with producing and consuming nations on its outside affiliations.
MAIN BODY
This essay will begin by examining the government of Bhutan and its direction of improving the
economic structure of its country for a sustainable future. Bhutan is a country located on the southern
slopes of the eastern Himalayas. It is a country that is grappling with modernity and development.
Around thirty years ago, Bhutan was completely isolated. With that span of years, the country is now
known too much of the outside world. Recently elected Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, of the
country Bhutan has been a prominent figure of the country. Tobgay believes that acting on issues like
youth employment, corruption, and the national debt is more necessary than focusing solely on the
GHN. Tobgay additionally concentrates on stopping corruption in Bhutan s government, and
interacting with the Bhutanese population. Tshering Tobgay declared that the country is additionally
carbon negative rather than simply carbon neutral. The Royal government of Bhutan is comprised of
10 ministries which work in bringing the goal of Gross National Happiness closer to reality. Gross
National Happiness is a term originated by his majesty the fourth king of Bhutan, Jigme Singye
Wangchuck, within the nineteenth seventies. The idea implies that property

Historical Development Of Fair Value Measurement
Fair value measurement is one of the models which provide guidance on how entities should
determine the fair value of financial instruments for reporting purposes. This paper discusses the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Exposure Draft issued on December 3, 2015 which
proposed amendments to Fair Value Measurement (Topic 820): Disclosure Framework Changes to the
Disclosure Requirements. The paper analyzes some of the key points of the exposure draft, among
other things, the history and development the concept of fair value management, the necessity of the
amendments to the topic, the provisions and conceptual framework of the fair value measurement. The
paper also compares and contrasts the FASB Topic 820 formerly known as to the International
Accounting Standards (ISA) No. 13 of the International Financial Reporting (IFRS). Finally, the paper
concludes on the response to the exposure draft.
Keywords: Fair value measurement, FASB Topic 820, IAS No. 13
Historical development of Fair Value Measurement Fair value measurement has been argued to be one
of the most controversial areas in accounting. Although not a new concept many accounting
professionals have only in the past two decades warmed up to the theory as a means of replacing the
long standing historical cost approach applied to reporting of financial statement. This deviates from
centuries of traditional application of historical cost. It is maintained in literature that fair value

Mike was an intelligent man ever since he was a kid. He read lots of books on science and gained as
much knowledge as possible to understand the functions of science. He took every single math course
and science course in high school to study electrical engineering in university, which displays how
intelligent he is based on the success he achieved. Motivation is another characteristic of Mike
because he was motivated everyday by learning and understanding science. From the start of age 5 to
the career he achieved, science has been in his everyday life. The love he possesses towards science
caused him to create outstanding technological services to the world. Mike was also a critical thinker
as he was an individual who thinks clearly and rationally. The subjects Science and math involve
critical thinking and problem solving. He utilized his knowledge and background information to solve
issues and arrive to solutions. An example can be the development of the Blackberry. The big issue
was that phones did not have many features, and he solved this problem by being a critical thinker.
Dedication is also a key characteristic of Mike Lazaridis because being dedicated means someone who
is committed to their task, and without dedication, Mike would have not been able to spend years of

(WORKING TITLE) Batman s duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in
America is both the problem and solution. As the third installment in the Batman trilogy, a different
tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has
been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains
Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon
delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in
ridding the city s criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic
decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight
introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent s own decline when the
madman kills Dent s lover. This sparked Dent s own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to
preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos, Batman takes the blame for Dent s
transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman.
Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne s parents were
tragically murdered right in front of him when he was young by an armed robber. This was the
moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that killed

The Country Wife is a restoration comedy, which means there is lots of sexual language in it. William
Wycherley is the playwright. In the play, he expressed lots of Comedy of Manners. Nathan did a great
job with expressing the sexual jokes. All the actors and actresses I didn t get a lot of them, but I did for
the most part it was okay put together. The costumes were a major factor in the entire production
success. The costumes chosen for the performance were appropriate, but not well conveyed in a lot of
ways. The idea of them were great, they just were not conveyed as well as I believe they could have
been. When I think of restoration costumes, I imagine large puffy wigs, extensive puffy dresses and

Coastal Erosion
Coastal erosion is known as the natural removal of land and sand caused by changing wave
conditions, coastal erosion is also caused by storm events which creates a massive amount of
destruction to the beach and can put building and infrastructure in potential danger (SES, 2016). Some
of the factors that affect coastal erosion include: strength of waves, weather as well as human activity
can all negatively impact the amount of erosion (A. Jackson, 2016). Beaches are an important part of
the world s ecosystem for they provide homes for many species of animals such as: birds, crabs,
invertebrates, turtle eggs, etc. Beaches also provide services such as sediment storage and transport,
wave dissipation and associated buffering against extreme weather ... Show more content on

