The Prevalence of Younger Students Lying to Health...
Communication is a functional, purposeful, and strategic aspect of human socialization. Individuals
have the ability make conscious decisions to control their expressive language to manipulate the
perceived interpretations of others (Burgoon, Callister, Hunsaker, 445). As people acquire language,
they develop sensitivity to the Gricean maxims of conversation. The first of these maxims is Quantity
I , or the failure to provide enough information. The second of these maxims is Quantity II , or the
provision of too much or redundant information. The third of these maxims is Quality , or veracity
(Siegal, Iozzi, and Surian, 2009). These three Gricean maxims of conversation alone encompass the
prevalence of various forms of lying in the context of human communication. The significance of
lying is that it can change various outcomes that negatively impact various circumstances. In the realm
of health care, patients may lie to health professionals for a number of reasons including to acquire
unnecessary or excessive medications, to avoid embarrassment or judgment, and to reduce expensive
medical charges that may accumulate over time. No matter how well intentioned the doctor faced with
a patient in need of help may be, it is he who has the advantage resulting from the knowledge he has
(the truth) and his skills: a disproportion occurs between these two parties (Tanasiewicz, 2005, 16).
Regardless of the motivation patients may have for lying, they may be jeopardizing

The Evolution Of The Hokulea
The Evolution of the Hokulea The story of the Hokulea, a model of the first canoes that brought the
first Polynesians to Hawaii, is a story that restores cultural pride and history to Hawaiians. Her legacy
was almost extinct, but survived and restored the relationship that society has with its island home.
More than 600 years had gone by without seeing one of these canoes, until artist Herb Kane thought to
build a sailing canoe just like the ones his ancestors sailed (Hokulea.com).
Polynesia was a massive country forming a triangle that stretched between New Zealand in the west,
Rapa Nui in the east, and Hawaii in the north. This triangle covered 10 million square miles. It was
discovered by these amazing people who were like the astronauts of the time, because of their
amazing exploration skills. Remarkably, these Polynesians arrived in Hawaii 1,000 years before
Columbus sailed to the Americas. They were considered some of the greatest explorers in all of
history. These explorers were able to discover every livable land mass and island in the Pacific,
without the use of modern technology. All they had were canoes that were very similar to the Hokulea.
Polynesian explorers relied heavily on the stars, winds, waves, and other signs from nature to navigate
the ocean. Hawaii has a very historical and traditionally rooted culture, and the Hokulea is the
beginning and the very center of it. Hawaiians were able to develop the islands and mastered the art of
living sustainably.

Kite Runner Vs Slumdog Millionaire
Jamal and Salim were sitting on the train, sharing food, and laughing with a song playing in the
background. Sometimes I think sittin on trains Every stop I get to I m clocking that game Everyone s a
winner, we re making our fame Bona fide hustler making my name There are many ways The Kite
Runner and Slumdog Millionaire have their similarities. However, they can also be different in their
own ways. Today, we re going to compare the two. First, we ll start with the racist comparisons. Next,
it will be character comparisons. Last, but not least, we ll go over plot comparisons. The Kite Runner
can have similar and different comparisons of the racist undertones compared to Slumdog Millionaire.

More or less, they are still akin. In the time of Slumdog Millionaire, Jamal is answering questions on a
game show to earn one million dollars, except the police thinks he s cheating because he s a slumdog.
Jamal has to explain how he knew the answers to the questions. Meanwhile, in The Kite Runner, we
see Amir grow up and he explains to us how his past events caused Rahim Khan to call him. The Kite
Runner takes place in Kabul, Afghanistan. While in Slumdog Millionaire, the setting is Mumbai,
India. Amir had grown up without his mother and so did Hassan. When Jamal and Salim were
younger, their home was destroyed by a hoard of people. Their mother was killed then and they were
orphaned. At the orphanage in India, they utilized the children to gather up money by begging for it.
The orphanage also stole some of the kids eyes. Jamal s childhood friend, Latika, was forced to dance
for men and she almost had her virginity sold before Jamal and Salim saved her. Amidst The Kite
Runner, after Sohrab was bought from the orphanage, they made him dance for the men and he was
molested. As Jamal and Salim get older, Jamal finds out that his brother married Latika off to their
slum s gangster. After failing an attempt to get Latika back, he becomes a contestant on a game show,
so Latika would see him. Jamal knows all the answers to the questions because of his childhood

Cause And Effect Essay On Scarlet Fever
You have a fever of 102 degrees or higher. It hurts to move, because you have a sandpaper like rash, it
feels as almost youre burning from the inside out. You have side effects like nausea, vomiting,
headache, swollen glands, body aches, and even the horrible ¨strawberry tongue¨. This sickness is
definitely something you would pay money for to never have again, as this is very serious and not
something to take lightly. This is know as the Scarlet Fever. In the 1800s, the scarlet fever was
basically known as a death sentence.
¨One of the most dreaded diseases of childhood¨. This disease is so severe that it causes death in a
short amount of time or gives rise to even more severe complications. In the seventeenth century, this
disease was separated from other infections, especially the measles, but remained for the nineteenth
century. The fatality of this disease depends upon the virulence of the Scarlet Fever organism. Death
from the Scarlet Fever varies from one to fifteen percent. This deadly diseases is definitely not
something that people took lightly, that is rather a good thing though.
The cause of the scarlet fever is actually rather complicated. Scientist are mostly sure that Streptococci
are almost constantly found in the throat and blood of Scarlet Fever patients. They say it is caused by
an infection with the group A beta hemolytic streptococcus. Which is usually transmitted by
respiratory droplets. The period of incubation varies, but it generally lasts from 3 to

