How Did Norman Rockwell Write Looking Out To Sea Essay
Looking Out to Sea Norman Rockwell was an illustrator that was hired by the Saturday Evening Post
to paint the covers for their magazines. What makes him different from other illustrators is that he
used normal people as the muses of his paintings. He also used many techniques in his paintings.
Rockwell would get photographs of his subjects, and also added extreme detail. The most peculiar
thing about his paintings is that he didn t use models, he used the normal people of his town. His
paintings also told a very intricate story between the blur of colours that he used. Norman Rockwell s
illustration Looking Out to Sea (1919) tells a story that depicts how times have changed but how
people stay the same. His illustration Looking Out to

Diane Arbus
Diane Arbus was originally born Diane Nemerov on March 14, 1923 to David Nemerov and Gertrude
Russek Nemerov. She was the daughter of a wealthy New York businessman. Her family owned
Russeks department store on Fifth Avenue, allowing Dian a pampered childhood. As a member of a
prominent New York family, she grew up with a strong sense of what was prohibited and what was
acceptable in high society. Diane s world was a protected one, with little adversity; yet this very lack
of adversity made her feel as thou she was living in ungrounded world. As funny and different as it
may seem, the ability to have a comfortable life was somehow painful for her. An extremely shy child,
she was often fearful but told no one of her scary daydreams and ... Show more content on

Now in addition to her fashion work she was also photographing children. She would go out to
Spanish Harlem in New York to photograph stranger s children. In the 1950s she also found herself
increasingly attracted to nontraditional people, people on the fringes of normal society. This new
avenue provided a release from the oppression felt in the fashion world. During this time of her life
she also suffered from recurring bouts of depression. Due to her mental state in 1957 the couple
decided to make a drastic change. He would continue to run their fashion studio, leaving her free to

period Diane decided, what she really wanted to pursue photographing the different. She saw her
camera as a sort of all access pass, that allowed her to be curious, nosy, and to explore the lives of

Temporary Disability In The Workplace
The best thing a company can do to protect itself from pregnancy discrimination litigation is to train
all managers appropriately, particularly those who directly oversee employees. When it comes to
creating policies that pertain to pregnancy, it is important for a human resource manager to
acknowledge that pregnancy is to be treated as a temporary disability. Therefore, the type of
accommodations that ought to be made should mirror those for related disabilities or illnesses.
Likewise, rules that are imposed for temporary disabilities can also be imposed for pregnancy. The
EEOC states that a pregnant employee cannot be singled out for special measures in an attempt to
determine her ability to continue her work. Instead, management should wait ... Show more content on

According to the handbook, benefit eligible employees may use paid sick leave for pregnancy,
childbirth, or pregnancy related illnesses. The handbook also addresses paid parental leave, stating
benefit eligible employees and benefit eligible post docs are eligible for paid parental leave (PPL)
benefits once they are employed for at least one continuous year on at least a half time basis. PPL is
provided to give parents flexibility and time off work to bond with their new child, adjust to a new
family situation and balance professional obligations. PPL benefits are provided to an eligible
employee during the first 12 months following a birth or adoption. An eligible employee may receive
up to 240 hours (6 weeks) of PPL. Purdue also provides family and medical leave under the Family

Factors That Affect The Water
Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr. Redman
states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the force acting
in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is
trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates drag slowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag
is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers closely
affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear tightly fitted swimsuits all to
reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times
denser than air, drag forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the
shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or
visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined
fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is
frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels encounter
friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot. This drag is
common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the future to solve this
drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is
eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance, MAGLEV trains
incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut through air, that way the force of
air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid
resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much
like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much like air
resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag. Submarines were once built like boats only they
were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army proposed a

The Roles Of The Role Of Sita In Ramayana
Abstract:
Sita is the only woman who captures the attention of readers and audience in the Indian epic poem
Ramayana. Sita has been interpreted several times for the way her life had been. She is born of the
earth and gets consumed by the earth. Sita s biological parents are not known. But the mother of Sita
is a God. While living the life of a human, this God incarnate figure of Goddess Lakshmi is the foster
daughter of King Janaka who takes care of her and brings her up with all the love and care but then
finally offers her in marriage after the swayamvara. Looking closely at this, we find that Sita even
though without biological inheritance could not be outside the patriarchal realm where the daughter
would be offered to a man in marriage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goddess incarnate fails to project her potentiality as a Goddess. She stays back within the
lakshmanrekha, further making it evident that incarnation has no significance and the earthly woman
is in need of protection. This frail act of Sita at that moment nullifies the power of goddess incarnate
and emphasizes only on the earthly frail nature of women or the weaker sex is highlighted. Sita fails.
Sita gets deeper and deeper into the circles of patriarchy. The lakshmanrekha, the supreme metaphor
for women s restricted movement.
According to the diasporic perspective the mythological figure of Sita projects an ambivalent function
of a subservient wife and a powerful symbol emanating resistance to maintain her obedience till the
end. (Vogt William, 2014). Sita instructs Lakshman in the beginning to go and protect her husband as
depicted in the poem and then when Lakshman does not abide by her, she is seen as a transfigured
human entity of a woman rather than an ethereal entity of supernatural attributes has been worshipped
for ages by the people as a goddess.
Lakshman logically tries to assure the safety of Ram to

