Intelligence Operations of the Offensive and Espionage in...
With the onset of WWI came advancements in several facets of warfare. With new advancements
came new opportunities for schemers to flex their muscles in the world of espionage and offensive
action. This research will focus on the relevant intelligence operations of the offensive and espionage
in naval warfare of WWI. It will concentrate primarily on the German and British naval initiatives, but
will not overlook those of Russia, France, and the United States. Any and all conjectures made
throughout will be made with the consideration of a given party s incentives to misrepresent as well as
the anticipated payoffs ascribed with each initiated action. The First World War produced a vast

However, he had already done so the previous day. The goal of these initiatives was usually to attack
enemy ships and/or submarines. At the beginning of the Great War, the German Empire had warships
dotting the seas. Many of these cruisers were utilized in the attacks on Allied merchant ships and
submarines. The British Royal Navy continually responded by hunting them down. Figure A During
1917 the following successful attacks on enemy submarines by British Submarines have taken palce:

12th D.7 Off N. of Ireland September 12th D.7 Off N. of Ireland However, this was an exercise in
futility, as it became a systematic venture in failing to protect Allied shipments. For instance, the
German detached light cruiser SMS Emden, one of the two Dresden class light cruisers, seized or
destroyed fifteen merchantmen and also sunk a Russian cruiser and a French destroyer at the Battle of
Penang. In response to such hostile actions, Britain instituted a naval blockade on Germany. The
initiative proved affective, cutting off logistical shipments to military and civilian consumers.
However, this blockade violated accepted international law codified by several

Importance Of Plant Pollination
A pollinator is every animal that takes pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators are not only bees
and butterflies as some people may think. When an animal gets pollen from one flower and then keeps
moving and the pollen gets to another flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by
accident. Humans can also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is
smelling the flowers and gets some pollen in his or her shirt; and then when they walk by another
flower of the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is pollination.
Pollinators are important to the ecosystems because they play a very important role in plant
reproduction. If it wasn t for pollinators most plants would not ... Show more content on

Pemberton, 2010).
Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a relatively high extent of
complementary specialisation at the community scale (Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a
downside to selective pollination. So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of
selective pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is the only
species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more effective because if this pollinator
only gets pollen from one species of flower it will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of
cons of selective pollination: mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good
eyesight; while moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the
night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective pollination are that
if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on such pollinator it would put it in
danger. Also if the plant started to attract other pollinators there would be competition and there could
a case in which the first pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start
pollinating another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have to
change the plant it pollinates or

The Is An Acronym Recreational Equipment Inc.
REI is an acronym Recreational Equipment Inc. This is an American retail and free services
corporation that aims at providing fun to the citizens of America at large. It is one of the best service
providers when it comes to hiking, camping, sporting and other traveling equipment.
The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm.
The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy
has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer spending. This
is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are
encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on their outgoings
and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy withstands a lot of
challenges while trying to maintain its position (Mook, Quarter, Armstrong, Whitman, 2015).
Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI
services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some
changes. (Reis et al, 2016)
The global typically has some effects on the whole marketing and retailing strategy of REI, in the
same way as other US firms, are growing their operations into abroad markets. As they do as such, the
financial atmospheres of these business sectors advantage from the flood of money coming

Case Study Of The Iran Nuclear Program
To: Secretary of State
From: Gregory J. Abide
Date: November 27th, 2017
PROBLEM:
The current IAEA inspections to verify compliance of safe nuclear activities under the NPT do not
provide timely enough detection to safeguard against military conversion by countries such as Iran.
SOLUTION:
The United States uses the Iran Deal and its attempted strengthening as the mechanism to modernize
IAEA safeguards for all countries in order to save the NPT.
BACKGROUND:
The issues that have been encountered with the Iran nuclear program are symptoms of a larger
problem when it comes to enrichment, reprocessing, bulk holding of nuclear fuel, and other activities
deemed safe by the IAEA. Due to the inherent danger and dual purpose of current safe ... Show more

Shortly after ratifying its agreement with the IAEA in 1992, North Korea refused requests for IAEA
inspections in 1993 of two sites based upon evidence that North Korea had been cheating on its
commitments and had a small stockpile undeclared plutonium. Following this, the US negotiated the
1994 Agreed Framework with North Korea and the IAEA. Throughout the decade, North Korea s
nuclear program seemed to abide by the program, despite multiple violations of banned ballistic
missile research and testing. North Korea declared its withdrawal from the NPT in 2003 following
allegations of clandestine nuclear research in 2002, and eventually conducted its first successful
nuclear weapons test in 2006.
Iran has pursued what it claims to be a peaceful nuclear program since prior to the Iranian Revolution
of 1979. The Iranian Revolution ended U.S. support for the program, which was further setback by
Iraq bombing the Russian built Bushehr reactors as they were undergoing construction in 1988 1989

China and Russia in continued pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy, which it continued through the
decade.

Argumentative Essay On Mexican Migrant Workers
The phenomenal growth farming, minding, railroad construction, and commercial fishing all have a
story of transnational families and shattered dreams. With the coming of the Mexican Revolution in
1910, many mexicans fled north to the United States in order to escape the bloodshed in search of new
lives. Sadly their dream for a better life did not come true. Migrant workers work for low wages in
extreme conditions such as extreme heat, discomfort, and danger, as well as struggling to have a stable
life for their families. The disastrous great depression left many people unemployed. As a result, a
large number of caucasian people took over many migrant workers jobs in California. This left many
Mexicans and Filipinos desperate and willing to do anything for money. Farm workers were often
unpaid and were denied the right to unionize, a right that all other American workers enjoyed. Migrant
workers are from different ethnicities such as Mexicans, Mexican Americans, Europeans, but most of
the population is made up of Mexican migrant workers. Migrant workers lived a very harsh work
environment as well as a harsh society interactions. Mexican farm workers were offered a legally
binding work contract, but the majority suffered gross abuses of their labor rights and racial
discrimination. Migrant workers have always played a vital role in the US economy, so they should
not be treated as illegal or undeserving individuals. People have always harassed migrant workers and

How Does Shakespeare Present Malvolio In Twelfth Night
Shakespeare presents Malvolio (meaning ill will ) in a way that makes the characters dislike him and
feel entitled to subject him to horrific and embarrassing tricks. Perhaps it is a form of release for the
characters and audience members; Angela Carter states, Comedy is tragedy that happens to other
people. In a way this is true since it is Shakespeare s design to create comedy in Malvolio s
misfortune. This type of treatment in the real world would not be funny as it is taken too far; at first
they only make fun of him but then they start to humiliate and torture him even in context of Twelfth
Night being a comedy. The audience is aware of the tragedy that Malvolio goes through but whether
they choose to go on a moral recess or not is up to them. Some ... Show more content on