Persuasive Essay On The Problem Of Global Warming
The world is addicted to fossil fuels, but it is quickly using up its resources and destroying the
environment. Based on current estimates, oil and natural gas will peak by 2040. In addition, over the
past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history
(MacMillan Para 1). The United States needs to figure out a way to fulfill their massive demand for
power while ensuring the safety of the planet. There are many possible ways to attack the problem at
hand. The first proposal is to mandate the installment of solar rooftop units throughout the country.
Another proposal is to install solar parks throughout the country. A final proposal is to simply
incentivize the use and development of solar energy while phasing out fossil fuels. By implementing
one of these three proposals, the United States government could help solve a problem that looms over
the entire population.
The major problem solar energy will look to fix is global warming. Global warming is the gradual
increase of the average global temperature. This rise in heat is caused by the greenhouse effect, which
is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth s atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in
light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a greenhouse (What is Global Warming Para
4). This process is natural and keeps Earth at an inhabitable temperature. Recently, however, the
burning of fossil fuels has enhanced this effect, which is

Abstract
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 is an amendment to the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces the Pregnancy
Discrimination Act. Under the act, an employer cannot lawfully refuse to hire a woman if she is
pregnant unless her condition makes it impossible for her to perform the major functions of the
position. I think this amendment was a great achievement for all woman trying to show they are

An employee cannot be forced to take pregnancy leave if they are still willing and able to work.
An employee must be provided the same level of medical benefits, disability insurance and leave as
are offered for other medical conditions or disabilities.
A male employee is entitled to health insurance coverage for his wife s pregnancy related conditions if
a female employee s husband has comprehensive health insurance coverage.
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act does not require preferential treatment for pregnant employees.
Rather, it mandates that employers treat pregnant employees the same as non pregnant employees who
are similarly situated with respect to their ability to work. The PDA expands the definition of sex in
Title VII as follows:
The terms because of sex or on the basis of sex include but are not limited to, because of or on the
basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions ; and women affected by pregnancy,
childbirth, or related medical conditions shall be treated the same for all employment related purposes,
including the receipt of benefits under fringe benefit programs, as other persons not so affected but
similar in their ability or inability to work. (EEOC)
Pregnancy discrimination is still occurring today. The Equal Employment Opportunities Commission
(EEOC) received 6,196 charges of pregnancy based discrimination in 2009. This is a significant

The Causes Of The Suez Crisis
The Suez Crisis began on October 29,1956 when Egypt was invaded by 10 Israeli brigades, British
and French troops followed two days later. The invasion was the result of Egypt s President Gamal
Abdel Nasser nationalising the Suez Canal Company, Britain and France were concerned about their
influence over the flow of oil into Europe. In response to the nationalisation of the Suez Canal,
English Prime Minister Anthony Eden, secretly formulated a plan with his allies France and Israel in
which they d retake the canal from Nasser, reinstating British and French authority over the flow of oil
from the Middle East while allowing the newly created Israel passage through the canal which Egypt
had blocked.
Gamal Abdel Nasser became President of Egypt in 1956, after a military coup. Prior to being
President, Nasser was an officer in the Egyptian Army when they were defeated by the newly
established State of Israel in 1948 leaving him with strong anti Israel sentiment. During his military
service Nasser founded the Free Officers group who sought to oust the occupying British forces from
Egypt. In 1954 after frequent brutal attacks against British troops by Egyptians, Britain signed an
agreement stating that British troops would vacate Egypt completely within the next 20 months, the
agreement ended British rule in Egypt. Nasser was a staunch Arab nationalist, which made him
extremely popular with the Egyptian public as they were deeply unhappy with Britain s colonial rule

The Spiral Road Summary
The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the People
Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just another text
of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the people involved, as
much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a series of stories that
staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the
late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both of their spirit in storytelling,
one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book with an appropriate framework.
Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is slowly opening up to the rest of the
world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to the peasantry, who feed the
development of China from bottom up. However, Huang s adaptation of Secretary Ye s voice skews
his work towards subjectivity or bias that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The repeated problem reading this book was a desire to know more, which sometimes was fulfilled in
later chapters. However, the question of validation was another. Ye just was not enough. His own
behavior and practices of traditional storytelling and keeping alive the family value suggested that the
purge of traditions in countryside did not leave a significant result as wanted by the nationalist
government. However, in the midst of the book foreseeing the Cultural Revolution is overshadowed
by Ye s tone describing his earlier political activism after end of Shaoqi s rule, where his military aims
transformed to a menial local post in his home village as a result of the Four Cleanup movement.
Again, Ye s self serving bias in the context of the reforms from the Four Cleanups to the Cultural
Revolution withhold the power of historical experiences of the larger