Causes And Fall Of The Qing Dynasty
Between the years of 1646 to 1912, the Qing Dynasty proclaimed the longest ruling dynasty in China.
Over the 275 years of ruling China, the inevitable fall of the Qing Dynasty is still debated by
historians. From key contributing factors such as internal crisis, inability to adequately cope with
foreign powers and incompetent rulers who were unable to rise from old tradition led to the collapse
of the Qing Dynasty.
As early as 1793 the Qing Dynasty began to have trouble with their trades. When China began to work
with the British for trade it became an exploitive exchange from the British. Western trade was limited
to the Southern port of Canton (Guangzhou). This was known as the Canton trade system period (1757
1842). The Chinese government issued trading licenses exclusively to authorized merchants. These
merchants would be the only ones allowed to deal with Western traders. This system helped keep trade
with foreign countries running smoothly and, by extension, helped to eliminate the possibility of
external threats. In Britain s case, as the demand for tea rose and the production of manufactured
goods increased during the Industrial Revolution, it wanted to develop and increase trading
opportunities and to establish diplomatic relations with China. This led to Macartney s famous British
mission to China in 1793. China began to enforce rules that were as fickle as wind, England decided
to send lord Macartney as an Ambassador to Emperor Qianlong to negotiate safer and

Women In College Degrees
Introduction
The female advantage in educational attainment is not a new phenomenon. More women than men
have graduated from college since 1950. The percentage of American women who are earning college
degrees has steadily increased over the past 50 years, and currently there are more women than men
earning every type of college degree. There are many explanations for this trend, however, this
analysis will focus on three areas including Feminism, Marriage and Divorce, and Economic Factors.
Feminism and Gender Revolution
Beginning in the late 1960 s young women s expectations of their future labor force participation
began to change radically. Rather than follow in their mothers footsteps, women s aims have been for
careers, not just jobs, and these careers have begun to differ from the traditionally female occupations
of women in the past. Today, women are steadily filing into occupations that were historically men s
domains. In addition to the modern possibilities of a greater investment in professional careers has
come the availability of the contraceptive pill. Because of contraceptives, women are better able to
plan their futures without the burden of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A college degree has replaced a high school diploma for entry into the middle class job market. In the
past, a responsible, hard working individuals could get by without a degree, but today, it is almost
impossible to get a good paying job without a college degree. It is also becoming increasingly difficult
for families to survive on one income as economic times become more unstable and so more and more
women are recognizing that they will be required to have an education and seek employment in order
to help provide security for their families. Careers resulting from college degrees are more flexible,
family friendly and provide higher wages which is beneficial to a dual income

My Passion For Music
From day to day, I live trying to figure out my purpose of being in this world. No child is born a
mistake irrespective of the circumstances. I was born with a talent, although, yet to be discovered. A
talent is a symbol of who a person really is. When I was younger, my dad put me through music
school hoping that I would learn to play the piano because he wished he did when he was my age. I
was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and my
instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible. However,
the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers.
For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of
music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments. My
passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found pleasure in. A
friend of mine said I should try the violin. She described it as a classical instrument that soothes the
soul. The first few weeks I learned how to play the violin, I started to get a hang of it but as I played I
would always dance. It was weird to my classmates but dancing with the sounds the violin made me
so happy.
One s interest typically leads one to one s talent eventually, one step at a time. This is evident from a
popular quote Talent can t be taught, but it can be awakened by Wallace Stegner.