This is comical to the audience and Malvolio is not of high class and the Tudor sumptuary laws state
that only upper classes are allowed to wear them. It is hilarious because of how he references the letter
and so blatantly shows off, he completely goes against his character and Puritanism. Olivia s reaction
highlights how odd she finds it and orders, Good Maria, let this fellow be looked to. The use of the
word fellow shows that she pities him as she genuinely thinks he is ill, this is because instead of
calling him what he is, a steward, she merely references his gender to show that she is considering him
as a human. However, Shakespeare makes the situation so that Malvolio does not fully recognise that
he has been tricked and therefore what he cannot understand cannot affect him. He is not aware that
everything is just a joke played at his expense, and therefore feeling sorry for someone who is not
aware that they are meant to be pitied for seems pointless. It may provoke sympathy as the audience
no longer see him as just a Puritan nuisance but as a fellow

North Carolina State University s Environmental...
Introduction During this semester I traveled with the North Carolina State University s Environmental
Technology and Management program ET 201 class, under the direction of Dr. Teresa Litzenberger, to
Little Rock Creek in Raleigh North Carolina. Little Rock Creek is a small stream located in southeast
raleigh near the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. Located in a watershed of approximately 705.879
acres, the creek looks like an upside down uppercase L from a map perspective. The creek floor is
sandy with a few small rocks (cobblestone) in areas. The stream has plenty of tree cover to provide
shade. However, the lack of large trees encourages the curves in the creek to widen which allows the
water to slow down and create pools throughout the creek. According to Title 15A of the North
Carolina Administrative Code, Rule .0302 contains the classifications for waters located within the
Neuse River Basin (15A NCAC 02L .0312). Little Rock Creek, however, is not classified and
therefore follows Rule .0301 which simply states that it should carry the classification of the stream to
which it is a tributary (.
Assessment and Methodology The Rapid Stream Assessment Technique (RSAT) uses data measured
in the field to determine a stream s condition. These data fields include channel stability, channel
scouring or sediment deposition, physical instream habitat, water quality, riparian habitat conditions,
and biological indicators of macroinvertebrates. The RSAT ranking for each

Every foreign nation that participated was eager for the opportunity to showcase their unique culture
and history. The exhibits were set up in such a way as to highlight the artistic and technological
advances each country had made in the last century. These were displayed in The Palaces, carefully
and lavishly constructed show places, complete with immense columns and spired towers. The Palaces
by themselves made up five million square feet of exhibit space. The Agriculture Palace was the
largest of these, alone comprising twenty three acres. Foreigners were also hired as living displays,
providing fairgoers with a rare chance to interact with people from exotic places. People were
enchanted by geishas and so called Islander primitives . The very best sculptors, carpenters, painters,
jewelers, glassblowers and others flocked to Missouri to show off their creations and sell their wares.
The Pike was a primary attraction a mile long presentation of theaters, games, and such adventures as
stalking wild animals through a miniature jungle or strolling the streets of ancient Rome. The
expression coming down to the Pike was coined at the Exposition. Perhaps one of the biggest

Asian Financial Crisis

I. Introduction
For about twenty years, East Asian countries were held up as economic idols. They were hailed as the
ideal models for strong economic growth of developing countries because of their high savings and
investment rates, autocratic political systems, export oriented business, restricted domestic markets,
government capital allocation, and controlled financial systems.
They were even stories about The East Asian Miracle because of the extraordinary growth rates they
achieved and the speed with which they have transformed themselves from poor countries into
industrial powerhouses. Western leaders were impressed by their ability to continue to achieve ...

Thais real estate business boomed, owning property and selling or leasing it for development became
one of the most popular businesses in their country. Rich Thai players entered into collusion with local
and foreign banks, mostly Japanese banks, to loan more money just to keep on building. Because of
overbuilding, they were no longer able to rent out most of their new office and condo space. Prices
dropped due to oversupply, so they couldn t get nearly as much money on what they used to built
those. When the bank loans became due, they couldn t pay. This also became a contributing factor in
the problem faced by Thailand during the Asian currency crisis. They wern t able to weigh whether
investments in buildings are worthwhile, they were reckless and the only thing they though was the
funds they were able to get for building those infrastructures. Their foreign borrowing went to
prestigious projects with no solid economic returns.
Another reason behind the 1997 Asian financial crisis was the large current account deficits. Asian
leaders agreed that large current account deficits could not be good, but they made the logical
economic argument that if a current account deficit mostly reflects higher investment, it would
eventually increase an economy s competitiveness and therefore its ability to repay the debt, and
would certainly be more sustainable than a deficit driven by

hours of the day. The west side of Asbury Park is overlooked by the municipal officials and gets little
attention from other towns. Food insecurity is a growing concern in Asbury as well as other parts of

Film Analysis Of The Cinematic Style Of Tim Burton
Cinematic Style Tim Burton, the successful director, began his wonderful journey through life on
August 25, 1958, in Burbank, California. From his childhood, Burton was nose deep into filmmaking.
At the age of thirteen, this young teenager created a short animated film called The Island of Doctor
Agor. Movie consumed his whole life. He even met his second wife on the set of Ed Wood and Mars
Attack! Afterwards, Burton was the author of amazing films such as Batman, Batman Returns, Ed

Burton s unique style in these three movies is also demonstrated well by lighting. First, there is a
segment in the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when one of the winners, Augustus, falls into
Willy Wonka s chocolate river and then gets sucked up a tube during a low key lighting sequence.
This occurs to be a slightly humorous situation because there are six adults standing on the scene of
the accident, and none of them are doing anything. On the contrary, it was probably an amazing
experience for Augustus because not everyone gets to find themselves in a river full of chocolate.
Next, in another one of Burton s movies, Edward Scissorhands, the main character, Edward, gets low
tempered and rips the curtains and wallpaper in the house while in bottom side lighting. The situation
alerts the audience because of Edward s unsophisticated behavior in the unpleasant position. The man
his already dangerous enough when he is in a good mood. Finally, in The Nightmare Before
Christmas, Jack was walking in the graveyard in low key lighting. It s scary because there s a skeleton
walking on top of dead people in the night on Halloween. It can t get scarier than that! All in all,
Burton s style is evident through his good use of lighting. Music and sound demonstrate Burton s style
through anti visual aspects. For instance, there was diegetic sound when people were clapping outside
of the factory gates when the factory opened in the movie Charlie and