Music Industry And Its Influence On Modern Society
In the twenty first century, we have an abundant variety of music genres, old and new. Music has a
versatile role in modern society. Music serves just as many purposes as it possesses in genres. For
listeners, music is not simply an escape or form of entertainment; it is a source of inspiration and self
expression. Sometimes, this can be problematic and lead to false identities and music miscegenation.
The music industry has had a powerful influence on what listeners consume. In this process,
traditional black music genres have crossed over to the mainstream. This has been problematic in that
it gives listeners the sense that the music industry is fully integrated. In reality, the white dominated
music industry and labels are still using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This forged an identity of cultural togetherness as time progressed, but in reality, this was just a new
form of cultural appropriation and subjugation. Despite the musical politics in regards to control,
black expression has voiced itself in the past century. The innovations of jazz and gospel music paved
the way for soul, funk, disco, and rhythm blues and then expanded that pathway for rap and hip hop in
the later half of the century. Various innovations such as 12 bar blues and beat matching can be
attributed to African American culture. One genre of music that emerged from African American roots
was disco. Although disco expanded and became popularized in mainstream culture, disco began as an
expression of black and Latino power. Disco possesses elements of Afro Cuban salsa as well as
Jamaican dub, reggae, and ska. Disco served as a versatile cultural tool for not only ethnic minorities
but also gay rights activism, prior to its adoption by white audiences and artists. There was backlash
by white audiences and rock musicians towards black disco artist heard on the radio and this lead to
the coined phrase, disco sucks. Disco went on to die by the eve of the eighties, but elements of groove
and fast paced beats are still prevalent in today s popular music. Many of the R B and rock artists who
conformed to disco during its popularity returned to their authentic identity

Analysis Of Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex
The first text we explore in this step is Bonaventure s On Seeing God in his Image . Bonaventure
shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most
important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our
neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which focused
on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping those being
marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the Church as a
community can fight to protect them. The following text comes from Simone de Beauvoir called The
Second Sex, which discusses the ideas of the feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s the
proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in The Second
Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In all of these texts we
are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create unfair rules and regulations
only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group of oppressor thrives off of
alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of solidarity is the only way to
combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown that through solidarity comes
freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God wants for God s people is
inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the more secular texts from King, de
Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only way to fight prejudice is to unite the
people of either side of the problem, and have them work together to make the whole of society a
more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate
seemingly opposing groups. The next theme contingent throughout the step is the benefits of
community. This is similar to the inclusiveness that comes from solidarity, but through community we
can prevent oppression from happening

Analysis Of Lolita s Tehran, And Fidelity
When entering this unit of postmodernism, my only thoughts were of a reluctant nature. I
pessimistically expected only disagreement and frustration from reading the works of Life of Pi,
Reading Lolita in Tehran, and Fidelity. However, my initial expectations were completely and
thankfully wrecked. Though the philosophies of both Martel and Nafisi contradict my own, there are
endless gems of insight to be plundered from their writings. These postmodern works emphasize
where we as humans find our identity and how religion plays into that identity. Contrary to my
presumptions, I learned so much from reading these novels woven with postmodernists thought and
can say with confidence that I am a better and more educated person for having read them.
Postmodernism is not a wholly cohesive ideology that can be covered in a single blanket statement. It
is more of an umbrella that contains many miscellaneous modern conceptions of things. (Uhhhh
citation, idrk) There is an over arching theme, however, that rejects objective truth. This belief would
argue that truth can be constructed by each person individually. For Pi, this meant his house could be a
temple for gods from Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam (Martel 45 46). It did not matter that those
religions were not congruous, he just wanted to love God (Martel 69). His truth was that all religions
are true (Martel 69). Nafisi similarly creates her own truth in her living room which became [her]
sanctuary, [her] self contained

The Substantially Likely Factor
The government has failed to demonstrate that the forced medication of Mr. Whitman against his will,
is substantially likely to render him competent to stand trial. To protect the liberty interests of
defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged
Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick defendant
who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting clear and
convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick defendant well
enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123 S. Ct.(2003). The government

Difference Between Popper And Empiricism
The truth of science: Empiricists versus Popper versus Kuhn For as far as we know through writings
and drawings people have always been interested in doing some kind of science. The word science
comes from the Latin word scientia , which means knowledge . The Egyptians, Greek, Chinese and
Romans already had ideas about science. Some of these scientific ideas were nicely documented and
preserved. Up until the 20th century people used induction1 as means of proof without questioning the
principles of induction. This paper is going to explain why according to Popper induction was not the
way to do good science . And how Popper thought science 1Induction is a specific form of reasoning
in which the premises of an argument support a conclusion, but do not ensure it.[7] worked. Then
compare this with the way Kuhn argued science worked. 2 Definitions First of all, it s really important
that we re all on the same page. This paper is based on the following assumptions. Knowledge,
intelligence and observation exist in some way or form that depends on the context. Something or

falsification. Which is, instead of trying to prove something is true, you try to prove it s false. If you

moving on has only made him more upset. For Will, everyday life reminds him of what he can t have
and what a disadvantage he is at. Just a simple outing that may have been fun, can turn disastrous
because of his disability, like when his wheelchair got stuck in the mud at the track. By showing the

To Freely Bloom, By Gerry Spence
To freely bloom That is my definition of success. This is how Gerry Spence, a semi retired American
trial lawyer, views the meaning of the word bloom. Spence, also never losing a criminal case as a
defense attorney and prosecutor since 2014, is a trustworthy source. He believes that to be successful
in life is for one to bloom freely and truly. For one to glow confidently and without hesitation. To not
be afraid to show their true self to themselves and to others. Bloom is a radiant, happy, and youthful
glow in a person s complexion. Bloom can be illustrated in several different ways that all seem to
relate to one another. The word bloom has a positive and uplifting connotation. A person who is
blooming has a healthy, energetic, and attractive

