Faint Memories Of My Birth Certificates
Starting this assignment, I do no feel overwhelming emotion to see my birth certificate. Faint
memories of my certificate linger within my head. In the past, I examined my birth certificate for
reasons I forgotten. Through these past examinations, I m certain that nothing out of the ordinary
pertaining to this document exist. I believe that my parents carry truth in their words and that my
mother brought me into this life. All though, I suppose checking this document serves well to
familiarize myself with this legal document. Asking my parents for this document, they questioned
why I desired to see it after such a long time. I explained to them that it correlates to a writing
assignment for my critical thinking class. My parents overwhelmed with confusion to what kind of
assignment correlates to ones birth certificate, but I insisted that they would be better off not asking
questions. Confused and a bit off, they take me upstairs to a locked filing cabinet where all important
documents that correspond to my family belong. Rummaging through the section of my documents,
they pull out my birth certificate. A minuscule amount of excitement runs through my body. This small

Business in Asia Tutorial Program Semester 2, 2014 Guide Notes Tutorial 4: Japan: Changing
business environment growth, stagnation and Abenomics 1. Outline very briefly the main factors that
led to the bubble economy of the 1980s and its crash? The appreciation of the Yen following the Plaza
Accords under US pressure and the policy responses.  Japanese industries lost international
competitiveness and the economy slowed. The government loosened monetary policies to counteract
this and stimulate the economy.  The supply of money expanded, this money was invested in
domestic assets (real estate and stock market) whose prices went up; as their prices went up people
invested more funds, prices went up even more, then people invested ... Show more content on

(b) Japanese investors do not see any better investment options. In theory they could invest in foreign
markets. But in practice there has been strong home bias in investment, and many large pension funds
etc have been managed by bureaucrats who have been very conservative. International conditions
have been very volatile and Japanese yen has been seen as a safe haven currency because Japan as a
country is not an indebted country, say like the US. So, the currency has tended to be quite strong,
often appreciating; this reduced the attraction of investing abroad. 4. Why is the Japanese government
in debt, but Japan is a net saver? Recall national income accounts. National savings are not the same
as government savings. National savings = private sector (households + corporates) savings +
government savings. Household and corporate savings have been, until very recently, consistently
higher than government borrowings, though household savings have been coming down in line with
demographic trends (aging population). Corporations (firms) have overall some have invested in
foreign countries through FDI felt that investment options in Japan are poor, so they have been saving
rather than investing. 5. Why have corporate savings increased in Japan, and what does it indicate
about business expectations?

The Energy Development Of Greening Energy Sector
Greening energy sector in India has started through the implementation of various policies and acts in
energy sector. The electricity Act which was enforced in 2003 for the generation of renewable energy,
providing sufficient support and facilitating its purchase was the first formal process in promoting
clean energy (solar energy in India). Other energy policies and acts like National Tariff policy 2006,
National rural electrification policies 2006 and semiconductor policy 2007 have provided ground for
the establishment of standalone off grid renewable energy and also subsidised manufacturing of solar
panels (solar energy in India).
The installed capacity of solar power plant which was 161 MW in 2010 increased up to 4097 MW till
July 2015 (Phillips, 2014).During the year 2014 2015, there has been 42 % increase in the solar power
installed capacity adding up 1112 MW in the renewable energy pool (Power brochure India). Recently
on August 2015, India has turned The Cochin International Airport into entirely solar powered airport
producing 48 KWh of energy which is assumed to save 300,000 tons of Equivalent carbon in the next
25 years (Greenberg, 2015). This has been considered as a great achievement in clean energy
development in India and around world. Madhya Pradesh, Gujrat, Rajasthan, are the leading states in
solar energy production in India. With the aim to reduce the dependency in conventional fuel, Ministry