The First Bubonic Plague Pandemic
Journal Article Review
The Initial Years of the Third Bubonic Plague Pandemic I believe that Echenburg was trying to tell us
of how the plague was spread throughout the countries, globally and how it even started. Echenburg
went very in depth in this piece of writing about the initial years of the third bubonic plague pandemic.
I personally thought that this happened just once, but that tells you how much I know. I also thought
that it took place in just one area, which it took place more than one time and more than one country
or continent, but all seven continents. The plague taught the world many new things and new
advancements in our medical world with new vaccinations that do and do not work. The third bubonic
plague pandemic is said to have killed up to 15 million people, with mass of those people were killed
in India, China, and Indonesia. It spread to every continent with a few years. Globally the plague was
a distinctive historical marker in the development of glaring health inequalities, because of the
nationalism in India, The Great Fire in Honolulu, the persistence of anti Asian prejudice in the United
States and Australia, the rise of apartheid in South Africa, and the growth of public health in Brazil.
Echenburg tells us that three things must happen in order for the plague to happen. First of all, there
needs to be many varieties of rodents and small animals like rabbits and such have to be all infected
with fleas. The most effective flea vector is the

Essay About Electoral College
The electoral college is a relic from days gone by, and like those days, it s time for it to retire. The
college, in all it s promotes the blatant distrust of the will of the majority, has a sub par backup plan in
the event of an electoral tie, and violates political equality.
The Electoral College s plan in the event of an electoral tie is an inherently flawed one, and instead of
simpler alternatives such as simply using the direct vote, it goes to the House of Representatives. The
problem with this plan of action is the very fact that it goes to the House of Representatives, and that
each state casts exactly one ballot. In his article, The Indefensible Electoral College , Bradford Plumer
shows that in the event of a tie The single representative from Wyoming, representing 500,000 voters,
would have as much say as the 55 representatives from California, who represent 35 million voters .

The final fundamental problem with the Electoral College is its violations of political equality. In his
article Why the Electoral College Is Bad For America for the Yale University Press (YUP), George C.
Edwards goes on to illustrate how fundamentally non neutral a counting device the electoral college
is. For example, if one were to win 12 states, and the District of Columbia, with the fewest electoral
votes, you would be handed 44 votes. On the other hand, if you were to win the state of Illinois, a state
endowed with 20 electoral votes, and a population as of 2004 of 12,830,632, you would still not have
as much as you would ve if you had won those twelve state. The major problem in this system is that
combined those areas have 329,910 less people then Illinois, illustrating that in the convoluted and
complex system that is the college, size of population is by no means a guarantee of a state s
significance in the Electoral

who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us repress or push
our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development, which believe that
from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their life. This theory could
have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s, William H. Masters and his
partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Masters and Johnson deeply investigated the physiological changes a
male and female experience during sex and how long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who strongly
believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms. The following
questions will answer the confusion about sexuality:
What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove the
Human Sexual Response cycle?
Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response?
Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the
physiological changes for all creatures.

Animals and the human sexual response. In the empirical article, What Can Animal Models Tell Us

The Human Sexual Response is a four stage model that has to do with physiological responses of
sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us about human
sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and how sexual
stimulation. Neuroendocrinologist study animals, while Clinicians focus on humans and in this type of

The Pros And Cons Of Violence
Violence is all around us, and sometimes it s right in front of you. The violence in my life is in front of
me. This violence isn t physical, but instead verbal and through social media s. The violence happens
at my lunch table and online like Instagram or texting.
I think violence is wrong and hurtful because it can make people cry or think badly of themselves. I
have seen some of my friends cry, and I do my best to help them and tell them that the person being
rude to them is insecure. The situation was, let s call her X, got mad at my friend and started texting
her long and hateful texts. I do think it s wrong, because when they say I was just upset or I was
joking it can affect the victim s life. They could have taken it serious and hurt themselves. The girl
doing this is extremely rude to others when she does not get her way or misunderstands. Anyone who
tries to stand up to her is shot down. I think that she is rude to others, because I don t think she is very
secure of herself. The verbal violence at my lunch table is towards my group of friends, and has
affected their lives by splitting from our group and becoming distant. It s also affected my life because
of the constant drama and fighting. My best friend has shown me all the hateful texts that X has sent,
and it is truly shocking. Later she X apologized, but she still continues to be set off by the smallest
things. To stop X, I could explain to her what she is doing is wrong and that she needs to stop.

Human Organ Market Essay
Economic Analysis of a Human Organ Market Human organs have been transplanted for many years.
There are currently 123,940 people waiting for an organ in order to get their transplant. Of that vast
number, around 18 people die each day waiting for an organ ( Why Organ, Eye, and Tissue Donation?
n.d.). There has been some issues with human organ transplants whether it is ethical or not. Another
view on transplantation is to create a market for organs. With the increasing number of people in
search for an organ in order to save their life, the demand for human organs is on the rise. As with any
economic and ethical debate there are two viewpoints on this issue. Proponents believe that it will
eliminate the black market of human organ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it is unknown whether the person was a donor, the next of kin could make the decision to
donate the deceased organs (Hansmann, n.d.). This act did not specify if the organs were subject to
sales however. The chairman of the committee involved in drafting the UAGA stated,
... it is possible, of course, that abuses may occur if payment could customarily be demanded, but
every payment is not necessarily unethical... Until the matter of payment becomes a problem of some
dimensions, the matter should be left to the decency of intelligent human beings (Hansmann, n.d.).
The sales of organs remained uncertain until in 1984 when the National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA)
was established. The act established federal monetary support for nonprofit organ attaining
organizations and national organ and transplantation network to assist in matching recipients with
donors. NOTA also made commercial markets for organ transplants a federal crime, and states also
made different statues of their own outlawing sales of organs. As a result, an effort to create a human
organ market would require a repeal of amendment of legislation at both the state and federal levels
(Hansmann, n.d.). The ban of sale from this act was to encourage altruism to benefit others by
becoming a donor instead of being forced to become a donor.
As stated above, it has been a difficult process to make the provisions of transplantation clear and

Essay On Voter ID Laws
Texas Voter ID Laws Voter ID laws are the laws set into place that require a person to show some form
of identification to vote, most of which require PHOTO ID. Senate Bill 14, which requires proof of
Identification; providing criminal penalties and Senate Bill 5, which requires a voter to present proof
of ID; providing a criminal penalty and increasing a criminal penalty are the two bills being
questioned at the time. Senate bill 5 was the revised version of SB 14, which was put into place so that
voters with no photo ID could sign a declaration and still cast their vote. SB 5 was thrown out with
Attorney General Paxton saying our argument is simple that this is a legitimate act of legislature. This
is not discriminatory. In 2011 the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The law that says the types of photo ID election officials can/cannot accept at polls goes against the
Voting Rights Act. More than 600,000 Texans lack the form(s) of photo ID that are required through
SB 14. However, these citizens are able to obtain election ID certificates for free, but only if they can
produce a copy of their birth certificate. Some opponents of Texas law say that there is nothing in SB
14 that is discriminatory, but the judges of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals still chose to reject it. Both
bills were motivated by racism; neither was necessary to preserve voter integrity. Shelby County v.
Holder is relevant to SB 14 in that it weakened federal over state and county elections. Congress
method for determining which jurisdictions are subjected to preclearance, was struck down by the
supreme court in this decision. The federal district court denied preclearance of SB 14. Texas is not
permitted to implement the photo ID law, says Andrade from Texas Secretary of State. This started the
suppression of minority voting rights, however a federal court is able to make a state submit its voting
laws to the District of Judges for approval for up to 10 years if the state was intentionally engaging in
race based voter suppression. If Texas is put under preclearance, the state will have to prove/show the
federal government that its election laws are not discriminatory against minorities for the next 10
years.

