Canadian Revolution
March 11, 1848 was the day when colonies across Canada united and established responsible
government. Some may go even further as to call it our independence day the day real democracy
began (Martin).
Throughout history, our world has constantly been bruised and battered by civil turmoil. Today, the
civil war in Syria decimates the country; the Israeli and Palestinian conflict rages on; tens of
thousands of people have been killed in South Sudan s ongoing civil war. It is not always easy to
isolate what exactly ignites the flames of war, but, whenever possible, finding a workable, calm and
satisfying solution to a potential uprising is preferable.
The jewel of cooperation and consensus in search of peace, one that shone in Canada in the ... Show

John A. Macdonald may be recognized as our first national leader, but these Lafontaine and Baldwin
laid the foundations for the nation s existence. In fact, Lafontaine and Baldwin brought forth a new
system, not just for Canada, but for the rest of the world as Responsible Government would eventually
spread over the globe throughout the 20th century. This completely new political system, never seen
before in the world, was eventually adopted by countries such as Australia and New Zealand (Jansen).
And the means by which it was attained, focused on restraint and peaceful resolution of conflict,
paved the way for great leaders such as Gandhi and Mandela (Saul, 201). Through Louis Hippolyte
Lafontaine and Robert Baldwin, the achievement of responsible government marked our initial
transition from decades of autocracy to ultimately full democracy. And this watershed in Canada s
evolution was only made possible by the most remarkable political partnership in Canadian

What Temporal Analysis of Contribution Pattern says about...
In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the
future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and
open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an
increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from
2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. This increase in popularity is also evident from the
increase in issue count reported for the project. The insights present in the study brings out the trends
in popular project, however due to limited space availability we do not bring out the contrast by
comparison with projects that heads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that
matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals
where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in
FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in
project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing
popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and
slowly dies out.
In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving
the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three
months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation
even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of
participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision
makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and
objective manner.
Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of
project by examining contributor participation patterns. We present study on trends of participation,
however inclusion of factors

Social Responsibility Of A Business
Introduction Cohen wrote extensively on the work of Drucker especially in the areas of business and
nonprofit management. However, Cohen s article on social responsibility drew a lot attention from
other scholars like Friedman. In view of this, this paper will discuss and define the concept of social
responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society; how the perspectives align with
that of Drucker; comparing Cohen s opinion with that of Friedman and finally determines which of the
two individual s opinion best aligns with the current business climate promoting a green environment.
Concept of social responsibility According to Cohen (2009), the concept of social responsibility entail
that every organization must assume the full responsibility for its impact on employees, the
environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches (p. 31). On the other hand, Murphy
(2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a person, situation
or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003) revealed that the concept
of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities
in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors and comply with the law (p. 36).
This means that the society will look for major organizations where profits and nonprofit could be
derived to take care of some of the ills in the society.

Defining Moments In My Life
Having defining moments, critical choices and pivotal people in your life is very important. Its
something to base your life off of, having these key parts in your history is what built you to who you
are today. It builds character and helps you learn the right and wrongs in life. I believe without having
defining moments, critical choices and pivotal people in your life whether they are something as small
as a coach teaching you a new play to maneuver, or a bumper on bumper car crash that sent you to the
hospital for stitches can look small but have a deep impact on your life. Using these incidences to

Persuasive Essay Mining
MINING
Mining is the procedure of retrieving coal or other minerals from a mine. This issue has many reasons
why we should and should not ban mining. We should not ban the retrieval of coal and minerals as it
provides most of the products and items we need in our everyday lives, also, mining is an essential in
the development of bigger and better cities. However, we should ban this due to the fact that it is
harming the environment everyday due to pollution, deforestation, etc.
First of all, we should not ban mining as it is one of the most substantial factors in producing most of
the items and products we have today. Items/products such as, phones, iPads, cameras, clothing, etc.,
would not be around or as available as they are without the help from mining. If ... Show more content

The Existence Of Human Knowledge
Humans go through many events and friends, relatives, and acquaintances tell each other information
about a dear loved one or a dear friend. It is up to each individual to know if the information that have
been told is either true or a rumor. Humans tend to mix up the truth with small lies, in order for the
information to be more entertaining. The reason humans mix up the truth is because they love to be
entertained. Throughout life, it is important for humans to recognize the limitations of human
knowledge because humans have no certain way to know if a human is lying, telling the truth, or
knowing what we know. There are body characteristics we do when humans lie or tell the truth. Even
knowing a human s body moment proves nothing about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having a high reputation does not mean someone is inferior in knowledge than others. In previous
times, a group of people was made to believe that people with high rankings were intelligent. If you
were not intelligent how would you be able to run a government or make wonderful poems? In The
Apology of Socrates Socrates was in search of finding wise people like artisans and politicians to ask
about their opinion about the Delphic Oracle. Socrates discovers politicians believe they are wise, but
in reality, they know nothing. Poets and the craftsmen had wonderful creations, but could not explain
their work with knowledge. Socrates concluded it was not intelligence these men had achieved their
works, but they had inspiration (Plato, Five Dialogues 26 27). It is evident, Socrates proved himself
wrong in believing high ranked people are the wisest. The people with high reputation became who
they are with pure luck and inspiration, which means it does not require knowledge to run a
government or create a masterpiece of art. Providing various information does not signify that an
individual is telling the truth. An individual could be providing information for personal gains. For
example, one may desire to maintain their marvelous dignity, be executed, or want to be where the
attention is. In the short story, In the Grove , there were testimonies and confessions about the crime.
Each person had a different version of the story, for example, the