The Root Causes Of The Somali Conflict
Somalia is a located in eastern Africa, and forms the cap of the Horn of Africa, bordered by Djibouti to
the northwest, Ethiopia to the west Kenya to the south, the Gulf of Aden to the north and the Indian
Ocean to the east. Somalia has the longest shoreline in African, connecting to both the Red Sea and
the Indian Ocean with a length of 3300 KM, which has been essential to its trade with the Middle East
and the rest of East Africa. Having the longest coastline in Africa, Somalia was an important center for
commerce with the rest of the ancient world, and The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 stimulated
European expansion into the region. Prior to European colonial arrival, Somalis did not have a central
state in the sense of a Weberian bureaucratic state. However, they used home grown conflict resolution
mechanisms of Heer (traditional law and Islam for resolving disputes among individuals and groups).
The Somali conflict is characterised by a multifaceted array of causes and drivers that including
political, economic, cultural and psychological. Various marginal and internal factors have played
different roles during the numerous stages of the conflict. The anarchy in Somalia not only affects the
people within Somalia but it also has a number of negative effects on the neighbouring countries. This
essay examines the root causes of the Somali conflict and investigates some of the obstacles that have
plagued peace efforts for the last fourteen years. Competition for

Mary Wollstonecraft Impact On Feminism
Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the earliest pioneers of feminism. Plagued by a series of misfortunate
events, she carried her lessons with her to her grave. Through Mary s education, career, and life
experiences, she proclaimed her radical ideas about education and marriage without shame and was
heralded by some as the first feminist.
Mary Wollstonecraft was born to her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Wollstonecraft, in London on
April 27, 1759. Though Edward could have chosen to stay with his father s successful business as a
silk merchant, he had determined to become a gentleman farmer. Mary moved quite frequently as a
child due to her father s desire, but gentleman farming proved to be a challenging task. Instead of

Fanny invited Mary to live with her but a year later, Mary once again had to leave a place she called
home to help a family member. This time, however, the occasion seemed joyous. Her sister Eliza had
given birth to a child. Unfortunately, all was not as it seemed when in January of 1784, Mary helped
Eliza leave her newborn baby and husband, hiding Eliza away until her marriage was legally annulled.
While Mary, Eliza, Fanny, and Everina were starting a girl s school in Newington Green, Eliza s baby
tragically passed away. Fanny left the school in 1785 and moved to Lisbon, Portugal with her
husband. Mary left England to assist Fanny in childbirth and despite her best efforts, her dear friend
passed away. Upon returning to England, she found the school she had started was in a financial hole.
Consequently, in 1786 Mary closed her school and instead moved to Ireland where she became a
governess for Lady Kingsborough s three daughters. When she resigned the following year, she
decided that she would earn her living as a writer. In 1787, Mary s first book, Thoughts on the
Education of Daughters: With Reflections on Female Conduct, In the More Important Duties of Life,
was published by Joseph Johnson. Mary started writing many articles and translating books into the
English language for her publisher s periodical, the Analytical Review in 1788. Between 1788 to
1790, she wrote several books including: Mary, a Fiction, inspired by the death of Fanny; Original

Herbs By Douglas Shar Summary
The article published on Prevention.com, titled Try the Fountain of Youth Herbs: Plant hormones can
help trick your 50 plus body think it s still 30 something by Douglas Schar, presents clearly subjective
information with relatively little credible and scientifically supported assertions. After analyzing the
Health Connections section in the course textbook, Nutrition From Science to You by Blake, Munoz,
and Volpe, and quackwatch.com, I am wary of trusting the information presented in the herb article.
Rather, I am particularly skeptical of Schar s statements and endorsements. Moreover, Schar is
credited as a clinically trained herbalist, which is not one of the most credible professionals outlined in
the course textbook, such as RDN and LDN. Immediately upon loading the website, my browser s ad
blocker inhibited the content from loading. The website prompted me to either disable the blocker or

commercial site points to its questionable credibility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Carl Sandburg Research Paper
Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a
door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg
attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many
writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve
experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is trying to
communicate through their works.
Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period
commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City. During
this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as Countee
Cullen, Claude McKay and Langston Hughes. This literary period is best known for its use of blues
and folklore in many famous pieces and the African American writers that emerged during this time.
Hughes was very active in social and political causes, He often used his poems as a medium for
cultural protest. He wrote over 50 books and his play Mulatto; a term originally used to refer to
someone who is born from one white and one black parent, was preformed over 300 times on
Broadway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hughes went to stay in Mexico for a year, before studying in NYC at Colombia University for another