Morals And Ideas Of Characters In The Great Gatsby
The morals and ethics of the characters in the Great Gatsby are twisted.Their ideas of morals and
ethics are very selfish and apply to their wants and needs. Fitzgerald creates characters that have very
different ways of thinking but, in a way, the same. They all have their own twisted ways of
lying,cheating, and being manipulative.
The ethics and morals of the characters in the Great Gatsby were very weak. For example when Tom
found out daisy was having an affair he was very hypocritical towards her even though he was having
an affair with myrtle.People who have good ethics and morals first off don t cheat or have affairs
behind their significant others back. Then when tom gets mad and hypocritical about the situation it
gos to show just how untruthful he is and how he can t own up to what he s doing as well. When Tom
has is other mistress calling the house it shows he has no respect for Daisy, that he only cares about
himself.A person with strong ethics and morals has respects for others and shows that respect for them
whether they are with them or not.Tom is doing things behind Daisy s back and even treating her like
garbage to her face and people notice that.
The characters in the Great Gatsby really don t have ethics and morals. There constantly
lying, cheating, or doing something to hurt on another, it s very dramatic .Tom cheats on Daisy,Jordans
a liar,Gatsby lies about his life, etc.If they really did have ethics and morals they wouldn t be getting

The Bus, A Modern Panacea
Have you ever considered taking the buses, not the car, to your destination? According to his essay
The Bus, a Modern Panacea, Lester Detroit states that the VTA system offers a fundamental solution
for not only the SJSU student but includes most people who commutes to school or work. He claims
that cars have the negative side effects for the environment problems; furthermore, cars are the
problem of both traffic congestion and wasting time and money. He insists that students should drop
their car culture and create a new bus culture. Bus is the cure all solution for students. As for students,
I strongly disagree with Detroit s point of view that VTA system is a suitable transportation for
students to commute. It is important for students to realize that not a lot of people know how to transit,
taking the bus is inconvenient, safety concern, and pollution.
There are buses everywhere around people, but how many of them actually know how to use transit?
In the survey report SJSU Transportation Solutions Fall 2012 Student Commute Survey Report, the
author Eyedin Zonobi points out statistics that 5.2% of students are either doesn t know about the
transit options or how to use transit. It has difficult time for students to transit when they don t know
how. For students, they need to go online and do the research, but is it wasting their time? They no
longer need to waste the time to Google map, if they have a car.
Taking the bus can be inconvenient because its

The Importance Of Social Identity Theory
Humans are predominantly social creatures. We form friend groups and families. We join social
networks and professional networks. We group into religions, nationalities, and political parties. In
extreme cases, we even abuse others (Zimbardo, 1973) and conform to false conclusions (Asch, 1952)
in order to maintain group membership. In other words, our group memberships influence our
behavior every day even in ways that we do not perceive consciously (Baumeister Leary, 1995; Haidt,
2003). Social Identity Theory and Self Categorization Theory Political behavior always involves
social groups, whether these take the form of concrete networks and gatherings of individuals such as
pressure groups, demonstrations, governments, cadres or committees, or whether they are constituted
as large scale institutions or imagined communities (Anderson, 1991) such as political parties during
the 2016 presidential complain. When social groups are central to politics, then the psychology of the
groups should be relevant to our understanding of political psychology. Social Identity Theory and
Self Categorization Theory does represent a major theoretical attempts to clarify the social
psychological processes associated with group membership and action. This should lead to a good
position with the group as well as contributions and understanding...thus people conform to their
group. Social Identity Theory (SIT) developed from Tajfel s work on intergroup processes which
focused on the of conflict

Essay on The Nature and Role of the Ocean in the Medieval...
The ocean in medieval times was a thing of great mystery to the ordinary medieval peasant. However
to the explorers, the church and the educated the sea was a dangerous place. The ocean began to
fascinate people in the time of the early Greeks. The Titans ruled the earth in the beginning, and
Oceanus, son of Uranus and Gaea was one of them. In him [Oceanus] Homer salutes the essence of all
things, even the Gods, and regards him as a divinity whose power was inferior to none but Zeus He
was the father of all the rivers and lakes of the world. But then the Olympians rebelled against the
Titans, Zeus drove Cronus into the western ocean. When Zeus had taken his place as head of the gods,

viewed themselves as white martyrs, leaving their families and friends to do good work for God and
the church. Living in discomfort in little beehive huts sleeping on stone beds on windswept rocky
crags in the ocean, they scraped together a living selling their crafts through an independent agent. The
idea of penance and exile is closely tied up to the idea of white martyrdom, often there were civilians
on the monastery and they were there to repent for their sins. They spent a certain length of time there,
sharing the harsh living conditions of the monks. The monks wanted to test the strength of their
penance. This was a voluntary form of exile and a documented source records another: And three

Radley Character Development
To Kill a Mockingbird Question 1
Even though the first eleven chapters of Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird may seem tedious and
pointless to some, I find them to be charming and compelling because of the character development
that happens during them. The subplot of Boo Radley especially helped to show the development of
the characters. This subplot displayed the personalities of Jem, Scout, and Dill as it progressed. It also
created many events which serve as reference points for the development of these characters
throughout the book, such as when Jem is dared to touch Radley s house and views that as true
courage. In all his life, Jem had never declined a dare. (p. 13) Later on Jem is shown that true courage