Adult Learning Is The Acquisition Of Knowledge By Adults
Webster University

Midterm Paper
Muzhda Rasool
05 01 2016
Adult learning is the acquisition of knowledge by adults. Theories on adult learning have been
discoursed and analyzed thoroughly by different people, with the aim of trying to define it and
optimize it. The two articles I have read describe adult learning, discuss its characteristics and explain
various approaches and means of optimization of this subject.
Abstract 1
Basically, this article by Malcolm Knowles is a conglomerate of all aspects of adult learning. It
outlines aspects of adult learning, theories of adult learning, and expands on them. The main idea of
this article is to create awareness on the existence of adult learning, and to help instructors of adult
learning to know how to go about it successfully. Additionally, the article is of help to adult learners to
enable them to learn the most they can (Knowles, 2007).
Matters concerning adult learning in the article are:
Active Learning
This involves a learning process that engages the learners. Attention is moved from the teacher to the
learners through practices such as role playing, group work and problem based approaches, for
instance. These activities put the learners in a situation where it is up to them to use available learning
resources to solve problems, hence causing active learning.
Adult Learning Concepts
These are principles that enhance and promote quality and successful adult learning. These concepts
include:

How Music Has Influenced Our Lives Essay
Mid Term Essay Sometimes in life people grieve. People feel all kinds of emotions. Music is almost
an emotion itself. In my perspective music can be an escape, for however long you desire. Music has
been call a way of life for many human beings. Somehow, it has made a large influence on the world. I
can think of many instances where music has influenced my life. Music effects our everyday lives and
can almost be an incomprehensive predicament. Music today is powerful and has a lot more meaning
than just sounds and words. Music is so powerful that it has the power to manipulate and influence
individuals in a positive or negative way. There is so much meaning behind music the lyrics
nowadays. Music can tell an artist life story, things they have been through, and even their opinion on
certain views. The most powerful function of music, however, is its ability to express our emotions,
thoughts, and feelings. Music has been so important to me, I would venture to say that without it, I
would not be alive. As someone diagnosed with bi polar disorder, or more commonly known as manic
depression, I have been prone to very wide and potentially dangerous mood swings. These moods and
the emotions associated with them, although often times irrational, were nonetheless extremely
powerful. Emotions that powerful had to be released and expressed to the outside world. I like many
teenagers, found that to express myself with words was far too difficult and frustrating. I found a way

America and the Holocaust
America and the Holocaust With the liberation of the concentration camps at the end of WWII, the
issue at hand was what to do with the Jewish peoples with no place to go. In the month of March
1933, one of the first camps, Dachau, was opened. Dachau was a concentration camp, or a prison
camp maintained by the Third Reich, [the name for Germany when the government was controlled by
Adolf Hitler]. Aside these concentration camps was two other types of camps; labor camps, and death
camps. A main concentration camp was Theresienstadt. Theresienstadt was located in what is now

The doctors who examined the incoming prisoners and sorted them also worked in these hospitals
performing medical research on the ill. This medical research was mostly placing the Jewish prisoners
in ice water baths then monitoring them until they died. This research was mostly used to prevent
hypothermia if German Pilots ever ended up being stranded in the ocean. Some of the experiments
performed by doctors often had no research purpose at all, such as experiments involving eye color
changing using chemical droppers and the surgical sewing of children together to create siamese
twins. Auschwitz was the largest death camp with 20,000 Jews being killed a day and 39 subcamps.
The Nazi leadership aimed to deceive the German population, the victims, and the outside world
regarding their genocidal policy toward Jews. Positive stories were fabricated as part of the planned
deception. One book printed and distributed in 1941 reported that in Poland, German authorities had
put Jews to work, built clean hospitals, set up soup kitchens for Jews, and provided them with
newspapers and vocational training. By 1944 most of the international community knew about the
camps and were aware that the Germans and their axis partners brutally mistreated prisoners although
exact details about the living conditions were unclear. The existence of the Nazi camps was known by
most of the European governments long before the beginning of World War II.

There Will Come Soft Rain Technology Essay
In today s growing society, technology has brought many reforms to the way we operate on a daily
basis. Most tend to consider the positive effects of technology, and how much it has benefited us both
socially and in the workplace. However, there is a form of duality that comes with these
developments; Despite the seemingly positive outcomes associated with the benefits of technology,
there is also a lack of responsibility on our part that results. Hence, over time it has been increasingly
difficult to draw the line between what is reasonable and what it simply too much when it comes to

