Students Backpacks In Schools
When in the course of human events, it becomes obligatory for Anaheim High School principal to
contribute new lockers for the use of students. The lockers at school are horrendous. There is food
inside the beaten lockers and are displayed across our campus. This gives our school an unsatisfactory
appearance.
We hold these truths to be obvious, that all students should have the right to use lockers provided by
the school. To lessen the amount of weight on the students backpacks, all students should be able to
keep their sports equipment, dance supplies, band instruments, extra binders, etc... at school in their
lockers without having to hassle through the whole school day without all their school requirements.
Until now, students have been

How Shark Hunt Research Paper
How Sharks Hunt their prey
Sharks hunt for food in a variety of ways. From the blood sniffing style of the Great White to the
ambush tactics of the Goblin shark, they all needed to catch their food somehow.
The Whitetip shark, for example, lives In deep water where it is hard to find food it must be ready to
catch food. The shark has extremely tense senses, so that it can sense the slightest movement and
easily catch the prey easily.
The infamous Great White shark has very simple tactics, its senses are also not as extreme. They like
to hang off shore and pick off prey like seals and small whales. The unique hammerhead shark enjoys
eating stingrays. They can detect electricity with special organs in their head, they then can chase

Health Insurance Claims
In order to process health insurance claims there are two standard forms. The CMS 1500 Claim Form,
this billing method is used for physician and supplier services (ex: specialists, dentists,
ophthalmologists, durable medical equipment) and the CMS 1450 Claim Form (UB 04), used by
hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers to process both inpatient and
outpatient services (ex: medical expenses [bed pans/pads], x rays). Over many years updates were
made for each form with numerous changes being made, so any old forms should be discarded to
prevent denial of a claim. Both forms are used for Medicare, Medicaid, and many commercial third
party payer claims. Paper claim forms are still in use today on the brink of

Dependence By Octavia E. Butler
Dependence in Fledgling Dependence is a very broad term that encompasses multiple different aspects
of peoples lives. It can be defined in a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to, obsessions
compulsions, material reliance, and financial dependency. However, dependence is most commonly
used in terms of interpersonal relationship and substance addiction. An intertwined combination of
these two types of dependency is explored in Fledgling, a science fiction vampire novel written by
Octavia E. Butler. In her novel, Butler portrays dependence as a natural component of symbiotic
relationships with many varying forms of expression. Based on this, she also shows a connection
between co dependence and addiction while still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like so, the experience is described as beneficial to both people. After Shori reunites with her father,
Iosif, both Shori and the readers are informed that human blood is most satisfying to [them] and
fortunately, [they] don t have to injure the humans [they] take it from (63). Based on this quote, the
Ina symbiont relationship would be better classified as commensalism, where one organism benefits
while the other is not affected. However, Butler further stresses the mutualistic relationship between
the Ina and their symbionts by noting the other positive effects from the venom injected during
feeding. For example, the venom strengthens their immune system, lengthens their lives by around
100 years, and makes them heal faster. In other words, they will become much healthier, stronger and
harder to kill than they would be without [their Ina] (63). In this mutualistic relationship, the Ina
depends on their symbionts as a source of fuel just as much as the symbionts depends on their Ina for
health, but mainly feelings of pleasure and alleviation. However, when Ina misuse their abilities to use
humans as weapons and tools, it can be viewed as a parasitism (257). Parasitic symbiotic relationships
involve one organism benefiting at the cost of another organism. For instance, Iosif bit Raleigh Curtis,

Cecily Brown
Cecily Brown is an active and acclaimed painter born in London in 1969. She received a Bachelors of
Arts in Fine Arts from Slade School of Fine Art in 1993. She has lived and worked in New York City
since 1995 and has been exhibited in institutions across the United States and Europe such as Whitney
Museum of American Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Tate Gallery, and Hirshhorn Museum
and Sculpture Garden. Her work can be described as tension filled scenes that drift over the border of
figuration and abstraction, which often results in her categorization as a Neo Expressionist or a
feminist Abstract Expressionism.
Brown uses the full human figure in her work, and often includes multiple figures whose forms have

[...] This prejudice worked strongly against inclusion in the Abstract Expressionist pantheon of ethnic
as well as sexual minorities, because the interests of such artists did not generally lend themselves to
creating works that would qualify as pure.
Cecily Brown s use of abstraction, nudity, male and female bodily manipulation, and erroticism come
together to challenge subjects and movements that are historically male dominated. The three main
elements of Cecily Brown s work (figuration, tension, and abstraction) contain references to past
artistic personas and movements. She is influenced by the dark expressiveness of Francisco Goya s
figures, Edgar Degas s creation of nearly sadistic scenes with strong colors, and the fluid vulgarity of
Abstract Expressionism. The successful mixture of these elements has branded Brown as a Neo
Expressionist and as a result she has met much success in establishing a painting career in New York