The Hobbit s Heroic Journey
Do all stories need to have every part of the Heroic Journey to be considered heroic? I will be
explaining the similarities and differences between the book The Hobbit and the movie Wreck It
Ralph. To find which has a stronger Heroic Journey. The Hobbit is a stronger Heroic Journey than
Wreck It Ralph. This can be seen through a comparison of the departure, initiation, and the return.
Wreck It Ralph was definitely shorter than The Hobbit. The hobbit was more into detail and feelings,
and had way more adventures to overcome. Wreck It Ralph didn t have as many obstacles and it wasn
t going into depth with feelings and actions. That is why The Hobbit had more Heroic Journey than
Wreck It Ralph. The Hobbit has more feelings and excitement than ... Show more content on

Wreck It Ralph matches up pretty much even with The Hobbit for the departure. The hobbit has a little
more for the initiation, and The Hobbit definitely has more for the return than Wreck It Ralph. In the
departure of Wreck It Ralph, Ralph is in his own game doing what he does everyday: wrecking things.
Everyone is scared of him and thinks that he could never become a hero. During The Hobbit, the
hobbit is at home in his hobbit hole all nice and comfy until asked to go on this weird journey. The
part that makes it weird is that hobbits don t go on adventures. During the initiation of The Hobbit
there was a lot of dangers and obstacles to overcome such as the forest of the spiders, the woodeleves,
finding the keyhole, finding Smaug, and lots of other events. The initiation for Wreck It Ralph was
less exciting and didnt have obstacles such as receiving the medal, destroying the car, and helping
Vanellope win the race. Wreck It Ralph did not have an exciting return. All of the dangers were
destroying the candy game so Ralph had to go in and save the game. When the game was saved,
everyone went home and everything went back to normal. For The Hobbit, Bilbo stalled when he was
supposed to go home by visiting his new friends. Bilbo was also knocked down by the dragon so the
others had to help him. When Bilbo returned home, everyone was excited to see him and surprised to
see that he had

Mexican American Family In The Mexican Family
El cambio es algo bueno. That means change is a good thing and I have a proposal that involves
change for families. I believe that Mexican families deserve a shot to live in America, even if they are
illegal immigrants. The plan involves a way where a United States family and a family from Mexico
can both benefit from each other. The three ways that a U.S. family and a Mexican family can benefit
from each other are: sharing different foods, learning new languages, and learning new life skills.
While these exchanges are going, the Mexican family earns free citizenship as well. This is a
government funded program. The families will have to pay for their own food and housing, but the
housing is supplied by the government for a low price. The housing fee pays for a limited, but
reasonable, amount of water and electricity.
No one likes to eat the same type of food every day. Mexican food is one of the most popular types of
food eaten in the United States. The Mexican families that come over to get their citizenship can run
Mexican restaurants during shifts throughout the day and night. The restaurants will be open 24 hours
a day at places like hospitals, hotels, and colleges. They will make simple kinds of foods like: tacos,
enchiladas, and quesadillas. The food will be sold for a cheaper price than usual, but the quality of the
food will still be well and enjoyable. This will be benefiting the Americans who need a quality lunch
for cheap. This will also benefit the Mexicans

Utopian Safe Sex Talk
A life filled with purely similar beliefs is theoretically impossible to come by, unless somehow a
Utopian society is developed with distinct guidelines forcing identical ideals amongst everyone. Since
that hasn t occurred yet, it is important that as people we are able to see, respect and possibly even
learn from the beliefs and origins of others. How we grow from our experiences in differing
perspectives and ideologies, demonstrate who we are as humans. Growing up having a very close
relationship with my mother and always maintaining strong communication, talking was always
straightforward. I had The Talk over the process on how babies were made when I was six years old.

The instructor not only was incredibly biased, but also attempted to assert her beliefs upon the many
malleable students watching her in the room. She told us that sex is bad and we should abstain from it.
She made sex sound taboo. She showed us pictures of STD s and STI s to further convey her point on
why not to have sex. She told us that our virginity is a sacred gift and how it should only be given to
the person we marry, not only did this automatically disqualify the portion of the kids who had already
had sex, it also did something worse. It instilled the religious beliefs of abstinence in a public school
environment. Public school is unique because of all the different views and ideals that compose it,
therefore I believe that teaching religious beliefs in a public school environment is incorrect. I felt that
the instructor was wrong in her teaching; instead of teaching impressionable kids the safe ways to
have sex and proper hygiene or how to use protection correctly, she assumed that it would be alright to
simply tell us not have sex and we would incoherently obey (which many of us

Republic Of Outsiders Analysis
Activism is defined as the policy or action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or
social change by the Oxford Dictionary online. Traditionally, this is the commonly accepted and
widespread definition used to label the renegades of society, the fighters for justice, and the believers
in change. This trend of societal self modification has predicated our prevailing view of activism,
because social change is, and always has been, a part of human evolution. Nowadays we are faced
with a polymorphous concept of activism that baffles everyone from academics to activists
themselves. Over the past decade, new forms of pseudo activism have appeared, and have proven to
be increasingly difficult to classify under the preexisting categorizations. In Alissa Quart s book
Republic of Outsiders we come across many instances of this quasi activist ... Show more content on