One of the many magnificent features of the house is the automated kitchen. This kitchen pampered
the family by preparing each meal, washing the dishes, and serving them all at the dinner table, all
responsibilities you would expect of a typical household. Early in the text, Bradbury comprehensively
describes the kitchen s seemingly perfect nature, In the kitchen the breakfast stove gave a hissing sigh
and ejected from its warm interior eight pieces of perfectly browned toast, eggs sunnyside up, sixteen
slices of bacon, two coffees, and two cold glasses of milk (There Will Come Soft Rains 1). The
precision and accuracy of the breakfast prepared was impeccable: the milk cold, eggs and toast
prepared to perfection, and exactly sixteen slices of bacon to feed a family. With such an ideal, why
would anyone need or want to cook breakfast, when their effort could easily be replaced? Instead of
relying on themselves, one would instead choose to rely on this automated kitchen. The more someone
ceases to rely on themselves, the less responsible they ultimately become. Therefore, Bradbury s brief,
yet powerful, use of imagery supports the idea that it in such a technologically advanced environment,
taking on basic responsibilities is

The String Instruments Are Made From Wood, And Instruments
String instruments
Sting instruments are musical instruments that are made from wood and have strings. They make their
sound when their strings vibrate. This causes the body of the instrument as well as the air inside to
vibrate too. The strings are either plucked with the hand or a bow is drawn across the strings. In an
orchestra the four string instruments are the violin, the viola, the cello and the bass.

The Violin
The violin is the smallest and highest pitched string instrument. It is played by a violinist or fiddler.
When playing, the violinist holds the violin between the top of his left shoulder and the left side of his
chin as he draws the bow across the string or plucks the strings with one or both hands. The sound can
be stopped by placing a hand on the strings. The bow is made of wood and horse hair. The violin is
tuned in perfect fifths. Music for the violin is written in the treble clef. In the orchestra, the violins
play in two groups. These are the first violins and the second violins. In the orchestra, the violins sit to
the left of the conductor in rows. The first violins are to the far left and the second violins are to the
right of them. The Concert Master is usually a first violin player, and he or she sits in the front row of
the first violins.

close to the surface. They are more susceptible to over use and pollution. Non recharging aquifers are
usually found deep beneath the surface, and porous rocks, buried beneath a solid layer of sedimentary
limestone or dolomite rock. The water found in the non recharging aquifers arrives there because it
gets trapped there when tectonic plates shift, and sea levels where much lower 20,000 years ago when
the Siberian land bridge allowed humans to travel from Asia to the Americas. Nagle also discussed
both pro s and con s of extracting the water from the ocean. It will not be an easy task because while
the United States is fighting a water shortage, attempting to mine the water from the ocean could
cause huge irreversible damage to the ecosystem of the ocean and pollution to the environment. If the
drilling is not done very carefully, the entire water supply could be contaminated. Nagle discusses that
the underwater drilling would be comparable to drilling oil

Measuring Service Quality Using SERVQUAL
Introduction Measuring the quality of a service can be a very difficult exercise. Unlike product where
there are specific specifications such as length, depth, width, weight, colour etc. a service can have
numerous intangible or qualitative specifications. In addition there is there expectation of the customer
with regards the service, which can vary considerably based on a range of factors such as prior
experience, personal needs and what other people may have told them.
SERVQUAL a methodology for measuring service quality As a way of trying to measure service
quality, researchers have developed a methodology known as SERVQUAL a perceived service quality

Analysis Of Dina Litovsky s Untag This Photography
Dina Litovsky is an American photographer who s works examine and capture social behaviour and
interactions in individuals and groups in both public and private settings. An example of her works
where she captures aspects of social behaviour can be seen in her collection Untag This Photo which

A Comparison Of Abraham Lincoln And Nathan Bedford Forrest
The Civil War was the most divisive moment in American History, and decided the fate of the Union
forever. It created many of the social and political divides and contrasts in culture that are still seen in
today s world. The war was the eruption that had been brewing since the birth of the United States.
Two of the important figures in the Civil War period are Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford
Forrest. Both were influential in their own respective countries and both were seen as great leaders by
their own countries citizens. If the South won the war, Forrest would have been seen as more of a hero
than he is in the world today. Because the Union won the war, though, the more important figure is
Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was also more influential than Nathan Bedford Forrest because
of his honest character, compassion, and determination. Abe Lincoln was able to win people over
because of his understanding of society. He showed attributes that, at the time, were more caring and
loving than most people. For example, in some of his speeches from Illinois, he took a stance against
slavery. He questioned if slavery was morally and constitutionally right, which was a big risk at the
time. This move won over the liberal citizens in America, but greatly alienated the South, especially
when Abe Lincoln won the election of 1860. His determination was another huge factor to him being a
great influence. Even though he started out not taking the War seriously, which causes the Union to
lose some important battles, these losses are a wake up call for Lincoln, which reinvigorates him to
fight back against the South and win the war, saving the Union and freeing the slaves. This ended up
being his greatest strength, and what decides how he is remembered in history forever. While Lincoln
is more remembered in history, on the other side of the coin is Nathan Bedford Forrest. Even though
he was on the losing side, he was still well respected by people on both sides of the war, unlike
Lincoln who was hated by the South. He went down as a great general and a great tactician in the
Civil War. However, unlike Lincoln, his reputation is blown out of proportion and misinformed by
bias. In the South, he was remembered as a