Harrison Bergeron Equality
Equality to some means to have fair rights and opportunities. To others it may represent a just world
where no one person is better than another. But when does equality stop and human qualities begin?
This issue is addressed in Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron. In the short story, a family has just been
split apart by the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General (Vonnegut).
These men and women work to create an equal country where everyone is exactly alike. They make
this possible by adding handicaps to those individuals who are more outstanding than others.
Vonnegut s point in writing this futuristic story where all people are treated equal is that there is no
true equality. Individuals who wish to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essentially never happens because humans are different, and there is nothing that can change that.
People are born with anomalies. These make each person who they are by adding personal
characteristics, traits, and qualities. In the story, George is born with intelligence, his son Harrison
with size and strength, and the ballerina on the television with a beautiful complexion (Vonnegut).
These make George, Harrison, and the ballerina special from other characters. They also give their co
stars a quality they cannot possess: to be normal. Kurt Vonnegut writes Harrison Bergeron to prove
equal can never be equal. There will always be human flaws that get in the way of a utopian society,
and this is not bad. If everyone had the same color of hair, eyes, and skin, there would be no
differences to accentuate. If all humans had the same intelligence and strength level, then there would
be no Babe Ruths or Albert Einsteins in the world. Those people with differences become legends and
affect the earth in their life and even after they are dead. In Harrison Bergeron, handicaps are added to
those characters who do not fit the mold of a normal person, impeding their ability to change society.
True equality can never happen by changing extraordinary persons to ordinary. That is what Kurt
Vonnegut is implying with his short story Harrison

Theme Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew
In the Taming Of The Shrew, William Shakespeare directs Katherina to undergo a dramatic attitude
and personality change throughout the course of her marriage to Petruchio. In the time of the play,
women were expected to be loyal and obedient. Katherina began by challenging and contradicting that
perception, yet still gives into the demands of society and Petruchio by the conclusion of the play.
Petruchio humiliates and starves her, which shows his dominance in their relationship and eventually
persuades Katherina to give in to him and how he wants her to act. Through the portrayal of Petruchio
s character, Shakespeare shows how women were treated badly and abused in mental, physical and
emotional ways by their husbands in the Shakespearean times. In various ways, Petruchio tames
Katherina and as the play ends, it becomes evident that she is now a normal wife for the
Shakespearean era. On Petruchio s wedding day, he instigates his first technique to tame Katherina by
humiliating her in the public eye. Before the two characters have even been legally wedded, Petruchio
already begins his process of taming Katherina, the wretched shrew . He does this at the day of the
wedding, by arriving late enough that everyone starts to worry whether or not Petruchio will arrive for
his own wedding. The guests perceive Katherina to have no emotions because she is thought to be a
shrew and so laugh at her when he arrives late. Now must the world point at poor Katherine, and say

Duality In The Scarlet Letter
Paradoxical Neutrality in Humanity Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter introduces adultery
between Hester and Dimmesdale to oppose Puritanism, which believes in absolute goodness or
wickedness. These two sinners mutual crime and yearning for redemption indicate the dualism in
humanity. The conflicted irony between their inner selves and outward characters heightens the
tension in the novel, which dissolves with the unity of private and public selves. Hawthorne s use of
contrast in The Scarlet Letter reveals duality in Hester and Dimmesdale s identities to criticize
Puritanism s inflexible judgment of people and to promote tolerance within humanity, which resolves
with the acceptance of one s unchanging identity at the end.
Hawthorne evokes the ironic darkness behind Dimmesdale s pure, public mask to indicate sin s
existence in all humans, including the elects. Dimmesdale fails to overcome his past honourable
public image and to reveal the truth about his sin because the townspeople ... Show more content on

As the meaning changes from scorn and bitterness to awe and reverence , the original isolating symbol

their two polar positivity and negativity eventually blends into a paradoxical shade of grey, which
constructs one s authentic identity and leads them to