The Demise of Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site
Located in present day Collinsville, Illinois is Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, which was once
home to the largest city north of Mexico from 700 to 1400 A.D. Settled by the Mississippian people,
today their decline remains a mystery. First visited in 1811 by traveler Henry Brackenridge and
considered the discoverer of Cahokia only in the sense that he wrote several papers and articles about
the findings to the public s attention. After walking around the mounds, Brackenridge described that
the locations of the last inhabitants were clearly visible to him, as were fragments of their tools and
utensils. Many extensive archeological excavations and several case study theories have come about
through the years as to why this magnificent ancient metropolis faced such demise.
Many theories viable or not have come about through the years about the fall of the Cahokians,
climate change, a political falling out, a massive flood or a fire and some erroneous suggestions
involving the cosmos. Many of these theories really do not hold a torch to the climate change or
societal fall. A massive fire, a disastrous flood, although more evidence of remains would have be
revealed to be appropriate. Overcrowding and depletion of resources can hold up to the evidence and
reigns true in common sense. I will bring up these factors of cause for the demise, but I will explore
and focus mainly on the climate changes in this American Bottom region as the prime factor of the

Risk Analysis. A Risk Analysis Was Prepared As Part Of
Risk Analysis
A risk analysis was prepared as part of the review of Ford as a potential investment opportunity. The
Capital Asset Pricing Model defines the relevant risk of an individual stock as the amount of risk that
the stock contributes to the market portfolio (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250). The risk of a stock can
be measured by its beta. The higher the beta of a stock, the higher the risk. Stocks with a beta below
one are less volatile than the market while stocks with a beta of greater than one are more volatile than
the market. Well diversified portfolios include a stocks with both high and low betas (Brigham
Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250).

service offered by companies like Uber or Lyft rather than owning or leasing their own vehicle. This
has the potential to dramatically decrease the total number of vehicles needed in the United States and
across the world. The business model for the automobile industry is much more profitable at high
sales volumes. If those volumes decrease dramatically, as they did with the economic disruption in
2007, there is the potential that some automobile manufactures will not survive (Ferraras, 2014).
Recommendation
A thorough analysis of Ford, including economic, financial, and risk factors has been completed by
the financial investment team. This analysis was then reviewed to determine if Ford would be an ideal
addition to the client s investment portfolio. As stated earlier, the team is looking to add a large
domestic value stock with a low risk. After considering all available data and key factors, the team
does not recommend an investment in Ford at this time.
Ford has a strong brand and appears to be a well run business. The company has a stellar reputation
and compares favorably to its competitors when analyzing the key financial ratios. Ford has been in
business for over 100 years, surviving multiple world wars and severe economic downturns. If the
team was picking the best automobile company to invest in, Ford would be near the

Purpose Of Performance Appraisal Performance
Literature Review Purpose of Performance Appraisal Performance appraisal aims at clarifying the
employees work expectation, improving employee development, linking pay with performance and
assessing workforce development (Mathus and Jackson, 1998). It makes employees to become aware
of the organizations expectations after performance evaluation which helps them in improving their
performance (de Waal, 2004). This is further emphasized by Gabris and Ihrke (2000) who found out
that the main aim of performance appraisal is the provision of periodic and formal feedback to
individual staff members. According to Wanna, et al (1992), the objective of staff appraisal is to
improve planning and service delivery at the general level and also to provide feedback to individual
officers. Thus performance appraisal provides information to help manage employees in such a way
that employee performance improves (Denisi and Robert, 2006). The ultimate goal of most
performance appraisal systems is to increase employee motivation and productivity The evolution of
performance Appraisal can be traced back to the reign of second caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar (634
644 A.D /13 23 AH) who laid the foundations of many State institutions and enunciated several
administrative laws that are being followed and adopted by many nations of the world till today as a