Performance art is often seen as social change campaigns but by analyzing on a case by case basis, we
can see how some are indeed activist movements whereas others are centered more on making a bold,
artistic statement by using controversial contemporary issues as a platform to do so. Emma Sulkowitz,
or mattress girl as she has been dubbed, is primarily a performance artist, dedicating her life to her
artwork. Her ancillary aim is to propagate awareness of sexual violence and rape on college campuses.
Due to her secondary, more public goal, she s seen as an activist whereas in reality she s purely an
icon for genuine activist groups fighting for this particular cause. I would nevertheless consider art as
a novel, and useful expansion on the existing and traditional forms of activism. These individuals with
their unique passions and interests have enriched and altered mainstream culture to a certain extent.
They may not have the intentions to do so, but their actions instigated xxx think of a word that led to

The Health Program Plan For Intervention Of Diabetes
The health education program is addressing the health topic diabetes. Mostly, diabetes is a health
condition that needs a life long self management that is substantial to the patient. Through having a
good intervention plan will lead to a better long term medical outcome. This will enable the patient to
lead a much healthy life.
Goals of intervention The program plan for intervention of diabetes will help to control the blood
sugar levels. According to Ulbricht (2009) with high levels of blood sugar the patient body does not
produce enough insulin. This is because the body has developed resistant to insulin. To normal
individuals the level of blood sugar ranges from 70 to 150. The second goal of the intervention ...

The purpose of treating diabetes is to help bring the blood sugar levels close to normal. Patients
should be aware of the fact that with high blood sugar levels it results to many health problems. Thus,
this objective will help patients to know how to control the levels of their blood sugar. Behavior
objective is essential to ensure that the patients are able to develop healthy behaviours to improve their
health. This is achieved through patients adopting a nutrition plan that will help them to control their
blood sugar level by eating the right food. According to Chazen (2004) diabetic patients should eat
foods that are rich in carbohydrates, proteins and fats with an appropriate amount. Through having a
healthy diet it will be the key to manage diabetes especially the blood sugar levels (Ulbricht, 2009).
This objective is essential to patients with both level 1 and 2 diabetes. Health status objective is also
essential in the program. This is achieved by patients checking their insulin levels in the body. This is
mostly used by patients with level 1 diabetes. Patients with level 1 diabetes are required to take insulin
and this will help to control levels of their blood sugar. High levels of insulin are experienced by
diabetic patients who produce hormone insulin amounts that are mot sufficient (Manthappa, 2008).
With high levels of insulin it can result to rise in the blood sugar levels which may lead to complicated
health problems.

How The Stereotypes Associated With My Identity Affect Me
I am an African American male who loves to dance, play sports, and rap. I fit into a multitude of
stereotypes of an African American male except I have never committed a crime or ever joined a gang.
Stereotypes can be true and not necessarily a bad thing; I think it is great I am good at basketball and
dancing. However, stereotypes can also be very harmful in our conception of other people. One might
see me walking down the street at night and assume I am a thug instead of an Honors student at
Loyola Marymount University. I do not want to delve into the topic of how the stereotypes associated
with my identity affect me; rather, I would like to analyze the negative effect of the stereotype of the
supposedly happy ideal luxurious woman in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cultural stereotypes around gender are perceived as inevitable truths rather than stereotypes to be
challenged [that] undermine calls for equality between men and women (Donovan 17). This ignorance
causes people to think they only need to look at the surface level when judging a person s value as it
relates to gender. What happens when someone s value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody
and the clothes they wear? The seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that.
The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely wealthy, adorned with
jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle.
The market plays into feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items predominantly to women, and
women who can afford them invariably become luxury items themselves (Chocano 110). Almost all
the high end luxury brands like Prada and Tiffany and Co. are regarded as women s brands that also
offer a small selection of men s items. The targeting of woman by these brands cause the woman to
objectified as only a means to sell their product. The woman wearing all of the clothing becomes a
luxury item herself due to how rare it is for her to gain the financial freedom buy the clothes and

The Glorification Of Death In Homer s The Iliad
From the beginning of times, society has had something to glorify. While the world changes and new
things come up, groups tend to be awed and the topic becomes well known. Some of these topics are
positive while others are more neutral. Compared to times such as the Trojan war, many of these
topics have changed and others, we no longer need or they just don t impact our lives anymore. The
following topics are part of lives from way back in time, to the current time in history.
The biggest thing of the 21st century is technology. Since its introduction people have grown addicted
to their phones, laptops, etc. These devices take part in everyone s life and even have people addicted.

Death has always been with humans and it ultimately hasn t changed in the sense of how we honor
those that pass. In The Iliad, they would honor the dead by burning the corpse, allowing the one who
passed to move on to the afterlife. Today, we honor our dead by a proper burial. Death happens all the
time and is always saddening. People who draw close to one that passes may never get on with life,
having knowing they will never see them again until their time is up. Death has been a big deal since
day 1 and will never be something we don t glorify. This time in life is simply a strong impact on all
lives. Similar to the deaths in The Iliad, if a well known person is to pass, the world could be
impacted. If the person was not a big factor in many lives, the death may impact close friends and
family.
Not all things that were glorified during the time of The Iliad are glorified now, however, the topics
we do glorify, seem to be slightly similar. As time continues to move on, that of which we glorify
changes constantly. Others topics, such as death, will never change, just the way we allow those who
pass to carry on as they please. The 3 topics above have played a role in society since the beginning of
human life and are not expected to change as long as we populate the