Colorism-Skin Tone Discrimination In The Makeup Industry...
For decades, makeup companies have treated foundation shades like a high end, exclusive VIP club
that women of color cannot get into. Representation in the beauty industry is a continued issue that no
makeup company can seem to get right. While the spectrum of foundation shades have widen, the
makeup counter has not changed much. There is a major misunderstanding between makeup industries
and women of color. This is a result of the lack of understanding of the needs of the diverse consumer.
There is an absence of knowledge and empathy for others that are not white. When we consider these
factors we have to think about the creators of these products. Often times they do not look like us, so
how can we expect for them to meet our needs. This form of discrimination can place a direct
discouragement on women of color s self esteem. This exclusion in an attempt to purchase foundation
for their skin tone is what race relation s specialist, Nadra Kareem Nittle calls colorism. In her article
What Is Colorism Skin Tone Discrimination in America, she describes colorism as the disadvantage
dark skinned people face, while privileging those with lighter skin. Colorism is rooted in slavery, as
slave owners typically gave preferential treatment to slaves with fairer skin complexions, while dark
skinned slaves faced harsher mistreatment out in the fields. Makeup companies favor their white
counterparts, often only providing a few shades that do not meet the needs of women of color.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three
walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which supplies
feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons that flex the
fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles at the base of
the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is considered an
inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that cause the
tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons within the
carpal tunnel can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur from a
combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work stress and
psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause for the disorder
cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion are increasing. They
account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over
41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the
workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3)
awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture.
Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in
the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards.
The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can
shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist,
fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand
and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that

Nazi Propaganda Was A Well Know Thing During The Holocaust
Nazi Propaganda was a well know thing during the holocaust. Hitler and Joseph Goebbels were the
ring leaders. Hitler became the German chancellor, and in March of that year he appointed Goebbels
the country s minister for public enlightenment and propaganda. Goebbels had complete jurisdiction
over the content of German newspapers, magazines, books, music, films, stage plays, radio programs
and fine arts. His mission was to censor all opposition to Hitler and present the chancellor and the
Nazi Party in the most positive light while stirring up hatred for Jewish people. Hitler was a well
supported person. Many Germans supported him for many reasons. The purpose of propaganda was to
condition and convince people, and get them to believe in the values and ideas of the Nazis.
Propaganda is well known for war posters. It is a mode of communication aimed at influencing the
attitude of a community toward some cause or position. Propaganda was used by the Nazi party in the
years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler s leadership of Germany. Propaganda was a crucial
instrument for acquiring and maintaining power. The Nazis used propaganda to increase their support
and appeal. They spent huge sums of money on newspapers, leaflets and poster campaigns with
simple slogans encouraging people to support the party.
The military style of the Nazis involved using large political rallies to gain support. These were vast,
highly organized events with banners and marching bands. The rallies

Let s talk about Japan. The nation is known for being much more technologically advanced than the
U.S., so naturally the buildings would be different, right? Sort of. Notice that the post in
postmodernism is just a prefix that means after. That means we ll have to talk about modernism.
Modernism is, as I said before, a more futuristic looking style of art *Clears throat* I mean
architecture. The prefix of after doesn t mean that America is more advanced than Japan. This has
nothing to do with chronology. Modernism is a type of architecture/art that is made up of one piece of
material, or designed to look that way. The design of these buildings looks cool, and is usually
efficient, but it lacks the artistic flair of some other styles. *Play slide 3 of slideshow* As seen in
literally half of the pictures, nature is ingrained in a lot of the structures. Other than being artistic, this
traces back to what I said in the beginning of my presentation. It also holds the extra bonus of being a
way to be religious . Yes, I just quoted myself. Don t judge. The traditional religion of Japan, Shinto
believed that nature was very important. The main thing that is associated with the religion is that
everything in nature has kami in it, which are like little spirits. The way nature is ingrained in
Japanese is able to flow easily with modernism. Since the architectural style is usually either cubic or
spherical,

Communication Is A Form Of Symmetrical Communication
Communication can come in various forms. A person can write, speak, or even use American Sign
Language to communicate. Within communication itself, there are various styles used and ways to
receive feedback. To name a couple, two way asymmetrical and two way symmetrical communication
are two well know forms in regards to Public Relations. Asymmetrical Communication happens when
professionals seek to pursue their publics into changing their opinions about certain things. However,
this attempt is usually unequal, given that professionals use research to help them persuade their
publics. Symmetrical Communication on the other hand has a form of balance to it and can lead
publics to change their attitudes on their own.
I think that blogging is a form of symmetrical communication. Although it may seem unusual, this is
an actual form of communication. A person (both professional and non professional) is able to publish
their opinion about something and publics are able to read and/or respond by commenting. Usually
blog posts get overlooked. There are probably a million posts that have been published, but no one has
read. However, well known bloggers or blog sites, like Perez Hilton, TMZ, Mashable, and my
personal favorite, The Shade room are all somewhat reliable sources. Many of these are digital media.
These are people and/or their sites that receive a ton of feedback from their blog posts. The Shade
Room in particular usually posts updates and breaking news on celebrities,