length between 24 41 cm, is about 20.3cm tall and live up to about 14 years, also their ears are
between 10 15 cm long. The Fennec Fox is an omnivore. They mainly eat plants, rodents, insects,
birds, eggs, and rabbits. Also, their hearing is so good that they can hear their prey underground. The
biggest predator to the Fennec Fox is African Eagle Owls. Sadly they are often captured and sold as
pets. Jerboa Jerboas are desert rodents found in Northern Africa and Asia. Jerboas are nocturnal, so
during the day when it s hot, they shelter in burrows. At night they leave the burrows when
temperatures cool down. Their burrows are nearby plant life. Most jerboas eat plant material as the
main component of their diet, and they can t eat hard seeds. Also, some jerboas even eat beetles and
other insects they come across. Most species of jerboa have amazing hearing that they use to avoid
becoming the prey of nocturnal predators. The lifespan of a jerboa is typically around six years.
Barbary Stag aka Atlas Deer The Atlas Deer is a subspecies of red deer that is native to North Africa.
The Atlas deer is the only member of the deer family that is native to Africa. It thrives in dense, humid
forested areas of Algeria, originally they were found in Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. But their
habitat is now thought to be restricted to a coastal strip in eastern Algeria. The Barbary stag has or has
had predators like the Barbary lion, the Atlas bear, and the Barbary leopard, but they have either
become extinct or are endangered. Factors threatening the survival of the Atlas deer include habitat
destruction and poaching, the Atlas Deer is now endangered. It is estimated that only between 50 and
60 individuals remain in the wild. The Algerian Nuthatch The Algerian nuthatch is a small passerine

Good vs. Evil in Kipling’s Rikki-Tikki-Tavi Essay
Good vs. Evil in Kipling s Rikki Tikki Tavi
Kipling s Rikki Tikki Tavi has all the necessary parts of a battle story. It is full of battles, war tactics,

A battle story needs a gripping introduction, one that hints at the battles to come and one that brings
the reader in with an exciting anticipation. This story first begins with a poem of the brave Rikki Tikki
angrily chasing death with a lust to kill. It right away shows the necessary bravery and strength of the

Another battle is then started; a slightly larger battle than the last, as it is customary for all battles to

Mise-En-Scene in Casablanca

lighting, performance, costume, makeup in the film Casablanca .(Michael Curtiz,1942) The setting of
the story sets the tone for the entire film. Shots of tanks and planes show the violence of war that
coincides with the cutthroat city that is Casablanca. From there, those sentiments are reinforced when
a man is shot in the street while another man pick pockets someone whom is distracted. The mood of
the movie stays on the dark side of things when we enter Rick s Café, where we meet our protagonist

Here s someone whom the audience finds out has torn this man to pieces and she receives a fill light
that removes the shadows on her face, making her skin appear perfectly smooth. The back light
provides a halo effect, reinforcing her portrayal as an innocent, sympathetic, even tortured woman.
Although Ilsa has betrayed Rick, her depiction as a compassionate, almost angelic figure complicates
the audience s interpretation of her character. In contrast, Rick s lighting creates an exhausted image
of the older night club owner. His key light casts shadows which emphasize wrinkles. This wearied
picture of, complicates the relationship between Ilsa and Rick. Clearly Ilsa, who has wronged Rick,
sympathizes and wants to reach out to him. However, her relationship with Lazlo precludes the
possibility of Ilsa consummating her love for Rick. Thus, the lighting places a difference between
Rick, a pathetic bachelor, and Ilsa, the innocent, angelic lady. The characters posses qualities that are
both acceptable, however in this particular instance it s easy to believe that the audience still is glued
to Rick and isn t fooled by the angelic portrayal of Ingrid Bergman s Ilsa. In this scene the
performance is based on a particular delivery and facial expressions of that of one emoting to channel
tension, anger and regret.