Definition Essay On Equality
Equality the state or quality of being equal; correspondence in quantity, degree, value, rank, or ability.
Equality is more than a 15 word definition. Equality is knowing someone is different but treating them
the same, equality is knowing someone has muscular dystrophy and treating them like you would any
other person, equality is when you introduce yourself you state the pronouns you go by like he, she, or
they, equality is not assuming that because of someone s gender they like the opposite gender, equality
is seeing a girl s short haircut and not assuming they are a lesbian or transgender. Equality is not 15
words. Equality can be an infinite amount of words if we step out of our comfort zone just a little bit
to experience some of what could be a mass utopia.
Many people do not support some forms of equality because they were grown up into the beliefs their
parents have taught them. So basically This is the truth, don t let anyone tell you different . That s just

Milton Friedman, The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits
In the article, The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Profits, Friedman states that
businessmen believe that they are defending free enterprise when they proclaim that business is not
concerned merely with profit but also with promoting desirable social ends. This social responsibility
is defined as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which is the belief that corporations owe a
greater duty to their communities and stakeholders by having a social conscience. This, among other
things, includes being environmentally responsible, contributing to non profit organizations, and
eliminating discrimination.
Friedman argues that only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because corporations are established to profit and shareholders invest money with expectations of a
greater return, managers cannot be given a directive to be socially responsible without providing
specific criteria of checks and balances to which needs to adhere. Therefore, it is imperative to the
success of a corporation for managers to not act solely but rather to act within the policies of the
shareholders.
What Friedman implies is that shareholders should only be concerned with maximizing profits and not
be obligated to be socially responsible. In that case, the manager would only have one priority, to
maximize profits. However, what if that manager determined that social endeavors is the best option
to maximize profits? This would make the corporation socially responsible while still maintaining
maximum profits. The argument presented by Friedman in this case is that while the manager is
performing as expected by maximizing profits, this type of social responsibility is frequently a cloak
for actions that are justified on other grounds rather than a reason for those actions.
This cloak refers to corporations acting socially responsible but for the sole purpose of making profits
rather than performing such endeavors for the sole purpose of benefiting society. An example would
be a solar company providing free electricity to a campus in exchange for use land to promote

Edgar Allan Poe Symbolism
Poetry Analysis Essay: Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
Alone; Alone is one word that perfectly describes Edgar Allan Poe s devastating life of sorrow; a
never ending depression. This poem is the basic rundown of how loneliness played an important factor
in the life of Poe stating how he was never like the others and how with even joy and happiness,
despair affected him. The poem, Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, has an abundant usage of symbolism and
a unique way of using tone to create the poem that brings his true meaning of a man s life who has
been living in isolation and melancholy.
One poetic element used in this poem is symbolism. Symbolism is used in Alone as a way for Poe to
express his true feelings by using words to create an image or representation of the way he wants his
readers to interpret the poem; using symbolism will generate a time period of Poe s life. The reason
behind this is, because the words chosen, symbolize the ongoing idea of loneliness in the poem. For
example, Poe writes, (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view (Poe 21 22). This is
the representation of how around Poe, there was happiness around him but all Poe saw was great
despair from within due to the great loneliness. Another line in Alone by Poe is, From the thunder and

Freedom In The Nineteenth-Century Essay
Throughout the nineteenth century, following the shift to an industrialized market, there was a desire
to form utopian communities in order to create model societies in the new world. The overarching
viewpoint was freedom and improvement of the self, however, the difference is that the idea of
freedom from the nineteenth century is much different than that of freedom today. Reforms were
based on the idea that true freedom was an internal phenomenon based on self discipline and control.
Freedom in the nineteenth century, was the moral groundwork that provided the virtue of self
possession and control. In addition, that idea behind most of these reforms was religion which formed
the concept that freedom was not having the choice to sin so that one could be free of sin. This lead to
perfectionism, or the belief that individuals and society were capable of unlimited improvement. This
caused reformers to improve their communities, spurring temperance, education reform, and abolition.

having the choice to sin so that one could be free of sin) the temperance movement was started. It ...

In the nineteenth century, there was a growth in compulsory, state funded education. These common
schools were an attempt to give poor students the moral character and body of knowledge to compete

example of how an attempt to bring freedom can actually harm others considering that many parents

If a plea agreement is not reached, the case may go to an Adjudication Hearing (also called Fact
finding. All parties to the case, including the prosecution witnesses and defense witnesses, will be
subpoenaed (summoned) to testify before a Judge. Witnesses may be excluded from the courtroom
until they are finished testifying (Clallam County, 2011). The argument for this rule is to ensure that a
witness is not influenced by the testimony of another witness. If you are a victim, you have the right to
be present throughout the hearing. Since there are no jury trials in juvenile court, the Judge will
determine whether or not the juvenile is innocent or guilty of committing a delinquent act after
hearing the facts of the case. At the Adjudication Hearing, the prosecution and the defense may make
opening statements to the Judge to explain the case. The Juvenile Prosecutor then presents the case
against the juvenile respondent. It is the responsibility of the State to prove beyond a reasonable doubt
that a delinquent act was committed and the juvenile respondent is guilty of committing the act
(Clallam County, 2012). To meet this burden of proof, the Juvenile Prosecutor presents evidence and
calls witnesses to testify. Witnesses are required to testify under oath and may be cross examined by
the juvenile s defense attorney.