Don t rely on the media s research. Although the media will do their own homework don t rely solely
on the results of their research. Make sure to give them your facts. This is especially important if your
topic is controversial as you want them to have the data that supports your position. When you are
pitching it is useful to have as many facts ready to use as possible. If you have a tricky or detailed
topic, present as much information as you can so that the busy, inundated producer or journalist can
grasp your message quickly. The more time you save explaining, the more time you can spend
pitching the benefits of having you as a guest or featured on their pages. 4. There is power in numbers.
What we are talking about here is especially true if you are pitching a controversial topic. If you re
pitching a controversial topic to a radio or TV show, select the guests you want to appear with you.
This gives you more control of the segment and ensures your message will gain acceptance from the
audience. If you do not have suggested guests to pitch to the producer, and they pick it up, you may

Lingua franca is defined as a language that is adopted as a common language between speakers whose

Japanese American Internment Dbq
The Japanese American Internment They moved the Japanese Americans for a reason. After the
bombing of Pearl Harbor, America wanted to take every precaution they could to ensure the United
States safety. In doing so, the army and government took the precaution to create the internment of
Japanese Americans. They moved them to camps that they would keep them in and provide decent
living conditions. The United States was justified in moving the Japanese Americans because some
lived near vital naval bases that they could have infiltrated, there was no problem in doing so, and it
would protect all citizens of America. The first reason why the military was justified in the internment
was because some Japanese Americans lived near important naval bases. In some and a lot of cases
Japanese Americans lived near vital Naval bases and oil drills and collectors. In Doc A it states More

Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marqez s A Very Old Man...
Characteristics of Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marqez s A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings
The controversy surrounding Magical Realism makes the classification of what is and what is not
Magical Realism very difficult. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a famous Latin American author, has written
many pieces of what is generally conceived to be Magical Realism. Marqez s A Very Old Man with
Enormous Wings fulfills every characteristic of Magical Realism..
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings includes many aspects, which may be described as magical. In
the story, an old man with a very poor set of wings is found and kept as a pet for several years. These
wings were described by the doctor in the story as ...so natural on that ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The language used by Magical Realists such as Marqez contains a romantic quality. The world was
sad since Tuesday (525) describes the mood of the people as not only sad, but extraordinarily sad and
for a space of time as well.
The magical elements are treated as though they are somewhat acceptable. The characters react to the
old man with wings as one reacts to an out of ordinary person. Once the novelty has passed, the person
becomes ordinary.
Though elements of magic exist in the story, a realistic environment surrounds the actions. The family
that houses the angel makes the realistic decision of selling admission to see the angel in order to
better their financial standing. They also tire of the angel eventually, treating him as though he were a
dog. Only when he becomes ill does the family begin to worry about him.
The mobs that abandon the old man are very fickle. Just as fans are in reality, they desert one fad for
another. The lady spider is a new fad, and the old man suddenly seems ordinary in comparison to her.
The use of details causes the reader to render close observation toward the subjects of the story. The
angel is a flesh and blood angel, and his description is very grotesque. There is no grandeur in
describing the angel or the spider. The ordinary aspects of the story give it a realistic allure. The use of
a chicken coop to house the angel is very humbling. The characters do not have mansions or summer
homes. They

The artist that I have chosen is Richie Valens. The genre in which the artist is mostly categorized in is
Rock Roll. The reason why this artist should be represented more into this course is because not only
did he make such an impact in the music industry within two years even though he died when he was
17 due to a plane crash. Furthermore he only released two albums. With only two albums alone he
influenced many artist for example like of Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Carlos Santana. He is

Liquid Crystal Display Advantages And Disadvantages
AGRICULTURE is the need of most of the Indians livelihood and it is one of the main sources of
livelihood. It also has a major impact on economy of the country. A major quantity of water is used for
irrigation system and therefore 85% of available fresh water resources are used for yielding
agricultural crops. This resource of water will decrease day by day and consumption of water will
dominate and increase more than 85% in upcoming half century. This is due to the high growth in
population due to this tremendous growth in population there is huge demand for food. Agriculture is
the main source for food production. Using science and technology we need to implement a method
by which there can be limited consumption of water.
Till date many methods have come into existence where water can be limitedly consumed. A method
where monitoring water status and based on status of water whether it is high or low irrigation is