Presidential Elections And The Political Integration Of...
The 2016 Presidential Elections and the Political Integration of Data Analytics The 2016 election
cycle pits Democrat Hillary Clinton against Republican nominee Donald J. Trump. After the success
of Barrack Obama s data analytics, Clinton continued their adoption of data analytics, this time
developing a new algorithm called Ada after the female, 19th century mathematician, Ada, Countess
of Lovelace (Wagner, 2016) and having Obama s former data analytics director, Elan Kriegel, as one
of the highest paid staff of her campaign (Goldmacher, Hillary Clinton s Invisible Guiding Hand ,
2016). Clinton s dependence with analytics is so entrenched that a lot of their campaign decisions are
based upon the results of Ada s 400,000 simulations per day on what a head to head with Trump
would look like. Moreover, Ada, played a vital role in determining the television ad buys, the
deployment of the candidate and her surrogates up to when to be scarce and be silent on the issues.
Even the staging of concerts with artists like Jay Z and Beyoncé was chiefly based upon Ada s data
driven analysis (Wagner, 2016) (Goldmacher, Hillary Clinton s Invisible Guiding Hand , 2016).
Contrary to the Clinton campaign, Trump is not quick to adopt big data in his presidential bid. The
Republican nominee has always been critical towards data analytics and heavily relied on his own
appeal. I ve always felt it was overrated, Trump said in an Associated Press interview. Obama got the

History of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba

Córdoba, or the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady. The mosque is considered one of the
monumental jewels of Islamic civilization. In addition, it is one of the largest mosques in the entire
world measuring about 24,000 square meters. The mosque was not all built at once, its construction
lasted from 784 AD to 987 AD. First, Emir Abd ar RahmanI began the construction of the mosque in
the year 784, on a site that was originally home to Roman temple of Janus and Visigothic church of St
Vincent. In the years 822 AD to 852 AD, Abd ar Rahman II added an arm bone of Prophet
Mohammed, an original copy of Quran, and increased the size of the Mosque. Then, Abd ar Rahman
III added a new minaret in the beginning of 9th century. Following Abd ar Rahman III, Al Hakam II
magnified the mosque and enhanced the mihrab in the year 961. Finally, Al Mansur Ibn Abi Aamir
enlarged it further through the addition of the orange tree courtyard and the outer aisles in the year
987. As a result, this mosque turned Cordoba into a kind of paradise on earth where the Mosque
symbolizes heaven. At its zenith, this mosque was the center of western Islam. The Great Mosque is a

MERS-COV Infection Lab Report
In general, these lab tests fall into two categories:
Molecular tests, looking for evidence of active infection.
Serology tests, looking for previous infection by detecting antibodies to MERS CoV. Serology tests
are for monitoring purposes not for diagnostic purposes (11).
Routine confirmation of coronavirus infection based on detection of unique sequences of viral RNA
by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) and sequencing. Any testing
for the presence of this virus must be performed in appropriately equipped laboratories by staff trained
in the pertinent technical and safety procedures. A number of RT PCR assays that are specific for the
coronavirus develop and publish. Currently described tests include an assay targeting upstream of the
E protein gene (upE)1 and assays targeting the open reading frame 1b (ORF 1b) gene1 and the open
reading frame 1a (ORF 1a) gene2. The assay for the upE target is considered highly sensitive, with the
ORF 1a assay considered of equal sensitivity. The ORF 1b assay is considered less sensitive than the

Characteristics Of A Servant Leader
Title of the Paper in Twelve Words or Less Servant leadership is a unique style of management that
ensures the needs of employees are met even if it means the leader has to make personal sacrifices.
The idea is that by serving others they will in turn not only do the bare minimum required for their
occupation but rather put forth the extra effort because they respect the authority of their manager.
This method of management is absolutely applicable in the field of nursing for anyone because it
makes everyone accountable for their own actions, not just the charge nurses or managers of a unit. A
nurse can exemplify the role of servant leader by setting the needs of their patients as priority. The
following paper will look into a few of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ties into aligning what people say with their actions. A leader may say their employees are the
biggest asset to the company but the actions of that leader may say something different (88). One
study found using love in leadership can also be positive when working with children (LOVE). In
early childhood, love based leadership could develop an environment where children are able to
express their full abilities; a key factor to develop this type of environment is to envision things form
the child s perspective (LOVE). This method should also be adopted in the hospitals so healthcare
providers are better able to meet the needs of their patient by placing themselves in the patient s
perspective. The third characteristic for servant leadership is being a humble leader. When people
think of characteristics of a leader today, being humble is usually not one that comes to mind. Rather,
leaders may be described as being full of themselves, or egotistical (110). If a leader removes the
pretenses of knowing everything and being powerful, employees will see their leaders as being more
authentic (111). As organizations become more and more complex it is impossible for any one person
to be an expert in all the different sectors, therefore leaders should humble themselves by admitting
they are not all knowing and should use the different traits, talents, knowledge, and contributions of
the followers around them to cultivate a