Breakwaters are generally made from natural rocks, concrete or the combination of both and run
parallel to the shoreline which a prone to erosion. Breakwaters are meant to take the force of the
waves and therefore the beaches are protected. The pros to installing breakwaters include: the fact they
can control most average waves at full force A well designed floating breakwater can stop waves that
are up to 6 1/2 feet high, while their fixed companions can stop waves up to 10 feet high depending on
their design and the local environment. They also don t interfere with water flow and so wildlife sill
have access to their habitats for the water flow hasn t been affected, they create natural harbors and if
a breakwater does get damaged they are affordable to fix. Though breakwaters have pros they also
have several cons such as: they don t provide protection to harsh storms though it may reduce the
severity of the wave s structures close to beach will still be in harm of being destroyed. They can be
expensive to originally build especially if a fixed breakwater is used over a floating breakwater; they
can cost millions and require expensive experts to install them since wave dynamics can be extremely
complex; they may also cause long term ecological hazards that have not been identified as yet (anon,

Fall Of The Jin Dynasty
Following the fall of the Hans dynasty in 220 C.E., China divided into three separate kingdoms known
as the Three Kingdom Era. Powerful families and warlords who were in a constant battle against each
other led the north, south, and west. In addition to these battles, disease and natural disasters also took
an extensive toll on China. The battles continued for years and then in the year 280 C.E., a general
under the Jin dynasty from the north managed to defeat the south and west for a short time. The Jin
dynasty produced 25 sons who after his death began to battle each other for the power to control the
dynasty. One of the sons made a disastrous mistake when he asked Turkic nomads named Xiongnu to

Many Mongolians were unhappy about the acceptance of the Chinese language and the combination
of the Mongolian language. In addition to the unrest in the north, thousands of wealthy educated
Chinese families fled south. This migration to southern China made this region a cultural mecca.
Southern China did not experience the same fate as northern China but they did have power struggles
during the Age of Disunity. The years 220 589 C.E. was known as the Age of Disunity in which
Nomads were constantly invading China. In the midst of all the turmoil, Buddhism spread throughout
China. During the Hans dynasty, Confucianism was the philosophy. After the fall of the Hans dynasty
and during the Age of Disunity, the people began to gravitate toward Buddhism. Buddhism s promise
of inner peace and relief from life s burdens were an interest to the people of China. In the year 399,
Faxian a Chinese Buddhist monk made a pilgrimage to India and returned to China in 414. He brought
with him Indian Buddhist texts, which he transcribed into Chinese. By 517 Buddhism became the
official religion of southern China. The Sui, Tang and Song dynasties prevailed in China during the
years 589 1279. The years 589 to 618 saw the rule of Yang Jian, general for the Sui Dynasty. Under
this rule, he began construction of the Grand Canal connecting the north waterway to the south. Yang

Designing A Windows Registry Autorun
MSC.BAT was used to initialize the persistent installation of the other two binaries, NTLHAFD.GCP
and NTSVCHOST.EXE, and cleanup the installation. A Windows registry Autorun key was set to
provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher
and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory
load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft
domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the
victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader
would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the
decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the
designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on
disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory.
In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the
malware into believing it was on the internet.
Red October s Second Stage Command and Control and Loaded Modules After successfully
establishing a connection to one of the three hardcoded Command and Control servers built into every
installation of Red October, the backdoor was capable of loading additional modules. Some of these

Thus Spoke Zarathustra Essay
The prophet Zarathustra descended from the mountains after ten years of isolation. He has descended
to teach the masses about the overman, and the belief system that accompanies him. Nietzsche,
through Zarathustra, is offering a new value system to replace Christianity. This value system can be
referred to as Zarathustraism . A vital part to embracing this value system is the deconstruction of
Christianity. Man has redefined Christianity to better suit personal desire, and it has begun to fail as a
result. Zarathustraism will teach Man to live in the light of the Overman, free of the negativity
Christianity caused.

Zarathustra and his company arrive on an island, where Zarathustra encounters a fire dog. (Z II xviii)
On the topic of churches, Zarathustra accuses the fire dog: you surely know your own species best! (Z
II xviii) Fire dogs are symbolic for Christian churches, which are bloated and self centered.
Zarathustraism clearly despises the church for the actions resulted in God s death. The church
demands obedience from its followers, and thus led them astray.
It becomes apparent quickly that Zarathustra has love for Man. Despite this love, he still feels beneath
them. In a town, Zarathustra notices that new, man made structures had become smaller. I pass
through this people and keep my eyes open; they have become smaller, and ever become smaller: the
reason thereof is their doctrine of happiness and virtue (Z III v.ii). Those living in this town do not live
the way Zarathustra has told them to; as a result, Zarathustra literally feels larger than them. Because
he lives in the light of the overman, Zarathustra believes that he is more prominent than a normal
Man. (Z III v.i). Zarathustra s heightened opinion of himself is formed from his dedication to the
overman, as well as his dismissal of God. His relinquishment of God allows him to come closer to the
overman than those who still have faith in Christianity. I am Zarathustra the godless: where do I find
my equal? And all