You rarely win, but sometimes you do. Mrs. Dubose won, all ninety eight pounds of her. According to
her views, she died beholden to nothing and nobody. She was the bravest person I ever knew. (p. 112)
Another example of character growth during these first eleven chapters is when the Finches go to visit
Aunt Alexandra and Uncle Jack. During the visit Scout has an encounter with her cousin Frances that
ends in a fight. Later when Uncle Jack talks to Scout about why the fight happened she ends up
teaching him a lesson about children. This shows character development in both Scout, as it shows she
is now able to tell her idea and stand up for it rather than just accept someone else s, and in Uncle
Jack, as he now knows how to deal with situation such as this where listening to just one side of a
story can be unfair for others. Well, In the first place you never stopped to gimme a chance to tell you

that pop music tends to produce passive reactions, referring to an insect who has the jitters, who is

active than he believes. For instance, Braca reviews the song by criticizing how social perception
about girls is skewed to the one side ( The One Thing ). More specifically, she first explains how
people have a stereotypical image of girls which is someone who manages appearance in feminine
features. For this reason, people generally imagine feminine outfit rather than causal one when we

The excavation and discovery of Tutankhamun s tomb was as a result of the efforts of the

the burial near the entrance to the tomb Ramses VI. The subsequent excavated of the site by Carter
and his team revealed the greatest ever treasure found from an Egyptian tomb and showed the
existence of Tutankhamun. Carter s methodology for the excavation was that of maintaining records
for each artefact and that every artefact that was brought out of the tomb was preserved appropriately.

Reflection Of The Qri-6 Passage
For lesson 3, we started out by doing the QRI 6 Passage. I first asked him the three concept questions
before reading the passage. For the first question, he just said, I don t know. I feel like he knew what
to say; he just didn t want to answer the question or say what he was thinking. The other two questions
he answered and got the highest score for each of those, so he scored a 6 out of 9, or a 66 and 2/3%.
He then read the passage, Just Like Mom, to me. There were 45 total words in the passage, and he was
able to read all of them correctly. I timed him as he was reading, and it took him 36 seconds to read
the whole thing. Because he didn t have any miscues, his words per minute (WPM) was the same as

He came up with some good answers to put in the diagram, and he wrote it all himself. He used the

Section 2: Child s Literacy Knowledge Looking at the QRI 6 passage, Brakke is a good reader. He
didn t miss any of the words, and for being a first grader, 75 WPM seems decently fast to me. There
were no hesitations when reading the passage either. When I asked him the concept questions, it was
just the first question that he didn t know or didn t want to answer. The question was, What is a Mom?
and he just kept on saying, I don t know. I think maybe he just didn t want to say the wrong thing or
didn t think he had a good enough answer, so he didn t want to say. The other two questions, though,
he answered just fine, so he understood those. After asking him to retell the story to me, he provided
half of the answers listed down, so I can tell that he comprehends and remembers what he reads,
because most of the ones that he did miss were just repeats of saying, Just like Mom, and he only said
that once, which is awesome that he remembered to at least say it one time. He also did a great job
answering the other five questions after reading the passage, which were comprehension questions. He
got all but one of the questions right, and because they were all explicit answers, that shows me that he
remembers what he reads. I

Essay on Medieval Weapons
Medieval Weapons
Medieval society, in spite of its stereotypes, was not inherently more violent than modern society.
Although there was no state in the modern sense, and therefore no set of laws that inherently took
away the power of the average man or woman to exercise violence, the violence of the day was
considered differently, and with out the inherent sense of criminality that accompanies it today. Our
understanding of the weapons of the medieval world is skewed by the vast disarming of the the
civilian that is taken for granted today, yet is a vastly different situation compared to what existed in
many parts of the West as little as seven years ago.

By the fourteenth century, improvements in the range and power of the crossbow had made it an
indispensable tool of war, and arguably the weapon of the cites and the seas. Time and time again in
the Crusades, the crossbow, and not force of the knight in mêlée, proved the decisive factor. However,
although mounted crossbowmen were used extensively in Spain, crossbowmen could not maneuver
quickly while shooting, and this meant that they were vulnerable while used, for example, (by the
Ottomans at Necropolis and the English at Aginour but the archer simply could not hold open ground

Perhaps paradoxically, the cavalry charge became more and more decisive as factors and the
battlefield arose that challenged it. The additional weight of heavier armor that would resist crossbow
bolts and, in northwest Europe, longbow arrows provided additional power for breaking formations. It
was an ongoing spiral of offense and defense as relatively light mail gave way to heavy mail, and then
mail with pieces of plate, and finally to the knight in full suits of plate armor. Just as archers and pole
arm equipped infantry had to adjust to increasingly heavy armor of the knight

Racial Differences In The Millennial Generation
By being surrounded by various races for as long as I remember, it was just natural to adapt to the
situation. I feel that as a generation we are not uncomfortable when we are the only one who is a
different race in a situation. While I was brainstorming where I was going to go for this project, I was
conflicted. I did not understand why being a minority somewhere would make someone
uncomfortable. In today s world, there are examples of all races at the top and at the bottom. That even
though there are racial issues still, the protestors are filled with diversity. As a generation, we are ones
to come together through our views and opinions, rather than our race or ethnic background.
Beforehand, if it was split, it was because of racism. But now that there are examples for everyone, it
is based on our beliefs. According to William Frey, racial diversity will be the most defining and
impactful characteristic of the millennial generation (Frey, 2016). Frey mentions that millennials have
the ability to assimilate, advocate and accept different races and make the transition to a more racially
diverse nation more successful (Frey, 2016).
Tatishe Nteta conducted a discussion where she analyzes the racial attitudes from adolescents in the

The Tell Tale Heart And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
The Themes The Tell Tale Heart and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
One of Washington Irving s short and most famous stories The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has become
a ghoulish characteristic yet an individual might still be unaccustomed with its idiocy (Hoffman, 425).
Based on the real legend of Ichabod Crane, the story reveals how he disappeared. For that reason, the
story revolves around the themes of wealth, appearances, truth, warfare, supernatural, gluttony and
greed. On the other hand, The Tell Tale Heart is a short story that has been written by Edgar Allen Poe.

