difference is that In Grey s Anatomy the scenes are centered around drama and romance that there is going on around the hospital, with some humor and on Scrubs it is more about jokes and sometimes drama. And of course, the nurses are viewed differently in both shows, In Grey s Anatomy the nurses are not treated well and are ranked lower than the doctors. In Scrubs the nurses are a big help and include funny aspects of them being better than the intern doctors. It is obvious that there are no two shows that are exactly the same, but these are some aspects that make them somewhat different but parallel. Getting an overview of the 2 shows can be wide opening for there are characters in Grey s Anatomy that resemble some from Scrubs. • 37. Value Chain Analysis And Analysis Essay Value Chain Analysis Another point of view is to take a look at the value chain analysis which helps to identify the most valuable activities of a firm. Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, Bamford (2014). In the case of Electrolux, it would appear that they provide considerable value to the appliance market however; the struggle (as previously mentioned) has been breaking into emerging markets in this case, China. With considerable middle class growth in China, the standard of living is rising exponentially; therefore, a large number of new households will be able to invest in appliances and other household products. The second point in the value chain analysis begs the question of rarity or more succinctly, can resources be acquired by one or limited organizations. Resources which are rare and valuable can provide a temporary competitive advantage. Conversely, when more than a few companies posses the same resource or utilize the same capability, this can lead to competitive parity. Wheelen et al (2014) Therefore, one must ask several questions in order to find rare resources. For example; how many companies own a resource or can perform capability in the same way as Electrolux? And, can a resource be easily bought in the market by rival companies? In the case of Electrolux the rareness component is nonexistent because other companies e.g., LG Electronics, Whirlpool and Haier already have a stronghold in the global market with similar products. Furthermore, China has been known to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. How Mechanical And Or Organic Solidarity As Discussed By... The aim of this piece will be to discuss how mechanical and or organic solidarity as discussed by Durkheim are relevant in today s society. Discussion shall surround the emergence of organic solidarity the division of society, and the emergence of apparent equality and diversity in Western society. In order to provide such an analysis this piece will draw upon academic journals, and theories to substantiate the analysis, using works from Durkheim (1984), Marx (1984, 2008), although this list is not exhaustive. Durkheim s work on the Division of Labour, according to Merton (1994) embodies many of its characteristic features , referring to the work of Comte during the Enlightenment period. Durkheim believed essentially according to Merton (1994) that morality should be questioned in order that questions surrounding social integration should be answered. It was the view of Durkheim (2008) that mechanical solidarity was based on agreed norms and beliefs located within society. Later history saw the emergence of organic solidarity as addressed by Durkheim, emerging from the existence of socialisation of individuals and differentiation. Durkheim (2008) believed that Mechanical and Organic solidarity in their basic forms related to the transition from more traditional elements of society as in Clans, tribes, and smaller underdeveloped communities towards a more complex society based on the emergence of industrialisation. This ideology forms a description of the move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