The Princess Bride By William Goldman
For this assignment, I chose to watch The Princess Bride, a film based on the book written by William
Goldman. The story is of a beautiful maiden named Buttercup. When she hears word of her true love,
Westley s, ship being taken over by the Dread Pirate Roberts in which there were no survivors. Upon
Westley s death, Buttercup reluctantly agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck, who seems to have a plan
of his own. When Westley returns as the Dread Pirate Roberts, he finds Buttercup in grave danger in
the hands of Vizzini, the man we later learn was hired by Humperdinck to kill his bride and frame
Florin s sworn enemy, Guilder. After using his sword fighting skills and strength to outwit Inigo, the
Spanish swordsman, and Fizzik, the giant, he then uses his wit to kill Vizzini, Buttercup s capturer.
Once Buttercup is able to identify Pirate Roberts as Westley, they continue on their journey, only to be
thwarted by Prince Humperdinck, Count Rugen, and their men. Buttercup is then tricked to believe
that they let Westley go free, even though they have him tortured and eventually killed. In need of his
skills and strength, Fizzik and Inigo miraculously save Westley in order to seek revenge on Inigo s
father s killer, Count Rugen. The three of them then break into the castle, Inigo gets his revenge, and
save Buttercup, riding off on four white horses. As in every plot line, there are various conflicts that
occur in this film. Conflict, as we have learned, is a disagreement between

John Milton Cage Jr. Essay
John Milton Cage Jr.
John Cage became famous for his unorthodox theories and very experimental compositions. He was
an American composer born in Los Angeles on September 5, 1912. Neither of his parents went to
college, and John himself dropped out after a mere two years in college. His father earned a living
being an inventor. Cage credits his father, being an inventor, as very influential to the way in which he
wrote music. John also considered himself as an innovator and discoverer in the field of music. John
Cage took traditional classical music and turned it into a futuristic collection of sounds totally
different from what everyone was used to. He has expanded the idea of what sounds constituted

Cage, in 1938, once conquered the challenge of creating percussion instruments for a dance in a
theatre that had no wings or orchestra pit, there was just barely enough room for a small grand piano
built into the front left of the audience. Being so limited on space and not being able to neither find,
nor fit an African twelve tone row, he invented the prepared piano. The prepared piano he created by
adding screws, bolts, rubber, wood and weather striping between the strings of the grand piano. The
piano was transformed into a percussion orchestra, with the loudness of that of a harpsichord. Cage
later went on to earn awards for Sonatas and Interludes which was one of his most important works
for the prepared piano in 1946 to 1948. Cage later went on to say My favorite music is the music that I
haven t yet heard. I don t here the music I write: I write in order to hear the music I have [not] yet
heard. This quote summarizes his philosophy on indeterminacy. This belief led to the creation of 4 33 ,
his recording of the sounds around you. The only thing specified is the length of the piece. It is said
that he used 4.33 minutes which equals 273 seconds. And 273 centigrade = zero degrees where
everything would be completely silent and atoms quite moving. What do you think about this theory?
Later John went on studying Zen Buddhism and the I Ching which is what steered him more so in the
direction of indeterminacy. With this style he would

The Kenyon Commencement Speech By David Foster Wallace
I believe that existence is comprised of hundreds and millions of different realities intermingling and
colliding into one another. I also believe that at the center of each reality there lies the individual who
crafted it. Our perception of what is real and false exists solely in our own minds, and our minds are
what determines the lense in which we perceive the world. Our perception is largely influenced by our
psyche; how we live and think stems from our perception of the world. Our brains are directly
influenced by a number of key factors, including but not limited to; societal connotations, individual
experience, instinctual desires, environmental factors, and cognitive thought. These factors, as well as
other conditions, are what determine our default setting. In his noteable This is Water speech, given at
the 2005 Kenyon Commencement Address, David Foster Wallace argues a similar idea as he explains
his take on the phrase teaching you how to think . Through his use of relatable parables and anecdotes
and repetition and reverent focus of words like choice and awareness he paints a livid picture of the
use of conscious choice in our daily lives. He stresses the concept of a self centered default setting that
comes from an individual s blind certainty and the repercussions that deferring to that default can have
on an individual s lifestyle and fulfilment. If we are unable to recognise the water in which we dwell
we will always remain unaware, stuck in an

Differences Between Ming And Qing
The early modern dynasties of China known as the Ming and Qing gained their political identity from
traditional Chinese cultures. After a long time of oppression from traditional Chinese ways caused by
the Mongols ruling over China there was an immediate reverse to Chinese tradition once they lost
their power. At the end of the Mongol reign the Ming dynasty came into power hoping to restore the
empire s traditions. It created a more centralized government to have better power over the empire and
worked to build and/or restore the Great Wall. They also moved the capital to the more northern city
of Beijing in order to control the Mongol invaders. They set in place examinations as well to ensure
the most knowledgeable scholars received civil service positions. China also lived in the patriarchal
society of their ancestors. Foot binding became a popular practice as well as the ... Show more content

These Mongols though developed their government based on the culture of the Chinese. The emperors
were often even Confucian scholars and very artistically inclined but strong militarily as well. They
conquered a large amount of the states around China and drastically gained power. They used the
same exams for civil service positions that the Ming dynasty and tradition Chinese culture promoted,
even taking it to the next level to form schools specifically for the exams. This deep belief in the
Confucian values is strong evidence of how the Qing dynasty used confucian and traditional Chinese
culture together to build a strong centralized and intelligent government. The Ming and Qing dynasties
China restored to its traditional socially, patriarchally, politically, and even infrastructurally looking at