New Swipe Card System At London Heathrow Airport
As described by Palmer, Dunlap Akin, at the start of the peak holiday season, British Airways (BA)
employees at London Heathrow airport participated in a 24 hour wildcat strike due to the
implementation of a timeswipe card system that would monitor the employees clocked in and out
hours. To the executives, this change represented an improvement in technology that would increase
organizational efficiency. To the staff, however, this change represented something entirely different;
distrust and disrespect.BA executives had a history of ensuring that the organization was taken care of
at the expense of its employees. Jobs were cut, agreements were broken, and this new swipe card
system was just another example of the executives finding a way to monitor and control the staff to
the organization s economic gain. The staff feared that management would monitor their hours and
send them home during off hours and then call them back to duty at peak hours. In addition, the way
in which the change was communicated to the staff was what propelled the staff to revolt. The
executives sprung the change initiative on the staff with little warning and provided inconsistent
reasons for the necessity of the change. This made it nearly impossible for the staff to accept or adjust
to the change in a positive way.
The strike resulted in enormous losses to BA in terms of customers, employee morale, and overall
company reputation. Executives at BA did take a step back and reflect on their

As a member of a prominent New York family, she grew up with a strong sense of what was prohibited and what was acceptable in high society. Diane s world was a protected one, with little adversity; yet this very lack of adversity made her feel as thou she was living in ungrounded world. When it comes to creating policies that pertain to pregnancy, it is important for a human resource manager to acknowledge that pregnancy is to be treated as a temporary disability. Therefore, the type of accommodations that ought to be made should mirror those for related disabilities or illnesses. • 6. Factors That Affect The Water Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr. Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates drag slowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot. This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag. Submarines were once built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army proposed a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sita has been interpreted several times for the way her life had been. She is born of the earth and gets consumed by the earth. Sita s biological parents are not known. But the mother of Sita is a God. While living the life of a human, this God incarnate figure of Goddess Lakshmi is the foster daughter of King Janaka who takes care of her and brings her up with all the love and care but then finally offers her in marriage after the swayamvara. • 8. Causes And Fall Of The Qing Dynasty Between the years of 1646 to 1912, the Qing Dynasty proclaimed the longest ruling dynasty in China. Over the 275 years of ruling China, the inevitable fall of the Qing Dynasty is still debated by historians. From key contributing factors such as internal crisis, inability to adequately cope with foreign powers and incompetent rulers who were unable to rise from old tradition led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty. As early as 1793 the Qing Dynasty began to have trouble with their trades. When China began to work with the British for trade it became an exploitive exchange from the British. Western trade was limited to the Southern port of Canton (Guangzhou). This was known as the Canton trade system period (1757 1842). The Chinese government issued trading licenses exclusively to authorized merchants. These merchants would be the only ones allowed to deal with Western traders. This system helped keep trade with foreign countries running smoothly and, by extension, helped to eliminate the possibility of external threats. In Britain s case, as the demand for tea rose and the production of manufactured goods increased during the Industrial Revolution, it wanted to develop and increase trading opportunities and to establish diplomatic relations with China. This led to Macartney s famous British mission to China in 1793. China began to enforce rules that were as fickle as wind, England decided to send lord Macartney as an Ambassador to Emperor Qianlong to negotiate safer and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The percentage of American women who are earning college degrees has steadily increased over the past 50 years, and currently there are more women than men earning every type of college degree. I was born with a talent, although, yet to be discovered. A talent is a symbol of who a person really is. When I was younger, my dad put me through music school hoping that I would learn to play the piano because he wished he did when he was my age. I was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and my instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible. However, the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers. For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments. My passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found pleasure in. A friend of mine said I should try the violin. She described it as a classical instrument that soothes the soul. The first few weeks I learned how to play the violin, I started to get a hang of it but as I played I would always dance. It was weird to my classmates but dancing with the sounds the violin made me so happy. One s interest typically leads one to one s talent eventually, one step at a time. The main idea of this article is to create awareness on the existence of adult learning, and to help instructors of adult learning to know how to go about it successfully. Additionally, the article is of help to adult learners to enable them to learn the most they can (Knowles, 2007). Matters concerning adult learning in the article are: Active Learning This involves a learning process that engages the learners. Attention is moved from the teacher to the learners through practices such as role playing, group work and problem based approaches, for instance. These activities put the learners in a situation