Literature Review On Gifted Education
An Exploratory Literature Review: Trends in Early Childhood Gifted Education
First Phase Research Results
Introduction
My interest gifted education started, when I reflected on my teaching experience and philosophy.
Before start pursuing my master degree in the US, I was a kindergarten teacher. During my practice in
a public school kindergarten classroom, I had a very bright student who immediately picked up cues
that I gave about the activity of the day. She was quickly and correctly finishing the basic math
activities. In addition, she was very creative during the art activities. She also demonstrated leadership
skills among her classmates. While I was evaluating her, I attributed her success to her family
environment. Compared to her classmates, she had very attentive parents. Moreover, she was the last
child of the family and her older two siblings were academically successful role models for her. Most
importantly, she also attended preschool before she started kindergarten; therefore, her performance
was higher compared to classmates who did not have these same experiences. Once I become familiar
with advance courses in gifted education, I now realize and feel my mistake, which was either not to
consult schools guidance counselor or learn more how to engage her with different type of activities.
Therefore, as a part of my professional development, I wanted to focus on the teacher role in the early
childhood gifted education. However, I had very little knowledge about

Niche Marketing
Niche Marketing I. Niche market and niche marketing. 1. Definition Niche market is the subset of the
market on which a specific product is focused. The market niche defines the product features aimed at
satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics
that is intended to impact. It is also a small market segment Niche marketing is a portion of market
that you have identified as having some special characteristic and that is worth marketing for. On the
other words, niche marketing is to concentrate all marketing efforts on a small but specific and
profitable defined segment of the market. While niche markets are focus, they are not necessary small.

2. Condition for an Ideal Niche Market. The first condition for a niche market is ideal is if the market
is large enough to be profitable for businesses. The fact that the niche market s size is too small to
offset the cost to the business. In this case the exploring a niche market have no meaning for business
anymore. Secondly, niche markets have to grow potentially. Once businesses have chosen a niche
market, the growth of niche markets synonymous with the growth of the company. In fact if holding a
niche businesses can not afford to expand business will bring a lot of risks, no assurance market
segment that will not shrink. The third reason is niche market is not ideal anymore to exist due to too
many competitors. Even though the opponent is not too strong a threat to enterprises pie will become
less tasty if it is divided for too many people. Once you have identified a niche market to satisfy all
three conditions, then on the 4th reason, it now needs to do is to determine their ability to meet that
segment or not. If the potential of the small businesses that require large customer, the exploit that
niche will become meaningless. The last thing. whether the company has the ability to protect
themselves against the attacks of the main competitors or not? This is an important factor to ensure the