Montage Of A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Many of the poems within Montage of a Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes contain great meaning
as well as emotion embedded within them. Whether they are 3 lines or 20 lines long, vivid images and
explanations follow. The main focus of the series of poems are centralized on African Americans
living in Harlem in the 20 s and on and their opposition from the rest. The motif in nearly all poems
express discrimination, daily activities, and African American s struggle for equality. Out of all poems,
certain ones such as Theme for English B , Ballad of the Landlord , and Harlem #2 stood out. These
short poems have a similar correlation carrying the same meaning and or idea.

Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American.
Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between
a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of
his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black

What Is The Purpose Of Luke s Gospel
In the opening lines of Luke, His purpose as a Gentile is to show the audience, the Gentiles, how Jesus
was born into the Word as a Messiah that orally and behaved in the ways of the Jewish culture, beliefs
and values. It seems as though Luke s Gospel was written in an interpersonal way to convey the
significance of Jesus purpose and the teachings of how the Jews lived. It s almost like writing what
Luke observed to help His own kind strengthen their faith and follow the ways of how the Meek is
supposed to live. His Gospel is to descriptively show the Gentiles this man who performed miracles
and fulfilled promises. Luke was writing in awe, which He was spirited to share with Theophilus and
the Gentiles.

1. What s your ride? * 2012 Ram 2500. It has a 5 inch Flo Pro straight pipe. DPF delete, EGR delete,
throttle valve delete, pusher intake, stage 2 AFE cold air intake, and an H S Mini Maxx. Together, my
husband and I also have a 3500 Cummins cab chassis flatbed. It is also completely deleted with a 5

come true. It reminds me that even on the worst days, I am a lucky lady to be able to afford to have
something I have wanted since I was a little girl. Looking back even five years ago, I was working to
get my master s degree, and at times barely had money to pay the bills. 3. What do you love about

What do you love about the Diesel Industry * I like how the diesel industry is always changing. There

something satisfying about making something like a big truck, hit high horsepower and speed. 5. What
you feel the Diesel Industry Lacks? * As a whole, I think the diesel industry lacks promoting women
diesel owners. So much is geared towards men, from the color options of parts, to magazines. Many
times I would go to evens and look at parts with my husband. 90% of the time, the vendor would think
it was for my husband. 6. What is your part in the Diesel Industry * As a spectator, I try to go to most

Abstract: In this experiment we were provided a cereal box spectrometer to observe the emission lines
of noble gases and hydrogen. Based on the scale readings on the spectrometer and the Balmer Rydberg
formula, their wavelengths and percent error were able to be extrapolated. Based on the literature
values, the cereal box spectrometer proved its value as a decently accurate spectrometer.

reading and colors were then recorded on table 1.1 which can be found below. These values where

wavelength and scale readings.

Abortion is Woman’s Right to Choose Essay example
Abortion is Woman s Right to Choose
With so many women choosing to have abortions, it would be expected that it would not be so greatly
frowned up, yet society is still having problems with its acceptance. Every woman has the
fundamental right to decide for herself, free from government interference, whether or not to have an
abortion. Today, more than ever, American families do not want the government to trample on their
right to privacy by mandating how they must decide on the most intimate, personal matters. That is
why, even though Americans may differ on what circumstances for terminating a crisis pregnancy are
consistent with their own personal moral views, on the fundamental question of who should make this
personal decision, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, most teenagers do turn to their parents for guidance. But the government cannot mandate
healthy family communication where it does not already exist. Laws that restrict minor s access to
abortion by mandating parental involvement actually harm teens and families they mean to protect, by
increasing illegal and self induced abortions, family violence, suicide, later abortions, and the teenage
birthrate. The real agenda behind laws enabling parents to veto their daughter s abortion decisions by
requiring parental consent or notification is to deprive your women access to abortion. Opponents of
choice are seeking to use the issue of parental consent to paint the pro choice position as extremist and
anti family. The true pro family position is the pro choice position.
Having a pro choice viewpoint is not something that a person chooses overnight. I went through seven
years of sexual education before I really understood abortion and could make an educated decision on
my choice of sides. I have gone from being totally against the abortion procedure, to fully accepting it.
I believe that before you can really say that you do not believe in abortion you have to come up
against it in your own life. I know several women who have had abortions, not so they could party or
have fun, but so they wouldn t ruin their entire lives because of a mistake. They weren t particularly
overjoyed about it no one is and all are good, decent people

Windows versus Linux
Windows, and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in multiple ways.
Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for
it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there commands. Windows
1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linux a few years
later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. Open source meant
that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking. This has allowed multiple different
versions of Linux to be produced since then including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what
you would expect from the name. It is a version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linux also started with a command line interface like Windows. There are many similarities between
the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based on preference. A detailed evaluation will
often reveal that Windows has more features, and is easier to sue than Linux. When I took a survey of
my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I asked
these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons. Some said that they preferred
to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others
said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they
said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run
.exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth
be told however if someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other
miscellaneous tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in
when a user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a valuable
asset if you are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase Microsoft server which is the
Windows equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and valuable to any network that requires a server.
When it comes down to it both operating systems can do the same thing,