Skateboarding Is A Popular Activity Among Youth
Nowadays, skateboarding is a very popular activity among youth, and has become an art form to many
enthusiasts. Skateboarding is a hard sport to learn. It s not something that can be learned overnight.
Even the top pros like Paul Rodriguez and Eric Koston still learn new things even though they have
been doing it for years. With skateboarding, there are endless possibilities when it comes to tricks.
When it comes to beginners, learning the basics is the best way to start this great pastime.
First, you should know the anatomy of your skateboard. A skateboard consists of a deck, trucks,
wheels, and bearings. Grip tape is used to help your feet grip the board. Hardware is used to bolt your
trucks to the deck and nuts are used to fasten the wheels on. For information on skateboard products,
visit your local skateboard retailer.
When it comes to skateboarding the first and foremost thing you should learn is how ride. Most people
who have never ridden a skateboard get on the first time and wipe out. Skateboarding requires a great
deal balance. You must always maintain your center of gravity directly over your board. If you lean
too far back, chances are you will fall backwards and the board will shoot out from under you. If you
lean too far forward, chances are you will fall on your face. Maintaining your weight directly over
your board, is the most important thing to know. You should practice by placing your board on carpet
or grass and standing on it with your feet over the

Meiji Restoration Essay
The inception of the Tokugawa Shogunate around 1600 would reduce the impact of foreign relations
throughout Japanese society. This bulwark helped resist change and development in Japan, although it
continued throughout the western world. Following two hundred years of self imposed seclusion from
the rest of the world, the forceful re entry of the foreigner brought about considerable change in Japan.
While managing the foreign threat, there was also an imbalance of power in the current feudal system
of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This imbalance created uncertainty for Japan and the imperialistic
foreigners. This imbalance and uncertainty would lead to the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the
emergence of the Meiji Restoration. However, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the various themes presented in The Analects, there are some particular teachings implicit
within Japans feudalistic samurai society. The general discussion of virtues and morals promoted
within The Analects leads the student to strive to achieve gentleman status or if possible sage status.
While the broad application of these lessons did occur in Japan, there are inherent differences with its
practice in China. While the movement of an individual in social and economic stature in China was
based on the quality of work they were able to complete through their apparent knowledge and work
ethic. The same flexibility did not apply in Japan. The rigid feudal, hereditary structure provided a
lack of upward mobility throughout all of society. So the quest for personal enlightenment was
checked by lack of encouragement and the void of personal independence. However, Confucianism
did support the established government s role of enhancing filial piety. Duke Ching of Ch`I asked
Confucius about government. Confucius answered, Let the ruler be a ruler, the subject a subject, the
father a father, the son a son. The lessons are scattered with words of honoring and obeying your
parents, Meng yi Tzu asked about being filial. The master answered, Never fail to comply. 1 This
application, in its transition to Japan included an individual s superiors, that is to say the daimyo, the
Shogun, and the Emperor.

Masculinity And Its Effect On Male Giraffes
Giraffes have an extremely unique and specific set of courtship behaviours. Giraffes are polygynous
and no long term bond is formed between the male and female giraffes before or after mating occurs.
In fact little is known about what precise factors influences on males mating success rate, how the
female makes a mate choice, the number of males that will copulate with a single female, or offspring
paternity. Giraffe courtship begins with the behaviour known as the flehmen sequence or the urine
test. Giraffe Bachelor Herds congregate near female herds during the wet season to share the lush
abundance of new vegetation but they also begin to seek out female to mate. Solitary male giraffes

responsibilities is to make sure that the rules and policies stay in tact and that the many details that

Abortion Pros And Cons Essay
Introduction Statistically in the United States, one in three American women will have had an abortion
by the time she reaches 45. Laws in the United States are protected by the Tenth Amendment, and vary
depending on the local needs and demands. The problem is extremist politicians are trying to take the
decision of abortion out of women s hands completely. They believe women shouldn t be able to have
an abortion, some citizens are even trying to end programs that provide birth control, putting women
at high risk for unplanned pregnancy. The idea is to let the women choose her outcome if and when

Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilizations By Samuel...
More than two decades have passed since Samuel Huntington published his influential article, the