Sojourner Truth was born Isabella Baumfree in 1797 as one of 12 children to enslaved parents James

The Sacred Acre Summary
The Sacred Acre is a book about the life of Ed Thomas. Ed was a high school football coach and
teacher in Parkersburg, Iowa. However, he was much more than just a coach or teacher. Ed was
somebody that everybody looked up too and that everybody learned from. He had a way of impacting
every person he met. Ed was one of those people, that everyone wanted to know and those who did
know him, knew how lucky they were. Before I read this book, I knew a little about him and his story.
I had seen various things about him on social media, as well as heard multiple people talk about him
and say things about how inspiring he was. So, I was very intrigued to learn more about him and his
story. Ed arrived in Parkersburg in 1975, and completely changed

Excuses In Everyday Life, By Bernard Roth
Bernard Roth, a Professor at the d. school in California, has an impressively valid outlook as to why
all reasons given are bullshit. Roth provides numerous examples of people who use regularly use
excuses to manage everyday life; however, he also plays the devil s advocate when stating that
excuses may help you in the current situation but will it assist you at all in the long run? In the second
chapter of his book, Roth classifies the use of excuses into several categories; ethically, logically, and
emotionally. Although I understand Roth s beliefs, there are multiple areas I fundamentally disagree
with. Such as, some excuses must be explained no matter what the circumstances were since the
reasoning is important. Roth would rebuttal by saying reasons have no meaning which in turn goes
back to having no excuses. Utilizing an abundance of forms of thinking, is Roth s strategy when
emphasizing his point. He explains to every student the three possible rationalizations for excuses.
Once again, he suggests every excuse is bullshit, and has no place in an individual s life. Excuses
ultimately hamper an individual s ability to reach for his or her dreams. Bernard Roth, author of, The
Achievement Habit, stop wishing, start doing and take control of your life effectively uses Aristotle s
rhetorical triangle in chapter two, his argument contains ethos, pathos, and logos to authenticate the
thought that the reasons are bullshit. Roth s credibility and experience are

The Japanese Informal Rule Over China Between The First...
The high degree of importance of an informal empire to the well being of the formal one is not always
as apparent as people initially think. Informal empires can be compared to an iceberg, which is larger
under the water level and therefore the actual base without which the whole iceberg would go down
(Duus et al., 1989). The case of the Japanese informal rule over China between the First and Second
Sino Japanese Wars is an example of how this type of rule was immensely beneficial to the expansion
of the Japanese empire itself. There are three main things that Japan and the colonies of Japan profited
from: economically important trade and investment on Chinese soil, having great political influence
on the Chinese government in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the creation of the informal empire the Japanese started exporting tons of goods for China s vast
population and importing raw materials and resources which were valuable for the Japanese Empire
and its expansion. They also gained rights over the Manchuria Railways and different cotton mills.
Japan benefitted more from the trade in China that the other foreigners there because of the proximity
of the two so the shipping costs were lower for Japanese manufacturers than for goods shipped from
the West (Duus et al., 1989, p.xiii).
At first, maintaining an informal empire was seen as a better alternative than annexing China, in order
for Japan to avoid paying the high cost of annexation and maintenance and incurring the wrath of the
anti Japanese patriots. Because China and Japan had cultural similarities it was easier for the Chinese
to accept the Japanese presence in their country: it may well be that this greater familiarity with
Chinese culture gave advantages to Japanese enterprises that the Western firms did not enjoy (Duus et
al., 1989, p.9). As the instability had weakened the Chinese government, in 1915 Japan saw that as the
perfect opportunity to impose further demands (The Twenty One Demands), even though they did not
gain much of it and ruined their relationships with the British and the Americans. Therefore, the
Japanese became more and more dependent on China and eventually the Japanese grew

Essay on Indoor Tanning and Cancer
Indoor Tanning and Cancer
Guaranteed brown, beautiful and golden skin in only a few tans! Indoor tanning promises and creates
a beautiful tan in only a few sessions. The result from this tan is dark and clear skin that makes a
person feel and look better. No wonder this craze is so popular. Who wouldn t want to look like they
just came back from the Caribbean with beautiful skin? I mean having tan skin does make a person
look better right? This question is obviously a personal opinion, but this new habit of tanning indoors
has become a growing concern. There are many long term effects to indoor tanning that are harmful to
a person. But most people do not understand this because the short term effects are the most
satisfying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic component in tanning is ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light, whether produced by a tanning
unit or by the sun, contains two components; UVA and UVB. These are the two types of ultraviolet
radiation that are known to negatively effect the skin. UVA has a longer wavelength that causes
photoaging and can produce some melanomas. UVB has a shorter wavelength that also causes
photoaging and has been implicated in skin cancers. Photoaging is the premature aging or deep
wrinkling of skin. Indoor tanning units utilize both forms of light waves to tan a person with a
minimized risk of sunburn. Tanning outdoors does not give you this option because the sun omits
every type of UV rays, so a person is more likely to burn. A person s skin epidermis consists of two
layers: The germinative layer and the horny layer. Another name for the germinative layer is the living
layer. And another name for the horny layer is the dead layer. When exposed to ultraviolet light,
melanocytes in the germinative layer produce melanin that is absorbed by surrounding cells. Melanin
is a dark pigment found in the pigment bearing cells of the skin, and melanocytes are epidermal cells
capable of synthesizing melanin. This creates a protective barrier from ultraviolet light reaching
deeper into the layers of the skin. The pale pink melanin granules are stored in the core of keratin
cells. UVA darkens the melanin,