  • 2. The Prevalence of Younger Students Lying to Health... Communication is a functional, purposeful, and strategic aspect of human socialization. Individuals have the ability make conscious decisions to control their expressive language to manipulate the perceived interpretations of others (Burgoon, Callister, Hunsaker, 445). As people acquire language, they develop sensitivity to the Gricean maxims of conversation. The first of these maxims is Quantity I , or the failure to provide enough information. The second of these maxims is Quantity II , or the provision of too much or redundant information. The third of these maxims is Quality , or veracity (Siegal, Iozzi, and Surian, 2009). These three Gricean maxims of conversation alone encompass the prevalence of various forms of lying in the context of human communication. The significance of lying is that it can change various outcomes that negatively impact various circumstances. In the realm of health care, patients may lie to health professionals for a number of reasons including to acquire unnecessary or excessive medications, to avoid embarrassment or judgment, and to reduce expensive medical charges that may accumulate over time. No matter how well intentioned the doctor faced with a patient in need of help may be, it is he who has the advantage resulting from the knowledge he has (the truth) and his skills: a disproportion occurs between these two parties (Tanasiewicz, 2005, 16). Regardless of the motivation patients may have for lying, they may be jeopardizing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Evolution Of The Hokulea The Evolution of the Hokulea The story of the Hokulea, a model of the first canoes that brought the first Polynesians to Hawaii, is a story that restores cultural pride and history to Hawaiians. Her legacy was almost extinct, but survived and restored the relationship that society has with its island home. More than 600 years had gone by without seeing one of these canoes, until artist Herb Kane thought to build a sailing canoe just like the ones his ancestors sailed (Hokulea.com). Polynesia was a massive country forming a triangle that stretched between New Zealand in the west, Rapa Nui in the east, and Hawaii in the north. This triangle covered 10 million square miles. It was discovered by these amazing people who were like the astronauts of the time, because of their amazing exploration skills. Remarkably, these Polynesians arrived in Hawaii 1,000 years before Columbus sailed to the Americas. They were considered some of the greatest explorers in all of history. These explorers were able to discover every livable land mass and island in the Pacific, without the use of modern technology. All they had were canoes that were very similar to the Hokulea. Polynesian explorers relied heavily on the stars, winds, waves, and other signs from nature to navigate the ocean. Hawaii has a very historical and traditionally rooted culture, and the Hokulea is the beginning and the very center of it. Hawaiians were able to develop the islands and mastered the art of living sustainably. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Persuasive Essay On The Problem Of Global Warming The world is addicted to fossil fuels, but it is quickly using up its resources and destroying the environment. Based on current estimates, oil and natural gas will peak by 2040. In addition, over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history (MacMillan Para 1). The United States needs to figure out a way to fulfill their massive demand for power while ensuring the safety of the planet. There are many possible ways to attack the problem at hand. The first proposal is to mandate the installment of solar rooftop units throughout the country. Another proposal is to install solar parks throughout the country. A final proposal is to simply incentivize the use and development of solar energy while phasing out fossil fuels. By implementing one of these three proposals, the United States government could help solve a problem that looms over the entire population. The major problem solar energy will look to fix is global warming. Global warming is the gradual increase of the average global temperature. This rise in heat is caused by the greenhouse effect, which is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth s atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a greenhouse (What is Global Warming Para 4). This process is natural and keeps Earth at an inhabitable temperature. • 10. The Causes Of The Suez Crisis The Suez Crisis began on October 29,1956 when Egypt was invaded by 10 Israeli brigades, British and French troops followed two days later. The invasion was the result of Egypt s President Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalising the Suez Canal Company, Britain and France were concerned about their influence over the flow of oil into Europe. In response to the nationalisation of the Suez Canal, English Prime Minister Anthony Eden, secretly formulated a plan with his allies France and Israel in which they d retake the canal from Nasser, reinstating British and French authority over the flow of oil from the Middle East while allowing the newly created Israel passage through the canal which Egypt had blocked. Gamal Abdel Nasser became President of Egypt in 1956, after a military coup. Prior to being President, Nasser was an officer in the Egyptian Army when they were defeated by the newly established State of Israel in 1948 leaving him with strong anti Israel sentiment. During his military service Nasser founded the Free Officers group who sought to oust the occupying British forces from Egypt. In 1954 after frequent brutal attacks against British troops by Egyptians, Britain signed an agreement stating that British troops would vacate Egypt completely within the next 20 months, the agreement ended British rule in Egypt. • 11. The Spiral Road Summary The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to the peasantry, who feed the development of China from bottom up. Sometimes, this can be problematic and lead to false identities and music miscegenation. The music industry has had a powerful influence on what listeners consume. This forged an identity of cultural togetherness as time progressed, but in reality, this was just a new form of cultural appropriation and subjugation. Despite the musical politics in regards to control, black expression has voiced itself in the past century. The innovations of jazz and gospel music paved the way for soul, funk, disco, and rhythm blues and then expanded that pathway for rap and hip hop in the later half of the century. Various innovations such as 12 bar blues and beat matching can be attributed to African American culture. One genre of music that emerged from African American roots was disco. Although disco expanded and became popularized in mainstream culture, disco began as an expression of black and Latino power. Disco possesses elements of Afro Cuban salsa as well as Jamaican dub, reggae, and ska. There was backlash by white audiences and rock musicians towards black disco artist heard on the radio and this lead to the coined phrase, disco sucks. • 13. Analysis Of Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex The first text we explore in this step is Bonaventure s On Seeing God in his Image . Bonaventure shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which focused on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping those being marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the Church as a community can fight to protect them. One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s the proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in The Second Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In all of these texts we are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create unfair rules and regulations only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group of oppressor thrives off of alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of solidarity is the only way to combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown that through solidarity comes freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God wants for God s people is inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the more secular texts from King, de Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only way to fight prejudice is to unite the people of either side of the problem, and have them work together to make the whole of society a more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate seemingly opposing groups. The next theme contingent throughout the step is the benefits of community. This is similar to the inclusiveness that comes from solidarity, but through community we can prevent oppression from happening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Analysis Of Lolita s Tehran, And Fidelity When entering this unit of postmodernism, my only thoughts were of a reluctant nature. I pessimistically expected only disagreement and frustration from reading the works of Life of Pi, Reading Lolita in Tehran, and Fidelity. However, my initial expectations were completely and thankfully wrecked. Though the philosophies of both Martel and Nafisi contradict my own, there are endless gems of insight to be plundered from their writings. These postmodern works emphasize where we as humans find our identity and how religion plays into that identity. Contrary to my presumptions, I learned so much from reading these novels woven with postmodernists thought and can say with confidence that I am a better and more educated person for having read them. Postmodernism is not a wholly cohesive ideology that can be covered in a single blanket statement. It is more of an umbrella that contains many miscellaneous modern conceptions of things. (Uhhhh citation, idrk) There is an over arching theme, however, that rejects objective truth. This belief would argue that truth can be constructed by each person individually. For Pi, this meant his house could be a temple for gods from Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam (Martel 45 46). It did not matter that those religions were not congruous, he just wanted to love God (Martel 69). His truth was that all religions are true (Martel 69). • 19. Difference Between Popper And Empiricism The truth of science: Empiricists versus Popper versus Kuhn For as far as we know through writings and drawings people have always been interested in doing some kind of science. The word science comes from the Latin word scientia , which means knowledge . The Egyptians, Greek, Chinese and Romans already had ideas about science. Some of these scientific ideas were nicely documented and preserved. Up until the 20th century people used induction1 as means of proof without questioning the principles of induction. This paper is going to explain why according to Popper induction was not the way to do good science . And how Popper thought science 1Induction is a specific form of reasoning in which the premises of an argument support a conclusion, but do not ensure it.