Massachusetts. These trials began in February 1692 and ended in May of 1693. There were over two
hundred individuals who were accused of practicing witchcraft. Of those two hundred accused, nearly
twenty innocent souls were lost. This was one of the most severe cases of mass hysteria in recorded

What would be considered mental disorders in today s society, no clear medical diagnosis could be
deduced. Partly due to fear and also not being able to diagnose these fits, members of the community
suspected witchcraft to be the culprit. Little did the community know what was about to transpire in
their town over the next year.
The Salem Witch Trials officially began in February 1692 when the afflicted girls accused Tituba, Ms.
Good and Ms. Osborne of witchcraft. Tituba confessed to witchcraft. Not only did she confess, she
also said there were many others who were working for Satan. This triggered the beginning and that is
when the fears of the Salem colonists were realized.
These girls did not all show symptoms at one time. The first girl to start experiencing symptoms was
Betty Parris. She was followed by Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam Jr., Mary Walcott and Mercy Lewis
(History of Massachusetts). These girls were throwing tantrums, hiding under furniture and contorting

science, these girls would have been diagnosed with boredom or epilepsy. Although at the time the
cause was unknown, these symptoms were probably brought on from eating rye infected with fungus.
The three victims were not the only ones accused. There were numerous cases of scapegoating

recognized as sovereign three ways, there can be an act passed in congress, they can go through the

American citizens. They can vote, hold office, pay taxes, follow laws, and are allowed to serve in the

speak in order to achieve a goal. This paper will serve to illustrate a particular dialect that is being
manipulated in order to achieve a goal. I chose to analyze the speech of Larry the Cable Guy and will
attempt to explain the language bias he employs. Larry the Cable Guy is a famous stand up comedian,
actor, voice artist and country music artist. He is best known as a member of the Blue Collar Comedy
Tour where he performs stand up. His real name is Daniel Lawrence Whitney, although he usually is
referred to by his stage name. He was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska. His father was raised in a
farming and cattle ranching family from Northeast Kansas. As a result, Whitney s father became a pig
farmer which is what Whitney was raised around. Then, Whitney moved to Florida in high school
where he gravitated towards people similar to his family. This is when he first began to pick up on the
Southern American English dialect. He then attended Baptist University of America in Georgia where
he majored in drama and speech. He claims to have really picked up on the southern dialect during his
first year of college. He credits his roommate for influencing the way he began to speak as he was
from Dalton, Georgia and had a thick southern accent. Whitney calls himself a linguist chameleon as a
result of always speaking like those that are around him (Graham Bensinger 2017). His ability to
speak another dialect well is obvious during his stand up especially. He clearly articulates a Southern
American English dialect during his stand up and other various roles. The Southern English dialect is
one of the most stigmatized dialects, behind African American Vernacular English. There are many
misconceptions about having a southern accent. Those who speak Southern American English often
face discrimination as many people few it as an ignorant way to speak. It is theorized that the Southern
American English dialect originated in a large part from a mix of immigrants from the British Isles
who moved to the American