Christian Apologetics Essay
Apologetics are arguments backed up with evidence to defend Christianity against false accusations
and to strengthen the faith of the faithful. (http://www.bethinking.org/apologetics/an introduction to
christian apologetics, 2011). They also remove obstacles by appealing to intellectual reasoning to non
believers.
The doctrine of Christ s divinity has been challenged, attacked and denied by religious skeptics and
various world religions alike. Apologetics have been used to defend and establish the credibility of the
historic Christian faith. Atheists have been relentless in their attack of the Divinity of The Lord Jesus
Christ. Apologetics are used in these instances to confront false ideas with the truth set forth in
scripture. To be a Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theologians have used the biblical evidence to coin the term hypostatic union to accurately capture
both the fully divine and fully human nature of Jesus joined in one Person. Proof of Christ s divinity is
shown throughout the Bible many times. Malachi 3:1 3, John 1:1, John 8:58, Colossians 1:19,
Hebrews 1:1 5, and Revelation 1:1 are just a few of the prominent passages that authenticate the deity
of Jesus Christ. In the book Fundamentals of the Faith, Peter Kreeft says another tool for properly
utilizing apologetics are creeds. Creeds are a formal statement of Christian beliefs. He also argues that
the creeds specify our destiny as well as the nature of God because God is our destiny. Creeds were
created by the church to objectify the truth as in the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the
Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed speaks about the Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity means that
there is one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Stated

The Increasing Weight Of The Union
The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the
international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of
the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up
with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization
nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature
of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the
characterization of the European power.
To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian
power (CP) was mostly developed by F.Duchêne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on
economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the basis of
Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.Duchêne s definition arguing that the EU s CP «does not
lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of democracy and
development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeeping». 6 In a word, both definitions imply that
CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. As a matter of fact, the civilian
conceptualization of Europe puts the emphasis on negociacion, multilateralism, economic instruments
and diplomacy rather than privileging a

Ernest Hemingway Style Analysis
The Themes and Styles of Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway was regarded as one of the greatest American novelists and short story writers,
winning both the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes. His best known works include The Sun Also Rises, A
Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Old Man and the Sea. He is also famous for his
terse dialogue and understatement. (Frohock 1) His themes tend to be of courage, gender, emotions,
and image. Hemingway s history as a soldier and world traveler is what influenced the plot and
themes of his novels and short stories.
Born on July 21, 1899, Ernest Hemingway grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and served in Italy
during World War I as an ambulance driver for the American Red Cross. During the war Hemingway
was injured on the Austro Italian front and sent to a hospital in Milan. (Young 2) After the war he
worked as a foreign correspondent for the Toronto Star, which allowed him to travel frequently. As a
journalist he made multiple trips to Spain during their civil war and Europe during the Second World
War. Trips like this during his career in journalism ultimately led to his even more successful career in
short story and novel writing. (Young 3)
As stated by Frohock, Hemingway writes in a terse style, meaning that his sentences lack unnecessary
details and he uses only the bare minimum amount of words to convey his message. Terse could be
described as telling a story in the simplest, most straight forward fashion. Another

Technology comes in many forms that range from smart phones to tablets to televisions. Many
households throughout the last decade have changed. Homes now have more technology than ever.

Meier and Musick suggest that the blame does not fall on millennials, but the parents. Parents are held
accountable for several reasons, the first is that parents are the ones who purchase the gadgets and
give permission for them to be used. Parents have the power in this relationship that is why families
must be educated on the pitfalls of technology.
I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, a writer for the magazine, Good House Keeping point that parents
are responsible for children s usage of technology. In Paul s article she cited a study that was reported
by the American Journal of Epidemiology which reported that while half of parents surveyed in a
2010 study said they always or often set limits on screen time, 18 percent of their kids really disagreed
(Paul). This highlights a key discrepancy between parents and children. In the eyes of children parents
do not restrict children enough. This is exactly what Alessondra Villegas, a researcher at Fordham
University, states in her journal. She claims that parents must be able to develop clear rules and that
parents must also be firm with the boundaries that are set forth (Villegas 2 3). In Villegas s research
she found that parents use technology to watch their children. Villegas concluded that, on average,
mothers claim to use the television as a babysitter for at least one hour a day, (6). Her work , which
was published in the New York State Communication Association later goes on to say that television

author creates an image of London city s social status and successfully set the mood of the poem. He
applies various figurative languages to give the feel of the gloomy mood. For example, the word mark

Three Religions and Three Holy Cities
Southwest Asia is home to a variety of cultures as well as religions. It has an significant past with
three major religions: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. It is quite remarkable that Southwest Asia has
been a holy place for all three, and although it causes turmoil it is important to understand the three
religions and their customs. Such information may help us not to judge so quickly or perhaps to grow
in our knowledge about the world. Hopefully this will help everyone to have a wider view of the
world than just the town they reside in or even the country they live in.
Islam Islam is the religion founded from the teachings of the prophet Muhammad. It is often depicted
as a violent and irrational religion by the United States. This is not entirely true and although some of
its customs may seem hostile there is always a reason for them. We must learn to respect the opinions
of everyone and make correct choices for ourselves accordingly. Islam is represented by a crescent

factors interact to cause iron deficiency, there is incidence of iron deficiency in the vulnerable

associated with eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, as well as being an adaptive behavior,
with potential benefits including provision of iron and detoxification of harmful dietary components