where it is up to them to use available learning resources to solve problems, hence causing active learning. • 25. A Comparison Of Abraham Lincoln And Nathan Bedford Forrest The Civil War was the most divisive moment in American History, and decided the fate of the Union forever. It created many of the social and political divides and contrasts in culture that are still seen in today s world. The war was the eruption that had been brewing since the birth of the United States. Two of the important figures in the Civil War period are Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Both were influential in their own respective countries and both were seen as great leaders by their own countries citizens. If the South won the war, Forrest would have been seen as more of a hero than he is in the world today. Because the Union won the war, though, the more important figure is Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was also more influential than Nathan Bedford Forrest because of his honest character, compassion, and determination. Abe Lincoln was able to win people over because of his understanding of society. He showed attributes that, at the time, were more caring and loving than most people. For example, in some of his speeches from Illinois, he took a stance against slavery. He questioned if slavery was morally and constitutionally right, which was a big risk at the time. This move won over the liberal citizens in America, but greatly alienated the South, especially when Abe Lincoln won the election of 1860. His determination was another huge factor to him being a great influence. Even though he started out not taking the War seriously, which causes the Union to lose some important battles, these losses are a wake up call for Lincoln, which reinvigorates him to fight back against the South and win the war, saving the Union and freeing the slaves. This ended up being his greatest strength, and what decides how he is remembered in history forever. While Lincoln is more remembered in history, on the other side of the coin is Nathan Bedford Forrest. Even though he was on the losing side, he was still well respected by people on both sides of the war, unlike Lincoln who was hated by the South. He went down as a great general and a great tactician in the Civil War. However, unlike Lincoln, his reputation is blown out of proportion and misinformed by bias. In the South, he was remembered as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 2016 Presidential Elections and the Political Integration of Data Analytics The 2016 election cycle pits Democrat Hillary Clinton against Republican nominee Donald J. Trump. After the success of Barrack Obama s data analytics, Clinton continued their adoption of data analytics, this time developing a new algorithm called Ada after the female, 19th century mathematician, Ada, Countess of Lovelace (Wagner, 2016) and having Obama s former data analytics director, Elan Kriegel, as one of the highest paid staff of her campaign (Goldmacher, Hillary Clinton s Invisible Guiding Hand , 2016). Clinton s dependence with analytics is so entrenched that a lot of their campaign decisions are based upon the results of Ada s 400,000 simulations per day on what a head to head with Trump would look like. Moreover, Ada, played a vital role in determining the television ad buys, the deployment of the candidate and her surrogates up to when to be scarce and be silent on the issues. Even the staging of concerts with artists like Jay Z and Beyoncé was chiefly based upon Ada s data driven analysis (Wagner, 2016) (Goldmacher, Hillary Clinton s Invisible Guiding Hand , 2016). In early childhood, love based leadership could develop an environment where children are able to express their full abilities; a key factor to develop this type of environment is to envision things form the child s perspective (LOVE). New Swipe Card System At London Heathrow Airport As described by Palmer, Dunlap Akin, at the start of the peak holiday season, British Airways (BA) employees at London Heathrow airport participated in a 24 hour wildcat strike due to the implementation of a timeswipe card system that would monitor the employees clocked in and out hours. To the executives, this change represented an improvement in technology that would increase organizational efficiency. To the staff, however, this change represented something entirely different; distrust and disrespect.BA executives had a history of ensuring that the organization was taken care of at the expense of its employees. Jobs were cut, agreements were broken, and this new swipe card system was just another example of the executives finding a way to monitor and control the staff to the organization s economic gain. The staff feared that management would monitor their hours and send them home during off hours and then call them back to duty at peak hours. In addition, the way in which the change was communicated to the staff was what propelled the staff to revolt. The executives sprung the change initiative on the staff with little warning and provided inconsistent reasons for the necessity of the change. This made it nearly impossible for the staff to accept or adjust to the change in a positive way. If this method were taken, the poem s presumed plot would have been taken quite literally: the poet is reminiscing about his childhood memories; the poem is sweet, simple, and nostalgic. However, poems are not that simple. They are complex riddles, full of hidden meaning. To truly shed light on Justice s purpose of the poem, it is necessary to look at the what if s through its intricate designs of language. The poem s form is an important start when close reading. Also, to discern the hidden meaning, it is important to consider the specific word choice and how it paints a picture inside the reader s mind. As a result, the reader will grasp the poem s true intention. By doing this, the reader will sincerely have an understanding of The Poet at Seven, the way Justice probably would have wanted. To begin the steps of interpreting what Justice has to say, it is crucial to analyze the poem as a whole. The Poet at Seven is a sonnet, but not the typical type of sonnet; the type of poetry that Justice applied is called a Petrarchan sonnet. Rhymes are used starting with the first line, later pairing it with line four, and so forth.