Unlike The Tell Tale Heart , The Legend of Sleepy Hollow plot is built around the main theme of
superstition. Ichabod tends to be horrified and terrified with the Headless horseman stories. Irving
depicts a strong, controversial understanding between the supernatural superstitions the townspeople
believed and the natural Sleepy Hollow setting (Hoffman, 425). Despite the story describing in details
the natural setting such as trees and birds of the area, there is also a vibrant understanding of
privileging supernatural ideas. For instance, Irving believes that it is simply Brom Bones in disguise
when finally, the headless horseman appeared.
In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , Washington Irving prominently illustrates the power of
imagination. Ichabod being rather foolish and comedic protagonist explains the strength of his
thoughts, despite that this leads him to his downfall. In spite of the fact that Ichabod s main pleasure is
to either hear or read stories about demons, ghosts, and witches; however, since he has powerful
imagination making him believe that almost everything is supernatural. His creative ability in its
fantasizing capacity does, in any case, truly influence his life in that it fortifies his barrenness. Ichabod

  • 2. Intelligence Operations of the Offensive and Espionage in... With the onset of WWI came advancements in several facets of warfare. With new advancements came new opportunities for schemers to flex their muscles in the world of espionage and offensive action. This research will focus on the relevant intelligence operations of the offensive and espionage in naval warfare of WWI. It will concentrate primarily on the German and British naval initiatives, but will not overlook those of Russia, France, and the United States. Any and all conjectures made throughout will be made with the consideration of a given party s incentives to misrepresent as well as the anticipated payoffs ascribed with each initiated action. The First World War produced a vast increase in the flow of diplomatic as well as military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, he had already done so the previous day. The goal of these initiatives was usually to attack enemy ships and/or submarines. At the beginning of the Great War, the German Empire had warships dotting the seas. Many of these cruisers were utilized in the attacks on Allied merchant ships and submarines. The British Royal Navy continually responded by hunting them down. Figure A During 1917 the following successful attacks on enemy submarines by British Submarines have taken palce: March 9th G.13 North on Mukle Flugga April 5th C.7 Off Schouwen Bank (Flanders Flotilla) May 12th D.7 Off N. of Ireland September 12th D.7 Off N. of Ireland However, this was an exercise in futility, as it became a systematic venture in failing to protect Allied shipments. For instance, the German detached light cruiser SMS Emden, one of the two Dresden class light cruisers, seized or destroyed fifteen merchantmen and also sunk a Russian cruiser and a French destroyer at the Battle of Penang. In response to such hostile actions, Britain instituted a naval blockade on Germany. The initiative proved affective, cutting off logistical shipments to military and civilian consumers. However, this blockade violated accepted international law codified by several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Importance Of Plant Pollination A pollinator is every animal that takes pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators are not only bees and butterflies as some people may think. When an animal gets pollen from one flower and then keeps moving and the pollen gets to another flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by accident. Humans can also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is smelling the flowers and gets some pollen in his or her shirt; and then when they walk by another flower of the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is pollination. Pollinators are important to the ecosystems because they play a very important role in plant reproduction. If it wasn t for pollinators most plants would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pemberton, 2010). Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a relatively high extent of complementary specialisation at the community scale (Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a downside to selective pollination. So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of selective pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is the only species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more effective because if this pollinator only gets pollen from one species of flower it will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of cons of selective pollination: mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good eyesight; while moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective pollination are that if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on such pollinator it would put it in danger. Also if the plant started to attract other pollinators there would be competition and there could a case in which the first pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start pollinating another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have to change the plant it pollinates or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an American retail and free services corporation that aims at providing fun to the citizens of America at large. It is one of the best service providers when it comes to hiking, camping, sporting and other traveling equipment. The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm. The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer spending. This is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on their outgoings and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy withstands a lot of challenges while trying to maintain its position (Mook, Quarter, Armstrong, Whitman, 2015). Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some changes. (Reis et al, 2016) The global typically has some effects on the whole marketing and retailing strategy of REI, in the same way as other US firms, are growing their operations into abroad markets. • 5. Case Study Of The Iran Nuclear Program To: Secretary of State From: Gregory J. Abide Date: November 27th, 2017 PROBLEM: The current IAEA inspections to verify compliance of safe nuclear activities under the NPT do not provide timely enough detection to safeguard against military conversion by countries such as Iran. SOLUTION: The United States uses the Iran Deal and its attempted strengthening as the mechanism to modernize IAEA safeguards for all countries in order to save the NPT. BACKGROUND: The issues that have been encountered with the Iran nuclear program are symptoms of a larger problem when it comes to enrichment, reprocessing, bulk holding of nuclear fuel, and other activities deemed safe by the IAEA. Due to the inherent danger and dual purpose of current safe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly after ratifying its agreement with the IAEA in 1992, North Korea refused requests for IAEA inspections in 1993 of two sites based upon evidence that North Korea had been cheating on its commitments and had a small stockpile undeclared plutonium. Following this, the US negotiated the 1994 Agreed Framework with North Korea and the IAEA. Throughout the decade, North Korea s nuclear program seemed to abide by the program, despite multiple violations of banned ballistic missile research and testing. North Korea declared its withdrawal from the NPT in 2003 following allegations of clandestine nuclear research in 2002, and eventually conducted its first successful nuclear weapons test in 2006. Iran has pursued what it claims to be a peaceful nuclear program since prior to the Iranian Revolution of 1979. The Iranian Revolution ended U.S. support for the program, which was further setback by Iraq bombing the Russian built Bushehr reactors as they were undergoing construction in 1988 1989 during the Iraq Iran War. In the early 1990 s, Iran signed separate nuclear support agreements with China and Russia in continued pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy, which it continued through the decade. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Mexican Migrant Workers The phenomenal growth farming, minding, railroad construction, and commercial fishing all have a story of transnational families and shattered dreams. With the coming of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, many mexicans fled north to the United States in order to escape the bloodshed in search of new lives. Sadly their dream for a better life did not come true. Migrant workers work for low wages in extreme conditions such as extreme heat, discomfort, and danger, as well as struggling to have a stable life for their families. The disastrous great depression left many people unemployed. As a result, a large number of caucasian people took over many migrant workers jobs in California. This left many Mexicans and Filipinos desperate and willing to do anything for money. Farm workers were often unpaid and were denied the right to unionize, a right that all other American workers enjoyed. Migrant workers are from different ethnicities such as Mexicans, Mexican Americans, Europeans, but most of the population is made up of Mexican migrant workers. Migrant workers lived a very harsh work environment as well as a harsh society interactions. Mexican farm workers were offered a legally binding work contract, but the majority suffered gross abuses of their labor rights and racial discrimination. Migrant workers have always played a vital role in the US economy, so they should not be treated as illegal or undeserving individuals. People have always harassed migrant workers and soon it ... • 7. How Does Shakespeare Present Malvolio In Twelfth Night Shakespeare presents Malvolio (meaning ill will ) in a way that makes the characters dislike him and feel entitled to subject him to horrific and embarrassing tricks. Perhaps it is a form of release for the characters and audience members; Angela Carter states, Comedy is tragedy that happens to other people. In a way this is true since it is Shakespeare s design to create comedy in Malvolio s misfortune. This type of treatment in the real world would not be funny as it is taken too far; at first they only make fun of him but then they start to humiliate and torture him even in context of Twelfth Night being a comedy. The audience is aware of the tragedy that Malvolio goes through but whether they choose to go on a moral recess or not is up to them. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is comical to the audience and Malvolio is not of high class and the Tudor sumptuary laws state that only upper classes are allowed to wear them. It is hilarious because of how he references the letter and so blatantly shows off, he completely goes against his character and Puritanism. Olivia s reaction highlights how odd she finds it and orders, Good Maria, let this fellow be looked to. The use of the word fellow shows that she pities him as she genuinely thinks he is ill, this is because instead of calling him what he is, a steward, she merely references his gender to show that she is considering him as a human. However, Shakespeare makes the situation so that Malvolio does not fully recognise that he has been tricked and therefore what he cannot understand cannot affect him. He is not aware that everything is just a joke played at his expense, and therefore feeling sorry for someone who is not aware that they are meant to be pitied for seems pointless. It may provoke sympathy as the audience no longer see him as just a Puritan nuisance but as a fellow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. North Carolina State University s Environmental... Introduction During this semester I traveled with the North Carolina State University s Environmental Technology and Management program ET 201 class, under the direction of Dr. Teresa Litzenberger, to Little Rock Creek in Raleigh North Carolina. Little Rock Creek is a small stream located in southeast raleigh near the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. Located in a watershed of approximately 705.879 acres, the creek looks like an upside down uppercase L from a map perspective. The creek floor is sandy with a few small rocks (cobblestone) in areas. The stream has plenty of tree cover to provide shade. However, the lack of large trees encourages the curves in the creek to widen which allows the water to slow down and create pools throughout the creek. According to Title 15A of the North Carolina Administrative Code, Rule .0302 contains the classifications for waters located within the Neuse River Basin (15A NCAC 02L .0312). Little Rock Creek, however, is not classified and therefore follows Rule .0301 which simply states that it should carry the classification of the stream to which it is a tributary (. Assessment and Methodology The Rapid Stream Assessment Technique (RSAT) uses data measured in the field to determine a stream s condition. These data fields include channel stability, channel scouring or sediment deposition, physical instream habitat, water quality, riparian habitat conditions, and biological indicators of macroinvertebrates. The RSAT ranking for each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spoken by David Francis Rowland, this declaration was heard in countries thousands of miles away, beckoning the brightest minds and the newest innovations from across the world to come to St. Louis for the 1904 World s Fair. The fair brought together forty three of the (then) forty five states, as well as fifty foreign countries, to showcase the most recent advances in technology, foreign policy, the arts, and more that had been made since the Louisiana Purchase one hundred years ago. Every foreign nation that participated was eager for the opportunity to showcase their unique culture and history. The exhibits were set up in such a way as to highlight the artistic and technological advances each country had made in the last century. These were displayed in The Palaces, carefully and lavishly constructed show places, complete with immense columns and spired towers. The Palaces by themselves made up five million square feet of exhibit space. The Agriculture Palace was the largest of these, alone comprising twenty three acres. Foreigners were also hired as living displays, providing fairgoers with a rare chance to interact with people from exotic places. People were enchanted by geishas and so called Islander primitives . The very best sculptors, carpenters, painters, jewelers, glassblowers and others flocked to Missouri to show off their creations and sell their wares. The Pike was a primary attraction a mile long presentation of theaters, games, and such adventures as stalking wild animals through a miniature jungle or strolling the streets of ancient Rome. The expression coming down to the Pike was coined at the Exposition. Perhaps one of the biggest attractors was that St. Louis was chosen to host the 1904 Olympic games. This was the first time that the Olympics had been held in America since the revival of the event in 1896. Back then, it did not draw nearly so big a crowd as it would ... • 10. 1997 Asian Financial Crisis 1997 Asian Financial Crisis Angelica M. Montefalcon 4FM2 I. Introduction For about twenty years, East Asian countries were held up as economic idols. They were hailed as the ideal models for strong economic growth of developing countries because of their high savings and investment rates, autocratic political systems, export oriented business, restricted domestic markets, government capital allocation, and controlled financial systems. They were even stories about The East Asian Miracle because of the extraordinary growth rates they achieved and the speed with which they have transformed themselves from poor countries into industrial powerhouses. Thais real estate business boomed, owning property and selling or leasing it for development became one of the most popular businesses in their country. Rich Thai players entered into collusion with local and foreign banks, mostly Japanese banks, to loan more money just to keep on building. Because of overbuilding, they were no longer able to rent out most of their new office and condo space. Prices dropped due to oversupply, so they couldn t get nearly as much money on what they used to built those. When the bank loans became due, they couldn t pay. This also became a contributing factor in the problem faced by Thailand during the Asian currency crisis. They wern t able to weigh whether investments in buildings are worthwhile, they were reckless and the only thing they though was the funds they were able to get for building those infrastructures. Their foreign borrowing went to prestigious projects with no solid economic returns. Another reason behind the 1997 Asian financial crisis was the large current account deficits. Asian leaders agreed that large current account deficits could not be good, but they made the logical economic argument that if a current account deficit mostly reflects higher investment, it would eventually increase an economy s competitiveness and therefore its ability to repay the debt, and would certainly be more sustainable than a deficit driven by ... Afterwards, Burton was the author of amazing films such as Batman, Batman Returns, Ed Wood, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Burton s unique style in these three movies is also demonstrated well by lighting. First, there is a segment in the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when one of the winners, Augustus, falls into Willy Wonka s chocolate river and then gets sucked up a tube during a low key lighting sequence. This occurs to be a slightly humorous situation because there are six adults standing on the scene of the accident, and none of them are doing anything. On the contrary, it was probably an amazing experience for Augustus because not everyone gets to find themselves in a river full of chocolate. Next, in another one of Burton s movies, Edward Scissorhands, the main character, Edward, gets low tempered and rips the curtains and wallpaper in the house while in bottom side lighting. The situation alerts the audience because of Edward s unsophisticated behavior in the unpleasant position. The man his already dangerous enough when he is in a good mood. Finally, in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack was walking in the graveyard in low key lighting. It s scary because there s a skeleton walking on top of dead people in the night on Halloween. It can t get scarier than that! All in all, Burton s style is evident through his good use of lighting. Music and sound demonstrate Burton s style through anti visual aspects. The First Bubonic Plague Pandemic Journal Article Review The Initial Years of the Third Bubonic Plague Pandemic I believe that Echenburg was trying to tell us of how the plague was spread throughout the countries, globally and how it even started. Echenburg went very in depth in this