Bird (2014) addresses the functions of a family law paralegal. If a client need assistance with family
issues such as divorce, adoption, domestic violence, child abuse or neglect then a paralegal is the
person to contact. As the paralegal, their job is to find out the problem the clients might have by
asking the right questions while keeping the client focused. When dealing with family law aspects, it
is easy for the clients to express their emotions. Paralegal s duties are to call the clients and schedule
appointments to interview with the attorney at a convenient time (Bird, 2014). Some attorney s may
ask the paralegal for a written document of the first conversation to determine the issue involved in the
case. Also, a paralegal deal with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, attorneys work with each other on written request and correspondence, therefore the
paralegal organizes the files so that anyone in the office can easily get what they need. Paralegals draft
court documents as well as keep track of deadlines (Bird, 2014). A paralegal in family law has the
duties to discover individual s life by identifying and documenting paperwork such as income,
expenses, assets, debts, parenting issues, and personal history. The information the paralegal gather s
is used for the attorney to present the case. Another function of a paralegal is the relationship they
build with the courthouse staff allows them to be a step ahead. A good paralegal build relationship
with the judge s secretary and law clerk to help the attorney with the cases. In most cases, the
paralegal can prepare the clients for the assigned judge s disposition, although they are randomly
assigned. The paralegal can schedule emergency hearings, and typically knows which judges are
impatient with emotional manifest and which ones are tolerate (Bird, 2014). Even though a paralegal
is not a lawyer their functions are hands on and they are involved in family law cases from beginning
to end. A paralegal cannot give legal advice such as analyzing facts and advising a client to take
specific course of action based on law. Importantly, legal assistant works aside attorneys to ensure

Why Not To Jump In College
Could you imagine jumping off of a building or a cliff and managing to fly with only a parachute? Just
the thought of that happening screams extreme. The risks an athlete takes, the skills and preparation
needed for just one jump and the process itself is why BASE jumping is considered an extreme sport.
There are many motives as to why an athlete would put themselves in such a bizarre position as to put
their life on the line. Although many others and myself included find these jumps incredibly risky, I
can t judge them and say they are doing life wrong. Instead of going life by the book, we should open
our minds to some ideas that may not be so out of this world as we portray them to be.
BASE jumping goes back a couple decades. Carl Boenish, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Carl hikes the trail and decides where he wants to jump from (Di Giovanni). He asks Rich Picarilli,
but he already has too many commitments, so he moves on to ask Jim Handbury, Kent Lane, Mike
Sherrin and Tom Start (Di Giovanni). They hike up so they get to know the area well. You never want
to go anywhere with Carl Boenish , says Tom Start, he makes you walk up and down the same
sections of the trial over and over as he films this angle, that angle, then another angle . Then, on
August 8, 1978, was the day modern BASE jumping was born (Di Giovanni). On this jump, the first
person to go is Kent Lane. As he jumps off, the rest of the guys look at each other, they knew
something significant had just occurred (Di Giovanni). Five minutes later, Tom Start, Mike Sherrin
and Ken Gosselin follow Lane and it all works out perfectly, while Carl is left behind since he decided
to record the whole thing (Di Giovanni). Later on, Kent says the jump dosed him with such a feeling
of speed and incredible visuals that it made the leap the most memorable in his entire career (Di
Giovanni). Carl also came up with the name BASE jumping that is still used today. He also published
a magazine called BASE Magazine that was used to spread the word on safety (Di Giovanni). In 1984,
Carl Boenish is killed while doing a jump in Norway, however he did live enough to see the sport of
BASE jumping take root (Di

Please provide Skype:
My skype is synapse.pvp.2.
Have you been staff on any other server?:
Yes, I have been staff on a server called HGKits. HGKits was a server that was based on the McPvP s
hunger game kits. I was Mod+ in the end when sadly I had to resign because the owner quit the server
due to the lack of funds at the end. (My IGN on that server was Crummzyy). I have also been

Some people would say that I do not deserve to be staff, and others might say that I do deserve to be
apart of the staff team. If I am going to be completely honest I do not think that I am very different
from The crowd . I want to help the server by become staff and helping players, banning hackers and
doing anything that a player needs (If they have a good reason for me to do it). If you want to choose
someone else that isn t my choice it is all up to you, but I believe I would be a good pick. Why I
should be accepted however is that I am nice to players and will help them with their problems, ban
hackers and overall be a positive player toward people. Again, it is totally the opinion that matters if I
stand out from the crowd, I believe that I am not very different in someways from The crowd but
different in others. I have experience in being a staff member and can screenshare players and know
when people are just flat out cheating, or lying to me about

Essay on Positives of the Law
Positives of the Law
When President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002, he promised that his education
reform would bring hope to children. The law calls for more testing in third to eighth grade each year
in reading and math (Bacon, 2003). Students will be tested to make sure that the schools are
adequately teaching them the information they should know.
In 53% of American schools, which receive direct Federal Government financial support because they
have large numbers of low income students, students can now transfer to another school or receive
free tutoring if their school fails for two years in a row to improve the test scores of its students
(Bacon, 2003).
The plan also ensures that teacher quality will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The President is also trying to make sure parents are more involved. Each state and school district is
required to give parents easy to read, detailed report cards about schools and school districts, telling
them which ones are succeeding and why. Included in the report cards are student achievement data
broken out by race, ethnicity, gender, English language proficiency, migrant status, disability status
and low income status, as well as important information about the professional credentials of teachers
(U.S. Department of Education, 2003). This makes sure that parents are involved in their child s
education and that they are able to make clear decisions on whether or not they want their child at that
specific school.
States are now receiving more funds than ever before for education. An estimate of about $23.7 billion
will be used during this 2003 04 school year. Most of this money is being used to turn around low
performing schools, improve teacher quality and increase options for parents (U.S. Department of
Education, 2003). For the President s Reading First initiative, he has increased funding from $300
million to $900 million to make sure schools are using systematically proven methods of reading
instruction (Bush, 2002).
In particular, New York State will receive $129