  • 2. Faint Memories Of My Birth Certificates Starting this assignment, I do no feel overwhelming emotion to see my birth certificate. Faint memories of my certificate linger within my head. In the past, I examined my birth certificate for reasons I forgotten. Through these past examinations, I m certain that nothing out of the ordinary pertaining to this document exist. I believe that my parents carry truth in their words and that my mother brought me into this life. All though, I suppose checking this document serves well to familiarize myself with this legal document. Asking my parents for this document, they questioned why I desired to see it after such a long time. I explained to them that it correlates to a writing assignment for my critical thinking class. My parents overwhelmed with confusion to what kind of assignment correlates to ones birth certificate, but I insisted that they would be better off not asking questions. Confused and a bit off, they take me upstairs to a locked filing cabinet where all important documents that correspond to my family belong. Rummaging through the section of my documents, they pull out my birth certificate. A minuscule amount of excitement runs through my body. This small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Outline very briefly the main factors that led to the bubble economy of the 1980s and its crash? The appreciation of the Yen following the Plaza Accords under US pressure and the policy responses.  Japanese industries lost international competitiveness and the economy slowed. The government loosened monetary policies to counteract this and stimulate the economy.  The supply of money expanded, this money was invested in domestic assets (real estate and stock market) whose prices went up; as their prices went up people invested more funds, prices went up even more, then people invested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (b) Japanese investors do not see any better investment options. In theory they could invest in foreign markets. But in practice there has been strong home bias in investment, and many large pension funds etc have been managed by bureaucrats who have been very conservative. International conditions have been very volatile and Japanese yen has been seen as a safe haven currency because Japan as a country is not an indebted country, say like the US. So, the currency has tended to be quite strong, often appreciating; this reduced the attraction of investing abroad. 4. Why is the Japanese government in debt, but Japan is a net saver? Recall national income accounts. National savings are not the same as government savings. National savings = private sector (households + corporates) savings + government savings. Household and corporate savings have been, until very recently, consistently higher than government borrowings, though household savings have been coming down in line with demographic trends (aging population). Corporations (firms) have overall some have invested in foreign countries through FDI felt that investment options in Japan are poor, so they have been saving rather than investing. 5. The Root Causes Of The Somali Conflict Somalia is a located in eastern Africa, and forms the cap of the Horn of Africa, bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Ethiopia to the west Kenya to the south, the Gulf of Aden to the north and the Indian Ocean to the east. Somalia has the longest shoreline in African, connecting to both the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean with a length of 3300 KM, which has been essential to its trade with the Middle East and the rest of East Africa. Having the longest coastline in Africa, Somalia was an important center for commerce with the rest of the ancient world, and The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 stimulated European expansion into the region. Prior to European colonial arrival, Somalis did not have a central state in the sense of a Weberian bureaucratic state. However, they used home grown conflict resolution mechanisms of Heer (traditional law and Islam for resolving disputes among individuals and groups). The Somali conflict is characterised by a multifaceted array of causes and drivers that including political, economic, cultural and psychological. Various marginal and internal factors have played different roles during the numerous stages of the conflict. The anarchy in Somalia not only affects the people within Somalia but it also has a number of negative effects on the neighbouring countries. Plagued by a series of misfortunate events, she carried her lessons with her to her grave. Through Mary s education, career, and life experiences, she proclaimed her radical ideas about education and marriage without shame and was heralded by some as the first feminist. Mary Wollstonecraft was born to her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Wollstonecraft, in London on April 27, 1759. Though Edward could have chosen to stay with his father s successful business as a silk merchant, he had determined to become a gentleman farmer. Fanny invited Mary to live with her but a year later, Mary once again had to leave a place she called home to help a family member. This time, however, the occasion seemed joyous. Her sister Eliza had given birth to a child. Unfortunately, all was not as it seemed when in January of 1784, Mary helped Eliza leave her newborn baby and husband, hiding Eliza away until her marriage was legally annulled. While Mary, Eliza, Fanny, and Everina were starting a girl s school in Newington Green, Eliza s baby tragically passed away. Fanny left the school in 1785 and moved to Lisbon, Portugal with her husband. Mary left England to assist Fanny in childbirth and despite her best efforts, her dear friend passed away. Upon returning to England, she found the school she had started was in a financial hole. Consequently, in 1786 Mary closed her school and instead moved to Ireland where she became a governess for Lady Kingsborough s three daughters. When she resigned the following year, she decided that she would earn her living as a writer. In 1787, Mary s first book, Thoughts on the Education of