piece of writing about the initial years of the third bubonic plague pandemic. I personally thought that this happened just once, but that tells you how much I know. I also thought that it took place in just one area, which it took place more than one time and more than one country or continent, but all seven continents. The plague taught the world many new things and new advancements in our medical world with new vaccinations that do and do not work. The third bubonic plague pandemic is said to have killed up to 15 million people, with mass of those people were killed in India, China, and Indonesia. It spread to every continent with a few years. Globally the plague was a distinctive historical marker in the development of glaring health inequalities, because of the nationalism in India, The Great Fire in Honolulu, the persistence of anti Asian prejudice in the United States and Australia, the rise of apartheid in South Africa, and the growth of public health in Brazil. Echenburg tells us that three things must happen in order for the plague to happen. First of all, there needs to be many varieties of rodents and small animals like rabbits and such have to be all infected with fleas. The most effective flea vector is the ... The college, in all it s promotes the blatant distrust of the will of the majority, has a sub par backup plan in the event of an electoral tie, and violates political equality. The Electoral College s plan in the event of an electoral tie is an inherently flawed one, and instead of simpler alternatives such as simply using the direct vote, it goes to the House of Representatives. The problem with this plan of action is the very fact that it goes to the House of Representatives, and that each state casts exactly one ballot. In his article, The Indefensible Electoral College , Bradford Plumer shows that in the event of a tie The single representative from Wyoming, representing 500,000 voters, would have as much say as the 55 representatives from California, who represent 35 million voters . We group into religions, nationalities, and political parties. In extreme cases, we even abuse others (Zimbardo, 1973) and conform to false conclusions (Asch, 1952) in order to maintain group membership. Adorno argues that pop music tends to produce passive reactions, referring to an insect who has the jitters, who is passively by light ( On Popular Music 45). But, in reality, audiences reactions to pop songs are more active than he believes. For instance, Braca reviews the song by criticizing how social perception about girls is skewed to the one side ( The One Thing ). More specifically, she first explains how people have a stereotypical image of girls which is someone who manages appearance in feminine features. For this reason, people generally imagine feminine outfit rather than causal one when we think of girl image. In this view, one girl is better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Reflection Of The Qri-6 Passage For lesson 3, we started out by doing the QRI 6 Passage. I first asked him the three concept questions before reading the passage. For the first question, he just said, I don t know. I feel like he knew what to say; he just didn t want to answer the question or say what he was thinking. The other two questions he answered and got the highest score for each of those, so he scored a 6 out of 9, or a 66 and 2/3%. He then read the passage, Just Like Mom, to me. There were 45 total words in the passage, and he was able to read all of them correctly. I timed him as he was reading, and it took him 36 seconds to read the whole thing. Because he didn t have any miscues, his words per minute (WPM) was the same as his words correct per minute (WCPM), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came up with some good answers to put in the diagram, and he wrote it all himself. He used the book to help him spell the words out, but he had excellent penmanship and never wrote any of his letters backwards. Section 2: Child s Literacy Knowledge Looking at the QRI 6 passage, Brakke is a good reader. He didn t miss any of the words, and for being a first grader, 75 WPM seems decently fast to me. There were no hesitations when reading the passage either. When I asked him the concept questions, it was just the first question that he didn t know or didn t want to answer. The question was, What is a Mom? and he just kept on saying, I don t know. I think maybe he just didn t want to say the wrong thing or didn t think he had a good enough answer, so he didn t want to say. The other two questions, though, he answered just fine, so he understood those. After asking him to retell the story to me, he provided half of the answers listed down, so I can tell that he comprehends and remembers what he reads, because most of the ones that he did miss were just repeats of saying, Just like Mom, and he only said that once, which is awesome that he remembered to at least say it one time. He also did a great job answering the other five questions after reading the passage, which were comprehension questions. He got all but one of the questions right, and because they were all explicit answers, that shows me that he remembers what he reads. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Essay on Medieval Weapons Medieval Weapons Medieval society, in spite of its stereotypes, was not inherently more violent than modern society. Although there was no state in the modern sense, and therefore no set of laws that inherently took away the power of the average man or woman to exercise violence, the violence of the day was considered differently, and with out the inherent sense of criminality that accompanies it today. Our understanding of the weapons of the medieval world is skewed by the vast disarming of the the civilian that is taken for granted today, yet is a vastly different situation compared to what existed in many parts of the West as little as seven years ago. Medieval weapons and armor are, for better or for worse, generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the fourteenth century, improvements in the range and power of the crossbow had made it an indispensable tool of war, and arguably the weapon of the cites and the seas. Time and time again in the Crusades, the crossbow, and not force of the knight in mêlée, proved the decisive factor. However, although mounted crossbowmen were used extensively in Spain, crossbowmen could not maneuver quickly while shooting, and this meant that they were vulnerable while used, for example, (by the Ottomans at Necropolis and the English at Aginour but the archer simply could not hold open ground against a well performed cavalry charge. Perhaps paradoxically, the cavalry charge became more and more decisive as factors and the battlefield arose that challenged it. The additional weight of heavier armor that would resist crossbow bolts and, in northwest Europe, longbow arrows provided additional power for breaking formations. It was an ongoing spiral of offense and defense as relatively light mail gave way to heavy mail, and then mail with pieces of plate, and finally to the knight in full suits of plate armor. Just as archers and pole arm equipped infantry had to adjust to increasingly heavy armor of the knight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Racial Differences In The Millennial Generation By being surrounded by various races for as long as I remember, it was just natural to adapt to the situation. I feel that as a generation we are not uncomfortable when we are the only one who is a different race in a situation. While I was brainstorming where I was going to go for this project, I was conflicted. I did not understand why being a minority somewhere would make someone uncomfortable. In today s world, there are examples of all races at the top and at the bottom. That even though there are racial issues still, the protestors are filled with diversity. As a generation, we are ones to come together through our views and opinions, rather than our race or ethnic background. Beforehand, if it was split, it was because of racism. But now that there are examples for everyone, it is based on our beliefs. According to William Frey, racial diversity will be the most defining and impactful characteristic of the millennial generation (Frey, 2016). Frey mentions that millennials have the ability to assimilate, advocate and accept different races and make the transition to a more racially diverse nation more successful (Frey, 2016). Tatishe Nteta conducted a discussion where she analyzes the racial attitudes from adolescents in the 21st century compared to the racial attitudes from older generations. She found that as time went on, the norm of racial equality was more widespread and that racial relations were not as contentious as compared to earlier eras (Nteta, ... Ichabod tends to be horrified and terrified with the Headless horseman stories. Irving depicts a strong, controversial understanding between the supernatural superstitions the townspeople believed and the natural Sleepy Hollow setting (Hoffman, 425). Despite the story describing in details the natural setting such as trees and birds of the area, there is also a vibrant understanding of privileging supernatural ideas. For instance, Irving believes that it is simply Brom Bones in disguise when finally, the headless horseman appeared. In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , Washington Irving prominently illustrates the power of imagination. Ichabod being rather foolish and comedic protagonist explains the strength of his thoughts, despite that this leads him to his downfall.