How Change Is Important For The Workplace
My initial reactions to change in the workplace is, how will this affect me and does it offer me growth
here at the company . Previously, in my professional career I have experienced change as an employee
thereby having the role to accept and apply the changes. I have yet to have the role of implement or
creating changes in a company. For me change is necessary and a refreshing modification in a
workplace. I have always welcomed changed both in my professional career as well as my personal

Therefore, I take the time to read memos, speak with management, and ask questions to better
understand the changes. I process changes by first understanding what is changing and what that
means for the company. For me understanding the overall benefit is important so I can have a positive
perception of the company s goals and vision. Next I evaluate if the changes will affect my job role or
me personally. If I am going to be affected, then I need to ensure I can meet the new expectations and
see if there is growth potential still. I believe change should be productive for all employees whether
directly or indirectly (Lussier, 2015). Changes happen at all levels of the company s pyramid and
some changes may take time where other may happen faster, either way change is essential for
company growth and competitive advantage in the market (Lussier, 2015).
With change comes challenges and those challenges usually scared people and make them resistant to
change. Change is uncomfortable to many people because it makes them feel vulnerable regarding
being in control and uncertain about their future (Lussier, 2015). Change can interfere with people s
autonomy and lead people wondering and assuming the worst. The challenges change brings is not
only for the employees but for management. Management has the challenge of trying to get the
employees to buy in to the changes and

Descriptive Power Of Nature
Deep in the mountains in the southwest corner of North Carolina is a river unlike any other. Halfway
through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed a natural
phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I realized the
insignificance of humanity, and why we should respect the overwhelming power of nature. The
Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on all sides. The
forest it was situated in is the only temperate rain forest east of the Mississippi River. The rafting
Industry has adopted this river as its premier destination. I was a 14 year old Boy Scout on a three day
camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic rain showers throughout
the day and night. The temperature was at the mid 80 s but never got above the 90 s. I was in a bright
yellow raft shared amongst five of my companions and a rafting Guide who went by the name Bones.
Bones was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair, tattoos of paddles shaped as a pirates cross on
both of his arms, and was massively strong. We floated down the river like leaves down a stream;
constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast overboard by the restless aggression of the rapids.
We were part of the way through a two hour journey down the Nantahala river. It had rained
continuously throughout the trip, which meant we were soaked to the bone and fighting hypothermia.

Exploring The Cost Of Hydraulic Fracturing Essay
Exploring the Cost of Hydraulic Fracturing in Colorado: What are the potential effects of the Tres Rio
2016 Oil and Gas Lease/Sale on Montezuma County s public health, ecological communities, and
economic stability?
Introduction
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a technique often administered by oil and gas companies in order
to create fissures within subsurface shale formations. After a site is established, the initial step entails
breaking through the soil and stone via a bit placed at the end of a drill. As the drill moves through the
rock layers, it utilizes air pressure to drive fragmented rocks to the surface. The drill ceases
immediately after it comes into contact with the first indication of fresh water. Once the drill is
removed, cement is incorporated into the drilled hole in an effort to prevent contamination of the
water source and as a safety measure.
Secondary steps require a perforated gun producing high magnitude electrical currents to be
introduced down the wellbore (oil field terminology pertaining to a hole generated from oil/gas
exploration), helping drive holes into the cement and ultimately enabling a channel for gas flow. The
gun is then removed. Under high pressure, the drill pumps a solution of water, sand, and chemicals
into the established site, allowing the gas (methane) to be released and stored.
Finally, a pipeline constructed from the storage space to the consumer market supplies the gas as an
energy source. Radioactive waste water also

Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to fracture because of
(A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning of the bony collar in the diaphysis.
6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony collar of long bones
helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e.
hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces by
virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates
(called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough
bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time
railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge.
7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight bearing as soon as
she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you described in question #6? (Be specific in
your answer and describe what weight bearing does to bone at the microscopic level.) The most
popular hypothesis regarding the effect of weight bearing on bone remodeling is called Wolff s law .

