India's plastic industry began production of various plastics like polystyrene, LDPE, PVC, and HDPE from the 1950s-1970s. Plastic waste includes items like PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, and PS. Recycling plastic is important because plastic pollution harms sea life, plastic does not degrade, producing new plastic requires fossil fuels, and recycling conserves resources and energy while reducing emissions and landfill space. The plastic recycling process involves sorting, washing, shredding, and reforming plastic into pellets. Recycling plastic