D Day And The Effect On Bedford
Kaitlyn Overstreet
Mrs. Trahan
English II
28 October 2015
D Day and the Effect on Bedford, Virginia How can a small county have such a significant loss, and
still recover immediately after and in the future? D Day took a big toll on the population of Bedford,
Virginia on June 6, 1944. The events of D Day still influence this small community today. Germany
invaded northwestern France in 1940; however, the Americans entered the war in December 1942 and
formed an alliance with Britain. Adolf Hitler was aware of the threats of invasion and put Erwin
Rommel in charge of defense operations (History.com). In January of 1944, General Dwight
Eisenhower became commander of Operation Overlord. Since Britain and America were Allies, they
used the alliance to deceive the Germans. They made the Germans think they were attacking Pas de
Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that Norway, as well as
other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many tactics to help with the
deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June 5th was the original day
for the invasion. Unfortunately bad weather caused the attack to be postponed until the next day. On
June 6th, at dawn, the Allied troops invaded Western Europe from the sea. The Allied armies spent
several months preparing for this large amphibious attack. In addition, air attacks were used to keep
German forces from moving troops in to protect the

Explain The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When...
The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When Traveling Or Moving
Electronics are personal items that are essential to bring along when traveling or moving. This is
because they are provide important communication and entertainment functions. However, they are
also an expensive investment that need to be properly protected. Below offers six excellent ways to
protect your electronics while traveling or moving.
Security
Electronic security isn t just about setting strong passwords. Be sure to keep your expensive electronic
items with you while traveling. Do not assume that they will be safe in the hotel room or safe. A
security cable chain lock is an excellent way to protect laptop and other large electronics. Consider
installing an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, plasma TVs should be covered with a blanket, placed in the upright position and given
additional padding. Be sure not to pack smaller electronics with other items. Instead, carefully stack
them on top. Be sure to protect your electronics from hot, cold and damp weather.
Travel Tips
When traveling by plane, keep all electronics stored under your seat. This is because electronics can
be damaged when luggage moves around in the overhead bins during the flight. In addition to this, it
is easy for someone else to take your bag from the overhead bin by mistake or on purpose. When
traveling by car, keep electronics in the trunk on top of other items. Avoid moving electronics back
and forth between the front of the car and trunk. That is, do not advertise when stopped that you are
storing electronics in the trunk.
Consistently
Be sure to keep your electronic items in the same place. This will reduce the likelihood of forgetting
anything. It is quite common during traveling to forget items because you are not following your
normal routine. For example, it is common for people to forget their cellphone at motels or before they
board a plane.

Sports Injuries And Stereotyping
Summer is the perfect time of year for you to get outside and enjoy your favorite sport; but summer
may also be the time of year you re most likely going to need the help of an orthopedic specialist
Frisco TX. Why? Because exercising and playing sports often leads to injuries that require medical
help. Poor training, not stretching or warming up properly, incorrect gear and sometimes just plain bad
luck can lead to sprains, strains, swollen muscles, fractures and dislocations.
Orthopedic Surgeon Frisco TX: Sports Injuries Can Be Acute Or Chronic
Injuries related to sports and exercise can either be acute or chronic. Acute injuries occur suddenly and
symptoms include sudden, severe pain, swelling, a bone or joint visibly out of place, not being able to
place weight on a leg, foot or joint, not being able to move a joint as you normally would, a tender
arm, elbow, wrist, hand or finger and extreme weakness in an arm or leg. Chronic injuries occur over
time and with repetitive movements. The most common symptoms are pain when you play or
exercise, a dull ache when you rest and swelling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some can resolve themselves quickly while others only seem to get worse over time. It s important
that you take the time to treat any sports or exercise related injury instead of just powering through.
You may be able to handle treatment yourself for mild injuries but for moderate to severe injuries, you
must see a doctor. Symptoms to look for include severe pain, swelling or numbness, an injury area that
can t bear any weight, a joint feels unstable, an old injury swells or begins to hurt or