Accountability of Nursing Professionals: Weaning from Mechanical Ventilation
Samantha Madrid
Grand Canyon University
Abstract
This paper will discuss the weaning of patients off of a mechanical ventilator. It will look at the
problems associated with prolonged intubation vs. premature extubation, and what healthcare
professionals can do to assess a patients readiness to begin the weaning process. A patient care
scenario will be given and an explanation of how nursing practice can evolve with the knowledge
from this study will be shown. The accountability of the nursing professional in regards to mechanical
ventilation will be visited as well.
Accountability of Nursing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurse should assume responsibility and accountability for their patient s health. This requires the
nurse to research ways to assist a patient off ventilation, collaborate with physicians, and be aware of
the patient s condition and readiness to wean.
For some investigators, weaning success is defined as sustained spontaneous, unassisted breathing
with or without an artificial airway, and for others it is defined as sustained extubation (Cook 2000).
Whatever the nurse and physician see as the definition to weaning is far less important than ensuring
their patient is weaned at the correct time. Allowing a patient to remain intubated and on mechanical
ventilation when it is no longer needed, only puts the patient at risk for problems beyond the reason
for initial intubation.
Nurses should frequently monitor signs of a patient that is able to take spontaneous breaths. Assessing
levels of anxiety and diaphoresis along with frequent monitoring of vital signs can signal to the nurse
that the patient may no longer need the amount of assistance he is currently receiving. The nurse may
begin to wean the patient by decreasing the amount in mechanical support, in a slow and gradual
manner.
The study shows the decrease in mechanical support can be effected by increasing periods of
unassisted breathing, alternating unassisted breaths with mechanical breaths, and reduction of the
support delivered

there are a lot of proponents and benefits of globalization, these benefits apply not for everybody in
this world. Gunter and van der Hoeven (2004) holds that, globalization can be defined as: The

generated by economic development. Gunter and van der Hoeven points out that: The functional

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Report
The name of the disease that I have selected to write this disease paper about is acute respiratory
distress syndrome. Acute respiratory distress syndrome according to our text book Respiratory Care
Principles and Practice by Dean Hess states that acute respiratory distress syndrome is characterized
by the abrupt onset of respiratory distress; associated with severe hypoxemia and diffuse pulmonary
opacities on chest radio graph that are not caused by congestive heart failure or volume over load;
Pao2 200 MMHG. (Hess, 1287). Acute respiratory distress syndrome is respiratory insufficiency
marked by progressive hypoxemia due to severe inflammatory damage causing abnormal permeability
of the alveolocapillary membrane. The alveoli fill with fluid, which interferes with gas exchange.
ETIOLOGY according to Taber s medical dictionary, acute respiratory distress syndrome can typically
be a result of or from trauma to the lungs for example in situations like near drowning, aspiration of
gastric acids, and severe lung infection or systemic disorder. Shock, septicemia, disseminated
intravascular coagulation, cardiopulmonary bypass or reaction to blood transfusions. Widespread
damage to the alveolocapillary membranes is initiated through the aggregation and activity of
neutrophils and macrophages and the activation of complement. Cytokines, oxygen free radicals, and
other inflammatory mediators damage the walls of capillaries and alveoli, producing diffuse

The Rocking Horse Winner, By D. H. Lawrence
In literature, a symbol suggests that there is more meaning than what it appears to be. In the short
story The Rocking Horse Winner, D.H Lawrence uses many symbols that relate to the story s theme
and lets readers apply this to their daily lives. Symbols such as the whispering house, the rocking
horse, and money allude to a deeper truth found in the text. The story not only relates to the emotional
toils Paul s family encounters, but also brings awareness to the realistic run ins the world faces today.
The Rocking Horse Winner is a tragic tale about an overly materialistic mother who is compulsive
about money. She feels no instinctual love for her children and as a result, her son Paul attempts to
earn her love. The word money is an echo throughout the story. Representing obsession, greed, and
despair, the loss of an ideal family and the lack of value for her children, is the major theme of the
story. The family of five s house is described as a pleasant garden home, made up of valuables, and
also has servants. The house itself has a repeat of There must be more money! There must be more
money! Symbolizing that their humble abode is not truly a home, the pleas of greed relate to the

Noki The Nokia 9000 Communicator
Introduction
In recent years, more and more smartphone developers arise and variety of products are launched in
the market. The emergence of smartphone and the competition among smartphone platforms are
becoming more important and urgent although there aren t many information about it. Hence in this
essay, I am going to contribute my analysis and findings to this topic.
To chase back to 1996, the first smartphone was released by Nokia the Nokia 9000 Communicator. At
that time, Symbian, BlackBerry OS, Windows Mobile were some of the few competitors competing
on their operating system in the market. (Pocketnow, 2014) However back to present, Apple,
Samsung, Sony, HTC, Blackberry, etc are currently the most common brands. While Samsung and
Apple are the leading brands in the market, according to a statistic by Canaccord Genuity (2015),
Apple claims 92% of the global smartphone profits, following by Samsung of 14% (Wall Street
Journal, 2015). And Android is having 81.5%, IOS 14.8% of the 2014 market share according to IDC.
(IDC, 2015)
In the following, I will analyze on the competition in Smartphone markets by exploring: the model/
theory of monopolistic competition, the emergence of ecosystem in smartphone market, the business
strategies used by manufacturers, and analyze the evolution of the market. Lastly I will talk about the
differences between platform competition and competition among Smartphone producers, and whether
and why eventually a few firms will dominate the