Blanche Dubois In A Streetcar Named Desire
Every person in their life has been a Blanche at some point or another in their life. I know that I have
done this personally and am working on bettering that part of myself but I too have been
unrealistically optimistic, or in the word of Mrs. Dubois I don t want realism I want magic. In the
beautifully tragic story of A Streetcar Named Desire we find that Blanche Dubois has stepped into the
next level of fantasy and has not only tried to make others believe the lies she tells but has begun to
believe it herself.
It is important to note why Mrs. Dubois makes up fantasies in her head and why she pushes them off
on others. Blanche says in the play Magic, I try to give that to people. I misrepresent things to them. I
don t tell the truth, I tell what ought to be the truth. By gaining this insight into her mind frame we can
see that she uses a manipulation of the truth as kindness. Her traumatizing experiences such as finding
her husband and later his corpse after committing suicide is too much reality for her and as a defense
mechanism creates a fantasy. In her own way Blanche believes that it is her role to protect others from
a reality that may hurt them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis On Cradle And Michael Braungart
In Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough and Michael Braungart, the two authors take into great
detail by explaining the cradle to grave manufacturing system. The system explains every step of a
product s life from the creation to the disposal of the product. It is important to learn about this system
because in order for a company to track and take responsibility of their hazardous waste . The system
itself explained where products are created and the mass production goes into this system without
enough consideration to human health and the environment. McDonough and Braungart promote for a
new framework where companies take into consideration on every step of a product s lifestyle. In the
authors observations that human industry should co exist with nature by designing products that are in
a way non toxic, biodegradable, or recyclable without loss of material quality. With this in mind, a
common type of consumer product such as a plastic bottle that could be redesigned to be healthier for
humans, environmental friendly, and create less pollution towards our planet. The two ways that
plastic bottles can become more intelligently designed is by changing how plastic bottles are
manufactured in these industries and removing chemical ingredients that are harmful to human and
environmental health.
Before I get into explaining about the system, cradle to cradle I would like to give some history of
how plastic bottles came to be:

Understand The Concept Of Play Essay
From an early age children are known to engage in a number of activities in which would feed their
curiosity alongside aiding their development. The main activity in which they would willingly
participate in would be pretend play; play is not something which is only done by children however
can be performed by adults and even animals.
In order to understand play and how it may benefit young children we must first be able to define it,
however this creates the initial issue. This is due to the fact that the concept of play is disreputably
difficult to define (Burghardt 2011). Although despite this we are able to split the concept of play into
four various aspects, as described by Linda Rose Krasnor and Debra J. Pepler (1980), positive affect,
flexibility, intrinsic movement and nonliterality.
Positive affect refers to the idea that individuals who seem as though they are enjoying themselves
whilst they are playing. Flexibility would then touch upon the idea that the play behaviours would

One classification of play would be object play; this would occur within younger children and would
traditionally begin with children that are approximately 5months. At 5 month the child would use
object play as a way to feed their curiosity, it would allow them to explore objects by touching, feeling
and seeing what they would be able to do with it. However as the child ages to roughly 2years + they
would begin to use more than one object and allow their imagination to be free and would see objects
being more then what they are. An example of this would include a child seeing a block of bricks and
using it to build a house. Another example can include a child pretending to be a doctor with an ice

Rules In The Handmaids Tale
Bruno Bettelheim once said, Punishment may make us obey the orders we are given, but at best it will
only teach an obedience to authority, not a self control which enhances our self respect. More often
than not, those surrounded by rules feel pressured to adhere to them due to the fear of repercussions.
Even so, it is not guaranteed people will comply. Sometimes, being bound by rules can only make one
feel rebellious. This proves to be true in Margaret Atwood s speculative fiction novel, The Handmaid s
Tale. Through characterization, flashbacks, and point of view, Atwood demonstrates how strict rules
lead to the temptation for defiance, despite the possible consequences. In the novel, the majority of the
characters seem to acknowledge the strict laws of Gilead, while still not fully obeying them. Though
breaking these laws leads to cruel ramifications (e.g. hanging, exile, etc.), it does not stop members of
the society from breaking these said rules. In chapter 23, Offered goes to see the Commander in his
room alone one night. My presence here is illegal. It is forbidden for us to be alone with the
Commanders (Atwood, 136). Offered is aware of the fact that this request is unlawful, yet she still
ponders on it. Just as well, the Commander calls her to his room which shows that even sitting in a
position as high as his, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

many may think that forming strict laws is a way to get people to adhere and act accordingly, Atwood
proves otherwise in the situations depicted in The Handmaid s