  • 3. Canadian Revolution March 11, 1848 was the day when colonies across Canada united and established responsible government. Some may go even further as to call it our independence day the day real democracy began (Martin). Throughout history, our world has constantly been bruised and battered by civil turmoil. Today, the civil war in Syria decimates the country; the Israeli and Palestinian conflict rages on; tens of thousands of people have been killed in South Sudan s ongoing civil war. It is not always easy to isolate what exactly ignites the flames of war, but, whenever possible, finding a workable, calm and satisfying solution to a potential uprising is preferable. The jewel of cooperation and consensus in search of peace, one that shone in Canada in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John A. Macdonald may be recognized as our first national leader, but these Lafontaine and Baldwin laid the foundations for the nation s existence. In fact, Lafontaine and Baldwin brought forth a new system, not just for Canada, but for the rest of the world as Responsible Government would eventually spread over the globe throughout the 20th century. This completely new political system, never seen before in the world, was eventually adopted by countries such as Australia and New Zealand (Jansen). And the means by which it was attained, focused on restraint and peaceful resolution of conflict, paved the way for great leaders such as Gandhi and Mandela (Saul, 201). Through Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine and Robert Baldwin, the achievement of responsible government marked our initial transition from decades of autocracy to ultimately full democracy. In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from 2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. This increase in popularity is also evident from the increase in issue count reported for the project. The insights present in the study brings out the trends in popular project, however due to limited space availability we do not bring out the contrast by comparison with projects that heads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and slowly dies out. In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and objective manner. Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of project by examining contributor participation patterns. We present study on trends of participation, however inclusion of factors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Social Responsibility Of A Business Introduction Cohen wrote extensively on the work of Drucker especially in the areas of business and nonprofit management. However, Cohen s article on social responsibility drew a lot attention from other scholars like Friedman. In view of this, this paper will discuss and define the concept of social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society; how the perspectives align with that of Drucker; comparing Cohen s opinion with that of Friedman and finally determines which of the two individual s opinion best aligns with the current business climate promoting a green environment. Concept of social responsibility According to Cohen (2009), the concept of social responsibility entail that every organization must assume the full responsibility for its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches (p. 31). On the other hand, Murphy (2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a person, situation or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003) revealed that the concept of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors and comply with the law (p. 36). This means that the society will look for major organizations where profits and nonprofit could be derived to take care of some of the ills in the society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is up to each individual to know if the information that have been told is either true or a rumor. Throughout life, it is important for humans to recognize the limitations of human knowledge because humans have no certain way to know if a human is lying, telling the truth, or knowing what we know. Having a high reputation does not mean someone is inferior in knowledge than others. In previous times, a group of people was made to believe that people with high rankings were intelligent. If you were not intelligent how would you be able to run a government or make wonderful poems? In The Apology of Socrates Socrates was in search of finding wise people like artisans and politicians to ask about their opinion about the Delphic Oracle. Socrates discovers politicians believe they are wise, but in reality, they know nothing. Poets and the craftsmen had wonderful creations, but could not explain their work with knowledge. Socrates concluded it was not intelligence these men had achieved their works, but they had inspiration (Plato, Five Dialogues 26 27). It is evident, Socrates proved himself wrong in believing high ranked people are the wisest. The people with high reputation became who they are with pure luck and inspiration, which means it does not require knowledge to run a government or create a masterpiece of art. Equality is knowing someone is different but treating them the same, equality is knowing someone has muscular dystrophy and treating them like you would any other person, equality is when you introduce yourself you state the pronouns you go by like he, she, or they, equality is not assuming that because of someone s gender they like the opposite gender, equality is seeing a girl s short haircut and not assuming they are a lesbian or transgender. Equality is not 15 words. Equality can be an infinite amount of words if we step out of our comfort zone just a little bit to experience some of what could be a mass utopia. Milton Friedman, The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits In the article, The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Profits, Friedman states that businessmen believe that they are defending free enterprise when they proclaim that business is not concerned merely with profit but also with promoting desirable social ends. This social responsibility is defined as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which is the belief that corporations owe a greater duty to their communities and stakeholders by having a social conscience. This, among other things, includes being environmentally responsible, contributing to non profit organizations, and eliminating discrimination. Friedman argues that only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because corporations are established to profit and shareholders invest money with expectations of a greater return, managers cannot be given a directive to be socially responsible without providing specific criteria of checks and balances to which needs to adhere. Therefore, it is imperative to the success of a corporation for managers to not act solely but rather to act within the policies of the shareholders. What Friedman implies is that shareholders should only be concerned with maximizing profits and not be obligated to be socially responsible. In that case, the manager would only have one priority, to maximize profits. However, what if that manager determined that social endeavors is the best option to maximize profits? This would make the corporation socially responsible while still maintaining maximum profits. The argument presented by Friedman in this case is that while the manager is performing as expected by maximizing profits, this type of social responsibility is frequently a cloak for actions that are justified on other grounds rather than a reason for those actions. This cloak refers to corporations acting socially responsible but for the sole purpose of making profits rather than performing such endeavors for the sole purpose of benefiting society. • 13. Edgar Allan Poe Symbolism Poetry Analysis Essay: Alone by Edgar Allan Poe Alone; Alone is one word that perfectly describes Edgar Allan Poe s devastating life of sorrow; a never ending depression. This poem is the basic rundown of how loneliness played an important factor in the life of Poe stating how he was never like the others and how with even joy and happiness, despair affected him. The poem, Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, has an abundant usage of symbolism and a unique way of using tone to create the poem that brings his true meaning of a man s life who has been living in isolation and melancholy. One poetic element used in this poem is