Collegiate Level And Entering The Nba Draft
In the summer of 2006, the NBA instituted the one and done rule prohibiting high school graduated
from bypassing the collegiate level and entering the NBA Draft. To be more specific, this rule states
that high school graduates will gain eligibility for the draft, one year after their high school graduation
as long as they turn 19 years old by the end of the calendar year. This means players are not
constricted to going to the collegiate level, but may choose to player overseas for a year while they
wait for their NBA draft eligibility. The NBA claims this rule helps athletes gain maturity, further their
education, while rather this rule was put into place as a way to help the NCAA increase profit and
competition.
The argument for instituting the one and done rule was to provide players with the ability to become
more mature and develop rather than these players making the monumental jump from a small town
directly to being the hottest commodity in town. The NBA argued that this would make more mature
players and provide them a better ability to handle the pressures that come with being a celebrity.
However, from 2002 2005, there was only one more disappointment or bust compared to 2006 2009
after the league instituted the one and done rule. According to Tom Ziller of SB Nation Under the age
minimum, you d expect fewer busts in the top 10 those tempting high school kids are out of the
equation. But GMs have still found a way to mess a good thing up. This demonstrates

Finally, the paper concludes on the response to the exposure draft. Keywords: Fair value measurement, FASB Topic 820, IAS No. 13 Historical development of Fair Value Measurement Fair value measurement has been argued to be one of the most controversial areas in accounting. Although not a new concept many accounting professionals have only in the past two decades warmed up to the theory as a means of replacing the long standing historical cost approach applied to reporting of financial statement. The Dark Knight Figures In The Dark Knight Rises Monica Yip Carrie Jean Schroeder English 1C 30 August 2017 (WORKING TITLE) Batman s duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in America is both the problem and solution. As the third installment in the Batman trilogy, a different tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in ridding the city s criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent s own decline when the madman kills Dent s lover. This sparked Dent s own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos, Batman takes the blame for Dent s transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman. Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne s parents were tragically murdered right in front of him when he was young by an armed robber. This was the moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that killed his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Windows registry Autorun key was set to provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory. In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the malware into believing it was on the internet. He has descended to teach the masses about the overman, and the belief system that accompanies him. Nietzsche, through Zarathustra, is offering a new value system to replace Christianity. This value system can be referred to as Zarathustraism . A vital part to embracing this value system is the deconstruction of Christianity. Man has redefined Christianity to better suit personal desire, and it has begun to fail as a result. Zarathustra and his company arrive on an island, where Zarathustra encounters a fire dog. (Z II xviii) On the topic of churches, Zarathustra accuses the fire dog: you surely know your own species best! (Z II xviii) Fire dogs are symbolic for Christian churches, which are bloated and self centered. Zarathustraism clearly despises the church for the actions resulted in God s death. The church demands obedience from its followers, and thus led them astray. It becomes apparent quickly that Zarathustra has love for Man. Despite this love, he still feels beneath them. In a town, Zarathustra notices that new, man made structures had become smaller. I pass through this people and keep my eyes open; they have become smaller, and ever become smaller: the reason thereof is their doctrine of happiness and virtue (Z III v.ii). Those living in this town do not live the way Zarathustra has told them to; as a result, Zarathustra literally feels larger than them. Because he lives in the light of the overman, Zarathustra believes that he is more prominent than a normal Man. (Z III v.i). Zarathustra s heightened opinion of himself is formed from his dedication to the overman, as well as his dismissal of God. His relinquishment of God allows him to come closer to the overman than those who still have faith in Christianity. I am Zarathustra the godless: where do I find my equal? And all ... The prepared piano he created by adding screws, bolts, rubber, wood and weather striping between the strings of the grand piano. The piano was transformed into a percussion orchestra, with the loudness of that of a harpsichord. Cage later went on to earn awards for Sonatas and Interludes which was one of his most important works for the prepared piano in 1946 to 1948. • 19. The Kenyon Commencement Speech By David Foster Wallace I believe that existence is comprised of hundreds and millions of different realities intermingling and colliding into one another. I also believe that at the center of each reality there lies the individual who crafted it. Our perception of what is real and false exists solely in our own minds, and our minds are what determines the lense in which we perceive the world. Our perception is largely influenced by our psyche; how we live and think stems from our perception of the world. Our brains are directly influenced by a number of key factors, including but not limited to; societal connotations, individual experience, instinctual desires, environmental factors, and cognitive thought. These factors, as well as other conditions, are what determine our default setting. In his noteable This is Water speech, given at the 2005 Kenyon Commencement Address, David Foster Wallace argues a similar idea as he explains his take on the phrase teaching you how to think . Through his use of relatable parables and anecdotes and repetition and reverent focus of words like choice and awareness he paints a livid picture of the use of conscious choice in our daily lives. He stresses the concept of a self centered default setting that comes from an individual s blind certainty and the repercussions that deferring to that default can have on an individual s lifestyle and fulfilment. Langston Hughes states that all Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American. Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken. Abortion is Woman’s Right to Choose Essay example Abortion is Woman s Right to Choose With so many women choosing to have abortions, it would be expected that it would not be so greatly frowned up, yet society is still having problems with its acceptance. Every woman has the fundamental right to decide for herself, free from government interference, whether or not to have an abortion. Today, more than ever, American families do not want the government to trample on their right to privacy by mandating how they must decide on the most intimate, personal matters. That is why, even though Americans may differ on what circumstances for terminating a crisis pregnancy are consistent with their own personal moral views, on the fundamental question of who should make this personal decision, the ... Laws that restrict minor s access to abortion by mandating parental involvement actually harm teens and families they mean to protect, by increasing illegal and self induced abortions, family violence, suicide, later abortions, and the teenage birthrate. The real agenda behind laws enabling parents to veto their daughter s abortion decisions by requiring parental consent or notification is to deprive your women access to abortion. Opponents of choice are seeking to use the issue of parental consent to paint the pro choice position as extremist and anti family. The true pro family position is the pro choice position. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there commands. Windows 1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linux a few years later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. When I took a survey of my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I asked these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons. Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run .exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth be told however if someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other miscellaneous tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in when a user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Halfway through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed a natural phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I realized the insignificance of humanity, and why we should respect the overwhelming power of nature. The Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on all sides. The forest it was situated in is the only temperate rain forest east of the Mississippi River. The rafting Industry has adopted this river as its premier destination. I was a 14 year old Boy Scout on a three day camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic rain showers throughout the day and night. The temperature was at the mid 80 s but never got above the 90 s. I was in a bright yellow raft shared amongst five of my companions and a rafting Guide who went by the name Bones. Bones was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair, tattoos of paddles shaped as a pirates cross on both of his arms, and was massively strong. We floated down the river like leaves down a stream; constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast overboard by the restless aggression of the rapids. • 34. Exploring The Cost Of Hydraulic Fracturing Essay Exploring the Cost of Hydraulic Fracturing in Colorado: What are the potential effects of the Tres Rio 2016 Oil and Gas Lease/Sale on Montezuma County s public health, ecological communities, and economic stability? Introduction Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a technique often administered by oil and gas companies in order to create fissures within subsurface shale formations. After a site is established, the initial step entails breaking through the soil and stone via a bit placed at the end of a drill. As the drill moves through the rock layers, it utilizes air pressure to drive fragmented rocks to the surface. The drill ceases immediately after it comes into contact with the first indication of fresh water. Once the drill is removed, cement is incorporated into the drilled hole in an effort to prevent contamination of the water source and as a safety measure. Secondary steps require a perforated gun producing high magnitude electrical currents to be introduced down the wellbore (oil field terminology pertaining to a hole generated from oil/gas exploration), helping drive holes into the cement and ultimately enabling a channel for gas flow. The gun is then removed. Under high pressure, the drill pumps a solution of water, sand, and chemicals into the established site, allowing the gas (methane) to be released and stored. Finally, a pipeline constructed from the storage space to the consumer market supplies the gas as an energy source. Radioactive waste water also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to fracture because of (A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning of the bony collar in the diaphysis. 6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony collar of long bones helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e. hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces by virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates (called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge. 7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight bearing as soon as she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you described in question #6? (Be specific in your answer and describe what weight bearing does to bone at the microscopic level.) A patient care scenario will be given and an explanation of how nursing practice can evolve with the knowledge from this study will be shown. The accountability of the nursing professional in regards to mechanical ventilation will be visited as well. Accountability of Nursing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nurse should assume responsibility and accountability for their patient s health. This requires the nurse to research ways to assist a patient off ventilation, collaborate with physicians, and be aware of the patient s condition and readiness to wean. For some investigators, weaning success is defined as sustained spontaneous, unassisted breathing with or without an artificial airway, and for others it is defined as sustained extubation (Cook 2000). Whatever the nurse and physician see as the definition to weaning is far less important than ensuring their patient is weaned at the correct time. Allowing a patient to remain intubated and on mechanical ventilation when it is no longer needed, only puts the patient at risk for problems beyond the reason for initial intubation. Nurses should frequently monitor signs of a patient that is able to take spontaneous breaths. Assessing levels of anxiety and diaphoresis along with frequent monitoring of vital signs can signal to the nurse that the patient may no longer need the amount of assistance he is currently receiving. The nurse may begin to wean the patient by decreasing the amount in mechanical support, in a slow and gradual manner. The study shows the decrease in mechanical support can be effected by increasing periods of unassisted breathing, alternating unassisted breaths with mechanical breaths, and reduction of the support delivered ... Collegiate Level And Entering The Nba Draft In the summer of 2006, the NBA instituted the one and done rule prohibiting high school graduated from bypassing the collegiate level and entering the NBA Draft. To be more specific, this rule states that high school graduates will gain eligibility for the draft, one year after their high school graduation as long as they turn 19 years old by the end of the calendar year. This means players are not constricted to going to the collegiate level, but may choose to player overseas for a year while they wait for their NBA draft eligibility. The NBA claims this rule helps athletes gain maturity, further their education, while rather this rule was put into place as a way to help the NCAA increase profit and competition. The argument for instituting the one and done rule was to provide players with the ability to become more mature and develop rather than these players making the monumental jump from a small town directly to being the hottest commodity in town. The NBA argued that this would make more mature players and provide them a better ability to handle the pressures that come with being a celebrity.