Odd Girl Out
On average 77 percent of students are bullied mentally, verbally, and physically in the United States.
Odd Girl Out by Rachel Simmons brings to light the hidden culture of aggression in girls. Throughout
the novel, Rachel goes over every aspect of female bullying. She includes first person accounts with
high school and middle school students and some of the pressures from classmates, friends, parents
and teachers, and themselves. Every novel has its strengths and weaknesses. In Odd Girl Out, Rachel
Simmons does a nice job bringing to light a subject that is not explored very often, however there is
still so much we don t know and it is very hard to stop this activity from happening.
Elaborating deeper on the strengths of this novel in general, this novel again explores teenage
aggression in girls that is often justified as a stage that will eventually pass. This is part of the reason
this is such a big issue. Other strengths include helping get answers for the hun dreds of people across
the nation for why bad things like bullying happened to them in middle school and high school.

comes to mind is that there is still so much that is unknown about the subject. This makes the behavior
hard to stop even though it is present in everyday life for many people. In my opinion, deeper research
needs to be done to fully comprehend what is needed in this case. As a high school student myself,
there are actions in the novel that I did not know be forehand. If this information gets into the wrong
hands, it could potentially initiate aggressive behavior. It could teach girls new ways to hurt someone
which is not the goal of the book, but it is still a possibility that is sad and hard to think

Rough Draft Process Analysis
When beginning to write an essay everyone has their own method of doing so. Some may like to
brainstorm while others may prefer to go straight into writing about their topic. I personally beginning
every essay by collecting ideas about my topic before coordinating them into a type of diagram, next I
proceed to do my rough draft before revising over the paper and finally composing my final draft. The
point of the writing process is to help break everything down so ideas can be organized and everything
can make perfect sense for not just the writer but also the reader.

Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not proofread
then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader. Using correct
punctuation shows how sentences are supposed to be read. Once I have made sure all my sentences
are grammatically correct I then compose my final copy of the essay. Writing can be difficult if not
done correctly. That is why there is a writing process to follow. Using some type of way to group ideas
together help coordinate how the essay will go. Then once the ideas are put together the rough draft
can be formed and edited. After everything has been writing accordantly the essay can then be turned
in. Some may think the writing process is just some more additional steps to getting their essay done
but overall it makes the writing experience easier and more

Modern Day Greek Heroes
Whether in mythological times or present day, there has always been heroes. There are many
differences in the heroes of mythological times and today, but one key similarity is courage. Whether
it was Odysseus fighting for Greece to overtake the Trojans, or Martin Luther King Jr. standing up for
his civil rights, courage was required for both of these actions. It takes courage to fight for one s
country, and also courage to stand up for oneself. A key trait that can be seen in mythological times is
the trait of Greek kleos. Kleos is the term used for glory and honor that the hero seeks for himself or
for his family. In modern day, our heroes can be associated with self sacrifice and fighting for a greater

Luther King Jr. once said: Faith is taking a step even when you don t see the whole staircase

applied to his situation; he took a leap of faith even though he did not know what the outcome would

his fellow African Americans. Although he knew he could possibly die, he did not stop fighting. He
sought the freedom and equal rights of African Americans, and he played a large impact on African

Essay on Whistleblowing
Sharon Watkins earned her 15 minutes of fame the honest way, as the Enron employee who blew the
lid off of then CEO Ken Lay s debauchery. But for every celebrated whistleblower, there are hundreds
who remain in the shadows. And for good Samaritans who do tell their tale, the price they pay can be
exorbitant.
Whistleblowers perform in many careers and are found at all levels of an organization: scientists and
secretaries, lawyers and paralegals, managers and staff, security personnel and computer specialists,
etc. They are as varied in age, ethnic background, education, profession, sex, and income as the

The whistleblower him or herself must be carefully scrutinized. What are the personal and the
professional reputations of the whistleblower? What is the motive driving the whistleblower? Is it to
benefit the client or the organization, or is it a need for attention or revenge? Is the whistleblower s
cause seen as legitimate and significant by trustworthy colleagues and friends? Is the whistleblower
aware of the potential consequences of blowing the whistle and still willing to accept responsibility for
actions taken?
Unfortunately, during most of this century many people equated whistleblowers with tattle tales. For
instance, until the early 1980s, legal indices often listed the law of whistleblowing under the word
snitch or informant. During the Nixon era, much of that negative attitude changed. With the advent of
Watergate, the public began to recognize the service whistleblowers were providing to taxpayers at
great risk to themselves.
Further, whistleblowing impacts not just the whistleblower but also their family and friends. Although