Daughters: With Reflections on Female Conduct, In the More Important Duties of Life, was published by Joseph Johnson. Mary started writing many articles and translating books into the English language for her publisher s periodical, the Analytical Review in 1788. Herbs By Douglas Shar Summary The article published on Prevention.com, titled Try the Fountain of Youth Herbs: Plant hormones can help trick your 50 plus body think it s still 30 something by Douglas Schar, presents clearly subjective information with relatively little credible and scientifically supported assertions. After analyzing the Health Connections section in the course textbook, Nutrition From Science to You by Blake, Munoz, and Volpe, and quackwatch.com, I am wary of trusting the information presented in the herb article. Rather, I am particularly skeptical of Schar s statements and endorsements. Moreover, Schar is credited as a clinically trained herbalist, which is not one of the most credible professionals outlined in the course textbook, such as RDN and LDN. • 11. Carl Sandburg Research Paper Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is trying to communicate through their works. Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City. During this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as Countee Cullen, Claude McKay and Langston Hughes. This literary period is best known for its use of blues and folklore in many famous pieces and the African American writers that emerged during this time. Hughes was very active in social and political causes, He often used his poems as a medium for cultural protest. • 12. The Demise of Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site Located in present day Collinsville, Illinois is Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, which was once home to the largest city north of Mexico from 700 to 1400 A.D. Settled by the Mississippian people, today their decline remains a mystery. First visited in 1811 by traveler Henry Brackenridge and considered the discoverer of Cahokia only in the sense that he wrote several papers and articles about the findings to the public s attention. After walking around the mounds, Brackenridge described that the locations of the last inhabitants were clearly visible to him, as were fragments of their tools and utensils. Many extensive archeological excavations and several case study theories have come about through the years as to why this magnificent ancient metropolis faced such demise. Many theories viable or not have come about through the years about the fall of the Cahokians, climate change, a political falling out, a massive flood or a fire and some erroneous suggestions involving the cosmos. Many of these theories really do not hold a torch to the climate change or societal fall. • 37. Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilizations By Samuel... More than two decades have passed since Samuel Huntington published his influential article, the Clash of Civilizations? (1993). The article presented a new paradigm for describing global politics in the post Cold War world. Huntington s framework divided the world into several major civilizations, and argued that civilization s cultural identity and religions will become the most important driving forces. Civilizations and states behaviors, and mostly participation in conflicts, will no longer be driven from ideological or economic forces as they were during in the time of the cold war era. Moreover, he argued that for the first time the world has become multipolar and multi civilizational. This (the argument?) shapes geopolitics at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially Rrevolutions were initially seen as a new version of the nineteenth century Europe s Spring of Nations or the more contemporary anti communist revolutions of 1989 in Eastern Europe . After years of conflict between values of the Western and Islamic civilizations, the same conflict that Huntington and his critics discuss, some argued, the Muslim Arab world ultimately chose to adopt Western values: human rights, freedom, and democracy. Thus, they experts who believed that the Arab spring symbolized a chance for democracy and change in the Arab world argued, that Islam is not in a clash with the West and its values, but rather exists in many clashes within (within what? Within Islam?). the Arab worlditself. Islam has no role in mobilizing the protestors. Muslim Arab people s will no longer accept their suppressing corrupted illiberal regimes. • 38. Salem Witch Trials Essay The Salem Witch Trials was a very dark period in our history that occurred in the colony of Salem, Massachusetts. These trials began in February 1692 and ended in May of 1693. There were over two hundred individuals who were accused of practicing witchcraft. Of those two hundred accused, nearly twenty innocent souls were lost. This was one of the most severe cases of mass hysteria in recorded history. There was a great effort exhorted by the Massachusetts General Court to declare a guilty verdict, that the framers of the United States Constitution went to great lengths to never let this type of tragedy occur again; commonly known as the eighth amendment. Remarkably so, some may argue that there were similarities in Salem and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What would be considered mental disorders in today s society, no clear medical diagnosis could be deduced. Partly due to fear and also not being able to diagnose these fits, members of the community suspected witchcraft to be the culprit. Little did the community know what was about to transpire in their town over the next year. The Salem Witch Trials officially began in February 1692 when the afflicted girls accused Tituba, Ms. Good and Ms. Osborne of witchcraft. Tituba confessed to witchcraft. Not only did she confess, she also said there were many others who were working for Satan. This triggered the beginning and that is when the fears of the Salem colonists were realized. These girls did not all show symptoms at one time. The first girl to start experiencing symptoms was Betty Parris. She was followed by Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam Jr., Mary Walcott and Mercy Lewis (History of Massachusetts). These girls were throwing tantrums, hiding under furniture and contorting to pain. Since panic and fear set in, witchcraft was the easy choice to make. In today s medical science, these girls would have been diagnosed with boredom or epilepsy. Although at the time the cause was unknown, these symptoms were probably brought on from eating rye infected with fungus. The three victims were not the only ones accused. There were numerous cases of scapegoating running prevalent. Since Tituba confessed, there was little legal ground she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Examples Of Tribal Sovereignty National sovereignty means that a nation is independent, it is governed by the people, and the nation can control itself. America is an example of a sovereign nation. Tribal sovereignty is a Native American tribe s right to govern themselves, watch over their property, regulate their trade and businesses, make and enforce laws, and to tax,. With tribal sovereignty however, they can not declare war, engage in foreign relations, or print and issue currency. Currently there are about 565 sovereign tribal nations. Two hundred twenty five of these nations are in Alaska, and the other 340 tribes are located the 48 lower states (SFI 1, downsizinggovernment.org) A tribe can only be federally recognized as sovereign three ways, there can be an act passed in congress, they can go through the procedures as stated in Federal Acknowledgement Process (FAP), or their can be a decision in the United States court. It is important to note that even if a tribe is sovereign, the people of the tribe are American citizens. They can vote, hold office, pay taxes, follow laws, and are allowed to serve in the armed forces. Native American tribes are allowed to have casinos on their land thanks to the Supreme Courts decision in the Cabazon vs. California case in 1987. This case came about when California officials threatened to shut down a bingo parlor owned by the Native American tribe Cabazon on their reservation. The supreme court said because California, and many other states at the time, did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Life Changing Day On My Life I have been through a lot of events that have impacted my life dramatically. Something that happened last August changed my outlook on a lot of things. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day started an event that made me appreciate life more, and taught me that even the smallest thing could be a big difference in any outcome. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day was when I found out that my family needed to pack our cars with things such as; clothes, personal items, and other accessories to move to a more safe area. Around nine O clock a.m. was when we got the news that we needed to evacuate the area. We knew that this flood was gonna be nothing to joke about, so we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision to drive to a friends house. Later that day, we showed up to their house with the idea that it was not going to flood the area. The next morning, I woke up to my parents telling me that our house has just been flooded and had gotten around two feet inside the house and I knew that we would not be back in our home for a very long time. Next, everyone in the house was told that we needed to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the inside and of course we would help, considering that they took us in. After all, their neighbors and family members started grabbing bags and filling them with sand to stack in front of the house. Throughout all of the hard work and sweat, we soon came to find out that it was all for nothing. Not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Larry The Cable Guy Analysis Language is a powerful tool that the average person uses on a day to day basis. There are many dialects and accents within each language in the world. Sometimes people manipulate the way they speak in order to achieve a goal. This paper will serve to illustrate a particular dialect that is being manipulated in order to achieve a goal. I chose to analyze the speech of Larry the Cable Guy and will attempt to explain the language bias he employs. Larry the Cable Guy is a famous stand up comedian, actor, voice artist and country music artist. He is best known as a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour where he performs stand up. His real name is Daniel Lawrence Whitney, although he usually is referred to by his stage name. He was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska. His father was raised in a farming and cattle ranching family from Northeast Kansas. As a result, Whitney s father became a pig farmer which is what Whitney was raised around. Then, Whitney moved to Florida in high school where he gravitated towards people similar to his family. This is when he first began to pick up on the Southern American English dialect. He then attended Baptist University of America in Georgia where he majored in drama and speech. He claims to have really picked up on the southern dialect during his first year of college. He credits his roommate for influencing the way he began to speak as he was from Dalton, Georgia and had a thick southern accent. Whitney calls himself a linguist chameleon as a result of always speaking like those that are around him (Graham Bensinger 2017). His ability to speak another dialect well is obvious during his stand up especially. He clearly articulates a Southern American English dialect during his stand up and other various roles. The Southern English dialect is one of the most stigmatized dialects, behind African American Vernacular English. There are many misconceptions about having a southern accent. Those who speak Southern American English often face discrimination as many people few it as an ignorant way to speak. It is theorized that the Southern American English dialect originated in a large part from a mix of immigrants from the British Isles who moved to the American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