[7] worked. Then compare this with the way Kuhn argued science worked. 2 Definitions First of all, it s really important that we re all on the same page. This paper is based on the following assumptions. • 21. Euthanasia In Me Before You, By Jojo Moyes In the book Me Before You, the author Jojo Moyes chooses to illustrate the importance of euthanasia as an option for ending your life if unable to live it to it s full potential. Moyes character, William Traynor had a perfect life before the accident that left him paralyzed and unwilling to live. Some may see the novel as just another story about troubled love, but it has a deeper, underlying message that Jojo Moyes wishes to express. The author wants to bring up the issue of euthanasia and discuss the different sides that people may have on it and the fine line between what is right and morally wrong. Jojo Moyes wants to educate the reader on euthanasia through insight on the feelings of the disabled, the people around them, and clues to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the accident, his life was perfect in every way. He was active, adventurous, and had an amazing job and an amazing girlfriend, and now that he is disabled, he can t have any of that. Everywhere he looks, he is reminded of the life he used to have and he can t possibly imagine living in any other way. While it is true that most disabled people still wish to live, Moyes chooses to show the side of people who do not. Will sees his old friends making new relationships and moving on without him. This reality truly sets in when his old girlfriend Alicia and his old best friend drop by to give him some news, I thought, we thought that it would only be right to let you know...but, well, here s the thing. Rupert and I are getting married. But, you know, life goes on. You must know that. It s been two years, after all (56). Will s depression had pushed them away from him and now, hearing that they are moving on has only made him more upset. I will be explaining the similarities and differences between the book The Hobbit and the movie Wreck It Ralph. To find which has a stronger Heroic Journey. The Hobbit is a stronger Heroic Journey than Wreck It Ralph. This can be seen through a comparison of the departure, initiation, and the return. Wreck It Ralph was definitely shorter than The Hobbit. Wreck It Ralph matches up pretty much even with The Hobbit for the departure. The hobbit has a little more for the initiation, and The Hobbit definitely has more for the return than Wreck It Ralph. In the departure of Wreck It Ralph, Ralph is in his own game doing what he does everyday: wrecking things. Everyone is scared of him and thinks that he could never become a hero. During The Hobbit, the hobbit is at home in his hobbit hole all nice and comfy until asked to go on this weird journey. The part that makes it weird is that hobbits don t go on adventures. During the initiation of The Hobbit there was a lot of dangers and obstacles to overcome such as the forest of the spiders, the woodeleves, finding the keyhole, finding Smaug, and lots of other events. The initiation for Wreck It Ralph was less exciting and didnt have obstacles such as receiving the medal, destroying the car, and helping Vanellope win the race. Wreck It Ralph did not have an exciting return. All of the dangers were destroying the candy game so Ralph had to go in and save the game. When the game was saved, everyone went home and everything went back to normal. For The Hobbit, Bilbo stalled when he was supposed to go home by visiting his new friends. Bilbo was also knocked down by the dragon so the others had to help him. When Bilbo returned home, everyone was excited to see him and surprised to see that he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Mexican American Family In The Mexican Family El cambio es algo bueno. That means change is a good thing and I have a proposal that involves change for families. I believe that Mexican families deserve a shot to live in America, even if they are illegal immigrants. The plan involves a way where a United States family and a family from Mexico can both benefit from each other. The three ways that a U.S. family and a Mexican family can benefit from each other are: sharing different foods, learning new languages, and learning new life skills. While these exchanges are going, the Mexican family earns free citizenship as well. This is a government funded program. The families will have to pay for their own food and housing, but the housing is supplied by the government for a low price. The housing fee pays for a limited, but reasonable, amount of water and electricity. No one likes to eat the same type of food every day. Mexican food is one of the most popular types of food eaten in the United States. The Mexican families that come over to get their citizenship can run Mexican restaurants during shifts throughout the day and night. The restaurants will be open 24 hours a day at places like hospitals, hotels, and colleges. They will make simple kinds of foods like: tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. The food will be sold for a cheaper price than usual, but the quality of the food will still be well and enjoyable. This will be benefiting the Americans who need a quality lunch for cheap. This will also benefit the Mexicans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She told us that our virginity is a sacred gift and how it should only be given to the person we marry, not only did this automatically disqualify the portion of the kids who had already had sex, it also did something worse. It instilled the religious beliefs of abstinence in a public school environment. Public school is unique because of all the different views and ideals that compose it, therefore I believe that teaching religious beliefs in a public school environment is incorrect. Traditionally, this is the commonly accepted and widespread definition used to label the renegades of society, the fighters for justice, and the believers in change. This trend of societal self modification has predicated our prevailing view of activism, because social change is, and always has been, a part of human evolution. Nowadays we are faced with a polymorphous concept of activism that baffles everyone from academics to activists themselves. What happens when someone s value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody and the clothes they wear? The seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that. The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely wealthy, adorned with jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle. The market plays into feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items predominantly to women, and women who can afford them invariably become luxury items themselves (Chocano 110). Almost all the high end luxury brands like Prada and Tiffany and Co. are regarded as women s brands that also offer a small selection of men s items. Death happens all the time and is always saddening. People who draw close to one that passes may never get on with life, having knowing they will never see them again until their time is up. Literature Review On Gifted Education An Exploratory Literature Review: Trends in Early Childhood Gifted Education First Phase Research Results Introduction My interest gifted education started, when I reflected on my teaching experience and philosophy. Before start pursuing my master degree in the US, I was a kindergarten teacher. During my practice in a public school kindergarten classroom, I had a very bright student who immediately picked up cues that I gave about the activity of the day. She was quickly and correctly finishing the basic math activities. In addition, she was very creative during the art activities. She also demonstrated leadership skills among her classmates. While I was evaluating her, I attributed her success to her family environment. Compared to her classmates, she had very attentive parents. Moreover, she was the last child of the family and her older two siblings were academically successful role models for her. Most importantly, she also attended preschool before she started kindergarten; therefore, her performance was higher compared to classmates who did not have these same experiences. Once I become familiar with advance courses in gifted education, I now realize and feel my mistake, which was either not to consult schools guidance counselor or learn more how to engage her with different type of activities. Therefore, as a part of my professional development, I wanted to focus on the teacher role in the early childhood gifted education. However, I had very little knowledge about ...