New Mexico has seen sales growth trends similar to the larger U.S. market. New Mexico has
experienced a slight decline in the number of establishments selling knives but has still maintained
sales growth according to U.S. Census Bureau data (figure 2). Sales of knives and cutlery has grown
from $111 million in sales in 1997 to $190 million in sales in 2012.
Figure 2
Most knife and cutlery sales in the United States are made in retail chain stores and warehouse clubs,

The whole country was drunk on the cheap credit, courtesy of the euro. It was an absurdly low interest
rate for Ireland, which could have done with rates of eight per cent or even nine per cent (Heath,

previous experience told people that all the abnormal climbing economies would led to economic
bubbles, such as the US and lceland( Kelly, 2006).
Furthermore, what people can predict through the observation of interrelationship between the soared
property prices and the crisis. The dramatic growth of GNP greatly related to bank lending, low
interest rates and relaxed lending criteria led to a housing boom (Kelly, 2006). According to Kelly
(2010, P10) the rapid expansion of bank lending led predictably to rises in the prices of Irish houses
and commercial property. For instance, people were able to borrow hundreds of millions from
different banks with low interest rates and even without posting collateral; people queuing overnight
to buy houses in new developments; builders increasing prices by a few thousands a week; people
paying a down payment of $5,000 on a house and selling it on for a $100,000 profit a few weeks later
(Kelly, 2006). Like any bubble, the rise of Irish property prices contained the seeds of its own collapse

Wheeling Symphony Orchestra
I recently attended the opening night of the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at the Capitol Theatre in
downtown Wheeling. The experience of seeing a live orchestra for the first time was very unique and

country or hip hop concert. The venue was very quiet and respectful, no one was talking or playing
around on their cell phones. Whereas my prior concert experiences had consisted of musicians aiming
to be as loud and energetic as possible to invoke excitement in the audience, the orchestra put out a
different feel for the audience. The orchestra aimed to invoke and emotional and appreciative response

took breaks every once in awhile for a few short seconds which I did not expect. The symphony had a
little bit of everything in terms of music and instrumentation. Some parts were sad, some dramatic,
and some energetic. At times, it almost felt to me as if the music was telling a story. The ending was
incredible; it was fast paced and full of