symbolism. Symbolism is used in Alone as a way for Poe to express his true feelings by using words to create an image or representation of the way he wants his readers to interpret the poem; using symbolism will generate a time period of Poe s life. The reason behind this is, because the words chosen, symbolize the ongoing idea of loneliness in the poem. For example, Poe writes, (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view (Poe 21 22). This is the representation of how around Poe, there was happiness around him but all Poe saw was great despair from within due to the great loneliness. • 14. Freedom In The Nineteenth-Century Essay Throughout the nineteenth century, following the shift to an industrialized market, there was a desire to form utopian communities in order to create model societies in the new world. The overarching viewpoint was freedom and improvement of the self, however, the difference is that the idea of freedom from the nineteenth century is much different than that of freedom today. Reforms were based on the idea that true freedom was an internal phenomenon based on self discipline and control. Freedom in the nineteenth century, was the moral groundwork that provided the virtue of self possession and control. In addition, that idea behind most of these reforms was religion which formed the concept that freedom was not having the choice to sin so that one could be free of sin. This lead to perfectionism, or the belief that individuals and society were capable of unlimited improvement. This caused reformers to improve their communities, spurring temperance, education reform, and abolition. All parties to the case, including the prosecution witnesses and defense witnesses, will be subpoenaed (summoned) to testify before a Judge. Witnesses may be excluded from the courtroom until they are finished testifying (Clallam County, 2011). The argument for this rule is to ensure that a witness is not influenced by the testimony of another witness. If you are a victim, you have the right to be present throughout the hearing. Since there are no jury trials in juvenile court, the Judge will determine whether or not the juvenile is innocent or guilty of committing a delinquent act after hearing the facts of the case. At the Adjudication Hearing, the prosecution and the defense may make opening statements to the Judge to explain the case. The Juvenile Prosecutor then presents the case against the juvenile respondent. It is the responsibility of the State to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a delinquent act was committed and the juvenile respondent is guilty of committing the act (Clallam County, 2012). Roth provides numerous examples of people who use regularly use excuses to manage everyday life; however, he also plays the devil s advocate when stating that excuses may help you in the current situation but will it assist you at all in the long run? In the second chapter of his book, Roth classifies the use of excuses into several categories; ethically, logically, and emotionally. Although I understand Roth s beliefs, there are multiple areas I fundamentally disagree with. Such as, some excuses must be explained no matter what the circumstances were since the reasoning is important. Roth would rebuttal by saying reasons have no meaning which in turn goes back to having no excuses. Utilizing an abundance of forms of thinking, is Roth s strategy when emphasizing his point. He explains to every student the three possible rationalizations for excuses. Once again, he suggests every excuse is bullshit, and has no place in an individual s life. Excuses ultimately hamper an individual s ability to reach for his or her dreams. The high degree of importance of an informal empire to the well being of the formal one is not always as apparent as people initially think. Informal empires can be compared to an iceberg, which is larger under the water level and therefore the actual base without which the whole iceberg would go down (Duus et al., 1989). The case of the Japanese informal rule over China between the First and Second Sino Japanese Wars is an example of how this type of rule was immensely beneficial to the expansion of the Japanese empire itself. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the creation of the informal empire the Japanese started exporting tons of goods for China s vast population and importing raw materials and resources which were valuable for the Japanese Empire and its expansion. Japan benefitted more from the trade in China that the other foreigners there because of the proximity of the two so the shipping costs were lower for Japanese manufacturers than for goods shipped from the West (Duus et al., 1989, p.xiii). At first, maintaining an informal empire was seen as a better alternative than annexing China, in order for Japan to avoid paying the high cost of annexation and maintenance and incurring the wrath of the anti Japanese patriots. Because China and Japan had cultural similarities it was easier for the Chinese to accept the Japanese presence in their country: it may well be that this greater familiarity with Chinese culture gave advantages to Japanese enterprises that the Western firms did not enjoy (Duus et al., 1989, p.9). As the instability had weakened the Chinese government, in 1915 Japan saw that as the perfect opportunity to impose further demands (The Twenty One Demands), even though they did not gain much of it and ruined their relationships with the British and the Americans. Ultraviolet light, whether produced by a tanning unit or by the sun, contains two components; UVA and UVB. These are the two types of ultraviolet radiation that are known to negatively effect the skin. UVA has a longer wavelength that causes photoaging and can produce some melanomas. UVB has a shorter wavelength that also causes photoaging and has been implicated in skin cancers. Photoaging is the premature aging or deep wrinkling of skin. Indoor tanning units utilize both forms of light waves to tan a person with a minimized risk of sunburn. Tanning outdoors does not give you this option because the sun omits every type of UV rays, so a person is more likely to burn. A person s skin epidermis consists of two layers: The germinative layer and the horny layer. Another name for the germinative layer is the living layer. And another name for the horny layer is the dead layer. When exposed to ultraviolet light, melanocytes in the germinative layer produce melanin that is absorbed by surrounding cells. Melanin is a dark pigment found in the pigment bearing cells of the skin, and melanocytes are epidermal cells capable of synthesizing melanin. This creates a protective barrier from ultraviolet light reaching deeper into the layers of the skin. The pale pink melanin granules are stored in the core of keratin cells. The Increasing Weight Of The Union The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the characterization of the European power. To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian power (CP) was mostly developed by F.Duchêne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the basis of Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.Duchêne s definition arguing that the EU s CP «does not lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of democracy and development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeeping». 6 In a word, both definitions imply that CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. Parents are held accountable for several reasons, the first is that parents are the ones who purchase the gadgets and give permission for them to be used. I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, a writer for the magazine, Good House Keeping point that parents are responsible for children s usage of technology. In Paul s article she cited a study that was reported by the American Journal of Epidemiology which reported that while half of parents surveyed in a 2010 study said they always or often set limits on screen time, 18 percent of their kids really disagreed (Paul). This highlights a key discrepancy between parents and children. In the eyes of children parents do not restrict children enough. They made the Germans think they were attacking Pas de Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that Norway, as well as other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many tactics to help with the deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June 5th was the original day for the invasion.
