I remember watching the news on may 19th 2013 and hearing about a young boy who passed
away just kilometers outside my house. At age two Geo was killed outside Rics Grill due to an
alleged drunk driver: Richard Suter. I felt the pain and sorrow for the family members and
remember hoping that Mr. Suter be punished for his actions. However, over time I completely
forgot what ended up happening until today. October 20th 2015, I got off the LRT and didn t
quite know what to expect going to the law courts. I have seen TV shows such as The Good
Wife and Suits and thought that maybe the courthouse would resemble similarities. However as I
walked through the security and made my way up to the courtroom I realized that my experience
was going to be completely different. My aunt who works at the courthouse had informed me
earlier that morning that in courtroom 445 at 10am there was going to be victim impact
statements for the case regarding Mr. Suter actions. As I walked to the courtroom, I started to
remember the news regarding this case and thought about something that we had learned in class,
which was the due process of our judicial system. I had just assumed that this case was closed and
justice has been served, but this was not the case. The courtroom was much smaller than I had

The Titanic was the dream ship, the unsinkable ship. It was supposed to sail from Southampton,
England to New York on April 10, 1912. But the dream ship never made it to New York (Tibballs
25). The disaster of the Titanic was both tragic and adventures. The passengers were both poor
and very wealthy (Staff). The people were seeking adventure in a new country. Some went to

Little Bison Basin Prehistory Prior to the last ice age, the entire region of the Great Plains is
believed to have been an inland sea known as the Western Interior Seaway. As this seaway receded,
large animals including mammoths and saber toothed tigers lived in the area. The majority of these
animals became extinct to the region around 13,000 years ago during one of the ice ages. The great
plainsare a vast region of North America that spreads from Canada nearly down to the Coast of
Texas. This region is comprised of primarily flat grounds with the exceptions of the larger
mountain ranges including the Rockies. Within this region is the Little Bison Basin, a stretch
of the Great Plains where glacial rivers feed into the larger Whiskey River. Nevin Feneman in
his 1916 study defines this region as, The term Great Plains , for the region west of about the
96th or 98th meridian and east of the Rocky Mountains, was not generally used before the early
20th century. As vast as the region is, there are many trends that run throughout not the least of

The writing style of southern gothic uses many different techniques such as macabre, ironic events
that look at the values of the south. Two writers that are famous for the southern gothic style are
William Faulkner and Flannery O Conner. Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily, depicts a well
rounded woman who is discovered to have a rotting corpse of her husband in her bedroom, and O
Conner s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , that shows a southern family s death at the hand
of a ruthless murderer are both extremely good examples of southern gothic story. While both of
these great writers use southern gothic style they both still use it to demonstrate very different
aspects of southern culture. By comparing and contrasting these two great southern gothic style
writers you will be able to see just how different an author can write a story that still have the same
style of writing just by using a few different techniques. I will focus more on the how the works
achieve their effect, their insight into a human problem, their presentation of emotion and
consciousness, and their giving the reader pleasure.

turns that it was captivating. The book was very descriptive and wordy, but instead of taking away