The lockers at school are horrendous. There is food inside the beaten lockers and are displayed across our campus. This gives our school an unsatisfactory appearance. We hold these truths to be obvious, that all students should have the right to use lockers provided by the school. • 5. Dependence By Octavia E. Butler Dependence in Fledgling Dependence is a very broad term that encompasses multiple different aspects of peoples lives. It can be defined in a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to, obsessions compulsions, material reliance, and financial dependency. However, dependence is most commonly used in terms of interpersonal relationship and substance addiction. An intertwined combination of these two types of dependency is explored in Fledgling, a science fiction vampire novel written by Octavia E. Butler. In her novel, Butler portrays dependence as a natural component of symbiotic relationships with many varying forms of expression. Based on this, she also shows a connection between co dependence and addiction while still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like so, the experience is described as beneficial to both people. After Shori reunites with her father, Iosif, both Shori and the readers are informed that human blood is most satisfying to [them] and fortunately, [they] don t have to injure the humans [they] take it from (63). Based on this quote, the Ina symbiont relationship would be better classified as commensalism, where one organism benefits while the other is not affected. However, Butler further stresses the mutualistic relationship between the Ina and their symbionts by noting the other positive effects from the venom injected during feeding. For example, the venom strengthens their immune system, lengthens their lives by around 100 years, and makes them heal faster. In other words, they will become much healthier, stronger and harder to kill than they would be without [their Ina] (63). In this mutualistic relationship, the Ina depends on their symbionts as a source of fuel just as much as the symbionts depends on their Ina for health, but mainly feelings of pleasure and alleviation. However, when Ina misuse their abilities to use humans as weapons and tools, it can be viewed as a parasitism (257). Parasitic symbiotic relationships involve one organism benefiting at the cost of another organism. For instance, Iosif bit Raleigh Curtis, a local resident near ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cecily Brown s use of abstraction, nudity, male and female bodily manipulation, and erroticism come together to challenge subjects and movements that are historically male dominated. The three main elements of Cecily Brown s work (figuration, tension, and abstraction) contain references to past artistic personas and movements. She is influenced by the dark expressiveness of Francisco Goya s figures, Edgar Degas s creation of nearly sadistic scenes with strong colors, and the fluid vulgarity of Abstract Expressionism. But when does equality stop and human qualities begin? This issue is addressed in Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron. In the short story, a family has just been split apart by the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General (Vonnegut). These men and women work to create an equal country where everyone is exactly alike. They make this possible by adding handicaps to those individuals who are more outstanding than others. These make each person who they are by adding personal characteristics, traits, and qualities. In the story, George is born with intelligence, his son Harrison with size and strength, and the ballerina on the television with a beautiful complexion (Vonnegut). These make George, Harrison, and the ballerina special from other characters. They also give their co stars a quality they cannot possess: to be normal. Kurt Vonnegut writes Harrison Bergeron to prove equal can never be equal. There will always be human flaws that get in the way of a utopian society, and this is not bad. If everyone had the same color of hair, eyes, and skin, there would be no differences to accentuate. If all humans had the same intelligence and strength level, then there would be no Babe Ruths or Albert Einsteins in the world. Those people with differences become legends and affect the earth in their life and even after they are dead. For decades, makeup companies have treated foundation shades like a high end, exclusive VIP club that women of color cannot get into. Representation in the beauty industry is a continued issue that no makeup company can seem to get right. While the spectrum of foundation shades have widen, the makeup counter has not changed much. There is a major misunderstanding between makeup industries and women of color. This is a result of the lack of understanding of the needs of the diverse consumer. There is an absence of knowledge and empathy for others that are not white. When we consider these factors we have to think about the creators of these products. Often times they do not look like us, so how can we expect for them to meet our needs. This form of discrimination can place a direct discouragement on women of color s self esteem. This exclusion in an attempt to purchase foundation for their skin tone is what race relation s specialist, Nadra Kareem Nittle calls colorism. In her article What Is Colorism Skin Tone Discrimination in America, she describes colorism as the disadvantage dark skinned people face, while privileging those with lighter skin. Colorism is rooted in slavery, as slave owners typically gave preferential treatment to slaves with fairer skin complexions, while dark skinned slaves faced harsher mistreatment out in the fields. They account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over 41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3) awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture. Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards. The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist, fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that ... It is a mode of communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. Propaganda was used by the Nazi party in the years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler s leadership of Germany. Propaganda was a crucial instrument for acquiring and maintaining power. The Nazis used propaganda to increase their support and appeal. They spent huge sums of money on newspapers, leaflets and poster campaigns with simple slogans encouraging people to support the party. Asymmetrical Communication happens when professionals seek to pursue their publics into changing their opinions about certain things. It is important to learn about this system because in order for a company to track and take responsibility of their hazardous waste . The two ways that plastic bottles can become more intelligently designed is by changing how plastic bottles are manufactured in these industries and removing chemical ingredients that are harmful to human and environmental health. • 29. Understand The Concept Of Play Essay From an early age children are known to engage in a number of activities in which would feed their curiosity alongside aiding their development. The main activity in which they would willingly participate in would be pretend play; play is not something which is only done by children however can be performed by adults and even animals. In order to understand play and how it may benefit young children we must first be able to define it, however this creates the initial issue. This is due to the fact that the concept of play is disreputably difficult to define (Burghardt 2011). Although despite this we are able to split the concept of play into four various aspects, as described by Linda Rose Krasnor and Debra J. Pepler (1980), positive affect, flexibility, intrinsic movement and nonliterality. Positive affect refers to the idea that individuals who seem as though they are enjoying themselves whilst they are playing. However as the child ages to roughly 2years + they would begin to use more than one object and allow their imagination to be free and would see objects being more then what they are. An example of this would include a child seeing a block of bricks and using it to build a house. Rules In The Handmaids Tale Bruno Bettelheim once said, Punishment may make us obey the orders we are given, but at best it will only teach an obedience to authority, not a self control which enhances our self respect. More often than not, those surrounded by rules feel pressured to adhere to them due to the fear of repercussions. Even so, it is not guaranteed people will comply. Sometimes, being bound by rules can only make one feel rebellious. This proves to be true in Margaret Atwood s speculative fiction novel, The Handmaid s Tale. Through characterization, flashbacks, and point of view, Atwood demonstrates how strict rules lead to the temptation for defiance, despite the possible consequences. In the novel, the majority of the characters seem to acknowledge the strict laws of Gilead, while still not fully obeying them. Though breaking these laws leads to cruel ramifications (e.g. hanging, exile, etc.), it does not stop members of the society from breaking these said rules. In chapter 23, Offered goes to see the Commander in his room alone one night. My presence here is illegal. It is forbidden for us to be alone with the Commanders (Atwood, 136). Offered is aware of the fact that this request is unlawful, yet she still ponders on it. The dramatic growth of GNP greatly related to bank lending, low interest rates and relaxed lending criteria led to a housing boom (Kelly, 2006).
